Yes, there seems to be a provision for everything stated in their laws.  I think that this will prevent some activist judge from giving any light sentence as we sometimes see.

This and all the publicity the case has received.  I also wonder if the judge can impose the life sentence because of the multiple victims.  I think that would be best for this man as he seems too aggressive and should never be allowed near children again.  If I had my way, he would not be allowed to breathe again.   :?

Also note the law states more severe punishment for children under twelve being involved.  Most states I think have this provision.   Guess he picked the wrong age to start molesting, too bad!   :evil:

How about the rare and elusive JuJu Beans found only at movie theaters?  Not sure if I liked them or associated them with going to the movies.  Also that is not the correct name I am sure but only one I know for them.

And will bet most know what I am talking about.  Movie candy seemed different from what we could buy other places.

May 30 - The ARUBA sky is partly cloudy. Temperature is 84.2 degrees. Dew point is 77 degrees. Humidity is 79%. Wind is out of the east at 13.8 mph. Ground visibility is perfectly clear at 7 miles to horizon.  There is a quarter-moon in the waning phase.

May 30 – after 1:30 AM -  J2k may have driven to the vd Sloot home, driven to see the California Lighthouse

May 30 – 1:40 AM – Reportedly the Kalpoes drop Joran & Natalee at Marriott Beach

May 30 – ~1:40 AM - Allegedly, Joran & Natalee remove their shoes before walking up the beach to the fisherman’s huts.   They have sexual relations of some sort, unknown whether it is consensual or not.  Joran claims to not have condom with him.

May 30 – 1:50 AM – Kalpoes reportedly arrive at their home

May 30 – 2:00 AM – Deepak allegedly signs on to his computer and stays on computer until after 3 AM

May 30 – 2:40 AM - Joran allegedly calls Deepak for a ride home from the beach after walking to the fisherman’s huts for better reception.

May 30 – 2:30–3:00 AM – the gardener witness claims to have seen 3 boys in Deepak’s car on the dirt road by the pond at the Racquet Club.  Identifies Joran in front seat, Deepak in passenger seat, and unidentified male in rear seat.  Claims boys try to hide their faces.
 
May 30 – ~3:00 AM - Joran allegedly phones Deepak again to inform him he is ½ way home by walking.  Reportedly Joran has also claimed Deepak picked him up, which was later claimed to be Satish

May 30 - ~3:00 AM – Natalee reportedly made a phone call to William Morris, a fellow MBHS graduate in which a voice is heard to ask “Are you calling home?”  Call not heard until that afternoon on the return trip to the USA.

May 30 - ~3:00 AM – a maid at the Marriott allegedly hears a female scream, and witnesses 2 dark-skinned males forcing a woman into a white SUV

May 30 – Fisherman’s huts allegedly broken into

May 30 – post 3 AM – Rumors of ATM withdrawal(s) from PvdS’s bank account

May 30 - ~3:15 AM – Joran allegedly text messages Deepak to inform him he is now home.  Joran makes himself a snack, then surfs the computer for porn and sports scores. Joran emails or IM’s Deepak through the computer.  Deepak responds once. Joran sends another message.

May 30 - ~3:15 AM = Natalee reportedly made a phone call to her home in MB in which she says, “I don’t even know these guys.” Reportedly a screeching animal surmised to be the neighbor’s monkey is heard in the background.

May 30 @ ? - reportedly there is an 8½ minute phone call between Joran and Deepak

May 30 –3:22 AM - keycard used to access Natalee’s room

May 30 – ~ 6:30 AM - Paulus allegedly drives Joran to the bus-stop for school

May 30 – 2:45 PM – Joran’s school day ends and he is alleged to play tennis with Guido Wever and Koen Gottenbos in the afternoon.  Art Word claims the tennis match never happened.

May 30 - ~6PM – Private jet leaves Birmingham, AL for Aruba, carrying Beth, Jug, Jody Bearman & several others of the “Fabulous Seven”

May 30 - 8 PM – DEA agent Eric Williams meets with Paul Lilly, one of the chaperones for the MB group

May 30 - ~11 PM – Beth & Co arrive Aruba and are met at airport by Alberto Groeneveldt and Claudio Eldridge of Universal Aviation Aruba, who escort them around Aruba during the early days

May 30/31 until 1 AM – the group goes to CnC’s, then they meet Charles Croes & Gabriel Leo at a Valero gas station.  En route to the HI, CC detours to La Cabana seeking info, then to the Marriott Beach area where they encounter some teenagers who recognize the description of Deepak’s car and lead them to the vd Sloot home. The silver car is located within the property fence and license plate number is recorded.   Meanwhile, the Twitty group returns to the HI where Beth & Jug meet with the chaperone & DEA agent.  They view the security tape of the Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament showing Joran & the Twitty Twins, while their friends search the beach areas.  Reportedly, when C Croes describes the car to the teenagers, they call it Joran’s car.

May 31 – 2 AM – C Croes allegedly returns to the HI to inform the Twitty’s of the info.

May 31- ~2:30 AM - BHT group arrives at Noord police station and wait for police to accompany them to the vd Sloot home

May 31 – 3 AM – Paulus emerges from house and takes the group to the Wyndham looking for Joran.  Joran is allegedly gambling with Deepak & Guido Wever at the Radisson and Wyndham casinos that evening.

May 31 – until 5 AM -  Group returns to vd Sloot home & confrontation ensues in which Joran & Deepak claim they dropped Natalee at the HI at 2AM where she encounters a security guard after stumbling & hitting her head on the ground.  Joran allegedly gives details of his sexual encounter with Natalee.  Paulus allegedly says he picked Joran up from McDonalds at 4 AM, which he later changes to 11 PM.   At some point the group allegedly goes to the Holiday Inn to view the drop off site.  

May 31 – 10 AM Beth & Jug arrive at Noord police station to file missing person report, but are told it is not needed. Reportedly, the police referred to Natalee as “puta” and Beth & Jug were made to wait while Jacobs shaves and has “corn flakes”

May 31 – ~3 PM – J2K are questioned & released



JUNE 2005
June 1 – Dave Holloway & Paul Reynolds arrive on island after miscommunication and cancelled flight on May 31

June 1 – Anita & two younger sons (?) arrive back in Aruba from the NL

June 1 – Beth is allowed to give her first statement which has to be translated.  She reports that details have been changed in the translation.

June 2 – Beth reviews security footage of the HI in which Natalee never appeared on 5-30-05

June 2 - $10,000 reward for Natalee’s safe return

June 2 – Reportedly a $4,000 ransom was demanded by some people in a choller house. When the house was investigated that same evening, Natalee was not found.

June 3 - From Dave Holloway: "In late August the Diario received a recorded phone tip from a woman who said that a Police Officer named Halle took a body from the sand dunes prior to the search on June 3, 2005.
She said that Halle was a crooked cop and was friends with Paulus Van der sloot. I turned that tape over to the police and the Dutch."

June 3 – first American News Media crew on island was MSNBC, following the first correspondent to the island from the syndicated show, “a Current Affair.”

June 3 – Reportedly a former policeman follows a KIA sedan with a blonde woman matching Natalee’s description from an ATM location.  After following the car from house to house, the police are called.  The girl is brought to the police station, the Twittys are called in, but the woman turned out to be an American tourist.  Similarly it is later reported that Hubert Tiel follows another woman from house to house, before she leaves by helicopter.

June 5 - Johns & Jones arrested.

June 5 – Gerold Dompig reportedly replaced vd Straaten as lead investigator per Oduber’s orders.  Vd Straaten becomes lead investigator again within a few days, allegedly around the 10th.

June 6 – Island-wide search for Natalee Holloway. 500 gov't employees
show up for search of SouthEastern tip of island

June 7 – Matt Holloway & George Twitty arrive in Aruba

June 8 – Fourth and final day of final exams at ISA

June 8 - Judge J.S. Kuiperdal remands Johns & Jones in custody for an additional 8 days

June 9 – Oduber hugs Beth Twitty at a press conference

June 10 – Natalee’s loved ones rush to the lighthouse area after a police official tells the media that one of the three young men in custody admitted “something bad happened” and was leading police to the scene.

June 10 - Beth stated that her D.N.A. was requested by JANSSEN (BETH gave saliva and blood samples)

June 10 - Late that evening FOX News, AP and CNN reported that Dompig and Edward Croes stated that one of the arrested suspects had confessed, and police were being taken to a crime scene. DOMPIG also stated that one of the persons in custody had stated  "that something bad happened to NATALEE.”  Shortly after that statement became public, a press conference was held in which one senior government official made no reference to the Assistant Commissioner's statement, choosing rather, to say that the authorities were at a critical juncture in the investigations.

June 10 - Beth & Dave told by FBI that Natalee may no longer be alive because the 3 Main Suspects were “beginning to implicate each other, and they were not denying the crime, and they were finger-pointing at each other.”

June 10 - BETH phoned her mother and told her that Natalee was probably no longer alive.

June 10 - This weekend began scaling back of search for Natalee. ALE search teams venturing out only after credible tips & coast guard patrols offshore

June 10 - Oduber addresses Aruba that if something bad happened to Natalee it would be bad for the island long considered one of the safest CARIBBEAN OCEAN nations to visit, whose main industry is tourism.

June 10 – Aru-Bay video of what appears to be the recovery of a body is filmed.  It is later claimed to be that of a  7 year old illegal immigrant from Columbia, although the body is later reported to have been found a year earlier

June 11 - Rudy Croes states twice that one of the boys is talking and a body will be found soon.

June 11 - Oduber says there is blood in Deepak's car

June 11 – The radio stations in Aruba are also reporting that ARUBAN police are heading to recover NATALEE’s remains. First it was at the lighthouse, then it was Bubali Plas (shallow lake), then it’s Canashito, at the rock quarry.

June 11 or 12 – Julia Renfro hysterically notifies the Twittys that Natalee had been found dead and moved to the island’s courthouse.  Julia inserts herself to the Twittys’ overcrowded mini-van as they rush to the courthouse where they are met by a throng of television cameras.  The family finds the courthouse locked and apparently empty. Julia claimed her information came from a deputy information office in the justice department, but it was found that no official ever leaked the information.

June 11 –Vivian van der Biezen, spokeswoman for the Attorney General said, “The investigation (is) was at a very crucial point.”

June 11 – Video tape of strange events taking place near the lighthouse were uploaded to the internet.

June 11 – Public announcements regarding confession & body location are officially retracted

June 11 – Aru-Bay video of rock painting is filmed. Aru-Bay video of body recovery is uploaded to Internet.

June 11 - vd STRAATEN was asked by a DUTCH journalist if he had any hopes for a positive outcome? STRAATEN replied, “You always have to be hopeful, but I don’t believe anymore that we will find Natalee alive.” When asked why not, STRAATEN replied, “Because I know the details of the investigation and you don't!”

June 11 - Curacao criminal judge DICK van den BRINK came to Aruba & remanded J2K to be held for an additional 8 days

June 12 - Families asked to stop talking to the press

June 12 - Amalin Flanegin was added as second prosecutor after rumors that she would replace Jannsen

June 12 – An Amigoe article in the Aruban newspaper stated, “The father of one of the boys is a substitute judge. And every impression has to be prevented that the judge that is assigned is friends with the father of the boy.”

June 12 - Aru-Bay video of rock painting is uploaded to Internet

June 13 – Joran reportedly tells ALE that Deepak killed & buried Natalee near the huts.  Joran reportedly also claims that he was dropped at his home at 1:40.

June 13 - “FoxNews” RIVERA reported he just got off the phone with the Justice Minister RUDY CROES, and that CROES said there would be a “resolution to the case momentarily.”

June 13 – John & Jones were released. JONES was released after his wife and mother testified that JONES was home sick all day 5-29 and 5-30 and wife was continuously with JONES.

June 13 – The lawyer of suspect ABRAHAM JONES, CHRIS LeJUEZ stated the following:

Two suspects: Joran van der Sloot and Abraham Jones were/are detained in the same cellblock at the police department in Noord.  It is here that a crying suspect, Joran van der Sloot supposedly commented to another suspect, Abraham Jones the following: He is very preoccupied because he thinks that the other two Surinamese suspects might be lying and blaming him for the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
His new story is that they (with they, I mean the two other suspects) dropped him off at his home, with Natalee Holloway still in the car, further he and Natalee exchanged e-mail address and that was the last time he saw her. He also added that the story that he told the officials was orchestrated at his home, near the pool.

I try to read even if I don't have time to post and the death penalty was discussed for the perp in the case of the little girl in Louisiana.

Remember the case were the police were bringing the suspect back from out of state several years back but less than ten.  The father of the boy involved was pretending to be on the phone in a phone booth and when the perp walked by, he just stepped out and shot him in the head dead and dropped the gun, surrendered, etc..  Right on the news, video was played on TV over and over.  Was one of those little short phone booths and in one smooth move, he just turns and is within a few feet of the guy in handcuffs, etc.  Clean shot to the side of the head, end of perp.

That was in Louisiana and the father was only convicted of some sort of fire arms violation.  Temporary insanity at seeing the perp his son said did it.  

From what Cubbee said, Kaitlyn lived in Cajun area.  I have cousins who are Cajun and I don't think that guy will ever set foot in that area again no matter what.  . . . . and live.  Too bad the cops didn't accidentally let him loose there.   :evil:   Just kidding but I did have that thought when they arrested him, let him out on bail or even let him escape if he would and see what happens.  I know that is wrong and I really don't want that but did think what if about it.

We are a nation of law I have to keep reminding myself with these perps.

I have a friend whose son was molested after being invited in to the perps house to get paid for shoveling the driveway.  The perp was found three days later, in the garage, aphixiated.  Ruled suicide...but I believe it was suicide Aruba style.... :wink:

Maybe I am remembering wrong but I thought all kidnapping used to be a federal crime and was also punishable by death.  Am thinking of the Lindberg baby.  Did that guy they finally convicted receive death penalty?  

Now it is not federal unless, as you point out, they cross state lines.

But yes, crossing state lines would be a federal offense.  Maybe they are waiting until the State of Missouri gets through with him to bring their charges but they can for that as far as I know.

BTgirl these were one of my very favorites. My hubby did find them here.

Next door to us lives an extremely bright 8 year old. She does have siblings. So she like to come visit us so she gets all the attention. She also ask lots of questions.So this takes place last October.

 So I was telling her a story of when I was a child and during WW2 when there was no chocolate for us at home. The war ended and now chocolate was available once again. My daddy gave me a nickel to buy a valomilk candy bar. I went skipping out the door and up the sidewalk and dropped my nickel. I cried and cried. Daddy gave me another nickel. This time I walked and held tight to that nickel.

So the 8 year ol had never heard of Valomilk candy bars plus she was disturbed because it cost $1 now for a candy bar. So dh got us both valomilks a few weeks later when he was out shopping. I ate both of them . LOL so when he bought them again he hid them so I would have one to give to M when she came over. So she did finally get to taste them.

Don't know...but since they keep quoting Missouri law...I was thinking we needed to cross state lines to be federal.  I have no idea for sure.

I had a friend that when she started teaching told the kids they could not eat in class and they kept asking her about Annihilators.  She didn't know what they meant but it was those Now and Laters!  For some reason they thought those should be OK.  

Funny memories but also saw the peanut butter logs that were also a fav.  Ah, the little details of life that we forget until something reminds us of them again.

Oh, how I miss Justin Wilson on Saturdays.  Another tradition.  Wish I had some of your Jambalaya or some Shrimp Gumbo would hit the spot right about now.  All anyone has to do is say Cajun and I start to salivate.   :?

One time I went skiing in Colorado with these cousins I have and the ski instruction couldn't understand a word they said, it was so funny to watch as of course no snow where they lived and were beginners and needed lots of instruction.

We area  huge country with lots of variety among us.

We had 25 cent gas,Krispey Kremes by The Alabama movie thretre,and a Krystal.I ate snickers ,cokes and upper 10's I remember the candy and snacks of the day well.

I hated Sen Sen and did not care much for teaberry gum either. I also hated horehound candy.

 My daddy used to buy horehound candy. I think it was because none of us kids liked it so at least when he needed a sweet it would be there. LOL

I know I couldn't do it personally but there are those who certainly could.  I feel sick to my stomach every time I read of even a legal execution no matter how guilty the person is.  The taking of human life just goes against all I believe and yet I fully support the death penalty and am thankful that there are those who can do this representing the State.

It is such a sad commentary when even the State has to take a live because the person cannot be allowed among us and the family deserves justice.  Human beings are not meant to sink that low but they cannot be allowed to do certain things and not punished in this manner as doing otherwise seems to say what they did was not as bad as it was.

But, no, I personally could not do any of it even though I believe it is necessary and must be done.  I am thankful I am spared that as I just couldn't handle it personally.

But I do believe I could take a life in self defense and would do so if it came down to me or them.  I wouldn't hesitate.  And have taken two free courses in use of fire arms plus skeet shooting when very young.

I was thinking that I could flip the switch or be one of the 3 that pushes the plunger for the lethal injection.  I have no qualms about it.  The person being put to death can no longer harm another human.

Anna, I am not sure I could carry out the execution but am certainly glad there are people who can.

This is one of the reasons I get so upset when they bash Natalee's family members. I feel that Beth and Dave showed a lot of restraint and dignity considering what happened to their daughter. I hate to say what I would have done to the J2K, but it would not have been pretty.

Still thinking about this.  Devlin's family claims to know nothng of Shawn and they would know he was not really Devlin's son so I don;t think he would take him to anything to do with family.

But if they went out of state on any vacations or trips that involved crossing a state line, that would do it.  Many states have laws that are more harsh than federal ones so maybe best to keep it under Missouri.  Federal prisons tend to be nicer than state ones, too, at least around here they seem to be, thinking Maxwell Air Force base where federal prisoners play golf, etc.   :roll:

Where I live and in my line of work, a 302 is an involuntary commital to a mental health facility.

A NASA astronaut is charged with attacking her rival for another astronaut's attention early Monday at Orlando International Airport, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.

Lisa Marie Nowak drove from Texas to meet the 1 a.m. flight of a younger woman who had also been seeing the male astronaut Nowak pined for, according to Orlando police.

Nowak -- who was a mission specialist on a Discovery launch last summer -- was wearing a trench coat and wig and had a knife, BB pistol, rubber tubing and plastic bags, reports show. Once U.S. Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman arrived, Nowak followed her to the airport's Blue Lot for long-term parking, tried to get into Shipman's car and doused her with pepper spray, according to reports.

Nowak, 43, is charged with attempted kidnapping, battery, attempted vehicle burglary with battery and destruction of evidence. Police considered her such a danger that they requested she be held without bail in the Orange County Jail, reports show.

Nowak told police that she was "involved in a relationship with," Bill Oefelein another NASA astronaut, and categorized the relationship as "more than a working relationship but less than a romantic relationship," according to the charging affidavit.

Nowak told police that she found out Oefelein was involved with Shipman and planned a trip to Orlando to talk to Shipman about their relationships with Oefelein. She told police the BB gun "was going to be used to entice Ms. Shipman to talk with her," the affidavit said.

Shipman told police that when she arrived at the airport and was waiting for the airport satellite parking shuttle, she noticed a woman wearing a trench coat near the taxi stand. The woman boarded the bus after Shipman, according to police, and followed her to Shipman's car.

When Shipman got into her car, reports show, she heard "running footsteps" coming toward her. Nowak tried to open the car door, then claimed she needed a ride, or use of a cell phone. When Shipman rolled down her window a couple of inches, Nowak "sprayed some type of chemical spray into the vehicle," reports show.

Shipman is an engineer assigned to the 45th Launch Support Squadron at Patrick Air Force base, near the Kennedy Space Center. A 2002 graduate of Penn State University, she began working at Cape Canaveral in May, 2005, according to air base Public Affairs Officer Ken Warren.

Police said that along with the weapons and other items in Nowak's car, they found e-mails from Shipman to Oefelein, Mapquest directions from Houston to the Orlando airport, and diapers, which Nowak told police she used so she wouldn't have to stop on the drive.

Monday's arrest is the first-ever on felony charges for an active-duty astronaut, that the space agency was aware of, according to a spokesman.

"Her status as an astronaut with NASA is currently unchanged. I cannot speculate on what might happen beyond that," said James Hartsfield, a NASA spokesman at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, where Nowak and Oefelein work.

Nowak's biography shows she is a 1985 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis with a degree in aerospace engineering, and a former test pilot who has logged more than 1,500 hours of flight in at least 30 types of aircraft.

She joined the space program in 1996. Three members of her astronaut class died in the 2003 in-flight disintegration of Shuttle Columbia.

Married and a mother of three children, her interests include running, playing the piano and collecting African violets, according to her NASA biography.

She lived in a really small town in Virginia called Marion and I stayed with her for long jaunts of time before I was school age. There was a candy bar that I've never run into anywhere but there called 7up. It was one bar with seven different flavored sections. It was all covered in chocolate, but one bite would be coconut, another jelly, peanut, caramel, etc.

Anyone ever heard of it?

Monkeys, thanks so much for the trip down Memory Lane, I have enjoyed it.

Back to work as I still have several dogs to care for and tonight it bitterly cold here and they do NOT want to stay inside where it is warm especially the pair of Scotties that I know are still outside as they are barking it up!   :roll: I pay to heat their kennel warm as toast but they seem to think it is funny to evade me and stay out in the cold.  They will run and hide from me to do this and think being contrarians is the funniest thing they have ever seen.  I end up chasing them down in the dark and cold and blocking their doggie door usually.   :?

Yep, remember them all....the Orange Crush sometimes would be a surprise from Dad who would bring a case of mixed soft drinks home...always a treat...water & milk were beverages most days.

I best recall the penny candies....a quarter or a fifty cent piece could buy you a big back of candy hats, bubble gum, french nougats, Chunky...that little square chocolate bar with nuts & raisins..and I'm with Buckeye...Bonomo Turkish Taffy....the best.....(not so great for teeth though).  

Friends & I when down at the Jersey shore found a country store that had these candies and we'd buy them for the ride home and while sitting in traffic would share with others....great memories....

I also remember buying 50 cents worth of gas while in college...um...funds were low.. :lol:

That is all the time that is left to charge J2K.  Will they be charged with anything?  Can the higher charges be dropped and they be charged with perjury & obstruction of justice?  I'd be happy if they were convicted of the lesser charges for the meantime, until new information surfaced for the higher charges.  Perhaps if they were convicted of something, maybe somebody would actually come forward.

BT when I was on radiation and chemo, (it has been over a year now since) I could only keep down Cheese, fruit and Chocolate That would have been one thing that would have been a blessing to give up.

Not exactly true.  In 4 months they will be released as suspects but can be re detained and charged if any new evidence is found.

I hate to be pessimisstic, but I feel that the 4 months and 4 days will pass without any charges.  I know they could be re-detained if new evidence was found, but I sincerely doubt that would happen either.  Evidence in Aruba seems to get lost in the NetherWorld.

My jaw just about dropped to the floor when I read Rob's account of the astronaut arrest. That is UNHEARD OF! Those people are the most carefully screened individuals in the whole world and they don't get to be in those seats unless they are the most solid of professionals. I simply cannot believe that one of them would do such a thing... especially, over a man... she was already married, and I understood, quite happily... I remember her well, she was on the recent first flight after the Columbia accident. She struck me as being very impressive and professional (and NOT homely like all the other lady astronauts either LOL). Is this world OFF ITS ROCKER, or what?

The incident where the molester was shot by the victim's father happened right there in Baton Rouge.

I noticed the street where Kaitlin lived was named after her last name. That indicates that her family might be landowners and may be somewhat prominent- a big extended family. For the perp. To worry about.

I lived in Louisiana for about 2 1/3 years. I know the area there between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The people there never forget... anything... good or ill.

Not that I'm suggesting anything, but- I KNOW what the people there are like.

But of course, his next stop is Angola's Death Row, and that will take care of HIM.

Back, one last time before my descent into my pillow. In my opinion, what will finally blow this case wide open, will be, someone who just cannot hold in the truth, any longer. Who knows, when, this will be. But, I do feel that MANY in Aruba, know just what happened. What I am praying for, is that sooner or later, one of these people in the know, will be eaten alive by their own knowledge. The realization, that, what they know, could break this case wide open. Hopefully, some heavy heart, will want to speak the truth.

Yup! Those and another candy "bar" that I cannot remember the name.  :evil:  Also, candy cigs, burnt peanuts and a host of other candies. We only got candy on Fridays, Christmas, Easter and Holloween. We each got 10 cents every Friday and would decide as a group whether to go to a nearby store to buy penny candy (had toys for a dime, too!) or spend it on Mister Softee cones. Man, those were the days! My dad would either buy us all McDonald's or we'd have ham salad sandwiches with chips on Friday nights. Only got any pop on Fridays, too. Two brothers and our parents would get a whole bottle each, and my two sisters and I split one bottle. Saved the empties up to go to the movies. We went everywhere without adult supervision and were in no stranger danger. Justin has no idea the freedom that I had as a child. I won't even let him wait for the bus without me right there. Too risky. Devlin should be hung.

I just don't think ANYONE who really knows what happened, is ever going to crack.

These people are the type that literally can imagine an event away. They live in that bizarre alternative-reality realm where they are NEVER guilty of anything. I literally think that Joran has willed himself to forget Natalee and that night completely. He has nor reason in his mind to feel remore because in his own mind, it all never happened.

Or if he accepts that it DID happen it was all Natalee's fault.

I can't imagine but I hope if he does, that it's never against another US citizen. Odds are that he will, just look at the rap sheet of sexual predators, eventually I think most want to get caught for the thrill of sharing their exploits with others like chronicling their depravity.

I wish there was some way to sue Tacopina for lying on TV about Joran's character.  We know that Joran threw the Choller off the bridge, pushed some kid into a glass counter at the movies(?), killed his dog and blamed it on some other kid, and reportedly killed some kid accidentally on purpose.    :shock:  :shock:

They made Persian nut chocolate sundaes... real deep choc. and lots of nuts on white ice cream. Great taste. I have tried for years to make that choc. topping with various nuts. Not successful yet. It wasn't just our age, and memories that made us remember to taste.. it was that they used really good ingredients without all the fake stuff now.

At parties my mom would buy a really big can of the real hot fudge, heat it and pour over ice cream. Our nieghbor owned Swengle's ice cream company on the southside. Really great. Not they don't use the same ingredients and I can taste the difference.[/b]

Illegal dump Moko is burning since Friday morning

While the illegal dump is heavily smouldering, Atco is dumping.  The fire department told the owner to cover the fire with sand, but according to the neighbours, Atco was carrying very flammable pallet residue.

ORANJESTAD – Just what the neighbours were afraid of, the fire that started in the 20 meters deep pit of waste cannot be extinguished.  The fire department and the police cannot do anything other than monitor the fire.  They advised the owner on Saturday to take measures.  The stench and smoke is unbearable for the neighbours.  Several of them have already been evacuated to family or friends.  
On Friday evening around sunset, the fire department received reporting that there was fire on the illegal dump Monk.  At that time, the fire department could already smell that something was smouldering.  The fire caused considerable smoke developments and due to the hard wind, the fire could be smelled in big parts of Noord.  
It was already too dark when the fire department reached the site on Friday evening.  The fire could have been extinguished with a whole lot of water, but because it was too dark and the grounds around the pit was too dangerous for heavy equipment, the fire brigade returned to their station without being able to do anything.  
Check your firetrucks guys!  Those E-One trucks have big spotlights on them!
They didn’t think that the fire was an immediate danger to the buildings in the area and besides, they didn’t have enough water to really put the fire out.  The pit is deep and it contains about 20 meter of waste,which was smouldering.  Fire like this can take weeks before it is extinguished.  
The fire brigade came back on Saturday morning.  The rain and hard wind didn’t help any.  It only stirred up more smoke.  They ordered the owner to take measures and pour sand over the fire.  The owner promised to do this and would involve Atco, a permanent customer on this dump.
Surprisingly, instead of bringing sand, Atco came with three trucks full of pallet residue.  The drivers were ordered by their boss to empty the trucks.  They didn’t know more. Atco was not available for comments on Monday morning.
The situation was worse on Sunday.  Several neighbours that could no longer stand the smell went elsewhere; away from the smoke.  Also on Sunday did the fire department monitor the fire.  They did this with a helicopter.  The wisp of smoke was gigantic, but there was no danger for the neighbouring buildings.   On Monday morning the environmental police wasn’t even aware of problems on Monk.  They promised to get informed as soon as possible and figure out what legal steps can be taken against the owner and users of the illegal dump.  
The neighbours instituted legal proceedings against the owner to force him to take measures.  They also want to make the owner and users liable for all the consequences of this fire and smoke development.  The fire department didn’t determine how the air quality in the wisp of smoke is.

I am not a registered nurse or physician but I worked in a hospital lab for 15 years.  ALP were used to measure various things including liver function. I won't detail all of them here. Maybe to see how your liver is holding up from various meds.  Also a marker for many other variables.  Call your doctor and ask him.  Only he will be able to tell you if it is significant in your case or not.  

Sorry, for answering for Sunfreak and when she gets here she may well contradict all that I know. And that is okay too.

Thanks Peaches. My sis does live there and she's doing OK. She recently had a pain block in her forehead for her migraines which she suffers constantly from...She said it was the most painful thing she'd ever gone through. She's had many blocks in her neck, but this is the first time she's had it in her forehead...We're going over there in a few weekends to check out her new digs and let her enjoy the kiddies!!

A springer spaniel named Duchess ended up in frigid icy water in Colorado.  A passerby saw it and asked a guy standing there if he had called for help.  He said No, they called her and she didn't come.  In other words, it was the owner standing there watching her die because she didn't come when called.  The passerby called 911 and somehow the fire department got there before she died.   She's in a shelter now and is being visited by the passerby, not her family.  Just one more example of heartlessness in our world.   :cry:

WILLEMSTAD – The Public Prosecutor (OM) started a criminal investigation into the two members of the coastguard for culpable homicide as a result of the deadly accident with a female snorkler in the Vaersenbaai last November.    

Two of the four fleet operators that were on the ‘go fast’ are now being considered suspects.  They have already been interrogated by the National-detectives last week.  The two suspects are the woman T.R. and the man C.M., both in their early twenties.  One of them was the driver and the other was the skipper.  The two suspects are still working for the coastguard, but on land.  For the time being, they are not allowed to be on the water.  Whether they will be prosecuted depends on the result of the criminal investigation that follows the inquiry of the facts.  Several witnesses have already been heard, which means that a lot of facts are already set, but a criminal investigation is sill a different type of investigation, says press officer Giselle Veen-Jonkhout.  “These are suspects that also have rights, like to have a lawyer.”

That only two of the four crew members are considered suspects, has to do with the fact that at the time of the accident, the other two didn’t influence the navigation movements of the boat.    

Veen-Jonkhout couldn’t say how long the criminal investigation was going to take.  The Harbour- and Shipping Inspection and the Military Police, under the direction of the OM did the inquiry of the facts, which was wrapped up mid January.  

Last year on November 19th, the 53-year old Els Hermanus was killed, while snorkeling.  The boat of the coastguard was patrolling the area at very high speed. The woman that surfaced right at that moment was caught by the screw of the boat and killed instantly.  The accident caused much criticism on the boating behaviour of the coastguard patrols.  By now, the coastguard is trying to jazz up her image by working more efficient and subdued, no burly attitude, and where necessary, move bashfully in the water.  Right after the accident, friends of Els Hermanus came up against the press-photographers that were present.  They didn’t want them to take pictures of the body.  That’s when the discussion on placing pictures of victims of accidents in the media regenerated again and also the right on invasion of privacy and portrait.    http://www.amigoe.com/english/index.html

We all did some digging (pun intended) and I remember that fires at landfills are almost inevitable, especially if the fill is not properly regulated/treated. Spontaneous combustion for various reasons.

And I don't know this for a fact, but water may not be the best way to deal with that kind of fire.

Funny thing is TES wasn't even in Aruba when that fire started.  Yes I remember the discussions and how many small fires break out in landfills.

CBS has recently published this report, which is based on sales figures and spending of several businesses that are economically active.  From an analysis from 2000 to 2003 it appears that the sales figures in those years have increased and decreased with respectively 3,9 percent, 2,6 percent, - 3,7 percent en 3,9 percent.  The operational spending had only increased with respectively 7,1 percent, 7,3 percent, 1 percent en 4,2 portent.   47.1 Percent of the operational costs are for personnel costs.  With this publication, CBS contributes to the economic development of Aruba.  Businesses and instances can use the report for the synchronization of their activities.

Usually, on a pdf page, there is the icon of a dotted square at the top.  If you click that then start at the top of what you want....you can drag a box around what you want to copy.  Then just paste to a word document...I think...but....I don't teach computer classes.  :wink:

A funny story here. My computer crashed awhile back and I have been using DH. HIs is much newer than mine. Windows Xp as compared to Windows 98.

Just discovered in the last few days he did not have Adobe Acrobat installed on his. I went to the Adobe website to download it and it was 20 megabytes. I knew with this lousy phone modem it would take hours to download that is if I could stay online that long..

I thought I would just pick up a disc when I next went to town but decided I could not wait that long so went through my disc and found a disc for an older version and installed it. It works at least. Now I am thinking I should have checked with one of the geeks here in town. Surely someone has a newer version. OH well maybe next time.

Why would Sander need to speak with Freddy about his cell phone that had been stolen?  Was Freddy concerned about something?

Sander can't remember if he talked to Joran on 5/30, but knew his phone was stolen that day.   Then, remembers who he was will on 5/31, and the call to Freddy, etc.....this in addition to your question regarding why Freddy would be involved in the stolen phone...and Sander gives the statement almost 3 weeks after those dates.... :roll:  :roll:

It makes no sense why Sander is talking about Freddy to me.  He is asked about Joran and he answers about Freddy at Freddy's home I believe.  Is there something missing from these statements.

Sander is referring to Joran's house in this part of the statement.  I don't think he's talking about going to Freddy's home.

Odd that he says he knows he had no telephone contact with Joran on 5-30 b/c his cell phone was stolen.

Yet on 5-31, he had telephone contact with Freddy.  What phone did he use?  Did he get a new cell phone or did he speak to him from his home phone?  Remember, Sander says he didn't report his cell phone stolen.  If he had a cell phone on contract wouldn't he need to put his new cell phone on that contract or cancel the old one?  Or did he have a pay-as-you-go phone like Deepak?  Do pay-as-you-go phones have photo/internet capabilities?

Then on 6-1, Sander says he called Joran before he went to his house with the girls.  Hmmmm.....

His conversation with Freddy regarding his stolen phone sounds very suspicious.  It's as if he's reassuring Freddy that the phone is gone.  Something stinks about all this!!

Sander and Koen were part of Joran's group of tennis friends.  More than simply a younger brother.  Sander actually hung out with Joran and the rest of them.  Plus, we have been told that it was Koen that introduced Satish to Joran.  So Satish was friends with Koen and Sander before Joran was.  My guess is Koen and Sander went to the same school that Satish went to.

He was Janssen's *fireworks*. A reach, imo. The Dutch show was KJ's baby. She directed it, she picked out a non-Dutch Joran, she removed any reference to how Joran got home, and she neglected to mention anything about Joran's missing shoes. O/T just a quick drive by before I go to bed.  I wanted to tip my hat to Klaasend for this evenings deactivation...I agreed. Dear Klaas always looking out for all Monkeys.
I have my computer on all day and always reading to stay tuned into my Monkeys and any news about Natalee. (I do other stuff too, really I do.) Our utility bill was nearly $490 this month (due to all this snow and cold in CO.) My DH says it's because I keep my computer on all day reading SM!!!  :lol:

On Sanders cell phone: I have a question. Is there any way they could have traced the cell phone to it's location? Isn't there a chip within all our phones that the FBI or cell phone companies can trace a locate all cell phones in investigations such as this? Unless the phone was completely destroyed or tossed in the water? But then again, on their end unless it was destroyed beyond repair, couldn't they still trace the phones location? Not call it but trace the location some how?

Joran the night Natalee disappeared:  I believe Joran had plans later to go to CnCs but to pick up one of Natalee's friends(Don't remember which one that was sitting next to him, at the casino). He thought she was really pretty. I believe he might of attempted to place drugs in her drink or kidnap her instead of Natalee. But instead, Natalee approached him first so he did not have to work for it that night. IMO

Just logged back in to say thank you.  We are not frozen - sitting here enjoying 25 deg. Celsius.  Have seen the pics on TV of the cold in US and Canada.  Hope we do not have a winter ahead of us anything like that.

BB  Yep it is all good here and so pretty.  Logging is a hot potato, but is the source of a lot of employment and they do grow a lot of pine in plantations which save the old wood forests.  A lot political huffing and puffing about the whole thing, but they have to have something to wrangle over  :lol:

Well, I guess if you erase all on a chip it possibly could be lost. But, it's like chips in our computers. Even if I reformat or erase all on my pc wouldn't FBI or computer experts still be able to restore it from the memory stored on the hard drive? I would think the same with a cell phone. Maybe a little more difficult but doable?

Pilot fined

A pilot from Mexico was fined, because he ‘forgot’ to report to Customs that he was carrying 20.000 dollars in cash when he arrived in Aruba.

ORANJESTAD – The pilot of a private airplane coming from Cancun, Mexico was fined for not reporting carrying a huge amount of cash (20.000 dollars) with him when he arrived in Aruba.  

The pilot was caught when he was transferring suitcases to another airplane that was going to the Venezuelan Isla Margarita.  He was doing this without the authorization of the Customs Department.  The pilot said that a ground-handler had given him permission and that it was not necessary to inform the authorities.  When Customs asked him whether he had anything to declare, he said no.

While checking the suitcases, they turned out containing a huge amount of money.   Customs then decided to check both airplanes thoroughly.  The pilot then declared that he needed the money to pay airport fees and fuel.  He was allowed to leave after he had paid the 550 dollars fine.

The Custom Department announces that everybody that enters Aruba and carry with them more than 20.000 florins in cash has to declare that.  Anybody that does not comply with these rules will be punished with confiscation, imprisonment of maximum 4 years, or a maximum of 100.000 florins fine.

Florida got banned i have just learned,  and apparently I'm getting the blame and threatening emails from her now.

I just don't get her.  I even have tried to be nice and polite and the stuff she sent to me is really not nice.

I hope you are not taking that to heart.  Florida brought that on herself.  I was here yesterday when she made the fly-by comment.  Klaas called her out on it and gave her an opportunity to explain.  I know those e-mails must be aggrevating though. Some people feel the need to blame others for their own mistakes/shortcomings.

#1  The first thing I do with those types of emails is check out if they are FAKE.  This one was and I sent that info to the person who sent me the email.

#2  I NEVER respond to bulk emails.  When emails are sent to groups of people, then more groups of people, your own email and some personal information gets forwarded to people you don't even know.

#3  Most of the time when I receive a message that has been forwarded to many people I simply ignore it.  I don't want to take the chance of responding and having people I don't even know read my answer.

Beth Twitty, the mother of Natalee Holloway, will speak to Wake Forest students about spring break safety at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 in Pugh Auditorium.  The event is free and open to the public.

Holloway disappeared in May 2005 while on a senior graduation trip to Aruba.  Her disappearance generated a six-month national media sensation.  Holloway remains officially missing to this day, although Aruban authorities believe she is dead.  

Twitty is a special needs teacher who is committed to sharing her daughter’s story and educating high school and college students on personal safety.  She has vowed never to give up searching for her daughter or quit seeking justice for her.

In response to her daughter’s disappearance, Twitty established the International Safe Travels Foundation to educate and inform the public about safe international travel.  Her nationwide safety campaign, SAFE TRAVELS, is endorsed by the National Sheriffs’ Association and the National Association of School Resource Officers.

I think what SB is saying is to check them out before you forward. Truth or Fiction is a really great site to do this. Oops! I think SB is also saying do not forward them at all. If you check it out and the Amber alert is for real take the time to copy and paste just the info not the list of forwards.

I never forward anything . Learned my lesson long ago. I always copy and paste. I have also stopped sending to folks I get frowards from. I get tired of having my email addy passed on for the spammers.

If forwarding  EDIT the item to REMOVE all prior SENT TO/FROM  addresses

When sending or forwarding "Stuff"  use BCC  "Blind Carbon Copy"  inplace of the TO or CC address.

If you are sending to a group that needs to know and know each other (family, friends,  various groups you all belong to, etc.) that is a little different.
But still CUT out any address's that the Group may not be aware of ...

I still wonder where Joran gets all his money.  Paulus is a civil servant, although reportedly Oduber's administration is very well paid.  Still, the vdS's are raising three growing boys with hearty appetites.  Anita doesn't look like she misses any meals either.  The kids had IPODS, cell phones and who knows what else. Surely, Paulus doesn't give Joran an allowance of $250 a week.  We know that Joran dropped that much at the blackjack table that Sunday nite.  Then he went to CnC's & bought 3 yards whiskey & coke, plus drinks for that male friend, and the 151 shots.  Then he goes gambling again that next night, loses, and supposedly goes home to get more money.

Do they have money trees in Aruba?  More specifically, growing in the vdS compound?  Maybe that is why Paulus didn't want anybody searching his property.   :wink:

There is a thread running in the tripadvisors forums on Aruba titled ALERT on this subject. The girl is from Alabama and is 18 years old. There is a article at nbc13.com on the missing girl. It was in yesterdays paper so if you go to the site you need to do a word search using "Aruba" for this article to pop up.

The girl dissapeared from Carlos & Charlies Monday Night. She left with what she thought was a tourist from Holland. He ended up being a local drug dealer.
The FBI has the man in custody but they do not have the girl. They are hoping she is still on the island and has not been taken to Venezuela.

A local man from Aruba has also posted on the other thread that there has been NOTHING mentioned on a kidnapping in the local papers.

The family is asking for everyones prayers.

How important is Dilella in all of this miss-information campaign? He was so key that George (Jug) Twitty cc’d him when he sent his letter to Governor Bob Riley.

Tibro - if you highlight the word you want to make bigger or smaller, then click on tiny, small, normal, larger or huge it will work.

Same with "bold".  If you highlight the part you want bolded then click on the "B"...etc with everything.
