She knew from the beginning. According to a CIA memorandum summarizing briefings to Congress on the use of enhanced interrogation techniques on terrorist detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) knew from the very beginning that those techniques -- including waterboarding -- were being used on September 2, 2002. According to the memo the very first briefing listed is 9/4/02 with then Rep. Porter Goss & Pelosi. I believe she knew exactly the intent, knew the methods, didn't object. Pelosi has left US with the choice: was she missing, was she oblivious, was she unintelligent, or was she lying? Nothing good for Pelosi. The leaked CIA minutes of Congressional briefings on enhanced-interrogation techniques — more than 40 of them — show that leaders of both parties and members of the committees on intelligence got specifically and explicitly briefed on Abu Zubaydah’s waterboarding and other procedures used on high-value al-Qaeda detainees:
