The house in on a cove. The back of the house faces the water. When you pull the boat or Seadoo out and go right it comes out on the main part of the lake, just around the bend.

Remember, the lakehouse was/is a fixer upper and John lives there. It's become a depository for all office furniture that we didn't have room for at the new office, some of Mom's stuff, some of John's stuff and some we've bought since I've had the house, so it's CLUTTERED and in various stages of completion!

OK, When you come into the house from the carport, which is always the way we come in, to the right is the lving room.

John rented a hydraulic thingy and did the floating dock, I bought the jet ski dock and he put it together, and we both resurfaced the stationary dock.

Ok!!  Here is the plan!!  John moves to your house and we all (including you)move in there!!   ::MonkeyWink::

What do think?  It can be the Monkey Retreat!!   ::MonkeyRoll::

Jackie will clean!  I will supervise.  A1 will cook!  MM will keep the couch warm and you will be Captain of the boat!!  Sounds good to me!!!

That's a really screwy fireplace barely visable. It's open on three sides................weird! But we use it, and enjoy it!

Thanks, but it's the downstairs  I'm honestly needing advice on! We've just gotten through tiling it, and it's loaded with stuff from the office, but I'm trying to finish a bath and bedroom down there.

The plan is this..................  I am going to sell my house, hopefully the market will get better soon (please, pease!), and eventually move out there, but in the meantime, everythings on a tight budget and has to be done on a shoestring. I thought the tile would kill us both!  Here: This is the a the bottom of the stairs you saw at the foyer, and then it opens into this long narrow room. I put a small kitchenette on the other side of the fireplace. The rug and furniture will go..............it's just left over from the office. There's a big picture window behind the counch with a lakeview. The tile detail is as you come in from outside, and the 1/2 bath is on the other sid of that credenza. I'm almost through, guys, bear with me! The downstairs bedroom and full bath ( under major construction) is all that's left!

I Will be the assistant house keeper and cook. I can saw if we may need some special clothes

We'd get really tired and give up and then start again. Probably 2 weeks if we'd worked a full day every day. But HERE's ONE OF THE DELIMA'S!!! The BATHROOM off that bedroom. I haven't looked at vanities, and have no idea what would look right with the tile....................  any suggestion? I've decided to panel the ceiling and do recessed lighting, with lights over the mirror at the vanity.

I'm not ever going to get this finished................ it takes SO long to do it yourself, and the materials alone cost a fortune!! But,  can't just leave it this way becase 'd have to finish it to sell it! There were 3 bedrooms upstairs, and we took out a wall to make a big Master bedroom on the main level, knowing we were going to fix this one downstairs, but it's at a standstill.  :roll:

Hey everyone, Please help me out with this! My granddaughter attends a private academy. The tuition has just gone up once again & is now $5400. a year or 450.00 a month. We pay her tuition & it's getting harder & harder! She is in 4th grade, highschool tuition is now at 492.00 a month! i would like to know what the tuition rates are across the country. If you have children or grandchildren that attend private school or if you know the tuition costs of schools in your area please post them. We will be attending the next board of directors meeting. Hi Monken.   I came over to see what question you had about private schools.   My kids went to private schools.   I had them in both - Christian and Catholic schools.   The Catholic schools were normally cheaper, especially if you were a member of the Parrish.  My three girls have all graduated from college, now - but when my oldest was in a Catholic High School (94-99) we were paying about $4500 a year plus books.   The two youngest were in a private grade Jr. High - about $6000 for both of them.   I couldn't afford to send the two younger ones to the private HS - so I switched them to public.    All three graduated from Universities in MD - and all three are working as civil servants for the government. 

Now its time for them to remember dear old mom - and repay the favor one day.     ::MonkeyHaHa:: ::MonkeyHaHa::

My oldest is expecting in August.   I finally get to be a grandma!

I think the rates for your school are about average.   That's my opinion based on living in MD - where everything is expensive!

We also pay tuition for our granddaughter to attend private school here in Southeast Texas.  Thankfully it's not as high as yours is ! The cost is $330.00/month or $3,960/yr.  She will be in 4th grade next year.  Tuition increased last year but they have said it won't increase for the next school year -- which probably means there will be a lot more fund raisers, lol.

Thank you, Sassy, I know that the other private schools here are much less. We do have a catholic school and 2 baptist based schools here, as well. My daughter graduated from this school & it is absolutely wonderful, but I don't know how we are going to be able to afford much more. And we also have our 3 yr old granddaughter who will be entering kindergarten in a year & a half. My daughter cannot afford to send them there & we made the decision to do this. Just hope my hubby finds a slammin" job after graduation!  ::MonkeyEek::

I am answering this although mine do not go to private school. I am a homeschooler.

My grandson does go to private school because his mother travels extensively and cannot homeschool him like I did her. She pays $1,100 per month for 10 months. There is one here where the tuition is 4500.00 per year, but it is not convenient for her.

I have been a homeschooler since the late 70s and all of my older children graduated with honors from the university on academic scholarships.  

See they have been increasing tuition every year since she has been there. 5.00 a month every school year. They gave us a break this year & only went up 10.00. I understand the teacher pay situation in private schools, they do not get payed even close to public, & private schools get no gov. funds, but my God, the economy has affected us too! They have numerous fund raisers here as well, at least every other month. My son went to private school also, and the rates are higher than those mentioned. The rate for grades 1-3 are almost $7000.00 a year. This is in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Monken, check out any Catholic schools in your area.  They also usually give a volume discount for additional children in the same family enrolled.

I live in the second largest metro area in our state. The current tuition for the most popular and largest catholic school is $8,000, however the current tuition rate for a comparable christian school your granddaughter's school is $3,950 in K5  and rises up to $4,815 in senior high school. Some other private high schools here are 12K to 20K annually but they are all nationally recognized. Hope that helps but yes, tuition costs are rising across the nation. Fewer federal educational grants will also impact private schools, to include a stressed fundraising environment - they will need to make up the shortfall and that means higher tuition.

Thank you Anna, I have & it's a really good school, but it only goes through 5th grade, so she'd only be there one year. The other private schools have, just in the last couple years, enrolled enough students to go through grade 12. We have other options but the schools are just not comparable. We'll just have to dig deeper in our pockets, I guess!

I have spent most of this am reading past musing threads from December up until now. wow. I had been wondering where old monkeys went, they seemed to just stop posting. I was also online when some got a red button. So many questions have been answered.
If you have to know the secret code and handshake to enter another forum, then that means there is something to hide. I appreciate each and every monkey here. All have something to offer. I dont agree with everyone, but I read ALOT of what's written and sometimes even change my mind due to it! I was in the Caylee thread one night when a poster was after the personal info and IP of another member who they felt was leaking confidential info on the case from LE. I was appalled that they would consider making this info and a potential false accusation public. I felt compelled to say so and soon after that poster was responsible for getting herself the red button. I really appreciated this forum and the mods here. I am also glad that alot of this petty crap was limited to musings, and sorry it got into Natalee's thread. From a psych perspective, it was an interesting read. ::MonkeyHaHa::

I think it is really great that you're doing that for your grandchildren   (Bud's Girl, too).
I'm sure their parents appreciate more than you will ever know.    My ex-inlaws paid for one year of our daughter's HS tuition - and it was a HUGE help.    My daughter wrote her grandparents numerous thank you cards throughout the school year.

My brother, my daughter & niece all graduated from Lamar & my sister worked there for 6 years. We know everyone there, so it's really more than a school to us.
