Police Looking For Missing DeLeon Springs Boy
Kaleb Carreli, 5, Last Seen In Back Yard

DELAND, Fla. -- Volusia County police said they are searching for a missing 5-year-old DeLeon Springs boy who was last seen in the back yard of his home.

Kaleb Carreli is described as a white male, standing about 45 inches tall and weighing 52 pounds. He has blue eyes, blond hair and a star-shaped scar over his left eyebrow.

Police said he was last seen at 5:15 p.m. at 2545 Place Pond Road, wearing a green shirt, black cargo pants and no shoes.

"The Sheriff's Office has deputies, K-9 units and a helicopter out searching for the boy who might have wandered off into the nearby woods," said Brandon Haught, of the department's public information office.

Anyone who has information regarding Carreli's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or 386-736-5999.

DELEON SPRINGS -- A frantic search is under way in Volusia County for a missing 5-year-old boy.

Volusia County Sheriff's deputies said Kaleb Carreli was last seen playing in the backyard of his home on the 2500 block of Place Pond Road.

According to the sheriff's office, Kaleb's mother saw him chase a dog into the woods. The mother yelled for him to come back, but Kaleb kept going.

Kaleb is about 3 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 52 pounds.

He has blue eyes, blond hair and a star-shaped scar over his left eyebrow.

He was wearing a green shirt, black cargo shorts and no shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to called the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Kaleb Carreli is white and stands about 4 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 52 pounds. He has blue eyes, blond hair and a star-shaped scar over his left eyebrow. He was wearing a green shirt, black cargo shorts and no shoes. He was last seen at about 5:15 p.m. at 2545 Place Pond Road, DeLeon Springs.

The Sheriff's Office has deputies searching for the boy who might have wandered off into the nearby woods.

"We're doing everything we can. Right now we have blood hounds on the ground and helicopters in the air," said Volusia County Sheriff Ben F. Johnson.  "At this time, we don't suspect foul play."

Please call 386-736-5999 if you have information about Kaleb's whereabouts or call 911 if there is an emergency.

Well good Lord this already sounds suspitious, why didnt the Mother just run after him, who yells for a 5 year old to come back and then just waits for him to do so.....I cant believe this.

It's hard to get an exact...pretty rural.

Yea, there's lots and lots of woods, I just meant how far this is from Deland or Daytone or Port Orange.....that way Ill know how close to my brothers house.

Well I hope that they find him and he is ok. This kind of reminds me of that case where that kid was lost in the woods and was found two days later alive and well, just a little dehydrated. I hope he is ok.

This is something all together different , this child is suppose to be barefoot, do you know how hard it is to wlk in these kind of woods barefoot, he couldnt have gone far without shoes, not  possible.

OMG HH.. There is nothing but woods and ponds and creeks...

I still say something is funny about this, but will have to wait for the rest of the story, I cant tell you how many times my daughter and my son wlked out into the woods when they were little ...only to get caught in a thorn vine or blackberry vines and start yelling the second the thorns got them, I could find them in a second just by listening to where they were walking, leaves and limbs and dead foliage makes alot of noise when stepped on.

Me too. I have been so upset this week about Shaniya.....
This one has a happy ending, and I am so relieved. He's a darling little boy, and I know his family must be so grateful that it ended so well. This is that rare case that has a good outcome.
