Got a funny for the monkeys!

I have kidded Red a couple of times because I was posting one day when Mrs. Red mentioned she'd like to have a gift of pearls from Red for Christmas. My friend was in my office at one of those occasions and I asked if he knew how to spell "Mikimoto". His reply was ,"What's a Mikimoto? I explained that they were the first to produce cultured pearls and that they sold only the highest quality pearls.

We exchanged gifts tonight....................
Uh-huh, you're ahead of me, right? He gave me a Mikimoto pearl ring!  :lol:

I can't wait to see what Mrs. Red has picked out for me next year!!!  :lol:

Dinner was really good Klaas.  Glad it's over though.

Tylergal Merry Christmas to you as well and your family!! Do not feel too bad, because I ordered a shirt with the tree too I placed my order with cafe press on Dec.10th. Their holiday order schedule said if you order by midnight on Dec. 11th (standard mail not expedited) that you would have it by December 22nd. Well, as I said I ordered right after midnite on the 9th, early am of the 10th...and yesterday the 23rd....no shirt. I was disappointed because I wanted to wear it today to a family gathering for the holidays because they ALL hear me about my scared monkeys! I am over it now though., oh well.

Now, let me say this, too.  Klaas, I was scared of Santa tonight too.  He came to our son's house to see the boys but I was afraid he had really come to seek out a grandmother.  I did not like that.

I faxed my "naughty" and "nice" list last night to the North Pole.  I must have been in one of my better moods because I had a really long "nice" list and not a single monkey made it to my "naughty" list. So I guess that means he's coming to see everyone tonight.

One year Santa came to our house and my younger sister was so afraid she was screaming and hiding behind my aunt.  When he pulled her favorite doll out of his bag she wanted she started screaming get that from him :lol: .

I've managed to really mess up with Photoshop. Somehow, I can now create animation ( Thanks to Klass ), but I've done something with the color, so that I can play it in the program, but when I save it "optimized", everything is blue and black! Take a look!   :lol:  :lol:

CBB - I've had that problem sometimes too and I don't remember what caused it.

I'm not sure it was a ring she wanted. She just mentioned she'd left hints for Red to shop at Mikimoto's! Could have been a strand of pearls, etc....

The calender is a neat idea. If you ever do a funny one you will have to put some of your graphics of the suspects in this case on it, oh my I am laughing at the thought of that one!

I've played with the color settings trying to fix it to the point I'm not sure I haven't caused everything to be that way!  :shock:

CBB - it will be interresting to see if Red caught the hints.  He doesn't seem like a "hint" kind of guy to me.  Seems like someone you should come right out and say what you want kind of guy.  :lol:  :lol:

You are a lucky person to have someone give you a Mikimoto pearl, CBB.  My DH gave me one black pearl a few years back on a 14K gold chain and my #2 son and his wife gave me the earrings to match. I love it.  It is really pretty with a low cut something or other.  I need a face lift.

CBB - I think it has something to do with the original picture, how it's saved..but I'm not positive.  When I encountered that problem I tried everything in image ready and never could fix it.

I'll drink to that!

I was hoping to drop a hint for some occasion.  I am so mad at my DH.  You are not going to believe what he gave me for Christmas!  A bunch of Sharper Image air filters, a whole house full of them.  I did not want that.  I wanted a face lift or a trip, or at least something bright and shiny that is very hard and you can never have too many and they are your best friend.

Well, I've made up my mind, if I can pull it off. My ex is preparing for bankruptcy and if I end up being held accountable for his debts, I'm going to have extensive cosmetic surgery. There's something called a "feather lift" that is 72 hr. recuperation time and an alternative to a face lift, and a tummy tuck and anything else I can think of. Let's see them make me give THAT back!  :lol:  ( just kidding......I think)

That's my kind of thinking.  I should have asked that old Santa tonight to buy me a diamond. :lol:  :lol:  I should have made it clear that I did not want darned air filters for a gift. :roll:  :roll:  :roll:

The kids thought it was hilarious.  They asked me how long he had been wanting them and used this occasion to buy them for himself?  He then said he got them for me since I have asthma. :roll:  :roll:

My sister got an iRobot Scooba Floor Washer from her son  :lol: .  Later on when he left she looked at me and said can you believe what he got me  :lol: .

I remembered you had said that, and I'm going to retry making sure I do that, when I get a chance. I listen to you Klaas! You've been a tremendous help!

I was afraid of Santa when I was little too.  My mom has not ONE photo of Santa and I together cause I refused to sit on his lap. My brother on the other hand was fine getting his photo taken.
  Last year and just tonight my dad dressed up as Santa for my baby 2 yr old nephew... LMAO  Lasy year AND tonight. my mom said... Ang.. let me get your pic with Santa.. sit on his lap. I said hell no.. she said  but its your dad... Nope still wouldnt do it. Now I feel kinda bad cause I may regret it one day.

CBB, I know what you mean about the "thoughtful gene."  I guess I kind of like my DH the way he is, but if I ever marry again, I think I want a rich homosexual man who has made his money from cooking, gardening and decorating, maybe even think of me as his mom on whom he wants to spend lots of money lavishing me with gifts.

Tonight at dinner I got stock next to my younger sister and my aunt.  For the first time we went out for Christmas Eve with my aunt and her family.  We haven’t talked for quite a few years but since my father passed over the summer we started talking again.  So now I’m stuck between my Aunt and my sister with my nephew across from me.  I think they are both hypochondriacs.  They both started talking about what bothers them and their symptoms.  My nephew looked and me and started laughing because he knew it was coming.  I turned and said hey look you two better stop it because both of you are killing me. :lol:

I hope you had a nice dinner in spite of it all.  I hope you did not get a floor scrubber.  Please tell me you did not. :lol:  :lol:

I won a diamond ring set on ebay for #25.00. People sell all kinda things cheap to get money for Christmas, so I figured I'd buy this set of rings for $25.00, the picture isn't real clear BUT the set is beautiful it has a center diamond of .15 pts with two smaller on each side and a band with 5 small diamonds! for $25.00 I would say I got one heck of a deal they came and are beautiful, worth $250.00 at least!!! As a goose! Although he's bucking for "celebate" status for both of us, I think! Seriuosly, about 4 years now. We spend a lot of time together, and I've worried about him choosing to do that. We can only ever be less than "totally committed" just by the nature of it, and I'm aware of that. We love each other, but he needs to just adopt me with someone he can have a different sort of relationship with! I'm not in the market, so I don't give anything up!!  :roll:

We got back from church about 30 minutes ago, and I couldn't believe monkeys were still around talking. How great is that?  :D

The church service was sooooo beautiful. We are "high church" Episcopalians, so we always have loads of candles, bells, etc. Tonight, though, we had poinsettias and Christmas wreaths, and in addition to the choir we had trumpets and violins. Ahhhhh.....now I feel like I've celebrated Christmas.  :D  :D

I have it on right now, it is even better in person, I am just wearing the diamond. You really can get some steals on ebay, you just have to be careful, and beleive me I feel like I stole it at that price. She started the bidding low, hopeing to get a good final price she told me. I guess with Christmas people were buying other things so I made out good! I do feel bad though. I always worry about the other person, that is just how I am.

I just watched the number of them grow as they came up the hill. Total of 18 or 19; I wasn't sure, I may have counted one twice!

O/T - I just read where James Brown died this AM.  How sad.  He did so much for the children of Augusta, GA, his birth place.  I met him several times when I was 21.  He used to stay at the hotel where I worked in downtown Atlanta.  He caught my show (tap dance) a few times and personally invited me to be on Soul Train.  I was honored to be invited but never took him up on it.  RIP our Godfather of Soul.

It sounds as though many monkeys are having wonderful Christmases and some miracles sprinkled in regards the health of their loved ones.

I have seen 2 or 3 wild turkeys together, on occasion, over the 20 years I've lived here. It's probably been 5 years since I've seen any at all, and that was when I was driving on the road behind the house. This is a residential neighborhood, but it's at the base of a Mountain Ridge that is a designated park and wildlife reserve. Here's a link with a couple of pictures at the park. There are no structures on the mountain; just trees. I'm used to seeing red and gray fox, racoon, and the deer herds are almost a nuisance, but the turkeys seem to be more wary of people.
I need a good camera!!! I had plenty of time to take pictures, and the entire back wall of the den adjacent to the kitchen is windows. I'm going to have to do something about that!
I looked on the web, and this is exactly what they looked like. These were listed in my area. It's hard to tell how big they are from the pic, but they're BIG! Apparently it was a good size flock; the average size flock is around a dozen.

Well, it sounds just great!  I may look more into lappies as I have always thought they just wouldn't do as much as a regular computer but by now it seems they do.  

And best of all, they are portable which is the whole point.  #2 son has abandoned his regular computer and is totally lappy now so they must work really well as he is very fussy about things like that.

Now if you took it to work, they would not be able to see what you and typed and to whom, etc... . . . . but not trying to give you any ideas about goofing off, lol!

So glad all the monkeys had such nice Christmases.  Mine was just wonderful with my family, most of them, and so happy to still have my mother in good health, etc. at almost 90.  

But I must admit I am really exhausted and fondly considering a nap.
BT, we are having some of the most dreary weather of the year now.  Good thing you have your lappie to keep you company as it is too dreary and chilly to go out today, at least for me.

It IS dreary outside, and tomorrow is supposed to be really, really cold. Simon and I have been waiting for a cold day so we can finally build a real fire in the fireplace, so I'm looking forward to the cold weather.

Well, Captain Kirk will just have to learn to share!  Does it cost him any money to use his connection?  I sort of doubt it but then could he see any part of your connection, like that a computer connected to a certain other computer or site on any kind of record of his connections?

BT, my lappy finds the wireless connection too, plus there are keyfobs now with wireless locators, daughter has one. Anna mine is a Toshiba Oosmio and I do love it too.

Laptops have come a very long way in the last few years, many are equal in data capability to a desktop as well.

My daughter gave me something I thought I'd share, a book she found about mothers and daughters. She said she bought it for once she read this quote she had to buy it for me.

"Nowhere is it written that a mother and her daughter must be friends......which makes it even better when they are."

I feel sure that Natalee would have found that quote so meaningful as well and what a crying shame she isn't here to share that with Beth.  :cry:

Kinda depends on whose doing what, if you  start surfing a bunch of porno sites it will be his IP address recorded as accessing them.

If he is into heave connection useage such as downloading movies and such and you are connected at the same time you will be using up some of his bandwidth and slowing him down a bit.

All internet connections are paid for by someone, so you are using his connection for free at the moment.

Well, you don't have to use the WiFi, it's just included as part of most laptops
now a days, they still have an RJ45 port on the back so you still connect to a regular ethernet/lan connection to the net just like a desktop.

Course you can setup your own WiFi at home by connecting a WiFi receiver to you internet connection just for convenience around the home.

I got two apple pies given me for Christmas, pointed out to me that they were made with none sugar sweetener because of my diabetes. Not real sure I'm gonna like that.

Yes, Angie, I got to have my mother another Christmas which at her age is something!  She is still a very beautiful woman and looks no where near her age but did have to have pacemaker replaced a couple of weeks ago.  

But as for gifts, nothing special and two kids are still students so always broke and from them I get only hugs and a card but am thankful they are both well and staying in school even when it is difficult for them.

I got four 90 phone cards for cell phone, coffees and expresso maker, money (as I am always running short---cha-ching!) gift certificate for dog supplies, and small items like gloves, socks and pretty silk scarf.  But nothing big or important this year.  

I think I am at the phase in life where I am trying to reduce possessions instead of add to them.  After first of the year first son will have larger house and I hope to encourage him to take some of the things and especially his own as I seem to be some sort of storage facility for all three of them.   :wink:

ORANJESTAD – An investigation report on the efficiency of the Police Corps of Aruba (KPA) regarding integrity, states that the control on work procedure is poorly; promotional transfers take place, while there is a disciplinary investigation going; and there is no correct follow up after irregularities within the corps are signaled.  

Forensic Services Caribbean in Curaçao did the investigation by order of Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP).  Amigoe learned this from documents that the paper received for perusal.   The report was already given to the then chief of police Ronny Bernadina on April 3rd of this year.  The investigation took place in 2005 and based on the findings, Forensic Services Caribbean advices to draw up a master plan to deal with the integrity risks.  Based on conversations with some key-officials within the KPA and external partners of the corps, like the Security Service, the Public Prosecutor, and the Coastguard, they have mapped nine risks.  They have also analyzed summaries of integrity rules violations within the corps.   They first noticed that many rules regarding work procedures and work processes are established, but that these are not univocal and not conveniently arranged.  The procedures differ per (police-, editor) district and are implemented or interpreted differently.”  Besides, several regulations are not complete.  Not everybody is familiar with the procedures, they are difficult of access, and several of the versions used are outdated.  Several procedures are too complex and have therefore lost their powers.  “They have become dead letters”, states the report.  

There is lack of control on the observance of the procedures in all sectors of the organization.  This has to do with not having qualitatively good employees on managerial positions.  Another reason is that there is lack of open culture, in which employees dare to talk to each other.  In order to restrict this risk, the bureau advices to further specify the career policy and to organize trainings that would provoke a culture change within the police corps.  

A third risk that can cause the integrity of the corps to come into play is the lack of confidence when it comes to exchange information.  Confidential information is leaked to third parties and nobody knows what to do with the information or that the information can be used against you.   “This lack of confidence has consequences for the internal- and external communication”, states the report.  It also forms a hindrance for working effectively and efficiently.  Their advice is again a culture chance in order to create confidence.

The weather is cold, rainy, and dreary here, so we haven't left the house. We haven't even gotten out of our pajamas all day and have just had our dinner. It's the latest we've ever had Christmas dinner. I think we are going to do it like this from now on, as it was far less stressful and rushed. Well, we had a nice day and had blupper with the children.  It was nice to see them all but the baby had an earache and was banging on the piano, one got a trumpet and the other a drum set.  I am sure the baby's earache was worse than mine, but I have been through all that with their fathers, and now it is time for payback.  I left early.  LOL.  The parents can't leave..... their wives asked me how did I do it through the years?  Gee.  They each have one each and I had three beaters-and-blowers at once.

Police discovered cocaine balls factory in Seroe Blanco

    ARUBA – The police discovered a cocaine balls factory by accident. This happened during an incursion in an apartment in Seroe Blanco. The police arrested several people and confiscated professional equipment and four kilo cocaine. Apparently, the two escaped prisoners were hiding in this apartment.

    The fugitives were not in the apartment when the police dropped in. While the search is continuing, Justice-minister Rudy Croes (MEP), KIA-governor Freddy Maduro and manager Ronny Paskel of Cuerpo Especial Aruba had a meeting last Tuesday to discuss the escape. After the meeting, Croes indicated that heads will roll when it becomes clear who is responsible for the escape. Adi Thijsen, party chairman of the MEP and lawyer praised the KIA-personnel. He indicated that probably, absence through illness (60 percent) and lack of personnel played a big part in the escape. It is not easy for the KIA-personnel. Mentally, they have to be strong and they are under a lot of pressure due to the absence through illness. Logically, things go wrong sometimes. He says that the government has to take measures to avoid such escapes. The government has a personnel freeze and this is not good for the KIA. More people should be hired here in order to protect the community. The KIA-personnel should work less overtime and rest more. This way they can enjoy their work which will be to the advantage of the society.

Anna, My DH makes a chocolate pecan pie since I am a chocoholic. He melts 2 squares of Bakers unsweetened chocolate in a double boiler and then adds it to the standard pecan pie recipe. Yummmmmmy!

Rain but no snow, IBE. It will come, far more than we Hoosiers will want. Mom is greatly improved. Sat up with legs over edge of bed (with help), mask off all day, coughing well, and able to have some small amounts of liquids and jello. That's my Christmas gift, and it's the best one I've ever had.   Monkeys have been wonderfully supportive! I told her that even a bunch of monkeys were pulling for her! Told her they were online buddies.

When I took the new lappy to mom and dad's today and was talking on SM while there, my parents finally realized I have an internet addiction. Hubby knew, but parents had no idea.  :P

Hey Tylergal, I think the sharper image air filters are a great gift for your allergies. I asked for and received another Oreck air purifier. That really is what I wanted. Of course I am at the time of life that I do not need or want much. I told dear DIL " If I can't eat it or wear it or use it up in someway I do not want it. Please do not give me anything I have to dust. I have way to much of that already.

One is not required to dust a diamond bracelet either, and if you guys recall, I gave my DILs my two diamond and sapphire bracelets and another one the sapphire and diamond ring so my wrists and fingers need some more sparkle that does not require dusting.  I was hoping to cash in after being so generous, but an air filter?????  I will have to do what Elaine did, look out for myself and shop on E-Bay.

There are so few foods that I can say I dislike. I love the healthy foods, the unhealthy foods. Almost everything. Last year while on the radiation and chemo(ended Dec. 21, 2005) and clear until April this year there were very few foods I could eat without gagging and or vomiting.. I was hungry too. Could eat all cheeses, fruits and of course chocolate and Ensure. Ensure was like a lifesaver to me. Was I glad when food started tasting right again.

Okay, now I'm confused about botters and blupper, but Pirates is on ABC as I type this.   :?

Glad to hear your mom's doing better, Justins.  I hope we hear from Mrs. Red soon.  Peaches goes in Wednesday - we need to start praying for an easier time for her as well as effectiveness of the treatment.  If we send good feelings, healing feelings while praying for same, I bet it will help.  Yep.  I'm pretty sure.

I read once that there are two main types of taste buds. One kind makes brussels sprouts, grapefruit, broccoli, etc. taste bitter. I must have that kind, because all those things have a horribly bitter taste to me. I would like to be able to eat them, but I don't see it ever happening!

Same here, only I wouldn't have any desire to eat them anyway.

Watched my mother spend most of her life eating cottage cheese and grapefruits and just never could understand how she could do it.

You can also get good deals on jewelry on Ebay if you misspell the names of the stones, etc. when you do a search. For instance, people looking for a ruby will generally spell it that way. If someone made a typo in their listing and spelled it rubby, then no one finds it when they search so the price stays low.  :D

I'm going to blow the margins It's the dog and cat picture. Tried to get it smaller, but then you can't see them, Oh, well, please forgive. I'm tired. OK, here goes; been working on this for hours.

I have an adopted=by=love family and one real cousin back in Indiana...plus some neat neighbors in a mobile home part where I live. When I used to work 18 hrs a day, I didn't get to know my neighbors well, plus I wasn't rich and the same religion as them... that made a difference too. Well I don't have the home anymore.
   Here we have retired Hughs and govt. engineers, teachers, active nurses, aritists, gardeners, ( have 2 current tomato plants with tomatoes) homebound, chronic ill but out, unemployed, some really striving families as the place is divided into low income (less that 34000) lower income, moderate and then regualer. If your site qualified under the low/lower it has to be sold that way when you sell...kind of hard to find someone with cash, good credit and "low/lower income" (Older mobile homes can't be refinanced... a good op. for someone who wants to find a new business and help each other)

As a homeowers Assoc. we own our own land which is different from most moble home parks. The city is putting in 4M$ grant and us 1M$ (from wise CD investment interest for years) for underground utilities.. I don't trust the city and think in about 7 yrs well be ripe for them to call us "blighted" (nothing in this city is blighted) but they use that excuse and use ED and take over.

Then all you Monkeys can tell me where to move where I'd least be warm. I want to see out the windows, see birds, grass, flowers, clouds, trees and not freeze my buns off too much, but at my age I would be staying inside, I guess.

OK... HERE THEY ARE... my family. The children are children of my former caregiver for mom and me. He became a son to mom and brother to me.. he cusses to me in Spanish; (he speaks excellent English) I cuss to him in English. Mine is worse than his.  We need to learn Southern cussin'. Then we'd be tri-lingual?

He's been in the US for over 20 yrs., pays taxes, social security, his own med. bills, et al, goes to chruch and has his own moving business. I told him it should be "Mario and Daughters" but a week and 1/2  ago Mario, Jr. was born. I have no pictures of him as I have had a cold and won't go near. (c=section, boy,  8 1/2 lbs 22 inches) don't know, is that data normal?

The girl in the Picture at the LA Zoo (Christian pre=school field trip) is now 6; makes me two years older too. Our noses looked alike then... mine getting wider from age, her's now getting narrower from age in the last 2 yrs. She is now 3/4 as tall as I am and I'm 5'7. Her English is extremely good; incl. grammar. Her Kindgergarten was teaching what I taught in the 2 nd. grade years ago and this is in one of the poorer schlool districts south of LA.

I was just thinking of Peaches and came here to ask if anyone had heard from her.  I knew she was going in sometime soon but not sure when.  Thank you, Li'l Puma for this information.  I will certainly remember her.  She is such a blessing to this forum.  Such a great person.

L'il Puma, blupper is one big meal (breakfast, lunch and supper) which is about all we eat on Christmas Day, because starting with fruits, nut breads, cakes, etc, for brekkie, we eat most of the day.  We just named it "blupper" for short.

Yeah, except one can get over cancer, chemo and radiation.

JQK doesn't have the 100 John Does, Cat.  The Kalpoes attorneys put that on their lawsuit, to add names as they deem appropriate.

My daughter's daycare teacher, Miss Rita, has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I let her know that my mother and her mother both were breast cancer survivors. When I gave her her Christmas gift, my mother put a little ornament on the gift that said "Faith." She got the ornament from St. Judes. Miss Rita was really touched and actually had tears running down her face when I told her that my mother put that ornament on there for her and where it came from....Monkeys, I've put her on several prayer lists, and now I'm putting her on the monkey prayer list. Please pray for Miss Rita!!

I have to stay away from eBay as I spent too much money once. They do have a site where you can put in what you want and their computer, sellers check your wish for you and email you with a hit.

I can't remeber if it is I Want It or something like that!  I bought come great antique jewelry to wear with I have to go to American Legion Auxiliary meetings and dances (don't dance there, for the men all have wifes... with a few drinks I will do the stroll or jitterbuy with another volunteer but not close dancing)

 I grew up in Indiana and my grade school looked just like that one. So did my blackboard and writing when I first started teaching school there. Thank you for the compliment... the tree shade and shadows helped, but I felt very young that day! and very tired at the end. The orangatang (sp) had had her baby and I was able to get some cute shots. All the 2 yr. wanted to do was to push her stroller, so she received a baby-doll one for her birthday.

Maybe when the kids have a break, the infant is older and it's not during tourist season we can go beck to the zoo again; they were having big construction so we missed some of the animals. My favorite West Coast zoo is San Diego but we don't have a car big enough.

Hey Carnut I need some advise here. I am back on my old puter after DH put in a new power supply. Whiel we were at sons at Thanksgiving I played a real pinball machine for the first time. Loved it. Back in my day the boys I dated spent all there change on pinball, the girls spent theres on the juke box.

After we were home I discovered DH had a pinball machine on his computer. He has Windows XP. Ok now I am back on mine with Windows 98 and he got me a CD pinball game for my puter for Christmas. When I went to install it it asked if I wanted to register it. So I said yes and It showed up with my whole registration filled in. My name and address. Does this mean it is loaded with spyware?

Then to top it off I can't use it because it says I need a TnL compatable video card.

Well, no, your registration info is contained in a special windows file/folder called the registry, your info probably was put in there when the W98 was first used or installed. Windows wants that info to try and keep folks from pirating there precious OS's. When other programs come along for a user to install them, they look in the registry for that info and then show it to you and ask you to verify it is correct, so your program will be registered to the same person who supposedly owns the OS. Guess that might be considered a convience.

It's nothing nefarious, it's just the way things work. Course most software sellers then take that info and sometimes use it inappropriatedly, but you agree to that when you agree to register the software. Usually the worst you get out of it is regular emails from the software vendors touting other wonderful things they sell that you can't live without or even regular mail thing newsletters, etc.

The dog and can are rescues. The dog was on the TV news as up for adoption and how he visited nursing home. I called and they told me there were over 100 call and he'd been adopted.

About 6 mos. later, on Easter, I think, I went to the local place. On his cage it says, "dislikes cats". I asked what kind of dog it was (had one blue eye and a brown eye) Aust.  Shepard mix... -at a certain time of the moon, the eye turns brown--anyway I thought how could he not like cats for Aust. Shepard herd and there are cats on a farm.

I asked to see him; I was seated when he arrived and he took hold of my wrist with both paws and held on very tight. So that was it!

He is great, smart and likes to travel. The cat is named after a cookie and the dog after an emotion. They get along fine and "kiss" each other ie: lick each other where the other can't reach... like under the chin and on top of the head.

So glad you like these and that I got up enough confidence to share them.

Freecell is more than enough for me actually. I just got a wild hair and went looking for the blackjack back when the History Channel was showing a series of shows about Las Vegas.

I essentially play nothing but freecell anymore, not much imagination on my part.

Any day is a good one when you learn something, and when I went looking for "turkey pics", I learned that they stay in same sex flocks until breeding season ( March, April ) when the males seperate to find their own female flocks.
The flock I saw this morning was a female flock, I think. They are very similar, except for brownish tips on the wings instead of black.

The Christmas' of our youth set a really high standard that we used to take for granted. Those Christmas's aren't a given anymore, and the comparison is almost inherant, unintentional, for sure, but it can make difficultiy turn into crisis. It's very real, sb. It's real pain.

Sb, you are More than welcome! I don't know your sorrow or how deep it is, but I do remember that your Folks were in an accident not to long ago. I hope they are ok! My Mother was thrown across a moving bus in November. She ended up with a broken hip, which she IS healing pretty well from now. I have been running back and forth to try and help out when I can. Yesterday, she still wanted her children there. She is frail and walking w/a walker. Not quite the woman we all saw just last Christmas, so strong and independent. She lost her temper yesterday a few times snapping at us all for little things! She apologized at the end of the nite and said she felt stupid. I told her to "knock it off" with the apologies and that she is allowed to express her greif. Somehow, I guess i feel lucky that she is not worse off I guess. Some Monkeys have lost their Parents (My Dad is long gone) and some have parents in the hospital. It is NOT easy, but I am glad for everyone here as it does seem to help, the way we care about each other here! I just hope that whatever has your heart heavy, somehow knowing we are here with our ears and hearts open for one another, helps each one of you here as it does me.

All I can really say is... it is far easier to deal with other people's physical problems, than it is to deal with (and put up with) their emotional problems.

My family has deep, difficult, complicated emotional problems that are just compounded by their physical fallout from the recent accident. I really strive to rise above all that, but it's almost impossible to escape. I would almost rather be alone, EVEN AT CHRISTMAS, than have to deal with emotional cripples who baby one another and take out their frustrations on everyone else. And who manipulate and seek to control others for their own selfish, self-centered reasons.

I rarely if ever discuss my "real" disappointments in life and when I do, I try to be sober about it.  I lost my mother near Christmastime a few years back and I still miss her and something happened to me this Christmas that really brought all that loss of her back to me like a roller coaster rushing downhill that would not stop.  It was a monetary loss.  It was a lot of money but what I really lost was trust in another human being.  I trusted someone with real property that both my mother and brother, (and especially my husband) asked me not to do.  This person, I felt, needed a chance, another chance in life.  Given the new-found sobriety and clean lifestyle, I entrusted a relative with my mother's property.  I even shared that he (having helped me care for my mother in her waning years) was going to do what was right.  My DH kept telling me I needed to take a closer look at things.  I gave him half my land and real property in Virginia.  He took out a second mortgage on it.  It is going to be in foreclosure if I do not bail him out and my DH is telling me not to, that the land is not that important, that I made the decision and to let it go.  It's a lot of money for me.  It was property my mother trusted me to take care of.  I thought she would appreciate that I did, what she had taught me, to trust people, to be good to people, to give someone another chance, to turn the other cheek.  Now, I have misplaced my trust and either will lose a lot of money retaking this as I can with my brother who is an attorney or I can let it go and just call it the end of a chapter.  I do not know what my mother would want me to do.  My husband wants me to call it a good experience and let it go.  That's hard, but he thinks I am throwing money in on top of money and even with my brother stepping in to save it for me, it is still buying back at a higher price than I should have to pay but it was a family member and I thought he would want to keep it in the family.  I am really upset that this happened, but see we all have our thorns in our sides.  My BIL who lives in that area is a banker and I have a brother who is an attorney and I am sure we could work this out, but if I pay it off and bail him out, I have theoretically bought back my own land which I would like to have but DH says it is too high a price and to just let it go.  My brother feels that I am too emotionally attached to the land and my hurt is more pride than anything else.

Have you all helped this family member before?  Bailed him out of trouble, given money or whatever?  Maybe he *thinks/knows* you'll come to the rescue again....even if this time it's to buy back your own land?

I guess the question is.....is it the land itself, or your promise to your Mother that is causing the indecision as to what to do.....hope this makes sense.

Yes, TCUM, you are right on all counts.  I have bailed him out many times because he was always nice to my mother.  Perhaps he was a better con artist than I knew but he did help her immensely and I felt like I could give him the land and it would give him something to have some pride in, something to care for and he had quit drinking a few years ago and was working regularly, but yes, I have bailed him out before and my DH tells me not this time, although he knows it will be up to me if I do.  I just wish I were not sentimentally attached to the land, where I rode horses, helped my grandmother garden.  My husband keeps telling me if you give someone a gift, you cut the ribbons to it and that means you let it go, because it is a gift and after you give it up, you have no voice and no choice in it, but it hurts.

Tyler looks like it comes down to how much you want to  punish the errant relative or how bad you want the land back.

From what the two of you just poured your hearts out about , I found a common thread. Two different situations, but a commonality in both situations. Hurt feelings due to others selfishness. And I have been there several times myself , it is no fun. We extend ourselves to those we care about in life and just hope that they would be as courteous to our emotional needs. (tyler I know you said it is also money in your case) But I also hear "between the lines" it isn't even so much the money, this person broke your heart. Someone has hurt Sb the same way, but in a different situation. And,having been there myself I know how painful it is when people do not treat us the way we would treat them, especially when it is people we care so much about. It hurts a lot!!..... Somehow, we always come out better people in the long run though we may not know it right away. This is why I love all the people here so much. This forum really does have the good hearted people who care   more about others even than themselves, that is why we care about Natalee too and what drew us to this forum. We care, we all care, and in the long run.... that is all that matters. I hope things get better, because you all deserve that!

Seems to me you think you trusted it to his care and didn't really think you were giving it to him.

Well, I did "really gift him" in a way sotaspeak.  I deeded him half the land but there is a house on it (small house that was where my grandparents moved to after they were older and could not care for themselves and he lived there near my mother and helped care for her, while living in the house.  I deeded him that land (verbal agreement) under the conditions that he would live there, fix the house up as he had planned to do and take care of some horses that my brother and I owned at one time but have subsequently sold.  He did that for about 4-5 years and it was not that big a deal.  He actually enjoyed the horses but we felt it was too much to ask of him so we sold the horses and he had planted gardens (vegetables and flowers) and was really caring for it and then he got a loan to do more work on the house.  Did not repay the loan.  How could he not do that when he had no rent, no bills except a car payment.  Sheesh.  I need to go let it go.  I did not mean to vent.  I apologize.

I'm going to sell the house this year................the house that was paid for in full and given to me in a divorce that my ex said was to protect our assets. He gave me everything. And I trusted...............

THEN I began to discover. Discover his porn addiction, his escort in Florida, his SECOND mortgage on the house he had given me, my $350,000 indebtness on joint accounts. I fell into a dark hole and emerged unwilling to let it stand, as he fell closer and closer to bankruptcy. He moved back in in exchange for paying the bills and I started my own company with the money my Mom left me. It's a scary feeling of risking stewardship of all that she intended for me.  We had worked together in his company and I tried to sustain both and have worked 16-18 hours a day, struggling to make it all work, while vacilating from hurt to homicidal tendancies toward him..................and came home to have his presence there too! I got off all the accounts I could, and tried to take comfort in the fact that at least the mortgage was being paid down,......
2 weeks ago, I pulled up my credit report. He had topped the credit line on the house AGAIN! The bank refuses to acknowledge my request made at the time to CLOSE the line, and no, I didn't follow up the conversation in writing.
He's going down, and I'm terrified of what the future holds. I do know who holds the future, and I'm hanging on!

My brother was an alcoholic, sb. I honestly believe my only living relative has a personality disorder. I know dysfunctional and it's an incredible emotional drain on those of us who don't particip[ate in the emotional dysfunction. We just hurt and try to clean up the wreckage.
I learned to seperate my interaction with them, and started interacting with what God would have me do in their presence. Honest. I've prayed so many times to take control of my heart, my mouth, my eyes, my hands and help me fulfill His purpose in relation to them. It removed them from the equation and allowed some of the emotional damage I risked, to be removed.

Oh, Tyler ~ I truly understand everything you've said.  I ramble, and I will try not to, tonight (that's why I rarely post).
The only thing I can liken this to is when my Mom sold her home of 45 years in Dallas, a few years ago, to come and live closer to us.  You can imagine the memories and sentimental feelings of 4 children growing up there....well, as I figured would happen, the new owners (with 4 children, too!) came in and of course, wanted to update, tear out, open up......you get the picture......Mom was absolutey devastated....nothing she could do......but we told her......our memories of those days are with us always and forever....we won't lose them.  And, what memories they are!

Maybe you can look at the land as a wonderful memory that you'll have for always.....

Nowhere near it.  He borrowed $186,000 and did about $25,000 in repairs to the house.  :cry:

Ok, round here that woulda been on paper as a 'contract for deed' so to speak, when the contract stipulations were met he would receive the deed.

If you were liable for any of the loan on the property I'd probably lean to trying to pay off the loan and kickout the ner do well and be happy with the bought back property even at inflated price.

If you have no liablity, then like DH says, let it go and remember the good times.

I really have no liability.  I guess I am just kicking myself and recalling how many times I have been so gullible, even when I knew he was past due back in the fall, and he told me he was getting a bonus at work and would catch it up among other lies about the reasons he had not paid it.

Tyler, I've spent a long time beating myself up for stupidity. We will learn from these experiences, but we were NOT wrong, or stupid. We were just functioning on a higher level than those we were dealing with. Our ethics were higher, our morals were better.

And, now we know that when an ethical person deals with an unethical one, the unethical one always has an advantage!

CBB, your dilemma is much worse than mine.  Darling, I am so sorry about all that your ex put you through.  You have a broken financial situation and a broken heart.  That is even worse.  

I so hope everything for you will turn out wonderfully and I will pray for you and Sb, my monkey friends.  Now it's another year coming up and I am not going to look back.  This is the first time I have ever, ever mentioned this to anyone except family members and even my kids have not been told.

That is why he does not care about paying it back, saddly. All that money was used for something, HE enjoyed, and sadly he didn't care enough about any repercussions, such as that when the loan defaulted the house would be lost. And that people {such as yourself ) would be hurt. Something has him on the wrong path and it isn't a good one ( I am speaking from experience here ) I have an addict/alcoholic in my family, been there and done that, do NOT want this person to die or end up homeless etc. Yes, I have lost things that cannot be replaced and the thing that bothers me the most, now that I have gotten over the financial losses...is why? Why couldn;t I help this person change? A female none the less. You have a decision to make, I pray that you will come to the best decision!!

Tyler and CBB ~ I wish I were as well-spoken as you both ~ with that said, you BOTH have such good, kind hearts that you were willing to help out ex-husband (CBB) and relative (Tyler) where many others would not have been so trusting and willing to give another chance.  You can look in the mirror and know that you did all you could, and went the extra mile to help....hopefully, others will learn from the example you've set......having faith and trust in others.

Oh, we are all going to land feet first soon.  Everything will be in the past and 2007 is going to bring us great opportunities and we will help Beth see her way through this and hopefully get a conviction of those responsible for torturing and murdering Natalee.  I am sure Beth has probably lost so much financially and she probably never looks at the financial end as she has lost so much more and to think what she has lost is all the fault of three ugly, trashy PIMPS.

We went to junior high and high school with his daughters.......he was just a fine man......unassuming, gentlemanly, always there for his kids, and never sought the bright lights.  Miss those days~Bob Lilly, Roger Staubach, Lee Roy Jordan .....makes me sad that our son will never see pro sports the way we did.

Maybe that's why I ended up here.  I won't go into lifelong stories, but dysfunctional family stuff is all too familiar.  Dr. Phil tells parents that they are their kids "soft place to fall".  I've never had that.  When I fell (got pushed real real hard) I found out why I never even leaned before.   :cry:  Anyhow, I can relate to family problems and not having that support system, or having a "support system" that makes things worse.  In spite of some great fun and friends I had on another board, I've met some very loving and caring people on two boards talkng about Natalee Holloway.   God bless her and her family.  They turned their tragedy into something that has made a difference in many lives and more good things will come of this.  In America, Aruba and hopefully many other places.

Tyler, if the bank takes the house, could you buy it back?  They often sell foreclosures for less than market, don't they?  I don't know much about it, but if he loses the place, you might be able to get it back without having to pay his debts.  Do you have a lawyer and/or real estate friend that you can talk to and ask?

Carnut get a pre-nup! But that's one of the reason I cocoon. I can hurt my self with dumb things I have done or do now, without any help! But it is lonely too.


Tylergal I was crying when reading about your mom's home. I went through something similar and in hindsight some was my fault and some was not.

I didn''t bail out when I should have and it affected my health and morale in a big way; added loosing another home here... just now starting to recover.

Someone will love the home as your mom and your family did.

My dear monkey friends~ I am so glad that we have this forum. Natalee's spirit is alive here.

SB, Tyler, CBB and everyone who is troubled~ We are friends, and the support we receive from one another is invaluable. It has certainly been a blessing for me over the past week. I think that I may have lost my mind if I had not had you all.

Ok, here's my little confession. So far my best Christmas Present was to be around to celebrate another Christmas.

Guess I'm just lucky, I have never been crossed or letdown by any family member, ex, inlaw or friend that I'm aware of. I have been blessed with wonderful family, though may are now gone, inlaws and lifelong friendships. I have also been blessed with way more friends than I have any right to deserve.

Did notice on the Drama Queen thread in the Lounge that Justin's posted a 'values' profile analysis quiz and that I tested quite high in 'Loyalty'.
Was a little surprised at that result but probably shouldn't have been because throughout my life that probably is the one thing I value most in giving and receiving. Heck, I've even kept the same cars most of my life because of my 'loyalty' to them.

I had clicked on the link to photobucket earlier and just right clicked and copied ~ I didn't have a choice to click COPY SHORTCUT.  :?

When I right click and get the drop down list (I finally figured that out), the only words that aren't grey are delete and select all.  This is embarrassing, and I hope people sleep late so I don't keeping hogging the posting area  :oops:  :oops:

Are you right clicking on the shortcut or the actual photo of the avatar?

You should get a copy or copy shortcut on just the link.  That is the one you want to click.

Try moving your cursor off the link and re-right clicking and see if the menu won't offer you that.

Li'l Puma, my grandaddy told me about the ten-fold as a child and he showed me how it worked.  One day as we were walking to his grocery store, a little country store, we encountered a very old woman and a child walking.  The child was leading the lady who was obviously blind, having hardly any pupils at all.  They were hungry and told us they were.  My grandaddy gave them $25.00.  That was a lot of money to give a stranger back in the early 1950s.  I thought they probably could eat for a couple dollars, two hamburgers each  milkshakes back then, with change to spare.  

He was telling me how it would come back to him ten-fold.  I think the Lord wanted me to see that as a small child.  While walking, he saw something very shiny, a knife.  It was very nice: a jeweled handle and  made of what I now believe to be silver or platinum, something one might see in the Middle East.  He picked it up and took it to his store, posted a sign about a knife he had found and wanted to know if anyone had lost it.  No one was able to identify it and claim it for more than a year.  He sold it for $250.  He told me that was his ten-fold.  Whomever owned it obviously did not live in our area.  It was like manna.[/img]

O/T - My dog Angelina loves company and she was very excited that my friend and her hubby came over for dinner because that meant more attention for her.  After dinner my friend’s hubby started to talk to Angelina and he asked her to go get her toy.  She knows what you mean when you ask her that and she searches around for it.  Last night she decided to take a short cut and she ran over to the Christmas tree and she took the goofy ornament off and gave it to him. :lol:   I think Angelina had been eyeing that ornament since the day before. :wink:

I think Angelina is a smart baby.  She made friends with your friend and was giving him the best ornament off the tree.  She was repaying him for his kindness.  Aren't they just like kids, except with fur.  And the best part is they don't pack up and run off to college, get married and never come back to live at home again after spending all your money on an education.

Justinmama, it will be Christmas whenever the gift arrives, no matter when it is.

Totally OT, but little news so I thought I would share this with any pet owners who allow their pets outside.  As all of you know, I have big flower beds with roses and always like groundcover with them.  A couple years or so ago, I purchased Nepeta catmint, which has little blue flowers that look great with roses.  My cats absolutely adore it.  They just roll around and chew, and roll around and love just lying in it, fall asleep, wake up and chew on it, and then roll around and go back to sleep.  It is so cute. If you have a cat that gets to go outside even under supervision, plant some of this.  The cats love it.

I do have a real question of curiousity,how far are the painted rocks from the vds place?CBB,thank you for the pictures of the turkeys.You can redemn your house,often for 1 year,after a foreclosure.Cat

I think that watermarkie thingie is there for the very reason you stated, "stealing..."  It prevents it.  LOLOLOL.  I do that to photographs that I use at lectures I do, in case once they have been shown around the room, one does not come back to me. :wink:

If you expect equal pay for equal work, you're not the only species to have a sense of fair play. Blame evolution.

Researchers studying brown capuchin monkeys (Cebus apella) have found that the highly social, cooperative species native to South America show a sense of fairness, the first time such behavior has been documented in a species other than humans.

The question of whether human aversion to unfair treatment—now shown by other primates—is an evolved behavior or the result of the cultural influence of large social institutions like religion, governments, and schools, in the case of humans, has intrigued scientists in recent years.

The new finding suggests evolution may have something to do with it. It also highlights questions about the economic and evolutionary nature of cooperation and its relationship to a species' sense of fairness, while adding yet another chapter to our understanding of primates.

"It looks like this behavior is evolved … it is not simply a cultural construct. There's some good evolutionary reason why we don't like being treated unfairly," said Sarah Brosnan, lead author of the study to be published in tomorrow's issue of the science journal Nature.

Brosnan, a biology Ph. D. candidate schooled in zoology and psychology at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center and Living Links Center at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, said her research was inspired, in part, by studies into human cooperation conducted by Swiss economist Ernst Fehr, who found that people inherently reject unfairness.

That is certainly the strangest execution of a search warrant I have
ever heard of in my life!  I cannot imagine a judge changing his
warrant at the scene!

Strange thing was we were told it was because the younger brothers would have been asleep inside the house but not in the main portion, only in the smaller sleeping quarters.

So why was it so important to Paulus that the house not be searched, so much so he had his judge buddy on the actual premises to prevent it.  Must have really had something to hide!

For sure, Anna, as we both know, this is a cover-up much bigger than the Vandersnots.  It has to be big for them to assure that Joe M. goes to prison for IRS violations.  Tacopino and his rug rats are pulling an FBI type fraud on US citizens regards the tax situation.  This is nothing more than Joe Tacopino having his goons investigate Joe and see what they can find on him.  I suspect if there was an investigation where it should be we would see old Joe T being locked in solitary.

Anna, all I can figure is there is such a huge trafficking business in Aruba that involves jewels, gold, drugs and humans that it had to be covered up and it probably involves some of our TV personalities that we see screaming that we do not understand their system and Joran is innocent.  I am beginning to think we need a shadow government to investigate Aruba and Tacopino.
