Recalls: soy bean sprouts
Chang Farm is recalling soy bean sprouts with the sell-by date of July 17, 2009, because the products might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the company. The recalled products are packaged in 10-pound bulk bags and 12-ounce retail plastic bags, labeled under the Chang Farm brand as soy sprouts. The products were distributed to retail stores and wholesalers throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. For more information, consumers can call 413-222-5519.
