Thirdstrike - Greta had the footage tonight of Joran getting served in NY.  Makes some of us think that the NY Judge is getting close to making her decision, or that something is up. Why would she show that now??

Yeah, I saw that.  She interviewed that funny looking "Sopranos" dude who served him, right?  ;)  Maybe they decided to speak on it today because she may be getting viewer pressure (via emails and such) to pay more attention on it...considering it's been dormant on her show for a while now...

Klaasend - I agree, perhaps Greta has heard rumblings about an upcoming decision.

CBB-To answer your earlier question....I'm currently in Los Angeles, Cali.  It was over 100 degrees this past weekend...with nightime temperatures hovering around 90 degrees.  Now, I don't know about you, but there should be only one GOOD reason to sweat at night.  And, that doesn't include weather...ya know??  ;)

Back last March she said something about the cost of keeping it going.

Humidity?  Well, I often play basketball during my lunch hour (outdoor), and today my shirt was soaked from running about twice up and down the court.  It was overcast, and EXTREMELY humid to say the least.  It was awful!!!  :(

Well, I just sent her an email asking her to reconsider.  If it's a cost issue, I understand.  But, in reading her "reasoning" posts on the site itself, it didn't sound that way.  She seems disenchanted to me...

Well, I have a game tomorrow actually (if that's what you were asking).  Our basketball team isn't doing to well for the first half of the season, but our softball team moved up to "B" division recently.   Sounds funny...bragging on an old man sport like softball, but...;)

Congrats on the softball team..I didn't know you played Basketball, just softball.  And in my book, and no sport is an old mans sport (other than bowling  :wink: )

  Arn't  Racoons  amazeing ?  I ad one for a sort time and was always facinated at how they can watch and figure out how to use latces  knobs  and even human made tools  to get just about anything tay want  so smart and cute  and if you raise them from babies they can and are so loveing .
  I raised and shown St Bernards  and mine  would watch and when I feed them then when se would get out she would go climb up te Kennel panel and lift the latch and let them out in te yard  they  just loved her  and would never Bark until she had let them out and then all hell would break loose  but se was always safe on the roof of the kennel .
  Really  i think they were telling her Thank you rather then trying to get her  and to her it was all one big game .

Good morning!  What happened on Greta last night?

Oh - My hubby was furious!  He heard something in the middle of the night and found the mess. Here I am at 3:00 a.m. holding the flashlight picking up food it drug out.  I'm out in the pitch dark and my husband is running around like a wild man with a broom - hissing and scatting the raccoon.  :shock:  It was really funny but I couldn't laugh.  :lol:

I would almost be back asleep and my hubby would jump up again and hiss at the raccoon.  It was hiding under the camper the whole time. :shock:  :lol:

I guess nothing really happened on Greta and that's why you are talking about raccoons.

My dad had a raccoon for a pet when he was a kid in Nebraska.  I can't imagine why.  Better a raccoon than a possum.

Greta had Bo Ditel on and showed a tape of Joran being served in NY.  Old Bo came across bad, imo.

She had Bo Dietl on and showed the entire footage of Bo serving the Sporter in the airport.  The ABC producer pushed Bo.  From what I could tell, Bo was doing all the talking and the Sporter was just glaring at him.  At least until the producer threw a coat over his head.  Like that was a big disguise.  How many 6'5" goons are parading thru the airport on any given day?

On my way to work I passed a young boy of about eight years dancing alone on the sidewalk to some inner music as he waited for the school bus. On other days I have seen this boy having an imaginary sword fight or practicing karate kicks as he waits for the bus. His imaginary life must be very rich. I hope he's able to retain that spark as he grows up.  I guess Aruba has decided that no news is better than lies, so all is quiet.  I hope Natalee's family are sitting on some breaking news and thats why its quiet.  I would of thought that we would of heard something about the civil case by now but I'm not putting that much faith into that either.. I believe the Sloots would just allowed it to go into default after stalling as long as they can.  I think it would be a good time for Beth to write her story using her journal and I do believe that Aruba is scared of that..

Was that the point of Greta showing the tape?  To make the server look bad and the judge feel sorry for Joran?

I agree that Bo should have been able to effect service a bit more quietly but I like Bo.  He was making a lotta noise trying to get the goon to make a mistake and say something.  He said on Greta that he has two daughters.  I'm sure the gravity of the situation just got the better of him.

I wish more people would of treated Joran like Bo did..  How would you talk to a person that you believed raped and killed a beautiful, trusting girl?  Bo did nothing wrong and it might be the last time anyone gets a chance to tell Joran how we feel in person..

But of course, M'am.  Old Joran made her feel like a young debutante on a brisk walk through Audubon Park, whose eyes were peeled at her every move and every word, just sucking him in like a cherry coke on Saturday afternoon.  Her aim is to please and she vainfully cheered on her native Dutch in the world cup until the final moments when the Refugees screamed "slaughter the referees."  It was at the point when Heli and Adriana cried "foul," that Greta swooped in to save Joran's soul from torture and despair from his many losses,  by outing the downright crudeness and insanity of Bo the Dietl whose tall soft body had tugged at the lawyer hostess like tight strings on a fiddle.

I'm sure with his background in law enforcement, he has a pretty good feel for who's a scumbag and who's not.  Cops can just tell.

O/T - Just spoke to my friend that I worked with and asked her when is she taking vacation and was she going anywhere (last year she got stuck in the Katrina nightmare).  She told me her husband asked her if she wanted to go to Aruba and she got in a panick and said no way they are covering a murder and the island is corrupt.  She also said that she could never go there because she knew I would be mad at her.  I told her tourism is down and they are throwing airfares at people to go there.

Been reading around.  This was posted on scrux yesterday.  Thought it was good.

I think it's significant that the HI lie was made up before they encountered the Twittys......in the first place it proves the lie was not made up due to being afraid AFTER Jug supposedly got angry in front of the VDS house.

In turn, this lie that Jug scared him, shows a willingness to 1. blame someone else, and 2. play the baby card while blaming someone else.

Where 2 is concerned, you don't see Joran being scared at any time thereafter. He was not scared in jail; he was cocky. He was not scared when abruptly confronted by that CA reporter; he was extremely calm. He was not scared of Greta nor of that ABC Primetime dude; he was a calm and a bit martryish. He was not scared ever at all except for his CLAIM to have been scared of Jug that one night that he claims made him tell the HI lie.....however, as we know too, according to his interview on Greta that story was made up before they arrived to face Jug.

What this suggests to me is that 2KJ or parts thereof, knew they did not leave her at the HI and didn't want to say where they really left her, which of course is what Joran says later on when he comes out with the beach story....he didn't want his parents to think he left a girl on the beach alone. So in fact, the HI story was made up out of fear of Joran's parents not out of fear of Jug, hence Joran is taking responsibility for the HI lie AND making it out of fear of his parents. Yet he goes on to blame fear of Jug?

Now my thoughts trickle down to this still ongoing blaming of Natalee's family for being angry and causing the lie. The truth probably is that all Joran wanted was a diversion from his own behavior that night....and I hardly think simply leaving a well girl on the beach would elicit such fear from a cocky cad like Joran comes across as. His 'I'm sorry I wasn't a good boy mommy and daddy' line is a joke! And it is my opinion that it screams Joran has his parents snowed big time.

But why say she was dropped at the HI if they knew she was not. They had to know the cameras were everywhere. They had to know all the cops had to do was check them and discover this lie right away. Yet, the cops did not check the tapes right away to see Natalee being returned to the HI so they could start looking eslewhere for her.....no, they arrested 2 men as if the story were true without checking it out first. ALE jumped in on the HI story like nobodies business! They did not do their jobs. And I have to wonder if it was not just J2K but also the cops who planned this HI lie diversion ahead of time.

That producer should have known better than stepping in front of Bo and trying to stop him.  If I remember correctly Bo said this is official business.

Buckeye, in response to the ideas about the HI dropoff lie, I believe that Joran and Deepak made up the HI dropoff because that was the modus operandi all the 20 times before that nothing happened.  Their game was to drug a girl at C&C's, and get her into a car before she passed out cold.  They then gang raped at will, as she was unconscious for several hours.  As dawn approached and the girl started to regain consciousness, they dropped her off near her hotel.  She wandered back to her room, went home that day, and that was that.  It had worked in the past, and so they created the lie based on past behavior.

Joran and Deepak most likely didn't think the cameras would be a problem.  First, the police on Aruba move slowly, if at all, and these kids treat them as if they are keystone cops.  Second, GVC's Dad's security company installed and serviced the cameras.  Third, they could likely find someone to doctor or erase or simply lose the camera tape.  Joran and Deepak didn't plan ahead that far because they knew they had multiple options and dealt with issues as they arose.  Besides, they were practiced at fudging their stories and changing them.  It would not be a problem to say oops, I meant we dropped her here, out of camera range, not there in the line of the camera.   These guys didn't really plan this out in detail at the beginning because they didn't expect it to explode on them.  They had done this many times before and really didn't think one more girl would be a problem, even if she didn't show up.  Blame it on someone else--a beach bum, another tourist, anybody else.

Yeah, but I believe the main reason for the lie was to throw the dogs off the scent...so to speak. They needed to divert attention as far away from the reality of the circumstances as possible.  So, like you said, they used their past history to their advantage.  And, it would have been 100% effective had the invetsigation stayed "in house".  Unfortunately for them, the eyes of the world begand to watch... :roll:

I don't think they were that smart.  I don't think they really thought anything through...especially the fact that they'd get "busted" for lying when no footage existed proving their "story".  Again, I truly believe these guys counted on the investigation remaining internal, and they'd have nothing to worry about...

Absolutely agree.  Even though "something went wrong," they acted as if it had all gone exactly as it had in the past.  Ironic that their past behavior that they fell back upon was so unacceptable as to be labeled criminal by the Americans.  I mean, since when is drugging and gang raping considered normal behavior for teenaged boys?

I agree.  It just makes me crazy when they say how scared the 17 yr. old Joran was so he lied.  The lie was preordained and I've never seen Joran "scared".

AZ, I agree.  But I don't think this gang of PIMPLES was smart enough to figure this ploy all by themselves.  They either had someone directing them in order to have them make porno videos, or they learned this method from someone older who has gotten away with it for years.  The poor girls & women who were the victims before Natalee.  While they were lucky enough to escape with their lives, they have to feel personally violated, degraded & probably angry & ashamed at themselves for getting in such a situation.  I hope they have worked through all that and now place the blame on the perps, instead of themselves.

Thirdstrike, I agree.  I think these goons just reacted and did what they usually do--lie and dissemble when called on the carpet for being bad boys.  They didn't connive or plan or orchestrate Natalee's death.  It happened in the course of the "boys will be boys" drugging and gang raping that occurs all the time on Aruba.  I think Joran actually believes that if she hadn't fought him, she would have been fine, just like the others he gang raped and dropped near their hotels.  Thus, he blames Natalee for "making" him kill her when she resisted their rape and violence against her.  This is just deviant thinking to the max, but we've seen it demonstrated in everything this kid does.

Yeah, but I don't believe they included the "drugging and raping" part in their "rebound story" as part of their past history...ya know?  Not sure it'd do much to help their case...if you know what I mean.  ;)

But, what's interesting here is that in almost every lie, there are elements of truth in order to help give it more credibility...you know?  That's why I pay particular attention to things like when they say Natalee "fell down" (which, IMO, would help explain any head trauma if they found her body)...or, the fact that she wanted to "see sharks" by the lighthouse(which again, IMO, help explain the fact that she was in that area of her own accord had they found her body there).  Things are often admitted between the lines of a lie.  It's proven human psychology...

Just a quick drive by. I had thought about adding to the story Easy and some others have been writing but Tylergal has got it to a point it will take more skill than I have to go further. Maybe Easy or Mrs Red can or even Anna. Maybe even someone who I never mentioned. It really lets me know how talented so many of our Monkeys are.

Even Terry270 when he wrote about the child dancing (on this forum a few pages back) sounded like he might be able to add to the story.

I've just had a thought that perhaps this is why so many people on that island can defend Joran and look you straight in the eye when doing it.  When violence and rape and degradation are seen over and over, and it becomes commonplace, then people become jaded and accept it as a part of their life.  It no longer carries the horror and disgust that these actions cause in normal people in normal societies.  Perhaps this is why these young girls defend Joran and why the older people in that society are not up in arms and trying to stop this behavior.  They've seen it, over and over again, and it's become, if not acceptable, at least not criminal to them.  It strikes me that their attitude is more like why the big deal over this when the Americans are outraged and demand answers.  Years of this behavior, maybe even generations of it, have jaded them.

And, since porn was on when they passed LaCabana....maybe porn was on at the house when she was there (and drugged).  He was on line at 3am (porn on). He (they) left her alone for a minute, she came to, got a call off...they walked back in...and silenced her...no drop off at the tourist hotel, for this one.

I only saw the last few words spoken to Bo and wondered what they had talked about. Reading on different boards this am......now I know. I do not understand the purpose of it. There has to be a reason this was shown at this particular time and I read and think of different reasons in my own mind, but I can't pull it all together. There is a reason this is being repeated on-air. Surely it can't be out of pure desperation for a story to fill in time on Greta's show. What the hell is going on? I read the emails to Greta today on her Gretawire.....she really is taking some crap in ways and yet, somehow I can't help but think that is exactly what she expected. I don't even know what the HAY I AM saying anymore, lol.....I am sooooooooooo confused, lol. :?

Of course, they knew enough to leave out the drugging and raping part of the story to the Americans.  But they did admit parts of it to their own people.  For example, Joran told his mother about Natalee's underwear and what he did to her.  This shows acceptance in their own society, but an awareness that he needed to be quiet about these things around the Americans because they didn't accept this behavior.

I have a theory as to why they're airing it all of a sudden. MONEY. As unfortunate as it sounds, Joran makes the networks $$. Just my $.02 worth anywho...  :wink:  :lol:

Yeah, but I think porn watching for an 17 year old kid is pretty normal.  Not that it should be morally accepted.  But, I don't think it's necessarily a "red flag" here...

Remember, rape is more about power then sex.  If these boys did, in fact, rape Natalee, it was much more about forcing her to succumb then the actual act of succumbing...you know.  IMO, I wouldn't attribute it to porn watching at all...

Maybe Taco agreed to an exclusive when the verdict is in, if Greta aired the tape.

I agree, too.  Plus, the reality is that it has been 5 weeks since the court hearing.  The judge is due with a decision sooner now, rather than later.  Common sense says if we run this video again now, we have good odds of appearing to predict the decision being announced.  It's playing the odds and the odds say the decision will be here soon, very soon now.

Not due to the porn....just not giving him a time alibi because he was on line....he could have been on line with her at the house.

That's ALL it was about...ratings!!  There's a reason this case has been so much in the media spotlight.  It's popular (as bad as that sounds).  People want to see what happens next.  And, Greta has benefitted as much as ANYONE from this popularity.  Why should we expect anything different now?  :roll:

If you will recall, Beth did not go to bed but went back to the HI and got the tapes and looked at them.  ALE had no choice but to look at them because she was saying that Natalee was never dropped off and the tape proved it.  Meanwhile Paulus is dropping Joran off at school and lying to the headmaster that the reason the tape does not show Joran dropping Natalee off is that the tape was broken.

So why did they go ahead and arrest the security guards when they, ALE and Cowgirl KJ, already knew that the HI story was a big, fat lie???  Anything to cast attention away from the Sloots??  Trying to frame the guards even if innocent??  That arrest was very telling and one of the first indications that things were going very off-track in this investigation.  Red flag if ever there was one!  JMO.

Have been doing some spot reading back.  When Klaas posted the picture that I think Widget asked for of the guy in 2002 signing in at the casino, one thing I noticed was that he had no watch on his left arm.  It struck me, that people who do wear watches usualy start when they are teens and it is a habit they never change, just like putting on their socks and shoes  in a certain order.  I would lean towards that is not Paulus.

Jacqui, the funniest restaurant story I have is one from the last time we were in Atlanta and stopped on the outside of town so as to circumvent all the traffic.  My husband asked for tea.  We assume all tea is unsweetened except in certain mom-n-pop restaurants.  Waitress brought it and it was sweet from sugar.  He apologized and told her he should have asked for unsweet tea.  She looked at me and said, "Don't you want sweet tea?"  I replied, "No, I want a cup of coffee and a glass of water."  She said, "Well, what's wrong, y'all diabetic or sumthin'?"

Oh my--you should see this lunch the boyfriend made me!!  He's a graphic artist and it looks too pretty to eat!   :lol:  (But I will...)

Turkey folded in overlapping pieces on 7 grain bread, cut on the diagonal, of course.  Some sort of white cheese on it and chopped up lettuce on top of the cheese with mayo on the lettuce.  Then, on half of the plate rim, are strawberries cut in half, cut side down, with powdered sugar sprinkled on each one.  Let's see, there are 6 strawberry halves!  And in the middle of the plate is a little pile of bugles!  I didn't have the heart to tell him I've eaten so many bugles this morning I can't eat one more!  I should take a picture of this and show you all.  It's so nice!  I feel loved (or at least appreciated!)   :wink:

Years ago my Father-in-law was a recovering alcoholic and managed an AA group.  He was a substance abuse counselor for the veterans administration.  He asked me to convert a bunch of reel to reel tapes of meetings to cassette for him so he could use them as inspirational stories.

The one I can't forget is  Hello my name is John, and I'm an alcoholic.  I never thought I had a problem, I just thought I drank socially.  My mother in law moved in with my wife and I and they would both be waiting up for me when I came home from the bar  (tore up).  One night I came home and they were both waiting for me in the living room.  An intense argument ensued.  I could hardly get a word in with both of them citing my shortcomings.  So I finally screamed "Oh, I get it------ I'm the problem.  Well I can fix that.
     With a great show of bravado I staggered into the kitchen, turned the gas on in the oven, got on my knees and stuck my head in.  They both immediately started grabbing at me, then I realized they were HOLDING ME IN :shock:
I've been in AA ever since.

Thanks, Ang.  I know he'll get a good job soon.  He wants to work and is in that in-between stage of interviews and it's driving him nuts.  He's just 23, so young, out of college only 6 months.  He told me today he applied for some graphic artist job at Staples office supply where they do some sort of graphics for walk-in customers, just to tide him over until he nails a real job.  He has lots of apps in and had several interviews but nothing has materialized yet.

Tyler, I second that.  The BRAT diet is the trick. The dr recommended it for my mom when she had intestinal problems.  She's 79 and has told me for 6 months that she has diarrhea every morning.  I asked if she had cramping or other symptoms.  No, nothing else, she feels fine.  Knowing her propensity for exaggeration, I didn't worry about it.  She finally talked herself into believing she had some exotic parasite from Mexico (we go there often) or something.  She went to the dr and they told her to fast for 24 hours, eat BRAT diet for 24 hours and then normal diet for 24 hours.  She took samples in to dr, complained to me loudly and often about how hungry she was the first day, and it was all so icky!!!  Tests all came back negative and she is perfectly fine.  I couldn't resist saying, "I told you so."  She's one who eats a whole cantalope in a day because it tastes so good, and then she's too full to eat anything else and wonders why she has a touch of green apple, two-step!  Geesh.  Anyway, the BRAT diet is the trick-fixes you right up.

I don't think so.  A friend of mine works at the main office of Atl. Bread Co.  We also have Panera Bread.  Menus are pretty similar.  Kinda like upscale deli sandwiches.  Not many delis here.

Doncha love those animals!   :lol:   Kitty was just hungry!  We had a tiny poodle who ripped open a gift under the Christmas tree one year of Hershey's kisses in a coffee cup.  She ate several of them and was a rather sick little poodle for a day or so.  Now any gifts of food cannot go under the tree with other gifts!

Our homegrown fast food joint, other than the Nationals like Pizza Hut, Taco Tico, and White Kastle's is a place that started out as 'Craigs Coney Island' and morphed into 'Spangles' several years ago.

Our big local Drive-in's were T&C's aka 'Town and Country' super popular 'in the day', defunct now and Kings-X also gone.

Now it's just  'Sonic', which I have one in my front yard and an occasional A&W.

i miss the days before everything was the same everywhere...

We finally got a Sonic two miles away.  No A & W.  I remember hopping in the stationwagon and going to A & W for root beers.  Miss that.

Dunno, I have a couple suspicions of the body disposal method he apparently claims.

Could've been as simple as swimming out to sea past a reef with a body and letting it go, possibly with the idea that at worst the body would wash back looking like drowned while swimming or at best float away and be devoured by sharks.

Nope - Panera bread is in the midwest too!  Awesome.  I've seen it in Iowa and Nebraska - even some smaller towns.

these ones arent any clearer than the video google ones.

The footprints start right at the edge of the road where that plastic bag is, and walk away from the road directly to where I circled the footprints.  It is very clearly footprints in the original, the guy doing the video even zoomed in on them and followed the trail with his camera.

Why would someone have been walking through that water/mud?  Whoever was walking through there would absolutely lose their shoes if they had any on - in the original video you can tell the footprints are real deep in the mud.

Mother reports son was acting strange, aggresive at times and quit going to school. mother worried he may have met with foul play.  has not been sighted since. Polis no help as they are only following up extreme emegrgent cases. mother asks anyone woth info on whereabout s for help. Very worried mother per article.
