Title: 'Cap and Trade' = doubles your energy bill, leads to 17% unemployment?

As many of you know, there is a bill before Congress proposing a concept called "Cap and Trade." It is nothing more than a huge tax bill for all Americans and in the end, will accomplish nothing in the way of any environmental solutions.

It will make a lot of money for the official legal cap and trade commodity traders - and pay royalties.

Quote
In some in countries, such as Spain, it has had disastrous results raising their energy costs more than 30 percent and increasing unemployment to 17 percent.

If you are not familiar with Cap and Trade, I suggest you do some research and see for yourself how it could, according to several economists, bankrupt the U.S. if passed. The concept of Cap and Trade does not work and has not worked anywhere it has been tried. It does not reduce emissions nor does it solve any environmental problems relating to any pollution.

I believe the Cap & Trade legislation is about casino style trading and taxing that will be paid for by all Americans.  You'll pay for your housing, heating, cooling, cooking, transportation, goods & services, shopping - loss of jobs.

For some reason, it will be cheaper to move jobs to foreign nations as energy bills in the U.S. rise.  Does the bill ask companies to export to the U.S. to pay their part to the U.S. taxpayers for reducing global emissions?

It's all about raping Americans in favor of foreigners -

"Cap-and-trade’s not free, nor a market"

Quote
The law isn’t even final yet, and already the system is being manipulated.

About a year ago, I wrote that using a cap-and-trade process to corral carbon emissions would create a false market easily manipulated to benefit a few at the expense of the many.

The many, of course, would be all of us consumers who would pay more for everything from electricity to plastics to cement. That hasn’t changed.

Quote
It’s in granting those initial permits, though, that the games begin. The bill would shift much of the cost burden for consumer carbon emissions, primarily from cars and trucks, to refiners.

ConocoPhillips, for example, said this week that U.S. refiners would bear the cost for one-third of all carbon emissions, while the American Petroleum Institute, an industry trade group, estimates closer to 44 percent.

The government would allocate just 2 percent of the emission allowance permits to the refining industry. The cost of buying all those extra permits would get passed on to motorists, making cap-and-trade a thinly disguised gasoline tax.

Quote
Of course, most have a mix, but utilities with more hydroelectric, nuclear and wind generation would likely have excess permits, which they could sell for pure profit, courtesy of the federal government.

Quote
As with gasoline, the result would be higher prices, but it would also mean that consumers of coal-generated electricity would, in effect, be paying the stock dividends for investors in utilities with fewer coal-fired plants.

In other words, cap-and-trade is marinated in political favoritism, steeped with biases against certain industries and skewed against certain regions of the country.

Quote
In its budget proposal, the Obama administration slotted $650 billion in new revenue from cap-and-trade between 2012 and 2019, with $80 billion a year used to fund a middle-class tax cut and $15 billion going to promote alternative energy.

The closer we get to cap-and-trade becoming law, the more its true picture comes into focus.

It’s been portrayed as a free market solution, but with all the manipulation before the first permit has even traded, it doesn’t resemble anything close to a market.

And it darn sure won’t be free.

80 + 15 is 95 billion.  Where is the rest of the 650 billion going?  Who's going to pay for that tax increase?

Why not keep it simple?  Set the standard and let utilities decide without the new cap and trade taxes on how to comply?  It's like many Americans will be paying twice.  First for the tax, and then for the improvements.  Raping Americans in the process.  Some will get rich, those that manage the scheme.

Why not just eliminate the profit motive?  Wouldn't it be easier to eliminate the political influence and give utilities the opportunity to improve?

It's one of the anti-American Administration (and shadow governments) finest hours.

The false cap and trade market that Obama was associated with years ago in Chicago.  Another payback?

just my humble opinions.

If the present cap and trade bill was a good thing, it would be about cleaning up pollution, not about making large profits on the backs of Americans and taxpayers.

It would be about leaving the environment cleaner than the energy consumer found it.

Hidden cap and trade taxes will ramp up job losses, cost Americans billions, and put off cleaning up the environment.

Clean up the environment - don't waste peoples money on phoney market/ponzi/ripp-off schemes.

"One policy being pushed by the President and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is, I regret to say, a poster child for government that cannot work," Daniels said. "The scheme to radically change the sources and the cost of American energy through a system known as 'cap and trade' may be well intentioned, but it will cost us dearly in jobs and income, and it stands no chance of achieving its objective of a cooler earth."

Daniels served as director of the Office of Management and Budget under President George W. Bush. He suggested the real goal of cap-and-trade is to generate revenue to pay for administration programs.

After the government doubles your energy bill, the utility company will still have to find a way to fund cleanup.  After thinking about this, I would imagine my energy bill going up 300 - 400 percent.

My cost to subsidize the poor will also increase - raising my local and state taxes too.

Some businesses that don't currently pollute under the new law will prosper.  Why should they be included if they already meet the target?

It still seems like a hugh welfare bill and will not do anything to clean up pollution.  It will also send jobs overseas.
