Okay, I have been trying to figure out all of the ways Baez could go with KC's defense, and none of the choices are good.

He cannot go with the Nanny did it, because that would mean putting KC on the stand, and he wouldn't dare do that.

He cannot go with the insanity defense, because that would require KC to admit the deed, which she will not do no matter what.

He cannot go with a family member did it, because there is absolutely no evidence pointing that way.

His only hope is to go with <take your pick> Jesse, Amy, meter reader, etc.  But I am not sure any sane juror will be able to go there.

So what do the rest of the monkeys think?  Anything else possible?

He has NO defense other than trying to attack the evidence & all the witnesses, frankly it will be coined the "spagetti trial" throw anything at the wall and hope it sticks  ::MonkeyLaugh:: - he will try to recreate the OJ trial with "tainted evidence" and "police misconduct"   thats just not gonna fly, no way Jose!  OK now Im really outta here for a bit

Steel, how about none of the above.  Just working really hard to make the other side prove withhout a doubt that she did do it. 

If I am Judge Strickland, I would take Baez in the back room, slap him upside the ear a few times, and tell him that he is doing a piss poor job with and incredibly bad situation, and that he either needs to get the hell out of the way, or cop a plea.  Strickland just knows that no mater how hard he is going to try and keep this thing together, as long as Baez is involved, there will be grounds for an incompetent counsel mistrial down the road.

I have been driving my self nuts trying to figure out the defense, I'm going with the abuse angle/mental defect, but I could change my mind tomorrow.

But obviously, the Judge cant strike him (ha ha) or even speak to him in closed quarters, right????

If it wasn't for the high profile defense, my biggest fear would be Baez messing the case up so bad from lack of experience, reason for appeal or mistrial.

NRCG - do you think that KC could admit she killed Caylee if it meant she could use the abuse/mental defect angle?  Even then, it would be a long shot to get her off on that.

I am going with the "BUT GEORGE" defense. By his own admission he was the last to see Caylee. KC can say they threw her out of the house the night before and would not let her take Caylee. Then "something" happened to Caylee after Cindy left the next day and she had no idea until she "found" Caylee dead in her trunk where George put her. (he had keys).  She was out partying because she "thought" her parents were taking care of Caylee and had no idea she was dead until she found her in the trunk.

That was why all the calls to them and they would not answer. She freaked out and that is why she has been so "freaky" acting ever since.  She buried her where she put all her beloved pets because she did not know what else to do.

George told her he would kill her and the whole family if she told anyone. (Evidence, he bought a gun and the police took it from him)

She will tell not only George, but Lee both molested her and Caylee is a result of one of them and she has been partially insane since.

That is what I believe the defense will be and I believe George KNOWS it now, and that is why he took off. I don't believe for a minute he tried to commit suicide, but that was some type of ploy to get away from Cindy and work with LE.

I am not saying it is anywhere close to the truth, but it is the ONLY chance she has that I can see. The scary thing is with George having always been the "scapegoat" of the family, the others (Cindy & Lee) may help her set that up. They have lied so much, what would a few more lies matter if it got KC off? 

Think about it, maybe even Cindy tried to talk George into going along with it and he freaked out.  There is something up, because Cindy is way too quite.  That is why I believe they wanted immunity.

Let me tell you, the best night I have had during this case was on Murt's site. I was giving someone who said she was Cindy a piece and a half of my mind. I did not care is she really was Cindy, but I totally unloaded both barrels. Come to find out, it had been Cindy. Wow, I was not nice to that woman but spoke my mind. That was a good nite.

I don't think there is any defense they can think up is going to work. IMO LE and FBI have enough to fry her without anyones testimony.

Island Monkey, yes he did fake a suicide attempt and that was my last night on his site. The guy is a fraud and scam. I totally drank his Kool-Aid and enjoyed driving around to the different locations in this case. But now I know more about him and am embarassed that I bought into that crap.

How did you find out it was really Cindy.   I can't imagine her having anything to do with him.

Everyone says Baez is a lousy lawyer, and he does not appear to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he does not have much to go with in this case.  Casey's own words have made her almost impossible to defend.  How can he say someone else did it, when she herself identified Zanny the Nanny as the culprit?  He would have to say, "Don't believe my lying client when she said Zanny did it." 

I think his best bet is to say that Cindy drove Casey to kill Caylee after pyschological abuse and threats to take the child away as well as attempts to cut Casey off from all her friends by telling them Casey was a sociopath and a chronic liar.  Cindy is not at all likeable and is very controlling.  Several people would testify that Cindy talked trash about Casey, that Cindy competed with Casey for the affection of Caylee, that Cindy put Casey down in private and in public, that Cindy tried to control every aspect of Casey's life, including forcing her to have a baby that Casey wanted to put up for adoption.  I think he might be able to convince a jury that Cindy literally made Casey feel like dirt, like a failure and a terrible mother.  Of course, Casey would have to cooperate with that.

Jesse Grund, Amy, co-workers, etc. would testify that Cindy said some terrible things to and about Casey and that Cindy wanted to take Caylee and raise her. 

I don't see anything else that would work, unless there has been abuse of Casey by the men in the house, which she claimed at one point, and he could use that in some way to defend her.  Again, that would take Casey admitting to the crime and claiming the abuse excuse, which so far, she has not done.

That same nut was there when i was there - she is either Joy or just as stupid!  ::MonkeyNoNo::

I haven't been there in awhile either.  I had trouble with the new site too.  I am in shock he would do that though.   I feel sorry for him.  He lost a son, then his wife and seems very lonely.   Obvisously has some issues.  However, I did enjoy the rides with him.  Thanks for the info!

Yup, I totally enjoyed the rides. However, Murt is in this for the money. He has been scamming many (mostly older) women. You need to pay to get into his chat. I am totally embarassed that I was almost scammed by Murt because I am always wary of these things. The way he and Lois used Dakota on the internet was so wrong. Good post Hudson---I don't think the above strategy would do anything but put some mercy in the jury and not give her dp...if the prosecution decides to go with the dp instead of lwop. My goodness, loads of people have controlling Mom's and just plain bad Mom's, and there are many abuse victims in society, but they rarely go killing their innocent babies.

There are many people in prison and going on trial who are represented by varying degrees of capabilities. He has his credentials. I hate to think she could benefit from his mistakes. If that were so, think of all the prisoners who would be screaming mistrial.

Today I purchased some Mucinex-D today for a really bad cold that I've had for, like, three weeks.

Suddenly, an important theory about Casey occurred to me as I was handing the cashier my driver's license.

When you purchase products with pseudoephedrine in them, like I did today, you need to present your driver's license and sign a form. The government monitors purchases of products with pseudoephedrine in them because of their propensity to be used to make methamphetamine. See below from the FDA:

Legal Requirements for the Sale and Purchase of Drug Products Containing Pseudoephedrine, Ephedrine, and Phenylpropanolamine

The Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005 has been incorporated into the Patriot Act signed by President Bush on March 9, 2006. The act bans over-the-counter sales of cold medicines that contain the ingredient pseudoephedrine, which is commonly used to make methamphetamine. The sale of cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine is limited to behind the counter. The amount of pseudoephedrine that an individual can purchase each month is limited and individuals are required to present photo identification to purchase products containing pseudoephedrine. In addition, stores are required to keep personal information about purchasers for at least two years.

Okay, so my theory is this: I still think Casey had a meth habit. Her drug test results have not been revealed, so I am not positive, but her irresponsible behavior with Caylee, overall strange demeanor, obsession with products that can be used to make meth (gasoline, chloroform, etc), and her purchases of pseudoephedrine-containing cough medicines with Amy's checks make me think that she did. She reminds me of the meth addicts I have seen on the show "Intervention" (since I personally do not know any meth addicts...).

Now, you can't keep purchasing pseudoephedrine products without giving your ID. And, eventually, you will reach your quota if you're purchasing them for reasons other than a cold! We know Casey had left her car at the Amscot lot with her ID in it around 6/27 and purchased cough products with pseudephedrine in them AFTER that. What IDs was she using? I really believe she had some fake IDs. And I believe that Blink34 was on to something with the theory that she might have had a "Zenaida Gonzalez" ID that she used.

I know plenty of "glass heads" (aka meth) and they all have the same appearance: Really, REALLY skinny and her face would have sunken cheecks... I think the meth angle is an interesting one, but don't those on it develop facial sores and  problems with their teeth?  (I'm remembering Kristin Rossum here, if any of you followed that case.)  KC's complexion has always looked pretty good to me, and she had no issues flashing her big teeth all over the place.  But maybe she was fairly new to it.

I believe she just got into it early in 07 and it takes a while for there to be any signs if someone is healthy when they start. I have seen some who looked really good for about 3 years and she is young, so it would be a slow progression.  She was very skinny and she did sleep for 3 days the first time she was arrested. There is some reason those drug tests have not been released.

Her teeth would not show it because she had all caps or covers according to Cindy. If you look at some of her pictures up close, she did have some skin lesions at times.

Oh, brother! The Cindy-Geraldo interview is a "RE-AIR." Talk about bait-and-switch.

Murt was having his site and all of his accounts hacked.  He reported it to LE.  Supposedly he had an FBI agent with him at his house to watch and listen in to phone calls from the hacker. The hacker called Murt while the agent was there.  The hacker was trying to get Murt to commit suicide over all his problems.  Murt told the agent he was going to fake a suicide with the hacker to try to flush the hacker out.  The problem was, Murt's sound wasn't muted so everyone heard him say the part about the suicide.  People took it seriously and started calling Murt's phone.  When he didn't answer, they called the police and the police came out.  It became a debacle.  IMO It became a much bigger debacle than it should have because people called Murt nuts. Caring people wanted to make sure Murt was okay and called police.  Everything was okay...just trying to catch the hacker.  Murt's problem was that his sound wasn't muted.  He's sure paid for that little error.  I've never heard further if the hacker has been caught yet or not.  Anyone know?

There were some text messages between Casey and Amy about a cold that Caylee had, I think in March or April. Maybe there were some kiddy cough stuff issued or she was told what to get, OTC. It does make them drowsy. I know that from when GD had colds.
Some of that stuff was taken off the market because parents were giving too much at once.

Interesting question Steel and Monkeys have all had interesting theories today.  I personally think they are going to attack the evidence and are hoping for a lesser charge.  In the People article, there was a quote from the defense that said something to the effect that there was no trauma to the bones which negates a murder 1 charge -- I cannot recall exactly what was said but I thought when I read it that they are going for a lesser charge.

I don't think the bones showing trauma or not would matter because they never knew how Lacy Peterson and son died but Scott is on death row. I think there is alot more evidence in this case than what they had on for that one which was mainly the bodies being found and a hair of Lacy's in the boat which I don't think had decomp..just a shedded hair which was normal since family boat. I haven't read the People article but even though it is a popular magazine with good stories in it I am not sure how on target it would be with info. I know Baden said they got their info from the mag on the duct tape but that was bull since defense requested discovery and media can then put it out there. I think people on this forum had that info within minutes so defense puts bull out there and wouldn't surprise me if they made such a statement.

If you watch the Lee video with Casey in jail he is leary of JB. He asks her all kinds of questions and I don't think he or George really trust JB with their comments. I find these videos alot more interesting now that Caylee is found and we have seen the behavior over time of these "players". Also Lee's voice is way too young to be TB.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The man who discovered the remains of Caylee Anthony will start a new job on Monday.

Roy Kronk is no longer a meter reader. He's moving into a position with Orange County's Inventory Control Department.

"There's no place to run. There's no place to hide. They're very vulnerable," attorney David Evans said.

Evans fears his client could get hurt on the job, so Kronk will take on a new role away from the public and the meters.

"I'm not aware of anyone getting in his face ... It may happen at any time, so he's alert to that," Evans said.

Since Kronk discovered Caylee's remains, he's been easily recognizable on the job and fearful that someone may hurt time while he's working with his guard down.

Kronk denied he had anything to do with the toddler's disappearance.

"I respectfully deny to get into the details of what I saw," Kronk said.

I watch some of Joy's chat last night... I bopped in this morning (she's gone to doctor w/son now) and Joy was saying that her children were threatened last night...something about putting them in a bag like Caylee (sick)...anyway, she has their IP and has contacted LE who is looking for them (her words).

I didn't see any of that while I was on her chat last night (I was only on for a little while).

Did anyone else see anything like what she's talking about this morning?  The only thing that was odd to me was that she kept asking a particular poster for their first name....

I know many monkeys don't care for LP but IMOO...I think NG would have dropped this story (full time) long ago if LP wasn't on it...that being said, I hope Punxsutawney Phil's prediction is correct and LP will still be around..so Caylee's story will remain in the headlines.

I went to read there also, and I hope it was not a sm that said those things.... this joy sounds like a young woman with little education, more babies than she needs, and no more to living life than her chat room.  Sort of pathetic.  I do not understand why folks stay places with those negative energies always flying around.

Motel Guests Want George Anthony's Room

DAYTONA BEACH -- The motel where George Anthony was found last week is now turning into a bit of a tourist attraction.
It has gotten national attention in the latest issue of People magazine.
As News 13's Saul Saenz found out, some people are calling the motel, or simply showing up, wanting to stay in the same room.
The issue of People magazine hitting stores on Friday has a picture of the Hawaii Motel, where Anthony stayed in room 106 on Feb. 23, trying to find some time alone to sort out his thoughts. While he was there, Daytona Beach police said he sent text messages to his family saying he didn't want to live. It was also reported that he may have started a suicide note.
He was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center where he remains on psychological evaluation under the Baker Act.

Good Morning swingers!

I was in that nutjobs chat for a good bit last nite and I saw absolutely NO threat to her or her children but she did say that Cindy and Lee were at the superbowl and then went into a diatribe about a "sara lie" I screencapped it.   There was another poster in there claiming that a threat was made and while a few were in there, it was NOT part of the convo at all so I have absolutely no flippin idea what she is talking about - she likes throwing people's names around and actually gave a threat of her own that she is not someone to be messed with (yea okay).   She also made a statement that Michelle Bart was nasty because she picked on "her Dennis" (Dennis Miller/cowboy dude seen in MN office with TM) & at JBP with her yelling & making a scene when Lenny had the divers searching there.  She was asked a few pertinent questions, she didnt answer a one of them with the exception of an immature icon response or an order to go back to our cage  ::MonkeyLaugh::    She kept inserting Lenny into her conversation & said she talked to him, I'll know because at some point I'll be checking in with him so I'll ask what contact he's had with her if any - all I do know for a fact about "JW" is that she showed up at JBP with that cowbody dude yelling at him & waving her "Caylee is alive" sign and spending time on her knees, reportedly praying when low and behold who showed up right behind her but Milstead of KFN and the Anthonys getting in Lenny & Rob's faces & picking a fight with a media cameraman that was unwarranted, Cindy also called Kathy Belich of WFTV a B on her way out after George tore a sign off Murt's truck claiming he didnt give it to Lois (they are a sidebar issue & Im not gonna waste time commenting on that).  Rayray was also at the Michelle Bart/KFN Meet & Greet in November with the Anthonys (and a few random stragglers) while Dominic Casey was digging & probing in the Suburban woods as well as being seen at the recovery crime scene after the discovery was made every day, reported by Phil Keaton she offered pictures to investigators trying to claim that Tim Miller was "mistaken" that in August those woods were flooded.   She later claimed to have gone with Brad Conway to pick up those toys left as a memorial on public property at the edge of Suburban & bringing food to the Anthonys.

I'm telling ya is it any wonder why the Anthonys are not getting decent support when all they do have is a bunch of nutjobs and lowend criminals supporting them....when sheep flock together, right?  YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!

Yeah, Melinda did it, it's kinda of the kiss of death imo.  I mean what else could it be...we have to remember she was sneaking around and basically living in her car and she appeared to me to be a junkie person w/car.  I mean look at all the trash they found in it w/ little evidence of caylee, I mean toddler to me implies atleast a change of clothes, wipes, and possible diapers as caylee was not potty trained to the best of my knowledge.  they only found child seat, doll in car?

I just read the previous pages.  NO WAY a real SM would have done that.  Sounds like someone who has either been banished from here, or never could get in to begin with, or maybe a competition forum.  That's horrible !

That's right & she told her Mom the nanny had everything Caylee needed! I'm sure she was sneaking back in the house while the A's were gone getting stuff, but Caylee had to have had more than what was found in the car! And all we ever heard what was at Tony's was Casey's. I hope LE found whatever she threw away, It'll be another nail in her coffin!  ::MonkeyNoNo::

Monken, we can pray, right?  I so hope LE has all their duckies in a row for this girl.  Another thing I would like to suggest is Casey's laptop left at Tony's, Tony commented that Casey was on this laptop the previous nite or that nite sitting on the sofa typing away while he and the friend were watching some sports game and than Lee comes over to gather her junk and poof the laptop does not work until LE has computer forensics fix it.  I bet you this is what LE is talking about when they say LEE knows what he's done.  He tryed to screw up the computer as a just in case maybe, JMO and or thoughts.
