When she was told their motion for benchnotes was moot as she did not cite a Florida case to support her request, she became openly argumentative with his Honor Stan Strickland. Strickland in essence told the defense he is not their lackey, and the state has no burden to chase down documents for them.

A judge Thursday granted a motion to keep George Anthony's suicide note private at this time as a hearing in the Casey Anthony case began.

In other motions, the defense has requested that state and law enforcement release all DNA notes, reports and details about the standards used to collect evidence. Strickland did not rule on this motion and told the defense to request it from the FBI and other sources. If they still have a problem, then Strickland said he would consider a motion to force the evidence to be turned over.
In the second motion, Baez wants the judge to punish the state for not telling a defense expert that trash and other items were removed from Casey Anthony's car.
"The defense later learned that investigators had removed some of the physical evidence without informing them," a spokesman for Casey Anthony's defense team, Marti Mackenzi said.
The defense now wants the notes on the items removed from the car.
The third motion from the defense deals with computer pictures on the home computer of Ricardo Morales, Casey Anthony's ex-boyfriend.

Judge Stan Strickland quickly ruled on a motion from the Antony family that prevents the prosecution from releasing George Anthony's suicide note. Anthony survived an attempt to take his life in January.

Well if Baez has any brain he will go that way ... as Cindy is really the most plausible person to pin this on.  She certainly had access to Caylee.  Was the actual "nanny" that Casey referred to when she told people that Caylee was with the nanny.  (and I've wondered if Cindy wasn't on Xanax at some point in time ... with the separation and George losing big $ ... wouldn't have been unheard of ... and having already told people she had a "nanny" and knowing her mom was on Xanax ... I can see the smug little shit coming up with "Zanny the Nanny" just for her own little personal joke on mom.)  The car only had to be used to transport an already decomposing body ... 15 minutes of one day ... just around the corner ... and Jose can say the dogs hitting in the back yard because that's where the body was left wrapped and decomposing until transport ... and didn't Cindy finally admit that she loaned Casey her SUV on the George chase day (?) ... and the cell pings can be explained away by that darn cell phone that Casey "lost."

This will be in the law classes tomorrow.  First rule for attorneys is never ask a question you don't know the answer to.  Second rule, don't look to the prosecution and see who you can pull to be a witness because you didn't realize that a motion for sanctions calls for evidence - presented through witness, not your pie whole and then think when your IQ can't be over 110 that you can wing it!
As to the CSI guy - Biaz was too stupid to know the one he picked (thinking he could cuddle up with him due to knowing how to enunciate his name) was a technician and did a great job of not over stepping his boundaries!!!!

I was watching HLN...at one point the camera went to GA and he was wiping his eyes and nose...I am assuming her was crying...did anyone catch that and of so....do you know what was being discussed at that time....was it when there was a mention by the PA that the CSI were on their hands and knees searching for bones??  I noticed there was NO REACTION from the HO when that statement was made.................she is one cold bitch!!

Did any of the Monkeys get a screen shot of Casey when her eyes were bugging out of her face and she looked scared? 

She also looked pissed at different points.  I think she is going to start showing more of the scared and the pissed looks as the trial goes on..she can't believe it has taken this long. 

It was pretty mundane stuff about the dna evidence already being sent to the defense on dvd I think ... I was paying attention once I saw Georgie crying and thought to myself ... what the crap is he crying about ... certainly not what they are talking about!

The Thursday hearing in the Casey Anthony case could be a taste of what's to come.

WKMG-Channel 6's Tony Pipitone predicted many more hearings.

Pipitone's analysis gave WKMG the edge in coverage. He is just so knowledgeable, and he was the most valuable player, stepping in with cogent insights when the sound was cut off in the courtroom. He quickly summed up what had happened after the hearing ended.

The headline: The suicide note written by George Anthony, Casey's father, won't be made public. Casey is charged with murdering her daughter, Caylee.

Brad Conway, attorney for George, said there was nothing pertinent in the note to Casey Anthony's case. Conway wanted to block the note's release, and Judge Stan Strickland agreed, although he noted that the media could come back and argue for the release.

On WFTV-Channel 9, Kathi Belich took a close look at what Casey was wearing. "Casey Anthony was dressed plainly in court today," Belich said. "She was not wearing the red lipstick she had ordered from the jail last week. Her parents sat behind her in court."

Belich's take on the hearing: "It was a tough day for her defense team."

WKMG's Jessica D'Onofrio described the scene outside the courtroom. Cindy Anthony, Casey's mother, hugged defense attorney Jose Baez before the hearing and "wiped away tears," D'Onofrio reported.

On WESH-Channel 2, Bob Kealing noted that the parents "only managed to get a couple of glances in court with Casey" and that George was wearing "a very visible Caylee button."

Conway said, "Caylee's always with them, and she always will be with them, and they want everybody to know that."

WESH's Michelle Meredith asked for Baez's reaction after he was denied two of his motions. One was for sanctions against the state. Was he disappointed?

"We're persistent, and we're going to stay persistent," Baez said. "Persistence beats resistance. ... It's part of the job. You don't always get what you want the first time around. But we're going to keep asking what we feel we're entitled to."

Meredith strained to get any reaction from George and Cindy Anthony. Both are evidently fighting colds, and Meredith tried to learn more. But they were mostly mum.

"Cindy, how do you think it went to day?" Meredith asked.

"She thinks it went fine," Conway replied.

Meredith also observed to Baez, "Casey looks scared."

Baez: "That's your interpretation."

I think this was the first time that she's been in court and there was a witness on the stand discussing the collection of the hair in the trunk of the car. My take was that reality smacked her in the face...at least temporarily. Again, just my take.

Casey Anthony's defense fails to win sanctions against state

5:17 p.m. After today's hearing, Casey Anthony's defense attorneys said they plan on contacting the FBI and asking for various notes from the agency.

The defense also said one thing they plan to follow-up with at trial is the fact that Orange County Sheriff's Office crime-scene investigators destroy their notes once they write their reports.

4:58 p.m. Judge Strickland has heard all the motions scheduled for today. He said that if the investigator who reviewed the ex-boyfriend's computer has notes, he or she needs to turn them over.

4:54 p.m. Judge Strickland denied the defense's request for sanctions.

They are now discussing the final motion, which is about screen shots from the computer belonging to one of Casey Anthony's ex-boyfriends.

Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick said they are asking investigators to turn over all the contents.

The defense team already has the computer hard-drive, so the judge is asking why they actually need the screen shots.

Defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden said the defense wants to know if there are notes from the computer examiner.

4:47 p.m. Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick told Judge Stan Strickland that Jose Baez is trying to argue something he hasn't proven. She said Baez is trying to insinuate some type of police misconduct.

4:40 p.m. Defense attorney Jose Baez was going to call another witness but changed his mind. He is now addressing Judge Strickland.

4:30 p.m. The crime scene investigator was at the Sheriff's Office when Dr. Henry Lee -- one of Jose Baez's experts -- arrived to inspect evidence. Lee was going to inspect the car and other evidence.

4:12 p.m. Defense attorney Jose Baez is now questioning a crime scene investigator who processed Anthony's car July 16.

4:00 p.m.The judge has called the attorneys to the bench and is talking to them now.

3:55 p.m. Judge Strickland has found the defense's request for DNA and evidence gathering is moot. Strickland wants the defense to request the information from the FBI and private labs.

3:40 p.m. Judge Stan Strickland granted Conway's motion. Conway asked the judge to block prosecutors from releasing a note George Anthony wrote in January when he threatened suicide.

3:35 p.m. A hearing in the case against Casey Anthony, the 22-year-old accused of killing her daughter, is about to start in Orange County courtroom 19D.

Anthony - who is required to attend all hearings - is sitting next to her attorney Jose Baez and co-counsel Linda Kenney Baden. She was seated before the public was allowed in the courtroom. Her hair is pulled back and she appears to be wearing a white cardigan atop a dark shirt and dark pants.

The courtroom is packed with reporters and onlookers. Anthony's parents - George Anthony and Cindy Anthony are sitting in the first row, behind their daughter. Orange County detectives John Allen and Yuri Melich are also in attendance.

Orange Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland will hear arguments on four motions, including one filed by lawyer Brad Conway, who is representing George Anthony and Cindy Anthony.

Conway wants to stop prosecutors from releasing a note George Anthony wrote in January when he threatened suicide.

The letter may be part of investigative documents that could be released to the public under Florida's open record laws.

Distraught over his granddaughter's death and his daughter's arrest, George Anthony threatened suicide in January.

He penned the note Jan. 23, before police found him in a Daytona Beach motel. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he stayed several days.

In paperwork filed in court, Conway argued that the note contains personal information that is not relevant to the criminal investigation. Releasing it would be embarrassing for the family, he wrote.

Another topic on the list of motions involve the defense's request for prosecutors and law enforcement to produce all DNA notes and reports and standards used to collect evidence.

Baez also wants the state to turn over computer screen shots or printout from a computer that belonged to Ricardo Morales, one of Anthony's former boyfriends. At one point, he had a picture of a woman on his MySpace page - a social networking Web site - that stated "win her over with chloroform."

Investigators examined Morales' computer and found "nothing incriminating." Baez wrote in his motion that the defense is entitled to know what the state felt was "not incriminating" so the defense can compare it to their own computer analysis.

The last issue scheduled today is Baez's request to have prosecutors sanctioned because a defense expert who examined Anthony's car was not informed about all the evidence removed from the vehicle.

Investigators removed trash from the trunk before criminalist Henry Lee inspected the car for the defense.

Authorities failed to tell him it was taken out. Now, the defense must request notes and opinions by the state's two experts, according to the motion.

Howard K. Stern is turning himself in tonight -- he's being arrested and charged, along with two other doctors, for allegedly conspiring to fuel an an addict with prescription drugs -- and the addict was Anna Nicole Smith.

Stern and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich are being charged with a total of eight felonies.

According to the L.A. County D.A., the conspiracy counts allege the three defendants conspired to furnish controlled substances to Smith from between July 2004 and January 2007.

Stern and Kapoor were charged with one count of unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance. Eroshevich and Stern were charged with unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance between June 2004 and January 2007.

Kapoor and Eroshevich were each charged with obtaining a prescription for opiates by "fraud, deceit or misrepresentation." They were both also charged with one count of obtaining a prescription for opiates by giving a false name or address.

Kapoor and Stern were also charged with one count of "prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict." Eroshevich was charged with the same crime for separate prescriptions.

Bail is recommended at $20,000 for each defendant.

Three lil monkeys working thru the night came upon a correlation between the red heart sticker & the skeleton couple image that shapes into a heart that Casey uploaded after Caylee was killed (I think 6/26).   Well tonight it was discussed on HLN CNN & newJ was wondering if anyone called from here, doesnt appear that anyone has.  Now, over the past weeks  Ive been checking over at other sites (1 in particular  ::MonkeyWink::) because I see a habit of them liking to read elsewhere & make it seem like an original thought commented on over here was there own, similar to the youtubes which many others had as far back as Sept - ironically this new news was posted by Blink sooner than mentioned elsewhere & they did not reference where they got the breaking news.

PS   I am so not shocked about "Mac the Knife" I could tell how he came blowing in tooting his horn that he had to have secrets in the closet, you could say I have keen gut instincts & not to shabby in the observant dept.  O man I cannot wait to hear more!!     O how Im giggling over here, you have no idea!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, as I was watching them in action.   They are actually annoying to watch.   There isn't a "charmer" on the team.   Maybe Todd will fit that billet.   But Bozo and LKB sure don't.   Dr. Lee is also annoying - and has little credibility.   The dream team may end up being a nightmare.

wonder why my son does it, but he doesnt rub palms 2gether, he fiddles and rolls them around each other, just think he knows he in trouble and cell phone taken (cant live without that as a teen LOL) but he also has 2 be doing something with his hands at all times, i think his is more his ADHD

How interesting about the hand rubbing ... I see it as a nervous gesture ... fidgeting ... self-comforting maybe ... and she does have something on her hands ... guilt ... she saw what Caylee looked like in that trunk. She saw the maggots. No way she can EVER wipe that out of her mind no matter how hard she tries. And now there is no partying or Tony L. to distract her. She is face to face with it and it is affecting her in spite of her "tough" act.

She looks to have aged 10 years. I'm 33, have a 16 year old daughter and I look younger than Casey.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- There's another new twist in the case against Casey Anthony. Channel 9 discovered that her newest, high-profile attorney is in some trouble with the California state bar association. Mark Todd Macaluso is accused of writing bad checks from one of his client's accounts.

Eyewitness News' legal expert said that is one of the most serious allegations an attorney can face. The new attorney was in court with Casey Anthony for her most recent hearing.

The most recent addition to Casey Anthony's defense team spoke with Anthony briefly in court before the hearing began yesterday. The man from California recently signed a motion asking to be allowed to appear in Florida court as a new attorney on the case alongside Jose Baez.

California state bar documents reveal, in January, the bar filed disciplinary charges against Macaluso. The charges allege he misappropriated client funds and misused a client's trust account. That type of account is set up for an attorney to hold the clients money. For example, after a settlement, the attorney would use the money in the account to cut a check.

When Eyewitness News asked Macaluso about the allegations he blamed his staff who didn't handle it appropriately.

Casey's defense team had a tough day in court.

Thursday, her lawyers asked for prosecutors to hand over the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) bench notes on DNA testing. However, prosecutors don't have them and the judge said he has no jurisdiction over the FBI outside of Florida.

The judge also denied a request to sanction prosecutors for allegedly keeping evidence from them and concealing experts from the witness list.

The judge did grant a request by George and Cindy Anthony's attorney, Brad Conway, ruling that George's suicide note will remain a secret.
