Lala's - what is happening isn't an address problem but picking errors. The guy in the warehouse is picking the wrong name. For instance, if you get Sue's mug, you packing slip will probably say Lala's Personalized Mug.

for the Atlanta monkeys... did y'all hear the story of the sheriff in Cobb County that was killed by two drunken illegal immigrants that ran a red light and t-boned the sheriff's vehicle??

His older brother was one of my closest friends and I knew him... Loren Lilly... I knew Loren too... his older brother and I were very close friends so I knew him... it's so sad... and my heart breaks......

Mishy and my mugs got crossed up, she got mine and I got hers. We both just emailed Cafe Press and they said they'd mail out new ones and told us to just keep the ones we have.  Over and above the call of duty to fix the mistake.
I just got my replacement from Cafe Press today.  They will make it right, just let them know.

A drunk illegal alien plowed into the back of my son's car while he was stopped at a redlight in Arlington, VA when he was a senior at Geo'town.  It took Arlington's Finest over an hour to cut him out of his car with Jaws of Life and Airlife him to National Hospital Trauma Center.

It crushed his pelvis and he has a metal hip socket on one side permanently.  Broke both legs and he was like a frog with his knees by his ears bleeding internally while the rescue workers stood literally in gasoline pouring out of his full tank.

Arlington Fire and Rescue saved his life and they are my heroes until this day.  Occasionally I send them a card and update them on him like when he got married for if not for them, he wouldn't be here.

Drunk illegal alien with no insurance and pregnant wife at home of course.  He got sentenced to six months buy my bot went to court in a wheel chair pale and frimacing in pain and asked the judge for leniency for the man who hit him or it was going to be much more time in jail.  Not sure I would have been a big enough person to do that after watching him screaming in pain, etc.   Sometimes I hate it when kids actually take what we teach them to heart and act on it like that.   :? I prolly would have asked the judge to hang him, lol.  

Son said no use messing up the man's entire life over one stupid mistake and to her credit the wife of the man did call almost daily to see how my son was doing.  She was nice and I felt sorry for her stuck with that jerk.

Son bled out five units into his abdomen while they tried to get him out of his car.  And I woke up in the middle of the night and statred calling his apartment for no real reason, finally got his roommate.  One of those times I just knew something was very wrong.

My son's auto accident was about five years ago.  He is fine and the one who was married last year.  Does set off metal detectors in airports, however.   :D

I stayed with him for the better part of three months until he could walk with two canes.  His roomies helped push him around and copied all his stuff for classes.  He walked across the stage at graduation with two canes and the entire faculty stood and applauded him.  I glowed for days!

But he did graduate on time.  His Profs were great but had to live with him in sophomore girls dorm as that was the only one they had at the time with wheelchair access, etc.  That was a trip, believe me.  Things could get pretty wild but the girls were really kind and helpful.  

Didn't expect to find myself again living in dorm on campus at my age, lol!  Good thing I am not a light sleeper, too.

I remember you sharing that story with some of us really late night monkeys last year when my daughter was having roommate trouble.  I had forgotten until now.  As I felt then, you are incredible for having managed to get him through that.  I bet you were a proud, proud mommy.  You earned and he did too.

We should find out more about the guy who disappeared in Saba.  I tried searching online but didn't find anything.  I'll try again later. It might help his family and show a pattern of a "Tourism, not Tourists" mentality among the Dutch islands.

Personally, I think Guido probably is gay.  That does not mean that he couldn't be involved with raping or hurting Natalee.  Rape is about control, not sex.  Guido may have even gotten jealous that someone was with Joran?  Who knows?

Federal authorities are monitoring and assisting in the search for Trenton resident Joel D. Gove, who disappeared on the tiny Dutch Caribbean island of Saba recently.

U.S. Rep. Chris Smith, R-Hamilton, has been helping Gove's family since Jan. 2, he said yesterday, and this week he talked to U.S. State Department officials and urged them to get someone to the small island soon to represent the family.

Also, the Trenton office of the FBI said it is "officially monitoring" Gove's vanishing, but will not take any active role until more information or a request comes from Saba police authorities or evidence of foul play is raised.

Gove's disappearance is listed as a missing persons case in Saba, part of the Netherlands Antilles, Saba police have said.

The 47-year-old Gove lives in Trenton's Glen Afton neighborhood and runs an environmental consulting firm on West State Street in downtown Trenton.

He flew to Saba on Christmas and planned to stay until Dec. 30. He was last seen on the morning of Dec. 28 hiking a trail on the 5-square-mile island of about 1,400 people. He was walking in the direction of an abandoned sulfur mine that is popular with tourists, but no evidence exists that he went into the mine, Saba police and his former wife and co-workers say.

Saba's top police official said searches for Gove have taken place at several places on the island, including the mine, and from air and by boat around the rocky island, which has no beaches.

Amy Gonzales of Ewing, Gove's ex-wife, returned Monday from a week of searching for Gove with two co-workers from his business, as well as his brother Brad Gove, who is still in Saba. Gonzales said she had nothing new to report yesterday.

Congressman Smith said he wants the State department to have a consulate official travel to Saba to meet with Brad Gove.

"Frankly, there's more that needs to be done," Smith said.

The car is a 1940 Ford Standard Tudor Sedan, that was a very low mileage original that was has been modified over the years.

I have had this car since 1977, I bought it with my share of my mother's life insurance money. Kinda makes it have a little sentimental value to me.

Clear a sore throat and cough with honey. Those "honey and eucalyptus" cough lozenges really do work. Honey stops the cough and soothes the throat, while eucalyptus cools and cuts mucous. Do it yourself by putting a quarter cup of honey into a jar, then adding a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar. Take a teaspoon of this every two to three hours for your sore throat and coughing. Laryngitis can often be soothed and cleared up completely, using the same concoction.

Think I'll just go to bed and suffer. For the escapades in my life, I think I deserve a bit of suffering.

I know we've all probably heard this, and am not sure if it applies to pneumonia - but among the common items that harbor and spread germs:

Door handles, knobs
Elevator buttons
Stair, escalator rails
ATM buttons

Basically anything that lots of people touch.

And IMO, just standing in a hospital is a risk for pneumonia. Don't know why that is, but I believe it.

Yes, there really is.  I do not think I have ever heard of so much community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia in young people.  Hospitals are breeding grounds for pneuonia.  There are several types going on that you do not want to get, because they are difficult if not entirely unable to cure/treat.  Some of them are very resistant to the antibiotics we now have.

Hubby came down with that crud that is going around on the 1st of January and is still feeling poorly, son had to check out of school on Tuesday and has been home sick in bed all week, myself I have been fighting a dry scratchy sore throat all week and this morning my head feels like it may explode. I detest having a sore throat.
Our high school has a very high absentee rate this week and many teachers are ill.I agree with Anna about needing the cold weather to kill the germs and this is coming from the girl who shivers when it is below 60  :wink:  :roll:

See that we have revisited the illegal immigrant issue again. I have no clue as to an appropriate remedy. January 10th 2007, Aruba.

ORANJESTAD-Aruba will not host Soul Beach Music Festival this year. The
festival is traditionally held in the third weekend of May together with
Memorial Day weekend. Organizers are seeking another Caribbean
destination for this year's festival.

The government has not granted subsidy to have the festival organized
on the island. In previous festivals held in Aruba, the organization
received subsidy of close to $1 million from the government. The subsidy
is now allocated to the organization of Caribbean Marketplace, a large
travel fair for tourism and business agents all across the World, to be held
on the island next week.

The Soul Beach Music Festival was hosted 6 times on the island of Aruba.
The intention of the festival was to entertain tourists during Memorial Day
Weekend. In addition the festival attracted many tourists in a traditionally
slow month for tourism.

This year's edition will be held from May 23rd-28th of 2007. The
organizers will soon announce the destination that will host this year's
festival. The Ministry of Tourism is counting on hosting the popular festival
in Aruba next year.

I got a pneumonia shot a couple years ago when flu shots were unavailable.  I've had pneumonia 3 times in the past and now bad colds tend to want to settle in my chest.  Since getting the flu shot I haven't even had a bad cold.

Dr. Mehmet Oz said it on Oprah on Monday.  Colds and flu are caused by germs not changes in the weather, going outside with wet hair, etc.  I knew that.

Klaas...my experience is the same....flu shot = no bad winter illness....
but that is for me.

I did notice that my grocery store has put antibacterial wipes next to the grocery carts and recommends wiping the handle of the cart...and I see more bathrooms have "push" doors so that you do not have to touch a handle that many people who have used the bathroom also touch... :?

How do competent police forces handle murder cases: they get the bad guys off the streets FIRST.  In how many cases have we seen the exact same procedures followed?  Tons.

It seems Saba is east of Bonaire and Curacao.  I posted yesterday, I think on the last thread, that there are apparently going to be some changes in the NA islands come July, the NA will cease to exist.  Cuaracao and Bonaire will be separate countries, like Aruba, and Saba and Sint Eustatius will become Dutch municipalities.  Since Aruba's legal system is dependent on the Dutch and NA legal systems, I don't know what changes will be in store.

This is about a Candelario Wever who had been caught with a few hundred thousands dollars and a few kilo’s of cocaine, but how many Candelario Wever’s are there on Aruba and who was this Candelario Wever who supposedly works as an adviser or assistant at a certain government department?

After intense investigation, foreign documents arrived on which reads a serious case of bribery in which this Candelario Wever of Aruba was involved.

Like the readers can read today on these foreign documents, it is apparent on October 15th 2006 in Venezuela, two police officers caught three people, Macho, Hector and a Candelario Wever whom were in possesion of 3 and a half kilo’s of cocaine.

According to these documents, the Candelario Wever of Dutch nationality, identified himself with documents, as Assistant Adviser of the Minister of Health in Aruba (in this document it says ‘’Araba'’ but this must be ‘’Aruba'’).

The two other persons would’ve remained in custody while the Candelario Wever would have managed to free himself with 250,000 Dollars!!!

A criminal investigation is reportedly being done against the two police officers in Venezuela for accusations of bribery, violation of rules of the deparment of justice and also they are reportedly under investigation for extortion.

This is a very serious case and the moment has come when light must be shed on who this certain Candelario Wever is who has identified himself in Venezuela as Assistant Adviser of the Minister of Health of Aruba, when he was caught together with the other two persons with three and a half kilo’s of cocaine and 250,000 dollars.

In Aruba everybody knows a Candelario Wever, whom is Booshi Wever, but as minister and not as any kind of assistand to the Ministry of Health and that’s also why this deal must be clarified, whether there are people misusing names of government employees or officials of Aruba and so putting both the government of Aruba as the minister in charge of the ministry of health in a negative light.

Because the case took place in a country outside the kingdom of the netherlands where a dutch citizen was detained related to three and a half kilo’s of cocaine and also 250,000 US dollars, the department of external relations of The Netherlands will have to do an investigation to figure out whom this Dutchman carrying the name Candelario Wever is and how he could’ve gotten his liberty with 250,000 dollars and where this money could’ve come from.

It is not known whether authorities in Venezuela alerted Dutch Authorities about this case or if they are going to seek the arrest of this Candelario Wever, who presented himself as a government official of Aruba, via Interpol.

I know it is caused by mostly viruses but do believe getting too chilled or too hot in some cases stresses the immune system and makes it more vulnerable to the viruses.

Also have asthma and have had since childhood in various degrees.  The cold definitely is a trigger for that as is extreme heat, too much exercise and other things.  It sort of sets things up to catch something with the irritation of bronchial passages.

Having a large number of dogs, I am required to use disinfectants en mass which I do.  Have to be strong enough to kill parvo which survives down to forty below zero so they are potent.

I guess I would be dead if I didn't carry on the fight against germs all the time but also realize there is truth in what Carnut says that the only way we build resistance is to expose ourselves to things.  So try for happy medium.  Not so happy today as I have the headache thing, slight fever and cough from h3ll.  

I haven't been clear for a pneumonia shot in a long time now but think if I ever do get there I will see about getting one.  The times in my life I have had best Resistance were always when I was working in drs office exposed to everything and kept active Resistance to it all.  Now I catch anything going around it seems.  And with minimal exposure .

Go figure. . . just want this gone once and for all as I do have things I need to do and just don't feel well enough to tackle them before another bout comes along.  This is the third for me and I just want it to go away.

I wonder if it helps if you have carpeting rather than wood or tile floors.  I'm in favor of those little steps that allow the small or older pets to access the big beds, often occupied by humans in the late night hours.  But that's just me.  Many people don't like their pets on the bed and pets need someplace to lay during the day when they want to be near their humans.  An old pillow (or two) with a flannel pillowcase would be good for those who don't want to spend money on those pet beds.  Cats pretty much lay wherever they want and seem to always find the warmest and softest place.

Well that should improve now that you have a new vacuum cleaner.   :D My cat likes to lay on a pillow on the furniture.  She will begrudgingly let me sit or lay on the furniture with her, but she gets most of the pillow.  Sometimes she looks at me like I'm disturbing her, but then I show her how little of the pillow I'm using and she gets the rest.  She usually settles down then and all is well.

Don't know how many people on board yet.  The plane normally holds 4-10 people.  Witnesses say the cargo door was open.  Also looks like a vehicle may have been hit when the plane crashed.  No word of survivors.

Up here we line up the salt trucks and snow plows if we're expecting snow.  They all wait for someone to actually see a snowflake.  I'm not sure who makes the call that it's actually a snowflake.  Anyway, then the salt trucks head out throwing that stuff everywhere so they can get it on the ground before the snow, so it doesn't turn to ice.  The plow guys finish their Subway sandwiches and THEN head out.  It works pretty well if you live and travel on the main roads.

We bought Derrie a very pretty large bed of microfiber at Macy's.  It is kind of golden red and looks pretty with her hair and the nice thing about microfiber, of course, is that it repells the hair to some degree.  She likes her bed and now we hope she will like her crate but I have my doubts.

As to cats, our tuxedo cat is lying on a down comforter covered in silk with a faux mink throw.  The persian is lying on the granite by the lava bowl.  Cats just do what they want to do, without rhyme or reason.  They rule.

Those little airplanes are just too dangerous.  I know they are necessary for crop spraying, oh how I know about that!  Also to ferry corp execs about but I will not get into one of them.  My neighbor Leon has a couple of them and his own grass landing strip complete with a metal hangar and he teases me unmercifully because I am afraid to go in his planes.

When I was younger, I was invincible but now that I am older, I know what pain feels like.  Also tend to get motion sickness something never happened before.  I am just falling apart.

But he has a beauty of a grass strip and has a little air show or something once a year with BBQ, real nice guy.  But I still am not getting into this airplane for anything.

Those poor folks on that one looks like from the fire on impact spot didn't have a chance.  Any word on what corporation?

Oh gee, my daily bread used to be provided by Cessna Aircraft and then after that Learjet, before I finished out at Boeing.

Looks like the jet that crashed was a fairly late model Cessna Citation Jet.

Now a days those come in at least 3 models, small, medium and large so to speak.

I think half the fun Shadow gets out of it, is when she comes back in, I towel her off at the door, she seems to really enjoy that attention, even demands it if I don't happen to be ready to do it.

Lil Puma, I have baby gates to keep the dogs OFF the carpet.

No way could I have them on it as would have to be replaced monthly, lol.  Yorkies are notorious for being difficult to housebreak.  I am not breeding any of mine in a year but do hope to again when I feel better.  A litter of pups on carpet is the thing of my nightmares.  I can mop in my sleep and suspect I have a few times.  If they are not peeing and pooping, they are eating something and barfing or tracking in leaves in their long coats.

The rule is the more expensive the bed, the more the dog hates it so be careful in that regard.  I have found the fav of all breeds is an old pillow for it has strong human scent on it and they just love that.  Scaalp oil.  Same thing that makes them steal your glasses.

Are you sure you and DH are up to a Border Collie for they are VERY high energy.  Like to work.  You may have to get some sheep for her to herd, lol, but in this regions which was settled by lots of Scotts, we do have excellent lines of them.  But they are workers and easily bored.  You will have to supply toys that challenge, etc. highly intelligent but easily bored.  Just what you need!!  Make DH keep her entertained.

And I love her name.  She can be taught just about anything, BTW, so don't let her fool you that she doesn't get it.

Just wanted to see if ya'll had read this from Phil Croninger of New Dominion today:

I’ve endured a lot of criticism over my statements towards the Natalee Holloway case. The majority of it was deserved, as I simply did not have my facts straight. There was a plethora of information thrown at me from both sides. I have sifted through the information provided by both the pro-Twitty and anti-Twitty camps, and attempted to find some unbiased, straight-up facts in this case. I have formed some opinions on these newfound facts, but I shall reserve them for a later column, as I need to wade through the waters of information for a little while longer before espousing my opinions.

Nonetheless, this whole ordeal has been a learning experience for me.

I’ve come to the conclusion that, in order to solidify my points, I need to modify my writing style a bit. From now on, you will not get the usual rant you have received from me on a weekly basis. Instead, to support my opinions, I will attempt to provide both the facts that form my opinions, and my proposed solutions to the problems at hand. This way, those who read the column will get a better sense of how I’ve come to my conclusions.

I am all for interaction and civil discourse. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be attempting to start a side career in column-writing. I encourage your opinions, no matter how harsh they may be, as long as it falls under the definition of civil discourse. I am applying this rule to my own articles and comments, as well.

I do want to state that I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the tenacity and devotion shown by the pro-Twitty crowd, even though they vehemently disagreed with my statements. Their intense dedication to their cause is not something to ignore, nor denigrate.

The same is to be said of those who believe that the investigation of this case is heading down the wrong path, as they may help to eventually uncover truths that were previously unknown, or ignored. To both sides of this equation, I bid you good luck in your quest to resolve this case. Whatever the final truth may be, I hope you find it.

Anna, Bull Mastiffs also have a documented bad record for ease of house training, and my son's dog was no exception. THAT'S a problem. You need a front end loader when they "go"! Carpet is a huge "no-no" and keeping them out of anywhere they want to go is as big a challenge! Strange breed, they want to be ON you all the time. It's like a 150lb. lap dog. Totally sweet and loving, but they are indoor dogs that want to be WITH you when you sleep, eat, and breathe!  :lol:

A little story, in one of my former lives I used to draw floorplans for an area contractor for spare change.

I also designed my own house that was constructed in 1977. A beautiful place with a 'GreatRoom' design and an attached 1200 sq ft. 6 car garage/hanger adjacent to the airstrip in an airpark community.

The house in the pic was built for my late xBIL a couple years later using my floorplans modified to their desires.

Char always makes a point of reminding me of that whenever I visit there.

Yes, same photo and the top one in addition to being upside down appears to have had the transparency flipped or backwards as often happens when folks photograph birthday cakes, etc.  Comes out with the print backwards but you can clearly see the "sol" part in both photos.

Neither has upside down label, however.

Is this the missing link to KJ saying cleaning fluid and a reasonable assumption of drugging?  Did Joran spill a large amount in the back seat and that is why it tested as cleaning solvent?

William Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck were found Friday afternoon in an apartment in Kirkwood. Ben, 13, went missing on Monday after getting off his school bus near his Beaufort, Missouri home. Sources tell FOX 2 News that the FBI stormed a house in Kirkwood and found Ben along with Shawn Hornbeck who had been missing since 2002.  Hornbeck was last seen riding his bike on Oct. 6 in Richwoods, MO.

Police say they went to serve a search warrant and that resulted in the recovery.

Both boys appear to be okay. They will be checked out.  

There was a tip on the truck that led them to the area.

Under arrest is, Michael J. Devlin, 41, of Kirkwood, Missouri with one count of kidnapping. He is in custody being held on $1 million bond. More charges are likely to be filed.

Shawn Hornbeck was 11 years old when he disappeared. He is now 15.

The focus of the investigation is the rundown white pickup that a witness saw speeding out of Ben’s neighborhood minutes after the boy stepped off a school bus, about 3:30 p.m. Monday. The truck, marked with rust and dents, had a camper shell and “Nissan” lettering on the back.

The guy who kidnapped them was a convicted sex offender.

This is wonderful news.  Hope the boys do not suffer too much emotional trauma, especially the one who has been missing for so long, and are able to readjust to life with their families again.  This must also raise hope in the families of other still missing children and they have to relive the hurt all over again.  Cruel.
These pedophiles need to be done away with permanently.  Some of them have children of their own.

Anna, she loves her bed and she is pretty smart.  She is smart enough to know when she wants to get her bone what it is and where she left it, but when I try to lure her away from chewing the window facing with her bone, she pretends she has no idea what or where the bone is.  If I redress her for chewing cords, etc., she looks at me in a very sad way and lies down, crosses her paws and looks up very sad.  (she ate my router cable in half and we had to splice it, chewed the window sill off in the DR and had to have new wood put around it after just painting it two months ago and ate the cord off my stereo, this all in the first six hours we owned her).  Now she has a crate but she loves her expensive bed.  Now when I scold her, she runs to her bed and pretends she is sleeping.  We bought her lots of toys.  (A man who you would know if I named him whose first name was Red and think GWB, who owned a lot of sheep but died a few years back, still has sheep on his property and the guy who tends them will let her go down and herd once a month).

Hi Tylergal.  I am not Anna but have had dogs most of my life until a couple of years ago.  Mostly German Shepherds.  But all working dogs are just so smart and Border Collies one of the smartest and most active.  Very good especially in outwitting you if you are not a couple of jumps ahead of them.  Just like a child who tests you out constantly to see what they can get away with.  Most important is to be consistent and make sure all the rest of the family insist on same rules and behaviour with the pup or she will play one against the other.  You will have great joy with her in your lives.

The neighbors in the area of the apartment complex where the boys were found say that Devlin moved in with the older boy approximately 1 month after He (the Hornbeck boy) went missing. So they have been in theat complex for several years now? I mean it's not as though there were truly innocent parties here as the students are being portrayed.  Surely somebody told them somewhere along the way in their lives that if you mess with unstable people who engage in very high risk jobs, bad things can happen.

No one should be falsely accused but then some of these boys were also underage in what they were doing as well.  Innocent of perhaps the charges against them but truly innocent, not likely.  Laws were being broken.

I thought they all had been prosecuted.  At least I don't know of any that haven't and often much harsher sentences that for what I would consider greater crimes like that man who raped the 11 yo girl for four years and received less than a year in jail.  The one Bill OReiley is so upset about, got something like 11 weeks in jail sentence?

There is no partity between the crime and the punishment received that I can see.  Maybe this needs to be made a federal crime so that things are more even across the board.

Dreadful problem with no simple solitions.  As the mother of three boys, I would want it prosecuted but would not expect the same level of punishment as some of the more horrific crimes.  Always taught my sons that they were responsible for their own sexual activity.

Maybe that's why I don't have any grandchildren, lol.

I've been chewing your insight Carnut, on the hardwiring of pedophiles. There's a theory that pedophiles are "stuck" in development of personality. Their personality age could be at age 12, or 8, or 14, etc. and therefore when their physical drives kick in, they are attracted to that age in others.
There's a huge skew of incident of same sex abuse among gay men when they were chidren, which is far greater than the general population. I suppose that could "hardwire" their sexual orientation.
The personality disorder tends to happen in families, and may have a genetic link, but then again, can come from coping skills developed when being raised by parents with such problems.
There's something closest to our identity than almost anything else about sexual issues IMO, and I admit, I don't understand it. Your insight was very interesting, Carnut.
