ORLANDO -- Crucial decisions were made by the judge in the case against Casey Anthony.

Judge Stan Strickland signed three orders Wednesday, and it’s not good news for the defense.
   
The judge denied two of the defense’s motions.

Video of jail visits with Casey’s family will not be destroyed, and nine charges related to the check fraud case will not be thrown out.
   
We are still waiting for the judge to rule on the defense motion asking to take the death penalty off the table.
   
The final order prevents an audio recording with a former EquuSearch volunteer from being made public.

I was trying to post about that video and didn't realize the thread had changed so seeing as how I don't know how to bring it over....... seems a little strange that this one video  is so much better than any she's ever done. So polished, so lacking her usual trademark stupid stuff, so timely that right as she was poised to "eye witness"  things to save the day. All the pics, very personal, obviously a gift from the A's. WHY?  Who orchestrated it?  Not trying to be a debbiedowner about a sweet look at Caylee but I smell Anthony all over this.

Judge Stan Strickland has denied a request by Casey Anthony's defense to stop the Orange County Jail from releasing video recordings when friends visit her.
On the Today Show Tuesday, the Anthonys said they hoped the motion would be granted.

Judge Strickland also refused to throw out charges in Casey's check fraud case.

H did grant a motion by the State to block the release of an illegally recorded interview with Joe Jordan, who helped search for Caylee's body.

I hate that i just can't see the sweetness of it but every time to me it seems like there's a devious reason for everything.

When the County addressed the motion made by the defense they lumped everything in one as well.  I agree No/Denied  means No/Denied and the whole thing is shot down.

Casey Anthony: Defense team suffers setbacks

“These [decisions] are not good news for the Anthony legal team — the theme here is denied,” WESH-Channel 2 anchor Martha Sugalski said this afternoon.

Judge Stan Strickland today rejected two motions by Casey Anthony’s legal team. The developments opened the 4 p.m. news on WESH.

WESH’s Bob Kealing explained that Strickland denied the defense’s motion that nine of 13 check-fraud charges should be dismissed because they constituted double jeopardy. The result: Anthony will face trial Jan. 25 on all 13 counts.

Strickland also denied the defense’s motion that tapes of Anthony’s family visits  be destroyed. But the judge hasn’t decided whether future tapes of any Anthony family visits might be blocked. George and Cindy Anthony have not seen their daughter in 14 months and told the “Today” this week that they don’t go to the Orange County Jail because the visits are picked apart by the public and the media.

Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Kealing said that Anthony defense attorney Jose Baez had said Friday that he expected not to win on the motions. “And he was right,” Kealing added.

In discussing this case and the complex appellate process with  “go to” criminal appellate lawyer, Terrance Kehoe who practices in Orlando, Florida, the defense motions under discussion here are the types of motions filed by criminal trial lawyers in most “death cases”.  Although lawyers may disagree as to the merits of the various motions at this time, they are filed in order to preserve the issue (or argument) for the many appeals that follow.  We are mindful that although the current status of the law may not support these motions today, the law is always evolving and changing, meaning what may seem a frivolous argument now, could, in fact, be the status of the law sometime in the future. And, should the law change in favor of the arguments advanced in these various motions, it may well be an argument put forth in one of these motions that saves Casey Anthony from lethal injection.

Judge Denies 2 Casey Anthony Defense Motions

ORLANDO, Fla.-- A judge ruled Wednesday on three of the motions that came up during Friday’s emotional Casey Anthony hearing. In two of them, he ruled against the defense.

This time, Judge Stan Strickland denied defense motions without any kind of explanation. He refused to drop nine of the charges Casey faces for stealing and cashing her best friend's checks (read ruling) and refused to order the destruction of jail videos (read ruling), which are public records.

The Orange County jail videotaped Casey Anthony's visits with her family and the public records have been broadcast all over the world. Some of the videos aren't so flattering to Casey and the defense says the cameras have kept her family away for more than a year.

The defense also claims Casey's being treated unfairly, because she faces multiple charges for each check she stole and cashed and wanted the judge to drop nine of them.

Judge Strickland said no to both requests without giving reasons.

“The less merit a judge finds in a motion, the more likely a judge is just going to deny it without explanation,” WFTV legal expert Bill Sheaffer said.

During last Friday's hearing, the judge indicated the defense wants him to make new laws for Casey's benefit.

“Aren't you asking me to reinvent the wheel?” Judge Strickland questioned.

“It's not his job as a trial judge and he's not gonna do it,” Sheaffer said.

Casey appeared to cry Friday as the defense tried to argue for family jail visits without cameras and for a murder case without the death penalty to get what they called more "open-minded" jurors. But, when it was about Caylee, when prosecutors surprised everyone with their theory of how Casey would have had to have somehow restrained the 3-year-old to stop her from pulling three pieces of duct tape from her nose and mouth so she could breathe, Casey's cold, steely expression changed only after words from defense attorney Jose Baez. Even then, no tears were visible.

“Either she needs to hone her acting skills or she needs to just be herself,” Sheaffer said.

The judge granted the prosecution's motion to seal an illegal recording made by an EquuSearch volunteer of his interview with defense investigators (read ruling). Apparently, he told the defense and prosecutors two different things about whether he searched the same woods months before Caylee's remains were found there.

The judge has yet to rule on the death penalty and whether the Anthonys can visit without jail cameras.

Isn’t there a motion for JB to have atty visits with KC that are not video taped? If I recall correctly, the school room they meet in has video equipment running minus the audio…….I remember it being mentioned that he could just request a different room without the video equipment but don’t think that settled the issue.

You know I was just thinking to myself so okay the A's won't go visit cause of all the taping then releasing to media..well then what do they think will happen after she is sentenced if presumed guilty..do they think that we will let up on this story I don't think so there are tons of us Monkey's here that will want to see if she EVER admits some sort of guilt and all we have to do is request it due to the sunshine laws in FL..so my message to the A's don't think that just cause this is some "hot" story that it will go away even if your daughter is guilty and finds herself in jail and you go to visit it will be taped and WE WILL request it!!!  So A's are you NEVER going to see your daughter?? That's the question I'd would ask!

I love it that Sheaffer also thought it was all an act.  I don't think that Baez tapped her on the shoulder to whisper sweet nothings in her ear.  I think he told her to cry.  I think she gave it the old college try, but couldn't squeeze out a tear so she hid her face behind her hair and Lyon's ample arm.  "Make him stop!"  Yeah, I guess Caylee wanter her mother to stop, too, as she was applying the duct tape.

IMO everything any of the Anthonys do is an act.

I think it's all a load of "carp." I don't think the Anthonys do not visit because of videotaping at all.

I think Casey refuses to see them. And she can keep refusing til she dies.

I agree and I think Baez is sort of a Svengali--telling Casey not to see her parents and he knows what is best for her. I think Casey is enamoured of him and will do whatever he says.  I also think that if George and Cindy visit her, especially Cindy, Casey will not be able to control herself and neither will Cindy.  Casey will screw up her face like a lemon and clinch her fists and threaten to leave.  Cindy will beg.  George will act goofy with his chairman of the board nonsense.  Not good.

I think Casey has no desire to see either one of them and has made her own mind up to this, without Baez' influence. Like everyone else in her life, he has a purpose, but that's all.
Meanwhile the Anthonys like to pretend everything between them and Casey is just wonderful, as it always has been....

Yes, that is exactly what I saw.  She was sitting there apparently uninvolved in what was going on in the courtroom when Baez tapped her on the shoulder and whispered something in her ear and she immediately started pretending to cry and wipe away the tears. She's like an automaton with him.  Performs on cue. I didn't realize that Lyon grabbed her arm before Casey turned to hide behind her hair.  I didn't note at what point Lyon grabbed Casey's arm, but I assume that Dr. Glass is correct as to the sequence.  Another interesting thing I noted was that Casey was dabbing the corners of her eyes with her index finger, not the middle finger as she was when she was gesturing to her father. She dabs, then inspects, dabs, then inspects.  Folks, this was not an Oscar worthy performance.

And as loca said, it's about power with Baez.  All of his life he has been a wimpy fat loser.  Now he has a chance at the big time, but only so long as he can control Casey.  That means he is the only avenue by which she can communicate with the world.  Good-bye mommy and daddy.  I belong to Jose' now.  Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say. 

And BYW, thanks tupelo.  You've been stellar today with your bringing sites for us to check out.

The reporter mentions that Judge Strickland has not ruled on the " Future" visits/tapes where they will be blocked/permitted for public. The  ::MonkeyEek:: is what the reporter says.. That possibly a Plea Deal is in the Works. That there has been "talk"
because Casey is due in court on Jan 25, 10 to face the 13 felony charges.

If nothing happens between today and the court date ..then the Judge will decide on the " future " releases/non of visits...etc..  I wonder what the inside scoop is? And I wonder why George and Cindy made it a point to go on air yesterday? Was it because of Casey's lack her of emotions/empathy that were " authentic" on Friday last wk in court??? That Cindy wanted to go on the air for " clean up duty within the Casey aisle "?

There is no way they want to go into the DP trial with prior convictions for the Freud case.   I can not see her getting off the fraud case with all the videos.  I really hope C & G are not putting heat on Amy to back down.

I'm sure this has been mentioned previously but I've never seen it mentioned (again I'm always lagging behind and I know this topic was most likely discussed at length prior to my joining Scared Monkeys).  I find it interesting that Casey supposedly described Zenaida as a "10".  I can't imagine her describing any other woman as a "10" unless she is referring to herself.  Casey had to be the prettiest, the smartest, the most popular, etc. among her circle.  In my opinion, Casey would NEVER relenquish that to another female.  Cindy says that when Casey lies, there's always some truth.  Is Casey really describing Zenaida or is that her own version of herself, her alias Zenaida?  In my opinion, she is Zenaida.. not certifiable as in multiple personality disorder, but I truly believe Casey viewed herself as simply the nanny when it came to Caylee (remember her resume with the position of nanny on it).  Cindy took the mother role for Caylee. 

This of course would lead to Casey is telling the truth in her own demented way, the nanny is the last person who saw Caylee.  Casey just failed to mention that it was after she murdered her and while she was dumping the baby in the woods.

If this has been discussed previously I do apologize.  I've just never seen any reference to it.

This is a captured image of a sociopath that is exhibiting absolute disdain & defiance, irate beyond measure at those that have exposed the truth - her tears are for herself that she is screwed, blued and tattooed (previously often literally).  I cant swear to precisely what was said by Bozo to Casey during Lyons arguments but I distinctly heard something about crying...so there you go (if I didnt know better I swear Lyons was pinching her to make her cry).   At the beginning of the hearing before the judge entered,  Casey was smiling & laughing, at that time I heard her discussing with Lyons that someone gave her mother a tissue but again could not make out verbatim what was said (contempt and sarcasm were on her face)

Capp, you are so right and describe Casey's state of mind perfectly. What pains me most is the realization that this was most likely the last facial expression that sweet Caylee saw before she left this world. The only thought that makes that bearable is knowing the perfect love and peace she immediately found on the other side.

Judge denies Casey Anthony's motions

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A judge has denied a request to destroy videos of family visits in jail with a Florida mother charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter.

Circuit Judge Stan Strickland didn't offer any explanation for denying a request by Casey Anthony that would have forced the Orange County Jail to destroy videos of the visits with her parents. The videos are subject to public record laws and can be scrutinized by the media and others.

The judge also denied a defense request to dismiss some check fraud charges against Anthony.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty and her trial is expected to start next year.

I too can also agree with this. I just recently took a stroll down crazy lane, and listened to all of the previous recorded transcripts/and videos in this case. It is almost obvious that Casey was so self involved that she would even characterize a false identity to have her stunning good looks....Does anyone remember the scene in the Jim Carey movie, Liar Liar, where he has some spell placed upon himself where he cant lie? If so then you will remember the scene where he, "kicks his own ass" but when asked to describe his assailant, he cannot lie, so he describes himself, and all the officers run out of court to find this assailant?????? Well this is EXACTLY what i see when Casey describe Zanny to CinCin. She's about 5'7'' about 140, a bit more meat than me. Has curly hair, but wears it straight, "yes mom its called a straightener, remember thats where i got mine from".....Although she claims she had seen Zanny in a bathing suit and she had seen no visible tattoos....but in a perfect world i can see Casey wishing she was 5'7'' and meatier, with no visible ugly tattoos. While watching this court proceeding, I personally felt like a juror watching Casey's ever changing response to her surroundings. I saw her make this very face, and BAM knew that every feeling in my gut was right. I don't know how many monkeys are familiar with my background, but I was in a very tragic car accident that ended the life of my
bestfriend/boyfriend. To put this lightely, I have been put in the position that Casey is in. I attended court proceedings, and read transcripts, that described in detail how i "unlawfully killed" my baby. I honestly cannot remember once entering the courtroom and chuckling with my lawyer. Or sitting while they described the series of events, and felt anger. Instead I spent court date, after courtdate a hopeless wreck!! Tears, jerks, boogers, the real works... Casey didn't even drop a tear, and as soon as she made this face, I knew what we have held as evidence, is in fact something she did. Uh!!  ::MonkeyNoNo::

Denied and denied.

Orange Circuit Court Stan Strickland issued these rulings today in the motions heard last week in the case against Casey Anthony.

He denied the defense' request to order the jail to destroy video of any visits Anthony has with her family. Her parents, Cindy and George Anthony, have said they haven't visit their daughter at the jail in a year for fear the videos of their visits will be released to the public and be picked apart by TV commentators. Previous visits last year were released.

Strickland denied the defense's request to dismiss any of the 13 counts of various fraud charges filed against Anthony. She's accused of taking without permission a checkbook that belong to a friend and writing several checks to pay for clothes and groceries.

The judge ruled that statement of Joe Jordon, who was a volunteer for Texas EquuSearch, which was recorded in October can't be released. Texas EquuSearch is a volunteer group that helped look for Caylee last year. Jordon illegally recorded a conversation he had with a defense investigator without the investigator's consent.

Anthony, 23, is charged with first-degree murder and remains in the Orange County Jail. She's accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, last year. The toddler was reported missing in July 2008 and her remains were found five months later scattered in woods near her home.

Strickland heard several motions on Friday. He's expected to rule soon on the remaining two issues, which include whether the state can pursue the death penalty and whether the jail can continue to record Anthony's visits with her attorneys.

Interesting topic, Goodn...Hmmm, I don't think there is anything left for them to say.  Too many obstacles in their way, (and I don't mean the video cameras.  I think that is a smoke screen obscuring some damaging videos we haven't seen, as well as something Baez is hiding.)  There are so many elephants in the room the jail could double as a big top circus!  Just for starters, the cremation of Caylee against Casey's wishes, the social activities of the A's, including the cruise, NYC trips, and the bears, oh, my.  Also, add in the "neglect" of Casey.  No flattering,pressed courtroom apparel and the minimal donations to her commissary account could trigger an outburst.  Remember, to Casey, it's all about ME!

Noiz, I am so sorry for your loss.  You have first hand experience of a sort that is life changing and my prayers go out to you. 

If they were truly standing by her as they claim, I would think that nothing would stop them from visiting her. Even if it meant only talking about the weather. Besides, didn't C&G claim that when she was home with them that they didn't really talk about anything (at that time relating to what actually happened-and how Caylee went missing)? Am I remembering something that wasn't really said? I don't but know for some reason I thought I remember hearing that because I thought I remember thinking to myself, how could they not talk about it?? This was a long time ago, before Oct 08.

Yes, I believed it at the time to be a lie too because like I said, how could they not talk about it? I had a hard time believing they wouldn't talk about their (then) "missing" granddaughter. But, if that were true than they shouldn't have a problem visiting her in jail cause they wouldn't have to talk about it. But they also say it's because everyone will pick apart everything. Hi, No Rose,  I'm on the same branch with you about Casey's Clone, Zanny.  I just wish we could see the driver's license the LEO took out of Casey's wallet.  That's never been entered into evidence, has it?  Everything else is documented so I believe this is the part of the smoking gun proof that the State has.  Just one more shovel of dirt to add to the pile.

Good Morning Monks....finally got caught up.....
 
I talked with an attorney friend last night regarding MY confusion with the order that was denied that only mentioned  not destroying the videos.....my friend said the order was for the entire motion....so the video taping of any visits family/friends (not that she has any friends left) will continued to be video taped and released via the Sunshine Law. My friend, although she does NOT practice law in Fl, but in TX said IHO  the defense knew this was never going to fly and could have been a collaboration of the defense and BC to try to diffuse all the chatter about the A's NOT visiting their daughter. She also agrees with me that it's not because of the videos, but because KC doesn't want to see them. Now whether this is her choice alone or because JB has told her...'whatever'.... anyway thought I'd share this with you.

Just got caught up. Someone said they went through memory lane. I did tool. JB said he wanted Casey not to be treated like everyone one else and have visits that weren't recorded. Then he said he wanted her to be treated like everyone else and have check fraud charges dropped. I was watching the bond hearing where he chastised YM for going on vacation with Caylee missing. According to their depo George Cindy and Lee think she is still alive but they went on a cruise and didn't KC go on a 31 day vacation. Sorry this isn't what your discussing but I had it on my mind.

Got a question... IF the driver's license ID has Zenaida Gonzalez on it as speculated, why in the world would they have originally taken the death penalty off the table? Doesn't this prove that KC lied about the nanny?

I think it's a bit of both. KC has got to be infuriated with her whole family. The Ants for the cremation against her will, after all it's HER child, not Cindy's, the cruise/tv/foundation thing. What has KC gained out of all that? Nothing. If it wasn't for her, they would have lost their house, etc. a long time ago. What does she get? Pity deposits in her account and no visits. They can't chance the ants showing up in front of KC cause she will go ballistic!! She can't keep the distain and loathing off of her face. Plus, with her denying them visitation, she remains in control.

Come on, if you can't visit your "Innocent" daughter, don't ya think they would at least put a couple thousand in her commissary account so she could have some luxuries??

I know zip about the law on this one, but my conjecture is that it was a bargaining chip to get Casey to spill where Caylee was buried.  I don't know, though.  Now I'm confused.

 I have posted on this before and you might see it and think wow that was you. I'm not accusing anyone of anything I just think it's interesting. Everyone wants a when and where but more important they want a why. I think above all else is that Caylee was beginning to really express herself. It may have been that she simply could tell where Casey was and that she didn't work and was being a ho. All I'm going to say is I put 2 things together and thought hmmm. Monkalicious  I love it when both Casey and Cindy are "Frushtrated."  It tickles me to see Casey screw up her face like a prune and clench her fists.  There's not one thing she can do to prevent  her parents living it up on the money they get because she killed her daughter.  She couldn't even choke Cindy if she wanted to.  They are in a building across the street when they visit.

I never bought her rape rants either! Most everyone who knew Casey classified her as a habitual liar. Her friend Ryan Pasley said she was a "white liar". Eh! Casey had horrible furry on her face, it actually frightened me. If she does something like that during the trial, the jury will certainly be watching that. It sent chills down my spine. The ONLY reason why the defense raised the motion regarding her parents visiting was to garner sympathy from the public/potential jury pool & at every opportunity they can attempt to cite outrage of mistreatment & unfairness toward Casey - I can assure you that they will fail pretty much each and every time as we've seen this week & as another example when Bozo raised the stink about how she was treated in jail.   Another distinct example of this is when they hit the airwaves in a media blist to whine about Casey being taped (standard procedure) in a common area of the jail when she was told that Caylee's remains were found,, another when they foolishly argued to the cameras that her original bond was too high.   More of the same surely to follow.

I strongly suspect that Casey does not want to see her parents, when she had a few remarks to Lyons about someone giving her mother a tissue before the hearing last Friday that seemed to indicate that suspicion is founded.  Casey is a sociopath with narcissistic traits, trust me if that monster wanted to see her parents she would make it dramatically known (similar to how dramatically she told the world that she was outraged with her mother for making arrangements for Caylee's remains & funeral that went against her wishes).   If you watch Casey in court she NEVER rubbernecks to get a glimpse of her parents, never attempts to motion or say anything to them - in fact, quite the opposite she avoids eye contact with them.   It may be true that they cannot communicate in court, per se BUT in many, many cases we have witnessed gestures & mouthed words to family members by defendants no matter what the court protocol indicates.

Casey Anthony’s tears in court on Friday were still being studied yesterday.

And that’s a sign of how closely her reactions will be dissected when her check-fraud and murder trials begin. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

The prosecution stunned observers Friday with its graphic theory about how the child was murdered. WFTV-Channel 9 returned to Anthony’s reactions in a report yesterday on Judge Stan Strickland’s decision to deny several defense motions.

WFTV’s Kathi Belich observed that Anthony “seemed to cry”  as the defense argued several motions, but when the  prosecution offered its theory about the child’s death “Casey’s cold, steely expression changed only after words from defense attorney Jose Baez. Even then, still no tears were visible.”

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said of Anthony: “Either she needs to hone her acting skills or she needs to be herself.”

Orange Circuit Court Stan Strickland issued these rulings today in the motions heard last week in the case against Casey Anthony.

He denied the defense' request to order the jail to destroy video of any visits Anthony has with her family. Her parents, Cindy and George Anthony, have said they haven't visit their daughter at the jail in a year for fear the videos of their visits will be released to the public and be picked apart by TV commentators. Previous visits last year were released.

Strickland denied the defense's request to dismiss any of the 13 counts of various fraud charges filed against Anthony. She's accused of taking without permission a checkbook that belong to a friend and writing several checks to pay for clothes and groceries.

The judge ruled that statement of Joe Jordon, who was a volunteer for Texas EquuSearch, which was recorded in October can't be released. Texas EquuSearch is a volunteer group that helped look for Caylee last year. Jordon illegally recorded a conversation he had with a defense investigator without the investigator's consent.

Anthony, 23, is charged with first-degree murder and remains in the Orange County Jail. She's accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, last year. The toddler was reported missing in July 2008 and her remains were found five months later scattered in woods near her home.

Strickland heard several motions on Friday. He's expected to rule soon on the remaining two issues, which include whether the state can pursue the death penalty and whether the jail can continue to record Anthony's visits with her attorneys.

The real reason the Ants do not want the jail to tape their visits is because they do not get paid for it once it is released, nor a trip, hotel and crab puffs.  Now if the mean old justice system would just get with the times and treat them like all the morning shows do they would have no issue about seeing their daughter dearest in jail.  JMO

OK- from what I am reading on the web- so don't take it as gospel- he had a conversation with Mort Smith- the defense's Private Investigator ( works at the same college as A Lyons) discussing his efforts to search the Suburban drive area. He taped this conversation, which was illegal, and so it can not be evidence, can't even be listened to by SA or the defense as the Judge has sealed it...    now, according to where you are reading,Mort Smith apparently told JJ that 'they' had searched that area-  and also is supposed to have made suggestions that if JJ found anything he report it to the Defense, not LE.  Make what you want of that.

A judge won't stop Orange County Jail officials from recording visits between Casey Anthony and her attorneys.

Orange Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland ruled Thursday on the defense's request to stop those recordings. He wrote in the two-page order that he can't force the jail to "cease and desist from videotaping Ms. Anthony's meeting with her attorneys."

However, he does have concerns about content of any videotape that might be released and has seen at least one that would impact Anthony's right to a fair trial, Strickland wrote.

It's unclear which video the judge is referring to in his motion. Several months ago, Strickland did stop the release of a video that showed Anthony's reaction when she learned about her daughter's remains.

Anthony, 23, is charged with first-degree murder. Her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, disappeared in the summer of 2008. Her remains were found on Dec. 11, 2008 in woods less than a mile from her family's home.

Her defense team complained that their meetings with Anthony in the jail were being recorded. Jail officials say it's for security purposes and the video has no audio.

Strickland ordered that he must view — behind closed doors — any video of visits with her attorney before it's released to the public.

I was just going to type the same thing - after she is convicted and gone either to hell or prison the media interest will dry up and that will be the end of them. They will then be faced with the hardcore reality that they are a washed up middle aged couple that may have lived a bit high on the hog for awhile but with out family and their grandchild they are the poorest people on earth - I hope the sad reality hits them right between the eyes and it hurts real bad.

I am still in a quandary why JJ did this...it seems he intended to record the interview.....so perhaps he was playing the investigators? Why would he tell the defense something different...unless he had a reason? Then he took the recording to the State....if the bolded statement above is correct...perhaps his intuition was a good thing after all.  ::MonkeyDevil::.

If that is true about Jordan giving two different stories, it doesn't make sense to me, he seemed genuine about searching for Caylee, oh I hope this isn't another Joy fiasco in the making. I know he seems to have his head on tighter then Joy, but I find it strange he would tell different stories.

I am sure that the tape that Judge Strickland is referring to is the one taken when Casey was informed that a skull had been found on Suburban drive - if her reaction to that news was aired publicly it might prejudice her chance of a fair trial....   

I can't imagine meetings between attorneys and their clients being taped and released for public viewing.  Traditionally and in fact Constitutionally such meetings are never intruded upon by third parties.  The Florida Sunshine Law in this regard concerns me a great deal.  Certainly Judge Strickland ruled according to State law which he is bound to do, but I question the wisdom of this part of FL's Sunshine Law and fear it may be grounds for a successful appeal if Casey is convicted.

Even through Cindy and George Anthony’s words on The Today Show say that they believe their daughter Casey is innocent, their body language clearly says something different. Their body language says they know their daughter is guilty of killing their granddaughter Caylee. CINDY AND GEORGE MUST CLAIM SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALLOWING CASEY’S BAD BEHAVIOR IN THE PAST

I have always found Cindy Anthony’s yelling, belligerence, anger, rudeness, obnoxious and inappropriate gum chewing, manipulation, and hostility extremely offensive. While my dear friend Nancy Grace, who’s show on which I regularly appear on Headline News cuts Cindy a lot of slack just because she is a parent and is defending her daughter, I refuse to do so.

Like Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla who has seen Cindy up close and personal when he first bailed Casey out of jail, I find that Cindy is a large part of why Casey is in the predicament she is in.

While it is not always the parent’s fault that a child misbehaves as they do, in this case, I believe Cindy and George as well must take responsibility for letting their daughter run amuck over their lives. They knew about Casey’s lying and bad behavior throughout the years, yet they did nothing to stop it. We have sat here for over a year waiting for this  to begin and it has just started

I cannot wait til this trial starts and they put all the  sweet  pics of Caylee  in that court room
and make Casey look at them day after day...

Seeing all her friends and family get on the stand then seeing pics of the remains of lil Caylee and what she has  done to her lil girl

I really dont know how they are gonna controll her because then she will realize this is NOT about her its gonna be ALL about Caylee and getting JUSTICE for Caylee!!!!!

I want to comment on Dr. Glass' excellent article but I don't want to post her entire article again.  IMO she is right on the mark.  I believe that Cindy holds herself responsible for her granddaughter's death at least in part but will never admit it aloud and possibly never even to herself.  And I, too, hold Cindy responsible to some degree. During Casey's upbringing, Cindy  smoothed the way that led to this horrific act.  Never holding Casey responsible; Never admitting Casey or she could be wrong.  And as surely as night follows the day, it resulted in Caylee's death.  As Dr. Glass said, Cindy set no boundaries for Casey's behaviour. And Casey, being a sociopath, set herself no boundaries. 

Most of us put limits on our behaviour.  These are self-imposed and beyond them we will not go.  Casey went to any limits for self-gratification. Having never been taught, if she were capable of learning, civilization requires certain taboos.  The most important taboo in almost all cultures is murder.  And the murder of one's own offspring is somewhat rare even in the most barbaric cultures. But to Cindy and Casey, common mores don't apply.  They, Cindy and Casey,  occupy some exhalted position where the rules the rest of us live by are insignificant to the point of not existing.

While ultimately the blame must be put upon Casey, Cindy's participation in molding her into the creature she is must be recognized. IMO Cindy's almost hysterical acts on the night of July 15 and since then in an effort to tamper with evidence, interfere with the investigation and even lie to investigators should be addressed by law enforcement.

I also want to comment on Dr. Glass' pointing out that Cindy often says Caylee when she means Casey also indicates that Cindy doesn't emotionally recognize that her daughter and granddaughter are two different people.  They seem to be interchangeable in her mind.  And I also think that there was no separating line in Cindy's mind between her and Casey.  They are part of an intermingled organism with no division between them.  I have seen other mothers feel themselves to be part of their offspring to the point they can't recognize that they are two separate individuals.

So, IMO, Dr. Glass is correct when she says that Cindy is somewhat to blame for starting the series of events, beginning when Casey was an infant, that led inexorably to Caylee's murder.   

Yeah, OK.  I can't wait to see her face when she is blasted to little bitty pieces by LD-B.  I will take great pleasure in seeing it and while I am not especially proud of it, well, that's the way it is.   ::MonkeyDevil:: ::MonkeyDevil::

Dr. Glass on the money once again.   However, for a psychologist she should know that albeit Cindy & George could have interceded long before Casey's unwed pregnancy, etc. as well as not providing the toxic environment which indeed were triggers for Casey, they could not have prevented her from being a sociopath.    The fact that Casey is a sociopath meshing with such an unstable environment with examples for parents with a host of issues themselves, yes it is no wonder but certainly not an excuse for any of Casey's bad acts prior to killing Caylee & certainly not for killing an innocent precious baby knowing full well what the difference from right & wrong is.   She committed the ultimate selfish crime & was void of any emotion regarding her own flesh & blood, it doesnt get any more heinous than that, morally speaking.   The fact that Casey went through such great lengths to conceal her heinous & atrocious act to the extent that she did proves that she was well aware that what she did was well beyond wrong, despicable doesnt even cover it.   Everyone has had difficulties & adversities in life, its no defense to use those life experiences as excuses nor harm others in the process.   We live in a world where even if not provided at home, examples of decency, acceptable behavior, responsibility & accountability are all around us - to ignore the obvious is a choice deplorable individuals make.

Thank you for posting this.  I found it to be very interesting reading.  I have to say.... I rewatched that interview as I had recorded it on the DVR.  Upon watching them closely, I too see that Cindy looks like she is giving in to the fact that her daughter is a murderer.  And George, just from what he told the detectives in the early interviews, I think he has suspected the truth all along.  They are coming to the end of the denial road and it is only going to get worse for them as this trial progresses.  I do think Casey will be convicted.  I hope the death penalty will be her sentence.

Anthony's lawyers filed a motion to prohibit the procedure, but Judge Stan Strickland said he'll allow their release, but not before he signs off on it.

He said state law favors public access.

Strickland also said he'll prohibit their release if he believes it will be prejudicial to her case.

In his ruling, the judge said any delay in the release of any recordings would be minimal, and the defendant's right to counsel and access to the courts would be protected.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A judge has denied Casey Anthony's defense team's request to prevent the Orange County Jail from recording Anthony's visits with lawyers.
Judge Stan Strickland issued his ruling Thursday afternoon. He acknowledged that the release of these videos could affect Anthony's right to a fair trial, however, so he will view any video of taped visits involving Anthony before they are released to the public.

"The court has witnessed at least one prior video, which could arguably affect the defendant's right to a fair trial, as well as jury selection," Strickland said in his ruling.

In a hearing last week, Anthony's attorneys argued that the 23-year-old, who is facing a death penalty case, needed support from her family, which she is not able to get due to fear that any visits will be released to the media.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony. Caylee was two when she was reported missing in July 2008, one month after she was last seen alive.

The toddler's body was found in a wooded area near Anthony's parents' home in East Orange County in Dec. 2008.

Anthony is being held at the Orange County Jail on no bond.

Good morning, Monkeys!  I need some help understanding something.  Have we ever seen an attorney/defendant video?  I am curious because I thought it was only family/friend visitation that was available under the Sunshine Laws.  As I understood it, the video that Judge S. ordered sealed of Casey's reaction to the discovery of Caylee's remains did not include Baez.  Why hasn't some enterprising media type requested video of the attorney visits?  This is confusing me--I need some of Searcher's coffee.

Good morning monkeys!! The free time iv had this week, iv spent on SM and i am so grateful that all of you are still deeply devoted to seek justice for our angel Caylee Marie. Now Iv been reading the posts about your confusion of the ruling strickland made. Although I am a law student, im only a law student in CA so this may not apply to FL. From what I recall the "reaction to the remains" tape has been sealed and will never be seen by us, ever. It was in violation of Casey's rights, because she was in a medical facility of the jail. Much like the lawyer, client confidentiality. This is why they are saying that the lawyer visits are not going to be released until after the trial ends, as to not taint the jury pool. Its too bad, i would give up smoking for life to watch that "reactions to the remains" video! I hope this has cleared up some of your Q's. JMO

No Im sorry we have not ever seen any videos between Crazy Casey and Bozo, its completely illegal to have those videos released while the trial is ongoing. I guess FL is different because from what I understood lawyer client visits are not supposed to be recorded, as they are apart of your civil rights in order to receive a fair trial...This case gets under my skin, thank god for my morning toke!! hehe.. My analysis of this picture:
Baez sees kc is starting to get angry.  He knew she would and his face says she's not doing what he told her to do (fake cry).  Instead, he sees her "winding up" and this is when he whispers something in her ear (you better not show any emotion unless it's tears, remember what I told you").
AL has kc's arm, not in a comforting hold, but in a controlling hold.  Look at AL's eyes, they say it all.  To me she is saying "you better check the attitude" (she's probably been sternly coached to never ever show anger and AL looks like she wants to slap her to me).
kc is pissed.  big time.  instead of being angry at the SA's statement, she should be ashamed if she did kill Caylee, or distraught to learn for the very first time that her baby's mouth and nose were taped shut and she probably suffered before her death.  She was neither, so isn't that really all we need to know?  She's never expressed any anger towards the invisible nanny she claims kidnapped Caylee and even suggested they all forgive her.  So, the anger is not for the nanny, it's all for the SA.  She's mad because he got it wrong and she didn't use chloroform to sedate her. (IMO)

I am more than positive, much to Bozo's dismay, that Casey is beginning to harbor negative feelings against Lyons as she does her mother.   This murdering ho ho ho does not like not being in control, much less told what to do nor when anyone does not serve her purpose.   Funny, she was laughing, smiling & exchanging comments with Lyons exhibiting a "tude" regarding her mother being given tissues (smirk very visible) but it seems to have been made clear to Casey that no one "in her corner" can stop the truth and/or justice prevailing.

A little arm chair analyzing here but it seems that kc only tolerates females if they are not superior to her or she feels that she's way cuter,smarter or in control of the situation.
With men, including Baez, she thinks that her feminine wiles are the key to getting what she wants, and it used to kinda work that way. Now that he's been censured for inappropriate contact and the need to keep her rage in check and the addition of Lyons, things are starting to fall apart for her.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Despite an argument by Casey Anthony's defense team, a motion was denied by Judge Stan Strickland, so the death penalty will still be sought against the 23-year-old.

Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's attorney, has argued that the death penalty in this case is unconstitutional.

Baez also previously filed a motion asking the judge to force the prosecution to reveal why it believes the death penalty should be on the table.

He argued that the prosecution cannot establish why or how Caylee died and wants to know what evidence the state that justifies the death penalty.

"While the Court found much of defense counsel's argument regarding death penalty law and procedures to be compelling, her argument as to the state's bad faith and impermissible motives cannot withstand scrutiny. While the quantum of evidence sufficient to seek the death penalty will virtually always be an issue, that matter is best left to the jury. The prosecution's brief recitation of facts supporting its decision to seek the death penalty in this matter was also compelling, and therefore sufficient," the order stated.

Casey Anthony is in the Orange County Jail charged with murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. Caylee's remains were found in a wooded area off Suburban Drive near the Anthony family home in December 2008 by a meter reader. Anthony maintains that a nanny by the name of Zenaida Gonzalez kidnapped Caylee.

Casey Anthony's attorneys had argued that prosecutors were using the death penalty to seat a "conviction-prone" jury on the case.

In his ruling, Judge Stan Strickland said the issue of whether to sentence Casey Anthony to death, should she be found guilty, is one best left for a jury to decide.

“While the quantum of evidence sufficient to seek the death penalty will virtually always be an issue, that matter is generally best left for the jury,” Judge Strickland wrote in his ruling.

Earlier this week, Judge Strickland denied other motions filed by the defense, including requests to dismiss charges of check fraud against Casey, as well as a request to stop videotaping Casey in jail.

Slain Fla. girl’s mom may still face death penalty

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Florida judge has denied a request to take the death penalty off the table for a mother charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter.

Circuit Judge Stan Strickland ruled Friday that prosecutors can ask a jury to consider the death penalty during Casey Anthony’s trial next year.

Anthony’s attorneys had argued that prosecutors were seeking the death penalty in bad faith.
