Saturday, September 16, 2006, there are a couple of events we would like to make you aware of that will further the awareness of Jennifer's abduction and we hope to see you at the events, they are for the Orlando community really and we have been lucky enough to be asked to be a part of them. They are as follows;

Florida Metropolitan University Presents the 2nd annual Children's Safety Day

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has proclaimed September 16, 2006 the second annual "Children's Safety Day" in honor of Florida Metropolitan University's community wide family event with key speakers Drew and Joyce Kesse. Children's Safety Day is a fun-filled family oriented day of events and activities revolving around child safety. From seat belt safety and fire safety to self-defense and abduction prevention, the goal of this amazing event is to educate parents and their children on important safety techniques and procedures that may one day save their lives. The atmosphere will be festive with performances by the Powerzone Kids, fire trucks, exploration vehicles, face painters, bounce house, games, mini-fire truck ride and more! All FREE for the public to enjoy!

At Children's Safety Day, F.M.U. will also offer families the opportunity to participate in self-defense classes and Escape School. "Each year, nearly 5,000 children in the U.S. are abducted. Almost 400 of these children will never be seen alive again" (East Orlando Sun, April 20-26 edition). Escape School will teach our community's children important escape techniques and give them valuable tools that will help them avoid being abducted. Through fun interactive demonstrations, Escape School instructors will teach children how to differentiate between good and bad strangers, how to escape from a car, how to find help when they need it, how to get away right away and so much more. Parents will learn the techniques with their children so they can continue to reinforce what they have learned together and they will be educated on the important steps to take if their child has been abducted. Families will leave with child identification cards, DNA kits and fingerprinting kits.

In addition, children can interact with our community's heroes that keep us safe everyday including firefighters, our furry heroes like the k-9 unit and mounted patrol, police officers, paramedics and so much more! Children's Safety Day will be held from 11am until 3pm with rotating Escape School classes at 12pm and 2pm at the F.M.U. South Campus off of John Young Parkway in Orlando. It promises to be an extraordinary event that pairs fun with learning, coupled with families gaining valuable information that can potentially save their lives.

Florida Metropolitan University understands that education is the key to positive progress and hopes to empower families by educating them on proactive prevention tools! Kesses Hand Out Cards With Missing Daughter's Picture


ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jennifer Kesse vanished more than eight months ago.

The 24-year-old hasn't been seen since, but her car was found two days later about one mile from her Orlando condo.

Her parents have been tireless in their efforts to find her

In the months since she has disappeared, they have put pictures of their daughter and information about her disappearance on calling cards and on matchbooks, WESH 2 News reported.

Drew and Joyce Kesse said they want to get information about their daughter out to the public. Now they are putting the information on the back of playing cards, which they'll send them to jails.

"We feel that it's one more opportunity to make a percentage of the population aware, and that percentage of the population will be people in jail," Drew Kesse said[/b]. "Obviously, they are criminals if they're in jail, and I think at this point, we're looking for a criminal."

Jennifer Kesse lived at what is now known as the Mosaic at Millenia in Orlando, Florida Building 22 unit 2226.  Jennifer never arrived to work on January 24, 2006.  Police now believe Jennifer woke up, took a shower and was preparing to go to work, what happened at that point is unknown.  

2 days later her car was found 1.2 miles down the road at the Huntington on the Green Condominiums.  3 frames of a security camera have been released to the public in hopes of identifying a 'person of interest'.  It has been speculated that the person of interest is likely the person who drove Jennifer's vehicle to this location and was later seen leaving on foot.  

Police have now stated a person other than Jennifer drove her car last.  The scent of the unknown driver was tracked back to Jennifer's building and stopped near her residence.  

Jennifer had recently purchased this condo in November of 2005.  She had recently returned from a vacation with her boyfriend Rob Allen the previous weekend.  She made it to work the following Monday, spoke with family and friends Monday night and essentially vanished sometime after 10pm.

Dave BalutOrlando, Florida - It was one year ago that a young woman who grew up in the Bay area was last seen in Orlando.

Drew and Joyce Kesse from Bradenton are back in Orlando for the first anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.

Jennifer Kesse, then 24-years-old, was reported missing when she didn’t show up for work January 24th 2006.

Her car was found two days later in a parking lot near her home. A person of interest seen near Kesse’s car has never been identified.

Drew Kesse, Jennifer’s Father:

“It rips me apart as a father to know that every night when that sun goes down, y’know somebody has her out there or, she’s passed from us. Someone did what they needed to do and got rid of her. It’s very difficult but I would never thought we’d be here a year, no.”
Kesse's parents say Jennifer's purse, credit cards and cell phone have never been found.

They'll hold a prayer vigil at 5:00 Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church on John Young Parkway in Orlando.

News conference scheduled today in Jennifer Kesse case



Orlando Police Chief Michael McCoy will hold a press conference this afternoon, to release new information in Jennifer Kesse's disappearance.

Police are being tight-lipped about what will be released at 3 p.m, but are hoping to generate more tips in the case of the who disappeared 16 months ago next week. Her 26th birthday is Sunday.

Kesse's father, Drew, also will attend the press conference. Her family has pledged to continue their search, still passing out fliers of showing Kesse's smiling face.

Kesse disappeared from the Mosaic at Millenia, an upscale gated condo complex on Americana Boulevard on Jan. 24, 2006.

No credible leads have been reported in the case.


Wow, I have been thinking about her the last few days, in particular, last night it was gnawing at me that there is NOTHING, no one has any idea, leads, suspects, suspicions, no talk of depression, suicide, etc.  And I look and see this.   Really hope this is something....  Since there is very little info I have always been curious regarding the boyfriend - only because they just went away on vaca and she disappeared the next day - Still, no one has said anything about him or that possibility AND he lives hours away from her, and I would assume the police have confirmed his where abouts - Still not even sure WHEN she disappeared - Apparently she left for work that morning, but do we really know that - OTHER possibility, construction being done in her condo complex, which she expressed to her father made her uncomfortable (workers) so one of them possible - maybe more likely than bf.

New Surveillance Video Released In Jennifer Kesse Case


ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orlando Police Department is preparing to release new information in the case of Jennifer Kesse. The young woman has been missing for almost a year and a half now.

Jennifer was last seen the evening of January 23, 2006, heading home to her condo near the Millenia Mall. Her black Chevy Malibu was found two days later, abandoned in condo complex parking lot about a mile away.

So far, there has been no sign of the "person of interest" seen walking in the area when the car was ditched.

The new information includes a video tape showing the person of interest actually driving and parking Kesse's car.

A press conference on Thursday afternoon is expected to include more information. Check back with WFTV.com for the details.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man videotaped parking a car belonging to missing Jennifer Kesse at an Orlando apartment complex was called a suspect by police Thursday during a press conference announcing the release of new surveillance video in the case.

The new video shows someone pulling Kesse’s car into a parking spot at the Huntington On The Green apartments on Jan. 24 and then walking away.

Also, it was announced that a $1 million dollar reward was being offered in the case, FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6 News reported.

Orlando Police Chief Michael McCoy said the video is not high quality but it can possibly lead to new clues in the case.

"It is now time that the value of that video will support and give opportunity to those with information," and we are absolutely positive that someone has the information we need to bring this young lady home,” McCoy said.

It was not reported why the video was not released with earlier tapes after Kesse was reported missing.

Kesse's father, Drew, and her mother attended Thursday’s press conference.

“We think this is a fabulous time to do it but a little bit over,” Drew Kesse said during the conference. “But that is the way things go in these types of investigations.”

Kesse said Sunday, May 20, is Jennifer’s birthday.

“Over the last 15-plus months, we do run into people from time to time who think that Jennifer just had a fight with her boyfriend, has a drug problem (or) is a 'runaway bride-type' who had a meltdown and she just doesn’t want to be with her family anymore. Nothing can be further from the truth.”

Kesse said he hopes the video wakes someone up who "has been on the edge."

This is the link to the new Jennifer Kesse surveillance video - I can't see a thing and quite frankly am having a hard time justifying why the police couldn't have released this over a year ago - it's not very good and unfortunately I feel like they are just scraping at things to appease her distraught parents at this time - It is amazing there is not one lead, a suspicion, thoughts, ideas, etc....she's just gone - the only thing is her father said that Jennifer was leery of some of the workers around her condo complex - I said this a year ago, I hope they questioned them and ran background checks - It's a terrible thing to say but this seems as though it has hit a wall and her poor family isn't going to have answers until someday by chance they find her or some significant evidence OR someone who knows something finally talks -  parent's worse nightmare -

Barbara Jones from the Orlando Police Dept.  Still not quite sure why they waited so long to release this video - but got my answer to the boyfriend question - he apparently was many miles away from her the night she disappeared - still think it is awfully odd that she disappeared the day after returning from vacation, but parents do not recognize person on video (so its not him or anyone else they know) and no one else has come forward to say they know this person, although the picture and video is hard to actually see the person's face - Either that person wiped that car clean, which inside and on handle before leaving it OR they have prints, and if they do have prints obviously they don't match any databases, but tend to think they don't - car has subsequently be sold -

One other thing to remember, her brother stayed at her condo while she was gone, I don't remember for how long, but believe he brought others with him -

Found this today by 'Michelle says so' dated May 2007...thought some may be interested in reading it. As we all know.....anything is possible and this person has some valid points.

Jennifer Kesse--A Missing Woman or a Possible Sex Slave?
I remember when the story about 24-year old Jennifer Kesse going missing first hit. However, I was so deeply involved with my blog on Natalee Holloway case to know every detail about Jennifer Kesse and the facts of her story. To be honest, I had no idea she had JUST returned from a Caribbean cruise. All I knew was that she was missing.

 
Nearly two years later, I've learned and researched incredible amounts of information regarding stories and "outings" of human/sex trafficking; women and girls being abducted and sold into slavery off cruise ships in other countires while vacationing. These are not just women "from other countries". These are girls and women from OUR COUNTRY. Add to that, Jennifer is one hot commodity in that business sector. She's young, blonde, white, thin... She would bring in a lot of money to whoever wanted to take her.

After reading more into this case I am definitely re-thinking my opinion and now consider her missing status as a possible abduction and not a murder.
 


Why? Three perfect reasons:

 


1. She JUST returned from a cruise. She was reported missing the next day. She could have been on that cruise while someone was stalking and watching her. If that person were a cruise ship member they could have had access to records--including her name, where she was coming from and going to, when she was leaving, etc.

2. She is a beautiful blonde white woman. That's a diamond in the human/sex slave industry and big bucks for sickos.

3. She conveniently lives in Orlando, Florida. Her abductor could have followed her or gathered information on where she lived. Florida is a huge gateway for human trafficking due to its location. What better area for this crime? What better location for this victim? What better opportunity for this crime?

Sad anniversary brings 'Beacon of Hope'

Today marks the second anniversary of the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse, the 24-year-old Central Florida woman who vanished near her south Orlando apartment.

To honor Kesse and others who are missing, and to heighten public-safety awareness, her family will put on a four-hour event Saturday at the Mall at Millenia.

The event, called "Beacon of Hope for the Missing," will feature 32 groups ranging from law-enforcement agencies to the family of missing Leesburg boy Trenton Duckett. Attendees can have their fingerprints taken, see area lawmakers and law-enforcement officials, give blood, and learn about a variety of safety issues.

Drew Kesse, Jennifer Kesse's father, said he and others organized the event to give thanks to the community, and remind people about the plights of families with missing loved ones.

"I think it should be about more than Jennifer at this point because there are so many missing out there," Drew Kesse said.

Jennifer Kesse disappeared Jan. 24, 2006. Her case gained national attention and remains unsolved.

Saturday's event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lawmakers will highlight a proposed law set to be introduced in the spring session of the state Legislature that requires law-enforcement agencies to adopt written procedures for handling missing-persons cases and obtain DNA samples of people missing for more than 90 days, among other things.

To mark the anniversary today, Kesse's family will stand at the corner of South John Young Parkway and Conroy Road holding signs asking for help in their daughter's case.

They did the same thing two years ago, during the four months after the young woman's disappearance.

"We will never stop," Drew Kesse said. "She expects that of us, and we'd expect that of her."

Human Slave Trade Should Be Checked, Missing Girl's Dad Says

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The father of a Central Florida girl missing for more than two years is urging investigators to consider the possibility that she was a victim of human trafficking -- possibly forced into sex slavery, Local 6 reported.

Kesse, 24, vanished from the Mosaic at Millenia condominiums near the Mall at Millenia on Jan. 24, 2006.

Police found her Chevrolet Malibu in an apartment complex near her condominium but there have been few clues since the discovery.

Kesse's father, Drew, is now wondering if his daughter was kidnapped and forced into slavery, Local 6 reported.

"It's time we start to look in other directions," Kesse said. "We've done so much and really have come up with so little."

Experts in the world of human trafficking said many slavery cases have not been reported.

"Human trafficking as a whole is an epidemic," investigator Brad Dennis said. "And I think it's an epidemic that has been underreported for a long time."

Dennis said human trafficking cases are being investigated in almost every state.

Local 6 featured a 17-year-old girl, Shauna Newell, who was lured into a Florida house and held hostage by human traffickers before being found and rescued.

Orlando police said Jennifer Kesse doesn't fit the typical profile since she was older than most victims.

However, the Kesse family believes investigating the possibility of human trafficking is important.

"We are going to ask them to move forward on that front," Kesse said.

Kesse Lobby For Missing Persons Bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- The parents of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse are in Tallahassee on Wednesday lobbying state lawmakers to pass a bill designed to expedite the search for missing people.

Kesse disappeared from her Orlando condominium more than two years ago.  Her parents helped to craft the missing person's bill which includes new policies for entering information into a national database system.

The bill would also require that all law enforcement officers within designated regions be informed about a missing person on later than two hours after a missing persons report is filed.

Finally, the bill would require that law enforcement agencies collect DNA samples of a victim after they have been reported missing for more than ninety days.

Family Keeps Missing Daughter's Case Alive

For two years, Joyce Kesse has driven "the Jen mobile" – a gold Trailblazer covered with photos of her smiling daughter – around the Bay area to trigger leads in her daughter's disappearance.

Gaither High School graduate Jennifer Kesse was 24 and living in Orlando when she vanished Jan. 24, 2006. Orlando police found her black 2004 Chevrolet Malibu in an apartment complex about one mile from her condominium.

Friday, the Kesse family had hopes of new information from the Orlando area, where investigators questioned a man charged Thursday in a rape that had occurred in Orange County in 2007.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested Clemente Garcia, 20, of Orlando, on Thursday, a day after deputies found the body of a missing jogger, Nicole Ganguzza, 26, in an overgrown area of an Orange County park.

A homicide investigation is under way. Friday, the sheriff's office and Orlando police said they do not have anything to link Ganguzza's death with Kesse's disappearance.

However, Orlando homicide Sgt. Roger Brennan said it was too early to tell whether Garcia might be connected with Kesse's case.

"We're not done looking at him," Brennan said, adding that investigators have examined any crime of violence against women in the Orlando area for connections to Kesse.

Joyce Kesse and her husband, Drew, said they would follow the developments closely.

"How can we not hope that it's someone who's finally made a mistake?" Drew Kesse said. "That would give us a direction to go. I don't feel like we're going in any direction."

The Kesse family lived in Tampa for 17 years. Jennifer graduated from Gaither in 1999.

Drew Kesse said a man about 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5 was spotted dropping off Jennifer's car at the apartment complex the week she disappeared. Since then, the family has fielded dozens of tips through a tip line, Web site and law enforcement agencies.

The family is determined to keep Jennifer's case alive. The TV show "48 Hours" plans to broadcast a segment July 1 on Jennifer's disappearance, Drew Kesse said.

Also in July, Gov. Charlie Crist will sign into law the "Jennifer Kesse-Tiffany Sessions Missing Persons Act," which establishes standards for entering information about missing people into the National Crime Information Center and other databases, as well as obtaining DNA samples from relatives.

"We have undying love for Jennifer, and we will not stop," Drew Kesse said. "Jennifer will come home someday. I'm not going to have my daughter in a shallow grave or in water somewhere for the rest of my life. That's just not in the cards."

Orlando Detective To Focus Full-Time On Jennifer Kesse Case

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Channel 9 has learned that the Orlando Police Department is dedicating a detective full time to concentrate on the Jennifer Kesse case.

The Orlando woman was last seen at her condo in the Mosaic at Millenium complex in Orlando in January 2006. So far, police have not been able to uncover any clues as to what happened to her.

A person of interest was caught on surveillance cameras driving Kesse's car, but he has never been found.

The department now plans to track down every last lead no matter how minor it might seem.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Texas search team arrived in Central Florida on Friday to help search for Jennifer Kesse nearly three years after her disappearance.

Kesse disappeared nearly three years ago from her Orlando condominium.

On Thursday, Texas Equusearch came to assist in the search.

Police have had more then 950 leads in the case, but Kesse's mother, Joyce, said it's awareness people need to be reminded she's missing.

Jennifer Kesse would be 27 years old now.

"It's extremely hard," father Drew Kesse said. "I'll be honest. It's hard to be back in this city."

The missing woman's parents met with investigators Friday morning. They said there's been nothing new happen in the case, but they're grateful for the help from the search team.

"There are a lot of emotions going on," said Tim Miller of Equusearch. "We've got two children in basically the same area."

Equusearch is in town to help look for 3-year-old Caylee Anthony, and they've also been briefed on the Kesse case.

A few years ago, police combed a wooded area off John Young Parkway -- not far from Jennifer Kesse's condo where she was last seen. Texas Equusearch will take another look in that area.

"It's when we're going to do it," Miller said. "I think it's going to be a lot sooner than later."

Jennifer Kesse was last seen near her condo near the Mall at Millenia in January 2006.

"We're going to go out and take some rides around some of the areas to get a better grasp," Drew Kesse said.

Jennifer Kesse's car was found near Texas Avenue and Americana Boulevard. A few days later, surveillance was found of someone driving her car. Police said they don't know who was driving.

"With any luck, maybe we'll find something this time," Drew Kesse said. "As you know, with Joyce and me, we'll never give up. Jennifer is what it is all about."

Texas Equusearch members said they're not sure when they'll begin their search. They said they're still trying to coordinate the Kesse and Anthony searches.

This is the first time I've looked at this case. The surveillance pictures of the POI look like a female to me. I found this picture of I think a British hair style. This is what I see. Does anyone know if it has been determined to be a male or female for sure?

IMO it is a hat...not hair. The person has huge feet for a woman, imo.

I agree that the feet do look large to a woman's feet.  And that the person appears to be wearing a hat.

I remember watching a show about the case (I think 48 hours mystery) and they mentioned that the building that Jennifer was living in was having renovations done at the time.  The picture looks to me like someone dressed in painters clothes.  Which would fit with one of the people working on the building possibly being invoved. 

Does anyone know if TES ever did that search for Jennifer when they were going to search also for Caylee Anthony?  I don't remember hearing another word about it?

The last I read, TES was to search for Caylee and Jennifer on November 8th.  TES website just mentions Caylee, but I know I've read it was for both...I'll see if I can locate the source.  It may have been through SM posters who have volunteered to help with that search.

Klaas posted an article above from earlier in the month....I also found similar info printed on orlandosentinal's site and like Red posted on the front page they both said there were to have a discussion about Jennifer's case including possible search plans.

Tim Miller said tonight on Dana's show that there would be two searches going on at the same time, Jennifer's and Caylee's.  If one is found, then the searchers would then go to search for the other missing person.  I hope this helps.

For families of missing children, closure is a convenient euphemism. It never touches the jagged edges of pain, like a father who has looked at porn movies where women are tied up and beaten in a padded room, on the chance one of them might be his daughter.

Or a couple who had to wait 27 years before police in Florida officially identified a serial killer as the man who decapitated their 6-year-old son.

Or grandparents who returned home to Orlando last week with the realization that a skull and bones found near their home may be the remains of their granddaughter.

It's human nature, I suppose, to peek into graphic details of a true-life horror show without bothering about the nuances. But how can any family cope with a litany of unspeakable sins? The road leads to many places.

Drew and Joyce Kesse are in a twilight zone of a different kind. Their daughter, Jennifer, was thought to have been abducted nearly three years ago in the vicinity of the Mall at Millenia and is still missing. There have been more than 2,000 leads reported that have gone nowhere. The Orlando Police Department considers it an active case.

The Kesses push on. They've received close to 700 leads on their own, many of them addressed to a post-office box that was shut down more than a year ago.

The journey has taken them to strange places, opening doors to the dark underworld of porn to see if Jennifer had been abducted and forced into some form of sex trade. As bad as it's been, Drew Kesse knows that it's worse for others. Like a daughter who had to wait 26 years before authorities identified her mother's remains. They were stored in a locker at a morgue just a few blocks from her home.

"For this family, closure is everything. Period," Drew Kesse said Thursday. "For good or bad. Do we hope for the miracle? Absolutely. But we're very realistic. What we truly want is Jennifer to be found for her sake."

Not knowing is worse. It renders Christmas Day meaningless. The Kesses will gather with a few family and friends and ask themselves the same question they've asked over and over again:

"How do we do this?"

Advocacy is a therapeutic reaction. Similar to John Walsh, who became a tenacious criminal hunter as the face of America's Most Wanted, Drew Kesse has wrapped himself in helping others.

His fingerprints are on Senate Bill 502, the " Jennifer Kesse and Tiffany Sessions Missing Persons Act," which expands the Amber Alert system to send out notifications within two hours of any missing person under age 26. The bill was passed earlier this year with the help of Hilary Sessions, whose daughter, Tiffany, went missing on Feb. 9, 1989, in Gainesville, and has yet to be found.

There's a new cause now. Kesse is lobbying legislators for a bill that would require DNA testing for unidentified human remains in Florida. Right now, that's an option but not a requirement. Making it mandatory should help many families looking for answers, because DNA testing can identify human remains about 30 percent of the time.

It's important for Kesse because it's personal, in more ways than the obvious. He is respectful of all the attention lavished upon missing children but also wonders why adults who go missing don't always become a priority for law-enforcement officials.

"Why do we distinguish children from adults?" he asks. "I don't see why everyone isn't equal. When it comes to law, a person is a person. You are someone's child."

His child vanished near her south Orlando apartment on Jan. 24, 2006. The tears come and go, but they don't matter as much anymore. They are inconsequential.

"We still get to sleep, eat, shower," Kesse said. "But just think of what Jennifer has gone through. Our feelings don't count."

The uncertain journey continues. Drew and Joyce Kesse pray for closure, knowing that it might only bring more heartbreak.

A community safety event is planned at the Mall of Millenia on Jan. 24, the third anniversary of the disappearance of Orlando resident Jennifer Kesse.

The Jennifer Kesse Beacon of Hope for the Missing event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the mall's lower-level community rooms.

Orange County Sheriff's Office will attend for fingerprint and video identification of children.

Other participants will conduct children's self-defense demonstrations.

Kesse was 24 when she vanished Jan. 24, 2006 near her condominium at The Mosaic at Millenia Condominiums in south Orlando.

Her case attracted national attention and remains unsolved.

This is the second time the family is marking the day she disappeared with a community event.

A deck of playing cards bearing the photograph of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse led to a meeting between her father and a confessed murderer.

David Byron Russ met face-to-face with dad Drew Kesse in Seminole County Jail a couple weeks ago to pass on tips about his daughter's unsolved case. Russ said a playing card featuring Jennifer Kesse got him thinking about her disappearance, Drew Kesse said.

"It's odd, but it's not the first time tips have come out of the jail," Drew Kesse said. He declined to discuss what information Russ gave him.

Jails distribute playing cards that feature information about unsolved cases in an effort to generate tips.

Russ killed Madeleine Leinen, 58, in her Longwood-area home on May 7, 2007. He pleaded guilty last year, saying he was in the middle of a cocaine binge at the time. He wrote the judge in his case that he is "a cold-blooded killer," and would have killed again if he wasn't arrested.

Byron pleaded guilty last year and is awaiting sentencing. During a hearing earlier this month, Byron refused to let his attorneys present evidence that might help him avoid the death penalty.

Orlando police spokeswoman Sgt. Barbara Jones said investigators have no plans to meet with Russ. Jones declined to discuss the tip.

Jennifer Kesse has been missing since Jan. 24, 2006. On Saturday, a community safety event marking the third anniversary of her disappearance will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mall at Millenia's lower-level community rooms. The Jennifer Kesse Beacon of Hope for the Missing event will fingerprint and video children for identification purposes.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will take DNA samples from relatives of missing people to put in a national database that helps identify human remains, Drew Kesse said. The service is free. About 400 people from Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Polk counties have been missing for more than 90 days, he said.

- The Orlando Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of investigation are trying to find a man who online claims to be a serial killer and that Jennifer Kesse may be one of his victims. Kesse was has been missing for three years. She was last seen at her condo near the mall at Millenia.

The investigation into this self proclaims serial killer all started here with a message on Jennifer Kesse's you tube page. It reads "maybe I can help” written by Catchmekiller. Click his name and you'll be linked to a page titled "serial killer confession". A man who's blurred his face and distorted his voice. "I've decided to confess a few things," says the catchmekiller.

Catchmekiller wants thousands of people to play his game. He claims he's murdered 16 people over the last 8 years and wants to lead those who play his games to the bodies one by one. "Whenever one body is found...another clue is on and gives you one small step closer to who I am and where I am," the man claims.

In a phone interview today Drew Kesse, Jennifer's father, told FOX he's disgusted. "To me you just can't hardly get any lower than this."

While Drew Kesse thinks this is a cruel joke, there's a chance its not. "You've got to take it seriously until you can prove it any different."

Drew Kesse posted a message for catchmekiller on Jennifer's site "talk is very cheap, explain yourself, either you know something or you don’t which is it and why post here." And, Drew Kesse has a challenge for this self proclaimed serial killer, "Give some family an exact information that no one knows...an exact place...where one of these 16 is located...then we'll know you're real...we'll know this is not a game we're onto something." And until then, "Catch me killer on you tube, you really have no guts. Whoever you are come out. Be a man, cause you're not a man. You're nothing more than a punk," said Drew Kesse.

Jennifer Kesse's case has with been compared with Tara Grinstaed's case. Grinstead is a 32 year old woman missing Georgia woman. Catch me killer's first clue is on the Georgia woman's disappearance. He claims to have slit her throat. While catch me killer did not show his face. It obvious he's a white male. He has distinctive spikey hair, a goatee, and he's wearing a wedding ring.

3 years, more than 1,000 tips -- and 1 full-time detective

It has been more than three years since Jennifer Kesse was abducted, and the search for her is at a near-standstill.

Clues come in, though investigators say they are no closer to finding her than the day she went missing.

Since Kesse disappeared, the Orlando Police Department has investigated 126 murders -- mostly of young black men -- and are still looking for killers in 40 of those cases.

The 40 unsolved murders, plus a slew of cold cases and a handful of missing-persons cases, are divided among seven detectives.

But to OPD, the Kesse case is special: One investigator is dedicated to solving it.

Detective Joel Wright shifted back to a full-time investigation to find Kesse in August not because of any one tip, but because of the mountain of leads police have received during the past three years.

Kesse's case garnered more than 1,000 tips -- almost exceeding any other case Orlando police have worked, authorities said.

"We're still poring over all of those leads," said Deputy Chief Sonya White, who oversees the Investigative Services Bureau. "I don't want to give any false indication that there is a new tip that's come in, but we're just making sure that we've satisfied all of the tips that we've received."

But cases like that of Mildred Beaubrun, an 18-year-old black woman who was shot after she refused to give her phone number to a man at a gas station last May 19, receive very few. She died several weeks later after being removed from life support.

Beaubrun's family members said that leads about her killer are scarce. Shortly after the shooting, OPD released sketches of the two men who witnesses said were involved in her murder.

Beaubrun's family said her case deserves just as much attention as Kesse's.

"It should not be an issue of the color of her skin -- it shouldn't matter if she is black, white, purple or green," said Margaret Francis, Beaubrun's aunt. "She was shot because she said no to someone who wanted her phone number."

White said race has nothing to do with OPD's allocation of investigative resources.

"What we care about is the safety of all citizens, and what we work with in investigations are leads," White said. "If we have a lead in a young black male's homicide, it's going to be followed up as diligently as if they were not black."

Months of publicity

Kesse was a 24-year-old professional, an employee at Westgate Resorts, when she vanished from her condo near the Mall at Millenia on Jan. 24, 2006. Three years later, she is one of a handful of missing, endangered adults in Orlando.

OPD has case files on all of them. Unlike the overwhelming majority of other cases, Kesse's garnered months of publicity and generated scores of leads.

"There's Crimeline, America's Most Wanted, the family's tip line, the guest book on her Web site and people who call in to the station when something runs on TV," said Wright, naming various ways the department receives tips.

Wright and an agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have worked to investigate tips and oversee input of leads into a central database.

What have police learned in the past nine months? They're not saying much.

"We've positively been able to identify people who looked like suspects in the beginning and [have] cleared them," said Sgt. Roger Brennan, who oversees the homicide unit. "But we still don't know where Jennifer is."

White was hesitant to release any new information. She said an upcoming meeting between police and Kesse's family will help determine the next step.

Kesse's parents live with a mixture of agony and anticipation. So for father Drew Kesse, the full-time work by Wright brings his family hope.

"We feel very good that three years and three months later, that they still continue to investigate," he said. "They still feel that Jennifer is findable, that they aren't going to stop . . . "

More work for others

Wright's work on the Kesse case means more work for other detectives on other cases. When he was given Kesse as a full-time assignment, his other active and cold-case assignments were divided among the seven other detectives in the unit.

For the first time, OPD had to use members from the assault-and-battery unit as backup homicide detectives in some of the less-complicated cases, authorities said.

And soon, Detective Reginald Campbell will retire after 23 years with the department. His departure will leave the unit with six detectives working active cases -- the same number the unit had in 2006 when Orlando murders skyrocketed.

Barring new, substantive leads, however, Wright said he has come to a point in the Kesse case where there is little more he can do.

"I see a time, probably in the near future, where we can go back to me working murders and following up on new leads [in the Kesse case]," he said. "I want to find Jennifer more than anything else, but the odds get worse as time goes on."

The parents of missing woman Jennifer Kesse said they see connections between their daughter's disappearance and that of Ocoee woman Tracy Ocasio, according to a WESH.com report.

Drew and Joyce Kesse said their daughter, Jennifer Kesse, had gone to the Tap Room in Metro West -- the bar 27-year-old Tracy Ocasio was last seen at -- and had lived near the establishment at one time, the Web site said.

Jennifer Kesse also worked in Ocoee for four years, where a person of interest in the Tracy Ocasio case lives and where Tracy Ocasio's car was found.

"That was her old hang. That was her old neighborhood," Drew Kesse said.

However, they are reluctant to commit themselves to the theory, and add that it is not the strongest lead they have had since their daughter went missing.

"We've been on this roller coaster ride many, many times," Drew Kesse said.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the possible connections between the cases are being investigated.

The Kesses met with the Orlando Police Department Thursday for a regular update on the case.

Joyce Kesse said their investigators are looking into the connections.

"Let them do their jobs and do the best we can to stay strong and stay positive," she said.

"One of these time it has to be it," Drew Kesse added.

I think this guy is pretty smart. 3 murders and 3 cars and no witness blood . You know the geography of the area, I do not.
But what ever this guy did with Jennifer, he then did with George. Various searches have turned up nothing over the years. So I would go back to his daily habits and jobs that he holds and look for some avenue that would allow for him to transport and dispose of a body. This character is well thought out and is arrogant, he does no believe you will find bodies. He appears to be sociopath..
BUT..Arrogance and Ignorance run very close to each other.. There is a weakness in his behaviors and it must be exposed.

There are a lot of people indicating he is a guy who could commit such a crime. He has committed some violent acts.. I suppose others in his group have done the same.
Where was he working when Jennifer went missing ? What kind of work did he do ?
Did he frequent that particular club when Jennifer was alive?
I have no idea if he is or is not the person and only LE investigators can do the type of research and questioning that will bring out the truth.

Like a chess game..You will not be able to do anything or solve his last move, but LE can move ahead of him in in a defensive/offensive attack.. Bait him, lure him, But you have to be good at it as he has a high IQ and he is very intuitive.. IF the word gets or he feels you are setting him up or the slightest word gets out as to your intention. He will out maneuver you.
 Then he also becomes very dangerous as he intends to become superior..

I have seen that video .. She is a smoker.. Almost looks like a cigar, she leads him right out the door. So there was already an agreement to drive him home..

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A large area of ground was dug up in Orlando on Monday and cadaver dogs were brought in to help search as police acted on a tip in the Jennifer Kesse case.
The Orlando Police Department confirms that the search they conducted Monday at an open field along John Young Parkway and Millenia Boulevard (see map) is related to the missing Orlando woman.
According to Orlando police, "an independent search group identified an area in a field at JYP and Millenia Blvd using ground penetrating radar followed up by k-9 units. The group contacted the lead detective in the Jennifer Kesse case. Today at approximately 1:30pm detectives along with FDLE and waste water responded to do a follow up of the information. An investigative dig was conducted that was met with negative result. The investigation is ongoing."
The location is not far from the condos where Jennifer Kesse lived (see map showing both locations).
Kesse was 25 years old when she disappeared from her Mosaic Millenia condo in Orlando in January 2006. Police later found her car at an apartment complex a mile from her home. Surveillance video captured someone walking away from the car, but investigators have been unable to identify that person.

Investigators turned up empty-handed today after digging up land they hoped would help them find missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse, Orlando police spokeswoman Sgt. Barbara Jones said.

The day-long excavation took place on land near John Young Parkway and Millenia Boulevard, a short drive away from Kesse's Mosaic at Millenia condominium. Homicide investigators and Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents used heavy equipment to dig a large hole after a private search group said the area may be of interest to investigators, Jones said.

Jones did not give further details about the tip or give the name of the search group, but did say they used trained dogs to identify the area.

There are no further plans to dig at the site, Jones said.

Kesse disappeared Jan. 24, 2006. Police think she was abducted. Her car was later found at the Huntington on the Green apartment complex near her home.

The field is on John Young Parkway and Millenia Boulevard (see map). It's just a stone's throw away from Kesse's old apartment, The Mosaic at Millenia (see map showing both locations).

All day, Orlando police investigators, using unmarked cars, kept a low profile as they dug for clues in one of the country's most publicized missing person's cases. They confirmed it was the search for clues in Jennifer Kesse's disappearance.

"It's very difficult to go through," said Jennifer's father, Drew, in a phone interview with Eyewitness News from his home in Bradenton (listen to full interview).

Drew Kesse told Eyewitness News the field is one area that has really bothered him. A lake on the property was half-filled with dirt and then graded over shortly after his daughter vanished.

"It's just so easy. Something could have been thrown in there and so much dirt came over the property," he said.

Last week, a private company contacted Drew and volunteered to search. It had several cadaver dogs hit on something in the field and sonar equipment detected something, too. That's why Orlando police showed up Monday to dig. But after hours of digging and using police dogs, they came up with nothing.

"We're glad that they brought it to our attention like they did," said Sgt. Barbara Jones, Orlando Police Department. "We haven't found anything at this location to move the investigation forward."

It was bittersweet news for the Kesse family. They seek closure while struggling to hold out hope Jennifer is somehow still alive.

"Someday it has to be, we're going to find Jennifer, someday," Drew said.

Drew also told Eyewitness News the private company has agreed to search other areas, too, but so far nothing has been scheduled. Even though police came up with nothing, they are still more than willing to follow any leads that come in.

Jennifer's parents are on HLN. They said the dogs did hit on the dirt that they removed from the hole. Nothing was found though. Dirt was trucked in to fill that hole initially.  Now they want to try and find out where that dirt came from because Jennifer's car had some dirt on it.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - He made horrifying threats, claiming to have killed 16 people. He also boasted he might know something about the disappearance of Jennifer kesse. Now, the so-called "catch me killer" gets his wish. He's caught, but probably not the way he wanted. Cops nabbed him and now, he's just been indicted.

On Tuesday a grand jury in Gainesville, Georgia indicted the "catch me killer" on two charges, none of which include murder.

Andrew Scott Haley was indicted for tampering with evidence and false statements.

“To let his behavior go without any consequences is I don't think is right,” said Gary Rothwell from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The charges after catch me killer posted a video on You Tube called “Confessions of a serial killer.” On it he claimed he killed missing Georgia girl Tara Grinstead. He also claimed he was responsible for the death of 16 people and said he was going to kill again.

The website flagged by Jennifer Kesse’s dad Drew when catchmekiller posted it on a site for his missing daughter. His reaction to the You Tube post? “To me you just can't hardly get any lower than this.”

Investigators found that all Haleys claims were a hoax but investigators aren’t laughing. “We certainly hope is a deterrent for people who think it's funny to take credit for crimes on the internet and all the disruption it causes in people's lives,” said Rothwell.

Florida has strict laws against internet hoaxes. Georgia does not have those laws but since it was a Florida site the jury found case for the indictment. Rothwell says that credit really goes to the district attorney who would not let case drop.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jennifer Kesse's family has announced plans for a renewed search effort for the missing Orlando woman.

Drew and Joyce Kesse announced a "preplanned extensive ground search" with a news release Monday evening.

Kesse has been missing since Jan. 24, 2006.

The search, which will be performed by trained search and rescue teams, is planned for Aug. 1 and 2. The experts will look for Kesse, as well as other missing people in Central Florida, on a volunteer basis.

No law enforcement agencies are involved in the search, but the Kesses said police have been made aware of the search should they need to respond.

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The parents of a young woman who disappeared three and a half years ago are starting a renewed effort to find her this coming weekend. Jennifer Kesse went missing from her Orlando condominium near the Mall at Millenia in early 2006. Her car showed up three days later, but there was no sign of Jennifer.

Tips have slowed to a trickle, but her parents refuse to give up in their search. This weekend there will be a renewed effort to find her.

"What it's made up of is basically six or seven groups from around the state of Florida. They're total professionals and we're not even bringing in volunteers for this. It will be strictly a professional search," Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse said.

Kesse said he hopes there is a connection with the case of Tracy Ocasio, another woman who went missing from Orlando.

"Honestly, there's a lot of overlap, and to be quite honest with you, when we go out this weekend there's a lot of overlap in that we'll search areas where Tracy may be," he said.


The search will start early Saturday morning. Searchers will work by ground, boat, and air. They will be looking in areas near Jennifer's condominium, Orlando International Airport, and in Ocoee where Tracy Ocasio vanished in late May.

A familiar sight will return to Central Florida this weekend: people searching for a missing loved one.

This time, certified search and rescue teams are looking for missing Orlando resident Jennifer Kesse. But this search could be different from the others because they also will keep their eyes out for missing Ocoee resident Tracy Ocasio.

Some of the search areas for Kesse overlap possible locations where Ocasio may be located, her mother Liz Ocasio said earlier this week.

"The search this weekend is for Jennifer," Liz Ocasio told the Orlando Sentinel earlier this week. "But since some of the areas overlap, they won't just walk over her [tracy Ocasio] if they find her."
A tipster had reported seeing Ocasio's yellow Chevrolet Cobalt parked on the wrong side of a two-lane road near a wooded area the night she disappeared.

That is the first credible tip that police have had about the missing 27-year-old's car since it was found abandoned near James Hataway's home hours after she was reported missing on May 27.

Hataway was the last person to see Tracy Ocasio. He is being held at the Orange County Jail on unrelated drug charges.

Fifty to 70 trained searchers will be involved, as will multiple ATVs, search dogs and boats. Orlando police and the Orange County Sheriff's Office are not involved in the effort.

Kesse disappeared Jan 24, 2006. Police think she was abducted in the area of the Mosaic at Millenia condominium where she lived.

Large scale searches conducted earlier this summer by Texas EquuSearch didn't yield any clues about Ocasio's whereabouts.

Family members launched a search for new clues Saturday in the case of a Florida woman believed to have been abducted from her home near a mall more than three years ago, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

It wasn't clear whether there was anything specific that prompted the latest effort to find evidence about the 2006 disappearance of the 24-year-old woman, Jennifer Kesse.

About 70 certified volunteer searchers from around the state arrived in Orlando on Friday to help Kesse's parents find their missing daughter.

The trained searchers, many of whom are former or current firefighters, are funding the effort out of their own pockets, according to the local FOX affiliate.

Crews will be searching within a three-mile radius around John Young Parkway and Conroy Road on Saturday and Sunday. They'll use airboats with sonar, an amphibious vehicle, a remote-controlled drone airplane and cadaver dogs.

“This search is a joint ... effort with FL-3 ASAR as the sponsor of this mission working with five other top-notch certified search teams in Florida," according to a statement on a Web site established to find Kesse. "All six teams will take an equal part in this ... mission."

Kesse, who managed timeshare finances at a real estate company, was last heard from the night of Jan. 23, 2006, and never went to work as scheduled the next morning.

Her abandoned car was discovered about a mile from her Orlando home. Surveillance video taken on the grounds of her apartment complex shows an unknown man parking her black Chevrolet Malibu on the afternoon of Jan. 24.

There is a $10,000 reward for any information that leads authorities to the driver caught on camera.

Parents of 27-year-old Tracy Ocasio, who has been missing from a nearby neighborhood bar since May, hope the Kesse search crews will find clues leading to their daughter as well.

James Hataway, a person of interest in that case, is in jail on unrelated charges.

In January of this year, a convicted killer contacted Kesse's father saying he had information about his daughter's disappearance. David Russ, who in May was sentenced to death for the 2007 murder of 58-year-old Madeleine Leinen, asked to meet with Drew Kesse about Jennifer.

Detectives doubted Russ' claims, which did not lead to a break in the case.

There have been few other leads since Jennifer Kesse vanished. Months after her disappearance, her photo turned up on dating Web sites for lesbians and the elderly.

The last time anyone saw Jennifer Kesse was Jan. 24, 2006. Authorities said they believe someone abducted her at or near her Orlando apartment in the Mosaic at Millenia condo complex.

Almost four years later, her parents seemed as hopeful as ever and refused to give up on finding their only daughter.

"We're not letting evil win twice," Joyce Kesse said. "That's probably one of our biggest things. Evil will not win twice."

"We have lives," Drew Kesse said. "We understand bad happens, we do. We are doing things about it. It just can't rip you until you can't do anything about it...then what good are you?"
Searchers are trekking through the thick brush in the heat, hoping to find any clues over the weekend.

Mike Coffey, a professional and certified searcher with Search and Rescue of Central Florida, is also a schoolteacher.

"I take the love of helping people and the love of being in the woods and, voila, I am here," he said.

When asked if he'd ever give up, he said, "No not at all. There's always hope, you know? You just keep doing what you can do and keep hoping."

The Kesses said they'll never give up hope for their daughter.

The search for her and Ocasio will resume Sunday morning.

ORLANDO -- More than six hours of searching Saturday produced no evidence in the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse, a woman who disappeared without a trace in 2006.

For the latest search, half a dozen teams of certified search and rescue volunteers looked at areas by her home near the Mall at Millenia. The search was centered around the intersection of John Young Parkway and Presidents Drive.

These same spots were covered before but searchers didn't find anything.

Neither Orlando police nor Orange County deputies are involved in today's search.

The volunteers covered a three-mile radius around the intersection and called it off to avoid rising temperature. But they will return Sunday.

"It's painful for me. We know the statistics and we know the realities," said Joyce Kesse, Jennifer's mom.
The searchers relied on an unusual tool, a radio-controlled aircraft equipped with a remote control camera.
 
The only clue in the case is a three-year-old surveillance video of a man seen getting out of her car nearby then walking away.

Kesse is not the only case volunteers are looking into.

Searchers also covered the same ground looking out for any signs of Tracy Ocasio of Ocoee who has been missing since May.

Some areas in the Kesse case overlap areas where they are seeking clues in the Ocasio search.

Police are still examining a credible tip in the Ocasio case after a man came forward saying he saw Ocasio's car parked along a road the night she disappeared. The yellow Chevrolet Cobalt was seen parked on the wrong side of a two-lane road near a wooded area around the time she disappeared.

Saturday marked the first time Kesse's parents met Liz Ocasio, Tracy's mom.

Liz Ocasio vowed in July to dog James Hataway, possibly the last person to see Tracy Ocasio, at every court appearance.

Tracy Ocasio has been missing since she gave James Hataway a ride home from a MetroWest bar.

Hataway remains the only person of interest in her disappearance.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A new search is underway in Orange County Jennifer Kesse.

Kesse disappeared in January of 2006 when she was abducted outside her Orlando apartment.

Several search groups gathered at the search command post Saturday morning to go over what areas they would be searching.

In addition to manpower, searchers used an amphibious car, K-9 search teams, and airboats in an attempt to rule out more areas where Kesse could be.

For Jennifer’s mother, Joyce Kesse, their search seems endless, but the searching helps, even if nothing is found.

"We don't know what happened. We don't know if she's dead, but hopefully something will be revealed."

The search will continue all weekend. Local law enforcement is not involved in the search but say they will be ready and available if anything is found.

At one point, search teams were also going to search an area of interest in the case of Missing Ocoee woman Tracy Ocasio. They have since decided to call off that search, saying the Kesse search area is so large they wont have the time or resources to search another area.

Dozens of searchers from across Florida began a weekend quest looking for remains of a woman missing from her Orlando neighborhood since 2006.

Jennifer Kesse disappeared Jan. 24, 2006. She was 24 at the time, and police think she was abducted from the Mosaic at Millenia condominium where she lived.

Searchers spent hours Saturday marching through woods and homeless camps but came up empty-handed.

They were looking for any clues to her disappearance in an area stretching from near Orlando International Airport to portions of Ocoee. That is where the search for another missing woman, Tracy Ocasio, 27, has focused.

There might be some overlap in the search, but there was none Saturday.

The search crews need no volunteers and will be out in force again

ORLANDO -- The newest search for Jennifer Kesse wrapped up Sunday with no signs of the missing Orlando woman.
   
Nearly three dozen specially trained volunteers, along with search dogs, were back out near Kesse's home near the Mall at Millenia searching for any signs that could help in the investigation.

Searchers went into the weekend knowing it would be tough to find any clues.  But they say their work in Central Florida may not be done.
   
They now say they're working on a new search for missing Ocoee woman Tracy Ocasio.

"That is in the planning stage at this point,” said searcher Joe St. Cyr.  “We've been in the planning stages with the family, but we also need to contact Ocoee police before we do any type of search but that is in the works at this time."

Ocasio hasn't been seen since late May when she left a MetroWest bar with James Hataway.  He's a person of interest in the case.  Hataway is behind bars on other charges.

Kesse's Parents Won't Give Up Hope

ORLANDO, Fla. -- An intense search over the weekend failed to reveal any new clues to locate an Orlando woman who disappeared more than three years ago.

Searchers spent the weekend looking for clues in several areas of Orange County. Kesse's parents said the search is far from over.

K-9 units assisted in the search. Amaretto is a chocolate labrador retriever, who is 3 years old and certified by the National Association for Search and Rescue. She's in training to find human remains.

"The dogs can smell things that we can't. They smell things and detect things we can't detect," K-9 handler Whitney Hart said.
Because of their heightened senses, Amaretto can play a critical role in searching for the missing. As crews looked for Kesse, Amaretto, who is still in training, stayed back, but she'll soon be ready for duty.

"When they indicate or find something, it depends on the moment. It's sometimes very emotional, and sometimes it's overwhelming. You are kind of caught up in the moment," Hart said.

It can be a moment that those who've spent countless hours searching by foot, all-terrain vehicle and airboat hoped for.

"It's bringing peace and closure to the family. Not knowing where someone is, to me, is the worst fear," Hart said.

Kesse's parents, Drew and Joyce Kesse, want peace and closure. But until that day comes, they have the support of agencies across the state, and the support is hard to miss.

"You have a lot of people that have no motive other than the passion in their heart, than the willingness, the desire and the training to try to help," Joyce Kesse said.

Statewide panel to review Jennifer Kesse case
Experts from across the state will meet today in Orlando to help police with the Jennifer Kesse investigation.

More than a dozen law enforcement officers and criminal justice experts from across the state are meeting in Orlando today, where they are being briefed on the Jennifer Kesse case.

The 17-member panel -- known as a Specialized Multi-Agency Review Team -- was brought together by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to, hopefully, help Orlando police with their investigation into Kesse's disappearance.

The panel members are not associated with the Kesse case, and the hope is that they can provide a fresh set of eyes and thoughts onto the Orlando investigation.

SMART teams, which have existed in Orlando since 2003, have been successful in helping other law-enforcement agencies solve cases, said FDLE Assistant Special Agent in Charge Danny Banks.

Several months ago, Orlando Police Chief Val Demings asked FDLE if they could assemble a panel to look at the Kesse case.

Banks said peer reviews of cases are "extremely helpful."

Today's meeting is part of the active criminal investigation, and so it is not open to the public, Banks said.

While the Orlando investigators are briefing the panel on the case, panel members will be asking questions and offering suggestions.

Banks said Demings wants to ensure her agency has made use of every resource available to them to help solve Kesse's case.

"I'd like to hope that it generates a lead," Banks said.

Father fears Jennifer Kesse sold into sex

The father of a Orlando woman who has been missing for nearly four years is helping raise awareness about the underground business that he believes took his daughter.
24-year-old Jennifer Kesse vanished with out a trace on January 24th, 2006.

Detectives have searched tirelessly, but found virtually nothing.

"Honestly, at this point, I think my daughter was trafficked," says father Drew Kesse.

Living with that dark belief, Kesse has educated himself on the black market that sends young American girls to the far corners of the earth.

"It's a $32 billion a year business," he says.

Eastern Europe, Japan and Korea are the most likely destinations for young Americans kidnapped into the slave trade, according to Kesse.

"A large majority are people who want an American woman for themselves," Kesse says.

102,000 people are missing on any given day in the United States. Kesse believes it's naive to think that some not over seas being used as sex slaves.

But instead of wallowing in the pain of not knowing what happened to his daughter, Drew and his wife Joyce have been advocates for missing persons.

Drew Kesse is president of the Florida Missing Children's Day Foundation. He will speak Saturday at a fundraiser that's been organized by Stop Child Trafficking Now.

Kesse says he and his wife have also reached out to others whose loved ones are missing, including the family of Tracy Ocasio, an Ocoee woman who went missing in May.

"I've had many conversations with Joe(Tracy's father)," Kesse said. "We helped set some searches with some people that we had used in the past."

Needless to say, it's an unfortunate way to make new friends.

ORLANDO -- The case of missing Central Florida woman Jennifer Kesse is now featured on a new national Web site dedicated to finding those who have disappeared.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, was set up by the National Forensic Science Technology Center in Largo for the U.S. Department of Justice.

The database was designed to compile and share detailed information among law enforcement agencies and the public about missing people.

Kesse has not been seen since vanishing from her Orlando home in January 2006.

“There needed to be a place where everyone could access it, so that people know they’re actively looking for their loved ones, and medical examiners and coroners know people are trying to help them identify the unidentified,” said Kevin Lothridge, CEO of the technology center.

The site also features a section where you can leave tips, which are then verified.

I think they have the guy who did this in custody but they need to connect him to the crime itself. It's just too much coincidence for one case.

If you are talking about James Hataway, I disagree. I do not believe he has anything to do with it.

That is who I was talking about. I thought the very grainy video shots of the person outside the gate and his profile may very well fit his. I could be wrong of course but I think it is really worth checking to see if he owned a hat like that or was seen wearing one like it around the time of the disappearance.

The person responsible needs to be caught regardless if it is him or not. I just don't think he should be ruled out. There are coincidences of him being near and socializing at places where at least 2 missing women lived or visited. I would not rule him out completely at all.

JMO Nobody should be ruled out as far as i am concerned.

Family of missing woman getting threats

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - In January of 2006 Drew Kesse’s daughter Jennifer Kesse vanished from her apartment near the Mall at Millenia. Now more worries for her father as police investigate death threats against him.

After Jennifer Kesse disappeared, www.jenniferkesse.com was set up to help find the missing girl. For years people have posted well wishes, encouragement, even tips on where the girl might be. And every morning Drew Kesse reads the guestbook portion of the site.

In the last few months some of the emails have taken a different tone. Some of the emails FOX 35 obtained say “I have a beef with you” and some, what he calls a full on threat on his life. “I know what you drive. I see where you live. I go where you like to go. I hope you all are not involved in any accidents.”

Kesse has blocked the IP address for the person or persons sending the threats. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now gathering all of the emails and FOX 35 has learned investigators have a good handle on who the person may be. Information will soon be sent to the state attorney to see if charges can be filed for cyber stalking.

But in the meantime the already distraught father has to worry that this person may take the emails one step further but he says he’s ready for what could happen next. “The thing that is not going to happen to the Kesses again is we are not going to be victimized and we will not become victims again.”

Last year threatening voicemails showed up on Drew Kesse's answering machine. Police investigated but the state attorney decided not to prosecute.

A pair of anonymous videos posted on the Internet credited to the "catchmekiller" got Andrew Scott Haley plenty of attention.

What Haley called part of a "mystery game" and was later deemed a "hoax" by authorities had more than 15 law enforcement officers swarming through his Gainesville home during a February raid.

In a court hearing Friday, Haley testified that the arrival of officers at the upscale home he shared with his wife and mother-in-law placed him in fear.

"I was scared that I was going to go to jail," Haley said. "I thought I was wanted for murdering someone, all because of a game."

Haley is charged with tampering with evidence and providing false statements in connection with two videos that were posted on the Internet site YouTube.
According to the indictment, Haley, with his face and voice obscured, claimed to have killed Tara Grinstead, an Ocilla woman missing since 2005. The "catchmekiller" also claimed to have killed 16 people, according to the indictment.

On Friday, Judge David Burroughs viewed the pair of videos in question. Both are shorter than five minutes and feature an ominously-voiced person with face blacked out providing "clues."

Law enforcement officials first learned of the videos when one was linked to a Web page devoted to the case of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse. Kesse, 28, and Grinstead, 31, both were featured in a February episode of the CBS television show "48 Hours."

Someone claiming to be the "catchmekiller" later phoned an Orlando television station to say the videos, which were taken down, were merely a game.

Authorities say the phone call and the Internet postings were traced back to Haley.

Officials say the hoax had to be pursued no matter how implausible, and cost hundreds of investigative personnel hours in two states.

Burroughs on Friday denied a defense motion to have Haley’s statement to the GBI suppressed. The judge, noting that Haley had signed a form waiving his Miranda rights, said the interview was given "freely and voluntarily."

The judge also upheld the search of a hospital room where authorities seized a laptop computer. Haley’s pregnant wife was being treated in a room at Northeast Georgia Medical Center where one Internet posting was traced, according to court testimony.

The defense is still expected to challenge the indictment as it applies to the facts of the case.

District attorney Lee Darragh has previously said while there are no specific laws in Georgia addressing Internet hoaxes, the charges used to indict Haley apply.

The only substantial lead that has panned out thus far in Jennifer`s case is a possible connection between Jennifer`s disappearance and the disappearance of another Florida girl, Tracy Ocasio.

Now this man, James Hataway, has not been charged in that case but he was allegedly seen leaving a bar with Tracy right before she disappeared. Hataway`s ex-girlfriends told detectives he had a morbid interest in vampires, cannibalism, serial murderers. Hearing these details terrified Tracy`s distraught mom.

D. KESSE: You know, yes, there`s connections. There`s three or four of them, where he worked. He actually, the Taproom was actually two properties away from where Jennifer used to live two months beforehand. I have said many times, I have been in the Taproom myself handing out flyers. I believe he was from Tampa area at one point also, which is where Jennifer grew up. Yes, there are some commonalities there.

But we have to wait. He`s a bad guy.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The family and friends of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse have raised a reward for her return to $1 million.

Drew Kesse said the offer is only good for his daughter's safe return -- and only for the next month and a half. He said he would make an official statement Thursday morning.

He believes that his daughter became the victim of human trafficking. He said that after four years he hopes that whoever has Jennifer is ready to give her up.

Jennifer Kesse was last seen at her condo complex, The Mosaic, near the Mall at Millenia, in January 2006.
Drew Kesse said he was frustrated with Orlando police. He said investigators haven't told him anything lately.

The family of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse has raised the reward in her case to $1 million.

The catch? To collect, Kesse has to be returned unharmed by Feb. 24.

Kesse disappeared nearly four years ago on Jan. 24, 2006. Police think she was abducted at or near Mosaic at Millenia condominiums, where she lived. She was 24 years old at the time.

A 17-member panel brought together by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was briefed on the case in September. So far, however, Kesse remains missing.

I wonder what makes him think this to be true ?
There is apparently no evidence to suggest this.

I have thought this for a very long time and the reason is because, she just vanished. I think this is what happened to Tracy Ocasio, too. Human trafficking is huge, with Atlanta being a main area for this. It would take no time at all to get someone from Fl to Atlanta and then poof, they are gone forever, sadly.

Maybe this is a way of coping for the Kesse's.....human trafficking would most likely mean Jennifer is alive. But I don't think this reward will bring any answers.....but who knows, miracles do happen.  My prayers are with them all.

Do we have any other victims of such a crime ? Are there any other missing people missing ?
Who are the bad guys ?

I think this crime has many similarities to the culprit in the ocasi case and his pattern of behavior is similar.. Always a vehicle involved and leaving a vehicle in plain sight and he looks like the guy in the video..
Jennifer also went to the same club and shopping complex Tracy ocasi went missing from..
The only difference is This time in Tracy's case there was video and witness.


I think people are looking around the world for American Victims of forced human sexual servitude in other nations and Jennifer is well educated and resourceful. She could find a way to get info out if given enough time.

It has been more than 3 years since Jennifer’s Abduction, we understand that many visitors to this website are looking for more information about what happened to our daughter, Jennifer, from the beginning. We are very grateful to the local and national media for all the coverage that has been provided for Jennifer and to our search efforts - they have done a tremendous job. As means of re-capping Jennifer’s abduction - Jennifer, was reported missing when she failed to show up for work at Central Florida Investments, on the morning of Tuesday January 24th, 2006 in Orlando Fl. after a long weekend in St. Croix with her boyfriend and other friends (they Flew both ways, there was no cruise as some people think). For those of us close to Jennifer, we knew something was wrong immediately. If she was going to be late for work or a meeting she would call. In fact Jennifer had good routines she and her boyfriend (who lives hours away in south Florida and Jennifer in Orlando) called each other everyday while driving to work in the morning and would speak with each other every night before going to bed, having a long distance relationship, seeing each other on weekends and Holidays. On Monday, the morning of 1/23/06, Jennifer left her boyfriends home in south Florida and drove directly to work in Ocoee Fl, not going home first but directly to her work as she usually did when she stayed the weekend in south Florida. On the night of Monday January 23rd, Jennifer left work at approx 6pm, walking out of the building, where she worked with her boss and wishing each other a good evening and will meet again in the morning. That evening, Jennifer talked to her Father, Mother, Brother and later with some friends  and her boyfriend by phone as usual and that was the last anyone has seen or heard from Jennifer – Telephone call to her boyfriend at 9:57 pm 1/23/06 – Monday night.

Jennifer and her boyfriend did not talk the morning of Tuesday, January 24th. Her boyfriend called Jennifer at work and was told she had not arrived yet. When she did not show up for work, her employer immediately called us, her family, to see if we knew where Jennifer was, we tried to reach her at her condo and on her cell phone and computer but attempts were unsuccessful. Police were notified and the journey into Jennifer’s personal Hell began. Reaction was quick, within 2 hours of not being at work - her disappearance was known and being acted on by family and police. Upon reaching Jennifer’s condominium by mid afternoon, we found it normal.  Everything was clan and in place. She had obviously slept in her bed, taken a shower (wet towel and shower) and had a couple outfits on the bed she was choosing to wear. Her tracks seem to cease from when she left her condo for work usually around 7:30-7:45am each work day. By 4 pm, family and friends of Jennifer had fliers made and being distributed within the immediate area of her condominium located at Mosaic at Millenia condominiums next to the Mall at Meillenia, Orlando, Fl. and awareness has not stopped since.

On Thursday 1/26/06 at high noon, police were notified that Jennifer's car was abandoned in a condominium complex 1.2 miles down the same road from where she lived in The Huntington on the Green Condominiums at the corner of Texas and Americana Ave in Orlando, Fl.. Her car was parked by a Suspect (on video) who pulled into a visitors parking space waited 32 seconds to exit her car and walked away, never looking back. Please see the video of the Suspect on this website.  There is a reward of up to $10,000 for the identification and/or whereabouts of the Suspect. There were valuables left in Jennifer’s car, so police do not feel it was for robbery or carjacking, but for Jennifer, herself.  Bloodhounds tracked a scent from where her car was found back to her condo complex losing the scent on Jennifer’s condo property. Thousands of tips have and CONTINUE to come in for which we are thankful for.

Jennifer is a strong, fun loving, career minded, responsible young woman. If she was running late to work she would have called which is why we all became concerned immediately. At no time had Jennifer shown signs of discontent with her life, relationships or work environment, quite the opposite in fact.

Jennifer’s case, even 3 years old now remains ACTIVE!!!! Extremely ACTIVE!!! The Orlando Police Department and all other agencies involved have been extremely professional, keeping us posted on a regular basis with honest and open lines of communication. We know they are doing everything in their power to help bring Jennifer home and so are we.

I am a huge supporter of Drew and Joyce. I think this investigation was so royally botched in the first 8 months it may be impossible without finding her, or a confession, to ever know what happened to her.

I know this may not be popular, but I am convinced if FDLE were to release some of the phone records in this case, it would generate leads.  If they believe their investigation is leading them to human trafficking, what would the harm be?

The “Beacon of Hope for the Missing” event includes free fingerprinting and ID cards for children, personal safety training and even a martial arts school.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mall at Millenia. The public has been urged to participate.
As for the Jennifer Kesse case, her family has upped the ante, hoping the event can serve as an outlet to collect new leads.

Despite threats, search goes on
BRADENTON, Jan 24, 2010 (The Bradenton Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Drew and Joyce Kesse's lives changed forever on this day four years ago.

Their daughter -- and oldest child -- was abducted near her Orlando condominium.
Jennifer Kesse, a 24-year-old financial analyst, left her home on Jan 24, 2006, to go to work.

She never made it. There were no signs of struggle at her condo.

Since Jennifer's disappearance, her parents, who live in Bradenton, have turned their vehicles into mobile billboards with images of Jennifer and phone numbers, hit the national television circuit, and started a Web site flooded with images of her and information about her case.
They've done it all in the hopes that someday Jennifer might be found.
Her story has even been featured on the Maury Povich and the Montel Williams shows, which are replayed heavily abroad, according to her father.
"People are aware of Jennifer," said Drew Kesse. "She's all over." Yet while many people have reached out to the family with words of encouragement, the intense media exposure has come at a price.
There have been countless threats, Drew said, in written form on the guest book at www.jenniferkesse.com and a some by phone.

Pictures of a smiling Jennifer with sandy blonde hair and green eyes have been copied off her family's Web site and used on dating and adult Web sites.

A man in Ghana heard Jennifer's story and said he was holding her for $6.2 million.

Another man, Andrew S. Haley, made a video toting himself as the "Catch Me Killer" on YouTube and claimed to kill 16 people, including Jennifer, according to an indictment filed last year in Hall County, Ga. He offered to give clues to see if people could catch him.

Authorities did catch him, but he never killed anyone. He faces charges of making false statements.

"It's weird crap," Drew said.

But it hasn't all been like that.
On their Web site, one person writes, "My heart goes out to your family. I can't even begin to understand how you feel." Others ask questions about Jennifer: "The folks on the forum are starving for information about Jennifer, everyday things, that might seem unimportant to most people. ... Did she have long term goals? What is her favorite color? What is her favorite take out food?" People in more than 60 countries have contacted the Kesses to say they've heard Jennifer's story, Drew Kesse said.

The threats begin Things took a sinister turn, however, when someone began making veiled threats on the family's Web site.

"I know what you drive. I see where you live. I go where you go. ... I hope you're not in an accident," read one entry in the guest book, obtained through court documents.

Threat after threat followed. The last being just last week. Drew Kesse said he has removed 100 pages off the Web site from the same person.

"Don't threaten someone's family who has been taken and we don't even know where she is now. Don't do that to my family," Kesse said.

A man also left threatening phone messages a couple of years ago on the family's Bradenton voice mail, saying "You're gonna pay," and that the Kesses' son was next, according to court documents.
The Orlando Police Department forwarded telephone logs to Bradenton Police and the case was forwarded to the State Attorney's Office in Oct. 2007. They named a 27-year-old Ferndale man as a suspect, but he has never been formally charged, according to reports.

The state declined to file on the case at the time because the voice on the machine "was left in a distorted manner," according to court documents.

Drew Kesse continues to block the IP address of the threatening poster's computer, but the suspect, or suspects, continues to get new IP addresses, he says. When it was traced back to a residence by a Webmaster and prosecutors, it matched the same location that the Kesses received the harassing phone calls, he said.

Last month the Kesses filed injunctions in court to protect themselves.

However, Manatee County Circuit Court Judge Janette Dunnigan denied the motion for the injunction because the identity could not be proven and the threat was not considered credible by legal standards.

Dunnigan declined to comment for this story because the decision was made in closed chambers The State Attorney's Office also declined comment.

Protection in the law? According to local authorities, nothing in state law protects the Kesses from harassment online.
Florida currently does not have a menacing threats law for electronic media, according to legal experts.

While the state does have a cyber stalking law, the threats have to be considered credible -- meaning the person has to have the means to carry out the action and the threat must explicitly state harm or death against a person's life.

As for the online threats the Kesses are receiving, Mark Lipinski, a criminal defense attorney based in Bradenton, said the language in the threats has to be more explicit and credible to prosecute.

"He's being menacing, but there's no statute in Florida that would cover that," he said. "It's close. It's inching toward the line, but it just isn't enough." Investigators are also challenged in placing a person behind the keyboard if they won't cooperate in an interview.

Bradenton Police Department Detective Jim Curulla said aside from the language sometimes not meeting requirements, it's difficult to prove who is sitting at the computer.

"When you go to do family interviews and everyone lawyers up, you can't prove who's using the computer and it's unfortunate," he said. "That's why the state can't prosecute. They can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt who's doing it." "Everyone feels bad for the Kesses and everyone's trying to help, but unfortunately everything I've sent over to the state gets declined." With that in mind, Drew Kesse is supporting a proposed bill in the upcoming session of the Florida Legislature that would include a provision focusing on online threats to kill or do harm to a person or their family. The violation would be a second-degree felony.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Janet Adkins R-Fernadina Beach.

"The intent is to bring the legislation into the 21st century and be able to include things like e-mails and sites like Facebook," said Larry Williams, a legislative aid to Adkins.

The bill, HB317, is divided into two parts and features an addition to the Florida state law on threats.

The first half focuses on threats being made during domestic violence, but it's the second portion of the bill that makes online written communication -- even if its anonymous -- that contains threats to kill or do bodily harm to a person or their family members a second degree felony.

"It's going to give teeth to the police and say you can't do that," Kesse said.

Lipinski said the bill would need to be reworded to include menacing language rather than threats for harm in order to make a difference in a case like the Kesses.

Fletcher Baldwin, a law professor at the University of Florida who specializes in cyber crime, said a law specifically dealing with online threats is long overdue.
We turned the corner long ago. You have to have different focus when dealing with online threats. Invasion of privacy is not the issue here. You put yourself out in the public arena and you threaten people's lives. That's not right," he said.

'We just want her found' Amid the threats and spectre of court injunctions, the Kesses travel each year to Orlando to raise awareness about Jennifer's disappearance and educate others about safety.

The annual safety event, which was held Saturday, has grown each year to include free fingerprinting and IDing to anyone at the Mall at Millenia in Orlando.

This year a group of individuals is offering a $1 million reward leading to Jennifer's safe return by Feb. 24.

"Somebody knows. We just try to keep awareness up everywhere. The leads are better than ever before," Drew Kesse said.

Orlando Police Department Sgt. Barbara Jones said the detectives have received more than 1,000 tips in the case.
Whatever comes in we sort through and follow up. Anytime you get media coverage, you'll get some. Some of it will be good and some of it will be bad," she said. "Of course the tip we need unfortunately hasn't come in yet. Jennifer is still missing." And despite the threats they've received, the Kesse family will continue to look for Jennifer.

"Tell me something else to do and I'll do it. We have unconditional love for Jennifer, Kesse said.

Enact stronger law on threatening Web posts BRADENTON HERALD EDITORIAL | Bradenton case shows weakness of current code


This is undoubtedly one case where there ought to be a law. Society must catch up to the malevolence all too prevalent on the Internet. Some should be deemed criminal.

The case in point: Drew and Joyce Kesse have been living a parent’s worst nightmare for the past four years — the unsolved abduction of their 24-year-old daughter, Jennifer, in Orlando. The Bradenton couple’s efforts to secure information about their daughter’s disappearance includes an Internet site stocked with images, appearances on national television and other publicity.

Their determined and admirable efforts have generated a great deal of sympathy, encouragement and leads, especially in postings on the Web at www.jennifer kesse.com.

Compounding their anguish, though, are the miscreants and parasites who exhibit twisted behavior and threatening comments via the Internet — all beyond the pale. “Weird crap,” Drew Kesse told Herald reporter Beth Burger for an in-depth article Sunday on the fourth anniversary of Jennifer’s kidnapping.

One lowlife attempted to extort millions, maintaining he held her for ransom. Another even claimed to have killed her along with more than a dozen others in a YouTube video.

But the veiled threats from one person — posted across some 100 pages on the family’s Web site — are deeply disturbing.

Plus, someone left threatening phone messages, one stating: “You’re gonna pay.” With some detective work by a Webmaster and prosecutors, the Kesses discovered the source of the phone calls matched the residence of the threatening poster’s computer.
Unfortunately, the Kesses have discovered that as abhorrent as all this is, criminal it is not.

The Manatee County Circuit Court declined to grant the family an injunction in the case, ruling the perpetrator’s identity had not been proven and the threat was not credible enough by legal standards.

Florida lacks a law against menacing threats delivered via electronic media. The state’s cyber stalking law requires threats be credible, which means the comments must be explicit about personal harm or death and the perpetrator must have the means to execute the threat.

Apparently, the Kesses’ tormentor has not quite crossed that line. In addition, proving who’s working the keyboard beyond a reasonable doubt is difficult without witness cooperation or a confession.

Come March when the regular session of the state Legislature convenes, lawmakers will be met by a bill that makes online written communication with threats of bodily harm or death a second-degree felony. That would cover e-mail, social networking sites like Facebook and postings on sites such as www.jenniferkesse.com.

In Burger’s report, Bradenton criminal defense attorney Mark Lipinski advocated the legislation include menacing communication as well — which would then cover the Kesses’ case.

Nobody should have to endure that kind of endless and senseless harassment. Florida law needs to catch up to technology and provide protections from these kinds of online threats, which should be considered terrorism of a sort.

Missing Woman Last Seen Leaving Downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Police are searching for a missing woman last seen leaving downtown Orlando early Sunday morning.

Authorities said Amy Renee Hickman, 25, was last seen in the 10 block of W. Church Street wearing a black short, black capri pants and black heels. She stands 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs about 155 pounds and has long, blonde hair and green eyes.


Police said Hickman left a local bar at about 2 a.m. with friends and a man. They went somewhere to eat until about 3:30 a.m., police said.

Tip Prompts New Search For Missing Orlando Woman

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Orlando Police Department is searching a wooded area Friday morning near Oak Ridge Road and Wakulla Way (see map), west of Orange Blossom Trail, after receiving a tip in the case of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse.

“I am shaking right now. This one is off the charts,” Jennifer’s father Drew told WFTV reporter Ryan Hughes Friday morning. “It is hitting very hard.”

The Orlando Police Department, FDLE and Investigations are following up a tip in the Jennifer Kesse Missing/Endangered Adult Case," investigators wrote in a morning release.

OPD has dispatched an Emergency Response Team to a vacant field related to the case. Investigators said "any areas of interest will be thoroughly examined."

Skywitness 9 was over the area being searched Friday morning (images | raw video) and it showed a large backhoe in one specific area with two or three individuals on their knees searching. They were occasionally pulling items out from the earth, including cloth that was put into a bucket, but it was unclear what they are or if they have any relation to the search for Jennifer Kesse.

At least one dozen investigators are on the scene and the entire area is blocked off.

State law-enforcement officials are digging in an empty field in south Orlando this morning after police received a tip regarding the disappearance of Jennifer Kesse.

Carol Frederick of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said agents are at the site, just west of Orange Blossom Trail, between Oak Ridge Road and Wakulla Way.

Aerial shots showed agents digging in the dirt, sifting it and putting samples of the soil in tall orange plastic buckets.

Sgt. Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police Department said they were called to that area sometime around 9 a.m. Jones did not confirm when they received the tip or who called it in to the Police Department.

Kesse disappeared Jan. 24, 2006. Police think she was abducted at or near the Mosaic at Millenia condominium community.

Orlando Police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement have converged on a vacant field to dig for missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse.

Authorities have not said yet what brought them to the field except that they received a tip. The field is roughly 100 yards wide and very remote, covered in tall weeds, downed trees, and garbage. It sits behind a run down warehouse and a Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits restaurant just south of Oakridge Road on Orange Blossom Trail.

It's not clear exactly what the crews are doing, but they have a backhoe and are said to be digging into the ground.

Orlando Police would not release more details, but did say any areas of interest will be thoroughly examined.

Kesse disappeared four years ago from her condo near the Mall at Millenia.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A search is under way Friday in Orlando in the case involving Jennifer Kesse, who has been missing since 2006.
Investigators with the Orlando Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are searching an area west of Orange Blossom Trail between West Oak Ridge Road and Wakulla Way after receiving a tip.

Sources told Local 6 that a tipster claiming to be a family member of the person who may have abducted Kesse said Kesse's body is possibly buried in the field. Three dogs alerted on an area, prompting a larger dig using heavy equipment.

"It's an area we're considering a crime area," Orlando police Sgt. Barb Jones said. "They're back there with equipment -- I guess it's a font-loader -- and they're going through methodically."

The vacant field is located about a mile from Kesse's condo, Mosaic at Millenia, where she was last seen.

Kesse's father, Drew Kesse, told Local 6 News that he's shocked about the news, saying this search seems different than several other searches involving his daughter.

Nothing Found In Field After Tip In Jennifer Kesse Case

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A credible tip in the Jennifer Kesse case led investigators to a vacant field in Orange County Friday, but nothing was found. The Orlando woman disappeared in January 2006.

The Orlando Police Department told Eyewitness News around 2:00pm that the dig on the property was almost over and had negative results. The Emergency Response Team will stay on the scene for a few hours, but most of the 50 or so officers will leave.

Orlando police said the area hasn’t officially been dismissed, but Friday’s search is coming to an end.

On January 24th back in 2006, a woman by the name of Jennifer Kesse just vanished. According to a report at gearthblog.com, the police quickly came to the conclusion that she had been abducted, but in the last four years, no solid information has turned up.

Shortly after, a website was set up to help spread all the information about Jennifer’s case. And a tip came in quite recently, which said her body was buried in a field in Orlando, Florida. The police conducted a massive search of the said field, but nothing came up.

With the field being so large – about 15 acres – the body could be in there anywhere. Meanwhile, users of the website came to a stunning revelation. Using Google Earth’s historical imagery, they found an image from around 1 month after she had disappeared.

Despite the fact that no other imagery was available during that time, it was still enough for the police to go on. The latest news now is that the police are planning to dig in that area based on the new information, that came from Google Earth.

I hope this latest tip and the Google technology will result in finding Jennifer Keese.  It's been much too long.  Time to bring Jennifer Kesse home.   ::MonkeyAngel::

Nope.... I am wondering if  Google Earth thingy is what the tip was that led them to search the field in mid-February.   We may be waiting for nothing...the search may have already happened.  ??

Cyber threats against family of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse lead to arrest

The family of missing Orlando woman Jennifer Kesse said they tried for years to call law enforcement's attention to a man they said was making threatening phone calls and sending menacing messages to them over the Internet.

Tyler J. Green, 28, of Clermont is out on bond on a second-degree felony count of written threats to kill or do bodily injury and one count of first-degree misdemeanor stalking in the case.

In 2007, Green dug up personal information on two officers in the Internal Affairs section, threatened them and made harassing phone calls to them for seven months, according to an Orlando police report. Charges were dropped.

Jennifer Kesse's father Drew Kesse is worried that it's only a matter of time before Green acts on his threats.

"All the writing's on the wall that this person is going to hurt someone," Kesse said.

Green did not respond to a request for comment.

Police think Jennifer Kesse was abducted from her Orlando condominium near the Mall at Millenia Jan. 24, 2006. Her case remains unsolved.

The harassment of the Kesses began in August 2007, when a stalker made threatening phone calls to their home, Drew Kesse said. The man said he knew what cars the family drove.

"I hope you don't get in to an accident," the stalker said, according to Drew Kesse.

The stalker said the missing woman's younger brother was "next," and wrote expletive-filled tirades against police and others on the website.

The stalker also used messages on jenniferkesse.com to threaten members of the Kesse family, Drew Kesse said.

Drew Kesse and wife Joyce Kesse filed for a injunctions Dec. 15, submitting more than 100 pages of supporting evidence, Drew Kesse said. Their request was dismissed before a court hearing took place, according to Manatee County court records.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents subpoenaed an Internet company in December and February to find out which subscriber sent the messages, according to an affidavit for Green's arrest.

They traced the messages to the account of Clermont-area resident Larry Green, who denied sending the messages, but mentioned his son Tyler Green developed paranoid schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder after the deaths of relatives, the affidavit states.

"He [Larry Green] was aware that his son Tyler had episodes, but did not realize that they were creating criminal acts," it states.

Tyler Green was arrested Friday and released on $6,000 bond Monday evening.

In 2007, Orlando Police issued a warrant for his arrest on counts of aggravated stalking and corruption by threat against a public servant, saying he harassed members of Orlando police's Internal Affairs section for seven months, according to a police report.

Tyler Green was upset after being issued a trespass warning in June 2006 while at the Central Florida Fairgrounds on West Colonial Drive. He called Internal Affairs to complain. The department sent him paperwork to complete and submit, but he never did.

Instead, Tyler Green called officers repeatedly and dug up their personal information, including the name of an officer's relative, the report states. He and said he had a handgun he used to protect himself from people he "has issues with," the report states.

A search of Green's Clermont-area home revealed "numerous firearms," computer equipment and hand-written notes referring to then-Orlando Police Chief Mike McCoy and other officers, the report states.

Tyler Green was also arrested on marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession counts. He agreed to enter a pre-trial diversion program, and Orange County prosecutors dropped the stalking-related charges Aug. 2009.

He pleaded in Lake County court in the drug-possession charges and was sentenced to one year probation, according to Lake County court records. Adjudication of guilt was withheld.

Kesse has been missing for four years. In a meeting with her parents, investigators said they've chased all viable leads and nothing has panned out.

Kesse's parents said they were very frustrated after leaving the meeting with police. They said they were told the detective assigned to the case will work new leads, but he'll also work other cases.

The Kesses said they would like their daughter's disappearance to be classified as a cold case, which would mean a fresh set of eyes would handle it.

The Kesses said they'll do everything in their power to find their daughter, with out without the help of the Orlando Police Department.

A person of interest who dropped off the University of Central Florida student's car still hasn't been found. There's a $10,000 reward for information leading to him and $15,000 for help finding Jennifer Kesse.

Cops Launch Push To Solve Missing Persons Cases

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando police have launched a new push to solve over a dozen missing persons cases. Some of the cases date all the way back to the 1980s.

Earlier this month, Orlando police announced that all leads in the Jennifer Kesse disappearance have been exhausted.

Police wanted the public to know they have 15 other cases that need new tips too. The police chief joined her team of missing persons detectives Wednesday morning to outline the other cases and announce a new tip line that's been set up to field the cases.

Kesse is far from the only case out there. Four cases date back to the 80s, six are still open from the 90s and three people have disappeared since Jennifer Kesse vanished in 2006.

Police Chief Val Demings said it's unfortunate that all cases are not a high-profile in the eyes of the public or the media.

Last week, the new missing person’s hotline was set up. The number is 407-246-2916. Police also released a packet of unidentified deceased people.

They say technology and data sharing is helping to solve these type cases.

Jennifer Kesse Missing: Police Search for Orlando Woman Called Off

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS) Police are calling off the official search for Jennifer Kesse, a 24-year-old Orlando woman who vanished four years ago. Drew Kesse and his wife, Joyce, were told Thursday that Orlando police have exhausted all credible leads in their daughter's case.

According to the  Orlando Sentinel,  detectives say they pursued their last plausible lead this February, when they searched an overgrown field. More than 60 law-enforcement officers walked, dug and sifted through the site but found no clues. A tip triggered the search, which was the third for Kesse in nine months.

Police believe Kesse was abducted from her condominium near the Mall at Millenia in January 2006. She failed to show up for work at Central Florida Investments on Jan. 24, and her car was found abandoned two days later, about a mile from where she lived.

The Sentinel reported the Kesses met with law enforcement for nearly three hours Thursday, including Orlando police Chief Val Demings. Drew Kesse said he told Demings he doesn't have faith in her department, which he said botched the investigation early on, before Demings was in charge. However, he praised the lead detective in the case.

"They tried their best," said Kesse. "We're fortunate that we're very strong people. And we don't stop. We have unconditional love for Jennifer."

The family vows to continue the search on their own. They maintain a Web site, jenniferkesse.com. A reward of as much as $15,000 is being offered "Closure is everything," Drew Kesse to the newspaper. "To be in limbo, you can't even call it hell. There's not even a word for it"

Police still consider the investigation active, they said through a spokeswoman. The criminal-investigations division will pursue any additional viable leads.

Playing cards target Manatee cold cases

MANATEE — The brutality of the crime shocked the community: A 42-year-old woman was shot to death in front of her 13-year-old daughter, who the gunman then pistol-whipped.

Machelle Brinson’s Nov. 19, 2007, killing during a home invasion in Palmetto remains unsolved — a source of great frustration for Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detectives. There is very little forensic evidence and no cooperation from the public on the case, Manatee Sheriff’s Brad Steube said.

Now Steube is hoping that Brinson’s case profile — included in a new deck of playing cards outlining details on cold cases across Florida — will lead to tips in the case.

On Friday, the Florida Association of Crimestoppers announced a fourth edition of the cards, which will be sold to inmates in Florida’s prisons in an effort to generate leads on 52 missing persons and homicide cases.

The deck also includes a double fatal shooting more than three years ago in Oneco.

Sheriff’s detectives are still searching for whoever shot two men sitting in a GMC Yukon parked outside the Tia Oli Restaurant, at 6320 15th St. E., on Jan. 21, 2007.

Brinson is the three of diamonds; Fortino Hernandez-Ramirez and Jose Bautista-Guzman share the four of clubs.

“It only takes the smallest piece of information sometimes that we can verify that can crack a case,” said Steube.

All of the 52 cards feature a profile of the victim, and most have a picture of the person unless they are juveniles.

FAC president Steve Rowland led the news conference at the Manatee County jail attended by Steube, officials with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and family members of victims on the cards. Rowland explained that inmates often have the most knowledge of crimes that occur on the street, including who committed them. Criminals also tend to discuss their crimes with other inmates, he said.

“This puts these cases in front of that knowledgeable criminal base that may provide crucial information,” Rowland said.

The search for information is not only sought by law enforcement. Behind the faces on the playing cards are family members desperate for clues about their loved ones, according to Drew Kesse, whose 24-year-old daughter is the seven of diamonds.

Kesse’s daughter, Jennifer, has been missing since Jan. 24, 2006, from her condominium in Orlando. Over the years, numerous leads on her disappearance have dried up, but hope has not faded for the Kesse family, who live in Bradenton.

“Our love for Jennifer will always keep us going. This is just another tool in the war chest to try to get any information we can use. Maybe the lucky number seven will get something,” Kesse said, staring at the card holding his daughter’s picture.

Like Kesse’s case, the disappearance of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel has made national news with the first anniversary of her disappearance coming up April 25.

Drexel left her home in Rochester, N.Y,, last April and traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where she was last seen near a hotel where she was staying. Drexel’s grandfather John, of Ellenton, and aunt Keri, of Bradenton, attended the press conference Friday. Brittanee Drexel is the two of clubs.

“Her father lives in Tampa, so she has ties to Florida,” Keri Drexel said. “These cards are just another thing that gives us hope to find her. Awareness is power.”

That power has already been successful in Manatee, as a deck issued to inmates in 2007 led to the conviction of Brian Curry, who is now serving a life sentence for killing his ex-girlfriend Ingrid Lugo in Manatee.

Curry had been in prison on another offense and told two other inmates he killed Lugo. They called Crimestoppers after seeing her card in the deck, according to Rowland.

“We know it works,” he said.

The cards will be sold in prison commissaries in the coming days, and inmates are eligible for rewards for information, or can call anonymously. The public can also report information on crimes to Crimestoppers locally by calling (866) 634-TIPS.

Kesse family helps raise money for Missing Person's Foundation

Tampa, FL -- Bay area businesses banded together today to give back to the community.

Dozens of young professionals hosted an event with food, fun and live music. Part of the money raised goes to the Moffitt Cancer Center and the Florida Missing Person's Foundation.

The family of one of the Bay area's most high profile missing persons, Jennifer Kesse, was also there. The Tampa High School graduate went missing in Orlando more than four years ago. Since then, her case has grown cold.

"Three weeks ago, we were informed that police have gone through all viable leads, all 1,082 of them, so we're a desperate family still trying to spread the word of Jennifer's abduction," Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse, said. "We love her and will not stop and we hope to find her as soon as possible."

Kesse parents deal with criminal trial on missing daughter's birthday

Jennifer Kesse's parents plan to celebrate her 29th birthday today, but first they have to deal with the trial of a Georgia man who once hinted at being their daughter's killer.

Jennifer remains missing almost five years after she disappeared from her Orlando home on January 24, 2006.

Andrew Scott Haley called himself the "catchmekiller" and on You Tube he claimed to have 16 victims, hinting that Jennifer was once of them. Haley also claimed that missing Georgia teacher Tara Grinstead was another.

You had to play his game to find them. The "clue" was scrolled at the end of his videos. Instead the cops found him and he confessed to a hoax.

Jennifer's father remains upset with Haley, not even glancing at him during testimony Wednesday.

"You know, I haven't been looking his way. I don't know what it even is to look at the man," Drew Kesse told WDBO in a phone call from Hall County, Georgia, where the three-day trial is being held.

Haley is charged with making false statements and evidence tampering.

Drew Kesse says he and his wife, Joyce, plan a dinner to mark Jennifer's 29th birthday, wishing they were home instead. "It's obviously very tough doing what we have to do here and having that come up," said Kesse.

Fond memories of their daughter remain. "We loved her until the last day that we saw her and we still love her now," he explained.

Joyce wrote a letter to her missing daughter this month, In part, it reads: "I think of you and smile and remember the good times, our rough years when you were a teen, and then our relationship transforming once you went to college. I am so glad that we had the chance to have that adult relationship, not just mother-daughter, but 2 women who loved and respected and treasured each other."

Gainesville man found guilty in YouTube video hoax
Man gets 2 years in work-release jail for making false claims

By posting a pair of videos of himself on the Internet falsely claiming to have killed 16 people and implying he was involved in the abduction of a missing Georgia woman, Andrew Scott Haley broke the law, a jury decided Friday.

In what could be the first case of its kind in Georgia, Haley, 28, was convicted of felony tampering with evidence and making false statements and was sentenced by Hall County Superior Court Judge C. Andrew Fuller to two years in a work-release jail.

Haley’s short videos, which were posted in early February 2009 on the video-sharing website YouTube, showed him with his face digitally blacked out and speaking in a deep, electronically-altered voice. At the end of one video are clues that reference the case of a missing Ocilla woman. Haley posted a link to the video on a Web page dedicated to a missing Florida woman, along with the words, “Maybe I can help.”

The families of the two missing women said Friday they were thrown into emotional turmoil by the videos, which were credited to “catchmekiller” and prompted an extensive criminal investigation.

“We thought we might have found out what happened to our daughter,” said Joyce Kesse, mother of Jennifer Kesse, an Orlando, Fla., woman missing since January 2006. “The posting of that YouTube video was so heartless and painful and cruel.”

Connie Grinstead, stepmother of missing Ocilla woman Tara Grinstead, said she held on to hope that her stepdaughter, missing since October 2005, would still be alive.

“On the day I found out about your video, you robbed me of that hope,” Grinstead said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation spent hundreds of hours tracking down the source of the videos before interviewing Haley at his Gainesville home and determining there was no evidence he had anything to do with either woman’s disappearance.

Haley was charged with tampering with evidence for “knowingly creating false evidence to prevent the apprehension of and to obstruct the prosecution of another person,” according to the indictment. He also was charged with making false statements when he said in one of the videos that he killed 16 people.

Haley, who testified in his own defense, never denied posting the videos. He said he made them for an interactive mystery game and chose Grinstead’s case for the clues because she was a missing woman in his home state.

In an unusual case that pitted First Amendment rights in the Internet age against the interests of the criminal justice system, Haley’s attorney argued that her client’s videos were no different than the fiction found in movies, literature and songs.

In her closing argument to the jury, public defender Kristin Jordan quoted the song, “I Shot the Sheriff.”

“Bring Bob Marley in here, because either that was a confession or a false statement,” Jordan said. “(We know) it’s not — it’s a character in a song.”

“Everything points to his intent to create a game,” Jordan said. “Constantly he’s saying game, game, game. He conceived of this game in that world of fantasy.”

In the videos shown to the jury, Haley speaks of leaving clues that lead to bodies, which lead to additional clues. He says it is pointless for law enforcement to try to find him.

Assistant District Attorney J.D. Hart told the jury in her closing that Haley knew people would take his videos seriously.

“He wanted people to believe he was a real serial killer,” Hart said.

“What the defendant did is terrorize those families,” she continued. “He did it for his own selfish entertainment purposes. He wanted to be known for something — that’s not just a game. In Georgia, you don’t get to claim you murdered someone and post it on the Internet and when the GBI comes knocking on your door, say it’s just a game.”

The jury of seven women and five men spent less than an hour deliberating before returning with the verdict of guilty on both counts.

“We applied the law the judge gave us, and we just felt that after seeing the videos and hearing the testimony of the witnesses, that what he did came under the law, and he was truly guilty of the violations,” juror Brenda Ramsay said after the trial.

Ramsay said the jury did not let the emotional effect of the testimony from the two missing women’s relatives affect its deliberations.

“(But) I can say my heart breaks for them,” Ramsay said. “For the loss of their children, the doubt, and then to have someone almost taunt them.”

Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh said after the trial that the First Amendment does not protect all speech, “especially that which is designed to cause unjustified panic, such as yelling fire in a crowded theater where there is no fire.

“In this case, there was speech by this defendant by which he could have reasonably expected to cause an extensive criminal investigation as to whether his claims were true or false, to the detriment of these families and the public at large,” Darragh said.

Darragh said he hopes the state legislature will create a law that more specifically addresses similar situations.

Haley was apologetic as he addressed the court after his conviction.

“I made a mistake,” Haley said. “I hurt a lot of people. I learned from my mistake. I just want to tell the families I am sorry.”

Fuller told Haley that his actions were “an egregious example of complete lack of concern and care and consideration for other people.”

“The court can’t fathom what was going through your mind,” Fuller said. “It’s not within this court’s grasp to understand what you did and why you did it.”

The judge’s full sentence was 10 years, with the majority of it to be served on probation once Haley completes 24 months in work release. He also fined Haley $4,000 and ordered him to undergo mental health evaluation and treatment if any mental health issues are identified.

“I can’t imagine that there wouldn’t be one here,” Fuller said.

Law to make online threats felony
BRADENTON — Jennifer Kesse would have turned 29 last week.
The 24-year-old was taken near her Orlando condo a little over four years ago and has been missing ever since.

Since then her Bradenton parents have searched for her and stepped into a national media spotlight in hopes of giving her case exposure.

In the process, their lives have been open to threats from strangers mainly through a web site the Kesse family set up, www.jenniferkesse.com, to find Jennifer. The site features case information, family letters and message boards.

Anonymous posters were able to make threats online. However, last week Gov. Charlie Crist signed a bill making it a second-degree felony to send threats to kill or do bodily injury whether it’s signed or anonymous online.

The law, which takes effect Oct. 1, allows a person to be sentence up to 15 years in prison, according to state statutes.

“What it really did, it just truly brought the law into the 21st Century,” said Drew Kesse, Jennifer's father who lobbied for the bill introduced by Rep. Janet Adkins R-Fernadina Beach. “I think it’s going to help many families. ... It’s amazing how we do everything by computer now and how we didn’t have that included in the law in Florida.”

A 27-year-old man finally was admitted into a hospital and went before a judge after he made threats towards the Kesse family for years online.

And on Jennifer’s birthday, May 20, the Kesse family was in court for the five-day trial of a Georgia man who called himself the “Catch Me Killer,” falsely claiming he killed 16 people — including Jennifer Kesse. He was convicted of making false statements after he broadcast himself on Youtube, Kesse said.

“You just can’t go after people and threaten them,” he said recalling when he was turned down for an injunction in Manatee County courts when threats were made online towards his family.

Rep. Bill Galvano R-Bradenton, supported the bill which passed unanimously through the House last month.

“The existing statute didn’t reference electronic communication. Electronic communication is how we communicate today. And as beneficial as it has been, it’s also been a hotbed for problems,” he said. “One such issue is the ability to send threats and to be anonymous. This is an added tool. We need to have that in place.”

Mark Lipinski, a criminal defense attorney based in Bradenton, said there could be constitutional challenges arising from the new law.

“Mainly evidential, an unacted thought to do violence to a person is not a crime,” he said. “A person may think or even speak horrible violent things, but without some sort of act, it’s legal. The problem with written language is that it always depends on the context. People always talk in terms of metaphors”

Galvano said he doesn’t see a constitutional issue with the new law. He noted it could help in cases of bullying in schools.

“When the speech rises to the level that it becomes injurious to people, there’s the ability to regulate it. So, I don’t see the constitutional issue,” he said.

“There will be challenges. The challenge will come from someone (writing) an e-mail — that states someone wants to hurt or kill someone. They will not want to be guilty of doing that. Is it good policy for those types of messages to be sent unchecked?”

Lipinski said the issue is so widespread that many people could potentially face charges.

A lot of ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends are going to be in trouble. A lot of ex-husbands and ex-wives are going to be arrested after sending an e-mail. They’ll be in jail. Everyone’s going to be in jail because everyone’s going to do it. They will have to set up a ‘You hurt my feelings’ court,” he said. “Of course, every once in a while someone really and truly says things and they mean them. And of course, this is where this law is coming from.”

But for the Kesse family, the law brings some comfort.

It makes them feel “not only safer, but more confident to deal with anyone because the of the law — if they are to threaten us again,” Kesse said. “We’ll see. We’re still looking for Jennifer.

Officials said in a news release that the FBI agreed to take over the Jennifer Kesse case at the request of the Chief of Police.

Police recently met with the Kesse family and said they exhausted all possible leads in the case.

Kesse disappeared more than four years ago from her apartment near the Mall at Millenia.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The FBI is reviewing the disappearance of a central Florida woman several years ago.

Sgt. Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police said Friday that at the request of the police chief, the FBI has agreed to do a further review of the case of Jennifer Kesse, who went missing in January 2006 from her condo.

In April, Orlando police officials said all credible leads had been exhausted. But authorities still consider the investigation active.

ORLANDO -- The FBI is now on the case of missing Jennifer Kesse.

The Orlando Police Department called off its own investigation into Kesse’s 2006 disappearance in April, but now Kesse's family has renewed hope.

This is something the family has been asking for more than a year.

So, they are ecstatic to now have federal agents trying to solve the case.

Chief Val Demings requested the FBI take over the missing woman case.

Kesse disappeared Jan 24, 2006 from her apartment near the Mall at Millenia.

FBI field agents in Orlando have already begun to collect the evidence in the case.

But for the Kesse family, this means so much more.
   
Since her disappearance, Kesse’s parents Drew and Joyce have vowed not to give up on the search for their daughter.

"We know that time is obviously not on her side,” Drew Kesse said. “However, we need her to come home one way or the other and her story to end. Her misery whatever it is be to end. Whether it ended years ago or if it's still continuing, no one deserves this."

There will be several meetings during this process between Orlando detectives and FBI investigators.

The FBI said it will look at what's been done so far in the investigation, analyze the information and see if they can generate new leads.

No one has ever been named a suspect in the case.

It's believed Kesse was abducted.

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - New photos have surfaced inside Jennifer Kesse's car; pictures that have never been seen by her father, until now.

"I believe I would have liked to have seen how the car was actually found," said Drew Kesse. "I did not have the opportunity."

Drew Kesse said the pictures of Jennifer's black Chevy Malibu popped up on the JenniferKesse.com website a couple of days ago. One picture is of the car's console and another one shows a DVD player strapped in the back seat.

Her parents say the DVD was given to her by her boyfriend, but they don't know why it is strapped in the back seat.

"I was very taken back," said Drew. "Here we have some important pictures of the car. I didn't know they were out there. The Kesses said they have learned that the pictures were aired on a national news program years ago. They want to know who took them and who released them.
We asked the Orlando Police Department if the pictures were taken by investigators and released to one news outlet. We were told in a written statement, "You will need to contact the FBI related to anything in the case. The FBI is now the investigative entity as it relates to the case. The case is an active case with the FBI."

Other pictures on the site show the inside of Jennifer's apartment. They show the bag Jennifer which took with her on vacation the week before she vanished. Her parents said they remember news outlets taking these pictures. These, they said, were not taken by investigators.

The case is being looked at by the FBI. We are told the investigator on the case is out of the office for a few weeks. The family is asking that they look into what these pictures may or may no show.

“I have a personal affinity for Florida cases. We get a huge amount of weirdos,” Walsh told me today. “The Sunshine State is where the creeps come to spend the winter. Florida has a huge transient population.”

“America’s Most Wanted” starts a new season at 9 p.m. Saturday on WOFL-Ch. 35. The premiere showcases a most wanted terrorist who grew up in Florida.

Walsh said he wanted to return to the case of Jennifer Kesse, the Orlando woman who disappeared four years ago. ”America’s Most Wanted” has looked Kesse’s story three times, Walsh said.

“I’m looking for something new that I can crank that case up again,” Walsh said. “Somebody grabbed her. He may still be in Orlando. It’s disturbing. We will try to revist the case before Christmas.”

What’s Walsh’s reaction to the Casey Anthony case? “It’s such a sore on Florida,” he said. “It’s just a nightmare.”

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

“It’s like a horrible reality show,”  Walsh said. “Florida taxpayers say, ‘Put this woman on trial and move on.’ It’s just tragically sad. They should have had the trial six months ago.”

Facebook is filled with pleas for help in finding missing children

t used to be that if a child went missing, his or her image would be posted on telephone poles, neighborhood gathering places and parking lots.

But now, people are using Facebook — the social-networking website that connects millions through photos and commentary — as a tool in the search for their missing loved ones.

"One of six children is located because someone recognizes them in a photograph," said John Shehan of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in Virginia. "But with more than 500 million active users on Facebook, that statistic is greatly enhanced when someone creates a page for a missing child."

Tara Yunker disappeared from her New Smyrna Beach home Sept. 3, and Melbourne police found her days later after friends launched a Facebook page for the 16-year-old.

Nadia Bloom, the 11-year-old who disappeared into an alligator-infested area of Winter Springs in April, also was recovered a few days after her family created a Facebook page for the little girl.

Friends of 16-year-old Kristen Brown set up a Facebook page for the missing Groveland girl Sept. 17. It contains pictures of the teen, as well as her description and tips on her whereabouts. Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies said she went missing Sept. 6 and has not been found.

"We look at that information here at the center, but we also know that law-enforcement gleans what they can from those pages for their investigations," Shehan said. "If parents are managing the Facebook site, it also gives them comfort that they are actively involved."
Lt. Bob Kelley of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Facebook is "something we use in our missing-children cases, as well as cybercrimes." The Sheriff's Office handled the Yunker case. "It certainly gives missing cases much more exposure."

The NCMEC has taken 3,464 active cases of missing children since Jan. 1, 1990. Social-service agencies in Florida have reported 384 cases to the organization, and 26 of those — about 6 percent — are from Metro Orlando.

Officials at Facebook did not return calls from the Orlando Sentinel for this story, so it is unclear how many pages for missing or exploited children are on the site; however, a search for "missing children" shows thousands of hits.

One of the first Facebook pages created for a missing person was in 2007 for Orlando's Jennifer Kesse. She disappeared from her condo near the Mall at Millenia in January 2006 when she was 24.

The case garnered national media attention, and nearly 3,000 Facebook users identify themselves as friends of the "Help Find Missing Jennifer Kesse" page, which contains several pictures and a description of her.

"It absolutely helps," said Drew Kesse, her father. "If we can get another eye to look at that website, then it means another person now knows her face and can help in the search. It's total awareness that reaches a network of millions of people."

The family of Haleigh Cummings, the missing 5-year-old Satsuma girl, also created a Facebook page for the child in 2009. Haleigh has not been found, and Putnam County Sheriff's Office investigators think the child is dead.

Jessica Russell, who posts comments on the "Help Find Haleigh Cummings" Facebook page, said she has added pictures of the missing girl to her own page and her friends have done the same with the hope of finding the child.

"It think that when you have something that is so good at connecting friends who have not seen each other or family who are separated by thousands of miles, why not use it to find missing children?" Russell said.

Gun Found In Lake May Be Linked To Murder Case

ORLANDO, Fla. -- There was a bizarre murder mystery at an Orange County lake Tuesday. Investigators recovered a gun from Lake Underhill (see map), but they won't say how it got there, who tipped them off or whose murder they're investigating.

Investigators started to wrap things up late Tuesday afternoon, but they gave no answers to the many questions WFTV asked.

"I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised at all, because they don't patrol the area at night, point blank," Orlando resident James Hoyle said.

Those who watched the search from the shore of Lake Underhill said it's not a surprise that divers found a gun left submerged in lake water, even as it was marked as evidence. Investigators won't talk about what case the weapon might be involved with, but the search continued all day, even after the gun was found.

James Hoyle says there is plenty of activity in the area whenever the sun goes down.
There's no cops patrolling the area to run the activity off that's being performed here at night," he said.

The East-West Expressway runs right over the lake. The road, boat ramp, docks and shoreline are throwing distance from the area divers were searching. A source close to the investigation told WFTV Tuesday the search is part of a homicide investigation.

There are several unsolved murders locally and missing persons cases like Jennifer Kesse and Tracy Ocasio, but no one would say what homicide investigation the search was for. In any case, it's one more reason James Hoyle doesn't frequent Lake Underhill Park.

"We used to bring the kids over here at night. Now we can't," he said. "It's not safe."

WFTV also spoke to joggers who frequent the area who said they're frightened by the latest discovery. Lake Underhill Park, which lies along the south banks of the lake, is a popular spot for walkers and joggers because it has nearly a mile of trail with exercise stations.

The park, which doesn't close until 11:00pm, was renovated in 2000 to add more lighting.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The FBI conducted lie detector tests on the father and brother of missing woman, Jennifer Kesse. It's been nearly five years since she disappeared.

WFTV talked to Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse, about the test and whether the FBI thinks Orange County's biggest missing person's case, extends beyond Florida.

Drew thinks there's a 50/50 chance Jennifer was trafficked and is in another country. As for the lie detector test, he said it's crazy.

FBI agents have been going through more than 1,100 tips in the case of Jennifer Kesse. The agency has played a support role since June when the Orlando Police Department asked it to step in.

Jennifer's dad has a feeling he knows why the FBI came on board.

"Maybe we do have to look at the possibility that she was taken and trafficked," Drew said.

Jennifer disappeared on January 24, 2006, from the Mosaic at Millenia apartment complex in Orlando.

"I say, yes, she's out of this country. I truly believe that," he said. "It's not for her car because her car was dropped with valuables. It wasn't for the valuables in the car. She wasn't there. So it was for her."

Jennifer's family members recently became the focus of the investigation. Wednesday, FBI agents hooked up Jennifer's father and brother to a polygraph machine.

"I think it's kind of crazy actually," Drew said.
"They're going to start from scratch and work their way through the case again," polygraph expert Denny Connors said.

"They don't realize the psychological things that happen," Drew said. "It's like what are you trying to get from us. Are you honestly, where's this going?"

WFTV asked an Orlando police spokeswoman why investigators never conducted polygraph tests on family members in 2006. But she wouldn't comment and neither would the FBI.

Drew Kesse said he knows the FBI doesn't suspect he or his family members played a role in Jennifer's disappearance.

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The family of a local woman who has been missing for nearly five years says it isn’t happy that the FBI is asking for polygraph tests.

Jennifer Kesse disappeared from her apartment near the Mall of Millenia in January 2006.

The FBI started investigating the case in June 2010 at the request of the Orlando Police Department.

Kesse’s father, Drew Kesse, said he does not feel like he is being placed under a cloud of suspicion in any way, but he does feel that the Orlando Police Department mishandled the investigation.

Kesse said the polygraph tests were a waste of taxpayer money. He feels the tests should have been done within days of his daughter’s disappearance.

“I don't see why it's necessary, but unfortunately it’s necessary because of the things that were not done properly at the beginning of this investigation,” he said.

Kesse said he is glad the FBI is involved, but fears Orlando police did not give investigators much to work with.
She has vanished and at this point it doesn't look like she will pop up from a law enforcement investigator," Kesse said.

He believes his daughter was abducted by people who deal in human trafficking. Kesse claims Orlando police did not take her disappearance as seriously as they should have at first because she was an adult.

Orlando police on Friday referred questions to the FBI. The FBI said it was just assisting and the case is still the Orlando Police Department’s.

Jennifer Kesse was last seen alive on Jan. 23, 2006, in Orlando, Fla. No one has seen or heard from her since, and no suspects have been identified in her disappearance.

Known by friends and family simply as "Jenn," the 24-year-old Orlando woman was last seen alive on Jan. 23, 2006. Kesse, who lived alone, was reported missing by her parents the next day when she failed to show up for her job as a manager at Central Florida Investments.
Kesse’s car – a black Chevy Malibu – was found by authorities on Jan. 26 approximately one mile from her condominium. The Orlando Police Department had hoped for a break in the case when it released security footage of a person seen parking Kesse’s vehicle near a pool at an apartment complex and walking away. But the suspect – who appears to be between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-5 – has never been identified.

In a recent interview with FoxNews.com, Drew Kesse, Jennifer's father, said he believes more than one person is responsible for his daughter’s disappearance. His theory is that Jenn was abducted while leaving her residence early on Jan. 24, and that she never made it to her car.

No forensic evidence was obtained from her vehicle – only one “latent print,” which her father called “too minuscule” to be useful. The last known police search for Kesse -- who is 5-foot-8 with blond hair -- was conducted in February, when investigators scoured an overgrown field, yielding no clues in the case.

Kesse suggested his daughter may have been taken by human traffickers and may no longer be in the country. “I think that someone wanted a prize,” he told FoxNews.com. “Over 1,300 leads now and every single one of them is a dead end.”

“She had no enemies,” Kesse said of his daughter, a 2003 graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando and an Alpha Delta Pi sorority member he described as driven and outgoing.

“We don’t own a picture without her smiling,” he said.
Robert Krentz

Robert N. Krentz Jr., a prominent rancher whose family has been ranching in southern Arizona since 1907, was shot to death on March 27, 2010. Investigators say the 58-year-old Krentz was found dead inside his all-terrain vehicle on his 35,000-acre Cochise County ranch with multiple gunshot wounds. Krentz’s dog, Blue, was found critically injured in the back of the ATV.

Authorities say Krentz's body was found several hours after he radioed his brother, Phil, saying he was setting out to help someone on the ranch who he believed was an illegal immigrant.

"He was a good and kind and gentle person," Krentz’s wife, Sue, said in an interview. "Somebody chose to invade our lives and create a crime that was unjustified. It’s torn a big whole in our family.”

Krentz spoke to his brother sometime between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on March 27, according to police. Phil Krentz said he was able to make out the words “illegal alien” and “hurt” during that exchange. The brothers had planned to meet at  noon, but Robert Krentz never showed up. At approximately 6:20 p.m., family members reported him missing.

Investigators were able to trace Krentz’s vehicle back about 1,000 feet to where they claim the incident began. Detectives say they believe Krentz and his dog were shot inside their vehicle after coming upon his assailant. They say the rancher then drove off at a high speed before falling unconscious.

Sherriff’s deputies and the U.S. Border Patrol identified a single pair of foot tracks that led them approximately 20 miles south of the U.S. border with Mexico.
The find prompted authorities as well as Krentz’s family to say they believed he encountered a drug smuggler returning to Mexico. To date, no suspect has been named.

In a recent interview with FoxNews.com, investigative sources declined to comment on any possible advances in the case, saying only that "interesting leads have been developing" and that authorities remain committed to catching the killer.

Sue Krentz said it was not unusual for her and her husband to help the illegal immigrants they encountered on their vast stretch of land bordering Mexico.

“We’ve had lots of illegals on our property before so we were never afraid of them and never assumed that they would hurt us,” she said. “I’m just hoping someone would have a conscience and just admit it or turn themselves in.”

“It’s the first time in 33 years that he won’t be here for Christmas,” Krentz said.

The 18-year-old high school graduate from Mountain Brook, Ala., disappeared in May 2005 while on a school trip to Aruba. The honor student’s body has never been found.

Joran van der Sloot, a 22-year-old Dutch playboy and the lead suspect in Holloway’s disappearance, is currently being held in Peru -- charged with murdering a 22-year-old Peruvian woman in May 2010.

According to friends’ accounts, Hollway was last seen leaving Carlos'n Charlie's -- a popular hangout in Oranjestad -- at around 1:30 a.m. on May 30 in a car with Van Der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. Holloway failed to show up for her return flight to Alabama later that day.

An unprecedented search of the island – including help from the FBI, the Dutch Army and F-16 aircraft -- yielded no sign of the 5-foot-4 blonde, who had plans to attend the University of Alabama on full scholarship.

Van Der Sloot’s version of events surrounding Holloway’s disappearance has changed several times. He first told authorities that he and the Kalpoe brothers drove Holloway to a lighthouse before dropping her off at the Holiday Inn, where Van Der Sloot said she stumbled as she left the car and was approached by a dark-skinned man. He later modified his story, saying he left Holloway alone on a beach. In 2008, in an interview with Fox News, Van Der Sloot confessed to selling Holloway into sex slavery (an admission he later retracted). The Dutch national also claimed he was under the influence of marijuana when a hidden camera captured him telling a
friend that Holloway died after she had a seizure.

Van Der Sloot was arrested twice on suspicion of involvement in the case and then released by Aruban authorities. On June 3, 2010, he was indicted by a federal grand jury in the U.S. for wire fraud and extortion related to Holloway's disappearance. He allegedly demanded $250,000 from Holloway's mother, Beth Twitty, in exchange for information on the whereabouts of her daughter's remains.

Van Der Sloot was arrested that same day by Peruvian authorities for allegedly beating Stephany Flores Ramirez to death in a hotel room in Lima hotel on May 30 -- the fifth year anniversary of Holloway's disappearance.

Twitty reportedly confronted Van Der Sloot after sneaking into Castro Castro Prison last month. "I want to know what happened and I want to move on, Joran," Twitty is seen telling him on tape. "I want to move on in my life and I can't close the book."

Investigators hoped that a human jawbone found on an Aruban beach last month would provide a break in the case, but Aruban authorities determined that the remains were not Holloway's.

David Hartley, 30, of Milliken, Colo., was shot and killed Sept. 30, 2010, while jet-skiing with his wife on Lake Falcon, a 25-mile-long lake along the U.S.-Mexico border that is notorious for drug smuggling.

Tiffany Hartley says her husband was shot in the back of the head while the couple was dodging bullets from three speedboats containing Mexican drug cartel members. She said they encountered the killers when they set out set on their jet skis to photograph a half-submerged church on the Mexican side of the lake. The 29-year-old said she was forced to leave her husband lying face down in the water because she was unable to pull him onto her watercraft.

Authorities found blood on Tiffany Hartley’s life vest, but her husband's body was never recovered. A police source speaking on condition of anonymity said confidential informants indicated that the body and jet ski were destroyed and will never be found.

A Mexican state police commander investigating the shooting was found decapitated in October – his severed head delivered in a suitcase to the Mexican military.

After pressure from U.S. officials, Mexican authorities in October identified two men as suspects in Hartley's murder -- Juan Pedro Saldivar Farias and his brother, Jose Manuel, both from New Guerrero, Mexico, and members of the Zeta drug cartel .
In an interview with FoxNews.com, Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez said he recently received information identifying two additional suspects in the murder. Gonzalez said the men, Zeta drug cartel members whom he did not identify, indicated that they disposed of Hartley’s body and his jet ski.

Gonzalez said he also has information that the shooters were ordered to kill Tiffany Hartley, and he said he believes at least six drug cartel members – and possibly eight – were on the lake when the shooting occurred.

"Information has been revealed that [they] authorized her killing as well, but she was able to escape,” Gonzalez said. “They were targeted because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Gonzalez expressed frustration with Mexican law enforcement, saying sometimes “they just won’t call back,” but said he’s optimistic the killers will be apprehended.

“Eventually something’s going to happen,” he said, “Information is constantly flowing.”

The largest missing person search in Oregon's history was launched for Kyron Horman, an 8-year-old Portland-area boy who disappeared June 4, 2010.
The child’s stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, told police she last saw the boy walking down the hallway of Skyline Elementary School on his way to class after having attended a science fair. School officials said the second-grader never made it to class.

No person has been charged or made a person of interest in Kyron’s disappearance, Lt. Mary Lindstrand of the Multnomah County Sheriff told FoxNews.com.

Terri Horman, 40, said she accompanied her stepson to school early June 4 in her white pickup truck. She said the two previewed the school's science fair exhibits -- along with other parents and children -- before Kyron's first class was to begin. Terri then reportedly posted a picture on Facebook of the smiling boy standing in front of his tree frog exhibit.

She called 911 at approximately 3:45 p.m. after Kyron, who was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with the letters "CSI," failed to return home on his school bus.

Hundreds of Oregon law enforcement officials -- with help from the FBI and the Portland Police Bureau's air unit -- searched for the boy.

Questions arose over the truthfulness of Terri Hormon's account after she was asked by authorities to take a polygraph test twice. Her cell phone records also didn't match where she said she was on the day Kyron disappeared. The child's biological mother, Desiree Horman, later called on her to "fully corporate with the investigators" to bring Kyron home.
Kaine Horman, the child's father, filed for a divorce against Terri, stating in court documents that it was common for his wife to be impaired by alcohol "several nights a week." Police also told Kaine Horman that about six months before Kyron disappeared, Terri Horman allegedly hired a landscaper to kill her husband.

But Lindstrand told FoxNews.com that Terri Horman was "never in custody" and investigators are still pursuing all leads in the case. Searchers combed an island about 15 miles outside of Portland in October looking for any signs of Kyron.

"We’re still very hopeful that there will be closure on this case," Lindstrand said.

Drew Kesse, Jennifer's father, took college courses dealing with missing person cases, and said many officers on the streets do not have the proper training.

"People don't know what to do, especially officers," he said. "Our first officer says she probably had a fight with her boyfriend, shrugged his shoulders and walked out. So we do need training. We have to know what to do each step of the way."

Drew Kesse said he hopes this new scholarship will help students interested in criminal justice get the education needed.

The Kesse family, along with the University of Central Florida Foundation and the College of Health and Public Affairs' Department of Criminal Justice, created the endowed scholarship program to honor both Jennifer and the university she loves.

The scholarship takes $30,000 to fund, and the Kesse family said it has fundraisers planned throughout the next six years to help fund it.
The first Jennifer Kesse Criminal Justice Endowed Scholarship, for $1,000, will be awarded during the Fall 2011 semester.

Jennifer's disappearance was covered last night on Nancy Grace's new show MISSING. Her parents were there and just about the whole hour was devoted to her. He father stated that the police in Orlando do not take any tips on her anymore and tipsters are referred to the FBI. Jennifer Kesse's family will be at UCF Friday to announce a new scholarship to honor her.
It's been nearly five years since the young woman disappeared from her Orlando condo, but her parents still hold onto hope that she'll be found.

Jennifer's dad, Drew Kesse, says OPD and the FBI both tell him the same thing about her case.

"That Jennnifer has vanished, there are no clues to where she is, and, in fact, the FBI asked us to please not send any more clues or leads in," said Kesse. "If you call OPD, they will tell you to call the FBI. If you call FBI, they will tell you they are just reviewing the case, call OPD."

But the Kesses aren't giving up.

"If police go away, everyone goes away, she still has her family looking for her, and we'll never stop," said Drew. "Truly, it's my responsibility as her father to find her."

In an effort to help police learn more about disappearance cases, the Kesses are setting up a scholarship for a UCF graduate student in criminal justice. The $1,000 annual award will go to a Florida resident who writes an essay on enhancing the state's missing person's act which is named for Jennifer and Tiffany Sessions.

ORLANDO - Jennifer Kesse's parents aren't giving up their search. But they're accusing the Orlando Police Department and the FBI of doing just that.

Kesse grew up here in the Bay Area. She was 24 when she vanished from her Orlando apartment four years ago.

The Kesses say detectives have stopped accepting tips on the case.
"We were basically told right to my face, in an interview so they must have it on tape, that Jennifer has vanished that they have not a clue where she is and that they don't want any more leads," Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse, said.

Drew Kesse says he doesn't blame the FBI for his daughter's case going unsolved. But, without going into details, he says Orlando police made critical mistakes in the first critical hours after her disappearance.

"They didn't do what was needed the first three days. And if you don't do it in the beginning, you don't get it back," he said.

Orlando police referred a WOFL-TV reporter to the FBI, who said they could not comment on the OPD's handling of the case. They did say any leads they get are being sent to OPD.

NEW YORK (CBS) The family of Jennifer Kesse, who mysteriously disappeared from her Orlando home nearly five years ago, announced a University of Central Florida scholarship in her honor Friday.

Drew Kesse, Jennifer's father, along with his wife, Joyce, have been tireless advocates for their daughter's case since her disappearance January 24, 2006. Drew spoke with Crimesider Friday and said that The Jennifer Kesse Scholarship will award $1,000 each year to a Florida resident who's a UCF graduate student in criminal justice.

Entrants must have a 3.0 grade point average or better and write a 500-word essay regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the Jennifer Kesse and Tiffany Sessions Missing Persons Act, a law the Kesses helped pass in 2008. It expanded the state's missing child alert system to include anyone up to age 26, and requires that after 90 days, a missing person's DNA be entered into local state and national data bases.

Jennifer, 24, apparently vanished from her Orlando home on January 24, 2006. Her friends became worried when she did not show up at work the next day, and when they didn't get a response, they called her parents.
Her car was recovered days later, just a mile from her home. Surveillance cameras snapped pictures of someone parking Jennifer's car and walking away from it, but the face of the person in the photos is obscured, and he or she has never been identified

Despite numerous searches, and years of work, police have made no arrests in the case. And nearly five years after her disappearance, Drew said, both Florida authorities and the FBI have "given up."

"Our criminal justice system really needs help," he stressed.

Drew hopes Jennifer's scholarship will keep his daughter's life, and story, in the forefront of the public's mind, while challenging those preparing for a career in the criminal justice system.

When asked if he has given up hope, Drew answered, "Not at all. We will continue to search for our daughter."

The Jennifer Kesse Criminal Justice Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to its first recipient in the fall 2011 semester.

There was a program (probably a rerun) about Jenn last night on 48 hours:Hard Evidence.  Did anyone else see it.  The last 10 minutes or so went blank on my tv and I didn't get to see how it ended.  LE has just revealed to the public about a glove being found with DNA and a fingerprint inside.  It was tested against the more than 100 DNA samples they have on the case plus CODIS.

Ga. man appeals conviction in serial killer hoax

ATLANTA (AP) — Andrew Scott Haley used the online moniker "catchmekiller" to post a video claiming he killed 16 people, a callous lie that led investigators down dead-end trails and wasted countess hours of detective work, prosecutors said Monday.

Haley admits what he did was wrong, but believes his free speech rights were trampled during his elaborate attempt to get viewers involved in solving a mystery. He asked the Georgia Supreme Court on Monday to overturn his conviction.

Haley was convicted of tampering with evidence and making false statements after he posted the video on YouTube in February 2009. Once authorities tracked him down, they quickly determined he had nothing to do with the killings.

The video, which obscured his face and voice, purported to offer clues to where bodies were located and urged viewers to help him solve the crime. He promised to reveal his true identify if they played along, but warned "Don't try to chase me."

The FBI, has completed their review of Jennifer’s case. The findings of that review we are not privy to unfortunately as Jennifer’s case remains open and active. It has been returned to the City of Orlando’s Police Homicide department and assigned to a new set of investigators there. This will be the 7th investigative team to work on her case and it is our hope to be the last. Unfortunately after meeting with the FBI we were told that Jennifer has Vanished, they have no clue of where she is or who has taken her and are no closer in finding her since the day she was taken. We have heard that statement many times over the past 5 years however it has no affect or effect on the task at hand of finding Jennifer and our unwavering determination to do so, no matter how long it takes or how far we must go to find her. She will be found and brought home where she belongs. This family will never give up on Jennifer and our unconditional love for her is as strong as ever.

We continue to be vocal proactive advocates for those who cannot speak for themselves, The Missing, Exploited, Abducted, Trafficked and Unidentified Humans of our state, nation and world. In continuing to do so, we have been asked by the Florida’s Governor, Attorney General and Director of Victim Services to be Keynote speakers in Ceremony at the State Capitol, April 13th in recognition of National Victims Rights Week. Drew Kesse restarted his radio show, "Evolution of a Revolution" on Phoenix Network.

The show debuted in October of 2010. This is the continuation of the radio show he started in October 2010 on the Phoenix Network.

Kesse said he hopes to use his radio show to help the thousands of other families with missing loved ones.

Court upholds conviction in ‘catchmekiller' hoax case

The Georgia Supreme Court on Friday upheld one conviction but threw out another in a case involving a Gainesville man who used the moniker "catchmekiller" in YouTube videos and falsely claimed to have killed 16 people.

Haley also claimed to have information about an Orlando woman, Jennifer Kesse, who disappeared in 2006. Her father found out about it and contacted law enforcement.

Haley indicated he knew where the bodies were located and promised his online viewers he'd leave them clues if they followed along. He also promised to eventually disclose his identity, but warned, "Don't try to chase me. ... Don't try to catch me."

After issuing subpoenas to Google and YouTube, authorities eventually tracked down Haley's identity through his Internet Protocol address. When confronted, he acknowledged carrying out the hoax and was arrested.

Despite enormous media attention and untold man hours of work by Orlando and federal law enforcement agencies, Jennifer Kesse is still missing and the case is unsolved. Her parents, Drew and Joyce Kesse, began a nationwide effort to reduce the amount of incidences such as this. The Kesses identified the early sampling of DNA as being of paramount importance in these types of cases. They were assisted in their struggle by John Walsh, a renowned advocate in these matters.

I cannot believe that I haven't followed her case.  I live so close and I feel so bad now.  I have a question.  So I don't have to go back through everything...can anyone tell me which direction the person of interest left the Huntington Condos/Apts?  I would like to make a list of all of the places of business within walking distance and see if the uniforms match what this guy was wearing.  He seems to be dressed in a uniform.  It would be easier if I know what direction he went in.  I may be able to figure it out but thought maybe someone recalls that.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much.  You probably already know this...but if you pull up a view of Downing St. Orlando, FL you will see the condos and it looks like that video was taken by the pool gate...not sure but it looks possible (unless someone else already knows).  So, it gives numerous businesses in that area...so, I have been looking up that business and finding images to compare them to.  The mall isn't far either...and possibly he took a cab...but, I think there is a reason that he parked it there and walked.

As a matter of fact...I will drive over to Orlando on Sunday and check the area out for myself.  I should have already done that.  I think that many believe that it is Hataway in that video.  I read somewhere that he has a history of working in grocery stores and Starbucks...along with dragging ponds (Here is where I found that):

The video shows Jennifer Kesse's black Chevy Malibu driving into the Huntington on the Green condos around noon on the very day the 24-year-old failed to show up to work. The driver meticulously parks the car, even adjusting his parking before leaving the car. He walks all the way around the pool and then he was captured on surveillance snapshots from a different camera.

Friday's search is being conducted by more than 70 officers from the Orlando Police Department and from the Orange and Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said they have been waiting to search the  wooded area for about six months, but there was too much water covering the ground.

Kesse was 25 years old when she disappeared from her Mosaic Millenia condo in Orlando.  Police later found her car at an apartment complex a mile from her home.

In 2007, Orlando police released video showing someone dropping off Kesse's car in a parking lot at a condo complex about a mile from where she disappeared. It's the same person caught on surveillance camera walking away from the apartments.

There have never been any arrests made in the case.

I pray something is found.  Her family needs some closure.

"People need to know she's still missing," Drew Kesse said.

Dozens of law-enforcement vehicles lined South International Drive, but not much of the actual search was visible from the ground, as the search occurred deep in the dense woods.

Deputies from Orange and Osceola aided in the search. Mounted units from multiple agencies were used, as were ATVs and K-9s.

This morning, dozens of officers, many carrying metal rakes, searched the woods on the east side of the six-lane road. A police command post was set up in the parking lot of the Partners! Federal Credit Union.

There was no public indication that officers found evidence of significance.

Last February, Orlando police reported that the FBI ended its involvement in the Jennifer Kesse case. The FBI got involved in June 2010, after Orlando police had exhausted nearly every viable lead, according to the FBI.

At that point, Orlando police still had one detective assigned full time to the case.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

An investigator said a new lead prompted the search, which took place in a wooded area near 13000 S. International Drive, north of World Center Drive.

Orlando police launched a new search for Jennifer Kesse Friday, nearly six years after her disappearance.

About 175 people from various law enforcement agencies searched in the area of 13000 S. International Drive, near the Little Lake Bryan community.

They came with machetes in hand, and boots ready for watery conditions.

It was the first full scale search effort for some time for Kesse, and the largest the missing woman’s family had ever seen.

“It's more than what's been done in the 5 years 11 months and two weeks since Jennifer was taken from us,” said Drew Kesse, Jennifer’s father.

Searchers were only able to get in Friday after getting permission from land owners and waiting for water levels to come down enough to make the woods passable.

The family said some bones were found, but they appear to be animal bones. They will be tested at a lab just to make sure.

The Kesses said they've watched recent searches for Michelle Parker anxiously, as they are sure other families are.

“Michelle Parker could be in there, Tracy Ocasio, Trenton Duckett could be in there,” Drew Kesse said. “When we see searches going on for other folks, dogs don't discriminate.”

They said their case could be the hardest though, as they have no person of interest, making empty searches hurt that much more.

“Our job is to make sure people continue to remember that she was stolen,” said Joyce Kesse, Jennifer’s mother. “She remains missing. That's our goal.”

The Kesses said police have now investigated more than 1,400 leads.

As hard as it is to hope for a body, rather than their daughter's safe return, the Kesses were hoping to begin the healing process.

The conference comes less than two weeks after more than 100 investigators searched an area off South International Drive.

According to Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse, that search was related to a tip he received five months earlier, but the search area was under water, and detectives had to wait for it to dry out.

Drew Kesse said it has been hard watching another families of missing women go through similar searchers for Michelle Parker, who disappeared in November, and Tracy Ocasio, who has not been seen since 2009.

Like Ocasio's mother, Drew Kesse said he now wonders if there is a serial killer on the loose in Orange County.

"We have seen it happen to more families here in Central Florida, and it's not going to stop, folks, until the community finally says, 'That's it,'" he said.

The closest police have come to a suspect in Kesse's disappearance are a shadowy figure in surveillance images from 2006 at her apartment complex, and another complex nearby, where Kesse's car was found days later.

But to this day, the identity of that shadowy figure remains a mystery.

According to Kesse's parents, investigators have followed up on more than 1,400 leads in their daughter's disappearance.

I wish I knew texasmom- I can tell you I interviewed "Adam" multiple times, and he was extremely open and forth coming, it was my decision to withhold his name after everything he told me checked out 100%.

It is my sincere hope this work progresses this case, but it has been my experience on occasion when LE has made mistakes early on in a case, they languish rather than admit it and forge ahead.  This mindset MUST change because it impedes solid investigation.

The 19-member panel is comprised of investigators who have worked the Kesse case and investigators who have not previously worked the case, including medical examiner Dr. Jan Garravaglia and Crimeline's Barbara Bergin.

At a Wednesday morning press conference, officers said a special multi agency team will put fresh eyes on the Kesse case.

Orlando's police chief promised an intense look at the case.

The Kesse family said they hope the team will unlock the secret to Kesse's disappearance.

Where’s Casey? Some of us just don’t care. The focus on Anthony takes away attention from people who desperately need to be found.

We had a stunning reminder today in Orlando, when a new push was announced to find Jennifer Kesse, who vanished six years ago. A task force of 19 experts, including Chief Medical Examiner Jan Garavaglia, has been assembled to study the case.

Jennifer’s self-deprecating mother, Joyce, was a profile in courage and tenacity. At a news conference, Joyce said, “We know that she is not the only missing person. We just might happen to be the family with the biggest mouth. … We’re not going away until we have a resolution.”

Orlando Police Chief Paul Rooney said he knew the Kesse family had been living a nightmare all the time Jennifer has been gone.

Michelle Parker, the mother of twins, remains missing. She disappeared in November shortly after her appearance on ”The People’s Court” aired nationwide.  Her family has kept the attention on Michelle through frequent TV appearances. Michelle, too, is blessed with a family with a big mouth.

Finding Kesse and Parker will do some good.

Yes, I've heard him on Dana's show before.  It would have been great to hear him again tonight.  I hold him in such high esteem for his  tireless efforts to find his daughter. 

Sadly the original Orlando investigators on the Jennifer Kesse case sound like Aruba LE.

It just seems to me that the fact that there is most likely someone else involved who drove her car and parked it and walked
away tells me that more then one male is involved.

In light of Blinks investigation of this Campo guy being what seems to be obsessed with Jennifer, leads me to think that perhaps it's a sex trafficking type of crime.  If someone wanted to rape/murder her, they would have done so at her condo I would think, not as Blink pointed out on her blog - out in the open.

 If I remember correctly some time ago when the case was first brought to light I think that there were some other men in the country illegally and lived or worked close to Jennifer.

It may be just me, but the way the guy in the video surveillance tape is dressed seems like a clue as to who he is and where he works or hangs out. Khaki pants with white t-shirt and black leather looking shoe.  I mean it doesn't look like a construction worker. 

 It's just crazy the two original detectives on the case kept no notes on the case.   ::MonkeyNoNo::

If you read here - would you expound a bit (if you can) about the men who were in the country illegally?
I can't find my notes, but I recall searching on maps of the area at one time and looking into a pizza place nearby that they may have been employed at.

There is a local station in SoCal, it's on KNX , news radio station (A.M.) 1070 and the main guy on it sounds a lot like Dana to me.  Dana has such a great voice and is such a good interviewer. 

Drew, Joyce and Logan went through the largest search effort to date in Jenn's case, the death of Joyce's father- (Logan and Jennifer's beloved Grandfather) and significant developments in the search for their daughter - in one week.

To say it was a "rough one" is an understatement and I know you will all will join me as you have previously, in your thoughts and prayers for them. 

That said, I feel traction in this case for the first time in 6 years.

I felt optimistic at Chief Rooney's words today- and I DO NOT endorse lightly in a case that has had it's share of hiccups.

Thank you for the support of this case, and stay the course.

Is it possible this suspect is a woman, disguised as a man?  suspect has a long neck, small through the rounded shoulders and above the waist.

When Jennifer Kesse vanished from her Orlando condominium nearly six years ago, her mother vowed not to rest until the mystery was solved and justice was done.

Joyce Kesse spearheaded the drive to raise reward money that at one point topped $1 million. She lobbied legislators and helped create a state law establishing standards for entering information about missing people into crime and other databases.

For years, she drove a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer she called "the Jen mobile." The vehicle was covered with photos of Jennifer Kesse and a phone number to call in tips.

"I'm not going to have my daughter in a shallow grave or in water somewhere for the rest of my life. That's just not in the cards," Joyce Kesse told The Tampa Tribune in 2008.

Six years later, Jennifer Kesse's disappearance remains unsolved, but her mother hasn't given up. Neither are police, who on Wednesday announced that a panel of law enforcement and crime experts has been created to review evidence in the case.

I have always, always, always thought this person is wearing a martial arts uniform, complete with kung-fu shoes. If I was ever in Orlando I would drive around and see if there is one within walking distance of where her car was found. This has bugged the heck out of me ever since I first saw these photos. I also lean towards it being a female.

Thanks for your response sdb.  Because I was only familiar with tae-kwondo uniforms and they practice their art in bare feet, I googled kung-fu uniforms and shoes.  Among them I saw kung-fu t shirts.  They were white with black print on the front and I notice black shoes are worn.  You could be right in your premise.

I went thru hundreds of google images long time ago. The pic just hit me as a martial arts uniform. Especially the first surveillance picture. The armhole was so weird, but if you look how the uniforms are cut, it made sense to me. I'll try to find the pictures, I kept them somewhere.

Oh, I'm sorry.  I read it and thought definitely a possibility...I didn't post because I left to get supper ready.  If I recall correctly there was some sort of martial arts business around there...when I have time I will go back and look.  I only live about thirty minutes away and should have already been up there to check things out.  With three kids it is hard to dedicate time to that.

Hi Monkeys - in regard to the above photo

I was reading in Michelle Parker's thread and Trimm had posted a video taken at KFC some hours before she disappeared. Here is the link that Trimm posted

What struck me was the person working at the window with hair pulled up in a bun or in the hat and the profile of that person reminded me ot the photo above of the person who left Jennifer's car.  Is it possible that someone drove Jennifer's car to that area and left it and they were within walking distance of their job and just simply went on into work?  Could the person in the above photo work a window in a fast food place?  Are there any uniforms of fast food or restaurants nearby that possibly match what this person is wearing?  I also believe the car was left around 4 in the afternoon, could this time frame also match someone's work schedule?

It has been almost six years since 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse went missing from her condominium at Americana/Texas Avenue and today, FDLE and the Orlando Police Department announced they are assembling a day-long Specialized Multi Agency Review Team (SMART) to examine the evidence collected so far.

“The SMART will allow law enforcement to put fresh eyes on this investigation,” says FDLE Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Danny Banks. “We will never stop looking for answers and this cold case review allows numerous investigators to come together for the day putting an intensive focus on this investigation.”
