How fun!! Sanibel is gorgeous.  I will be in Greece however for my cousins wedding in January, so give me the dates and I will see if I will be in the country at the time...A1 is going to go with me..sneaking her in my luggage.  LOL 
Its my last chance to fly, I have gotten the "OK" from my doctor as I will not yet be in my 32nd week.  (Probably the last for a long time... :( )

My Dad is even worse about Ohio drivers.  LOL  He was backed into 3 times in one weekend...each of the drivers had Ohio plates.  Its a big joke now, whenever we all go some place together...he checks the plates around the parking spots and makes sure to avoid NY and OH plates..LOL

He had one of his boys come out of academy and training recently from Ohio.  He made him take the field driving test twice...LOL  (The second time was more of a joke)

Let me just add...he has no room to talk..he is originally from New Jersey where they "Park cars on curbs" (said in the best NJ accent I can muster)...from what I am told.  LOL

OMG - Monkey is soooo cute!!  How big is the other? male or female??

My kids want a lab or a Chihuahua ?  big difference!  I don't want a big dog though!

There is only one that will be on the bigger side.. The mother is about 5 pounds tops and the father is 2 pounds tops.. The lavender male will be rather large. he is spoken for, the brindle male will be a small guy,he is not much bigger then monkey and lucky,the long haired girl that is up in the air as of yet is tiny,I think she may be a bit smaller then monkey. none should be over 3 to 5 pounds except the lavender. I think moms pic is in the photobucket too, should give you an idea of her size and I dont think any but the lavender will even be her size,I think they will stay smaller like the daddy

hahaha nothing like going from 1 extreme to the other. It is the sly game, aim big even if you really want little,better chance of getting what you want.

They are not AKC but are 100% pure breed chihuahua... I am related to an show breeder of shelties and lowchens and she would never ever let me cross breed any dog.. and she scares me :)
I am about 45 minutes from Orlando in Polk County Fl. I have never shipped a pet so would not know how :)

Trouble should be around 4 to 5 pounds tops. Fatboy is the lavendar and he will be around 7 pounds from the looks of him now.. I guess with his rare color came rare size,he is bigger then his father already and they are only 7 weeks old.

EL, it's great to meet you too.  I hope you'll eventually be comfortable enough to share your opinions - the more, the better!!  It's even more fun when you're throwing out ideas, even if nobody agrees with you!  Sometimes you may just be the one person who helps someone see something a different way.   Jump in whenever you feel like it!!

I understand what your saying and mostly agree but think it is more paranoia and fear putting on a forum. I am involved in a situation that has alot of similarities to this case as far as Casey and how her family is however my grandbaby"is still very much alive"I still fear for his safety everyday  with this situation ...and i is hard to be articulate on the Caylee forum ..I have so many mixed feelings on this case...hope this makes sense??

Oh, wow.  I can see how that would make it difficult, for sure. I can't imagine having that fear daily.  It definitely makes sense.

I wanna see pics of your cakes Monken. I WISH I could bake...ugh. I can decorate, but can't bake desserts for anything!  I guess the decorating keeps me busy though. Our church did a Living Dickens Village type musical, and I designed the whole set...and spent 10 hours a day almost painting and gluing and stapling..it turned out gorgeous though. I am already filling a notebook full of sketches and designs for next year.LOL

I just came back from the hospital. My closest, like a sister, friend is dying or so they say. hOever she started talking when I visited her, but I couldn't understand what she said. The ysay she died yesterday and they brought her back. I am sure she has papers that say no; but I don't know if I should get "into it" with the family.

We have talked alot about death and the what after. There was a flash of light on Wed. in my home and I thought the rain leaks had arched something, put there was not pop or fire smell. I had just finished reading the book about Our Lady of Gadalupe. The next day I called my cousin in Indiana who is an electrician. He told me it had to something from the book. It may have been the time she went into the hospital.

I kept calling her and thought she had gone to be with relative in San Diego.

My other friend is in assisted living with Lou Gehrig's disease. She is 72; can't talk or move very much.

And my neighbor is threatening to commit suicide.

Monkey friends I just need to say this here so I can get it out of my system.
After my son passed away it has been hard on the Daughter in law and the the two children.We are very close. She finally got her a new house and is moving in today.We are so excited.The kids are fixing to put up their Christmas tree.
The youngest said"Now we just need to get ourselves a new Dad and it's perfect".
He is only 8 and doesn't remember as much as the oldest about their Dad.Their will never be a replacement as far as the 11 year old GrandDaughter is concerned.
I am mortified....trying to be positive,but am heartbroken.
It will be o.k.,it will be o.k. Well I don't feel any better,but at least I said it. That is a start.  ::MonkeyCool::

 A little of what my family has been through...
In my husbands family the children have lost parents young...2 cousins lost their dad at 12 and 14...My husband lost his mother at 24 and his sisters were 22, 12 and 7..Our kids (being it was their Grandma) were 5 and 3...We spend as much time with my youngest SIL as possible she is like one of our kids..And I think the younger kids actually have dealt with the loss better than the older one...

My DH refuses to mention the death of his mother as a matter of fact he wont even mention her..And I cant talk about her in front of him he gets SOOO upset...

But my SIL and I talk alot about her..I talk about her with my kids to...My son doesnt remeber much but my daughter does she was 5,my son 3...She did not like to have photos taken so there are not many memories of her,visually....

But I try to bring her up with my kids whenever I get the chance I want them to remember her.

I am sure with your DIL and you, you will be able to keep the wonderful memory of your son alive...
He might not remember everything but as  long as he has such an amazing grandma and mom to keep his dads memories alive he will grow up with wonderful memories of what his dad was like....

Hold your head up things will not just be ok they will be AMAZING!He probably doesnt really understand the effects of his words on others...As he gets older he will grow to appreciate your son,His Dad, alot more..All the kids in my DH's family have grown up wonderfully and talk about their parents alot(with the exception of my hubby)even my kids love to talk about what they remember.

His memorys of his dad wont fade because I am sure he has a WONDERFFUL Grandma to keep them going!!!

Misitx5,Thank you so much for your kind words.I think the holidays just amplify all the hurt and things left unsaid or undone when a loved one passes.Some peole feel so uncomfortable talking about lost family members.You know we lost a baby GrandSon last October(from abuse and neglect) and my Hubby never mentions his name...won't discuss the ex DIL or anything that happened.  ::MonkeyNoNo:: I know it is painful but it just creates so much tension.Feel like you're walking on eggshells.
 I don't know why these things happen,but they do.I wouldn't wish this grief on anyone.
I am very fortunate to have a good relationship with my Son's wife.Some people don't get that.
I will be thinking of you during the Holidays,and wish you a good New Year. Thanks for listening.

Well, this is just a sad time for so many of us.  My EvilX decided he was tired of paying my support payments so went back to court and lied through his teeth about his income and got my payments reduced to am amount so small no one could possibly live on it.

He even bragged about his "million dollar home with a million dollar view" and the judge said he did NOT believe that was his only income but that I failed to prove he had other income.  He just retired and says he is living only on social security.  HA!  He sold his medical practice for a huge sum but put it all in his house.

Anyway, neither I nor my lawyer have a clue as to how to prove he has more income, etc.  Could be hidden anywhere under any name, etc.  I am not old enough to get social security and was stay at home mom and have nothing in work history nor marketable skills.  Also have rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.  Not physically able to work at at real job was why I did the pups because I could do that at home.

Well, I won't be able to keep my home now so can't do pups any more.  I don't want to be a burden to my children.  I do have a little money in IRA that I will use until I can think what to do.  I do not want to sell my little mini farm and have worked so hard to keep it but I can't now.

Not sure what I will do and will wait until after Christmas to try to decide.

So my heart is very heavy this Christmas as are the hearts of so many others.  May we all find comfort in the joy and love of the season.

Sending a mental hug to all monkeys hurting.  This time of year is difficult to say the least.

Anna ~ I feel your pain with support payments...my EvilX just keeps fathering more children that he can't or won't take care of...try your local BAR association, they usually have lawyers who work for reduced rates, it sounds like you need someone on your side who knows the law.

I wish I had some suggestions for you, but have seen this before.  My cousin was married to a dentist and had two children.  When the marriage failed, he claimed to have sold his share in his practice to his partner, claimed he had no income and my cousin ended up having to sell her home, the kids no longer could attend the private school they were in and he remarried.  He died young due to illness and abuses of alcohol & drug effects on his body.  She wasn't able to prove his income.  Her kids are now grown and she is managing an apartment complex. 

If you take monies from your IRA, be prepared to pay a penalty if under 59 1/2 years, and there's always the tax.  Just having the IRA, you probably may not qualify for any assistance (eg. weatherization, heat, electric), because it counts as income.  If your lupus or rhumatoid arthritis is debilitating enough, you may be qualified for SSDI, but there is at least a 6 month waiting period after filing, under normal circumstances.   

I do wish for some comfort, peace and joy for you and all who face uncertainty today.

Can you get a court order to obtain his latest tax return?  Also, if he borrowed money for this house, his loan application would show his income, investments, etc.  Aside from that, I hope he develops a nasty termite problem both in his foundation and his briefs.

Thanks for your kind words.  Yes, that is exactly the same thing that happened to me.  EvilX is in cahoots with the man who bought his practice and who will pay him under the table.  No way I can prove that.

I just turned 60 so maybe there won't be penalties for taking IRA early.  Taxes, yes.  Need to do it after the first of the year to put on next year's taxes and before Obama can raise capital gains taxes as he says he will.  I hope to hold on to my home long enough to sell it and not be forced into foreclosure. 

There is a microscopic condo that belongs to my oldest son in Virginia and he says I can come live there but I am not sure I could take the crowds after being so rural for the last few years. 

I am happy here and feel I am too old to change totally but will be forced to do so and will break my heart to give up all my dogs except maybe one small Yorkie.

How these men can hurt not only the mother of their children but the children as well just is beyond me.  But some of them sure can do it.

Trimm...I would like to share something with you that a friend of mine does.  Her husband died very young.  Her son was just an infant at the time.  She was desparate to find a way for her son to feel connected to his dad so what she does is this.  She gets a few helium filled balloons and she and her son go to the cemetary and say a prayer and then release the balloons up to heaven.  They do this on birthdays, Christmas, Easter and even Halloween.  She says it's as helpful to her as it is to her son.  Bless you.

Hi everyone. I need help if you can give it.

My mom and dad have a beloved black lab. They love this dog. I am telling you, I used to be the baby. I am not the baby anymore, this dog is.  Anyway, Zoe has become sick and has lost 14 lbs since Thanksgiving. She doesn't poop anymore, she just squirts.  They live in the woods and the vet is on vacation and they plan to take the dog to the vet on the 2nd, but is there anything they can do in the meantime?  She is keeping food down today so far. I guess I want to know can they give her pedialyte or pediasure until the vet gets back? Or is there anything else they can give her?

You might want to feed your dog exclusively chicken and rice.  It may help the loose bowels.  This is what vets have had us do in the past, when our dogs had gastroenteritis and other stomach ailments.  It could be intestinal parasites.  I also wonder if your folks dog may have gotten into some garbage and got a bacterial infection or ate something over rich and it's affecting her pancreas?

I saw this online:

"In an older dog, IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease), or intestinal cancer are added to the list of possibilities.  An intestinal biopsy will diagnose either of these problems.  Steroids can be used to lessen the clinical signs.  I would recommend speaking to your veterinarian to ensure there isn't a risk for either of these conditions.

I would recommend a visit to your veterinarian to determine the cause of the diarrhea.  It is not normal to have chronic diarrhea problems."

Is there anyway any vet could at least give some advice to you about how to care for the dog until the appointment?  I know you all must be worried out of your minds!  If she continues to drink water, that is really, really good.

This sounds like what my little Sherlock had before he died.  Prostrate cancer.  The vet gave him some medicine and said if it wasn't cancer the prostrate would shrink and he'd be fine....if it didn't shrink there was nothing else to do.  His advice was to give me mineral water, we used grape which he loved and we gave him small doses of mineral oil.  He did give us a box of packets of "FortifFlora" which helps whith the nausea.  We just sprinkled a little bit of it over his food.  The vet also told us to let him eat anything he wanted since he wasn't interested in dog food anymore.  Ken went to the deli and had them thin slice ham and turkey meat which he loved and ate right up.
Does your town have an emergency vet?  Check your yellow pages.  Surprisingly, they aren't much more expensive than a normal vet.
My heart is with Zoe and let's hope for a Christmas miracle.

Hi Carolyn! The advice given here by katysmom and Muffy is good advice. 14 pounds since Thanksgiving is a very significant weight loss and the dog needs to get to the vet as soon as possible. I agree with the advice that if there is a 24 hr Emergency Care Vet network in a neighboring town, it would be a good idea.

It's just impossible to know what's really going on without an exam and most likely testing. I don't know how likely it is but it's also  possible the dog has an intestinal obstruction from something he swallowed, and that's causing the stool problems because it's all that can get around the obstruction. When that happens, toxins can build and impaction behind the obstruction can occur.

Good Morning and Merry Christmas!  I just talked to my Mom and Dad and my brother is driving up north the 5 hrs to take her to an out of town vet. The roads are almost impassible, but he's doing it anyway for the new baby of the family. Thank you for the advice and kind thoughts.

Lucinda ~  This has been discussed off and on since I've been with Scared Monkeys, and I don't think there will be a members only area.  We're pretty transparent here.  Even with a "members only" area, you would need to exercise caution about personal information, imo.   Even  posters on what they believe to be PRIVATE forums  find their information and pictures  shared on the internet.   One thing you could do is have a free, throw away email like a hotmail account.  Don't use your real name or information when setting it up.  That way, if there is a problem, you can get rid of the account.  JMHO

No idea or question is dumb..  The question you need to ask yourself is would you announce personal information in a public gathering such as a grocery or department store just because you happen to know 4-5 of the people there personally.  The internet is a very public forum no matter what safe guards are put into place.  It is possible to turn up even private forum information through a google search.  Some of those here use a secondary e-mail to communicate with those who are close and eventually may even share their primary contact e-mail.  Some of us just do not reveal more than what we know would be common knowledge anyway.  I have not had problems with giving out my e-mail addy just because of a firewall and a very stringent spam filter and reporting program.  Remember even if a person is an accepted member does not necessarily guarantee they are who they say they are.  On the other hand, this tends to be one of the safer forums you can participate in.  Just use caution and common sense.

I am so sorry to hear about Zoe.  I know what it is like to lose a fur baby. 

My sister-in-law lost her fur baby this year after losing her 20 year old son 3 years ago.  It was very hard for her.  This year she showed me a picture of her new Teddy Bear Eskimo (or something like that) she has been watching grow on the internet.  She has connected with this woman who raises these dogs and they have formed a special relationship.  This woman is so nurturing with her pups and has told my sister-in-law to watch the Dog? Whisperer, which she has done faithfully. 

My SIL says she feels like she is having a baby.  I am so excited to see the spark in her eyes that has been gone for the past three years. 

Where there is life, there is hope.  I will pray your family finds comfort during this tough time.

Being a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts for over 11 years I can personally recount incidents with homosexual male adults infiltrating the Boy Scouts. Drilling peep hole in the shower walls  at summer camp. After hour forays in to young scouts tents. Massaging a pulled muscle after a hike, that turns erotic. The adult leadership has to be constantly vigilante for these and many other suspicious activities. The offender is immediately discharged and criminal charges filed, but most parents don't want to traumatize there child more so the charges are usually dropped or plea bargain a reduced sentence to usually a slap on the wrist.

Some statistics about the Homosexual lifestyle:

    * One study reports 70% of homosexuals admitting to having sex only one time with over 50% of their partners (3).

    * One study reports that the average homosexual has between 20 and 106 partners per year (6). The average heterosexual has 8 partners in a lifetime.

    * Many homosexual sexual encounters occur while drunk, high on drugs, or in an orgy setting (7).

Since homosexuality has been removed from the APA list of mental illnesses, so has pedophilia (except when the adult feels "subjective distress") (27).

    * Homosexuals account for 3-4% of all gonorrhea cases, 60% of all syphilis cases, and 17% of all hospital admissions (other than for STDs) in the United States (5). They make up only 1-2% of the population.

    * Homosexuals live unhealthy lifestyles, and have historically accounted for the bulk of syphilis, gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, the "gay bowel syndrome" (which attacks the intestinal tract), tuberculosis and cytomegalovirus (27).

    * 73% of psychiatrists say homosexuals are less happy than the average person, and of those psychiatrists, 70% say that the unhappiness is NOT due to social stigmatization (13).

    * 25-33% of homosexuals and lesbians are alcoholics (11).

    * Of homosexuals questioned in one study reports that 43% admit to 500 or more partners in a lifetime, 28% admit to 1000 or more in a lifetime, and of these people, 79% say that half of those partners are total strangers, and 70% of those sexual contacts are one night stands (or, as one homosexual admits in the film "The Castro", one minute stands) (3). Also, it is a favorite past-time of many homosexuals to go to "cruisy areas" and have anonymous sex.

    * 78% of homosexuals are affected by STDs (20).

    * Judge John Martaugh, chief magistrate of the New York City Criminal Court has said, "Homosexuals account for half the murders in large cities" (10).

    * Captain William Riddle of the Los Angeles Police says, "30,000 sexually abused children in Los Angeles were victims of homosexuals" (10).

    * 50% of suicides can be attributed to homosexuals (10).

    * Dr. Daniel Capron, a practicing psychiatrist, says, "Homosexuality by definition is not healthy and wholesome. The homosexual person, at best, will be unhappier and more unfulfilled than the sexually normal person" (10).     * It takes approximately $300,000 to take care of each AIDS victim, so thanks to the promiscuous lifestyle of homosexuals, medical insurance rates have been skyrocketing for all of us(10).


    * Homosexuals were responsible for spreading AIDS in the United States, and then raised up violent groups like Act Up and Ground Zero to complain about it. Even today, homosexuals account for well over 50% of the AIDS cases in the United States, which is quite a large number considering that they account for only 1-2% of the population.

    * Homosexuals account for a disproportionate number of hepatitis cases: 70-80% in San Francisco, 29% in Denver, 66% in New York City, 56% in Toronto, 42% in Montreal, and 26% in Melbourne (8 ).

    * 37% of homosexuals engage in sadomasochism, which accounts for many accidental deaths. In San Francisco, classes were held to teach homosexuals how to not kill their partners during sadomasochism (8 ).

    * 41% of homosexuals say they have had sex with strangers in public restrooms, 60% say they have had sex with strangers in bathhouses, and 64% of these encounters have involved the use of illegal drugs (8  ).

    * Depending on the city, 39-59% of homosexuals are infected with intestinal parasites like worms, flukes and amoebae, which is common in filthy third world countries (8 ).

    * The median age of death of homosexuals is 42 (only 9% live past age 65). This drops to 39 if the cause of death is AIDS. The median age of death of a married heterosexual man is 75 (8 ).

    * The median age of death of lesbians is 45 (only 24% live past age 65). The median age of death of a married heterosexual woman is 79 (8 ).

    * Homosexuals are 100 times more likely to be murdered (usually by another homosexual) than the average person, 25 times more likely to commit suicide, and 19 times more likely to die in a traffic accident (8  ).

    * 21% of lesbians die of murder, suicide or traffic accident, which is at a rate of 534 times higher than the number of white heterosexual females aged 25-44 who die of these things(8 ).

    * 50% of the calls to a hotline to report "queer bashing" involved domestic violence (i.e., homosexuals beating up other homosexuals) (18  ).

    * About 50% of the women on death row are lesbians (12). Homosexuals prey on children.

    * 33% of homosexuals ADMIT to minor/adult sex (7).

    * There is a notable homosexual group, consisting of thousands of members, known as the North American Man and Boy Love Association ( NAMBLA). This is a child molesting homosexual group whose cry is "SEX BEFORE 8 BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE." This group can be seen marching in most major homosexual parades across the United States.

    * Homosexuals commit more than 33% of all reported child molestations in the United States, which, assuming homosexuals make up 2% of the population, means that 1 in 20 homosexuals is a child molestor, while 1 in 490 heterosexuals is a child molestor (19).

    * 73% of all homosexuals have had sex with boys under 19 years of age (9).

    * Many homosexuals admit that they are pedophiles: "The love between men and boys is at the foundation of homosexuality" (22).

    * Because homosexuals can't reproduce naturally, they resort to recruiting children. Homosexuals can be heard chanting "TEN PERCENT IS NOT ENOUGH, RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT" in their homosexual parades. A group called the "Lesbian Avengers" prides itself on trying to recruit young girls. They print "WE RECRUIT" on their literature. Some other homosexuals aren't as overt about this, but rather try to infiltrate society and get into positions where they will have access to the malleable minds of young children (e.g., the clergy, teachers, Boy Scout leaders, etc.) (8  ). Ok, I'll let you in on a secret that I have never told anyone. I've had 2 very close encounters with homosexual pedophiles. Once when I was 17 and early enlisting in the service in 1968. Back then you got a railroad ticket from the recruiter and caught the train from Warren, Oh to Cleveland where all your physicals and paperwork was done. You finished up about 3 hours before the return train left for Warren. Only thing to do was hang out in Terminal Square RR station. I was approached and hounded by a very tall black man that offered me all kinds of stuff if I would go back to his place . I seen a Terminal cop and hung out with him until the guy left. The cop told me that " Yeah, he's _______ and is always down here trying to pick up boys, your lucky you didn't fall for his lies"

The other time I was only 14 and had walked to the Leavittsburg High School basketball game. When the game was over I started walking back home. It was freezing rain and I was getting soaked and cold when a car pulled up beside me and the guy asked me if I needed a ride. Now, back in the 60's it wasn't exactly hitch hiking and most everybody in small communities gave others even strangers lifts. So I got in. We went about 4 blocks and he passed the turn to my house. I'm starting to get scared and told him to stop and I would get out there. I was ready to roll out of a moving car. But, when I looked down the door handle was gone and I was trapped. Luckily a couple more blocks up a car had spun out and there was a cop car there and the road was blocked. I told him I was going to start screaming. He said he didn't mean no harm, and lowered the power window on my side. He told me to reach outside and open the door that way. I did and ran the whole way home. I never mentioned this to my Mom in fear of getting grounded or worse.   

So yeah, I have a well defined animosity to homosexuals & pedophiles.

My brother had encounters when in college...he sometimes would tell us he had a ride back, but ended up hitchhiking...he had one tracter trailer driver make advances after he accepted a ride, and he was able to get out due to similar circumstances....scary stuff. 

Sure is scary stuff.

And gets scarier as you get older and realize how naive and stupid a teenager you were. And that your very lucky to still be alive.

Brother got a degree long after this incident in communications and then went on to a master's in psychology...every experience has an effect.  IMO, he's trying to help.

I post this here, knowing there is no good way to tell anyone that remembers Peaches from her active days in Natalee's discussion and her inspiration in her own rally prayer thread. Scared Monkeys has lost a friend. This world has lost a truly special and inspirational person. Our prayers should continue for her family and loved ones. Peaches made her mark in this world and has left a permanent thumbprint on my heart.

John Travolta's Son Dies

Rand Memorial Hospital in the Bahamas tells TMZ the son of John Travolta died today.

We're told 16-year-old Jett was vacationing with Travolta and wife Kelly Preston. We do not know the circumstances of his death.

There have been reports that Jett was autistic, though Travolta has denied it, saying he suffers from Kawasaki Syndrome, a condition which often leads to heart disease.

This is very sad.

That was neat, but sad, thank you.  When I was little, my uncle owned one of the old theaters down town.  We used to get dropped off there, but we had to stay all day until he got off work.  It had a balcony and a downstairs.  We had to choose where we were going to sit and stay there.  No running around.  We were allowed two things from the concession stand.  It was a wonderful place.  All burgandy curtains.  When you sat down, and the lights went down, the burgendy curtains would part, then the see thru ones, then the cartoon would start... When the Christmas prarade came to town, my cousins and I would go to the windows and watch it go by.  My Grandfather owned the drivein movie in Broken Arrow.  It was just grass, bumps and speakers, but it had a playground with a train.  We would go there in my dad's convertible.  He would park backwards.  Then we would all run to the playground and play til the movie started.  Of course that was when my family could see.  Ah good times.........

My dad owned a car lot on 11th street.  If I told you the name of it you would recognize it.  It had a pole with a car that went around top.  Bare yellow lightbulbs lit up the car lot at night.  And plastic banners blew in the wind.  When he had a sale, he would put balloons up too.  I like to go there because he had a pop machine and a gum ball machine.   The only thing I hated was when I was a Brownie, Dad would make me practice by selling Girl Scout Cookies to all of the people buying cars.  He would say now step right up.  Show them the cookies, tell them how good they are-  I would just die.  The best  thing was, he would always drive home a brand new car, so we never knew what we were getting.  One time he brought home a brand new herse.  That was fun to play in.  One time he brought home a car hauler, we played like that was a jungle jim!!!!

Very sad..I was bored today and was looking thru all the info on Jett's passing and I noticed a TON of speculation that he was autistic, then I found a video of him with his family in Paris a couple of weeks ago and I'm not one that like to speculate, but .......well, I'll find the link and let others judge whether or not it's true. I just found it odd that they had to lead him bu hand to the car and buckle him in, and that they kept a baby monitor in his room. Then I read in old archives that Kelly P had another son with her previous hubby Kevin Gage, and on two of the sites archived it does indeed state that they had a son, and neigbors in HI have stated that he was severly disabled ::MonkeyConfused:: I just pray that if he did indeed have autism and seizures that he was allowed the proper medication especially for the seizures~but Scientology doesn't recognize autism, so it just seems so sad that maybe his death was preventable. My heart aches for their loss as I know you would have to put me away if I had to bury my child ::MonkeyWaa::

A1, your memories are great.  Thanks for sharing them.  I may know where that car lot is/was on 11th, as I lived along there on the TU campus.  I lived in Tulsa for 6 years while in college & grad school, but since have been living back in my home state.  I want to visit again this spring and drag along my brother-in-law who's never been there.  I miss the redbuds around Easter.

Oh, I also wanted to say I found that site looking for info on Mohawk Music.  I loved that store and blew tons of money on imports.  I wanted to buy a t-shirt (and I'm not so much of a t-shirt kinda gal), and I was sorry to see they had gone out of business.

Yes! Especially since I was off for 12 days before I had to come back to work this morning.  ::MonkeyWaa::

January 5th, we have signed a contract for the house rebuild and it was a rough ride (1 year and 3 months). We found a great (new)builder who has a wonderful decorator/designer working for/with him and preparation of the lot began today. He is within our budget and then some. I am happy and at peace for the first time in a long while.
I hope to post pictures at some point, to share my happiness with you all.

Thanks to all the monkeys, sweet angel Peaches included, who were here for me during this time.

I forgot to add this. As some of you recall, I lost all family photos I had from my immediate family and my parents and all the photos they had (dating back to 1800's). I was depending on my cousin to get some of our family photos. Well guess what. She had sold her big house and bought a smaller one and was gutting it and completely redoing. She stored her antiques, photos, clothing for the cold season, etc while her house was being redone. Ike came through and took out their storage unit. Hundreds of units and only 6 were destroyed. Destroyed meaning, nothing was there---nothing.

My point in telling this is not for sympathy or anything else. My point is, do those things you think about right now. Do not procrastinate. Count your blessings.

Bottom line is, I feel blessed---even if a round about way.  ::MonkeyWink::

Shell, I don't know the back story on the loss of your home, but you mentioned Hurricane Ike ... not asking you in particular where you live, but I'm in Southeast Texas, the Golden Triangle area... are you in this area as well ?   Was wondering if you lost your home during one of our hurricanes of the past few years. 

I am so fricking excited tonight!! I got my dream job!! I am now the manager at a super duper upper class dog kennel complete with veterinary services! This place hasn't opened yet so I get to start from scratch with all the forms, files and decisions!! The owner called tonight and offered me the position. It was miraculous too b/c I hadn't heard from her since November. I went on another interview today and as I pulled up to the bldg I said a prayer. Thank you Lord for this opportunity but I really want the kennel job. Not more than one minute later, I get a v/m from Michelle asking me to call her. I waited till I got home and called, and she offered!! I am just walking on air right now!! This place will have luxury suites, warm water therapy pools, an outdoor pool in the shape of a milkbone with spitting fountains for the dogs to play in. They will also have a puppy program that will potty train your puppy while you are at work!!! I'm so impressed. This will encompass all my skills. Like I have been training my whole career for this place!! I even get to deal with OSHA and ADA!!

It was hard work, but I loved every minute of it. except that one day, when I smashed my finger. also, there was a couple of days my knees had the worst carpet burn ever, but other than that..pure bliss! I've already drawn out the sketches for this year's Dickens show. The stage will have the toyshop, but will have victorian village buildings behind it, to make it look like a real street out of a dicken's novel. and the toyshop will be more 3-d. it will be like looking through a big window into the interior of it..
gosh I'm ranting! LOL. I'll post a pic of it.

Bud's Girl---I lost my house in Firestorm '07. It was my cousin who lost the stored contents of her storage unit in Ike(family pictures). She was redoing a house and had antiques etc stored. I could have gotten a lot of photos from her but she lost hers too.

Klaas---I have been here sporadically lately and I did not know what happened to your FIL and nephew. Saying prayers for your family.

And yes, she lives in Southeast Texas, Golden Triangle area. The storage unit was wiped out. Her beach house was on Crystal Beach. She said it took 2 hours before she could even locate where her beach house was. All the landmarks were gone. Crystal Beach is pretty much gone, from what I hear. So sad. I have not been there in years, but it was where we spent many summers.

Awww, that is wonderful. I often wish I had had a job in the past where I worked with animals. Vet, zoo, anything!

Speaking of earthquakes/fires/hurricanes/tornados

Yes in Ca we have earthquakes and fires but I have also been through a a few hurricanes. Katrina and Ike, I was NOT there for but I do have family and friends who were there. My cousin was telling me about the snake problem---a friend went into his house and killed 7 snakes, the exterminator came and told him to leave the house immediately. Apparently, they lay their eggs in attic area and hatch there after water recedes. He said if he killed 7 or so in the lower part of the house, the attic was surely full of 100's of them. EWWW  ::MonkeyShocked::

She also said there are still missing people, and when they (searchers)pulled back sections of the grass, they were finding bodies.  We do not always hear the extent of the problems people have. The story dies down. The aftermath is horrible. With the fire, we say we were all burned twice. Once by the fires, then again by how the insurance companys treated us. Not all insurance companys, but the majority of them. Then, after the rebuilding starts, the mortage companys hold on to needed money. Some folks are having to fight for their funds to be released.

Fires/earthquakes/ hurricanes/tornados/mudslides/avalanches etc---always something. It is  next to impossible to live anywhere that is disaster free. As life moves on, those who went through the disaster still deal with the aftermath. It is the same as losing someone to death or any event that makes a major change in ones life. We can't worry about those things, but we can give thanks when things are going well for us and offer prayers for those who are hurting.

Boo, I am SOOO happy for you!  That's wonderful news, and I'm sure you'll be great at it.  I too have been out of work, and I know how demoralizing it can be.  Congrats!

Before I was diagnosed I had the same problem, Juju! i also have a thyroid disorder & my endocrinologist suggested it was a female problem!?  ::MonkeyNoNo:: I never went back to him! I really thought the symptoms I was having were thyroid related. They ran every test available, all negative. I finally broke down & made an appointment with a rheumatologist & he made the diagnosis. i had had a hysterectomy just 6 months earlier & I believe that is what started it. I also firmly believe fibro is associated with thyroid. i take 6 medications daily just to feel normal. But this time of year is horrible for me, i hate cold wheather!

the cold just kills me.  i have had to suffer some idiots in the medical profession.  i even had one doc tell me "well they don't know if that (fibro) is even real, i just got up and left his office.  i had a hystmy at 27 and i can't remember if the fibro followed that.  to my knowledge i don't have a thyroid problem.  i got a divorce in 96 and have not had med insurance since 98, so you can imagine the hell i have had to go through to find help. there are only a couple of rheum docs where i live and they refused to se because i didn't have insurance

Oh, I'm so sorry, Juju. i don't have ins. right now either as my hubby is a fulltime student(RN) & works part-time. But we did have ins. when i saw the rheum. The fibro was a last resort. I seriously did not think that's what it was! I thought it was my thyroid & my doctor refused to do tests that were not standard procedure; he was old-school. My sister found an article about fibromyalgia & I took it with me to the doctor. He did the tender point test & mine was 15 out of 18. I just couldn't believe it! I am never ever without pain, the meds just tone it down. it's something I've learned to live with; but weather, Holidays, etc. all influence how i feel & I hate it! I constantly overdo it as I refuse to let this get me down. But sometimes I'm forced to relent as I cannot physically or mentally move. Enter the fibro fog you mentioned! I wish you were able to see a rheum in your area, mine has helped me alot. Hugs!!!

A letter from _______________(fill in the name of the person who suffers from Fibromyalgia) If you were born with healthy genes, you may know me but you don't understand me.  I was not as lucky as you.  I inherited the predisposition to chronic pain, fatigue and forgetfulness.  I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (FMS) after months, years or even decades of mysterious illness.  Because you didn't know how sick I was, you may have called me lazy, a hypochondriac, or simply trying to get attention.  If you have the time to read on, I would like to help you understand how different I am from you.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FIBROMYALGIA
FMS is not the newest fad disease.  In 1815, a surgeon at the University of Edinburgh, William Balfour, described fibromyalgia.  Over the years, it has been known as chronic rheumatism, myalgia and fibrositis.  Unlike diseases, syndromes do not have a known cause, but they do have a specific set of signs and symptoms which, unfortunately for the patient, take place together.  Rheumatoid arthritis and lupus are also syndromes.

The many physical and emotional problems associated with FMS are not psychological in origin.  This is not an "all in your head" disorder.  However please remember, stress can affect the body, just as physical pain can affect the mind, causing stress and depression.  If someone needs help in coping or dealing with depression, they should see a therapist or Psychiatrist, but it does not mean they are "crazy."  It may help you to find methods of coping!

In 1987, the American Medical Association recognized FMS as a true physical illness and major cause of disability.  It is recognized as a disabling condition by the ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION, THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION and the MAYO CLINIC, among others.

This syndrome may strike life-long athletes as viciously as it does couch potatoes.  It can be disabling and depressing, interfering with even the simplest activities of daily life.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME
(Keep in mind that these things may apply to some, not all of fibro patients)
My pain - My pain is not your pain.  It is not caused by inflammation.  Taking your arthritis medication will not help me.  I cannot work my pain out or shake it off.  It is not even a pain that stays put.  Today it is in my shoulder, but tomorrow it may be in my foot or gone.  My pain is believed to be caused by improper signals sent to the brain, possibly due to sleep disorders.  It is not well understood, but it is VERY real and very painful.

My fatigue - I am not merely tired, I am often in a severe state of exhaustion.  I may want to participate in physical activities, but I can't.  Please do not take this personally.  If you saw me shopping in the mall yesterday, but I can't help you with yard work today, it isn't because I don't want to.  I am, most likely, paying the price for stressing my muscles beyond their capability.

My forgetfulness - Those of us who suffer from it call it fibrofog.  I may not remember your name, but I do remember you.  I may not remember what I promised to do for you, even though you told me just seconds ago.  My problem has nothing to do with my age (young people can get fibro) but may be related to sleep deprivation.  I do not have a selective memory.  On some days, I just don't have any short-term memory at all.

My clumsiness - If I stomp on your toes or run into you five times in a crowd, I am not purposely targeting you.  I do not have the muscle control for that.  If you are behind me on the stairs, please be patient.  These days, I take life and stairwells one step at a time.

My sensitivities - I just can't stand it!  "It" could be any number of things: bright sunlight, loud or high-pitched noises, odors.  FMS has been called the "aggravating everything disorder."  So try to understand if I must decline certain invitations, or go home suddenly.  I really can't stand it.

My intolerance - Perhaps I can't stand heat, either, or humidity.  I may sweat, profusely.  Some people cannot sweat at all and so the heat is even more unbearable!  Both are equally embarrassing, so please don't feel compelled to point this shortcoming out to me.  I know.  And, don't be surprised if I shake uncontrollably when it's cold.  I don't tolerate cold, either.  My internal thermostat is broken, and nobody knows how to fix it.

My depression - Yes, there are days when I would rather stay in bed or in the house or die.  I have lost count of how many of Dr. Kevorkian's "patients" suffered from FMS as well as other related illnesses.  Severe, unrelenting pain can cause depression, but it is a result of the Fibro, not a cause of it.  Some days I may just feel like giving up.  Your sincere concern and understanding can pull me back from the brink.  Your snide remarks can tip me over the edge.

My stress - My body does not handle stress well.  If I have to give up my job, work part time, or handle my responsibilities from home, I'm not lazy.  Every day stresses make my symptoms worse and can incapacitate me completely.

My weight - I may be fat or I may be skinny.  Either way, it is not by choice.  My body is not your body.  My appestat is broken, and nobody can tell me how to fix it.  Often the medication I must take causes weight gain, but many of us with fibro suffer from severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome and lose weight.

My need for therapy - If I get a massage every week, don't envy me.  My massage is not your massage.  Consider how a massage would feel if that charley horse you had in your leg last week was all over your body.  Massaging it out was very painful, but it had to be done.  My body is filled with painful knots.  If I can stand the pain, regular massage can help, at least temporarily.

My good days - If you see me smiling and functioning normally, don't assume I am well.  I am having a good day but I am not cured.  I suffer from a chronic pain and fatigue illness with no cure.  I can have my good days or weeks or even months.  In fact, the good days are what keep me going.

My uniqueness - Even those who suffer from FMS are not alike.  That means not every fibro sufferer may not have all of the problems mentioned above.  I do have pain above and below the waist and on both sides of my body which has lasted for a very long time.  I may have migraines or hip pain or shoulder pain or knee pain, but I do not have exactly the same pain as anyone else.

I hope that this helps you understand me, but if you still doubt my pain, your local bookstore, library and the internet have many good books and articles on fibromyalgia.

you are so welcome, i am happy to help.  when i found this i cried for days, just in relief that i could explain to people, especially my family.  i am so sorry you have to suffer this too.  for years all docs would do is give me meds for depression, they never helped.  there have been muscle relaxers that sometimes help.  the only thing that has ever helped me and allowed me to function is pain meds.  when you ask a doc for them they treat you like you are some kind of drug addict.  there have been times i have had to resort to other measures for some relief.  i am laid off from my job right now, but i was working at a mininum of 60 hrs. for over a year.  i crawled myself out of bed to get there and crawled back home to bed, it was all i was able to do.  i really needed this down time but i hope i get to go back to work soon.  it has allowed me some time to clean my house, when i can get away from this computer!

Hi, Sea, I found one picture, I guess my Mom has the rest of them. We saw Elvis on June 2, 1977; just a couple months before he died, in Mobile, Al. We had 4th row tickets & the entire experience was surreal. I was 16 & my Mom had always been a huge Elvis fan. We went with other family including my sister who was 14 at the time. I have a picture of my sister holding onto a scarf at the edge of the stage(along with about 20 women) but I can't find that one! ::MonkeyWaa:: They wrestled the scarf from her though! I remember being in awe the entire time looking up at him. There was alot of talk about him being sick. He was bloated & even forgot words to songs he's been singing for years(he had to use notes)! He even threw a cup of water on his girl singers at one point & it seemed to really hack them off!  ::MonkeyEek:: Still, we thought we were in heaven! I loved every minute of it & we were in shock when the news came that he had died. I visited Graceland with some friends a few months later, before it was opened to the public. We could only stand at the gate but I managed to pull a small rock out of the wall. When my Dad built a stone fireplace in our den, he put that rock front & center(at my request)!  ::MonkeyTongue:: Anyway, thought you might like to see this pic!

WOW Monken....to be so close...

I've only been a big fan of Elvis for about ten years now...having grown up in an English home, my mum use to listen to Tom Jones all the time..I love his voice and have seen him live several times..I have almost all of his albums (it's a slightly smaller collection than Elvis)
anyway..about ten years ago I happened to watch an Elvis special and I was hooked..many of my friends crack jokes about his appearance in the later years but none of them really knew anything about this amazing man. The story of his life I can never get enough of especially his generosity toward people and his unceasing desire to make people happy using a gift, only God could have given him..that amazing voice. He can take any song and make it his own..and make it better. I love his gospel music most..his voice is perfect for it. You wouldn't believe the number of people I know, Christians mostly, that never knew he sung gospel music. They only talk about his death..and never about his life....

I heard it best in a special I watched about his death "he died of terminal apathy" He didn't want to be Elvis anymore...imagine never being able to walk down the street or stop and have lunch at a restaurant without getting completely mauled to death...having to go shopping (before the internet) by getting the owner to open the doors in the middle of the night..or rent a movie theatre just so you could watch a movie with your family (before dvd)
Ironically..it was his fans who ultimately killed him.. JMO

Even though I wasn't a fan at the time..I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news that he died... every time I see his funeral, it brings me to tears.
One of two life's wishes for me before I go, is to visit Graceland..it must be amazing to walk through...some day I hope

I take everything you mentioned & more. I know what you mean about the pain meds, too. i have the same problem. I never talk about it so most people have no idea but my hubby is wonderful & my whole family is, as well. I am lucky in that respect. The support helps alot, especially when I feel like I'm dying. We were also big Tom Jones fans! In fact, his weekly variety show on tv was a must see for us. Did you get to see it? My Mom still has all of her Tom Jones albums & 45's, along with the Elvis ones, of course!  ::MonkeyTongue:: My Mom & her sister saw Elvis here at a fair in 1955 when they were teenagers. Elvis was not well know yet. In fact, when my aunt was here Christmas we were talking about this. They climbed a fence to get in to see him & he signed their tennis shoes & the back of their tshirts! I asked my Mom a long time ago why she didn't save them & she said they didn't have alot & those shoes & shirts were washed many times because they needed them to wear. Somewhere along the way, they were gone!  ::MonkeyWaa:: I would give almost anything to have those autographs now! My aunt said they thought he was so cute & polite & their Mom(my grandmother) liked him because he was so good to his mother! They also said they felt kinda sorry for him because his suit was wrinkled because he was living out of a suitcase. But man could he sing!!!! They've loved him ever since & along came my sister, brother & I & the love was passed on. We were in Orlando, Fl. visiting my aunt when we got the news of his death. i will never forget that the longest day I live! I also love his gospel music, my favorites are Lead Me, Guide Me & Bosom of Abraham! My hubby went on a business trip to Memphis a few years ago & got to go through Graceland & the "Lisa Marie" & saw all of the cars & his grave. i want to go there now, too. i would love to see it all! Elvis was a very kind & generous man, a true southern gentleman. By  the way, Lisa Marie looks just like him(I know you know that) & so does her daughter Riley! The "million dollar quartet" was a fluke get together of Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis..they just happened to get together one day in Sun records studio and started jamming together...Sam Phillips decided to turn on the recorder and the rest is history....

WASHINGTON - Many "reply all" fiascos result in mere embarrassment, but American diplomats have been told they may be punished for sending mass responses after an e-mail storm nearly knocked out one of the State Department's main electronic communications systems.

A cable sent last week to all employees at the department's Washington headquarters and overseas missions warns of unspecified "disciplinary actions" for using the "reply to all" function on e-mail with large distribution lists.

The cable, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press, was prompted by a major interruption in departmental e-mail caused by numerous diplomats hitting "reply all" to an errant message inadvertently addressed and copied to several thousand recipients.

"Department staff hitting 'reply to all' on an e-mail with a large distribution list is causing an e-mail storm on the department's OpenNet e-mail system," says the unclassified cable that was sent Thursday by Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick Kennedy.

He said the result was "effectively a denial of service as e-mail queues, especially between posts, back up while processing the extra volume of e-mails."

The cable orders employees to "take immediate action" to ensure they and their colleagues are "aware of the negative impact of hitting 'reply all'" and to delete e-mails addressed to large numbers of people that they might receive in error.

"Anyone who disregards these instructions will be subject to disciplinary actions," Kennedy wrote in the cable, which begins: "Please ensure widest distribution of this message."

Officials said the storm started when some diplomats used the 'reply all' function to respond to a blank e-mail sent recently to many people on the department's global address list.

Most demanded to be removed from the list while others used 'reply all' to tell their co-workers, in often less than diplomatic language, to stop responding to the entire group, the officials said.

Some then compounded the problem by trying to recall their initial replies, which generated another round of messages to the group, they said.

Hi, Sea! We went through tons of pics today at my Mom's & found the other pics of Elvis. There were lonly 2 more but, they're still elvis!  ::MonkeyTongue:: I also saw the pics my Mom has of his house in Tupelo. It is a very tiny "shotgun" house, but drwas a ton of fans every year. I can post those too if you want; I didn't get them today but I can. Here are the 2 pics. One of them has a woman in a white halter top that I don't have a clue who she is: she does take up half of the damn pic though! And the other one has my sister(in the center in the striped top) reaching for a scarf! The snow was not too bad, it was worse last March.  About 8 inches but now I see the cold is moving in. :(  We didn't lose power or anything, just messy.   I'm so sick of the gray skies and cold.  Seems like every year winter is longer and longer.  I took my son sledding and we had a blast.  At least we could get out and get some fresh air!  February is the worst IMO, just seems to never end!

Your dog is the cutest thing!  He looks ornery though!

Every time I see pics of Elvis at this stage of his life, it brings a tear to my eyes...(I'll admit it..some guys do get emotional) I'm a wreck after watching his funeral and listening to the
"American Trilogy" playing in the background.. I can't help it after reading so much about the person he was and not the person he became... *sniff*

Have you ever seen the show "He Touched Me..the gospel music of Elvis Presley" ? they show his funeral with the Trilogy playing at the end...I'm just gone after... for about an hour..I won't say any more about it in case you've already seen it or if you haven't, I don't want to spoil it for you if you're interested in seeing it...

It would be great to see the pics you have of his house in Tupelo, if it's not too much trouble for you..I've seen pics in books but there is something really cool about  seeing personal pics from someone who's been there... being a relatively new Elvis fan, I love hearing stories and seeing pics from those who've been fans since the begining..  ::MonkeyWink::

Yes he is a German Shepherd.  This pic is old though - he is now 5 months and weighs 45 lbs!  Vet says he will probably be at least 100 lbs.  I may need to get a second job to afford his food!

I do love him to pieces though. He was a gift for my 30th birthday.

Monken I'm happy to do that for you, I'll set it up in the Monkey Lounge I guess.  The problem is this, the cookbook really has nothing to do with Scared Monkeys.  It was not thought up by Administers of this site and we have no control over it.  In fact, we would not have done it because of possible issues with the TES non profit status.  That said I'll set up a thread.

I will say that Mrskub in November started a forum called ChatnGrumble and they have recruited many members from Scared Monkeys.  I imagine that someone that reads here and now posts there will tell her or already has told her you are trying to get ahold of her.

Give me a few minutes and I'll set up a thread.

Monken - I know nothing about the TES Cookbooks.  It was not sponsored by SM nor did anyone have anything to do with it in a official capacity.  It was the idea of Mrskub. 

As far as Mrskub's website, NO, I have not been there.  It is an INVITE only private forum but I have information that they have said some pretty bad things about ME, Red and SM.  This information I have received from many people that were invited to the site and shocked at what they were seeing. 

It apprears that Mrskub took issue with me when I told her I didn't think it was RIGHT to take recipes from the old SM Cookbook to fill up the TES Cookbook.

But in all seriousness, where we live his school is on the beach and it has the highest level of parent involvement in the school, it's a wonderful charter school and it actually became a school when a very wise, compassionate man donated his home on the beach for the beach kids to go to school on the Island. We live 1/2 a block away and sometime I drive him on my way to work, but mostly he skateboards. Zero crime, unless you include a bar fight once or twice a yr., no locked doors, no fences, everyone looks out for you, h@ll we don't even take the keys out of the car at night. I wish everyone could enjoy our blessed piece of heaven. By the way, what state do you live in??

I live in NE Ohio and let me tell ya when that big snow machine (AKA Lake Erie) starts pumping look out.  My mom has a beach house in SC so I love the ocean and always have.  I have looked at your myspace and photographs (beautiful by the way) and always take a mental vacation, even when I can't take a physical one.  A friend of mine lives on Sanibel Island, FL and is always teasing me to come down there and work.  Too much family up here at this point but it still sits in the back of my mind.  You just never know.  It does sound like Heaven on earth though!  It sounds like a wonderful, safe place to raise kids & also enjoy your golden years.

My mom has a place in Surfside Beach, just south of Myrtle.  She stays there about 60%of the time but comes home to Ohio for the summers because she can't stand to be away from her kids/grandkids!  My brother is mentally handycaped and he still lives here in OH in a group home.  We lost my Dad last year (they were together 50yrs) so she gets awfully lonely.  She also rents it for the summer to absorb some of the costs. 

Dolce has teased me a ton about Ohio drivers! So I know there are a lot of "snow birds" down that way.  I'm going to look your little slice of heaven up on the map and target that with Monster.com!  You just never know!  I'm in accounting and that is a very flexable field.

Yes, I live on Pensacola Beach and there is the Navy base is P-cola, there is Ft. Eglin near Ft. Walton and another base near Navarre .......so, should be plenty of job opp's. Actually, when I was looking for a pplace to move I had it narrowed down to 2 places in Florida, one near Naples and P-Cola Beach. I loved the fact that the Island had controlled access and such great schools, so I landed here. It was also the only place that gave me a guaranteed minimum salary which is rare because I work in a commision based job, so I think an accounting background would serve you well here. I moved here right after my 40th birthday, it was always a dream to live someone on the Redneck Riviera, so I say go for it. I wish I would have done it years ago. You'd love it no doubt.

I grew up going to Myrtle Beach and Garden City because we lived about 60 miles inland, but the water and sand are so different there than here~it's really hard to go back because I, nor my kids really ever want to leave. We even stay here for our vacation.

ITA about the Gulf, the water and sand are truly something to be seen.  Do you get to do much snokling?  Do you get to see much sea life?  We used to vacation near Sarasota but mom & dad wanted a place that they could drive to from here in a day trip, so they went w/Myrtle area.  It's OK, but not as pretty as the gulf coast!

thanks for your compliments on the photos, although it is HARD to take a bad photo on the beach don't you think..........the one in my siggy line was actually taken by my 8yr old son. I've been called the bitch all my life, but hey-I worked hard for that title, and yes I feel very calm and decompressed every day once my car crosses over onto the Island, I'm NEVER moving...nnnnever!

Well, no I don't snorkel too much here~I was spoiled by the snorkeling in Provodenciales TCI~IMO, the most beautiful snorkeling anywhere. I do dee quita a bit of sea life. Last yr when I first moved my son and I saw a HUGE sea turtle, he was at least 5 foot across in diamater, but he was injured by a jet ski and dying, I swam out there and pulled him as close to shore as I could get him/her (?) and called the Island Authority, only after that did I realize I was shark bait out there with a wounded sea turtle. More than anything we see dolphins really close, they are very playful here and the young ones ride the waves in like kids, it's so amazing to watch.

Hey there Admiral (Seasearcher)...so sorry to hear of all you're going through.  Two years ago my brother had a re-occurence of Hodgkin's Disease.  First time was 13 years ago and then wham! got it again.  He was lucky enough to be treated at Cleveland Clinic the second time...WONDERFUL PLACE!  He had a stem cell transplant and is doing great.  If you would like any information about it, please let me know.  I know exactly how you feel right now...I was terrified but his treatment went beautifully and I am so grateful. Please know, there's much hope.  Please let me know if I can do anything.

I appreciate your thoughts numbersgirl...I know the names of some of these medical things but have little of no knowledge of them..My sis had Hodgkin's about 5 years ago and they treated it with chemo/radiation...supposedly it was wiped out 100% but I struggle with the whole concept anyway and don't trust doctors at all..so we'll see. At this point, they don't believe the new lump is related..they tested her thyroid? and lymph system?? in what ever way docs do that and say results were negative..they suspect it may just be scar tissue built up around an old wire that's still in her from a previous pacemaker...she is 100% dependent on a pacemaker to live, if it stops..she stops.. I think they want to be sure what it is before removing this old wire (that's what I've been told by my mum who is in contact with her all the time) the docs are concerned because she is always very tired..I don't know why that would be a concern as I always tired too.. ::MonkeyHaHa:: but my  mum is known to keep things from me so I don't get stressed..which has the opposite effect because I know this..

We'll just have to wait for more info after the CT scan? which is in a couple of weeks...unfortunately the Clinic you mentioned is not an option...she's in England and not allowed over here (long story) so she's stuck with socialized medicine (Obama fans take note) which is substandard to the American heath system..hopefully things are going to turn out all right..she's been through a lot in her life and I hope hasn't run out of lives, but the cat's all come to her for advise on long living  ::MonkeyHaHa::

Thanks for the reply Admiral-Sea...I'll keep you and Sis in my prayers.  I will share this with you...when my brother was diagnosed a second time, I was beyond worried.  The first time, he was treated conventionally (like your Sis), and had the "all-clear" for many years.  The second time, doctors didn't know if it was a "new cancer" or a re-occurence of the old.  Didn't matter though....much, much better treatment this time around.  Like your Sis, his heart was weakened by the first round of chemo.  Anyway..please know that new meds, etc. have brought him back around and even his heart disease is controlled...please try not to be too stressed.  Medicine has come a very long way even in 5 short years.  Cleveland Clinic is really first rate (especially for heart) and folks come from all over the world to be treated there.  There's a chance they could get her into US as part of their research program.  Please, please let me know if I can help!

Hi everyone!  I want to make an effort at not being so shy, and post more often to get acquainted with everyone. I have been a Monkey since Natalee's case but havent posted much because I am still on dinosaur dialup and it's SO slow!! I have decided to just suffer with the "slow" and go ahead and post, one of my New Year's resolutions is to make an effort at participating in Scared Monkeys. I do medical transcription at home, typing doctors' dictation, have done this for 33 years and have had exposure to almost all the specialties, and have also taught several courses on medical terminology. One thing I can help with is taking medical terms and breaking them down into layman's language, so if I can help anyone with that just let me know, I will be happy to try to help you understand the medical jargon a little better. I can also share some very good medical and medicine links on the net for specific info. Just let me know if I can help, I will be happy to.

Hi Gabby....thanks so much.  Prayers mean alot.  When my brother was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease 13 years ago, my parents were still living.  He moved back home and they took care of him.  He was sooo sick from the chemo.  I would go to my parents house for lunch, dinner and on weekends to help out, give them a break and just be there for all three of them.  It broke my heart to see him suffer.  Since that time, both parents have died and my brother lives 1 hour away.  I was so scared trying to figure out how I could take care of him.  Long story short....he went to Cleveland Clinic and the treatment was completely different.  There are much better therapies today and he really didn't suffer like before.  I will be foreever grateful for what we experienced there.  It truly changed my life experiencing the level of care and compassion we received.  He's doing very well now and I know that each day is a gift.  Thank you so much for your kind offer.  I will watch for you in the cage...please don't be shy. CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - A monkey is on the loose in Tampa Bay.

Wildlife officials say the rhesus monkey isn't dangerous but the species is known to throw feces when mad.

Authorities have been trying to capture the primate since Tuesday afternoon. It managed to evade a bucket truck and tranquilizer dart.

Gary Morse with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the adult male is thought to have escaped from an unlicensed source. It was last seen in Clearwater.

Imagine being in your 50's and everything you have worked for and accumulated, including things of sentimental value, daily use and otherwise, is reduced to a horrible stench and ashes. Every heirloom and relic is ash. Every photo of all relatives many as far back as the 1800's and your children from birth onward, is reduced to ashes. No photos: baby books, first drawings, confirmations, Easters, Christmas mornings, first day of school. All those events one takes a photo of. Grandfathers highchair, Great Grandfathers letter to his parents from the gold rush, your childs first drawing and first day at school and many, many more cherished momentos are all gone. They do live in the memory. That is the good news.

You can't even imagine until it happens to you. And it probably will not.

Our lot is graded and trenched in preparation for the foundation. That is a wonderful thing but, the loss still sometimes overwhelms me. If I get emotional on other threads, please try to understand. I am getting closer to going home. It has been an emotional journey.

I was going to try to do some basic computer advice but looks like no one is here. I only do Windows so I can not be of any help on a mac.

The first thing I need is for you to identify which browser you are using. Mozzila or Internet Explorer. Might be a couple of extra steps for Mozilla.

Ok Basically if you need to rid your computer of cookies.

 choose 1. Start
2 programs
3 accessories
4 disc cleanup

after disc cleanup comes up you get a menu that says which disc do you want to clean up?

Choose C

It will take a short while depending on how long it has been since your last clean up but first it will tell you which things you can safely get rid of . Primarily you want to get rid of temporary files.

I will give instructions for disc defragment later unless Klaas or San or some other smart monkey does them first. It is my nap time. ::MonkeyLaugh::

I see people mentioning problems with ads on the SM site in the Caylee thread. I just want to tell those who use Firefox this:

I run Windows XP and I use Firefox (version 2.0.0.20) as my browser. Since I started using an extension called AdBlock Plus (version 1.0.1) I see NO ads on the SM forum. NONE at all. No popups, no still ads. NONE. You can find the extension by doing a simple google search for it.

I hope this helps some people. I am going to post this in the thread about computer help, if I can find it ;-)

Shell, I'm glad your home is finally being built, and want you to know that I understand the loss of all of those sentimental things that all of us cherish and take for granted.  My SIL's home is getting there, too.  She had many of the photos we would have loved copies of but they are gone.  We did give them a picture for Christmas that we'd had copied and framed.  She cried and BIL said thank you several times.  It made us feel good that we could give them something to start with when the walls are ready.

Shell, this has been such a long journey for you. I'm so sorry this fell to you to go through. I remember being so worried, and so relieved to finally hear from you. It hit me when you asked for a simple recipe that had been lost that all those things that are so familiar, that we take for granted, and are at our fingertips, suddenly weren't there for you. I remember pulling it from my file to post it for you and thinking how simple for me, and how difficult for you it was. I know I'm whining. It's not Wisconsin, and I'm not going to need a shovel. I don't mind the snow, actually, it's beautiful when it snows. The mountains seen from all my windows are so pristine when they are covered with snow. But I am freezing!!!! The STUPID guy I hired 2 years ago to remove a support post in the downstairs den, and install an I beam to replace it, ruined the ceiling heat downstairs, and the heat pump just doesn't cut it when it's really cold. It makes a huge difference in the upstairs as well, and downstairs is just plain cold.

Here's the forecast, and I'm going to have to pick up a heater tomorrow:

LOS ANGELES -- Bob May, who in an entertainment career spanning more than 65 years won over a cult following as The Robot in the hit 1960s television show "Lost in Space," died Sunday of congestive heart failure. He was 69.

May died at a hospital in Lancaster, his daughter, Deborah May, told The Associated Press.

He was a veteran actor and stuntman who had appeared in movies, TV shows and on the vaudeville stage when he was tapped by "Lost in Space" creator Irwin Allen to play the Robinson family's loyal metal sidekick in the hit series that debuted in 1965.

"He always said he got the job because he fit in the robot suit," said June Lockhart, who played family matriarch Maureen Robinson. "It was one of those wonderful Hollywood stories. He just happened to be on the studio lot when someone saw him and sent him to see Irwin Allen about the part. Allen said, 'If you can fit in the suit you've got the job.'"

Although May didn't provide the robot's distinctive voice (that was done by announcer Dick Tufeld), he developed a devoted following of fans who sought him out at memorabilia shows.

"We gave them entertainment. We didn't try to lecture them. We just wanted to have fun with the family," he said at a 1995 reunion of the "Lost in Space" cast.

"Lost in Space" was a space-age retelling of "The Swiss Family Robinson" story in which Professor John Robinson, his wife and their children were on a space mission when their craft was knocked hopelessly off course by the evil Dr. Zachary Smith, who became trapped in space with them.

May's robot was the Robinson family's loyal sidekick, warning them of approaching disaster at every turn. His often-quoted expression to one of the children, "Danger, Will Robinson," became a national catch phrase.

The grandson of famed vaudeville comedian Chic Johnson, May was introduced to show business at age 2 when he began appearing in the "Hellzapoppin" comedy revue with Johnson and his partner, Ole Olsen.

He worked in vaudeville, nightclubs and theaters.

"My dad always ended his shows the same way his grandfather did, with a toast. May you live as long as you want to and may you laugh as long as you live," his daughter said.

He went on to appear in numerous films with Jerry Lewis and in such TV shows as "The Time Tunnel," "McHale's Navy and "The Red Skelton Show."

He was also a stuntman in such 1950s and '60s TV shows as "Cheyenne," "Surfside 6," "Hawaiian Eye," "The Roaring 20s" and "Stagecoach."

He was particularly fond of his Robot role, once saying he came to consider the suit a "home away from home."

He worked incredibly hard at the role, Lockhart said, wearing the suit for hours at a time and learning the lines of every actor in the show so he would know when to respond to their cues. Because it wasn't easy to get in and out of the suit, he kept it on during breaks.

"He was a smoker," Lockhart remembered. "From time to time (when he was on a break) we'd see smoke coming out of the robot. That always amused us."

May and his wife lost their house in November when a wildfire destroyed their upscale mobile home park in the San Fernando Valley's Sylmar section. It was one of 484 homes destroyed.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judith; his daughter; his son, Martin; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services are pending.

Shell.....my thoughts are with you as you go through this process. I do understand. It happened to me, although many years ago and at a much younger age. Hang in there.

Just wanted to say that I've got over my snit, and many thanks for everyone's kind words.  I apologize, having driven around for a while and played "Piece Of My Heart" at top volume, I now feel halfway human.

Fuzzy is partly right--the word "suicide" did jump right out at me, but, as always there is more to the story.

I am not comfortable with armchair diagnoses of mental disorders, or physical ones, for that matter. 

My husband left a note that he thought he had Parkinson's disease, and the principal at his school later told me she had advised him at the end of the school year to see a doctor, because she thought he might be diabetic.  He refused to see a doctor, so I don't know to this day what was the matter with him, except that he was in a bad place in his life.  He never had any diagnosis of anything, he just decided that he had an incurable disease, and that life was intolerable.

He shot himself the day he was supposed to start back teaching school.

I'm putting this here, because I don't want to start a pity party, especially in a new cage.

I admit that I can be overcome with emotion when the subject comes up.
In my case we discovered my previous husband had a congenital abnormality of the heart.It had gone undiagnosed all his life.Stress seem to aggrivate the situation.At one point he was told any kind of unexpected excitement or what ever could bring on chest pain and cardiac arrest.
He showed some signs of depression.Things progressed and in the end I was actually afraid of him because he became physically abusive to me.
After his suicide,I was cleaning one day and found all these old papers where he was referred to a psychologist before we met.I had no idea how bad it was and I was overcome with guilt.I couldn't talk about it for a long time.
I think reading all the things about others here helps me to see we are never alone.

Shell, this has been an emotional journey for you......I have few momentos of my young life and cherish them deeply..losing them would be like losing a part of who I am....I feel your loss...so please know your emotions are felt by many of us. I don't talk much about my life...I have a wonderful life and don't want to jinx it...but it was a very long time coming....getting closer to home is an amazing feeling.....and I am so proud to walk this with you.

Jane....I read, after the fact, all the posts.....thank you for speaking out...so many time things are said and I think....oh chit!  And it was an OH CHIT post for certain. Good friends our ours son committed suicide 4 years ago...it devastated our small community....no one knew anything was bothering him other than he has just graduated from HS and didn't have any direction for his life. He was so kind and gentle...he helped people in the neighborhood. He mowed for us, put up and took down our Christmas lights, he would come over and swim in our pool and play with my dogs.... We realized much later on that there were issues that no one knew about in total....it was pieced together from talking to fiends...a piece here and a piece there....suicide is devastating for those left behind....always thinking why didn't we know, what did we miss, what could we have said ...................so thank you for speaking out....I saw :smt056 an apology from fuzzball.....I hope you saw it......

Janetruth, I left a general post for all in the conversation this afternoon in the Caylee thread, but I don't think your response was out of line, with what you've endured.  I was so sad and shocked when I heard your story.  You'll be in my prayers.

I completely agree with you about amateur diagnoses, mental or otherwise.  I had an experience with it recently.  I was frantic because I had severe abdominal pain and was terrified of surgery, cancer, etc.  The doctors couldn't figure it out and ran tons of tests, but it was probably just a pulled or torn muscle.

Anyway, monkey hugs to you and I hope the whole topic didn't upset you too much.

Free upscale mascara, perfume and body lotion will be available in some Houston department stores on Tuesday in what is no doubt the sweetest smelling national class-action lawsuit settlement ever.

A 2003 California lawsuit filed against department stores and cosmetics manufacturers alleged the businesses conspired to keep prestige cosmetics prices high. The case settled and though no wrong doing was admitted, the result was a $175 million giveaway in which each eligible consumer gets one free piece of make up or fragrance worth from $18 to $25.

The stores in Houston that will set up a giveaway table near their cosmetics counters Tuesday morning are Macy’s, Dillard’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.

A person never knows sometimes what another person has in their mind. 
I was very sorry to hear about your husband. I know that it must be very difficult to deal with his death. From my family, I know that we carried on to the extreme for at least two years being angry at my cousin, angry at her mother, angry at her ex husband angry at his new wife and just plain angry at the entire world. I was even angry at the minister who conducted the funeral service.
Sometimes I have to let go and let God.
I don't think anyone was being unkind on purpose, but something struck a nerve with me also. I understood what you said at the time you made your post.

Thing is, I get to feeling sorry for myself.  I have two grown daughters, each of whom has one son.  I have a son in college.  I really have no other family living.

Jim and I had been married for seven years, after being friends for 15.  I had loved him without letting him know for eleven of those years.  Of course, he was the only one who didn't know.

I thought I knew him.  I thought life with him would be my reward for a lifetime of loneliness, in or out of marriage.  I thought there was nothing that we couldn't get through together.

It has been 17 months since it happened, and I am no closer to understanding it than I was the next day.  I've just got used to sleeping without him next to me.  Sometimes I tell myself that there are things I will never understand.  Black holes.  Internal combustion engines.  My husband's suicide.  At other times, I just rage.

Seems this is a class action suit of some sort.  Those eligible for free products had to have purchased products made by the listed designers/companies within the timeframe stated. 

I had cosigned on one of my son's previous cars years ago.  I had to in order for him to remain on our policy (while he was still in school to save him some money).  Well, about a year ago or longer, we both received a class action notice against Honda service repair centers.  I filled it out and sent it back.  Son neglected his.  I think it said we could get up to $100 rebate due to fraudulent business practices.  I eventually received a check for about $35....  ::MonkeyHaHa::

Have you scanned the photos you have and put the disk in a safety dep box? Make copies of the disk and give to other family members. ---

Ever since our fire in 2003, I’ve been obsessed with scanning everything. I’ve started scanning samples of my kids school work, pictures people give me, any bills or statements that can’t be retrieved online (although that is significantly less than a couple of years ago) and receipts. Yes, receipts.

I think before the fire you would’ve thought this was insane (and maybe some of you still do) but as soon as I got fed up with paper (about 2006) I started scanning every receipt I got. For two years I’ve been scanning everything on my flatbed scanner, but this past year I got busy and I have an entire years worth of receipts piled up on my desk just begging to be scanned. I dreaded the thought.

It was then that I decided to break down and buy a receipt scanning system from Neat Co. It’s a tiny little scanner (about 10.5x1.5x1.25) that is powered solely by a USB cable (a selling point on it’s own if you want to scan on the road). It comes with it’s own custom software called NeatReceipts. It “reads” the receipt and enters the information in a proprietary database that allows you to organize your receipts very nicely. The OCR software isn’t 100% perfect, but it’s close enough. I sat down, installed it and did almost ½ of my pile in just one evening.

By the way, the IRS has allowed the use of digital records (including scanned receipts) since 1997 and Rev. Proc. 97-22 (see page 9, column 2 of the linked document).

One thing that is starting to make me a little upset is the sales tax category. It automatically reads how much sales tax is on each receipt and puts the amount in it’s own category. I’m not upset at the software, but the amount of money I’m spending on sales tax (and sales tax on gas is not called out on the receipt)!!! It’s disturbing, but it might also be helpful when you go to take the sales tax deduction on your taxes.

Something like this might also be very helpful when tracking things like a large insurance claim. For example, if you’re tracking all of your replacement items to get the depreciation holdback, this software allows for you to organize your receipts, total them and print them back out. It even squeezes more than one receipt per page if the receipts are small enough to do so. If you can print to PDF from your computer you can print and email them to your adjuster or tax preparer.

Although there are a few quirky things about this scanner, all in all I think it’s another great way to keep organized.

Shell? Honest, you have been in my prayers for a long time, and my heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry you've had this to go through!!! I'm glad your house is getting started, but I know it won't replace the things near to your heart.

The thing is, we could have not gotten out of the house. Our phone in the bedroom was not working so if had I been sound asleep, I can tell you it is unlikely I would have heard the phone. My husband was sawing logs about that time and he certainly would not have been awakened.  They have started doing a reverse 911 calling but I had no knowledge of it until I got the 911 call telling us to prepare to evacuate. We did not even know a 2nd fire had started! (The first one was really far away from us) Shortly after that call, we got the 2nd call saying "Get out of your house NOW". I threw a couple pair of jeans and tops in a suitcase, a pair of flip flops and sandals, pj's and a robe (as if they would have sleeping arangements and showers at the exacuation center)  ::MonkeyHaHa::  The wind that night was about 80 mph. Grabbed my medications and dogs, didn't even grab a sweater, blanket or coat. Recipes can be replaced. The handwritten ones of my Mom, Sister and Grandmom's can't be replaced. Lives can't be replaced, so in the end, God was good to us. In many, many ways.

Thanks Nut, things are looking up. It is  a difficult thing to experience at any age. I just realized the other day that I am never without shoes or something on my feet and before the fire I went barefoot around the house. Sunny,  I am pleased and proud to have you and others here walking with me. I haven't wanted to talk much about the details of the fire, I was too angry. I have turned a corner. Who would think such a thing as leveling the ground and digging of trenches would be such a delightful site. When we are standing on the soil of our site, it is the most comforting feeling. I suppose the site is a burial ground of sorts. I have grieved and mourned and it is time to move on.

You inspire me, Shell. I believe you will emerge from all this stronger, as a matter of fact, I think you've already begun!  ::MonkeyWink::

Muffy, I do realize there are far worse things that could happen to a person. The postings the past few days have been heartbreaking. 

Aw shucks, thanks. I still on occasion have my snippy, throw me a pity party days.  ::MonkeyTongue:: One of the support groups has solicited people who feel they can help the latest groups who have had fires. I can't bring myself to go that far, it is too soon for me. However, a good number of people from the 07 fires have offered their help. Oh, this is another neat thing. One of the families (from 07 fires) has some elderly neighbors who was in serious need of some of the basics of life. The word got out among our support group, and a lot of us pitched in and have either donated items or money to help out this couple. So many of us received kindness from strangers, and it feels good to give back. These are the types of things that have risen from the ashes.

I was at Nordstrom today. The line was reallyyyyyyyyy long. There was one table with what looked like a variety of products, but not much of a variety. Some of the other stores probably had a different selection, and Nordstrom might have out a different assortment tomorrow, but no way would I stand in that line, unless I knew a particular day when they would have the Chanel available.   ::MonkeyTongue::

Sadly, I have to admit we do not have a working scanner at the moment, and are wishing for a new computer, as well.  We only have some pictures on CD, and I am always in a quandary with respect to what paper receipts and statements to keep.  What to save, shred or throw away piles up on a weekly basis.  In fact, I have been in a purge mode for several months and am seeing no light in the tunnel, as yet.  It's overwhelming what we've accumulated in 30 + years.  The software sounds like something we should add to our wish list.

Your advice is excellent and I will make an effort to incorporate it in my attempt to organize.  In fact, two friends of mine many years ago were single and living in their own apartments.  One had been robbed and was devastated at the loss of sentimental items.  The other had the sense to do exactly what MiffyBee has done in her home, and logged/documented what she owned, took photos of valuables and stored them in a safe deposit box.  I had started to follow her actions by taking some photos way back then, but life and raising our sons took the front seat and that project went to the procrastination file. 

I have not spoken to SIL, lately, so I cannot give an update on their rebuild.  It's been since Sept. '07, but I do know that despite contractor problems, they are getting there.

how do you find out if your computer has a virus.....tia

Viruses and trojan horses??  My computer got infected 2 week ago....it started but just running slow...then I was getting knocked off...then I had trouble signing on.....we ran all the virus scans we had.....but still couldn't get rid of the trojan horses..we thought they were gone...but wham there they were again...files became corrupt..it has been mess. We were using IE....but have now changed to Firefox exclusively...still not running great....I am able to get on but everything is in slow motion.....my DH has been working on it....got a new Fix-It CD to try tonight....we have McAfee and a firewall but it still got infected....DANG!!......ANY IDEAS!!!  (I am also going to post this in the computer help thread)

You should have a virus program installed on your computer.  Norton & McAfee are two you can purchase.  There are also downloadable virus and anti-spyware programs at http://www.download.com/windows/ 

Most programs can be scheduled to run automatically, and can be run manually, especially when you suspect a problem.  If the virus definitions are up to date, when the program runs it will detect any virus and quarantine them.

Call Microsoft!!  They will get it out for free.  I posted their number in one of my old all posts!!  I will see if I can find it.

Sad to say, yet if you guys have done all you can to fix the virus and trojan horses, and your comp still runs slow... seems the only thing that has fixed mine in the past when that has happened is to reformat.  Some of those trojan horses are made to reappear after a period of time.  No way to fully be sure it's all gone except to wipe everything away by reformatting.  (http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq117/Wyks_/Smilies/smiley-gahh.gif)

Chat and Grumble has become the biggest hypocritical forum of the internet!!   Everything they professed to be is a joke.  Many members were "poofed" for no reason and Mrskub refuses to give a reason why!!  The lack of integrity, honesty and courage over there is overwhelming!!

Klaas was so right about private forums and their hidey holes!!  "Sensitive information"  on the internet is oxymoron in itself!! 

Chat and Grumble has become the one of the best PR's for SM!!  Made many of us realize the "mistruths" that can easily spread and believed by some naive or just ignorant people.  But the truth always surfaces and it didn't take long in this case!!

Warning to all CnG members - Be careful what you read and believe there!!  Pay attention to what has been happening!  All in Oz is not what is claims to be!! 

Now I know a certain CnG member will be copy and posting this to their "Look what was posted at SM" thread like a chidish school girl filled with hate and jealousy - I would like to say this to you - May God Bless YOU!!!  Does hypocrisy have no boundaries!!

My understanding is that The Cage was not being upheld by any stretch of the imagination.

Wow!  Sound like what is going on at this CnG place is just like what has gone on with all the Stacy Peterson forums!  I couldn't believe that so many on the net had nothing to do all day but bitch and moan about other posters on different forums.  One even had what they called the super sekrit thread, accessed by password only.  Little did they realize that everyone could read what they wrote in there about everyone else incl other forums, in their 'latest post' thread.  ahahaha!  All the infighting and outfighting made several forums crash and burn, and all of it became known as "The forum wars of 2008".  Probably still going on but I'd had my fill of it and got the heck outta dodge! 

Wyks - yes, we saw it all back in 2005 with the NH case and STILL with the NH case.  That is the reason we don't allow members to edit their own posts and we don't have PM's.  We also don't have any private areas of SM.  Everything on SM is open for all to read.  (unless you have a full ban)

Some unhappy or banned monkeys got together and started a new forum.  The rallied to get new members with false promises and a bunch of lies!! 

In all honesty, I think we just ponds in a dirty game of chess.  Janet, SM was my first forum I ever joined and I just got sucked into some of the propaganda!  Boy, I was dumb!!  LOL

I can only speak for myself, but I think for the most part it wasn't an issue of leaving the cage to go there instead.  It was a place in which to post in addition to SM.  I had fun cheering on the group who was quitting smoking, and had a few great laughs in chat and on a few of the threads.  It was fun while it lasted, and that's all she wrote.

Flossy - I agree.  I believe most of the members went there because they were invited and wanted to check it out, not because they were unhappy here.
