Title: Jeans and Dockers
Post by: SunnyinTX on February 23, 2009, 08:17:57 AM
OK all you fashion savvy ladies......I wear dockers and jeans a lot.....and often wear crisp white shirts with both....and I wear loafers....I am too damn old to be running around in high heels with my jeans...so my question is.......................................what do you wear on your feet with jeans? And with Dockers?

I have never worn Dockers, so I can not answer that question propperly.  I did Google search what Dockers are, and I see that they look somewhat like Khaki's?  Am I right?

With my jeans I tend to wear a lot of different styles of boots, wedges, and heels...if I am going for comfort I wear my Uggs or Reef thong sandles..but thats very rare!

IF you do go with a flat, I think that the most common mistake is the length of the jean itself.  More often than not the wrong length of jeans and/or khaki's is worn by people.  If you are going to wear a flat heeled shoe make sure that your jeans end just below the point where the heel of your shoe starts, do not allow the jeans to cover down on top of your entire top half of your foot...and do not high water them either!  LOL

Now the length for a higher heeled shoe is pretty much the same, but given the height difference if you have a pair of pants tailored for when you were flats, they may not fall quite right when you wear a heel.  My suggestion and fashion tip to avoid this type of drama is below.

**FASHION TIP**
Always have your pants tailored at the longest length you will ever plan to wear them.  Invest in a roll of double sided fabric tape (inexpensive about $2 a roll).  When getting ready to get out on the town and need to adjust the length of your pants place a strip around the inside of the bottom of each pant leg, all the way around, and then cuff the fabric up to the adjusted height needed for a custom tailored "quicky" fix.  Now this will hold as long as you are not wading through water, running a marathon, or excessively rubbing your heels together "there's no place like home...no place like home".

I hope this helped Sunny!  Wear what makes you comfortable.  Possibly invest in a nice pair of "comfy" boots, they do not have to be knee high.  (Be sure to have a brown pair for when you wear brown belt, and a black pair for when you wear a black belt .... ha!!!)

Absolutely correct

I go for comfort...like I said no heels with my jeans..except on the rare occassion

Ok..if you wear flats...now remember I am in MO and not Florida....what do you wear for socks

HAHAHAHA...it helps a lot... PS: I am with it on the belts...LOL

I wear colored tights with boots, and sheer spanx with heels and flats.  Sometimes, if its colder, I wear the kneehigh socks, they have a silky type texture, but are thicker than wearing tights or spanx.  You know, the nicer "dress socks".
Do not wear gym socks with them, thats a no no.  LOL

What is wrong with tights?  A1 also wears tights!  They are very fashionable, some even have very pretty textured designs.

Come on Sunny...live a little!!!  :)

Hey Sunny...I don't think you can go wrong with the classics!  Nicely tailored loafers with jeans or dockers work for me!  In summer I will go without socks, but cooler weather I usually wear an opaque patterned trouser sock in the same color as my shoe.  I like to brighten up the whole look with a patterned silk scarf worn as a belt.  I think it looks especially nice with a crisp white shirt and a great handbag.

Numbersgirl goes Martha's Vineyard old school!  Trouser sock...that is the word I was looking for!  I am not a sock person....shhh don't tell BT.

I still love my patterned tights!  With a cute mini they add flavor!!

I am a bit curious though to hear how it is that Sunny "lives a little".

Now, now Dolce....remember our little talk about age appropriate dressing?  j/k  Some seasons the trends are a little more "timeless" than others.  Numbersgirl is a fan of high heels and owns many pairs of fierce sandals!

I think I know how Sunny "lives a little"....you, little momma, are too young to be told about such things!   ::MonkeyTongue::

I will try the trouser socks that you and Dolce recommended. Love my white shirts and striped shirts. Thanks to both of you!!

Sunny ~ I saw this and wanted to comment but I'm afraid that I'm not on the up & up with fashion being a midwesterner and all.  I love jeans and wear them all the time and my mom gets me these great cashmere blend socks that are conservative colors (black, navy) they are light weight yet very warm.  They are always under the tree at Christmas to get me thru the cold long winters! With jeans I wear loafers and flats or sandals. The classics are always in style  ::MonkeyCool::  However, if my feet were not arthritic, I would give anything to wear a pair of heels with some nice jeans, depending on where I was headed, of course. I have been having such a hard time with my feet, even the flats can end up making me wish for my flip flops. With the weather we have in SoCal, I wear sandals year round unless it is one of our infrequent cold days, then I wear knee highs.
