I haven't heard anything about it being tested but I'd be suprised if it HASN'T been.  Amy has been very vocal about her anger with Casey regarding Casey stealing from her.  I'm sure AMY is fully cooperating with LE.

Who Is Jose Baez?

Jose Baez, the attorney for the mother of missing toddler Caylee Anthony, has been associated with some high profile cases.

Three big name cases of his were covered on WESH 2 News.

The most recent was in April of this year when Baez represented Nilton Diaz -- the Lake County man arrested in the death of a popular boxer's granddaughter.

Investigators said Diaz killed Wilfredo Vazquez's granddaughter.

A jury found Diaz guilty on murder charges.

Then, Baez represented Kissimmee Mayor George Gant at trial in 2007.

Gant got booted from office and was forced to resign as a doctor when two patients accused him of touching them in a sexual way during gynecology exams.

The prosecution's main witness refused to testify against Gant and the former mayor was cleared of sex charges.

In 2006, Baez took on Elvira Garcia as a client.

Garcia was accused of kidnapping her roommate's 6-week-old baby.

Police found the infant safe in Kissimmee.

Garcia claimed the baby was hers, authorities said.

So it is probably safe to say it isnt her cooky parents paying for the lawyer or they probably would have said. 

My mom used to work for a defense atty. and he took some high profile cases pro bono just for the publicity. 

Doesnt sound like he has much of a winning track record.  Most of his clients appear to be guilty at the onset.

I forgot to add .... that makes me wonder about the escort thing. 

Caylee Anthony's Grandfather Says 3-Year-Old Has Been Kidnapped

George Anthony told Eyewitness News he was supposed to meet in Oviedo on Tuesday morning with "people assisting outside the normal scope of things" and he seemed to suggest that the people are doing surveillance on kidnappers who he believes have his granddaughter.

"These people know they are being watched. They know it," George told Eyewitness News on Tuesday morning.

"Who are these people?" WFTV reporter Derrol Nail asked.

"I really can't get into that with you," George said.

"Are there people out there who can help you find these people?" Nail asked.

"Yeah, you would think that the people who have my granddaughter right now would be smart enough to turn this girl back in to her family. I don't want anymore of this going on," he said.

"You really believe that, George, with all the evidence out there to the counter?" Nail asked.

"Oh, deeply. You know something? Stuff that's out there so far, I hope I can say this as politely as I can, evidence that's out there is circumstantial. Evidence that's out there is being drawn up in someone's mind. Just because some things look like it's going in one way, it could go in a totally different way," he said.

During his time in Oviedo on Tuesday morning, he passed out shirts and fliers to random strangers who came up to him, but the person who he said he was supposed to meet in Oviedo didn't show up.

Eyewitness News asked if he has hired a private investigator and he would only say that the people who are doing the surveillance are private people who are helping him.

After his brief conversation with Eyewitness News, George hit the road with a Caylee billboard in tow. He said he plans on driving it to Sanford and possibly Daytona if time allows.

Thanks CBeach but I looked the address up. It was an address in Oviedo that Amy lived in. It ended up NOT being her parents and I didn't see it for rent anywhere. It's now forsale (been for sale since May). I doubt it has any baring. It's obvious Casey never lived there. Thanks for the info on Amy's parents house. I suppose she could be refering to that place too.

I was told that Lee is the one in charge of the find Caylee website...I wonder if Lee spends a lot of time surfing places like SM to find any details to build a story around...just thowing in my 2 copper discs....

If the Anthony's really felt that Caylee has been kidnapped then the first thing they would do would be to hire a PI to find out where she is. You wouldn't have George hanging around for some clandestine meeting that doesn't happen, nor friends "investigating". But they know the truth.......and why throw good money -after-bad?

My SIL works for defense attorneys and I know that's predominantly their forte, but the do take other things like closings, divorce, etc.  I've never had the thought to ask if they take pro bono cases.  I imagine they have, but can't be sure. 

Maybe Casey put Caylee in some kind of under ground rail road type thing to get her away from her large and in charge grandmother.  Oh but wait, I think the mom is supposed to go with the kid?

On another note ... What would be the purpose for holding a toddler for 28 days that you are being a care giver to for no ransom and all of America is looking for? 

I spent a couple of hours chasing a 2 year old recently and I tell you, I love that kid, but its exhausting to say the least.

If the previous location (where Amy lived) were with her parents, Amy's mail might have been forwarded to her parents new address.  I would think she'd check with them for the insurance items.  However, if the address was not her parents, and is up for sale, I would be very interested about when it was vacated.

I'm not quite ready to give up Oviedo.  Strange that George went there last night . . . coincidence (maybe not.)

Casey was somewhere from the 16th on, and we're having trouble tracking her movements.

I'll bet the FBI told grampa to go ahead and meet with people, who know people, who knows someone.......who has been watching some people.........PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS!!! ::MonkeyConfused::

2nd Search In Two Days For Missing 3-Year-Old Orlando Girl Called Off
Girl's Mother Remains Jailed On $500,000 Bond

ORLANDO, Fla. -- For the second time in two days, Orange County sheriff's deputies and K-9 units performed a search for Caylee Anthony, the missing 3-year-old Orlando girl who was reported missing in mid-July but hasn't been seen since mid-June.

Orange County sheriff's deputies on Tuesday requested the assistance of Osceola County's K-9 unit and searched a wooded area near the home of Caylee's grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony.

The search was called off and nothing was believed to have been found, Local 6 News reported.

On Monday, deputies searched a wooded area near Lee Vista Boulevard and Narcoossee Road.

Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, remains held on $500,000 bond on charges of child neglect filing a false statement. Casey Anthony said in a 911 call placed in mid-July that she had not seen her daughter for 31 days.

George and Cindy Anthony are scheduled to visit their daughter on Thursday.

Local 6 News also reported Tuesday that DNA evidence from Casey Anthony's car, which was found abandoned last month at an Orange County Amscot, has not yet been returned from the lab.

Family Threatened Daily

Meanwhile, the family of Caylee Anthony continues to be threatened every day as a search for the child continues.

"We get threats every day," Cindy Anthony, said. "We get threats on our home phone and we get threats on our cell phone."

Casey Anthony's brother, Lee Anthony, canceled a scheduled Orange County Jail visit with his sister on Tuesday morning.

Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, said his client wants to talk with her family but is sacrificing for her daughter.

"It's not something she wants," Anthony's attorney Jose Baez said. "She wants to see her family. She wants to talk to her family but she's willing to sacrifice that for Caylee."

George Anthony was the last family member to see Casey Anthony, a visit that took place last Sunday.

Wednesday will mark one month since Casey Anthony was jailed in connection with the case.

Caylee Called?

Cindy Anthony said on Monday that she believes the missing girl may have made a call after she vanished -- which would be new information in the case.

"I believe my mother also heard Caylee during that time," Cindy Anthony said.

When Cindy Anthony was asked how Caylee would know her great-grandmother's phone number, she said the number was programmed into Casey Anthony's phone.

A sheriff's department representative is checking to see if Cindy Anthony has ever mentioned the call before.

Expert Discusses Liars

Family and friends have described Casey Anthony as a pathological liar -- a person who they claim has told one lie after the next, Local 6 reported.

Dr. Richard Hall, who is a forensic psychiatrist with patients who are both in and out of jail, said habitual liars often lie to feel good about themselves.

"It shows that I'm smarter than you are and it shows that I have some power over you," Hall said. "And it shows that I've got some power over you and that I can manipulate you."

Hall said people who lie often never come forward to tell the truth.

"People who are habitual liars continue to lie in captivity just like they lie in the general public," Hall said. "So, they tend not to change and suddenly want to tell the truth and get everything."

Hall said he can't comment specifically about the Caylee Anthony case but said it could take some time as investigators search for the truth.

Bond Motion Denied

On Monday, an appeals court has denied a motion to lower the bond for Casey Anthony.

The 5th District Court of Appeal in Daytona Beach denied Casey Anthony's motion for a rehearing. The motion was sealed.

"I still think that to this day, the bond is excessive and tantamount to no bond at all," Baez said.

Casey Anthony is being held on $500,000 bond on charges of child neglect, making false statements and obstructing an investigation. Police said she lied to them and didn't report her daughter, Caylee, missing for more than a month.

Grandparents Visit Detectives

The grandparents of Caylee Anthony met with detectives on Monday for about two hours.

George and Cindy Anthony were at the Orange County Sheriff's Office from about 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in what they called an exchange of ideas.

Cindy Anthony said she talked with detectives about a phone call that Casey Anthony said she received in which she heard Caylee in the background. According to a search warrant, detectives said phone records show that the phone call never occurred.

"We discussed that with the deputies today. They're re-looking at the phone records because that's a misstatement," Cindy Anthony said.

A national search for Caylee continues.

Also one more point about the cell phone. Someone mentioned that Cindy would have to know that she got a new one because of the new number. Isn't it now federal law that you are able to take an old number to a new subsciber. Not sure if or how that would work if your parents where paying your bill, thus the number was thiers but she could have the same number. Also I'm again not sure exactly how cell phones work but is it possible to move a sim from a say Sprint phone to say a Criket and it still work? It thought SIMS would only work on the same subscriber??

I have a friend that does this when he comes back into the states. He buys a pay as you go phone and puts his SIM in it so he has all his numbers.

I don't think that applies if it's a pre-paid thing like a trac phone. The number portabilty is available to anyone who is listed on the account as an authorized representative. She could transfer the Sim card from a phone on their plan to a new phone though with out her parents knowing.

Judge Sets Bond at $500G for Mother of Missing Florida Tot, Police Name Her 'Person of Interest'

Detective Yuri Melich testified that strands of hair similar to those of Caylee Marie Anthony as well as dirt were found in the trunk of a car used by her mother.
   
The odor of "decomposition" was also detected in the vehicle, he told the judge presiding over Casey Anthony's bond hearing Tuesday afternoon.

"The smell I smelled was that of decomposition," Melich said.

When asked whether he considered the child's mother a suspect in her disappearance, Melich said he'd classify her as a "person of interest."

Melich also said a witness he interviewed remembered seeing bruises on Caylee's body and a mark under her eye without knowing that Melich had a photo showing similar marks on the toddler, who has been missing more than a month.

On cross examination, Melich admitted he didn't have any direct evidence that Casey Anthony played a part in her little girl's disappearance.

Investigators used cadaver dogs to search the child's grandparents' yard last week after a neighbor told them Anthony had asked to borrow a shovel around the time her daughter Caylee was last seen.

They have previously said that almost nothing Anthony has told them about her child's disappearance has checked out to be true. They haven't even been able to get information about the child's father, who Anthony has said is dead, Melich testified.

Also at Tuesday's hearing — held to argue over whether or not to release Casey from jail — the child's grandmother said her daughter is a good mom and hasn't committed a crime but has been dishonest before and has had trouble keeping jobs.

"Casey's lied to me in the past and when she's lied she's always told me the truth," Cindy Anthony said. "We've gotten to the bottom of the truth when I talk to her and spend time with her."

She told attorneys that her daughter is her "best friend outside my husband" and she had no reason to believe anything had happened to her granddaughter until last week because she'd "spoken to Casey on a daily basis."

"Without a doubt, she is a great mom," Cindy Anthony testified. "You can see it in her eyes. You can see it when they're together. There's nothing but love."

She said her daughter should be released from jail "because she hasn't committed a crime" and because she needs to help find Caylee.

Cindy Anthony speculated on the stand that someone was threatening her daughter and that's why she hasn't told the whole story about where Caylee is.

Earlier Tuesday, Cindy Anthony said Casey left the child in the care of someone she trusted, but that person betrayed her.

In an interview on FOX News Tuesday morning, she implied that her granddaughter might have been kidnapped.

Casey Anthony has been in prison since last week, when she finally reported her toddler daughter missing on Wednesday at her parents' urging.

Caylee was last seen June 9, according to Anthony — who investigators say has spun a Web of lies in their interviews with her. She was arrested on charges of child endangerment, making false officials statements and obstructing a criminal investigation.

Her attorney denies that his client has been lying to police and says she's been cooperating.

"My client at no time refused to speak with law enforcement," said lawyer Jose Baez at a Monday press conference. “We are focused on trying to find Caylee. We want to find Caylee.”

Anthony was denied bail at a hearing last week.

Cindy Anthony said her daughter "has her reasons why she just can't blurt out the whole story."

"Casey has been trying to tell the police in her own way what she can tell them and the only unfortunate thing is, you know, they want a clear picture," Cindy Anthony told FOX News on Monday. "There's no clear picture. Casey has her reasons why she just can't blurt out the whole story, so she's been honest with them for what she can be honest with."

Volunteers in the Orlando, Fla., were continuing to canvass neighborhoods this week, distributing about 50,000 fliers, according to MyFOX Orlando.

A local foundation and business owner were offering a new reward of a combined $125,000 for any information about Caylee's disappearance or whereabouts, MyFOX Orlando reported. The reward will be in effect for at least the next three months.

Orange County sheriff's detectives say they have few new leads. Authorities are looking into the family's claims that Casey Anthony received a mysterious call from her daughter last Tuesday.

That must be why they were asking everyone how Casey disciplined Caylee at home. I'll bet they suspected, or at least wanted to rule out, child abuse.

If there was any history of abuse, that really would put a whole new twist on this.

George Anthony told Eyewitness News he was supposed to meet in Oviedo on Tuesday morning with "people assisting outside the normal scope of things" and he seemed to suggest that the people are doing surveillance on kidnappers who he believes have his granddaughter.

"These people know they are being watched. They know it," George told Eyewitness News on Tuesday morning.

"Who are these people?" WFTV reporter Derrol Nail asked.

"I really can't get into that with you," George said.

"Are there people out there who can help you find these people?" Nail asked.

"Yeah, you would think that the people who have my granddaughter right now would be smart enough to turn this girl back in to her family. I don't want anymore of this going on," he said.

"You really believe that, George, with all the evidence out there to the counter?" Nail asked.

"Oh, deeply. You know something? Stuff that's out there so far, I hope I can say this as politely as I can, evidence that's out there is circumstantial. Evidence that's out there is being drawn up in someone's mind. Just because some things look like it's going in one way, it could go in a totally different way," he said.

Interesting. Does anyone have info on the ZG (She said on interview she doesn't have Fernandez in her name) from Sawgrass? I still have a problem with this being the "real" ZG since the reporter reported the person that came by sawgrass was obviously hispanic with shoulder length brown hair and the women they filmed as the "real" ZG OBVIOUSLY has blonde hair. Though I'm sure she could have dyed it in the past month but it still doesn't seem to match up.

Of all the other cases I have followed over the years, this one has the closest ring to the Hacking one, IMO.  There you had this supposedly normal guy who lied about just about everything, from graduating college to being accepted to med school.  He even was moving to North Carolina where he had told people he was going to go to Duke Univ.  Med School.  Where was it all going to end?  How far could he have taken it if his wife had not found out?  Did he expect to pretend to get a degree and then return to his hometown and hang up his shingle?  Not too likely he could have done that.  But he kept right on lying, even having his mother in law "proof-read" essays he wrote for his pretend college classes.  Casey has done a lot of the same kind of lying.  She went somewhere every day, claiming it was to work as an event planner.  She claimed to have a sitter for the past two years.  She even walked the cops to an office at Universal Studios and only then did she admit it was not hers.  Like Hacking, she kept the lie going as long as she could.  In fact, she is still lying.  She went out dancing and dating as if her daughter were safe at home, just as Hacking packed a UHaul to move to North Carolina.

Bleacheblack, I agree that Cindy calling 911 would eliminate her as someone who knew about the missing child and might have disposed of her body...unless, of course, she did not know when she phoned 911 that Caylee was dead.  Maybe Casey told her before the cops got there or the next day, after the cops left and before they returned to take Casey to Universal Studios and other places.  It is possible, I suppose, that Cindy then told George where the body was and to dispose of it.  Her demeanor sure did change overnight.  In the 911 calls, she was threatening to take Caylee away from Casey and to have Casey arrested for theft.  But the next day and the days after, she was defending Casey and saying Caylee was alive and all that.  It is a stretch, and I doubt either parent is involved in the crime, but it is possible, if you really think about it long enough.

last nite was south of the border - enchiladas and all the stuff that goes with them.

Someone told me today that at the bond hearing George was asked if Casey had a passport, and he said No.  The prosecution then said, Actually she does have a passport.

I missed that completely.  It helps explain why they are not letting her out of jail, and it also explains what she might have had in mind to do.

Perhaps she was trying to get enough money together to get out of the country, especially after Caylee was killed, if that is what happened.

She was out partying and dancing to celebrate her freedom in a way.  She no longer had the responsibility of a child.  She would not have to go back to her parents house.  And she might be able to start life over again in some other country.

How did I miss this?  It explains a lot.  Maybe a few more days and she would have been gone.  Nothing left but a smelly car.  People would surmise she and the child had been killed.  Or at least that is what she might have hoped would happen.

I don't think Cindy knew until a while after the 911 calls; but, I think George may have known (at least some of it) after he reported the gas can theft.  If he saw Caylee in the trunk, he could have helped.

He said they have been following where the evidence is suggesting that they need to go.

"Keep in mind, we're trying to put together where Casey may have been at any given time. She was gone for 31 days. Her own mother doesn't know exactly where she was those 31 days, so we have to try to put pieces together and try to figure out at any given day where she could have been," Padilla said. "We have nothing to indicate that (Caylee) is not alive. Statistically and historically, unfortnately these things do not turn out well. I think Cindy's demeanor changed overnight because she realized that the story Casey was telling was based on lies. Originally Cindy's threats were made IMO because she was using whatever leverage she has on Casey to get what she wanted (Caylee back) BTW I think this is probably a major device Cindy and Casey have used with each other to "get what they want" from the other-at this point Cindy was frightened (she had smelled the decomposition) but she could still be convinced it was something else, ie pizza. So she turned her story around.

The problem with Casey using a passport in her name would be the State Dept would instantly know, who would eventually tell the local LE. There is no way she could get a passport in someone else's name either - they have those things locked down rather tight.

there is a huge backlog on passports, and I know because the post office I use is always talking about it.

it's like 10-12 weeks - so unless she planned to kill Caylee well in advance of what we suspect - I can't see her thinking that far into the future.

as for George not admitting or not knowing she had a passport - I can completely believe that one. He's a proven liar and he'll lie about the small stuff, so he could lie about anything and everything.

I was trying to think through that and you could categories it 2 ways. Either she ment to leave the purse in the car or it was an accident. If it was not an accident then someone could figure that out pretty quickly because the things she would need: money, DL, CC would be with her. So one what did LE confiscate from Casey and what did they find in the car.

Has anyone gotten any info or seen any info from the wrecker. I know my parents car broke down and by the time we where able to get back to it it had been towed 2 weeks later we got a letter stating the wrecker had it and they outlined everything that was in the car (of value). Wouldn't there be something like that in this case. Supposedly they are supposed to video tape the cars as well. sure would be interesting.

That article was dated July 23rd, Rob.  It also said IF this arrangement was granted, it would be conditional upon a psychologist making a determination that she was not a danger to herself or others. Unless there is more recent info, I don't think this was a done deal.

You know, I realize there are a lot of fly-by-night people out there, but there are some genuine psychics out there who have proven track records with various police departments. If it were me, I'd be willing to invest a little money in one of those folks to try to find a missing child.

as a matter of ensuring Casey returns for a hearings and a future trial, she would be required to hand over her passport. If she had one.

and she would not get that back even if she was convicted and remained on bond during an appeals process.

for instance - if Casey was convicted of accidental / unintentional / negligent homicide (essentially a 2nd or 3rd degree conviction) - she could remain out on bond during the appeals process. To ensure she doesn't skaddle her passport remains in the possession of the DA.

it's all a big if and would depend on extenuating circumstances.

I just went over Cindy's testimony at the bond hearing for about the 40th time. It's interesting that you can hear something new each time.

Cindy stated that Casey was supposed to have gone to Jacksonville with Jeff Hopkins (her friend from Universal) for 2 weeks during the 30 days she was missing.

She also stated that Jeff Hopkins was the one who introduced Zanny to Casey, and if I understood it correctly, Zanny was Jeff Hopkins girlfriend and took care of his child.

Between June 16-June 18, a source said Casey stayed on and off with her boyfriend Tony Lazzarro. According to that source, Lazzarro has told them he never saw Caylee, never heard Casey talk about searching, never saw any sign that Casey was in any sort of a panic over her daughter's whereabouts.

I've always thought Casey backed up the car to the shed the same day she borrowed the shove.
The above says she borrowed shovel 17th - backed car up to the shed on the 18th.  So why did she want the shovel, what did she use it for? and why did she return the following day 18th June. 
Unless the dates are incorrect, this fits more with Casey being placed on the Anthony property 17 June and being retrieved on the 18th June.

Karma - Tony never said he he never saw Caylee, just that he didn't see her at the end of this saga and Casey made up a bunch of stories where she was.

my sister in law carries a "purse in a purse".  The purse Casey left in the car could have been like her "bar" purse ... lipstick, gum, essentials for the night and the other purse containing more day to day use stuff.

Point being, alot of chicks have more than one purse with much crap in all of them.  Maybe there is nothing much to the purse because she was done with it.  Maybe it really means nothing.

I dont know, I think she has been given alot more credit for being smarter than she really is.  I think things are alot more simpler than we think.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing.  Also, many don't actually carry a purse at all but use a backpack for everything.  I'm thinking more like the "bar" purse.

and on top of that - to use their alternative lifestyle as a mechanism to garner unwarranted sympathy from people who are truly hurting and searching for anyone to find their missing loved one.
