Family Asks for Help as Police Call Off Search for Missing California Teen

The family of Amber LeeAnne DuBois said the teen was last seen shortly after 7 a.m. Friday while walking to Escondido High School.

Investigators have learned that DuBois talked to a friend on her cell phone on her way to class that morning, San Diego radio station KFMB reported.

Witnesses claimed to have spotted her in downtown Escondido Saturday and Sunday nights.

The teen's father, Maurice DuBois, said reports of a possible sighting of his daughter Saturday were considered unreliable. He said his daughter is very structured — not the type of girl to disappear on her own.

Police have decided to wait to get better leads before resuming the search, KFMB reported.

Meanwhile, family members have set up a Web site with pictures and contact information for the missing girl, and are pushing for the search to go nationwide.

I think the sightings are unreliabe and this young lady is being held against her will or the worst has happened. This is very upsetting especially being close to home. They did a door to door search in the area she was supposedly seen (2 sightings). She does not seem like the kind of girl to just leave her parents.

Weekend Search Parties for Missing Escondido Teen

ESCONDIDO - It's been one week since 14-year-old Amber LeeAnne Dubois disappeared on her way to Escondido High School last Friday around 7 AM.

All weekend long the family will be leading search parties, and are asking the public to join.

Search groups of six will meet and head out from the corner of Vista Ave. and Broadway in Escondido. Groups will begin gathering at 6 AM and finish up their searches at dusk. Groups will go out on a rotating basis, so you are encouraged to come at any time.

To participate you must be 18, bring a government issued ID, not be convicted of any felony, and wearing rugged clothing. Volunteer crews will head into rural areas of local mountains--to spots where police have not searched yet.

Friday night, hundreds of people came out for a candlelight vigil in Amber's honor at Escondido High School.

Family members say their resolve is strengthened by the community's outpouring of support.

Maurice Dubois, Amber's father, said the flames were symbolic. "Hope, little sparks of hope all over the place...Hopefully these lights will guide her home."

Amber's mother, Carrie McGonigle, found the night reassuring. "After a week, its hard to stay positive, but I see these people and all their love. She's got to come home, she's just got to be found!"

McGonigle does not believe reports to police that Amber was seen in Downtown Escondido last weekend. "She wouldn't be that close to home and not come home. I don't believe that!"

Amber's best friend, Jade Fidel, thinks the rumors at school that Amber is a run away are totally wrong. "People are making up stories because they can't cope with what's going on."

Jade hoped Amber could get a message from the candlelight vigil's flames. "To me, when I look at fire, it really makes me think calm...I really want that to be sent out to Amber, calm down, get your head together and come find us."

The FBI also is getting involved in Amber's search.

Escondido Police is treating the case as a possible abduction but is not ruling out the possibility she ran away.

Amber's family has maintained that running away is "completely out of character" for the teen. They said she is a good student who was excited about starting a school project that involved a lamb the Friday she disappeared.

The family has hired private detective Bill Garcia, who has been involved in a number of high-profile cases in the county.

Family, Friends, Strangers Search for Missing Teen

An estimated 300 volunteers showed up to help in the search for a missing Escondido girl Saturday, private investigator Bill Garcia said.  The 14-year-old went missing on Friday February 13.  She was last seen walking to Escondido High School.
 
Areas being searched include:

El Norte Parkway
Interstate-15 east to Lake Wohlford
North to Palomar Mountain
West along state Route 76 to Riverside County

Mary Schmit and Raquel Suitts helped scour the Lake Wohlford area.  They don't know Amber, but said the community needs to come together and find this young girl.

The mother of Brittany Hart is also showing her support to the family.
 
"I just want to give the parents my moral support because I know what they're going through," said Karen Hart.
 
Her 24-year-old daughter Brittany went missing in 2007.  Brittany was murdered and her body was found in a rural area of East County.   The man accused of killing her is heading to trial for the murder.

Meantime, more than 200 people came out in support of the family Friday evening.  People held candles outside the school in hopes Amber would be brought safely home.

"Basically, it kind of hits home because I know how I'd feel if I'd lost a child," said Escondido resident Amy Clark.
 
"It's not just the county, the word is spreading across the country and everyone is praying for her and her family," said family friend Joe Peters.
 
Amber's parents are grateful for the large turnout and support they've gotten since Amber disappeared.
 
"A lot of people loved Amber and they still do, they want her home," said her mother Carrie McGonigle.  Carrie says she last saw her daughter before she headed to school.  "Someone has her, she's not just hiding from me or hiding from the house, someone has her".
 
The possibility of abduction scares everyone, especially parents.
 
"My mom doesn't even let me walk around the streets anymore, she's afraid it'll happen to me," said Amber's friend Taylor Doyle.
 
Amber's father believes his daughter is still alive and he vows to never stop searching for her.
 
"I sleep an hour or two a night, and last night I don't even know if I got that," said Maurice Dubois.
 
If, by chance, Amber did runaway, Carrie McGonigle has this message for her daughter.
 
"Just come home, you won't be in trouble, just come home," McGonigle said.
 
The family is offering a $500 dollar reward for any information about her whereabouts.   Her father says the reward money will go up as more donations come in.

This girl has a 45 yr. old 'buddy'???? This would probably be on page 1 of the 'Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm' book! I find it rather coincidental that she disappeared the day before Valentine's and has a 45 year old buddy, these two appear to be linked.Time to check the kids' computer....

Hundreds Search Rugged Terrain for Missing California Girl

The family of a missing 14-year old California girl launched an all-out search Sunday morning that extended into the local mountains.

Hundreds of volunteers combed through rugged terrain in search for Amber LeeAnne DuBois, television news station San Diego 6 reported. DuBois was reportedly last seen shortly after 7 a.m. on Feb. 13 while walking to her high school in Escondido, Calif.

The FBI is “providing investigative assistance” to Escondido police, an agency spokesman told the San Diego Union Tribune on Saturday.

Investigators said Amber — who was last seen wearing black clothing and a backpack — talked to a friend on her cell phone as she walked to class that morning. She has not been seen or heard from since, police said.

The teen's father, Maurice DuBois, said reports of a possible sighting of his daughter Saturday were considered unreliable. He said Amber is very structured, and not the type of girl to run away.

The family is hoping that the Tour of California bicycle race — which is expected to draw thousands of spectators to Escondido on Sunday — will heighten public awareness and help in finding Amber.

FBI Investigators continued to search for Amber Leeanne Dubois, 14, who has been missing since last Friday, February 13th.

Her father, Maurice Dubois suspects that she has been abducted. The family has made clear that it does not believe Amber ran away.

The family hired a private detective, Bill Garcia, who has been involved in a number of high-profile missing cases in the county.

"We don't believe suicide, we don't believe that runaway was an issue," Garcia said. "None of her things were missing. The little cash money that she has remains."

Garcia said that he believes Amber was abducted by a stranger, meaning that she could be anywhere.

The FBI joined the investigation this week.

Forget that it was the day BEFORE Valentines.....It was FRIDAY the 13th !
Something tells me that she was abducted and did not go on her own.  She was into agriculture/farming, and not the typical student.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it may be nothing.

 For example.  I have a son in  college, before he left he made me a myspace and a facebook page so that I could keep in contact with him.
I am now into my 2nd year of this myspace and facebook stuff, I find that I am on many of my son's friends pages.

 I use facebook way more than myspace.

 And I don't find it unusual  anymore to see adults on kids friends lists.  most of them are parents or relatives.  
Remember, you cant just add yourself as a buddy on someones page, you have to request it and then the person has to accept it.

I agree it is not unusual for parents, family friends and relatives to be on each others facebook. My childrens friends are adults now as are my nieces and nephews and it is a great way to get to keep in contact with them, hear their news and see current pictures of their families.

Teen vanishes on way to school

(CNN) -- Last Friday the 13th was supposed to be a special day for 14-year-old Amber Leeanne DuBois.


She left her home in Escondido, California, around 7 a.m. for school with a check in hand, a down payment on a baby lamb that she was going to raise and care for as part of her Future Farmers of America class.

It was a day that she'd been looking forward to for more than a year, her family says. But she never made it to school and hasn't been heard from since, prompting authorities to launch a massive search for the missing teen.

"She would not have given up that lamb for anything," her mother, Carrie McGonigle, said. "She's a wholesome kid. She doesn't run amok like most teenagers. She did not run away, I guarantee it."

Her cell phone was turned on once for about 20 seconds the day after she disappeared and has not been turned on since then, Escondido Police spokesman Lt. Bob Benton said.

Her mother and her live-in boyfriend voluntarily submitted to polygraph tests and passed, Benton said. Amber's father, who lives in Orange County, California, and other relatives have been interviewed, he added.

A classmate reported seeing Amber a week ago on Sunday, walking with an unidentified person about half a mile from her home, Benton said.

"We don't know the circumstances of her disappearance or the person she was walking with, but being 14 years old and missing as long as she has without ever having gone missing before is very suspicious," Benton said.

The FBI is assisting the Escondido Police in the investigation, said Special Agent Darrell Foxworth from the agency's San Diego office.

"The assistance that we are providing includes conducting interviews and following up on leads as they develop," Foxworth said.

Amber's parents insist she would never stay away from home for so long without notifying them, leading them to believe she was abducted.

"As a person who knows my daughter very, very well, I'm 95 percent positive she's not just wandering around the area," said her father, Maurice DuBois. "If she was abducted by stranger -- hopefully not -- she could be anywhere in the U.S, Mexico by now. Eight days is a long time to be missing."

Amber's parents say she was a not-so-typical teen who shunned social networking sites like MySpace.com and Facebook and preferred reading, drawing and spending time with friends at home over hanging out at the mall.

"When she'd get in trouble, I'd have to take her books away," McGonigle said, chuckling as she recalled her daughter's habit of hiding under her bed sheets with a flashlight so she could read late at night.

Her first passion was animals, a lifelong devotion that began with her first horse, Rojo, and led to her joining the FFA when she entered high school.

Two weeks before she disappeared, she wrote her mother a letter urging her to let her buy the lamb she planned to name Nannette, outlining how she would care for it and suggesting it would look good on her resume, McGonigle said.

"I know in my heart that there's nothing that would take her away from that lamb. She would never miss that day. That's how I know she didn't just run away," McGonigle said.

"I go to sleep thinking she's going to be walking in my room any minute saying, 'Mom, I'm back.' But now it's just becoming a numb feeling."

Members of the community of Escondido, a bedroom community of San Diego, have been generous with donations of money, resources and manpower in the efforts to locate Amber, her mother said.

A candlelight vigil at Escondido High School on Friday night drew about 200 people, Amber's friend Hailey Kosinski said, in a show of support that brought a measure of comfort to her family and friends.

Hailey, who has known Amber since the sixth grade, said she could always count on her to brighten her day when she was feeling down.

"She smiles and tells you everything's going to be OK and you just feel better," she said. "She's sort of shy when you first meet her, but once you get to know her, she's the kindest person you'll ever meet."

The 14-year-old described her friend's disappearance as a rude awakening to the dangers of ordinary life.

"It makes you think of the many, many situations that could occur when you're walking on the street, or when you walk away from friends for just a little while," said Hailey, who has spent most of her free time in the past week posting fliers on traffic poles and in stores.

"It's the most horrible, gut-wrenching feeling to know your friend is out there and there's nothing you can do to help her. You feel so powerless."

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Missing teenager, Amber Dubois, has not been seen since the day before Valentine`s Day and her family says she would never leave on her own.

BILL GARCIA, CALIFORNIA LICENSES P.I., HELPING FAMILY IN SEARCH FOR MISSING TEEN, AMBER DUBOIS: I don`t think she`s a run away. She had too many things planned, there was nothing taken from the home. Usually in a runaway situation, I mean, they at least take a change of clothes. That`s not the case here. The little cash that she had was not taken.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Two people said they saw Amber just 300 yards from her school the morning she was last seen. But hours later, the school told the family Amber hadn`t showed for class. A private investigator hired by the family believes that Amber was abducted by strangers and says someone tried to access the voice mail on Amber`s cell phone but the password was rejected.

Police are still combing for clues, continuing their investigation.

DUBOIS: Great. She`s in a great mood. We went out to the movies, went out and fed the ducks at the park, like we typically do, me, her and my niece. She was in a great spirits.

GRACE: Was there any suggestion she was unhappy at home?

DUBOIS: No, absolutely not. No, they -- I mean typical home life, I mean I`m not going to paint a golden picture. I mean everything`s great there. I mean she loves her house, she loves her life, great friends, no problems.

GRACE: Mr. Dubois, what are police telling you?

DUBOIS: Basically, they`re continuing their investigation, you know. They are following up on leads that come in. There`s been no concrete leads, nothing significant that can help us find her at this point.

GRACE: Have you spoken to Amber`s school? Is there any way they can help? She was 300 yards from school. She had about a mile walk to you school. That`s what I had when I was a little girl.

DUBOIS: Yes.

GRACE: You`d think in one mile she`d be safe. Take a look at this, just one mile from her home to the Escondido High School.

DUBOIS: That`s correct. Even less than that, I would probably say it`s closer to a half mile than a mile.

GRACE: And it`s all residential.

DUBOIS: Absolutely.

GRACE: It just seems to me that at that time there would be a lot of kids walking to school. She was only 300 yards from the doorstep.

DUBOIS: That`s correct. Yes.

GRACE: Joining me right now is Bill Garcia, a private eye there in California, that`s helping the family.

Bill, what more can you tell me?

GARCIA: Good evening, Nancy. We`re continuing our investigation, along with the Escondido police. We`ve had a lot of leads come in since the tip line has been initiated. There`s a lot of people that have concern for Amber`s whereabouts and the community has come together bring her home.

GRACE: To Stacy Taylor, he is joining us from -- he`s a news talk show host at 1700 AM there in San Diego. Stacy, it`s great to have you with us.

It`s my understanding that there have been approximately four similar transactions in and around that area where people were attempted to be kidnapped, typically in a white van. And one woman, one young girl was kidnapped and held for about 20 to 30 minutes. What do you know?

STACY TAYLOR, NEWS TALK SHOW HOST, 1700 AM, COVERING STORY: That`s my understanding as well. And Mr. Garcia, I believe, has also been in contact with an adult woman who they attempted to abduct apparently in a similar circumstance with a white van.

And she -- she refused their, their proposal, and apparently actually ran, literally ran into an elementary school to escape. That is my understanding. I also learned from Maurice and I did some research on this today, and it appears to be true, there are any number of registered sex offenders living within approximately two miles of that high school in Escondido.

So you`re telling me that one of the victims actually ran into a school? It sounds like they`re targeting areas near schools, Stacy?

TAYLOR: It sounds like it to me, too. And that`s a pretty brazen attack.

Marc Klaas, weigh in.

MARC KLAAS, PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER, KLAASKIDS FOUNDATION: Well, it`s well known that school bus stops and school routes are playgrounds for predators. I mean they know that children are going to be in those places. So they go to those places. I think there`s a couple of things. The simple lesson in this situation is that children shouldn`t walk to school alone. It`s a well-known fact.

As I said that the predators understand the kids will be there and they do take advantage of that. Secondly I think if people were to look at all of the white vans out there, they`d be alarmed. There are tens of thousands of them.

And then finally, I think, that if they want to dispel any rumors that the little girl has run away and is still in the community something that they can do very quickly is saturate the community with posters of her on every telephone poll, retail store, et cetera, et cetera.

GRACE: To her father, Maurice Dubois, why do you believe she did not run away?

DUBOIS: I know my child, you know. When you have a relationship like our family has, we`re very, very close, you know. She is not the type of girl to runaway and not come back and face the music, you know? She has no reason to run away.

GRACE: Everybody, take a look at this little girl. Amber Dubois, she`s just 14. She was so excited that morning about exchanging Valentine`s at school.

My stylist lives in same neck of the woods as Amber. He says kids are still walking to school, just not alone.

They upped the reward to $60,000.00. Maybe someone will speak up.

Reward Increased As Search For Missing Teen Continues

ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- Authorities have stepped up the search for missing Escondido girl Amber Dubois, combing the northeast area of Escondido Wednesday.

An Escondido police officer following a lead at a homeowner's house Tuesday spotted three girls on top of a large rock in Escondido. The call prompted search crews to investigate the area.

According to authorities, many teenagers hang around the Daly Canyon and Daly Ranch areas off Rincon Avenue.

"Basically, our mission was to try to locate the teenagers up in the hillside or identify who they were," said Sgt. Mark Johnston of the Sheriff's Department.

Since Tuesday night, more than 45 people from Escondido police and the Sheriff's Department have scoured about a 3 sq. mile area around the hill.

"At this point we don't have any information that would lead us to believe that Amber is out there. But if the kids are talking about it, we want to make sure we follow up on it," said an official.

Police said they received a tip from students about a teen hangout near where the three girls were reportedly seen.

Thus far, there has been no luck in finding the girls or Dubois.

Dubois has been missing for nearly three weeks, having last been seen near Escondido High School.

On Wednesday, the Dubois family, as well as Mark Klaas, asked the public for help.

Klaas' daughter, Polly, was abducted and murdered in 1993 and has offered his support in the case.

"We're simply here to aid this family in a sustainable recovery effort. Hopefully one that won't be needed. Hopefully little Amber will come home sooner rather than later," said Klaas.

Meanwhile, the Dubois family is not giving up hope.

"Amber, if you're hearing this just know your family loves you and we cannot wait to have you back home in our arms, to have you home," said Amber's father, Maurice Dubois.

The family said the reward in this case has been increased to $60,000.

There is a fellow arrested for the rape of a 16 year old girl which he kidnapped early morning.. 30 miles south of Escondido
He released her.. which I find interesting..

Early morning abduction is rare. She was a 16 year old.. He was driving a stolen car.. Both early morn and young fit the MO.
He also had a gun.. But police said that the gun they found was not real when they arrested him.

He is 27 years old and a black male with bald head and a beard with mustache but made a request by his defense attorney that his picture in court be withheld.
I find that interesting.. He does not want to be identified by others..

I already sent the time to the family.. Who knows..They need to look at every possible scenario.

Her mom got a tattoo "Friday 13th" on her leg.. she said she did not know why, it was just that the f.b.i. and the police going through there home made her feel like doing it, so she did..
Mom and dad are divorced.. There is a live in boyfriend.

It's been 24 days since an Escondido teenager went missing without a trace. In this News 8 CrimeFighters investigation, we take a closer look at the timeline in the disappearance of Amber Dubois.


Friday, Feb. 13 7:10 a.m.: Parents spot 9th grader Amber Dubois walking to school two blocks north of Escondido High School. It's the only confirmed sighting of Amber by two separate witnesses.

"There were other kids coming down Broadway. There were kids being dropped off at the south corner of the stadium," parent David Wahlquist said.

Because other students and vehicles are in the area, police say it's unlikely Amber was abducted from the street.

"The assumption is she continued past or went into the high school, but as far as an abduction, that would cause a commotion, and somebody would recognize that," Escondido Police Lt. Craig Carter said.

7:30 a.m.: Amber never shows up for class. The school leaves a voicemail for Amber's mother, but it isn't until 4 p.m. on Friday that the mother's boyfriend comes home from work to find Amber missing.

Later that night, Verizon Wireless resets the password on Amber's cell phone so Amber's frantic mother can access her daughter's cell phone voicemail.

"I'm trying to keep things positive but it's really hard," Amber's mother Carrie McGonigle said.

Saturday, Feb. 14: Amber's cell phone is turned on for less than 30 seconds and pings off a cell phone tower in North Escondido. Whoever turned it on tried to access voicemail but was unsuccessful because the password had already been reset.

"The person dialed #86 to attempt to reach voicemail, couldn't get through and then they turned off the phone immediately," Amber's father Maurice Dubois said.

Police flood the neighborhood near the cell phone tower with reverse 911 calls, but fail to locate Amber. On Saturday night in downtown Escondido, a former classmate reports seeing Amber walking with two teenagers on Grand Avenue near Palomar Hospital. The sighting is unconfirmed.

Sunday night, Feb. 15: Another unconfirmed sighting near the intersection of Rincon Avenue and Conway. Search and rescue volunteers canvas the area handing out fliers, but still no Amber. She's been gone one week now, and friends at a candlelight vigil say there's no way Amber ran away.

"I know for a fact that there's zero percent chance that she just took off. That's an impossibility to me," friend Jade Fidell said.

Private investigator Bill Garcia organizes weekend searches. Then on March 3, a neighbor reports three teenage girls hiking near caves above Eastern Rincon Avenue.

"One of them, looking through binoculars, looked a lot like her," Escondido neighbor Tom Davids said.

The girls are never located, and the sighting is once again unconfirmed.

March 6: the family sets up Amber search headquarters. National organizations join the effort, offering a $50,000 reward for the girl's safe return.

ESCONDIDO — The father of missing teenager Amber DuBois has written her a letter and is asking the news media to circulate it.
Maurice DuBois says “our hope is that she will see our letter and know that her family is doing everything possible to bring her safely home.”
The letter talks about how he would be spending time with her if she were home, and describes pictures taken by her friends and a beach camping trip last summer. It concludes: “Don't lose hope in our finding you. I will never lose hope in our search for you.”
Amber, 14, disappeared while walking to Escondido High School the morning of Feb. 13. The family is offering a $60,000 reward – $50,000 for information leading to her safe return and $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for her disappearance.

This was supposed to be our weekend together and this afternoon at about the time I should be picking you up from the train station I was thinking about what I could do to talk to you like we would be doing right now. So I decided that tonight I would write you this letter and get it out where you might get a chance to read it.
   
One of your friends brought over a CD with pictures of you and your friends at their birthday beach party. Some cool pictures of you guys, one is of you running in the water at night by the pier with a cool sunset behind you. It reminds me of our midnight grunion run while camping last summer and all the fun we had that night catching all those darn fish with our hands. I guarantee on our next run, I will catch more than you!!!
   
Your Teacher Mr. Reyburn is keeping your lamb, ( Nénette ) for you till you get back. You can bet your Mom is looking as hard as she can for you since she will be doing your barn clean-up duties until you return.

Torture and murder conspiracy charges were filed against two men accused of kidnapping a 76-year-old woman and holding her captive in her car for 26 hours.

Nineteen-year-old Jeffrey Nelson and 18-year-old Luis Osborne pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday in San Diego Superior Court.

The teenagers bound and gagged Natalie Herbst-Vinge on Dec. 8 as they searched her home in the San Diego suburbs for money and credit cards.

Another judge dismissed attempted murder charges after a hearing in February because he said there was no evidence they tried to kill her.

EL CAJON, Calif. -- Three teenagers accused of kidnapping a 75-year-old La Mesa woman and subjecting her to what a prosecutor called a "26-hour nightmare" pleaded not guilty Friday to torture and other charges.

Jeffrey Edward Nelson, 19, of Lakeside; Luis Lomeli Osborne, 18; and Antoinette Baker, 19, both of El Cajon; are accused of abducting Natalie Herbst-Vinge last week and keeping her bound and without food or water in the trunk of her own car as they went on a daylong joyride in it.
 The prosecutor said Nelson sold a vacuum cleaner to Herbst-Vinge last week, then returned to her house twice on Monday.

The second time -- around 10 p.m. -- he allegedly attacked her from behind after asking if he could use her telephone.

Nelson allegedly choked her until she was unconscious.

When she awoke, she found herself bound and gagged with duct tape, said Greenwood.

"(Nelson) went through the house looking for personal identification like credit cards," the prosecutor said.

At some point, Osborne and Baker joined Nelson and they drove to Ocean Beach with Herbst-Vinge in the trunk of her car and used her gas card, Greenwood said.

Both men punched the victim and denied her pleas for water, and Baker refused to help her, the prosecutor alleged.

"We know (Baker) knew exactly what was going on with the victim and did absolutely nothing to help," Greenwood said.

The woman was found in the trunk after her alleged abductors were pulled over for a traffic violation around midnight Wednesday in El Cajon.

All three are charged with torture, robbery, kidnapping to commit a felony, willful cruelty to an elder causing great bodily injury, false imprisonment of an elder and theft from an elder.

Nelson is also charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with force likely to cause great bodily injury, burglary, carjacking and kidnapping during a carjacking.

Judge Patricia Cookson set bail at $2 million for each defendant and set a readiness conference for Dec. 23 at the East County Courthouse.

After the hearing, Greenwood -- who has prosecuted elder abuse cases for 12 years -- said seniors can no longer take a chance by being kind and letting a stranger into their homes.

Candace Mahoney, the victim's granddaughter, said, "(Herbst-Vinge) doesn't understand why (Nelson) would do that to her."

The woman is doing well in the hospital and is no longer bedridden, although it's uncertain when she will be released, according to her family.

Tests are being run because it's possible she suffered a heart attack during her ordeal, they said.

Her son, Daniel Allen, said his mother hasn't lost her ability to laugh.

"She said, 'The things I have to do to get my family together' -- that's her sense of humor," he said.

Police said Tuesday that a 27-year-old man was in custody on suspicion of abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl in the East County.
The man, Willie Kendall Williams, was arrested around 6 p.m. Monday at a relative's home in San Diego, El Cajon police Lt. Tim Henton said.

Williams allegedly forced the girl into a green older-model car in or near the 1100 block of East Main Street in El Cajon about 9 a.m. Monday, Lt. Steve Shakowski said.

According to the girl, Williams then drove a short distance, pulled over in an alley and sexually assaulted her before letting her go, he said.

The teen said she saw a pistol in the sedan, according to police.

The vehicle description given by the girl matched that of one stolen Monday morning about a mile from where the assault took place, Henton said.

Once Williams was identified as a suspect in the auto theft, his picture was included in a photo line-up shown to the girl who reported being assaulted, according to Henton. He said the girl identified Williams as her attacker.

Williams was booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping for the purpose of sexual assault, forcible oral copulation with a juvenile and assault with a deadly weapon.

On Feb. 13, David remembers seeing Amber walking two blocks from the school around 7:10 a.m. - a full 20 minutes before the first bell.

"In fact, I remember thinking oh, she's a little bit early," he said.

The total distance of the route Amber takes from her home to the location of the school is less than a mile, north on Paradise Street, West on Vista Avenue and finally South on Broadway walking toward the school. It was here where two parents in different cars reported seeing Amber walking on the west side of the street.

"She was kind of jogging when I saw her and I thought she just looked like she was in a hurry," Wahlquist said.

The location is right next to a driveway that leads past a school bus maintenance yard and down to the school's livestock farmyard.

Multiple surveillance cameras monitor the farmyard, and the principal says that students, volunteers and teachers frequently stop by before school. Police have looked at that surveillance tape, but so far, nothing.

"There is that possibility that she went in that direction. Reports are she was seen around that driveway. It's a possibility, but it's not showing up on the video," Escondido Police Lt. Craig Carter said.

In the news stories I have not seen the mother. The Dad is on TV a lot. I agree, he seems to be a good man. There have been abduction attempts at other locations. Maybe the El Cahon perp is connected. I do recall report of a previous attempt by 2 men in a white service vehichle. Of course, there are thousands of white service vans. I know, I notice them all now that the story was released.

Brenda VanDam was on the news. She was helping the family of Amber. Brenda looks great btw.

I hate when any child is abducted but this one hits too close to home. I never let my daughters walk alone to school. People probably think that overprotective, but oh well, it was my choice. It is a sad state of affairs when a 14 year old gets snatched off the street on her way to school.

Escondido teen Amber Dubois went missing one month ago, and on Friday, family and friends of the 14-year-old gathered at a candlelight vigil.
Though police have received numerous tips, they said they are still no closer to finding her.

Dubois was last seen walking to Escondido High School on Friday, Feb. 13.

Friends and family members have scheduled regular searches for the girl and are urging people to volunteer in the search.

They are asking gas staion owners to review there videos from march 13 2009 looking for amber.


 It's been one month since a teenager vanished in Escondido. Friday night family, friends and volunteers held a candlelight vigil for 14-year-old Amber Dubois.

After investigating about 100 tips, detectives still have no solid leads. Amber's family says she would never run away but police can't find any evidence of foul play.
And now on this one month anniversary, Amber's family is worried about volunteers losing interest in searching for the missing teen.

They're releasing more photos of Amber and passing out blue ribbons in hopes of keeping Amber in people's thoughts as time goes by.

The search continues this weekend. If you would like to join in, check in Saturday morning at the Amber Dubois Search Center, located at 755 N Quince Street in Escondido between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Volunteers must be 18-years-old and wear comfortable clothes.

Authorities asked anyone with information on the missing teenager's possible whereabouts to call (760) 743-TIPS.

Reward Increased

The search continues for Amber Dubois, the 14-year old Escondido high school student who's been missing for 18 days.
Wednesday night, the reward for information leading to her discovery was raised to $60,000.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department search team is looking for clues to Amber's disappearance in a rugged area off Rincon Road in Escondido.

The area they searched Wednesday is called Sunrise Mountain. That follows Tuesday night's search of Daily Ranch. This comes after a resident reported suspicious activity in the area.

Although missing for more than three weeks, Sergeant Don Parker remains confident that Amber will be found.

"Instead of looking for a body, we like to look for a live person," explained Parker. "We're still doing that."

The Klass Kids Foundation is now part of the search efforts. Marc Klass will search areas that have yet to be explored in Escondido. Marc Klass' daughter, Polly, was kidnapped and murdered in 1993.

"Probably the most important thing you can tell the family is that they have to eat and that they have to rest and that they have to try to hold onto their sanity," said Klass.

The Klass Kids Foundation will begin searching the area on Saturday. They are using the Laura Recovery Center, the same group that helped find Danielle van Dam.

Community Support

Amber has not seen since she walked to school in Escondido on Friday, February 13th.


Amber's family thinks all evidence points toward Amber planning to arrive at school on Friday, February 13th.

They say she was carrying Valentine's Day gifts for her friends and a $200 check for a deposit on a lamb she planned to raise as part of her school's Future Farmer's program.

The family also revealed Amber sent four text messages to her grandmother before leaving the house that morning for the roughly mile-long walk to school.  Amber was last seen by two family friends only about 300 yards from the school's gate.

Police interviewed hundreds of students at Amber's high school, according to published reports that also say the girl's family members have been given polygraph tests.

Escondido police asked for the public's help in finding a young man who offered rides to girls as they walk home from school in Escondido's Oak Hill neighborhood.  That's about three miles from Amber's school.

Police have not said if they see a possible connection between the two cases.  For more on the Oak Hill story, click here.

The FBI is assisting police in the investigation. Amber's family also hired a private detective.


Amber's mother led hundreds on a search for Amber through local mountains,  Many in the community joined Carrie to help her pass out more than 40,000 fliers she printed regarding Amber's disappearance, going door to door to as many of Escondido's 80,000 homes as possible.

Among the volunteers passing out fliers were La Mesa resident Celeste Dopp.

"I've never met (Amber). I've never even been to Escondido, this is my first time up here" she said.

But she felt obliged to donate her weekend to Amber's family. "If it were my child, I would expect everybody to be outside all day everyday until she is found."

Celeste is confident that day will come. "A girl doesn't just go missing and nobody didn't see anything, tell anybody anything. Somebody saw something! And we're going to find this girl."

New Theory
ESCONDIDO - There is another possible theory behind the disappearance of Amber Dubois. The 14-year-old girl has been missing since Friday February 13th. Amber's family and Private Investigator Bill Garcia are piecing together what they think may have happened. Their primary theory remains that Amber was abducted by a stranger while on her way to school, but now another possibility is developing.

“Either someone that knew Amber or knew of Amber may have played a cruel prank on her being that is was Friday the 13th and the Valentine's day holiday,” says Garcia.

According to Garcia, based on talks with Amber's friends, Escondido High School has seen its fair share of cruel and unusual pranks. Specific details on what kind of pranks were not released.

“I don't feel in my heart, even though I've heard stories of it, but I don't feel in my heart that any child would hold a prank on this long,” says Amber’s father, Maurice Dubois. Dubois says from day one he's felt that Amber was abducted.

Residents in San Diego County are reminded of Amber nearly everyday, but now her search is gaining National and even International attention; but Escondido will remain the primary area of search. “It was disgusting, within two miles of her school there are 29 registered sex offenders,” said Dubois.

Missing Escondido teen's Web activity focus of search warrants

ESCONDIDO ---- Friends of missing Escondido teenager Amber Dubois told police last month that the girl had been chatting with boys online, a situation that drew concern from one of her friends, according to court records obtained Friday.

And a forensic probe of the computer used by Amber and her family revealed a bump in Internet activity in the week before the teen's disappearance, according to an affidavit Escondido police filed last week to get a warrant to look at the computer communications of Amber, who went by the screen name "wolfintheend."

"This is not unusual, and it doesn't change our opinion of the case," Escondido police Lt. Craig Carter said Saturday of the increased activity. "We are still classifying this as a missing juvenile, not a runaway or an abduction."

Family and friends have described Amber as a bookish, sheltered girl who loved animals, including wolves, and never spoke of running away. They believe the Escondido High School freshman was abducted.

Massive searches have been mounted to find Amber, and dozens of volunteers headed out this weekend to search for the girl.

Amber was last seen heading to school at 7:10 a.m. Feb. 13, with a $200 check in hand to purchase a lamb for her 4-H project. She was also toting Valentine's Day gifts for her friends as she headed along busy North Broadway Avenue close to the campus.

One witness saw her walking toward Escondido High with a tall, slender, dark-complexioned young male, according to court documents. Carter said police are hoping that person, who could have been a fellow student, will recognize himself in the description and come forward to help them.

Online chats?

In court documents obtained Friday by the North County Times, Escondido police state that two of Amber's friends told a police detective Feb. 19 that the teenager had told each of them she had been spending time online talking to boys.

One of her friends told officers she tried to dissuade Amber from doing so, "due to her type of conversations that Amber stated she was talking about and the dangers associated with this behavior," according to the search warrant affidavit from Escondido police Officer Damon Vander Vorst.

Amber's parents each said they were surprised to hear the revelation. Both raised doubts and concerns about what their daughter's friends had said.

"I hope police follow through with that and check it out," Maurice Dubois said. "We want them to follow upon any such leads.

"It makes me nervous about Internet predators," he said, adding that he was unaware that his daughter could have been taking part in online chats with boys. He said he routinely checked her computer communications when she was with him at his Orange County home.

Amber's mother, Carrie McGonigle, echoed those concerns and said she also monitored her daughter's Internet activity. She said Amber could have been lured by someone she may have known or somehow had been acquainted with.

The warrant affidavit also states that a probe of the computer revealed Internet activity on it had increased the week prior to her disappearance ---- and that activity stopped after Amber went missing.

The warrant obtained by police last week allows them to search the content and subscriber information of Amber's Yahoo account, on which she used the online name "wolfintheend."

With no solid leads, police said they are putting out feelers everywhere they can, looking into everything they can ---- including obtaining warrants to search Amber's Internet records.

The warrant for the Yahoo account is one of many police have sought and received to view the content of Amber's communications on various social networking or other Internet sites she may have been visited, Escondido police Lt. Robert Benton said.

The law requires that each social networking site, as well as Internet content providers like Yahoo, must be individually served with a search warrant in order for police to probe Amber's activity on those sites.

Searches of electronic communications are a standard investigating tool for police. In Amber's case, police said they are also looking through the teenager's cell phone calls and text messages.

"This is just a normal course of action in a case like this," Lt. Carter said. "We are going to make every effort in case there are any additional clues."

Search continues

Amber's father and mother, along with the mother's boyfriend, all voluntarily took and passed polygraph tests, Lt. Benton said last month. All have been ruled out as suspects.

The case has gained local and national media attention, with the family holding several press conferences and community searches for Amber.

On Friday, which marked exactly four weeks since Amber disappeared, about 100 people joined her family in front of Escondido High School for a candlelight vigil.

"She's very precious to me," Amber's grandmother Genie Dubois said Friday evening as she handed out blue ribbons for attendees to wear. "On a busy street like this, how can a girl just disappear?"

A few of her friends sobbed and hugged afterward as they sat in the grass and talked about Amber.

A reward of $50,000 has been offered for information leading to the teen's safe return. Another $10,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

The search for the child continues, and her mother said about 90 volunteers showing up Saturday to help comb Escondido for signs of her.

A similar search is set for Sunday. Volunteers are asked to meet at 755 N. Quince St. in Escondido any time between 8 a.m. and noon to help. More information is available at www.bringamberhome.com.

I noticed that the family mom and dad have requested all gas station videos be looked at on the date of disappearance looking for Amber in the Video.

I would like to see his pictures in the hands of LE investigators and that they themselves go around gas stations and stores looking for his image in video.

If he has disposed of Amber, he is not going to jump up and admit it.. LE will have to prove him in the area.. Then searches can take place in his line of travel..
 He could have been talking with Amber on a computer... He could have been in a public library or on one of his other family members home doing that or even on one of these new hand held cell phone devices..

 His last attack was to the south by 30 miles..
Amber would be between her home and there.. Still if it is him the area needs to be narrowed down. First they will have to prove HE was in the area at the time..
He would have been in a stolen car.

Police are examining several new pieces of possible evidence today in the case of missing Escondido teenager Amber Dubois. The possible evidence includes clothing found over the weekend in the hills of northwest Escondido.
Police say they're also looking over recently subpoenaed cell phone and computer usage records, which show the 14-year-old was more active than usual in online chats the week before she disappeared.

Amber was last seen the morning of February 13th walking to Escondido High School, where she was a student.

Several items of possible evidence were found as volunteers searched the hills in the northwest part of Escondido for clues in the disappearance of 14-year-old Amber Dubois.

Sheriff's officials told KFMB-TV they found several items of clothing that will be analyzed during the week to see if they can be helpful in the search for the girl.

The North County Times reported that police subpoenaed cell phone and computer usage records recently and found that Amber was more active than usual in online chats the week before she disappeared.

Amber's father, Maurice DuBois, said Amber's disappearance has taken a toll on her family. The girl's 5-year-old half-sister is in counseling and Amber's mother struggles every day, he said. Her parents, who are divorced, haven't worked since Amber disappeared.

There's a $55,000 reward for anyone with information leading to her safe return and an additional $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible for her disappearance.

A search is scheduled every day, but investigators don't disclose where they are sending people to look. The command center houses a closed-off room with maps marked with search areas.

Since Amber's disappearance was so mysterious, there is a chance the girl was abducted by someone she knew, Dubois said.

Police and Amber's father have no strong theories on how she disappeared.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009I do not want to bring false hope however, I do want to help Amber get home. I'm sure I sound crazy and maybe I am, but I could not let it go. Last night a friend of mine, out of the blue, said "I drove by a sign with Amber Dubois name on it and I experienced something really strange". He continued on to say that Amber was taken by someone she knew, not personally, but someone she saw everyday either driving by , or someone that maybe used to wave to her all the time, he offered to get her stoned. My friend seems to think Amber liked to smoke pot. He said that is why she got in this mans car on her own free will. He said Amber was taken to a house near the school on a street called Nina. The house is coral color with white trim and it has dividers on the window. There is a dark green or dark blue older style truck sitting at or near the house. I have never been in that area but I drove there tonight. I could not see the house colors well because it was dark, but as I drove down nina there was a house with dividers in the window and outside on the street was a green older style truck. In the driveway was a dark blue older style truck. I called and told him about what I saw on the street and asked him if he were bullshitting or not. He said "I've never been on that street". he stated it just came to him and it was so overwhelming, he thinks the police should hit every house on that street at 5am and search for Amber or evidence of her. The mind is a powerful thing and can often play tricks on us, but like I said I could not let it go. I think my friend is psychic, but I know there has been many cases solved by psychics. If that were my daughter I would of had a psychic involved immediately. The police didn't handle that other missing girls case very well. The one where they arrested the brother and his friend and let them sit in juvenile hall forever without looking into other leads. Anyway, I do not know Amber or her family. I never heard of her until news broke she was missing. Now I may never forget her. I pray she is found.

Dad: 'Clues' Turned Over In Missing-Teen Case

The father of a missing teenager girl told a local paper that some "clues were turned over to" local investigators.

Maurice Dubois' 14-year-old daughter, Amber Dubois, was last seen Feb. 13 as she walked to Escondido High School.

Dubois also told the North County Times that the "clues" may be helpful but that he did not know anything specific about them.

Searchers that included family,friends and volunteers combed the county for the fourth weekend on Saturday and Sunday. KFMB reported that the searches had turned "up possible evidence." The station's Web site said representatives of the sheriff's department said several items of clothing had been located that would be checked for connections to the case.

In another heartbreaking development in the case, Amber's mother, Carrie McGonigle, said that she had been awakened twice in the middle night since she last saw her daughter by callers claiming to have Amber. Both calls, however, turned out to be made by crank callers.

Anyone with information about the case is being urged to call the Escondido police at 760-743-8477.

I am hoping at this time she is safe and alive.. All can be forgiven as she is just 14 years old.
Finding her safe would really be uplifting.
But that does not blind me from All we have witnessed and followed over the last 4 years.
I am just trying to stay positive..

There is a few things..
1. A tattoo on mom.. That was really strange.. Means little, but to tattoo the date of disappearance? Not like anybody would forget that..  Anyways it means nothing.. I probably read to much into that.. Like she said she was just reacting to stress of the F.B.I. rummaging through her house..

2. Various comments made by others as to indications of some sort of drug usage.
      This is not uncommon many people use drugs. That can be cleared up with a simple test.
3. A Divorce and distance.. Do not know the relationship between mother and father.
4. A cell phone that tries to check messages and then shuts off.. A day later, not to far away from where she is last seen. Same city
5. No witness to struggle in a very populated area near the school as many high school age kids arrive. Amber herself is seen.. Witnessed by various people walking.

I have suspects
In a man who actually abducted a 16 year old one week later by pulling up next to her in a stolen car and pointing what appears to be a gun and telling her to get into his car.. She does without struggle. He rapes her and lets her go..
 Police should be looking at all video surveillance cameras or sending his photo to all gas stations and convenience stores asking them to check there cameras on the date in question looking for her and this fellow William who committed this other act..
 The fact that he was smart enough to get his court appointed attorney to keep his face out of the news says he is hiding his face for a reason..
I find him as high suspect.. Because he did an early morning attack around 8.a.m. he had a stolen car and he had what appeared to be a gun, which he could have disposed of before police arrested him. He shows the MO for the act of abduction.
Finding him in video in the area would be the ultimate, possible in another stolen vehicle. Maybe he has chatted with Amber online previously.. Possibly, He knew she was going to school at what time..

 I have read about a group of hookers working the motels in Escondido.. It was noted in the news media. Not far away from the high school.
 There could be a pimp who abducts a girl to indoctrinate her.. He would have to be half crazy and on drugs.. Happens all the time.
 Moves her to another city, Breaks her in and threatens her with grave bodily harm to herself and her loved ones, and is Hiding her in plain sight.. In another city far far away by now.
This is how it is done and noted by Dr.Donna Hughes in her study called "Hiding in plain sight"
But does it happen every day ?? I do not think so. But it does happen.
I do not think the police have considered this option.. They should be taking the girls off the streets to jail and interrogating them looking for strange acting males in the area... Other males who may have a desire for young girls.
Also finding there pimp if there is one, interrogating him or her too. Watching that pimp like a hawk!! They are very dangerous people... They would kill you for.. Anything. Generally the type of personality that seeks to control and enslave other human beings are sociopathic.

The chances are though, she has in fact run away, because there was no sign of struggle.
Although people see her walking there is no witness to a vehicle approaching her. There is a witness to one tall dark fellow walking with her by this one witness account..
Who is that person ? Is that William ? If so he would have a bald head and a short beard and he is 23 years old ?.. she is 14, BIG age difference and the witness said it looked like another student.. But that student has not been reported to have stepped forward.
Police do not have to tell the media anything.. He "the student" may have already stepped up.
I hope so.
The other options are not nice..

I just keep reading and praying for the best for Amber and her family.
Even though I comment with my thoughts on each article I read or comment made by others My best thoughts and hopes are for the safe return of Amber and relief for her family knowing she is safe.

If not her safe.. Then I want the bad guy. Identifying people "suspect" early is important.
I have never seen searches where flyer's are handed out be successful.. Property invasions should be high on LE list of things to do.. I have not seen that happen and there are many many illegals living in outlying areas farms and ranches.. The police do not appear from the beginning to be aggressive in there search efforts.

Edward, I thank you for covering this situation for us.  For some reason I too seem to be obsessed with the case.   I wish SM were giving it a more prominant listing.   

The main fact to remember is that Amber is 14 years old.  I know at that age she feels invincible and may take risks and make bad choices, but the fact remains that she is ONLY 14.   Sometimes after worrying and caring for a time with no good information forthcoming, I may become impatient with the victim for not dressing right,  going  out alone at night, having shady friends,  trying drugs, etc.  Then I remember... she is the victim and ONLY 14. 

Guess by now you can see my take on the case.  It looks to me as if people are beginning to "slime" her and her family.  I see why, and sincere people as well as trolls may do it, but I do not agree.  I agree with you that LE needs to be looking for predators both criminals and male relatives and friends of the family.   Statistically, that would make more sense.

You mention her Mom's tattoo.  Well I too am speechless (or not).  No way can I imagine the urge to tattoo, or tattoo that date on myself, but that's just me.  Probably my age.

Drugs and divorce may be factors, but neither lead me to think so in this case.

The cell phone call for messages is odd.  Don't know what to think about that.

No witness to the abduction indicates to me that she either knew, or had no reason to fear the abductor.  Including teachers, parents of other students, etc.  Or that he showed a gun.   She is young and athletic and smart, too smart to go quietly.

The alternate possibility to abduction seems to me the "Romeo and Juliet" plot.  I too hope that is what happened.     

Let's just hold the thought that when this happened Amber was said to be a good student, well behaved, reasonable, and giving no trouble to anyone   Talking to boys on the Internet ...   well she is a 14 year old girl.

I feel like I am reading a Jack in the box soap opera here, there is a real person missing, this is real, there real people are suffering and want a real person to come home. We are getting off track. If you know something or even have a feeling about something, call the tip hot line, you don't have to leave a name, and let the police handle it . I believe that the police is doing everything they can, if you think you can do better than you go out there and find her. We should also be careful what we say cause it might be harmful to her. 
Also, unless you know for a fact about the family, we should stop spreading nasty rumors about something we know or even sure about. 
I really hope that the families and friends don't read any of the hurtful comments. Amber's family and friends are in my prayer and thoughts everyday until she come home.

We have discussed this before, they all insist that "Trolls" have been around forever.. Not just on the Internet
Calling in false leads and claiming to know things they have no clue about.. Wasting valuable time and money.. Even Police get into a position where they start questioning everything anyone says.. Sometimes discounting information when they should not and sometimes chasing a lead and ending up with nothing.. Very frustrating.

This mom of Amber has received 2 calls last week alone with people claiming they have Amber in there possession..
Can anyone imagine that phone call? What kind of heart stopping horror that is for this parent?
What kind of low life person does that ? What is wrong with some peoples minds ?

In the reality of what this family is going through " which is hell on Earth" and so many more like them, the false reports and dead ends are endless.
 I have followed many many missing persons cases and done some searches and I have been witness myself to these false leads taking time money and precious energy away from the family and those who are trying to help them..

I have seen the father on news shows and he talks about what a close family they all are..
Let's hope that this child is found safe soon..

NORTH COUNTY ---- Local Applebee's restaurants will hold a benefit night for Amber Dubois on Tuesday, family of the missing Escondido teen said.

Fifteen percent of the proceeds from all participants will go to the Amber Leeanne Dubois Trust, which supports efforts to bring the 14-year-old home, the teen's family said.

To participate, download a flier from www.bringamberhome.com and present it at one of 13 Applebee's restaurants. The locations include: Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos, Temecula, Murrieta, Mira Mesa, Mission Valley, Clairemont Mesa, Rancho San Diego, El Cajon, National City, La Habra and Corona.

The benefit runs from 5 to 9 p.m.

Well, the weekend search did not produce any new information, and general interest is waining.  Family is working hard to keep Amber's story in the news.  Next Sunday they are planning another search.

Just commenting on what little I know. But...it does seem the Dad is on TV more often and his grief comes across (at least to me). I have heard that the area where Amber resided has been described as crack city.

In the North County of San Diego there is a lot of open space. I thought (before I moved here) that the San Diego area was a dense big city. It is not.

Bikers from San Juan Capistrano take part in the "poker run" Saturday to raise money for the Amber Leeanne Dubois Trust Fund.

 The parents of missing Escondido teenager Amber Dubois organized two events this past week, hoping to keep the spotlight on the search for their daughter.  Amber's been missing now for five weeks. Her parents, though frustrated,  say they're not giving up hope, even though the number of volunteers has dwindled and police have no new leads.

"The more attention the better," Amber's father Maurice Dubois said. "There's got to be someone out there who knows something."

On Wednesday night,  Applebee's restaurants in San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties donated 15 percent of their revenue to help in the search.

Saturday there was a "poker run" motorcycle ride from San Juan Capistrano to Escondido that ended at the search center that's been set up for Amber.

Event organizers said about 150 riders showed up at the center. After the run there was a giant raffle, live entertainment and food provided by Buckboard BBQ.

Maurice Dubois told our media partner The North County Times that the riders with the best poker hands won thousands, but declined the prize money, instead donating it back to the search fund.

"It shows you the kind of heart these people have," he said.

Maurice Dubois said they raised over $5,000 Saturday. He also told NBC 7/39 that they are narrowing their search to weekends only.

Amber was last seen walking to school on February 13, 2009. Considered a model student, her parents believe she was abducted by strangers.

ESCONDIDO ---- Patches on their leather and denim jackets proclaimed alliances with mean-sounding motorcycle clubs like the "Gunfighters" and the "Sinners and Saints," but the hundreds of bikers who rumbled into central Escondido Saturday shared a benign purpose.

Event organizers said about 150 riders cruised from San Juan Capistrano to Escondido for the "poker run" fundraiser to help the search for missing Escondido teen Amber Dubois.

About 100 more bikers showed up at the Amber Search Center, on the corner of Mission Avenue and Quince Street, to listen to live music, check out each others' motorcycles and get in on raffles supporting the search.

Maurice Dubois, father of the Escondido High School student last seen walking near the school Feb. 13, said he didn't know much about bikers or motorcycles. But he hoped the event, organized by the San Diego Confederation of Clubs, would help keep the story of his missing daughter alive. With police turning up no leads on her disappearance, he said, it has become harder as time passes to enlist volunteers and spread the word that people should call with any information about Amber's disappearance.

"The more attention the better," Dubois said. "There's got to be someone out there who knows something."

Amber's family members say she would never run away, and they believe she was abducted. Police have said there is no strong evidence to support either theory.

In their matching club jackets, long beards and tattoos, the groups on two-wheeled cruisers attracted plenty of attention Saturday. Taking advantage of the spectacle, people stood on Mission Avenue with large signs calling for more search volunteers.

Kyle Cearley, a member of the Peckerwoods Motorcycle Club in East County helped organize the Saturday ride. She said the plight of Amber and her family had resonated with him and others in his club.

"I've got kids and so do a lot of these guys," he explained.

Bonnie Collins, the treasurer of the North County-based women's motorcycle club Graveyard Gamblers, said she came out for the fun of the ride and, she hoped, for a good cause.

"They really need to find that girl," she said.

Entry fees for the event, in which riders made several stops to pick up playing cards to incorporate into a poker hand, was $30 for individuals and $35 for riders with a passenger. Maurice Dubois said he was unsure how much money was raised.

But he said that the riders with the best poker hands had declined over $1,000 of $1,200 offered in prize money, instead donating it back to the search fund.

"It shows you the kind of heart these people have," he said.

Dubois said he had a meeting with Escondido police this week, in part to discuss how to best spend the money raised to search for Amber. Rebecca Smith, Maurice Dubois' longtime girlfriend, said that before Saturday's event, the Amber Leanne Dubois Trust Fund had about $12,000 in donations.

Amber's family is again asking for search volunteers to meet at 8 a.m. Sunday at the search center on Quince Street.

Shell ... Thank you for the articles.  I was really hoping for something new to come of the Sunday search.   The family seems to be keeping the public interest up and encouraging LE.    I just hope LE actually has some leads and information that will provide a good ending to this story.

The more I think about it, I am sorry I made the crack city comment. Probably no more drug problem in that area than anywhere else. I really do not know considering I do not even live there. My heart breaks for both of the parents. A 14 year old is a child, their child. I feel strongly this is a stranger or acquaintence abduction. Given the location of the phone when it tried to check messages the day after Amber went missing makes me think it is a person who lives in or near Ambers neighborhood and knows the schedule and habits of the area.

The story is mentioned often in the local news. I don't know about national coverage. Amber's photo seems to be everywhere I go. I too hope LE has more leads than what has been shared in the news. She seems like such a sweet innocent young lady, her parents were divorced but she seemed to have a good relationship with them both and I think I heard or read she spent weekends with her Dad.

What upsets me:

This child is 14, for cripes sake. Amber, and all missing children should be given equal coverage.

There is the Stephanie Crow case (in the same area) that was botched up. I am going on the faith that the LE have learned from the past and know more and have taken this case very seriously...meaning not a runaway, but an abduction.

If she ended up being abducted by someone she met online I would not be surprised. Sometimes little lambs like to come off as a wolf online. Be somebody they are not. Talk about things they would never do. That in no way means Amber is not a sweet nice girl. Naive probably. I continue to pray and she is safe and she is found.

On Monday, many Escondido parents were warned to talk to their children about being safe as they head to and from school. This is in light of an attempted abduction that took place near Mission Middle School, as two male students were walking toward school.
A voice recording made by Mission Middle School Principal Leticia Arroyo was sent by phone to the parents of all the students. In the beginning of the recording, Arroyo stated that, "At approximately 8 am, an attempt to abduct two male Mission students was attempted on the corner of Mission Avenue and Cedar St.  Both the students and the parents are receiving the necessary support from the Escondido Police Department and Mission Middle School."

This and a similar recording were sent to parents at Escondido Union School District and Escondido Union High School District. Parents were warned to be cautious when it comes to their children's paths to school and to notify police if they see anything suspicious. School officials said the suspects were a black and white male driving a four-door black sedan that could possibly be a Chrysler. There is a Chargers lightning bolt sticker on the rear window of the car.
The voice recording stated that the suspects attempted to physically put two eighth grade boys in their vehicle as they were approaching school. Parents say the news is frightening.

Josephine Palaciso received the phone warning and said, "I'm scared. I want to make sure my kids get to school. I want to make sure someone's with them at all times, and I tell them, 'always watch your surroundings.'"

Parents said that, in the robo-call recording, the superintendent mentioned the case of Amber Dubois, the 14-year-old who went missing in February. Dubois' parents said the attempted abduction makes them frustrated.

Amber's father Maurice Dubois said, "Absolutely, you feel it's connected.  Anytime a child is abducted and yours is still missing, you feel there is some form of a connection. Personally, how I felt?  I felt real frustrated." :(

Carrie McGonigle, Amber's mother, said the attempted abduction proves that children are being targeted in Escondido. McGonigle said, "I know she didn't run away, so obviously someone took her. They (the police) need to find who has Amber and find who did this.

Also.. NOTHING was found on the computer records... There was no conversations going on between Amber and anyone online according to police.

Getting the description of the white and Black Males is significant...

Police are offering a $1,000 reward to find two men who kidnapped a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her.

The girl told San Diego police it happened last month as she was walking home from school through Chicano Park.

Detectives said the girl was forced into a van, blindfolded, then sexually assaulted at another location. She was released after the attack.

The report set off an alert with police and Escondido's Mission Middle School Monday after two children reported someone tried to force them into a car Monday morning.
Police say the boys made up the story, hoping to avoid school disciplinary action for a different incident.

Police Seek Man Accused Of Assaulting Students

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police are looking for a man accused of assaulting three female students as they walked to school on Monday morning.

According to police, three girls were walking to Correia Middle School at approximately 8:10 a.m. Monday when a man allegedly attempted to grab them and put him in his van. The incident took place near the corner of Valeta Street and Famosa Boulevard.

The girls were able to escape from the man, and the San Diego Unified School Police and SDPD were contacted. The girls' parents were also contacted.

Two of the girls were treated for slight injuries to their wrists, police said.

The alleged attacker was described as a black male in his early 30s and over 6 feet tall. He was thin, bald and wearing a black shirt.

The van was described as an older, burgundy-colored Ford with solid side panels.

Police are asking the public to notify them if they see anyone who fits the alleged attacker's description or if anyone locates the van.

Also, I asked if people are still discussing it and the answer was...not really. Those 2 boys did a bad thing by telling a story of attempted abduction and should be punished, but I think it stirred up discussion of Amber.

I recall reading a dark skinned male. I would have to re read all articles to find how he was described. If it was a fellow student, I have not heard. If it was a stranger, where are the sketches? I do recall she was 300 yards from the school when last seen (by a friend)?
Areas around highschools are usually so busy, I can't imagine her being snatched off the street.

Point Loma is within the city of San Diego.. It is located near the beach.

It is only 20- 30 miles between all of the crimes mentioned..

The searches for Amber should be going on in the Mohave desert at this point as it is a normal spot to place bodies historically.

ESCONDIDO ---- The family of missing teen Amber Dubois and the police who have investigated her case for two months say they're not giving up hope, even as the flood of tips about Amber's disappearance has slowed to a steady drip.

The 14-year-old Escondido High School freshman vanished Feb. 13 on her way to school. Her parents and friends have described Amber as a bookish girl who loved horses, was a model student and never spoke of running away.

Her family believes Amber was abducted by a stranger. Police say they have no evidence to support either a runaway or abduction theory, and are looking at all possible scenarios.

There have been no significant developments in the case for weeks, causing added despair for the family and frustrating police.

"This has been a very frustrating and perplexing case for our investigators," Escondido police Lt. Bob Benton said. "To have a 14-year-old girl missing is a huge concern for all of us involved ... (Through the investigation) we all know Amber, obviously not as well as the family. She is very dear to us. We'll do anything to find her."

Benton said the department receives at least a half-dozen tips daily. Many are possible sightings and each one is checked out through phone calls, interviews or viewing surveillance video when possible, Benton said.

Police continue to receive bits of Amber's e-mail and online chat history through search warrant requests. Several family members and friends voluntarily turned over computers that Amber used, though none of the history so far has shown anything "out of the ordinary," Benton said.

Accessing Amber's computer history, on both her Yahoo! e-mail account and from several social networking sites, has been slow because much of the data is stored on servers overseas, the lieutenant said.

Benton added that police would like to speak with a young man who appeared to be walking with Amber on the west side of Broadway the morning she disappeared. Amber occasionally walked with classmates on the way to school, though the boy with a dark complexion doesn't match any of those classmates, Benton said.

"That is one of the unsolved questions in the case," he said, noting two neighbors independently said they saw Amber at 7:10 a.m. walking on Broadway near the school's football stadium ---- the last time anyone has reported seeing the girl. One of the neighbors said they saw her with the boy, Benton said.

Maurice Dubois, Amber's father, said the family will continue to organize weekend searches and events to raise awareness about their daughter.

Family and friends have held numerous candlelight vigils, press conferences and fundraisers to keep Amber's story in the news.

"We're not going to lose hope," said Dubois, noting that each passing day becomes more difficult.

Mark Klaas, whose daughter Polly was kidnapped and murdered in 1994 in Northern California, said he knows well what the Dubois family is going through. His daughter was found 65 days after she was abducted.

"(Two months) is closing in on despair," said Klaas, who now heads the KlaasKids Foundation, which works to stop crimes against children. "You start these (searches) with boundless hope that it will be a weekend project."

After weeks go by, your hope "hangs by a thread," he said.

Bill Garcia, a San Diego private investigator who worked for the Dubois family early in the search, said keeping Amber's name prominent is likely the best hope for the family.

The veteran investigator said he remains puzzled by the case, noting some kind of development typically surfaces by now.

To find new clues in a stalled case, he said, police typically go back to the beginning to find "any tidbit" they might have missed ---- something Benton said police are doing.

Volunteers are still needed for weekend searches, Dubois said. He urged off-duty military personnel with search experience to contact the family. Information about getting involved is available at the family's Web site, www.bringamberhome.com.

Amber is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Edward 3 minutes ago FLAG COMMENT Police could do a lot more to inform the family and the public.. A timeline of events could be in the news. Like a date and map of where the cell phone was used. A sketch of the boy she was supposedly walking with. Areas searched.. Areas Not searched. Did the police in fact take a close look at the culprit who attacked the 16 year old ? He would not allow his face on camera in the court room.. There is a reason for that.. He might just fit the profile of who was walking with Amber. If the police have looked at him they need to tell the family they have.. The family needs to know progress and people looked at and questioned.. Did the police question the prostitution ring that was noted as working in Escondido when Amber went missing ?? Not unlike them to be involved in kidnapping forced human servitude "slavery" and human trafficking.. Which would put Amber almost anywhere.. There is also the Mexican national angle that could put Amber South of the border.. Everyone is so corrupt down there.. People are being kidnapped and attacked by these people inside of the United States. The police need to do more then just waiting for the criminal to be delivered to them.. This is so frustrating and seems to be going nowhere.  Do you  know if the family has hired another PI?    If all the donations are going for rewards and searches, perhaps a separate account for an investigator would be useful. 

Your questions earlier about the local prostitution problem  and the possibility that a local pimp or whatever could have had a role in her disappearance need following up.     Those of us who live too far away to search might be able to donate to hire a PI.  I know I would, but they would have to approve of course.   What do think about that?

Please NCtimes post my message or have your reporters do some investigating. When I got the phone call that this poor little girl was missing I wanted to help the family so bad. I went to the candle light vigils I helped in the searches, I went to the fundraisers but when I started seeing their behavior I know now they are involved. Instead of "keeping all options open" EPD needs to focus on the family. I realized this listening to them and constantly refer to Amber in the past tense. When I first heard it I couldn't believe it, but they do it all the time. I then began to watch mom who has no signs of grief, instead she is always laughing and looks intoxicated. Check out Pounders any day at about 8 am and see who is in there drinking booze. The boyfriend stays in the background and seems angry or someone who is trying to hide something. Mo the dad, and Carrie the mom are both well known drug users. It would be sad if their little girl paid the price for their drug and alcohol addictions. Sex slave, I doubt it. Drug related incident YES! The family is the welcoming committee to Methcondido. I doubt the girl even walked to school that day. I think something happened at home and the family knows it. What family starts scheduling fund raisers months ahead when their little girl was only gone one week? and Where is that money going into their noses?? since the Jon Benet case, police all over are scared of looking at parents as suspects, in this case they have to. Otherwise it will go unsolved.

I believe the family needs to bring in another private investigator (Not Bill Garcia). This case desperately need investigators who have experience in solving missing person cases! I think the 22 yr old that fended off an attacker this morning at 9:00AM on a Friday Morning in Escondido could be a lead to who took Amber! They need to find that guy a.s.a.p. I am sure that Amber was taken at Gunpoint. I just know it. And this old creep could be the guy!

ESCONDIDO ---- A 22-year-old woman used a hot cup of coffee to fend off an armed assailant during a violent struggle in a parking lot Friday morning, police said.

The case is being treated as a carjacking and an attempted kidnapping, Lt. Neal Griffin said. The man responsible is considered armed and dangerous, he said.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the woman was unlocking her car in the parking lot of Albertson's grocery store on East Valley Parkway when a man approached her from behind, Lt. Neal Griffin said.

"She had a feeling that someone was behind her, and she used her window as a mirror and saw that someone was there," he said.

The attacker put a handgun to the woman's back and threatened to shoot her if she didn't get into the car, Griffin said.

The woman resisted and the carjacker struck her in the head with his gun during the ensuing struggle, Griffin said.

"He had her in the car," Griffin said. "He actually even said, 'You're going to drive,' or words to that effect."

The fight ended when the woman threw hot coffee in the carjacker's face and freed herself, he said.

The woman had dropped her keys in the fight, and the carjacker grabbed them before driving off in her car, Griffin said.

Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a black, two-door 1995 Toyota Celica with the California license plate 4ZMR484. The car has damage on the driver's door from a previous accident.

The carjacker was described as a tanned white man about 50 years old, 5'9" tall and 160 lbs., with short graying hair.

Griffin said residents should not try to interact with or detain the man.

Anyone who sees the car or the knows the wanted man should call 911, he said.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the owner of a truck that was seen on a surveillance camera near the time and place where Amber Dubois vanished two months ago.

The maroon or burgundy-colored pickup was driven through a bus maintenance yard at Escondido High School, where 14-year-old Amber Dubois attended, shortly after 7 a.m. Feb. 13, minutes before she went missing, according to police.

Investigators have generated no solid leads about what has become of the girl, an exemplary student with no history of running away from home.

Numerous searches of the area by groups of volunteers have likewise found no sign of where she might have gone.

In the security-camera footage, the reddish full-sized truck can be seen entering the school lot, where it is then parked for about three minutes before being driven back out the same driveway, onto North Broadway, Lt. Bob Benton said.

The pickup, which appears to be a late-model crew-cab model with four doors, is equipped with chrome parts, including wheels, running boards and bed rails, Benton said.

"Also, it appears from the video the tailgate is either missing or (modified) to accommodate a fifth-wheel trailer," the lieutenant said. "There is no further information such as license-plate or driver description."

The mother of missing Escondido teen Amber Dubois is hoping new surveillance video will help police find her daughter.

"Police are looking for a break and so are we," Carrie McGonigle said.

The video of a mysterious truck was taken from a surveillance system at Escondido High's maintenance yard.

McGonigle says for the past two months, police have been trying to determine who owns the truck and who was driving it the morning Amber disappeared.

"The police have ruled out all of the teachers and faculty associated with the school," McGonigle said.

Investigators say the truck is suspicious because it did not drop off any kids.

What makes the video so compelling is that it shows the truck entering the parking lot and then leaving at about the same time Amber was last seen walking by the parking lot on North Broadway, McGonigle said.

She believes two people may have been inside the truck, and they may have waited for Amber to walk by before abducting her.

"Maybe one said something to Amber, had some kind of weapon and the other guy was the driver," McGonigle said.

Escondido police Lt. Bob Benton described the truck as a newer full-size, four-door crew cab. It was spotted on a school surveillance camera about 7:10 a.m. Feb. 13 near the school's bus and maintenance yard on the north side of the campus, Benton said.

Police have said Dubois was last seen about 7:10 a.m. that day walking on Broadway just north of the school's football stadium, which is near the bus yard.

"We'd definitely like to contact the driver to see if they saw anything, if they know Amber or if they're connected to the investigation in any way," Benton said.

The video shows the truck entering the maintenance parking lot, stopping for about three minutes and then exiting from the same way back to Broadway.

The truck is described as burgundy or maroon and has chrome bed rails or tie-down rails with chrome running boards and wheels. It appears the tailgate is missing or the truck has a modified black tailgate to accommodate a fifth-wheel trailer.

There is no information on a license plate or driver description, police said.

Benton said police had identified nearly all other vehicles on surveillance footage in the area that morning as those of students or school employees. They have not been able to identify this truck, he said.

Police have classified Amber's case as a missing juvenile. Her parents have said they believe she was abducted by a stranger, though police have said they do not have enough information to prove whether she ran away or was abducted.

I watched the video and also chased it on the news - Klaas has the photo's from both vids posted.

IF LE can get a Blow up the Captions of Photos- on the Truck itself  (the Face of the Truck) - they will be able to determine the Make and Model by the Head Lamps.. that is for sure.
No Headlamp is the same - and it can be easily broken down within Newer Model vehicles. Being that it is a Large Truck ..even if its been modified " Headlamps" usually go untouched - If anything more " lamps" are added ...

I agree.. IF Searchers know of this vehicle early then they could be looking for a match while searching.. and DID Police from San Diego LOOK at ALL missing/stolen vehicles to see if this was one of them ? AND It is a true professional that knows WHEN to seek others help such as the F.B.I.

Don't the FBI /LE have access to the State Dept. of MOTOR Vehicle Registrations.

Shouldn't be too hard to do a search for a truck of that type and start eliminating.  My thought would be someone close....as being there at 7 AM. 

If you can get some names of maybe RV / Campgrounds in the area, I can go onto Google Earh, and take a look around.  However, not sure how updated some of the site is, as far as the most recent pics. 

Have they taken Amber's computer and checked for contact with people on MySpace and FAcebook...she may have been in contact with a stranger...and went willingly.

For what it is worth, I see a couple of people walking behind the bus in that parking lot just as the truck is pulling into the parking spot. They are at the front roof of the bus.
They look like they are looking at the truck.  I hope they spoke with LE.

That car sees the person in this truck. The car apparently drives into where the bus is parked.. Also at the end of the video you see a human being walking towards the bus..

There are people all around this pick up as it backs up and pulls forward and stops and then backs up and takes off..

 In the other video it does not show the pick up backing up ..Only moving forward and you do not see the white car or the people..The suspect pickup leaves in a forward motion in that video..

I just watched the video. It said...for locals only. I noticed a white car beside the truck. I wonder what, if anything the person/s saw and were able to tell police.

I noticed that late that night the video reappeared with less then what it had before..

The one thing I see is the pick up is first backing up and not just a little ..He backs up quite a bit and THEN he drives forward and the white car come in behind him and through the gate into where the bus was parked.. The pick up continues and parks facing the Bus. There was also somebody walking in the first video.
It is said that he sits there for 3 minutes and then takes off..

It is a BUS yard and not a school parking lot.. So nobody except the bus drivers and mechanics are supposed to park in that Yard.. It is early morning and LOTS of people are walking just outside of this driveway..


I am beginning to think that the supposed eye witnesses are full of baloney and that possibly NOBODY actually had seen her.. That would mean she could have been abducted ANYWHERE along her route from home to the school.

I just read this article about the search this weekend for Amber, but I see no followup information.  Guess they did not come up with anything new.     Searchers now number only about 30.   
 
It was good to see that Amber's father said he was shown the pictures of the truck at the school by the FBI.    Because of the proximity of the Mexico border, the FBI seems to me  the logical agency to lead the investigation.

It's been more than two months since Escondido teen Amber Dubois went missing and so far, investigators have no solid leads. But Amber's mother, Carrie McGonigle, is hoping that three "mediums" can help track down the 14-year-old girl.  "I believe they can help find her," she said.

The women unanimously agree that Amber did not run away, but is being held against her will. Two of them claim to have had "gut feelings" about an area called Gopher Canyon in North County.  But when they searched that area, nothing was found.

The women admit that there are people who are skeptical and question their intentions.  "We're doing this for free, at our own expense," said Pam.

 I have tried without success to get my point across to those who enforced the law, and to the news media as well, but encounters only with deaf ears and pessimistics comments. They probably thought that I am some kind of "Weirdo" making up my own story just to gain publicity. I am a parent myself who are after the welfare of my own community, both here and abroad. When the word "Paranormal" or "Psychic" was mentioned as to how this disappearance would be solved, authorities and non-believers alike just ignored the possibilites. Based on my calculations, Amber was abducted by at least four people, sexually assaulted her repeatedly inside a van. The route that must have been taken was from Valley Parkway to I-15 North, they exited at the Old 76 Road, head west to North Santa Fe Road, brought Amber's lifeless body to GUAJOME STATE PARKS, stuffed her body to a duffel bag, or a tent bag, buried her in the muddy area near the northwest trails. I highly recommended that the search party get some help from a sniffing dog, trained it to the scent of Amber.s clothing, go to the area I briefly described, and with God's divine intervention, this case would beover soon. Please be advised that whoever did this cruelty crime to Amber are monitoring all the activities being carried out, including this website to avoid being detected. I have contacted well-known Psychics and Astrologers to evaluate my findings, but it'll only take a few dedicated people to the area I pinpointed to verify my lead. thank you and God bless.

I think the big problem here is there are 2 camps. The ones who think she ran away, and the ones who think she was abducted (me). I really think the ones who think she ran away are doing so in order to divert the reality of the worst happening.

Amber was probably naive as any 14 year old can be. If..and that is a big IF she knew her abducter via computer communication, we all know she certainly did not see the danger.

I do not think Amber chose to leave her family and her life behind. She did not leave of her own free will. I think of her every day. When I am out in the community, I look for the red truck with the missing or altered tailgate.

Surely the local police learned something from the Stephanie Crow case. Please God, do not let our LE make assumptions. I fear they did, and I fear it is too late.

Here is another thing that bothers me and I know it can't be helped. A child walks to school as many children do. Teacher calls roll and Jane Doe is not in her seat (elem school). Middle and upper school begins process of reporting non attendance in each class to main office. School calls parents and a message is left on machine. Chances are parent is not at home and does not receive message until they arrive home because they have left for work or could be running their errands. Hours have passed. This is what happened in Ambers case. That is one reason why an Amber (ironic) alert was not put out. Nobody saw an abduction, the school implemented their normal procedure for non attendance and precious moments leading into hours passed.  ::MonkeyWaa::

Not far from Escondido is a huge desert.. Police believe there are thousands of bodies in that desert and they do in fact come across them quite frequently..

Denial is a terrible thing.. It will make people procrastinate in looking for the obvious..

A North County teenager is in the hospital after being attacked in her home and repeatedly stabbed. The 14-year-old Escondido victim is in serious condition, according to our media partner the North County Times.

Two teenaged girls have been arrested by Escondido police. As of Sunday night, investigators were still looking for a third suspect, a boy.

The victim was home alone and called 911 after getting stabbed several times, police said.

She was taken to Palomar Medical center, then airlifted to Rady Children's hospital.

Neighbors said the girl lives with her grandmother and mother. Esteben Arredondo, who lives next door to the teenager, said she's a student at Hidden Valley Middle School.

The Escondido police gang unit is investigating this attack but it has not been determined that it's gang-related.

It is possible that teenagers, friends or rivals, attacked Amber and disposed of her body.

I agree with you Edward.  Amber did not leave at her own free will.  This is scary.  What in the world goes on in Escondito? In MIDDLE SCHOOL?  From what I have read about Amber, she was a good student and a good kid.  Bad kids unfortunately don't like the good kids.  That would make sense why none of the other students reported seeing anything.  Any new leads on the pickup truck?  JMO, Lovinlife

Why is Amber in High scool at 14 and the other girl who was knife attacked at age 14 was in middle school ?

Edward... It depends on what age she started going to school.  My daughter started kinder at age 6, while most kids start at age 5.  Other reasons could be that Amber skipped a grade or maybe the girl who was attacked flunked a grade.  More than likely it's because the age they started going to school.

I didn't finish what I was saying and ooops, I posted it...

Anyhow, because my daughter started kinder at age 6 she is the same age as the class ahead of her, so when she is in the 8th grade (middle school), she will be the same age as her friends that are now in 9th grade (high school out here).  I hope I am making sense.

ESCONDIDO — The search for missing teenager Amber Dubois will continue on Mother’s Day weekend, but not on the day itself.

“It’s a really hard time for us,” Maurice Dubois, Amber’s father said. He will be in Escondido again for the weekend, staffing the search center, as volunteers once again head out to scour the city looking for the 14-year-old who went missing Feb. 13, outside Escondido High School.

Amber was last reported seen just a few hundred yards from the school gates at about 7:10 a.m. that day. A neighbor and friend of the family reported seeing her just north of the school district operations center driveway, on Broadway. Police released a school surveillance video on April 23 which showed a burgundy truck pulling into that operations center parking lot, parking for approximately three minutes, and quickly exiting the parking lot around the time of Amber’s disappearance. They are asking the public for information about the truck. Police have been looking for clues about it since February.

“It was right there, right then,” Dubois said. “That’s why it was so eye-catching to police. The police think Amber was taken between 7:10 and 7:13 a.m..”

Dubois said it is believed that Amber hadn’t yet reached the driveway when she was last seen. Police have said construction trucks were parked south of that driveway, toward the school gates, which would have blocked passersby from seeing much of the sidewalk where Amber would have been walking. No one has reported seeing Amber enter the school gates that morning.

On Monday night, parents of Escondido High School students received a phone message from principal Sue Emerson, saying that Dubois had requested, by letter, that all parents talk to their students about that morning. The message said that many students at the school had been interviewed, but that Dubois wants every child questioned by a parent, in case any further information can be gleaned.

“Parents can tell if a child is holding something back, or lying,” Dubois told San Diego News Network. I could always tell if Amber was holding back from telling me something. I want kids to know that they can call San Diego Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous message and there’s no way that message can be traced back to whoever left it.”

Dubois’s letter, posted as a PDF in English and Spanish on the school’s Web site, asks parents “for a few minutes of your time to talk to your children about Amber and see if they know anything that may help us find our daughter.”

This weekend’s search will be conducted somewhere “within about a 10-mile radius of the school,” Dubois said. The exact search areas aren’t disclosed to the family. A mapper chooses the areas and works in coordination with the Escondido Police Department, he said.

Amber’s website gives a phone number for anyone with questions about the reward. 1 562 360 5162. It has new information about the rewards. The family continues the search for Amber, but the family needs to know if she has already been murdered. If she is now dead, a reward of $10,000 will be paid for the burial location.

After the knife incident on the 14 year old girl by other kids..
All these kids need to be looked at by there own parents for information of knowledge of Amber..

No doubt about it.

I am really impressed by the campaign for Amber.  These people absolutely will not just be quiet and go away!

    I am a letter carrier in Escondido CA. I am helping with the search for Amber Dubois who went missing in Escondido on 2/13/09. I have friends in the post office looking for her and other agencies as well including most of the Water District Meter Readers in San Diego County along with other organizations.

    I am reaching out to your organization because I want to get the word out about some new information regarding Amber’s disappearance. I’m sure you are sick and tired of this trend of missing teens. We need people to report underage prostitution in San Diego and San Bernardino County so we can flush Amber Dubois out if indeed this is the case. I’ve asked the Diocese of San
    Diego for help and asked them to report any underage prostitution in the parishes, etc. and they sent me an email stating they don’t get involved in that because it is a law enforcement issue.

    It sounds like you have great experience in these situations regarding exploited youth on Craigslist and probably have several contacts and law enforcement friends that you can send this email to.

    There have been several arrests made in this area regarding Craigslist prostitution and there is a chance that is what happened to Amber.

    There are plenty of missing girls in CA. and some of the cases could be related.

    I’ve went as far to email the Attorney General outlining my concerns and asking why brothels and other places of prostitution are not being raided especially when it is clear the girls and boys are underage. Needless to say I did not hear back.

    I also asked why they don’t shut down the Craigslist Erotic Services site in California. Even went as far as to ask him to bring suit against them in the names of the little girls who were returned home..no answer.

    What I wanted to ask is if you could visit Amber’s website at www.bringamberhome.com and go to the flyer page. There you will find the flyer with her information and info regarding a $60,000 reward. I want to know if it is possible to print off a few flyers and hang them up and brief your members of the situation and also send an email to all your loyal contacts in a least CA and AZ and ask them for help as well. If you can’t print out the flyers, email me back with the amount of flyers that your organization would need and I will forward the email to the command center and have them mailed out to you asap. Also there are new clues just released

    This seems like a rather easy way to have several professional people looking for her. Letter carriers are the eyes and ears on the street but it is not enough. Your contacts are probably enormous and cover many industries and have wide ranging impact. Can you just imagine how many eyes would be looking for this little girl?? Unfortunately Rob is correct, there has been some child prostitution activity in the San Diego area recently as it relates to craigslist. I can’t say for certain that’s what happened to Amber but I wouldn’t be surprised. The other unfortunate thing is that I don’t really have any contacts in law enforcement especially in the California and Arizona areas.

What I do have are loyal readers and other bloggers who would be more than happy to help get the word out.

Grandma was very realistic.. It truly was very sad to read her post.. But it needed to be said and she stepped up.
She is a great woman and big support for her family in keeping them grounded and prepared to receive news one way or the other..

I am Amber's maternal Grandmom.  Carrie and her sisters and I, work every single day and night to find Amber. On Wednesday, it will be three horrific months since she was taken from us.  Yet, no Amber Alert has issued because no one saw where or when she was taken.  Two parents driving by the school, on a street with construction vehicles, on a rainy day said they saw Amber walking to school.  Amber sent a text message to me before she left for school.  But, in fact, no one really knows when or where, between the house and the school, she was taken. The report that she called another student on her way to school is incorrect.  Amber's phone is on my phone system and no such call was made.

During the five days before she was taken, Amber and I exchanged over 70 text messages.  She was happy.  She left for school that day, as reported, with gifts for girlfriends and a check to pay for a lamb.  She took her Ipod and her phone, but did not take the cords...because she knew she would be home before they needed recharging. 

As she does each year, Amber spent Christmas holiday with me and her cousins.  It rained very hard and all 5 of us slopped through the mud at the stable to give Christmas carrots to the horses, Rojo and Sally.  Amber did not get to ride because of the weather and was looking forward to coming to my house to do so in February.  We had plans in June to go to Yellowstone to see the wolves, having followed the restoration  progress for several years. 

The Yellowstone newsletter arrived yesterday.  It uses the description by Aldo Leopold to describe the music of the wolf as an "outburst of wild defiant sorrow."  I know that feeling now. You try to maintain, and, then you are hit with an uncontrollable  sorrow that is almost more than one can survive.

We know that Amber was taken by force.  If someone walked next to her with a gun or a knife, she would have gone with them quietly in the hope of a later escape.  She is an intelligent girl.  She knows basic self defense, but she is not athletic and trying to run away would have been a futile act.  She may have been threatened...make a scene and I will see that your little sister is killed, or, I have a gun and if you don't come quietly, I will start shooting at all these students and you will be the cause of their death.   Criminals know how to frighten.

The police take the position that people would have seen Amber if she was forced into a car or van.  It takes 17 seconds.  She would have gone quietly under a death threat, particularly, if the person threatened to start shooting everyone around her---she knew about school shootings, as we all do, sadly.

The Escondido Police Department retains the lead in the investigation.  This is the most complex case they have ever had and they do NOT have the manpower, the experience or the modern equipment needed. They are trying, for the most part, but it is like trying to build a house with just an old fashion nail and hammer. To do the job, you need manpower, experience and the right tools.  And, while we watch TV and see great things done by the FBI, beyond initial interviews of family members, I personally know of nothing more that the FBI has been willing to do to find Amber.  The FBI has NOT EVEN put, at this writing, Amber's photo and ID on their "Kidnapping and Missing Persons Investigations" website.

Unlike the police who admit to no experience, the FBI claims they have "agents with in-depth experience and a proven track record in crimes against children investigations, especially where a child has been abducted by someone other than family member." [www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/cac/kidnap.htm] The police have now agreed to regularly meet with the family, the FBI does not participate or interface with the family at all. 

I have seen negative comments relating to why Amber gets media coverage.  It is because we work at it day and night.  Some nights, I am working on the computer asking for help until 3 a.m.  The volunteer groups that have helped us thus far have done so because of e-mails, and calls to them.  We have been blessed by others sending messages to our website offering specialized help.  None of this happens by magic. Maurice, Amber's Dad, takes the lead at the Search Center activity and with the press.  My daughters set up the website and manage it. We respond to the emails and send "tips" to the police when received. More importantly, we do the research relating getting help and to scientific advances...most of which neither the police nor the FBI have or know about. And, it takes hours every day.

Amber's Mom, Carrie, in addition to searching night and day for Amber, has started formal training for Search and Rescue (SAR) with a fast growing puppy. She is determined to be able to help others when they lose a child by responding with her soon to be well trained dog.  Carrie was inspired by the volunteers, particularly those from KlaasKids,  who were the first responders to our pleas for help.  We needed to get immediate help with trained dogs, but were told by the police that "it takes time" to get the dogs, when, in truth, time was something no one has when their child is missing. Carrie wants to be there when the next child goes missing. 

You are likely aware of spy satellite surveillance.  NASA will take requests for help for missing children but only from police agencies.  It took weeks to get EPD to actually contact NASA even though I provided the information and an example of the evidence NASA had provided in other missing children cases.  Ultimately, NASA had nothing which would help us. Satellites are sun-synchronous for images so they are taken at local time around 10:30 a.m., too late for us.

Subsequently, we have been working for the past weeks on what we call  "Eye on Amber" and I would like to ask for your help with this. We have contacted all the commercial (vs spy) companies we can find to ask if they had any aerial cameras operating in the Escondido area on February 13, 2009. It is like the needle in the haystack--the chances of finding someone in the air doing photography at between 7:00 a.m. -7:30 a.m. But, we must keep trying.

We have an expert on forensic aerial photography (forensic aerial photogrammertry and forensic aerial photointerpretation) available to analyze any photos we can locate to determine what ACTUALLY happened to Amber. 

Also, if you are a student, the parent of a student, a teacher, or anyone who worked at EHS and used a phone camera or camera ANYWHERE on the campus before school started on Feb. 13, 2009, please send us the photos.

If you can help us, or, if you know of anyone who can, please contact our website www. BringAmberHome.com .

Second request.  This is so hard to say.  If you see any place within a 20 mile radius of the Escondido High School where the earth has been dislodged, or changed by digging, please take a photo of the area and send that information with the location to us.
We are also asking for current aerial photographs for analysis as well. Previous drone photographs were undistinguished.

Though we do not want to consider the possibility that Amber may no longer be alive, we must force ourselves to do so even as we continue our search.  If she is dead,  the family needs to know and to provide a proper burial for her.  If you see something suspicious, please let us know.   

The rewards for information are fully funded and in the bank. Reward information can be obtained by calling 1-562 360-5162.  This is a new number and is posted on the web site as well.  If Amber is dead, there is a reward of $10,000.00 for the location of her burial. This has not been publicized before.  Please get this information out there for us.

As far as media attention, it is always up to the family to push for it.  You are doing the right thing by trying to keep it in the news, on Nancy Grace, etc. 

I pray every day the Amber finds a way to escape and hope she can be located soon.  It's been way too long.

 During the five days before she was taken, Amber and I exchanged over 70 text messages.  She was happy. 
Amber sent a text message to me before she left for school.

She left for school that day, as reported, with gifts for girlfriends and a check to pay for a lamb.

Two parents driving by the school, on a street with construction vehicles, on a rainy day said they saw Amber walking to school.

No Amber Alert has issued because no one saw where or when she was taken.

Fact, no one really knows when or where, between the house and the school, she was taken.

The report that she called another student on her way to school is incorrect.  Amber's phone is on my phone system and no such call was made.

She took her Ipod and her phone, but did not take the cords.

We know that Amber was taken by force. She is an intelligent girl.  She knows basic self defense. but she is not athletic and trying to run away would have been a futile act.




The Escondido Police Department retains the lead in the investigation.
The police take the position that people would have seen Amber if she was forced into a car or van.  It takes 17 seconds.
This is the most complex case they have ever had and they do NOT have the manpower, the experience or the modern equipment needed.

Unlike the police who admit to no experience....

 The FBI claims they have "agents with in-depth experience and a proven track record in crimes against children investigations, especially where a child has been abducted by someone other than family member."
The FBI, beyond initial interviews of family members, I personally know of nothing more that the FBI has been willing to do to find Amber.  The FBI has NOT EVEN put, at this writing, Amber's photo and ID on their "Kidnapping and Missing Persons Investigations" website.

The fact that you and Amber communicated so often really touched me. How many teenagers are sweet and thoughtful enough to maintain such a line of communication? My guess is not so many and Amber was special that way. I think about her heading to school with her Valentine gifts for her friends. Amber, the giver. The kind hearted.

I would like to know if there is an inhanced picture of the truck that was shown in the video and is of interest? I keep my eyes peeled looking at every maroon truck I see when I am out in the area.  I would really like to know what characteristics I am looking for. I think they said..altered or missing tailgate? Is there any more information you can share with us? I wish there was something else I could do. May God guide and comfort you and your family.

  I want you to know that my heart breaks for you and the entire family. We live not very far from where Amber was last seen. My daughter and I have attempted to find out info on searches in the area on the weekends and didn't have good success with accurate info from Escondido police.  I should have known to check in the forum here but I didn't. Now that I know there is an updated thread here, we will definately want to help. If there is anything that we can do please post the location , time date etc.  My daughter's husband and their family have off road type vehicles (quads, minibikes)  and all of those guys would probably help too.  I'm sorry that we didn't try harder earlier but frankly EPD wasn't very "up" on what was going on and where to find out.  I'll check in here everyday from now on.

Please know that our prayers are with all of you and we want Amber to come home to her loving family.

WebSleuths has also been doing some good research and one of its members has also done some nice work with the truck image and comparrisons..
That member did say he/she had forwarded them onto ambers family..

Also that member noted a vehicle in sacramento area of california "Auburn" Where a red picup was noted in a police report and its occupant a whaite male who tried to abduct a 16 year old girl..

The tailgate missing indicating a possible 5th wheel..as maybe this person travels and stays in parks..

Also the williams character was in a stolen vehicle... Was there any red trucks listed with police from san diego as being stolen in and around that time..
One of my main reasons for focus on Williams is his early morning attack on the 16 year old girl.. As well as his insisting his face not be shown on court cameras..
He was found and arrested in san diego but he attacked the girl in El Cajon.

A list of stolen vehicles at that time would be nice.. recovered red pick ups would be better.

Very true - WebSleuths have done excellent work!  We forward any tips received to LE.  I don't personally have data on stolen vehicles similar to the one of interest - one would think that it is being investigated.  We can leave no stone unturned in our search for Amber and all of the Missing.

There has been a lot of missing people over the years.. I have seen great detectives and lost detectives..
Make your own case file.. Make it better and more organized then anything the police own..Ask questions of police and demand answers.
Be willing to go out of your way to get what info you can without putting yourself in danger or by breaking any laws to get the info..
If you are hoping they are looking into something, you may be very disappointed to find out they have not.

Some searchers fanned out north of Escondido on Saturday to look for 14-year-old Amber Dubois. Thirty to 40 people a day are involved in searches, compared with up to 200 during the first weeks since Amber's disappearance.


ESCONDIDO — As public attention about missing Escondido teenager Amber Dubois wanes, her family's angst grows and their faith in the police investigation diminishes.
Three months ago today, the 14-year-old disappeared. Two days ago, her mother, Carrie McGonigle, e-mailed Escondido Police Chief Jim Maher. She asked him to bring in an outside team of missing-children experts to review the 12 to 15 binders of information accumulated in the investigation thus far.
“I want the experts to go through the case from the beginning to see what the police have missed,” McGonigle said. “There was stuff they didn't touch, things they didn't do, mistakes they made.”
She said the department, which is down 11 officers because of Escondido's budget crisis, had to ask staff members of the Alexandria, Va.-based National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to help type transcripts on Amber's case into a computer.
Members of the center's staff were in Escondido during the first few weeks of Amber's disappearance to help police search for her.
“Are they reading back through all the transcripts?” McGonigle asked. “I feel they haven't even had a chance to go back through the case all the way through, and they are not experts on missing children.”
Yesterday, Escondido Police Lt. Craig Carter said he will meet with McGonigle this morning to discuss her concerns.
“The Dubois case is a high-priority case for us,” Carter said. “I can understand why she may have frustrations. We'll have a quick coffee. Anything she thinks we have not covered, we will address it.”
The police will hold a news conference at 7 p.m. today at a candlelight vigil for Amber outside her school, Escondido High, at 1535 N. Broadway.
Police have received hundreds of tips. About 200 concerned a maroon or burgundy pickup recorded by a surveillance camera near Escondido High on Feb. 13, around the time Amber disappeared while headed to school. The tips have not led to any suspects.
Police also have been alerted to numerous possible sightings of the teen. For some of them, investigators viewed surveillance tapes, Carter said, but none has panned out.
Police have issued more than 60 search warrants to owners of computers, servers and Web sites that were involved in Amber's Internet use, said her father, Maurice Dubois. Carter said he was not certain how many search warrants have been filed.
Information that was disseminated nationwide by the national missing children's center also has not resulted in anything significant, center President Ernie Allen said.
In the meantime, donated Amber Dubois billboards on Interstate 8 and state Route 163 have been removed.
The number of volunteers searching for her on weekends in and around Escondido has dwindled from more than 200 during the first three weeks after she was reported missing to 30 to 40 a day now.
“I'm absolutely concerned,” McGonigle said. “I know things die down.”
McGonigle, who has a younger daughter, said she couldn't make it to the search center Saturday because she was grief-stricken about Amber's absence on Mother's Day weekend.
The mood among the volunteers that day was a little more upbeat.
Scott Pfaucht, 40, of Escondido, led a group up a small hill in north Escondido searching for clues. They found nothing, but pressed ahead.
“Children have been missing for years, and people have found them alive,” said volunteer Leora Slocum. “I'm hopeful she's alive – until we find out differently.”
Even if the searches have come up empty, Amber's disappearance has focused attention on missing children, San Diego Police Detective Gary Hassen said.
“It heightens the attention of everybody – law enforcement, schools – for everybody, for kids,” he said.

ESCONDIDO - Friends and family of missing Escondido teenager Amber Dubois were expected to hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday night to mark the three- month anniversary of her disappearance.

The 14-year-old was last seen walking to Escondido High School the morning of Feb. 13. Since then, Escondido police said they have received hundreds of tips in the case but none have panned out.

Many of those tips involved an unaccounted-for reddish full-sized pickup truck seen on surveillance video in a maintenance yard at Escondido High around the time Dubois went missing.

Numerous searches involving hundreds of volunteers have taken place -- with no success. In the first three weekends following the disappearance, more than 200 volunteers searched for Dubois in and around Escondido. Since then, the number of searchers has dwindled to about 30 to 40 volunteers.

Police said Dubois is an exemplary student with no history of running away from home. In the week leading to her disappearance, Dubois was more active than usual in online chats, according to police, who have issued several dozen search warrants for computers, servers and Web sites but have not reported finding anything significant.

Earlier this week, Amber's mother, Carrie McGonigle, e-mailed Escondido Police Chief Jim Maher, asking him to bring in an outside team of missing- children experts to review the 12 to 15 binders of information accumulated in the investigation, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

"I want the experts to go through the case from the beginning to see what the police have missed," McGonigle told the newspaper. "There was stuff they didn't touch, things they didn't do, mistakes they made."

ESCONDIDO – About 50 people gathered in front of Escondido High School on Wednesday night to pray for the safe return of Amber Dubois and to ask everyone to help find the missing 14-year old girl.
Amber disappeared Feb. 13, three months ago Wednesday, while walking to school shortly after 7 a.m.

Despite nearly a thousand tips and an extensive investigation, police appear to be no closer to finding out what happened to Amber, who continues to be classified by law enforcement as a missing juvenile – not a runaway and not necessarily a victim of abduction.  ::MonkeyEek::

“These have been very difficult days for us,” said Amber's father, Maurice Dubois.
“We need this out nationwide,” said her mother, Carrie McGonigle. “Amber could be anywhere in this world.” 

Some in the crowd held signs reading, “Escondido Police Have You Done Enough?” and “What if it were your kid?”

Escondido police Lt. Craig Carter said he understood the frustration those closest to Amber feel. But he defended his department and said the case has been a high priority since it began.
“We have had a large group of people working on this,” Carter said. “We have the resources available. If you bring in more leads we will look into them.

“We would certainly like to have a solid lead, a person of interest, a location,” he said. “And we're missing that.”

After meeting with the Amber's parents Wednesday morning for two hours, police decided to invite the FBI and the nonprofit National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to review about 15 binders of documents.  ::MonkeyDance::
“It makes sense; we have no issue with that,” Carter said. “We will reach out to both those agencies.”

Carter said he hopes the review will be finished in the next few weeks. Both the FBI and the national center have been involved in the search for Amber since the early stages, he said, but police are hoping they might find something that may have been overlooked.
 
Amber's parents have maintained that their daughter wouldn't have run away, and that it is completely out of character for her not to have checked in.

Every possible sighting of Amber has been investigated, Carter said, and the family's computers have been examined to see if Amber may have been in contact with a predator. “As a result of the (computer) search there is nothing alarming for us. We're not focusing on it,” he said.
Police have also been working with Mexican officials on the chance that Amber was abducted and taken south of the border, Carter said. However, nothing has come of that either.

Following the brief news conference in front of the school the crowd gathered in a circle with lit candles in their hands and prayed.

This is what is understood to be Amber's usual route.  "Eyewitnesses" have reported that Amber was last seen walking on the "school side" of Broadway - which means she would've crossed the street at Vista.  The truth is she could have been taken along any point of this route - IMHO

I will have to do this on google earth when I get home, But I can see where there are a couple of places during this walk to school where she could have been approached on vista without anybody paying attention..A field and a business parking lot where the culprit could have been sitting in his car in wait.. or just drove up next to her and pointed a weapon at her and told her to get in his car.

We are completely on your side..
 You do live in Escondido and WE do not, and I am just trying to get a perspective for all of us so that we can begin to understand what YOU already know all to well. Your streets and town are common to you but many of our members, me included have never been to Escandido.
One thing I am positive of ..
 Some creep was able to get a hold on Amber without anyone seeing it. Having some idea WHERE that may have occurred gives all of us a starting point. I just happened to notice the Business and the playing field with parking lots on both sides of the street..

This is a possible place for an abduction. I am looking at it from the perspective that the other witness who claims to have seen amber may have been incorrect. A rain day, construction trucks that should have construction people near and a very busy street that the high school is located on leads me to consider that the witness MAY have been mistaken.
This photo is of that area on Vista drive... Amber would have to walk through this area to get to the high school..
Amber is 14.. Does the high school run from 8th grade to 12th grade ?

In the abve photo on the right side is actually a school parking lot .. What is the name of that school ?
There should have been plenty of people at that school ?

Amber would have to walk past entry to bus yard to get to school.. Or walk down the bus yard access driveway to go to animal area.

Thank you Edward for the maps.  I waited to post incase you had more, I didn't want to get in the middle.  Can you get an estimated spot of the Burgandy truck?  Would the truck have to exit onto N. Broadway or is there an alternate exit?  And also, where was Amber last seen and which direction was she headed.  (I tried to read back and find, I really did!)

The bus yard is where the burgundy/red truck was on surveillance video..
Where exactly in that parking lot I am not sure.. BUT In that video the Burgundy/red truck is first seen backing up a long distance before going forward and then parking facing the bus maintenance yard, where we see a man walking around.. Also the small white car that comes into the bus parking yard..
WHY was the pickup backing up like that ?? then drives forward and parks.. Like he was trying to get something under control while he was parked out of view of others ??
Like trying to get Amber under control ??

One of the posters at web sleuths has some very good still images of the white car and the man walking in the bus yard. I know he/said said the images were sent to the family, I do not think it would be polite of me to bring the images over here without that posters permission.

That white car may have seen the occupant of the burgundy/red pick up and the man walking appears to be behind the bus and may not have had any view of the pickup in question.
The area appears to be very busy..

One thought I had is IF Amber went to the animal yard before going to school, it appears she would have to walk through this bus area parking lot to get to the animal area. The spot behind the baseball stadium looks to be a vulnerable spot for her if that was so.
The main street looks very busy with houses across the street and possible many people walking to school..
 
So that leaves 2 possible locations for somebody to approach amber and threaten her to get into a vehicle. One on Vista, although that also appears to be a school.. and the other location near the animal area.. Both spots could be out of view of others under the correct circumstances..

I do believe somebody has seen something.. The white car..The houses across the street.. the parking lots on vista Dr. There must be some sort of witness who has not considered what they witnessed as having something to do with this case yet. I pray they come to some sort of awareness to what they may have seen and call it into police.

Parents in the Poway Unified School District are on the lookout for a suspicious white van. The van was seen recently stalking a first grader and a seventh grader.

Sabre Springs resident Brett Hanavan keeps track of crime in his area through a neighborhood watch email string. Recently he started to see a pattern.

"Seems like there's been some similar situations with a white van - the same details, the same suspicious nature," Hanavan said.

Two recent incidents involving a white Ford van with three Hispanic men inside happened in Torrey Highlands. On March 12, the mother of a seven-year-old girl dropped off by a school bus near Torrey Meadows Drive and Torrey Santa Fe Road reported the white van following her daughter.

"The van was noticed by one of the moms. The kid escaped to the mom, and the van took off allegedly ran a red light in doing so," Hanavan said.

I concur with your observation that the witnesses may have been mistaken, not only was it busy and rainy - Amber was wearing a hoodie and more likely than not - may have had the hood on due to the precipitation - we don't know.  EHS is 9-12 I believe - Amber is in 9th grade.

Edward... Thanks for the maps.  I have been wondering about any shortcuts to school Amber might take.  Just thinking that walking all the way around the block is not the way I (back in the olden days) would have gone.  We always took the main street a block, then an alley, then the back and side yard of a couple who would shout at us.  So I wondered if there was some impediment to cutting through the block?   

Also, I was wondering if there is a realtors' map of vacant houses in a say 5 mile radius. 
each one should be entered and searched.   It seems possible that the school witnesses may be remembering another day, or missing the identification.   Probably the family has this covered, but better to ask.   Perhaps some local Realtors could be of assistance.

I don't recall the exact name of the school on Vista - I know it's an elementary school that did not have any video surveillance equipment - we will reconfirm with LE the extent of their investigation for any possible witnesses at that location the morning of Amber's disappearance.

As far as shortcuts - I'm with you - as a kid I never took a direct and obvious route - shortcuts were much better!  This is Amber's first year at this school - and it's not the neighborhood she grew up in - so I would suspect that she did not take shortcuts to the school - but there's always a chance that I'm wrong.

Like if she cut across the parking lot on the south corner of Vista and Broadway..Maybe the perp was Parked in that parking lot.?
 The perp may not know that area well and drove into the bus parking area by mistake..? He may have parked for the moment in the bus lot to get her under control.. Then he leaves..

Convenience store and Gas station video and traffic light surveillance videos from that date 20 miles in every direction.. I know that is a big task..But that should have happened 3 months ago.. Many of those videos do not exist today.

This parking lot short cut..

The black line represents the vaunerable zones. Where it COULD have happened. Showing the short cut across the parking lot.

I mean POSSIBLE shortcut as I have not stood there yet, to see if that is possible..

I came up with a similar (or the same) shortcut possiblity - using google map street view to rule out visibly fenced in areas.  It appears that there is access thru the church parking lot.

I see, if she cuts through the parking lot and crosses with no intersection she still has a few hundred yards to walk before arriving at the Bus parking lot driveway. Walking along on the west side of Broadway, which appears to be a very busy street.

It is very possible this is where the actual abduction occurs with no witness.
The perp could have noticed students walking to school and just sat there and waited for an opportunity like a predator would do.

I believe that is correct - because I've heard reports that the "creek" area by the school was thoroughly searched.

Amber did not take shortcuts because the ONLY safe place to cross Broadway to get to school was at the light at Vista.  She crossed there and then walked on the school side of Broadway.  She was not fond of running. To cross in the middle of the street would require one to run, or, get run over.

We continue to look for aerial photos for that day.  Eye witness testimony is questionable (although these are 2  good people) given the weather, the construction and the number of students walking to school. Her family has both walked and driven the street at the relevant time.  I drove it before the Vigil on Wed.   Traffic was light.  Could I have identified any of the teens I saw walking along Broadway, absolutely not?  I can say they were girls with long brown hair.  They were not wearing hoodies and it was NOT raining .

The EPD stated directly to my question as to how strongly they believed in the 2 eye witness testimoney that they were 90% positive that Amber got as far as the driveway to her school based on their testimony. NO facts support this.  Police state that they checked when the children of these 2 witnesses entered the school and the time frame "matched."  When I pointed out that the time frame would match WHETHER OR NOT they actually saw Amber because those two students DID arrive safely, the EPD concluded that was not significant.  That conclusion fails in reason in my opinion.

Amber's Mom and I continue to be of the belief that she could have been taken anywhere on Fire Mountain or down the  street to Broadway.  There are FEW people out and about at that hour.  If Amber was set up to be grabbed, as we believe she was, the perps would know he/they had a better shot at her before she neared the school.

It was raining.  If she KNEW a person, or a neighbor, who said jump in and I will give you a ride, she might have done that to keep dry...but, then, he (they) would not let her go.  All they would need to do is drive to the right on Broadway to avoid the school area.

On the other hand, the perps could stop on Paradise and have her in a vehicle in 17 seconds.

My daughter, Lisa, has been answering some of your queres and we will certainly try to stay current.

Do I believe you can help us?  YES.  As Agatha might say, please keep your little grey cells working for Amber.

FYI:  I do keep notebooks and comprehensive files on everything that I can get my hands on re: Amber.  I am a trial attorney and very detailed oriented.  But, this is too big for one lawyer, one family, one city and certainly, one police department.  PLEASE continue to help us. I have a question. Amber's dad wrote a letter stating it was Friday and he should on the way to the train station to pick Amber up. Did she take the train every Friday? Is this a commuter train where the same people are on it every day? Did she talk with anyone on the train that you know of? maybe she divulged what school she went to? that person would not be a stranger and she would trust getting a ride in the rain, just a thought...

The possibility that someone who knew Amber at least casually, targeted her and perhaps is keeping her in town is possibly the best scenario.  That is why I keep looking in the neighborhood.

I have taken a look at both sites..They actually the same site and there are many real estate sites like them listing foreclosed homes..

There is good reason for your thinking as vacant homes could be used for such things ...

In a crimes blog, a page or 2 back, In San Diego there is one crime report listed where a 14 year old girl is taken into a foreclosed home and murdered.. It was over a year ago.. Still nobody has been arrested..It was brutal.
There are many many vacant homes.. I would think a realtor would eventually come across something..


The Realtors do not use helicopters to take aerial shots of these homes they use Google and other map sites and they steal the images we are seeing on there advertising.
Ariel photos are becoming more rare by the day because of Google and others who are using Satellite images make very little work for private pilots who used to go around taking Ariel photos for a living..
The police use Ariel photography on there helicopters..
So does the electric company when they are doing line work..
News media uses on-off cameras too.
Some construction companies still pay for progress images on large construction projects..

Finding a satellite of Escondido on Feb 13 2009 is one long shot.
They are usually time delayed.

I Consider it very possible that Amber was already in the Pick Up When it is seen on Video. She would have been walking to the animal area of the school by walking down the Bus yard driveway when approached by the driver of the red pick up. He could have just pointed a weapon at her and told her to get in..

This is an amazing video. The video shows just exactly how much time was spent in the parked position by the pick up..
I have to consider that it is very possible that This is where the perp is getting control of Amber..

  In other videos it shows this pick up backing up a long way across the parking lot..

This video does not show the pick up backing up. The backing up tells me the person in the pick up is not comfortable, and is looking for another spot on the parking lot out of sight of others. The yellow bus is in front of the pick up and blocks view as to what is going on inside of the pick up.

It does show the man walking to the bus, which appears to make the person in the pick up take off.
It also shows the white car, Who enters the area where the bus is parked.. Who may also have been witness to whom was driving the pick up. The smallest amount of info from the driver of the white car could be very helpful..

The day 14-year old Amber Dubois disappeared, she was carrying a check for $200 to buy a lamb. She never made the purchase.

Amber vanished on February 13th as she walked to Escondido High School and hasn't been seen since. But what has become of the lamb, who Amber had named 'Nanette'?

In the month's that Amber disappeared, Nanette has been cared for by the Agricultural club at Escondido High School, according to Amber's father Maurice Dubois. The school has incurred the cost of boarding and caring for the lamb.

Now, the plan is for the lamb to be auctioned off at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar. Any profits made from the sale will be given to the Amber Search Center.

There is at least one person who is hoping she can win the auction.

Amber's niece Kelly is hoping to raise enough money to buy the lamb herself and keep it in the family. She says if she's able to raise enough money, she'll keep the lamb at a farm or petting zoo with the hopes of one day giving it to Amber.

"To me, Nanette is a symbol that Amber is going to come home and I just want Amber to see her little lamb that she was so anxious to see that morning she disappeared," said Kelly.

The road behind the handler of the lamb looks pretty busy ..
Is she in the animal area of the high school ? Or at another place?

There is only 2 spots which appear to have vulnerable positions..

 Although along Broadway there is a couple of spots that appear to also be positions in which a vehicle could pull over and make some fast move out of sight from most people in the area, He/They Could have pulled over and pointed a weapon at her and told her to get in..
and maybe this is what happened.. I will not discount that idea..
This could have happened after the bus parking lot in front of the sports stadium as the houses across the street have fences and views are limited..
This is also within range of what other witnesses have said they had seen.. She would have been 200-300 yards from the main school entrance.


But other then that I have 2 areas that are without a doubt out of sight areas.. 



1.The church parking lot. Very vacant early A.M. and because of growth around the perimeter of the parking lot.. The abductor could be laying in wait for a victim..

2. The Maroon pick up... At first the pick up parks facing the street.. THEN the pick up backs up past the open gate to the bus yard.."This is seen in various news videos"
 Then, when he drives forward the white car comes in behind him into the open gated bus parking area and the maroon pick up drives around a parked car and parks for some minutes facing a bus. His rear window is dark and therefore he is hidden from street view on the rear and by the bus on the front as well as the parked car on his right side..

 That is why I think Amber is already in the vehicle..

I have been thinking, She must have been headed over to the animal area when she was intercepted by the maroon pick up.. It came down the bus driveway behind her. He would have pointed a weapon at her and told her to get in.. Then he goes looking for a hidden spot to get the situation under control, he can see the white car enter the drive way and that is Why he backs up and drives forward looking for a better position.

The only thing I have left to consider .. Is the cell phone location.

If it is turned on the next day and in a local area, then one would have to consider the suspect to be a local citizen.

If it is turned on the next day and it is 20 miles away..
Then the suspect may not be a local..

The position of that cell phone would most likely be the direction of travel and the search line.

Thank you Edward and thanks to Cloudajo over at WS.  Some useful information.  I totally agree with your theory.  Is there anyway to get a police report from the Sacramento incident to find out if there is more info on the truck?  When I first saw the video, I thought it was a Dodge Ram, I had no idea there were so many trucks like that.

Yes I think a person Could contact LE Sacramento..Like I have done in other cases and talk with the detective in charge of that case. I do not know if you can get a copy of the police report or not.. But They may be interested in knowing about THIS case.

It was very generous to suggest that folks send money to Maurice Dubois' niece,  Kelly, to help her raise money to buy the lamb. But, Amber's Trust does not allow the use of public donations except for "search and rescue" efforts for Amber.  The trust is in two parts: the reward, which is frozen until paid out ($50,000 for Amber's safe return, $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of responsible parties, and $10,000 for location of her burial if she has been murdered). This fund was paid for exclusively  by the family of Amber's Mom and three close friends.

The "search fund" is from public donations and certain fund raising activities (Fire Dept, Motorcyle run, Applebees).  In total, the "search fund" donations received are less than half of the reward fund.  Very few donations have been received in the past two weeks but costs for insurance for the center, the 800 number for "tips" answered at the police department, and related expenses for the search continue. Only essentials are charged to the trust account. We have been blessed with help from several organizations for office supplies and search materials such as bottled water, vests, etc. and remain grateful.

I like the lamb. I am impressed by the school farm facilities and the kids I met there were terrific young people. My daughter said the lamb  needed some things and I have purchased the "extras" needed, personally. It was never intended by Amber that the lamb become a pet. It was a Future Farmers educational project and Amber was looking forward to the Fair and the auction of her lamb. Her plan was to use the auction money to get her next animal. It has been a gesture of kindness for the school provide so much for the lamb and for Nicki who is the young lady attending EHS who has taken care of the lamb (no small task) on a day to day basis. It has been a project to raise funds. And, the sale of the lamb will provide extra monies needed  for the continued search for Amber, and, that must remain our priority. 

While I can represent that Amber's Trust has been legally set up, filed with the IRS, properly set up with the bank and trustees, audited by a CPA, etc., I cannot make any representations about any "lamb fund" because I do not know what, if anything, has been done.   In any event,  Amber's Trust cannot accept donations which are to go personally to Kelly. No funds can go directly to ANY family member for ANY purpose.

If this sounds harsh, please remember that it is my granddaughter that is missing and only God knows how long the search will go on. So, our first priority has to be for Amber.

Ambersand ~ I think they are very similar, especially at first glance.  The one from Auburn looks less detailed but hairline, eyes and facial hair look the same to me.  When you said "not so similar" I almost fell out of my chair! 

Trying to factor in "artist rendition" - how do you draw from a verbal discription?  So, this is why I'm wondering about these attempts - and the "descriptions" given - and the "tall, thin boy" allegedly last seen with Amber

I know this may have been totally random, but I read a comment from her grandmom that Amber boarded her horse at a stable nearby her home.  I wonder if they checked out the workers there or any other people keeping horses there.

Someone posted - either here or on W/S - asking if there was a possible link between Amber's disappearance and that of the toddler from San Bernardino who has thankfully been rescued.  Here's the pic of the suspects in that abduction.

I saw it on ABC news this morning actually - I nearly fell out of my chair when they showed the pictures!  Well, goatees are very trendy these days - I think the eyes - and the chin are significant too - it could just be wishful thinking on my part too which is why I wanted input here - thanks!

Valid point - it doesn't fit the profile to switch like that - the best we can do is speculate because we'll never be afforded all of the details from LE on any of the cases - we all know they leak to media what they want us to know - when they want us to know it.  I bring up the example again of the Redondo attempt - it happened in early January but it didn't hit the media until March - long after Amber's disappearance and additional attempts involving similar vehicles and suspects.

Traveling North though and a little to the right is the desert.. The Mohave and Barstow and you can travel on a road that will eventually take you to Auburn on highway 395 Although 5 would be the direct route..

Are the FBI involved in Amber's case?  I would imagine they would be interested in Abersand's comparason photos.

They are "involved" whatever that is supposed to mean in FBI 'speak'.  For example, Amber is not even on the FBI's website for Kidnapped and Missing Persons - we have yet to get a response as to why this is.

1 suggestion, there is not awareness up this way. I live in NorCal and I had heard nothing about this nor  read in the newspapers. Lets say there is an auburn tie, it might do some good to try to get the word out up this way.

I am very proud to be one of Amber's aunts.  We all appreciate everything you all are doing.  We've all been working had to spread the news and attract as much media attention as possible - and as widespread as possible.  Amber's story was covered briefly by NG, but not nearly to the degree of some others.  With abductions at a sickeningly epidemic level - it isn't easy to get the coverage.  It's sites like SM that help to get the word out - it's the people that care and put forth the effort.   ::MonkeyAngel::  The media is in it for the ratings.   ::MonkeyNoNo::  JMHO

I was told it takes hundreds of emails to these shows to get in the spot light. I dont' watch because I have to admit, I don't care that much for NG, Wykes told me that JVM (is that right?) is a good one, is that CNN?  Lets do a write in campaign! Lets keep writing until they pick this up.

Amber seems like she was a good girl, she loved her family, had a good friends, cared about animals...she was excited about choosing her lamb she was going to care for, came from a good family, then vanished. BTW who is your congressman in that area? If  you haven't called his office do so, and also your california state reps, both senate and assembly. Ask for an inperson appointment immediately. Cool! Now I have experience with awareness campaigns, not of this sort but they are all the same in principal if you ask me. As I have written on the Sandra Cantu thread....One clear message which answers the basic marketing questions.

1. what is the product (or message)
2. How  will it work for me (why should I care)
3. and why do I need it, (How can I help or what should I say in this case.)
All the while tugging on emotions.

So, you have an entire area to draw from. The more people writing and getting the attention the better, obviously. Making it as easy as possible for people is what will be needed. Not that people are lazy, but their time is limited.

Lets put a sample letter together so people have something to draw from and gather idea's from. It needs to be short, precise and to the point. the people reading these things read thousands of things  day. We need to use language which grabs them and grabs emotional strings. With the media, we use their need for ratings to our advantage. We make the story as compelling and heart wrenching as we can. (I know this sounds terrible but it is reality). After we do this, we ask everyone we know to help! People want to help, most people don't know what to do. 

Another idea is an online petition to politicians and also to the media as a cry for attention for this story. these are easy to get siggys for as long as it is something people care about, and they will care about this story.

I am sure other monkey's will have far more advice to offer, can anyone think of other things and ways to draw attention? Or maybe correct any of the suggestions I have made? I want to get this right.

I have seen our members out searching many times.. From Aruba to Florida and California.
I have seen them in protests and writing congress people. They are amazing people..

I did just get a call from the detective in Auburn ..
He told me to contact detectives in Placer county sheriff department as they have the attempted abduction case although he was amazed at the comparison photo.
He said when the attempted abduction occurred, he himself and half his force drove all over the area checking every red 4 door truck they had come across. Never found the guy..
Nobody has identified the truck yet..

 Which had a Blue Bronco, although that could have been anyone's vehicle, they could have borrowed it or both men have a vehicle of there own..

Also in Theory..That these 2 men actually are members of a cartel out of Mexico and sometimes can be referred to as the Mexican Mafia..
Then they would be runners.. soldiers..
Given task and accomplishing missions handed to them by others..
While they are in between JOBS .. We see various incidents of them inside of America attacking innocent girls.. In Serial behaviors.
FACT: These cartel gang members have often times been trained by ex military personal. It is a fact that members are put through boot camps designed to make them into soldiers and trained to murder, kidnap and extort information through torture.. They are terrorists.

In news media reports
A white van .. seen from San Diego to Los Angeles with 2 or 3 different males attempting to get females into the van, I have read 6 different incidents of this van..
A blue Bronco seen in one abduction of a 3 year old boy in San bernardino
A maroon or red 4 door pick up seen in Escondido to Sacramento/Auburn

So assuming this may be who has taken Amber..
What would have been there route if they had Business relative to Drugs in San Bernardino and someplace like Reno  and they wanted to stay off the main highway system and out of view of police..

So again in theory ..

After the abduction of Amber in Escondido What direction may they take.. ?

These soldiers stay at other cartel/ gang members homes ? There are gang/cartel members everywhere.. They stay with there own kind arranged through contacts..

6. Exit onto US-395 toward Bishop/Adelanto
Entering Nevada  392 mi
7. Continue on N Carson St  2.3 mi
8. Take the ramp onto N Carson St/US-395
Continue to follow US-395  17.7 mi
9. Take the ramp to N Reno  0.6 mi
10. Merge onto US-395 N  8.9 mi
11. Take exit 68 to merge onto I-80 W toward Reno  1.9 mi
12. Take exit 13 toward Virginia St  0.2 mi
13. Merge onto E 8th St  0.1 mi
14. Turn left at US-395/N Virginia St  0.3 mi

 Then they take 50 or 80 into Auburn and after the failed attempt on the girl in Auburn they drive down 5 all the way to Mexico and drop the boy off in the streets of Mexicali after hearing how hot he is..
They are not stupid.. and now they hide and reside in a Mexico home base again..

But the route is direct from escondido to San bernardino then out through victorville across the desert floor and up 395 through Bishop and the mountain range ..Out of sight and out of the minds of police as most all searches were being done in south California for the boy and Mexico..meanwhile they are probably in Reno or some place like that and they drop the bronco and travel only in the red pickup as they come down 80 into auburn area.. Then it is straight down 5 to Mexico and home free in Mexicali.
 The search for Amber should follow that path between Escondido and San Bernadino ?
I do not think they had Amber with them when they had posetion of the boy..
A officer or his mom could show the photos of amber to the boy to see if she was with them..
Anyways it was just an idea..

I'm wondering about the description "red".  If I said I saw a red pickup, I would mean fire engine red.  If I saw a maroon pickup, I would describe it as maroon or burgundy.  I think either some people can't see the difference in color, or don't know how to describe it properly.  In the video of the truck at the bus garage, did the truck have a lockable tool compartment in the back like the truck at Walmart?  Definitely something that someone in the construction business would have.

I did a comparison, zooming in on both trucks, I don't think they are the same. The walmart truck does not have the same chrome on the sides from what I can tell.

Firstly, from my mom and I - thank you and hugs back!  Secondly - I agree - Fire Engine Red - is a universally known color.  Maroon and burgundy are more difficult to pin down or differentiate between - but it definately rules out "fire engine red" - if that makes any sense?  We had several email tips regarding this new video from the superstore parking lot and I thought it was worth reviewing since chrome accessories can be easily added or removed.

I look for patterns of behavior..

The one pattern that keeps on top in my mind is the early morning abduction attack on the 16 year old girl in El Cajon.
I think early morning abductions are rare..

He was also in a stolen vehicle.. whicah means he could be driving anything on the day amber disappears..

When you read this thread, all 21 pages, there has been may things that have happened..

The white van attacking girls is another pattern..

Escondido
Los Angeles
 The white van with multiple people attempting to or actual attacks on girls.
It shows up quite a few times in news reports.

That is a pattern of behavior. Shows how willing they are to travel..

 
   

I have read all pages of this thread - and continue to go back and review - information comes at us very fast and I'm always wondering what I've missed - the data here is so beneficial.

The white van has shown up in multiple locations - problem being - the majority of utility vans are white - I'm not ruling anything out though.

The cell phone was keyed for 20 seconds..  The culprits are nosey..

I have also recorded in these threads "user comments".. To Internet news articles relative to Amber.

Some of these people attack the family or try to show defects in others, trying to lead people away from the abduction thought, and into a run away scenario ..
The Escondido police actually fell for this early on in my opinion.

I posted them because I believe the culprits may have created those comments.
A path personality is a creature who is very inquisitive.. such as a Path that starts fires and watches all the fire trucks. A arsonist is a PATH personality.

So when you read those comments..You may be reading what the culprit wrote.

Yes, I saw that recently when reviewing this thread - that it could be the culprit posting comments to news articles etc - it's really helped to put me in a different frame of mind when reading those posts - to "read through" what could potentially be a clue.   ::MonkeyCool::

I was afraid you would be upset with me or misunderstand my intention/purpose.

I just tried to grab everything I could early on in this because ALL the answers are going to be found there in my opinion.
 Like that guy Williams attacking that girl early A.M. in El Cajon.
He is a very street smart guy and he would have to be hard pressed to admit anything. Even though the girl who was attacked positively identified him and they find the stolen car, he still adamantly denies being involved and would not allow his face to be viewed by court cameras.. I still do not have his picture ID
 The judge and the defense attorney are working against the public interest by not allowing his face to be seen in my opinion. You never know how many girls might come forward.
He has probably attacked many in my opinion.

One of those News reader comments includes a name of a local Pub, the person who left the comment even knows what time the Pub is open.
 That post could have been the culprit, again making an attempt to lead people away.
That makes me suspicious of everyone who frequents that Pub..

I know I am crazy but I consider every angle.  It is not uncommon for a culprit to know the person they intend to attack or a family member. It gives them an inside edge to make a plan.

I saw an article today in the San Diego Tribune about a man who is being sought for 2 child molestings at different Wal Marts. The thing that caught my eye was the description of the truck he was seen getting into. Dark, possibly burgundy.
I didn't want to type out the whole article if it is not genuinly similar to the red truck seen in the bus yard. Does the one seen in the bus yard have a crew cab?

“When I said I was pregnant, he said he didn't care,” the girl testified in El Cajon Superior Court. “He was telling me to shut up.”
Willie Kendall Williams must stand trial on several felony charges, including kidnapping with the intent to commit a sex crime, forcible oral copulation, rape with a foreign object and car theft, El Cajon Superior Court Judge Louis R. Hanoian ruled.
The judged ordered Williams, 27, held without bail pending a trial July 27.
If convicted of all charges, Williams faces 30 years to life in prison, Deputy District Attorney Curtis Ross said.
The girl identified him within days of the attack from a series of photographs police showed her, but she didn't recognize him in court yesterday.She testified that she was walking along East Main Street between 7:45 and 8 a.m. March 2 when she was forced into a car by a man who offered to sell her jewelry. She said she was taken to a nearby apartment parking lot where she was forced to perform a sex act after the man threatened her with a gun, which turned out to be a replica. The girl said she was released in a nearby alley. –R.H.

I have been looking at that video.. I can't tell for sure.. aiat looks Red and not maroon.
The man involved is very visible in the video.. If anyone can get a screen shot of that face and enlarge it, it could be beneficial to catching him.. One way or the other he needs to be caught and dropped off a bridge, or something like that..

Ok, it was the first I'd heard of this and thought it may be pertinent. So many creepy evil ppl. out in da world. Take care, keep up the good fight.

He has been sitting around that jail working on changing his appearance..
If they have no DNA .. He intends to go free.
You can see his demeanor with her in the car.. But he lets her go..
Where was he 2 weeks prior ? Did he commit an act of murder 2 weeks earlier ?
By letting her go, he creates an illusion that he would not harm somebody beyond rape ?

The cell phone going off the next day would mean he would have had to have spent the night in Escondido unless he on purposely came back and fired up the cell phone for the sole purpose of misleading investigators.. The crime committed to the south and he turns on the cell phone to the north..

His Photo early on, may have given police the edge when looking at security videos at local stores and gas stations..somebody may have seen him in Escondido and recognised him.
