Haleigh Cummings' new stepmother has not been cleared as a suspect in the 5-year-old's disappearance last month, a senior sheriff's official says.

Maj. Gary Bowling also said Misty Croslin's inability on national television Friday to clear up inconsistent answers was what detectives have faced for weeks.

"Our interviews with her have been pretty much like what you saw on the "Today Show," Bowling said. "We've confronted her with her inconsistencies and America got a sample of our interviews with her."

Bowling also disputed Croslin's assertion on TV that she wasn't a suspect.

"We have not ruled her out as a suspect," he said.

Haleigh's father, Ronald, 25, and Croslin 17, appeared Friday morning on NBC's "Today Show" as part of the program's exclusive coverage of the couple's wedding in Welaka on Thursday.

During the television interview, both said they had been cleared as suspects and had passed polygraph tests.

Bowling said authorities have not released results of the tests, which were given by FBI agents shortly after Haleigh vanished on Feb. 10.
Initially, Putnam County authorities said "the world is a suspect" in Haleigh's disappearance but Bowling narrowed the focus on Friday.

"We haven't eliminated anybody connected to it as a suspect," he said.

On Thursday, Bowling told the Daily News that Croslin's account of what happened was crucial to solving the case.

He also said Croslin walked out of the room while being questioned by detectives on Wednesday.

"Misty is the key to the investigation and we are trying to work through inconsistencies in her account of the critical time period," Bowling said.

Investigators also met Wednesday with Cummings, he said.

"We are satisfied with the interviews that we have had so far with Ronald, and his account of the eight hours in question," Bowling added.
Detectives are building a timeline including anyone who had contact with Haleigh during that time. Bowling described the repeated questioning sessions as a normal part of a major investigation.+

Just Thinking Outloud...

So Le is satisfied with Ron's  account of 8 hours in questioned.. Now we have on the Cobra tapes that LE question Ron what took him so long to get home from workand this came right from Ron's mouth.Ron's attorney stated Ron had to be in by 5pm but got there early at 4:30 pm and if my math is correct if he started work at 5 pm with 1 hour lunch break that 8 hours shift would end around 2pm.

Is that why LE is questioning Ron about why it took him so long to get home around 3:30pm?

Also this is still bothering me from the Cobra tapes about Ron saying LE was questioning his long lost buddy Orlando Traylor was a drug dealor and Ron stated that there are 2 Orlando
Traylor or last name almost like his or was just like his and their social security number were off by a couple of digits. Now how in the heck would Ron know this? Where is Orlando?

Now this has crossed my mind when Ron got done work was he looking for Misty?
Maybe Misty did have the children with her and she was at a party and shw wasn't home.. Right now I can't believe one word what Misty stated or Tommy. I believe LE has the 3 in jail
that was involved but their are more pieces (persons) missing to the puzzle.

After some thought I thought it was strange for Tommy to be moved in the Putnam County jail in GP.. What was the hurry and the excuse was for his trial but last time he was move was the day before so I am just wondering if Tommy is wired to get some information and his complaint was just a hoax  Maybe I am giving him credit where it is not due but this whole move from St Johns has me baffled.  Just A Thought...

Ronald Cummings Drug Trial Delayed Again for Possible Plea Deal

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Ronald Cummings trial didn't start this morning as it was expected to, and it looks like it may never start.

Both the state and defense attorney Terry Shoemaker asked the judge this morning for another 30 days so they could continue working on a plea deal.

They said the extra month is needed so they can iron out the detail of the plea agreement, but in court they discussed possibly dropping two of the five cases against him and working the plea deal on the other three.

The next pretrial plea date is now scheduled for August 20.

 tentative plea agreement was reached this morning in the prescription drug-trafficking charges of Ronald Cummings, whose daughter Haleigh has been missing for more than a year in a high-profile Putnam County case.

In a seven-minute court appearance, Cummings attorney said his client has agreed to offer a plea in three of the five cases. The state may drop the remaining two in the deal.

Cummings, 26, is scheduled to return to court Aug. 20.

Which of the five cases might be dropped was not disclosed in the session before Circuit Judge Terry LaRue.

Attorneys in the case asked for the extension to work out details of the settlement.

Cummings was arrested in January in an undercover narcotics operation that also captured his former wife and others who were connected to Haleigh's case.

Haleigh, who was 5 when she disappeared in February 2009, has not been found.

Misty Croslin, who was married to Cummings for a brief time after the disappearance and who was watching Haleigh the night she vanished, is one of those arrested in the drug case.

Her attorney, Robert Fields, said Cummings' agreement will not change how Croslin's case is handled.

"Ronald's obviously cutting a deal to testify against her," he said.

Cummings' mother, grandmother and sister were among those in the courtroom.

After the hearing, his grandmother, Annette Sykes, said the family was hoping for the best.

"We want what's best for Ronald," she said.

The family is planning an Aug. 10 vigil for Haleigh, marking 18 months since she disappeared.

Cummings' attorney later said that as part of the deal, his client was hoping to serve no more than 15 years in prison.

Cummings' trial on the charges was scheduled to start in court here today, but his attorney and the prosecutor told Circuit Court Judge Terry LaRue they needed a month to work out the plea.

His attorney, Terry Shoemaker, said that as part of the deal two of the five charges against his client would be dropped and that he hoped with the dropped charges, his client would be sentenced to no more than 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, Cummings' daughter, Haleigh, who would turn 7 next month, has not been found. Police now have ruled the case a homicide.

Cummings' grandmother, Annette Sykes, said after the hearing the family wants the best deal for Ronald -- one that gets him home as soon as possible.

Asked if there's anything new with the Haleigh investigation, Sykes said if there is, no one's told the family.

"As far as we're concerned, Haleigh is alive," Sykes said, adding that until someone show her proof otherwise, "we're looking for a live little girl."

I get the strong feeling that Ron might very possibly be well prepared to testify against the person who hearts him so much that she tattoed his name acrossed her backside.

Honestly I don't know what the heck is going on, I can't imagine that the DA would use RC to testify in Misty & TC's drug trafficking case. The DA has a solid case in both, no need for anyone to testify IMO, but who knows. The law is pretty clear as to what the min/man is for each charge.

The only thing I can come up with is the DA believes that RC knows something that he has not told them before regarding Misty and what happened to HaLeigh. OR he has the other charge not settled with that Charles guy, the road rage or whatever it is. I doubt that the DA would reduce 25 yrs. to get that info. though.

If it has to do with HaLeigh and he has sat on info. for all this time, then he is a bigger POS than I thought he was. Course Misty might have stuff on him too and he might be afraid she will talk. Who knows with this bunch.

Misty IMO is protecting herself and someone else, is it RC, is it Timmy, is it Tommy? dunno. It has to be someone close to her like one or more of the above.

Maybe one day we will find out. Poor Haleigh.

At this point we do not know what RC has told LE, what his thoughts are or what he knows regarding HaLeigh's case.  He may not have been sitting on anything. Its possible that he has told LE all that he does know, assume, thinks.

And I don't think that RC was ever charged with the Charles Jones road rage incident.  I think that the pending case 542009CF001430XXAXMX   08/06/2009 is the fist to cuffs case with TC that happened at Ma Sykes in Welaka that he was jailed for and posted bail.

Imho, I believe the plea agreement with the state in connection with unrelated drug-trafficking charges has more to do with HaLeigh's case.

Listening to Levi show, Holly Hughes Pros. said it could be as simple as saving the state money going to trial, like $50,000.00.

Guess we will find out at some point. Fields seem to think Ronald is going to testify against Misty, think Shoemaker mentioned that earlier too.

Oh well 15 yrs. is a long time in a young person's life, (less time served I guess.) Still a long time.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tonight, is Ron Cummings about to put the squeeze on his ex-wife Misty? Ron, whose little daughter, Haleigh, has been missing for nearly a year and a half, was supposed to stand trial today on a slew of drug-trafficking charges, but in a head-spinning development, Ron`s attorney announced they are this close to a plea deal now.

So does this mean double trouble for Misty? Misty was baby-sitting Haleigh the night the 5-year-old vanished. Misty`s own lawyer says he believes Ron is cutting a deal in his drug case in exchange for testifying against Misty, who`s also facing drug charges that could land her in prison for decades.

Straight out to Art Harris, investigative journalist and founder of ArtHarris.com.

Art, is this really all about the drugs, or are prosecutors turning up the heat on Misty because they still think she could tell more about what happened to little Haleigh?

ART HARRIS, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: They have squeezed this orange, and Misty says she`s been squeezed as far as it goes but that`s exactly what it is, Jane. They are trying to keep putting pressure on her.

Actually, they have tentatively agreed to a plea deal with Ronald, but they will not sentence him until after Misty`s trial. She`s scheduled to go on trial there in Putnam County August 22. He`ll be back in court August 20.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, what`s the significance of him having to wait? In other words, they waiting to see what he says about her on the stand?

HARRIS: Exactly. Part of this plea deal, pleading to three counts of 15 years versus a 25-year drug-trafficking charge, means that they want to wait and see how cooperative he is going to be in helping them in not just the drug case. They don`t need him for the drug case. They`ve got videotapes. They want him for Haleigh, anything he can do to help them there. They`re going to wait and see. And then they`ll sentence him after Misty goes on trial.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Back in April comes dragged Misty out of jail. They schlepped her down to the banks of the St. John`s River. Days later Misty`s grandma told me here on ISSUES what Misty had told her.

FLORA HOLLARS, MISTY`S GRANDMOTHER: She called me on Monday to let me know that Tommy and Joe had wrapped Misty -- I mean wrapped Haleigh in a yellow rope and tied a brick to it and throwed [SIC] her off a dock in the St. John`s River.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now, Tommy and Joe insist they did not do that, and neither of them have been charged with that. Nobody has been charged. Haleigh`s body hasn`t been found despite repeated searches. So Art Harris, was this all a big dead end? We were so hopeful when we saw this activity that we`d finally learn what happened in this mysterious case.

HARRIS: Well, at the time, Jane, Tommy told the cops that he was in the van with Joe when he took Haleigh, that he passed out, he was on drugs, taking Xanax, and he doesn`t know what Joe did with her but says he did dump her in the river.

Now, no body has been recovered. And I know that law enforcement is very frustrated with Tommy, because he basically pointed out where they should search the river, and they didn`t find a body there, Jane. Now, anything could have happened to that body. It`s got swift currents. It`s got alligators. And we don`t know. They have not found the yellow rope nor that cinderblock.

So this is something that is yet to be determined. They`re calling it a murder but don`t have a body.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s absolutely fascinating that this little -- little teenager has managed to really perplex and mystify all of these seasoned investigators and that we still do not have the straight story after more than a year and a half of what happened to this precious girl.

Just to let you know so you don't worry HaLeigh's case is not a cold case. PCSO is still actively working the case.

With Lisa and Hank in the court room today ( they looked so sad ) and them knowing that part of the plea deal for Ronald will be to testify against their daughter my hope is that they get this information to Misty. I also pray that when Misty finds out the years she will be facing she will make a plea deal and finally tell the truth about what happened to precious little HaLeigh and let the chips fall where they may.

Guess we will find out in August.

Ronald Cummings, father of the still missing –and presumed murdered — five year old named Haleigh, Monday agreed to plead guilty to three of five lesser felony drug trafficking charges, if Florida prosecutors will drop two other counts requiring 25 year mandatory sentences.

“It takes a couple of bullets out of the worst case outcome had we gone to trial on all five charges,” his attorney Terry Shoemaker told The Bald Truth shortly after he joined the state attorney Monday in asking a Putnam County Circuit Judge Terry LaRue for another month to work out details of the plea.

For Cummings, this means another 30 days in the Putnam County Jail. A hearing on the plea deal was set for Aug. 20, but any sentencing is expected to be postponed until his ex-wife, Misty Croslin, finishes her related drug trafficking trial, set to kick off Aug. 22.

It’s just not adding up

Teresa Neves’s strange relationship with Florida law enforcement

When Misty Croslin and Ronald Cummings made the 3:27 a.m. emergency 911 call the night HaLeigh Cummings was reported missing, deputies arrived on the scene at 3:40 a.m.

Teresa Neves, Ronald Cummings’ mother, arrived at the same time as the deputies.

The police report clearly states that Neves told the officer she was telephoned by her son after he learned HaLeigh was missing. The report also says Ronald Cummings told Misty Croslin to call 911 immediately after he was told his daughter was missing.

That means Ronald Cummings had to call Teresa Neves between 3:27 a.m. and 3:40 a.m. (law enforcement already has all the family cell phone records so they already know if that call took place).

The 911 call stayed active until the deputy arrived.

During the 911 call Ronald Cummings speaks intermittently to the operator. At other times he is heard ranting and raving in the background. Late into the call he announces he cannot find his phone.

When exactly did he call Neves?

There are serious problems with Neves’ explanation for how fast she arrived (almost immediately) at the so-called crime-scene that night.

Neves has stated she was at home sleeping when she was notified. This meant she had to get out of bed, get dressed, find a photograph of HaLeigh for the missing person report, and drive the 10-plus miles to the location. She explained her miraculous appearance by saying she drove 90 mph.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office told the media that the biggest hindrance to the HaLeigh Cummings investigation is Misty Croslin’s sketchy timeline.

Neves’ timeline is equally as sketchy, if not worse, and has received absolutely no attention from the PCSO or FDLE in any of their media releases.

Neves’ timeline has become the pink elephant in the corner that law enforcement tries to pretend is not there.

Write Into Action has concerns about the relationship between Neves and certain members of Florida law enforcement.

The dynamics of the relationship between Neves and members of the PCSO and FDLE are not normal by any ethical standards amidst an investigation into the disappearance of a five year-old.

The following concerns are derived from investigative work product Write Into Action can produce at any time.

CONCERN: Teresa Neves claims to have reported to law enforcement that someone broke into her house and stole a box of HaLeigh’s clothes. She claims that she reported it to Special Agent Jason Jolicuer, FDLE, and he never investigated it.

CONCERN: Teresa Neves claims to have reported that someone got on her computer and stole photos. She claimed further that photos that belonged to Marie Griffis were placed onto the computer. Again, Neves claims that SA Jolicuer did not even investigate this after it was reported to him. 

CONCERN: Ranking members of the PCSO warned Neves during a private meeting to be quiet about things. They said, “Shut your f***ing mouth.” She was threatened with arrest. Why is law enforcement warning a missing child’s grandmother to shut up? What is she supposed to shut up about?

CONCERN: Investigators warned Teresa Neves that her phone was tapped and they were reading all of her text messages. PCSO officials told Neves they knew who she was talking to and provided her actual names of people she was not supposed to communicate with. One of those people is Timothy Charles Holmseth, owner/publisher, Write Into Action. Why are law enforcement personnel warning Neves that they are watching her? Why not simply watch and listen as in accordance with the law and possibly gather valuable information from the clandestine tactic. Why do they warn her about their vast surveillance abilities (and tell her to shut up)? It is an oxy-moron in logic.

CONCERN: PCSO Major Gary Bowling raised his voice so loud while on the phone with Teresa Neves it was considered shouting. He was very angry at her. Why would Major Bowling be angry at Teresa Neves?

CONCERN: Every time Teresa Neves met with law enforcement she was told to not talk about it.

CONCERN: SA Jolicuer (according to Neves) told Teresa Nevss he believes the PCSO is very dirty and he does not trust them.

CONCERN: SA Jolicuer is aware that Neves had established a network of people who were sending her cash (she would claim she needed money for her phone bills etc.) and the funds were used by Neves to support a prescription drug habit. Jolicuer directly advised Neves’ contacts they should stop sending her money. Jolicuer said the FDLE had the names of all the people Neves was receiving money from. If the FDLE and PSCO are aware that Neves is engaging in illegal activities involving prescription drugs – why don’t they arrest her?

ME: ugggg, I hope the bolded part is not true, I sent her money for her phone bill..I was never contacted by anyone about it though.

 ::MonkeyMad:: Teresa Neves has resided in/around Lake County for the past nine years. Her residence of record was Fruitland Park on Feb9, 2009. This trailer on Rita Lane has been listed in AS's name, Crystal (rc's sister) and rc's name. It has never been listed in TN's name.

It has been reported that she officially put Rita Lane as her addy in March of this year. Better late than never. She never listed it before as her place of residence.

The trailer must be owned by AS or another family member and sitting there on an illegal piece of land as the addy has no parcel. Check it out! you won't find one. TN had been living with her boyfriend jeff h. for years. Weren't they finally evicted in January this year? On Feb 9, 2009, the rita lane addy was listed in AS and CC's name. There is something shady about that place.

When you think about it, why didn't TN go over to check on the kids on that fateful night? She got a call and sent "A family member" over to check on the kids....hmmm. My guess is she wasn't living on Rita Lane and was traveling back to Putnam after getting a call. She lied to the LE on report about her addy and her job as she wasn't working for Gainsville (Alachua County Dispatch).

She recently settled a car accident with a business man near Lake County.(.I think the car wreck was in 2008) close to where the incident occurred. If you check out the papers, you will see that all her doctors and Lawyers were not in Putnam County which also leads credence to her living in Fruitland  Park.I am sorry to hear that anyone sent her money, but worse, I am sorry she accepted it.

Updated the story, so hopefully the answer is there…possibly 15 years, or less, depending on how much he cooperates. Won’t figure his sentence until AFTER Misty’s trial is done and she is sentenced. That’s when Ronald and his attorney, Terry Shoemaker, a former Navy veteran just returned from a 25 year reunion in Italy with shipmates on an old sub tender, the U.S.S Orion, will waltz into court and make a case for Ronald’s cooperation and lobby for as little time as possible. It will likely be 10-14 years, with the criminal serving about 85 per cent of mandatory sentences. Art

Cummings likely to testify against ex-wife

PALATKA — A plea in the prescription drug-trafficking case of Ronald Cummings, who gained national attention with the story of his daughter's disappearance more than a year ago, would be squarely aimed at co-defendant Misty Croslin, her attorney said following a court hearing for Cummings Monday.

Robert Fields said Cummings’ offer to make a plea in three of five drug charges in exchange for dropping the other two meant he will likely testify against Croslin, who was also arrested in the undercover drug bust. Croslin, 18, was watching Haleigh Cummings when the 5-year-old disappeared.

“Ronald’s obviously cutting a deal to testify against her,” Fields said.

In a seven-minute court appearance Monday, Cummings’ attorney and prosecutor Jason Lewis asked Circuit Judge Terry LaRue for a month to work out details.

Cummings’ attorney, Terry Shoemaker, who was not available after Monday’s hearing, did not say whether testifying in Croslin’s case would be part of the deal. Cummings, 26, is scheduled to return to court Aug. 20.

In May, Shoemaker said he was pursuing a deal that would drop the two most serious charges so a sentence would reflect only the three less serious cases. Sentences are guided by the weight of the drugs sold.

Two of the charges are for amounts of prescription drugs that carry a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years. Two others mandate 15-year sentences and one requires a three-year sentence.

Three other people, including a brother of Croslin and a cousin of Cummings, were arrested in the drug operation that ended in January. The fifth person was a friend of Croslin’s. They were arrested selling pills to an undercover officer during a monthlong investigation.

Detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office have used the arrests in the drug cases to ask questions about the missing girl.

Haleigh has not been found, and Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy has said he believes she is dead.

Fields said the questioning of co-defendants and the threat of them testifying against his client puts more pressure on Croslin but won’t have an impact on the defense. He said Croslin has told detectives what she knows about Haleigh’s disappearance.

“If they don’t want to act on that, that’s their decision,” he said.

Haleigh disappeared in February 2009. Croslin, who was at the mobile home and initially told investigators she woke up to find the kindergartner gone, later was married to Cummings for a brief time in the summer but the two divorced.

Cummings’ mother, grandmother and sister were among those in the courtroom Monday.

After the hearing his grandmother, Annette Sykes, said the family was hoping for the best. She said she was not aware of any plea details.

“We want what’s best for Ronald,” she said.

Ronald Cummings sat silently Monday morning in a Putnam County courtroom as his attorney discussed a potential plea bargain in the drug case that landed the Satsuma man in jail months ago.

Cummings is widely known as the father of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, who vanished in February 2009.

Although not considered a suspect in his daughter's disappearance, Cummings and four others were arrested in January on charges of trafficking in prescription drugs. Authorities released videos of several undercover transactions.

On Monday, officials discussed a plea agreement to drop two of the five trafficking charges faced by the 26-year-old.

Cummings will plead guilty to three other drug trafficking charges, his attorney said.

"He would plead to the three lesser charges," defense Terry Shoemaker said after Monday's hearing in Palatka. "And part of the plea agreement is that he would plead guilty."

Shoemaker is hoping Cummings will only receive 15 years after the plea deal is made with the state, with the two higher charges - which would mandate a 25-year minimum sentence - dropped.

That would happen Shoemaker said, in exchange "for giving all information he has regarding everything and anything they ask him."

Shoemaker could not specify what that would entail, but he said that it would encompass, "everything that is pending throughout the whole year and a half."

Cummings would also give "substantial assistance" in the narcotics case, and depending on the state's needs, testify against 18-year-old Misty Croslin if she goes to trial on the drug charges.

Croslin was babysitting Haleigh when the child disappeared from her Satsuma home. No sign of the blonde-haired kindergartner has been located despite massive searches on land and water.

The case remains an on-going investigation since it was deemed a homicide in April, with investigators repeating that Croslin is the key to the solving the case.

Croslin faces eight counts of trafficking following the narcotics investigation, with the last chance to take a negotiated plea Aug. 16.

Her brother Hank Croslin Jr., 23, pleaded no contest to two counts of trafficking and faces up to 30 years, while 18-year-old Hope Sykes, Cummings' cousin, has received 15-years for one count of trafficking in hydrocodone.

Despite the case being labeled a homicide, the Cummings family still holds hope that Haleigh is alive.

"If you don't have some sort of proof to show me that my great-granddaughter is no longer alive, then don't expect me to just take your word for it," Annette Sykes, Haleigh's great-grandmother, said Monday following the hearing. "We are looking for a live little girl."

Sykes also believes Croslin has information to Haleigh's whereabouts.

"I'm sure she knows something.There has been so many lies told one after another and you don't know what to believe anymore - it is just unreal," Sykes said.

Shoemaker alluded that Cummings may hold similar feelings about the case.

"I think that he believes that law enforcement is heading down the right track," Shoemaker said. "Who all is involved, he doesn't know."

Cummings' family and the mother and father of Croslin were in attendance Monday at the hearing conducted by Circuit Judge Terry LaRue.

LaRue set the plea date for Cummings for Aug. 20 at 11 a.m.

"We would just like to get it settled but we want what's best for Ronald," Sykes said. "I hope they get something worked out."

Teresa Neves, Cummings' mother, added that "he's doing the best he can."

"He doesn't know where Haleigh is and that's the number one thing on his mind," she said.

Neves said she is taking events one day at a time.

"This is a very hard thing," she said. "It's hard to lose your granddaughter and then to look at this for your son."

PALATKA - Ronald Cummings - the father of Haleigh Cummings, the 5-year-old who was reported missing from his Satsuma home in February 2009 and has yet to be found - has tentatively reached a plea agreement with the state on drug-trafficking charges and will likely spend 15 years in prison.

After a court appearance here Monday, Cummings' attorney, Terry Shoemaker, said his client has been working with investigators by providing information about his co-defendants as part of the plea, which would require Cummings, 26, to plead guilty to three of the five charges, each of which could carry a 15-year sentence if the case went to trial. Shoemaker said Cummings would likely spend 15 years in prison.

The two other charges will be dropped.

Meanwhile, Cummings has continued to talk with police about his daughter's disappearance, Shoemaker said.

"Ronald's always been very forthright and talked to law enforcement every opportunity that he's had, when they've given him questions or had anything they wanted to talk to him about, and he continues to do that," he said.

When asked whether information that would help resolve his daughter's case would reduce a sentence on the drug charges for Cummings or a co-defendant, Chris Kelly, a spokesman for the State Attorney's Office that covers Putnam County, declined to comment because the Sheriff's Office is the lead agency.

Shoemaker and Assistant State Attorney Jason Lewis told Circuit Judge Terry LaRue on Monday they needed about a month to sort out the deal, and another court date was set for Aug. 20, three days after Haleigh's seventh birthday.

After undercover operations in Putnam and St. Johns counties wrapped up in January, Cummings; his cousin Hope Sykes; his ex-wife, Misty Croslin; her brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr.; and her friend Donna Brock were all arrested and accused of selling prescription drugs.

In April, Sykes pleaded no contest to a count of trafficking prescription narcotics and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the mandatory minimum sentence.

Tommy Croslin also pleaded no contest and will be sentenced Aug. 6, and Brock will be sentenced Sept. 1.

For now, Misty Croslin, who was baby-sitting Haleigh the night she disappeared and is the last known person to see the girl alive, is set to go to trial.

Outside the courthouse, Cummings' family members told reporters that the past six months in jail have been hard on him, and the plea deal might be in his best interest.

"If it's the best thing for Ronald, that's all that we want," his grandmother, Annette Sykes said. "We don't want him in there any longer than he has to be."

Sykes said Father's Day last month was particularly difficult for Cummings - not knowing what happened to Haleigh and also not being able to see his son, Ronald Cummings Jr.

"He always wonders and worries about her," she said, adding that he spent most of the day in tears.

In April, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office ruled Haleigh's case a homicide, but Sykes emphatically said that the family doesn't believe the girl is dead.

"As far as we are concerned," she said, "Haleigh is alive."

“Ronald doesn’t want to believe Misty had anything to do with harming Haleigh or helping those who did,” Terry Shoemaker tells me, “but if she’s been holding back, and it looks like she has, that it’s because she was threatened or coerced.”

He tells me his client has told cops everything he knows about his ex, even playing along in kicking her to the curb and keeping her isolated to pressure her, try to “make her crack.” As a result of what he’s done so far in the Haleigh case, he’s found a small window of opportunity.

By offering to preserve the 15 year trafficking sentences, and hinting he’d drop two counts with 25 year mandatory maximums, “they gave us a 10 year widow of opportunity,” Shoemaker tells The Bald Truth. “They offered us 10 years less than what we could have gotten. That was nice of them.”

I never ever thought Ron would go to trial before MC or TC!  I'm sure everyone want those two to go down and or reveal the truth before Ron gets his day in court.  I think they will sentence those 2 heavy heavy and Ron will once again come out smelling like a rose and piss them off so bad they may end up talking and it won't help them one little bit after they've been sentenced!  At least that is what I'm dreaming for! lol

Ronald Cummings remains in jail on five drug trafficking charges. The deal would have Cummings plead guilty to three lesser charges. The two more serious charges would be dropped.

Even with the plea deal, Cummings would face 15 years in jail.

According to private investigator Steve Brown, former FBI agent who now works for Tommy Croslin’s attorney, James Werter, his client has no recollection of Joe actually dumping the body, just carrying it from the van towards the dock.

However it went down, Brown tells me Tommy claims Joe called to say he was picking him up to go to the trailer, with guns and theft on his mind, specifically a vintage World War II machine gun, fully automatic. Ronald had showed it it off about a week earlier over beers Chez Cummings. If he let them touch it, as I’m told, might their prints still be on it if it’s ever found? Might such a piece of evidence be used to shore up Tommy and Misty’s dashed credibility to back up their story, maybe lead to the arrest of a Tennessee cousin?

“I don’t know about any machine gun like that,” Terry Shoemaker tells me. If he did have a fully automatic weapon, and admitted it, that raises possible federal gun charges and the specter of ATF agents joining the swarm. Others insist Cummings had it.

As for Ronald, the Croslins tell me he seemed content just to get his gun back, but Joe felt humiliated, and vowed to get even. Only no one thinks anything of it until a week later when Tommy claims Joe calls him: he’s on his way to pick him up in the blue van he’d loaned brother Timmy and Chelsea. Ronald is at work; the coast is clear. Showtime.

As for the last night Haleigh was seen alive, when Joe pulls up to pick up Tommy, Lindsay is asleep with the kids; Tommy is high on pills. He climbs into the van and heads to the trailer, probably about midnight. That’s the yarn Steve Brown tells me he’s been able to piece together from talks with Croslin.

What happens next is sketchy.

I dont post alot here anymore but I do read here EVERY day and every day when I get here I hope and pray for news on HaLeigh, I dont think any of them should be allowed to get shorter sentencing, or any type of plea bargin, nothing, Ronald , whether he knows what happened or not, does not deserve to get a plea bargin, he sold drugs just like Tommy and Misty did, he is no better then they are and he also is the one that allowed all this crap to go on around his kids every day, HE was the father and as these childrens Father he was suppose to protect them and put them first before himself or anyone else, but sadly he was all about himself and what he wanted to do, just like he is now...God Please get the justice for HaLeigh that she deserves, let her where a bouts be known so that her Loved ones can get the closure they needs and this precious child either come home or be layed to rest in the fashion she deserves....

If it's about Haleigh, then he's part of the cover up.
If it's about drugs, then he's also part of that because he's into drugs as well.
It makes no sense.
There is no progress in this case as far as I can see.

Time to make these charges stick ... feel for Donna and Hope getting 15 yrs. with only one charge and then we have Ron ...  read a piece written by Art Harris saying that it maybe 10 - 14 yrs...with only 85% being served.  @#$%^%$#@.  I do feel that Satsuma is gonna be invaded and people are going to picket that court house if that happens.

Exclusive: 19 days after his daughter Haleigh Cummings vanished from her home in Satsuma Florida, Ronald Cummings acted like anything but a concerned parent according to sources close to the case. Many followers of the case immediately became suspicious of Ronald Cummings, when he decided to marry his 17-year-old live in girlfriend Misty Croslin, the last known person to see Haleigh alive, a month after his daughter vanished.

But for one individual (who will be renamed Susan due to privacy concerns) the father of this 6-year-old adorable little girl, became suspicious before the court of public opinion caught on to his eyebrow raising behavior.

Susan was sitting at a well known bar that family/friends attend in the area. She was sitting next to Ronald and Misty Croslin. Ronald whispered to Susan: "You're gonna have to come chill without the ole man." Susan, not wanting to be rude, smiled and brushed it off thinking that would be the end of that coversation. Susan thought Ronald was more concerned about his missing daughter than hanging out. She was wrong...

An hour later Susan met up with Ronald and Misty again. Ronald was standing up and Misty was sitting down 5 feet away. Ronald then asked Susan: "Can I ask you something? You promise you won't get mad or offended? Do you like girls? Would you do something with Misty and me?" Susan didn't answer and looked at Misty, who had no response. Ronald then said, "I told you! I told her (Misty) you would!" Susan responded by saying: "Oh I don't think your girl would be cool with that Ronald." Ronald retorted, "she is, she's cool with it."

Ronald and Misty were getting ready to leave,  Ronald gave Susan his new telephone number, telling her "I'm gonna call you from my phone, so you'll have my number." Ronald then said "Get rid of homeboy."

Before Ron and Misty left, Susan hugged Misty and apologized asking her if she was mad, and Misty answered no, explaining they had to be somewhere.

That was the last time the subject came up, but Susan still finds it odd and weird that he would be thinking about that while his daughter was missing.

777.03  Accessory after the fact.--

(1)(a)  Any person not standing in the relation of husband or wife, parent or grandparent, child or grandchild, brother or sister, by consanguinity or affinity to the offender, who maintains or assists the principal or an accessory before the fact, or gives the offender any other aid, knowing that the offender had committed a crime and such crime was a third degree felony, or had been an accessory thereto before the fact, with the intent that the offender avoids or escapes detection, arrest, trial, or punishment, is an accessory after the fact.

(b)  Any person who maintains or assists the principal or accessory before the fact, or gives the offender any other aid, knowing that the offender had committed the offense of child abuse, neglect of a child, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child under 18 years of age, or murder of a child under 18 years of age, or had been an accessory thereto before the fact, with the intent that the offender avoids or escapes detection, arrest, trial, or punishment, is an accessory after the fact unless the court finds that the person is a victim of domestic violence.

(c)  Any person who maintains or assists the principal or an accessory before the fact, or gives the offender any other aid, knowing that the offender had committed a crime and such crime was a capital, life, first degree, or second degree felony, or had been an accessory thereto before the fact, with the intent that the offender avoids or escapes detection, arrest, trial, or punishment, is an accessory after the fact.

(2)(a)  If the felony offense committed is a capital felony, the offense of accessory after the fact is a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

(b)  If the felony offense committed is a life felony or a felony of the first degree, the offense of accessory after the fact is a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

(c)  If the felony offense committed is a felony of the second degree or a felony of the third degree ranked in level 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 under s. 921.0022 or s. 921.0023, the offense of accessory after the fact is a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

The assistance to the criminal may be of any type, including emotional or financial assistance as well as physical assistance or concealment.

Knowledge of the crime
To be convicted of an accessory charge, the accused must generally be proved to have had actual knowledge that a crime was going to be, or had been, committed. Furthermore, there must be proof that the accessory knew that his or her action, or inaction, was helping the criminals commit the crime, or evade detection, or escape. A person who unknowingly houses a person who has just committed a crime, for instance, may not be charged with an accessory offense because they did not have knowledge of the crime.

In many jurisdictions a person may not be charged as an accessory to a crime committed by his or her spouse. This is related to the traditional privilege not to testify against an accused spouse, and the older idea that a wife was completely subject to the orders of a husband, whether lawful or illegal.

In most jurisdictions an accessory cannot be tried before the principal is convicted, unless the accessory and principal are tried together, or unless the accessory consents to being tried first.

Parents of Misty Croslin Arrested on Cocaine Charges

Hank Thomas Croslin Sr. and Lisa Carmen Croslin are behind bars in the Putnam County on drug charges.

Friday night, the parents of Misty Croslin and Tommy Croslin who are in jail for drug trafficking charges, were arrested on charges of purchasing cocaine and violation of probation.

Misty Croslin was babysitting then 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings at the child's Satsuma home when she was abducted in February of 2009. Since then, investigators maintain that Misty knows more about what happened to the child than she has told police. Investigators have been critical of her stories citing numerous inconsistencies.

Misty Croslin, Tommy Croslin, Hope Sykes and Donna Brock along with the father of missing Haleigh Cummings' father, Ronald Cummings were arrested in January on charges of drug trafficking. All but Ronald and Misty have pleaded no contest to the charges. Ronald Cummings' attorney is negotiating a plea deal that would lessen his client's time in prison to 15 years while Misty's trials in both Putnam and St. Johns counties are scheduled for dates in August.

That is a good question, you hardly have money but you can figure out a way to get drugs. This is all so sad and tragic.

UPDATE: Jul/24 10:20am - BNN has been beating the bushes for more information. An unnamed source close to the Haleigh Cummings case has revealed that the arrests were ‘most likely’ part of a sting operation.

The question in my mind is why do PCSO want Hank and Lisa? Of course there are two different types of sting, Targeted, and Opportunistic. Which was this? My guess is Targeted, but why?

Misty Croslin’s Mom and Dad — Busted Again!

He was saying how officials must, deep down, believe her latest story, cousin Joe snatched Haleigh, threatened to kill her and her family, yadayada, attributing JR’s rescue by child welfare workers who handed him over to his mother, Crystal Sheffield, to Misty ratting out her ex, Ronald for morphine pills, the same ex husband whose pending plea deal depends on him ratting her out. You still with me?

“That’s right, go ask ‘em, saved Junior’s life,” Hank Sr is telling me, proud Papa hailing his girl for doing the right thing. We haven’t been able to check out his accolades, but a vigilant Bald Truth reader did tip me that shortly after I hung up with Hank, he was behind bars in the Putnam County Jail, again, with wife Lisa Croslin, both charged with buying cocaine, a felony, violating probation on their own charges, and held on $5,004.

It has been an interesting week in all three cases. Obviously the hot topic in the Haleigh Cummings case is that now Misty Croslins parents will no longer have to pay the extortionate rates demanded by PayTel. Both Hank and Lisa Croslin have joined the rest of the family behind bars. In what BNN is being told by sources we cannot name, they were picked up in a sting operation on Friday evening. They are both charged with attempting to purchase Cocaine. Both are currently being help on  $5004 bonds. I am pretty sure that Timmy Croslin’s Tax Refund check is long gone, so it would seem likely that the pair will be spending some considerable time behind bars. If I was a cynic I might be tempted to ask the question, if they could not afford the gas money to visit daughter Misty, and they were supposedly homeless, where do they get money for cocaine? With Thanksgiving only 4 months away, could this be the biggest family gathering in years?

A couple of questions:

1) How does Steve Brown who was working on behalf of the he Sheffields, now work for Tommy Croslin’s lawyer? This does not seem ethnical.

2) If James Werter no longer represents TC on the Haleigh situation, then why is his “investigator leaking information?

I do not think for one moment that JO killed Haleigh.

I think that Haleigh was killed by Misty in her drug induced states for being “difficult”, and she called TC and JO to help her dispose of Haleigh.

OR creepy Tommy Croslin and Misty was caught by Haleigh doing the dirty, and Haleigh threatened to tell daddy, either Tommy or Misty killed her to keep her from telling Ronald, they were both drugged to the gills.

Ronald is a father who has made some very questionable decisions about the environment and people surrounding young Haleigh and Jr, however I do not think that Ronald has anything to do with his daughters disappearance/possible death.

If it was as simple as Joe did it, the truth would have come out long ago, this family is habitual liars, and I feel that we might never find Haleigh.

Thanks Heart.  There is a part of me and can't help it that feels sorry for all this drug addiction within these families  ::MonkeyNoNo::  But the money to buy Coke, maybe there was some stealing going on again to get the money. For gosh sakes is it to the point that Hank and Lisa just don't give a d@mn, because they must know that LE are watching them? At least this way they have room and board and their family together somewhat  ::MonkeyShocked::

AH also said that Fields said that giving RC a plea deal is like giving a plea deal to a 4 star general against a private.

He has been her attorney for a while now. There were times we thought he had dropped her, but his name kept popping back up. I don't remember exactly when she retained him, but he has definately been her attorney for some time.

On the day the Grand Jury meets, there is a docket call, where the cases that have come up from the lower court, as well as the cases that the Grand Jury decides to proceed with are set for trial.

All of you concerned about little HaLeigh and want justice served are welcome!

Interesting terminology from the attorney. Why would he refer to it as a story?

Lord Have Mercy!  Trying to keep up with all these active cases is next to impossible and I don't even post much, just try to keep up with reading! 

This one has me floored. I'm speechless!  Disgusted!   ::MonkeyMad::

All I can say to ease my own mind is all these innocents are truly in a better place, considering what they were living with.  Caylee, Hayeigh,  etc....   These poor precsious one's never stood a chance.  I can at least rest in the thought of knowing they are sitting at the thrown of God, living painless, happy and dysfunctional free.  We can only pray for justice now.  But that is in God's hands as well.

I thank God for SM and it's loving, caring, jutice seeking and supportive people I have come to know and love.

Misty's Parents Jailed On Drug Charges

Couple's Son, Daughter Also Arrested On Drug Charges Earlier This Year

PALATKA, Fla. -- Over recent months, the parents of Misty Cummings and Hank Croslin Jr. have been seen on videotape visiting their children in the Putnam County Jail. Friday night, Hank Croslin Sr. and Lisa Croslin were also arrested, each on one count of purchasing cocaine and parole violations.

Putnam County deputies said the two were among 15 people arrested during a neighborhood drug sting. According to the arrest reports, Lisa and Hank Croslin went to a known drug house and Hank Sr. went inside an made a purchase. Deputies said they were stopped about a block away and arrested.

The case is prominent because Misty was briefly married to Ronald Cummings and she was the last person to see 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared in February 2009.

Ronald Cummings, Misty and Hank Croslin Jr. and several others were arrested in January after an undercover drug sting. Prosecutors have released video they said shows Haleigh's father, his ex-wife and four others selling cocaine.

Hank Croslin Jr. has pleaded no contest and is awaiting sentencing. Ronald Cummings has a tentative plea agreement on charges against him and is due back in court next month.

Both may be asked to testify against Misty Cummings.

Authorities said none of the drug charges have any connection to the ongoing investigation of Haleigh's disappearance, which they now consider a homicide case.

Croslin parents arrested

Hank Thomas Croslin and Lisa Carmen Croslin, the parents of Misty Croslin Cummings, were arrested Friday and charged with cocaine purchase and probation violation.

They are both being held at the Putnam County Jail in Palatka with a $5,004 bond.

Misty Croslin Cummings was the last person to see HaLiegh Cummings before the 5-year-old disappeared on Feb. 10, 2009, from her father's Satsuma home. Misty Croslin Cummings and HaLeigh's father Ronald were married about a month later and have since divorced. Misty Croslin Cummings is currently in the St. Johns County Jail on drug charges.

Two more Croslins jailed on drug charges

Another round of drug cases with ties to missing Haleigh Cummings, the 5-year-old who was reported missing from her father's Satsuma home in February 2009, are now working their way through the Putnam County court system.

On Friday night, Palatka Police arrested Lisa Carmen Croslin, 40, and Hank Thomas Croslin Sr., 41, on charges of purchasing cocaine, tampering with evidence and violating their probation in earlier cases. The Croslins' daughter, Misty Croslin, was watching Haleigh the night the little girl disappeared.

According to Assistant Police Chief James Griffith, the Croslins were arrested Friday night during an undercover crack cocaine operation at a home at 809 Bronson St. in Palatka.

"They came up and bought drugs," Griffith said. "(Lisa) was driving and (Hank Sr.) was the passenger. He went inside and bought $20 worth of cocaine."

According to Griffith, the couple was allowed to drive away and appeared to throw the cocaine out the window when they noticed police were trying to pull them over.

Both of the Croslins were already on felony probation, Lisa in connection with a forgery case and Hank Sr. for doctor shopping. They were being held at the Putnam County jail on Monday. They were both denied bond on the violation of probation charges.

Previous undercover drug operations in Putnam and St. Johns counties results in drug charges being filed against Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, 26; his ex-wife, Misty Croslin; his cousin Hope Sykes; Misty's brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr.; and Misty's friend Donna Brock. They were all arrested and accused of selling prescription drugs.

Ronald Cummings tentatively reached a plea agreement with the state on drug-trafficking charges earlier this month and will likely be sentenced to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced in late August.

In April, Sykes pleaded no contest to a count of trafficking prescription narcotics and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the mandatory minimum sentence.

Tommy Croslin also pleaded no contest and will be sentenced Aug. 6.

Hank, Lisa Croslin Arrested for Cocaine in Palatka

PALATKA, Fla. -- The parents of Misty Croslin have been arrested for charges similar to those that landed their daughter in jail in January.

Hank and Lisa Croslin were arrested Friday night for purchasing cocaine from an undercover agent, according to Assistant Police Chief James Griffith with the Palatka Police Department.

They each face charges of cocaine purchase and violation of probation stemming from previous, unrelated arrests.

They are being held on $5,004 bond.

Misty Croslin, her former husband Ronald Cummings, and three other people were arrested in January in a drug bust.

Misty Croslin's trial is set to begin in late August, and attorneys for Cummings are still working on a potential plea agreement in his case.

Cummings' daughter Haleigh has been the subject of an Amber Alert since Feb. 2009.  She was last seen by Misty Croslin, who was watching her the night she vanished.

Misty Croslin  suppositly going to Plea no contest.. So if this is true and there is not going to be a trial does this mean Ron had to wait until the day of court for Misty on August 23, 2010
to see how she Pleas and then the deal is off the table for Ron unless Misty changes her Plea of No Contest. I don't see it any other way..The cards are in Misty for Ron's fate. JMO Ron should not get any specal treatment of any table deals..He could of come forward with all information but waited now to save his arse not because of Haleigh who has been missing for 18 months and presumed a homocide case. And I can see him pleading before the Judge that his daughter Haleigh missing caused him to turn to drugs and used Haleigh disappearance to benefit himself in court. Cummings plea deal takes shape

Ronald Cummings sat silently Monday morning in a Putnam County courtroom as his attorney discussed a potential plea bargain in the drug case that landed the Satsuma man in jail months ago.

Cummings is widely known as the father of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, who vanished in February 2009.

Although not considered a suspect in his daughter's disappearance, Cummings and four others were arrested in January on charges of trafficking in prescription drugs. Authorities released videos of several undercover transactions.

On Monday, officials discussed a plea agreement to drop two of the five trafficking charges faced by the 26-year-old.


Cummings will plead guilty to three other drug trafficking charges, his attorney said.

"He would plead to the three lesser charges," defense Terry Shoemaker said after Monday's hearing in Palatka. "And part of the plea agreement is that he would plead guilty."

Shoemaker is hoping Cummings will only receive 15 years after the plea deal is made with the state, with the two higher charges - which would mandate a 25-year minimum sentence - dropped.

That would happen Shoemaker said, in exchange "for giving all information he has regarding everything and anything they ask him."

Shoemaker could not specify what that would entail, but he said that it would encompass, "everything that is pending throughout the whole year and a half."

Cummings would also give "substantial assistance" in the narcotics case, and depending on the state's needs, testify against 18-year-old Misty Croslin if she goes to trial on the drug charges.
Croslin was babysitting Haleigh when the child disappeared from her Satsuma home. No sign of the blonde-haired kindergartner has been located despite massive searches on land and water.

The case remains an on-going investigation since it was deemed a homicide in April, with investigators repeating that Croslin is the key to the solving the case.

Croslin faces eight counts of trafficking following the narcotics investigation, with the last chance to take a negotiated plea Aug. 16.

Her brother Hank Croslin Jr., 23, pleaded no contest to two counts of trafficking and faces up to 30 years, while 18-year-old Hope Sykes, Cummings' cousin, has received 15-years for one count of trafficking in hydrocodone.

Despite the case being labeled a homicide, the Cummings family still holds hope that Haleigh is alive.

"If you don't have some sort of proof to show me that my great-granddaughter is no longer alive, then don't expect me to just take your word for it," Annette Sykes, Haleigh's great-grandmother, said Monday following the hearing. "We are looking for a live little girl."

Sykes also believes Croslin has information to Haleigh's whereabouts.

"I'm sure she knows something.There has been so many lies told one after another and you don't know what to believe anymore - it is just unreal," Sykes said.

Shoemaker alluded that Cummings may hold similar feelings about the case.

"I think that he believes that law enforcement is heading down the right track," Shoemaker said. "Who all is involved, he doesn't know."

Cummings' family and the mother and father of Croslin were in attendance Monday at the hearing conducted by Circuit Judge Terry LaRue.

LaRue set the plea date for Cummings for Aug. 20 at 11 a.m.

"We would just like to get it settled but we want what's best for Ronald," Sykes said. "I hope they get something worked out."

Teresa Neves, Cummings' mother, added that "he's doing the best he can."

"He doesn't know where Haleigh is and that's the number one thing on his mind," she said.

Neves said she is taking events one day at a time.

"This is a very hard thing," she said. "It's hard to lose your granddaughter and then to look at this for your son."

More troubles for the family of a missing girl.
Since Haleigh Cummings went missing in February of 2009, there has been an endless string of trouble for her family.

This time, the parents of the last person to see her have been arrested for allegedly trying to buy crack.

Police said Lisa and Hank Croslin Sr. bought the crack from an undercover this weekend.
They facing drug charges and tampering with evidence for trying to get rid of the drugs. Both are being held on a 5-thousand dollar bond.

They are the parents of Misty Croslin, the last person to see Haleigh alive before she vanished. Misty and Haleigh's father Ron are both in jail on drug charges unrelated to Haleigh's disappearance.

here is my take and latest opinion not that either is worth much...
they didn't target hank and lisa they targeted the house prob.. maybe the house came to their attention since hank and lisa frequent it but eeeh whatever... by the way $20 of coke is usually 2 small lines 91 for each of them) and if you are buying a 20 then you will soon be back for a second 20 this is what coke/crack heads do... they won't wait until they can come up with 100 and buy more for cheap they will nickel and dime their way thru the day buying 20 after 20 as the money comes in... so what are they doing where they might get a $20 bill later? hhhm illegal chit i'm sure...
and i wonder if they will use hank to testify against misty or poor daddy being in jail as leverage to get misty to talk... i think either one is useless and i have no clue why they would even try to get any of these liars to testify against each other since they are all liars and make for a weak witness testimony case... seems futile to me if they use tommy against misty, misty against tommy, lisa against tommy, lisa against misty, hank against misty, hank against tommy... either way you slice it the defense simply has to say well wasn't your story totally different in the beginning and the witness testimony is shot to chit. as far as ron testifying in unrelated drug charges i think some of you are misinterpreting that statement it does not mean charges that are not related to drugs as in the haleigh case it means drug charges that are unrelated to his drug charges ie misty's other ones... and why would he do that because as of now misty is supposedly pleaing no contest so it wouldn't be needed since there won't be a trial but if there is a trial if she changes it it just gives the state more leverage to make her not want a trial and stick to pleaing either guilty or no contest (it's all about saving money on all the drug charges) even if he didn't get a plea they would not have given him 15 years for each charge and if they did at least some of them would have been served concurrent like you get found guilty of 3 and get sentenced for 15 yrs each charge but only serve a total of 15 years because they let you count the 15 yrs towards all 3 charges (hope that makes sense) his plea doesn't really benefit him at all as far as i can see and i think he is just doing it because they asked him to and he wants to people to think maybe he can scare misty into confessing something about haleigh but i think ron knows whatever she knows already so this whole plea thing is nothing but bs to make ron look like the good guy and misty the bad guy and when she doesn't crack after being threatened with rons testimony against her on the drug charges it is not because she is truthful and cannot crack it is because she already knows that most of her sentence will be concurrent as well so in final either the da knows she already knows this as any lawyer worth his salt would have told their client and they are just trying to save money on trial and room and board or they are really that stupid and value any of these chitbags testimony. i'll bet the farm that no one gets sentenced to more then 30 yrs with or without testimony against them and maybe not more then 15 (take into account the time they have been there already and good behavior time even less then that...
haleigh is gone and we will most likely never find her at this point even if she is found in the next 5 yrs there def won't be any physical evidence to pin it on anyone and there might not even be enough dna evidence left at that point to confirm its definitely her at which point they will say (due to her small body) female (at best) child age 3-7 found has been there for 3-10 years and with the state of florida and there missing child rate that could be any number of people... i would love to see haleigh in a jaycee situation and come back and spit in her own families faces but at this point the light at the end of that tunnel has gone very dim for me... even after papa's beautiful sunshine face pic (the best and most hopeful one i've seen as of yet)

Police say they allegedly bought cocaine in Palatka

Another round of drug cases with ties to missing Haleigh Cummings, the 5-year-old who was reported missing from her father's Satsuma home in February 2009, is now working its way through the Putnam County court system.
On Friday night, Palatka police arrested Lisa Carmen Croslin, 40, and Hank Thomas Croslin Sr., 41, on charges of purchasing cocaine, tampering with evidence and violating their probation in earlier cases. The Croslins' daughter, Misty Croslin, was watching Haleigh the night the little girl disappeared.

According to Assistant Police Chief James Griffith, the Croslins were arrested Friday night during an undercover crack cocaine operation at a home at 809 Bronson St. in Palatka.

"They came up and bought drugs," Griffith said. "(Lisa) was driving and (Hank Sr.) was the passenger. He went inside and bought $20 worth of cocaine."

According to Griffith, the two were allowed to drive away and appeared to throw the cocaine out the window when they noticed police were trying to pull them over.
Both of the Croslins already were on felony probation, Lisa in connection with a forgery case, and Hank Sr. in connection with a case of shopping for doctors to get prescription drugs. They were being held Monday at the Putnam County jail. They were both denied bond on the violation of probation charges.

Previous undercover drug operations in Putnam and St. Johns counties have resulted in drug charges being filed against Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, 26; his ex-wife, Misty Croslin, 19; his cousin Hope Sykes, 19; Misty's brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr., 23; and Misty's friend Donna Brock, 44. They were all arrested and accused of selling prescription drugs.
Ronald Cummings tentatively reached a plea agreement with the state on drug-trafficking charges earlier this month and likely will be sentenced to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced in late August.

In April, Sykes pleaded no contest to a count of trafficking prescription narcotics and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, the mandatory minimum sentence.

Tommy Croslin also pleaded no contest and will be sentenced Aug. 6.

ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Jaw-dropping twist in the case of missing little Haleigh Cummings who disappeared on Misty Croslin`s watch. Now Misty`s parents have been arrested accused of buying crack cocaine from an undercover agent. With the whole family in jail on drug charges, will somebody finally reveal what happened to little Haleigh?

Tonight, mind boggling new misadventures in the Haleigh Cummings family drama: Misty Croslin`s parents have landed in the clink on drug charges. Police said Hank Croslin was busted in a cocaine sting Friday. Daughter, Misty and her brother, Tommy are already in jail on drug charges. Does the family that drug together stay together? In jail? It seems that way.

Misty`s ex and Haleigh`s dad, Ron Cummings also face drug charges. Ron`s cousin Hope Sykes is also serving a 15-year prison sentence for drugs. What the heck is going on here? This is outrageous.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Hank and Lisa Croslin also allegedly threw the drugs out of the car window when they saw the cops were closing in. That earned them an evidence-tampering charge.

Now, this isn`t the first time at the dance, folks. The happy couple are also accused of violating parole. I don`t think Misty is going to be turning to mommy and daddy for comfort anytime soon.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What a mess. Misty was babysitting little Haleigh the very night she vanished nearly a year and a half ago. Police have ruled this case a homicide but a body has never been found. Nobody has been charged.

Now that Misty and her whole darn family are behind bars, will Misty finally, finally, finally spill the beans about what happened the night Haleigh went missing?

I want to welcome back my fantastic expert panel but first, to investigative journalist Art Harris, who`s all over this case. Art, what is the very latest?

ART HARRIS, INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST: I can tell you that Hank and Lisa Croslin were cruising through a rough neighborhood in Palatka, Florida on Friday night looking for drugs, Jane. They pulled over to a drug house that they`re familiar with. Lisa is driving. Misty`s father gets out and goes and buys from an undercover cop. He did not know that this is a place they just busted and they were now playing dealer, selling to buyers who were driving by.

This is a frequent thing they do down, you know, in a lot of places for drug busts. And right now so we drive off, Hank`s got a rock of crack cocaine. And just down the road, they pull over. In the meantime, the mother is seeing a blue light in the back. She throws the rock of crack cocaine out the window. Police never find it. And they`re charged with possession, with buying cocaine, evidence tampering in the toss of the rock and probation violation for previous charges, Jane.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You know I heard somebody chuckling. And it would be funny because it`s so crazy and so self-destructive but except there`s a dead little girl at the heart of this. At least that`s what police think. They believe she was murdered, but we don`t know how or why or by whom yet.

Now, here`s my big issue -- are you ready to ride into dysfunction junction? All aboard, Croslin family.

It`s hard to believe the irresponsibility of Misty`s parents. Their kids are in jail facing the possibility of decades in prison. How do they respond to that? Let`s go get busted for drugs.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: All right. Why allegedly offer police and prosecutors even more leverage against your own children?

Got to go to Jim Werter who`s Tommy Croslin`s attorney. I mean this is -- these are the parents of your client. Is this a case of apples not falling far from the tree?

JIM WERTER, ATTORNEY FOR TOMMY CROSLIN: Well, Jane, you have to understand that this is generations of drug addiction in this family. And if you`re talking crack cocaine, you have to know that this is a horrendous drug. I`ve never seen -- in 30 years, I`ve never seen the addictive quality of this kind of substance. And it`s just terrible. And they were hoping that Tommy would be the one to break the cycle.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, I guess not. I guess not. Misty, Tommy, Ron and his cousin, Hope Sykes were all arrested last January in an undercover drug trafficking sting. Hope pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 15 years. Tommy pleaded no contest and he`s awaiting sentencing. Ron is reportedly close to a plea deal and will likely be sentenced to 15 years. Will Misty end up copping a plea too?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: So Mike Brooks, you know it all comes down to Misty sort of holding the bag while everybody else is copping a plea.

MIKE BROOKS, HLN LAW ENFORCEMENT ANALYST: So to speak.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes.

How does this work -- how does this work to put pressure on her to really tell the truth and nothing but the truth about what happened to Haleigh?

BROOKS: Well, you know, I thought maybe, Jane, maybe, there might have been some pressure when Tommy got locked up. You know, but with Hank Senior now, you know, I -- does he really know anything? Tommy should have been telling him on the phone, you know, put the pipe down, daddy. But do the Croslin parents know anything at all? Possibly not.

And I don`t think really it`s going to really put much pressure on Misty. Investigators say from the very beginning that she was a tough nut to crack. And this was months ago we heard about this.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: You know what? If we all sound speechless, it`s because we all are speechless.

BROOKS: It`s unbelievable.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: It`s really unbelievable every time you think you`ve heard the most outrageous aspect of this story, one that`s even more outrageous comes and takes its place.

Jeanne (ph) in Texas, your question or thought, ma`am?

JEANNE, TEXAS (via telephone):: I want to go back to a time when I heard the little boy say that the kid seen something on the couch in a trailer. And I wanted to know did the police ever check for DNA on the couch in Ron Cummings` trailer?

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Ok. Good question. Art Harris, remember the little boy --

HARRIS: Yes.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Tell us about that.

HARRIS: Junior said he saw a black man and the couch bouncing. Now, I know that police had a forensic psychologist interview the child and they have not been able to confirm it.

He was under the age Jane of a child witness who could be credible in court. He may have seen it but we don`t know. As far as DNA, they have not released any information about any matches, but then again, any DNA in that trailer, there is an alibi for, Jane because they all live there. They all visit there.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Now, I have another big issue tonight. Does all of this boil down to what the heck happened down by the river? It seems like there are several missing pieces to the Haleigh puzzle.

Whatever came of the river search, whatever came of it? Whatever came of the cement blocks police dragged out of the river? Did they yield any clues in this case? Grandma Flo Hollars, remember her? She says Cousin Joe Overstreet killed Haleigh and Tommy helped him dump her body in the river.

FLORA HOLLARS, MISTY CROSLIN`S GRANDMOTHER: She called me on Monday to let me know that Tommy and Joe had wrapped Misty -- I mean had wrapped Haleigh in a yellow rope and tied a brick to it and throwed her off the dock in the St. Johns River.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Levi page, whatever happened to down by the river?

LEVI PAGE, CRIME BLOGGER: Apparently the police didn`t believe anything that was told to them by the liars, Tommy Croslin and Misty Croslin who lied through their teeth since the beginning of the case. And they didn`t believe Tommy Croslin that Joe Overstreet was involved because if they did believe them, they wouldn`t have to harass him which they falsely claim the police did to him while he was in jail.

They don`t harass people that are telling them the truth and giving them information that would lead them to find a missing child.

And I disagree with what Mike Brooks just said. I think that what we`re going to see -- this will put pressure on Misty because her parents are the ones that have been giving her money to buy all of these little snacks in jail. They`ve been talking to her.

And now that`s not going to happen now. She`s not going to get any money from her parents to buy, you know, all these Doritos and stuff that she likes, she picked 20 pounds in jail. She`s not going to get those treats anymore. She`s not going to have her nightly conversations with them. I think this will put pressure on her.

BROOKS: I don`t think so.

LALAMA: Unbelievable. And there`s no bond, as we mentioned. And back to you, Art, to go to the second prong of this story, and that`s that we understand that Ronald Cummings, who is the father of little Haleigh, is just about to lock up a plea deal. Do you know anything about the details of that deal? And what does it mean to this case in the bigger picture?

HARRIS: Pat, I can tell you that they`re going back to court. He`s going back to Putnam County circuit court on August 20th to talk about this plea deal. But he`s not going to be able to get the finality or the number of years until after Misty`s sentence. That would be three days later, if she has a trial.

So right now, they have offered him 15 years on three counts, and they`re going to drop two counts of 25-year drug trafficking. So that`s what he faces if he cooperates, if he`s willing to testify against Misty. And the implication, Pat, is that he`s got to help them pressure her and anyone to get information on Haleigh. Even though law enforcement says the two cases are not related, they`re using everything they can to get information.

LALAMA: They`re probably looking for a quid pro quo -- You give me some stuff, we`ll give you some stuff back, correct?

HARRIS: Absolutely. But you know, they`re not bargaining with Ronald now because they want to see just what he`ll give them. In fact, his lawyer, Terry Shoemaker, telling me that this is going to guarantee his cooperation.


LALAMA: Right. Very good. Art Harris, back to you. You happen to know about some pressure being placed on family members behind bars.

HARRIS: Well, I can tell you that before Hank Croslin was arrested, he`s been calling me over the last two weeks. We`ve had long talks about - - about his long drug addiction, about the problems. He`s felt desperate. Anyway, he`d been visiting Tommy in jail and said that on one visit, law enforcement told him that he had better pressure him to give them more information because they did not find the body in the river where he said it had been dumped. And he was looking at possible -- possible lethal injection, that they were going to go for murder charges against him if he didn`t cough up some information. So Hank Croslin is now likely to get another visit from law enforcement, and you can expect Mom, too.

Croslin couple caught in Palatka drug sting

The parents of Misty Croslin, a key figure in the Haleigh Cummings missing child case, were arrested Friday for purchasing crack cocaine during an undercover drug bust.

Hank Croslin, 40, and Lisa Croslin, 41, of Palatka, were charged with the purchase of crack and tampering with evidence, Assistant Palatka Police Chief James Griffith said.

The tampering charge followed after the couple tried to throw the drugs out their car window when they were apprehended, Griffith said.

Three people at the house, at 809 Bronson St. in Palatka, were arrested for selling crack cocaine following a search warrant, Griffith said. Undercover officers then posed as dealers at the residence and awaited unsuspecting customers.

The Croslins were the first to arrive and were stopped and arrested by police a short distance away, he said.

They were also each on felony probation, and were therefore booked into the Putnam County Jail with no bond.

The couple's son, 23-year-old Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr., is already being held at the jail on a narcotics charge stemming from a monthlong undercover investigation last January. The family is being held in separate locations, Lt. Johnny Greenwood, spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, said Monday.

Misty Croslin, 18, is being held at the St. Johns County Jail on the same drug trafficking charges as her brother.

Ronald Cummings, the 26-year-old father of Haleigh Cummings, and his cousin Hope Sykes, 18, were also arrested in the narcotics investigation last January, and are being held at the Putnam County Jail.

Last week in a tentative plea deal, Cummings agreed to testify against Croslin, who was babysitting Haleigh the night his daughter disappeared.

Investigators have named Croslin a key to finding the missing child.

Other arrests in Friday's investigation include:

n Rodney Graham, 35, for possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n Koscina Dennis, 33, for possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n Deloris Major, 34, for possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n Eddie Brown, 63 of Palatka, for the purchase of cocaine.

n Diane White, 53, of Palatka, for purchase of cocaine and tampering with evidence.

n Leslie Mann, 44, of Daytona Beach, for possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence.

n Viola Major, 34, of Palatka, for an outstanding warrant, resisting an officer without violence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The grandparents of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings were arrested on charges of drug possession.

Hank Croslin Sr. and his wife, Lisa, were arrested Friday on suspicion of trying to buy crack cocaine from an undercover officer, authorities said.

Police said the couple drove to a house looking for the drugs, and they were then arrested a few blocks away.

A friend of the couple said officers lured them in.

The Croslins are being held at the Putnam County jail on just over $5,000 bond.

Haleigh disappeared from her home near Satsuma during the early-morning hours of Feb. 10, 2009, while Misty Croslin, her father's girlfriend at the time, was baby sitting.

Misty Croslin and Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, are currently in jail after being arrested during a drug sting.

So Ron has been negotiating a Plea Deal for a lighter sentence. Who is going to believe a word from him unless he is going to take a polygraph and answer all questions truefully from LE. The Croslin's are saying that they were "lured" in for that cocaine.  It's kind of hard for me to believe, that they were just a'sittin at home minding their own business, playing a game of Scrabble or something, when suddenly someone came along, twisted their arms, making them jump into the car and rush out to buy that cocaine.  Or even out for a nice evening drive or on their way to church, in the car 'someone' gave them no less, took a wrong turn and ended up in a scuzzy part of town, having to buy a rock of cocaine in exchange for directions back to the 'straight and narrow road'.  Yeah right.   ::MonkeyTongue::

 

I agree Mizjay, it's insulting and degrading to HaLeigh to call the Croslin's her 'grandparents'.  Geeeeez no excuse in the world for the media to have gotten that wrong!  IMO it's a sleazy ratings pull, using sweet HaLeigh all over again.

No - not for Lisa and Hank.  From the mouth of Lisa, Hank, Timmy and Chelsea, Hank and Lisa were on Magnolia Drive.  Timmy and Chelsea were at 108 Smith Lane, Crescent City, 32112.  They said Joe stayed with Lisa and Hank first.  Then, after the gun incident and other things (non-public at this time), Joe went to stay with Timmy and Chelsea on Smith Lane.  They said he went to Timmy's "on Tuesday, the seventh".  Clearly, Tuesday was not the 7th of February  .  If memory serves, there was a brief stay by Timmy and crew in Bunnell in April.  Hank and Lisa went to Tommy's on Tyler.  Hank and Lisa bounced around a lot - couldn't sell enough shit to pay rent.  They kept eating it all.  Credible middle-man crack cocaine supplier informed us that Lisa got cut off from the crack suppliers, cause she smoked half her inventory.  No one was willing to supply to her any more, the poor thing.  Hank was in the wheel chair for a while after the accident.  I used to see him all the time in the wheel chair in Tommy's neighborhood.  The blue van was parked and used by Tommy and Lin during my entire tenure, but was returned to Chelsea and Timmy's by FDLE mid-March.  Don't know if that helps, but that's what came out of their mouths.  Interesting to hear what comes out of their mouths vs. reality you come to know through more credible witnesses who would have no reason or motive to lie.

Biofuel biz is strong, thank you.  New fed, state and local regulations are making it a lucrative industry.  We’re now getting into a mega water separation technology company which should bring in some huge dollars.  Heck, maybe I’ll retire next year.  I’ll build a cozy cabin out there on that lake near Hideaway Cove – the prettiest place I’ve ever been.  My “getaway” spot in Putnam.  Catch bass all day.  I’ll invite you over for some fried fish and sweet tea.

The Croslins were typical drugged-up criminals.  I did not exhibit "red ass" for them (whatever the f*** that means).  Their present residence and criminal history speak for themselves.  That's a fact, not an observation.  Further, several members of the family were the last individuals to be with Haleigh, and have impeded the criminal investigation into that child’s homicide.  That is also fact, not an observation.  They have willfully engaged themselves in a drug infested lifestyle for nearly their entire adult lives, neglected their children when they were young, and provided a hideous excuse for a home life.   That is why they were deemed unfit to continue to care for Misty, the youngest of their children.  They failed to meet even the most basic of their obligations as parents.  We now see the end product – a family picnic in Putnam County’s finest, and so much more.
 
Quite frankly, I can't remember what Pirate sounded like.  LOL!  We exchanged some emails, and a few telephone calls, but I never met her.  However, you did, at lunch at Meemaws with Cobra.  Remember?  One of my back-woods investigators was sitting at the corner table right next to you guys.  Said you were "hot".   Wink   When I was there, not much went on in that town that I didn't know about.

Good afternoon all,

This will be my first time to post on Haliegh's thread but as noted before, I have been reading since early on. 

Who is this "checkmate" quoted a few posts back.  I went to the site and could not figure things out.

I come from a loooooong line of addicts.  For whatever reason, my generation and the one after mine, seems to be very heavy into the hard stuff.  Out of all of us, I ended up in child protective services and a niece a RN.  I have seen more than I ever wanted to know.
And out of those unwanted experiences, both professionally and personally, two thoughts keep going through my head;

1)  The victim becomes the victimizer;  What everyone sees in a helpless Haliegh, was not seen in those that are now adults ( really children in adult bodies).  I saw a show about forced sterilization;  there have been times I think it should be done.  I am so glad I broke free, but I am one out of six;  the odds were even less for the following generation.
Please know I would not give up the life of any child and I value those I am raising as a result of addicts and criminals, but the pain and devastation these people leave behind is untold.

2)  When someone (even a child) is a casualty of an addict or criminal, there is always rationalization on the part of the perp.  The victim is objectified;  there is no REAL guilt, just thoughts of survival.  The victim is out of site, out of mind;  at fault for some reason; or an event from the past and self survival is now the driving force.

I hope no one takes this post wrong;  I AM NOT excusing or condoning, just thinking on a life I worked so hard to escape.

Hello to Terri.  TY for sharing. And I am glad you were able to get yourself out of that cycle. I bet you understand the Croslin kids much better and likely have a different view of their situation than one who has never been in those shoes. I do feel for them, but at some point they need to realise what has put them were they are, then tell the truth, and try to do the right thing. It is never too late.

There were some very interesting postings going on over there. I have seen Checkmate posting somewhere, but cannot remember where. I have no idea who he/she is, but they seem to have quite a bit of good info. Gave me some new things to think about.

O' I do  hope I was not misunderstood.  I do think I understand the Croslin "gang" ::MonkeyHaHa::  But in no way do I excuse their life choices.  While it was not easy to get out, each of them had the same choices open to them.  As far as I am concerned, drugs and crime are the easy way...a more difficult life but an easier way than delayed gratification,  facing themselves and reality, etc. 

I was only trying to say Misty and Tommy were probably a Haleigh when they were younger and that at some point this has to stop.  If someone does not stop themselves, maybe the system should stop them for the sake of  others.  Their world view, and mindset will not change,  not significantly.  I think it will always be self survival, objectification of others, and making excuses for themselves.  I cannot imagine that they feel the emotional pain or guilt most of us would feel if knew of or had witnessed such a crime as what happened to Haleigh.  Where  most of us could not close our eyes, I think they sleep very well.

I cannot imagine what it will take for any of them to tell the truth.

Oh, nooo...I think I understood what you were saying and was in no way thinking you were defending them.
I agree, they could have decided long ago to break the cycle, but choose [as many do] the easy way.

You would think with all the problems and struggles each of the Croslin kids have been through, at least one could/would decide to try to get off that merry-go-round.
I can see yet another generation coming... in all their kids.

I also agree with you in that at some point there has to be an end, don't exactly know if I would like to give the 'system' that much power, but there needs to be some type of solution.

 ::MonkeyJnBox::  Hi ya Monkeys!  Been a bit since I've posted, I'm catching up....

1.  Tank tops and flip flops for court are acceptable attire here for gallery attendees.  Flip flops and shorts are also acceptable if called to court, shirt tucked in and cell phones off are the only requirement in criminal court.  (I'm a frequent family court attendee, our Judge never wears a robe...)  It's Florida, I guess...

2.  Believe it or not, I'm having a hard time with Misty's parents in jail.  Did they buy crack or cocaine?  There's a big difference according to Florida's law.  $20 of coke can be cooked into $40 of crack, easy.  Crack is a much heavyier sentence... not that it makes sense.  ? 

3.  Good ole boy "rules" here apply.  And it's hard to break your brain away from that when you try to get out of that.  You can't trust when you know what you know, even when you are no longer involved (or protected)....

4.  "keep your enemies closer"  is the way of life for some.  "if you are not with me, you are against me" is the way you have to live when you break away from the foolishness....  It's freaking hard!

I just wanted to share, take what you want...leave the rest.  I don't do drugs, prescription or otherwise but I'm raising my kids here, in the "lion's den" of prescription hell.  Like we needed easier access...I know more than I would like to.  I just wanted to comment, FL is weird.  LE on any level is not your friend, not in my experience anyway. 

I think of HaLeigh everyday.  I hate to say it but, I don't think she'll ever have justice.  And I don't think we will ever know.  That doesn't stop me from praying though.    None of this surprises me... :2brickwall:

This is what you do when you are innocent: First you tell the truth when LE asks you questions.  Then, you repeat the same story every time someone asks you questions about the event.  You are consistent, maybe a few minor details occur to you that did not occur to you before, but you tell the same story over and over again.

Why would you do something different?  I can only come up with 2 reasons, because they are guilty of something or because they are covering up for someone who is guilty.  (Maybe a third reason, you were doing something illegal that night that had nothing to do with the event, but if you told the truth, you would be in trouble).

Anyone else come up with another reason?

I am not calling sweet Haleigh "the event," only the tragedy that befell her that she is no longer with us.  I cannot imagine what anyone did to this baby.

Hi Nuna, I just jumped over here from BOC checking HC each morn as usual but I had just posted that the Good ol boy system is still alive and a good reason many of our children fall through the cracks.  All MHO only!!!  But it doesn't take a genious to figure this out.  I live in the N. FL area and we too experience the fallout of the Rx drug problem.  It's only the selling in my and surrounding counties as any doc who prescribes here that is tied to an overdose typically is arrested, tried and put away for ever.  Why isn't that happening down central and south FL?  Although if you have chronic pain you won't find a doc here to help.  Now that is sad.  Some are forced to travel for a doc that ARE legitimite.  Why are these docs allowed to dispense all these drugs?  I don't get it.  People always said I don't know how Ron and Misty lived not working.  Shoot, if a fam member gets a Rx for free on medicaid and then sells them for $20 or $30 dollars a pill x's 180, why work?  They made more then my hubby and me in a month.  So, so sad!  I've seen so many (I'm in home health) families suffering from addiction and the cancer/chronic pain pt's whose fam steals their needed meds.  You call HRS and nothing is done but run the family member off.  No help is ever provided. These docs and the one's who are selling these pill are just tearing FL down further.  Remember when we were known for the "Worlds most beautiful beaches"?  Now we are the state that prescribes 85% of all Oxycontin in the US.  This was stated on The Doctors a couple of days ago.  God bless the children of these addicts.  Please, we need help soon.

Bearlyhere, that is what a not guilty person does in a normal world.  In a corrupt world, you keep your mouth shut.  Period.  Your enemies are your friends and your friends are your enemies.  It's a lonely existence. 

I wholeheartedly agree with LE that Misty holds the key.  And I absolutely believe her when she whines, "I don't know...".  That's what you get when those 2 worlds collide.  Even when drugs aren't involved.  You can never trust anyone, not even yourself.

Amen, Sister!  It's so easy to be on medicaid, go to the ER (the usual story around here is, "I got kicked by my horse.") get an x-ray, and spend a day driving from clinic to clinic, gathering pills.  It's sick.  One day of "work" can put a month's worth of money in their pockets.  With extra pills for personal use.  Jax just busted 12 clinics yesterday, but of course, no one is arrested.  It's all about money, even for LE... ::MonkeyMad::

8:30 am hearings are usually just the attorneys and judge, in chambers.  The notice of filing-certificate of completion, is most likely the "children first" class both parents have to take to get divorced.  Judges will not sign off on a divorce without one.

Palatka - On July 30, 2010, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drug/Vice Unit with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team conducted a narcotics related search warrant at 519 North 8th Street, Palatka, Florida.  The search warrant resulted from an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics from inside residence. One individual, Travis Kemp (DOB: 10/01/1983) was arrested as a result of the search warrant.

Detectives located and seized marijuana, crack cocaine, and items used as drug paraphernalia during the search warrant.

A small child was also present at the residence during the time the search warrant was executed, and was immediately released to the custody of a family member. The Department of Children and Family Services was notified of the results of the search warrant and of the living conditions in which the child was residing.

Travis Kemp, DOB: 10/01/1983, was arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail for the following charges:

        * Possession of cannabis with intent to sell
        * Possession of cocaine with intent to sell
        * possession of drug paraphernalia
        * Maintaining a drug dwelling
        * Child abuse


He is currently being detained with a bond of $4,504.00.

A criminal investigation is continuing into the activities surrounding the illicit sales of narcotics at the residence and several other persons of interest.

James S. Werter  Tommy Croslin's sentencing date is now August 6 at 9:30 AM. Catching a lot of flack on Youtube. Tommy's only crime as related to Haleigh Cummings is that he could not come forward sooner because of his fear and spiraling drug use. But he has stepped up to the plate now. Hopefully, the guilty party will be charged soon.

 James S. Werter  Tommy Croslin pled to a reduced charge of Trespass ( First Degree Misdemeanor) from Grand Theft of a Firearm. He was given time served. An agreement was reached that the State could argue the alleged burglary charges at his sentencing hearing regarding his drug trafficking case but will not file those charges againts him. Two weak felony charges avoided.

Is this a new forum or something?  Went over there and they are discussing stuff we have ripped to shreds looking at monthsssssssssssssssss ago.  And saying things like (paraphrased) 'wow, we are really making headway in this'.   Ermmm.. should we tell em that they will only be going round in circles?  Or just let em find that out on their own?  It was just weird.  Kept checking the date at the top of their thread.  Like I was in a time warp or something.

Nope, not really new.  Just people that are interested in HaLeigh's case, wanting to keep HaLeigh's name out there and interest until justice is served.  We are in it for the long haul.

That's cool then.  It's not so bad rereading some of this stuff, watching em work it out.  Might find something totally missed back then.  Wouldn't that be something!   ::dogwag::  And yeppers, definitely in it for the long haul.  HaLeigh deserves no less!!

TC is trying to subpoena Det. Peggy Cone to testify for the defense at his sentencing hearing. Detective Cone is one of the lead investigators on the Haleigh case. IMO, Werter feels Cone's answers to certain questions might help the Judge to see that TC should get a light sentence because "if it wasn't for Haleigh he would not be in jail" on drug charges.

The State has made a Motion to quash the subpoena.

I have a feeling we might not see a sentence imposed on Friday after all, but yet another continuance.

A vigil to commemorate the 18 months Haleigh Cummings has been missing will be held next week in Welaka.

The paternal side of the family has organized the memorial, which will take place at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Annette Sykes, Haleigh's great-grandmother, said they are still holding onto hope that Haleigh will be found and brought home.

"It's just like an existence from one day to the next," Sykes said. "Is today the day, you know? Every day we pray that today is the day that she comes home."

A balloon release will also take place on Haleigh's seventh birthday Aug. 17.

Balloons provided by the family will be released at the Riverfront Park next to the clock tower in Palatka at 2:17 p.m.

Haleigh was born at 2:17 a.m., Sykes said.

"I just ask that people keep praying and helping us look for her, because we believe she is still alive," Sykes said. "We would be glad for anybody that would like to participate, and we thank everybody for all the prayers and anything that they've done to help us."

Haleigh was reported missing at 3:27 a.m. on Feb. 10, 2009.

No trace of the blonde kindergartner has been found despite massive searches by law enforcement officers and volunteers on land and water.

Haleigh's disappearance initially was described by authorities as a child-abduction case. At the conclusion of a three-day April search, Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy officially labeled it a homicide.

Then-17-year-old Misty Croslin was babysitting Haleigh the night she went missing.

Croslin, now 18, told deputies she put Haleigh to bed just after 8 p.m. and went to bed herself a couple hours later. Croslin said she awoke around 3 a.m. to use the bathroom when she noticed the kitchen light on, the door propped open with a cinder block and Haleigh gone.

Haleigh's father, 26-year-old Ronald Cummings, was returning from his night-shift job at PDM Bridge in Palatka when the child was reported missing.

Diving squads, ground searches, bloodhounds and helicopters scoured areas of the St. Johns River and Satsuma woods while door-to-door interviews were conducted and officers searched vehicles at roadblocks.

Two camps were set up in the neighborhood to house the maternal and paternal sides of Haleigh's family. For more than a month, tents remained aglow with hundreds of candles used in nightly vigils while national news media spotlighted the child's disappearance.

A month later, Croslin and Cummings married at Sykes' house in Welaka.

Authorities named Croslin the key to the investigation after her statements to investigators reportedly had numerous inconsistencies about what took place between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. the night Haleigh disappeared.

After seven months, Cummings divorced Croslin, citing public scrutiny.

In January, Cummings, Croslin, Hank Croslin Jr., Cummings' cousin Hope Sykes and a former search volunteer Donna Brock of Orlando were arrested following a monthlong narcotics investigation into the trafficking of prescription pills.

They remain in jail today.

Sykes said Cummings is not taking the separation from his daughter well.

"Those two days are going to be really hard for him," Sykes said. "With this coming up, he's already upset."

Another one bites the dusk.  I have heard of this one before.  But that would not be unusual for the area.  Is this what was meant when it was reported that there would be multiple arrest.

I know I have said it before but I feel as if I cannot say it enough.

My pleasure PML!  Hope we will get a step or two further in this case tomorrow with Tommy's sentencing, instead another hurry up and wait moment.

Heart, many thanks to you for all you do for HaLeigh!  Do you think that since there is a deafening silence now considering all the calls we were hearing before that LE is trying to cut everyone off and make them feel isolated and out of the limelight now?  I really think that RC won't be sentenced till all the rest are and then he will be let out and make MC and TC spill their guts with anger!!!

Croslin Pleaded No Contest To Drug Charges

PALATKA, Fla. -- One of the key figures in the Haleigh Cummings investigation is expected to be sentenced Friday morning on drug charges.

Hank Croslin Jr. pleaded no contest to two trafficking charges after being arrested in January during a drug sting operation. He was arrested in January, along with his sister, Misty Cummings, his ex-brother-in-law, Ronald Cummings, and two other people.

Croslin could be sentenced to from 3 to 30 years in prison on the charges.

Authorities said the drug charges the family members are facing are not related to Haleigh's disappearance. Ronald Cummings' 5-year-old daughter went missing from her Satsuma home in February 2009. Misty Cummings, briefly Ronald's wife, was last person known to have seen Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared.

The kindergartner's body has not been found, but the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said earlier this year it believe she was killed and consider the ongoing case a homicide investigation.
