Yes Mrs. Art we are all praying for your swift recovery. Remember God got you through the last one and it was truly more serious. Tell your daughter as well as doing the updates to print off our prayers and thoughts when she can.

Nonesuch did that for her husband when he was so sick. She said he enjoyed reading them.

  Hopefully I am doing this right.

 First of all ...all i can say after reading all these posts..is WOW, what wonderful people you all are!! My Mom truly believes in the power of prayer as I do. Thank you all so much, it is so touching to me to see this out pouring of love for another from you all.

  Early Update is..she is now at her destination and settling in for the evening, resting up for tomorrow.  Her spirits seem fine, but she is very scared, but I also think mental exhaustion of the unknown is setting in which can be a good thing because by tomorrow she will just be happy to get it over with. Her operation is scheduled for around 7:45am. I may not hear anything until afternoon. I go home around three and return back to her house around 5-6, so please don't worry if you do not see a post from me until after that time. I would post from my own home, but I have gerbils running my computer and I highly doubt it would go here.

 If I heard right, my Dad is going to try to set up his laptop there, so she may be able to have these posts read to her.

 I guess that's all I can share right now with you all, as soon as I can I will post tomorrow with updates.

  Thank you all for your prayers and wonderful posts of encouragement and love. I am playing waiting by the phone now.

As soon as I have word I will let you all know. If all went as scheduled she should be in recovery or close to it or whatever they call that place they send you after an operation. I find the waiting the hardest part, I keep checking the phone to make sure it is working lol.

  Artcolley's daughter again,

 I just got a call from my Aunt, my Mom has pulled through the operation fine. She is in ICU and will be moved to a room I think tonight. They will be doing another MRI to make sure they got everything. Evidently when they got in the brain there wasn't any bleeding going on. Which I find curious considering what last week's angeogram (sp?) showed.

 I do not have very many details at this point, but the most important thing I know, and can share..she is fine  and went through it all like a trooper!

 When all calms down there I am hoping my stepdad will call so I can ask more questions.

 I will share whatever I find out.

 My stepdad called tonight I really do not know more than I did earlier.
He has left the hospital for the night for her to rest. They have her "morphed" up to ease the apparant discomfort in her head, well DUH, I would hurt too if I had a drill go through the back of my head.   :?
 
 The new news is however, she may be moved to a regular room tonight, and word is she "may" be discharged as early as Tuesday. I am not sure at this point where that is to..if it is to come home or to a rehab facility again, I hope home here, I basically know what needs doing for her rehab, the only thing I can't help with is if she is total dependant on someone to lift her up and out or in her wheelchair, I don't have the strength. If she has to go to rehab again, we are hoping for one local and not the one they sent her to the last time which drove her totally batty with how they treated her. My Mom is a very independant strong willed woman, (in the good way) they treated her like a baby and saw her independance as having "after brain surgery" issues. Me and my brother had to explain to them she has always been like that and she was not "acting out" lol sheesh!  I guess even those kind of people needed a job somewheres...I kept reminding her to remember who SHE is, no matter what they try to get her to think or to confuse her about. I think by the time she left there not only was she ready to go but they were ready for her to go too lol. She made many friends there too though in the short time she was there, it seemed the nurses with real brains knew you don't just lump everyone as a case number, they seemed to really appreciate my Mom's individuality. In turn she enjoyed them, that's how it should be when you are recovering.

 My relief is knowing that IF she has to go back there, at least she knows what to expect and how things work there.

 I rambled, I tend to do that when I have had a big stress taken off..kind of like shell shock I think lol.

 Thank YOU all SO much for her. I told my stepdad when he talks to her again tell her all the Monkeys send their love and prayers. You all have been a great comfort to me too. Thank you.

I too wish she had told me how to get here before that last surgery.
I didn't realize the Monkey Family she had, the last time though, was all a shock and unexpected, and I never thought to ask if there were people I should contact on the net.

 Luckily this time is different on many levels.  It is scarey when one you are use to seeing and get to know suddenly drops out of sight. I can only imagine what you all must have thought the last time..Oh my. :(

My husband had two major brain surgeries (anuerysms) two years ago and how I wish I had known the monkeys then.  It would have been wonderful to talk to them as it was such a stressful time with all the waiting and wondering.  I understand what you have been going through so an extra special hug for you.
By the way, when you become a monkey you will have to call yourself Artcolley's daughter  :lol:  You may even get to talk to your mother more often here than elsewhere  :wink:

Thank you so much Artcolley's daughter, I am so relieved to hear she's doing well even though it feels so challenging and confining to her. I see now the glowing comments she made to me about her children were all well deserved, I know you will help to make this next recuperation tolerable for her and keep her spirits up.

Please give her our love, our prayers, and tell her we're hoping she can view this recuperative period as her last hurdle, she has been through so much recently.

Art's daughter~ The monkeys are wondefully supportive. I would have lost my mind last December and early January if I had not had them to "talk to". My mother had emergency surgery and was in ICU for 1 1/2 weeks. It was the scariest thing I've ever gone through. The monkeys kept me going.

She has been in my thoughts & prayers from when she first announced she was going in for her surgery, this is the first time I've been able to be here to see how things went with the surgery and the post-op stuff as well. So glad the surgery went well and things seem to be going good for now.

I will continue to hold your mom up in prayers for complete physical healing as well as prayers for you and your dad for peace & strength and wisdom & guidance for the Drs. for her care now.

Hello All you wonderful Monkeys.. ArtColley's daughter here with another update.

 I sat and waited all day to hear something, needless-to-say I kind of was going nuts with my mind rushing from one thing to another and why hadn't I heard anything.

 Then the call came, my other Aunt, this time, thank God we have rellies along the way to pass things on.

 VERY uplifting news, my Mom is still in ICU, but that is only because there are no beds available elsewhere..which is fine. She is walking, my Aunt said she feels like dancing, I asked if it was with assistance but she didn't know, she was just relaying what my other Aunt had told her which is at the hospital with my stepDad. Her headaches, sore eye, swollen face are all better. She had been suffering with that since the last surgery. I am not sure if that means all the nerve damage is better too, nither does my Aunt. I do not know at this point if they did another MRI as I was told they may do yesterday, so I do not know what the findings were. I was told she is also cracking jokes, always a great sign in my book.

NOW here is the SUPER news, they are saying she may be home Monday now. WOOT!

Which is good timing because I set up an appointment with a company that will be delivering an electric hospital bed with a 5 inch memory foam mattress...OHhhh she will be sleeping on clouds!! Before she went in My stepdad had arranged for one to come, but we didn't know when. I am glad I opted for the earl;iest possible time...but shucks, I won't get to "test drive " it now lol.

If I hear more I will post here as soon as I can.

Honestly I can not express what all your posts mean to me and I am sure for my Mom. I can not Thank you enough.

You are so smart to get the memory bed, i didn't know they offer those ? I had to wrap Rick's in sheepskin or it was unbearable, those regular mattresses are like plastic rectangles with no support but those mesh springs beneath.

I see you have your mother's sense of humor too, a test drive?  :lol:

 I am so glad to hear she feels like dancing. I think that had a lot to do with her big fear on this surgery. I think she was afraid she was going to have to start all of her progress from the last one all over again.

I didn't know they did memory foam either on those, but I think my stepdad did some poking around to get it. He has a knack of getting things, we call him the mole lol He moles out anything someone is looking for. Or is it Ferret? Hmm ok I brain farted, but you all get what I'm saying I hope. :?

Yes it is great news, I was thinking that was rather fast too for that kind of surgery. I do wish my stepdad would call so I could ask specifics. It is sometimes hard playing telephone, sometimes there are miscommunications.

 I know her dogs will be over-thrilled to have her home early. They are all so attached to thier "MOM" . They like me too but I know why, I always come in with snacks , and I make sure her smallest gets to have "monkey time" That's what I call it when we play because of her stuffed monkey that sounds like one when she tosses it around lol.

 I will be sure to post more if I hear more.

Hi Daughter! Thank you for the updates, I've been checking here for them these last 2 days. Sounds like good news.

Your family needs to take care of yourselves too - eat and rest properly. Spending a lot of time in a hospital is a way to get sick.

Good Morning Monkeys,
ArtColley's Daughter here,

  When I got home last night my step dad called so I was able to ask specifics.

 They did do an angeogram (sp?)/ MRI the night of the surgery, they found they got EVERYTHING! Nothing is left to be worrisome in the future! :)

 The other thing I wanted clarified has been..she is walking WITHOUT assistance!!!! :)

 I also was a bit curious as to what they were calling a bleeder BEFORE that operation but found nothing when they went in. Well that has been explained, evidently I wasn't the only one that was a bit confused about that.
  What she had was not a bleeder, it was a leaker, hmmm to the layman I guess that would sound like the same thing, if you have blood coming where it shouldn't be that's a bleeder, right?? !  But the doctor clarified that to my stepdad. Leaker is just that, seeping but not actively bleeding, which I gather bleeders are worse, which she had the first time. Hence the major discomfort, causing pressure, etc.
 I am sure when my Mom starts posting here she can make even more sense of it all, I am still a bit sketchy on it all, this whole playing telephone and all, nothing is totally sunk in until I can sit and talk about it.

From the sounds of it this operation cleared up everything that was still a discomfort from the first, she's sharp as a pin now, not fading from exhaustion, which she was tiring way too easy before, just walking from one end of the house to the other or going for a drive wore her out ever since the last one, that seems gone..unless she is in a eurphoric state right now? Oh I asked if she was still being "morphed" up..NOPE , my stepdad said even a nurse came in while he was there and said to her "it's been 6 hours since your last pain reliever, do need any?" My Mom said, "Nope, my headache is gone."

Seems this operation was the miracle she needed to end all the discomfort, unsureness, uneasiness, etc. Maybe now she can be comfortable in her own body again without fearing it will let out on her at anytime. Must been a terrible trauma knowing something was going on in you like a time bomb waiting to be set off. I know for the last week that's all she thought about, eating away at her. That's what I meant by the time she got there she was probably mentally exhausted and just happy for them to get it done with.

As a family member and watching her go through that was the worse thing ever, you feel helpless, you want to make it go away but you can't, you tell them they will be ok, but they are so scared they can't see past the fears. All you can do is pray and have patience. One thing I told her which I always believed, God does not hand you anything he knows you can not handle. I always found comfort and strength in believing that. I can cry now, for thankfulness, I couldn't before, I didn't let myself.

I rambled yet again, I am still on my first cuppa. Hard to bleieve, but I truely am not a chatter, lol yet I posted more here than I have in years. I also am not a terribly "gushy Mushy " person, yet I see I have been. You have a wonderfully comforting atmosphere here. Though I have not addressed each of your posts individualy, I am ever so Thankful you all have been here with your prayers, wishes, and love.

You aren't being gushy, I think  we all feel as you do when someone so precious as a parent's life or well-being is threatened ! We know how much you love her, it's lovely to see.

I'm just so glad to hear this and so glad to know now she will find greater pleasure and joy in each day, in enjoying her family and her collies, and in her art !

I know that has been one of her major concerns that she would have to be rehabbed the same way she was before. Plus all the stuff she has had to endure since. I am continuing to pray for your entire family. God is good.

GREAT news, I was able to talk to her, we just got off the phone. She is doing SUPER! and sounds so GOOD.

She said she had a chance to read the posts here, but couldn't post because of lack of speed or something like that. She thinks you all are so wonderful and can't wait to post for herself so she can tell you.

The word is she still may be coming home tomorry, but because of the last time and being told many dfferent things by different people, she won't believe it until a docotor actually tells her she can be discharged. I can't blame her there, it was a total mess the last time as far as miscommunications among staff.

 It was wonderful hearing her voice and she telling me herself how she feels. :)

 SOooo everyone wave and smile because ArtColley can see these posts.

 Thank you all again so much, I will update you if I hear anything more. I am hoping the next update I give you will be her actual discharge date for positive. :)

The news of ArtColley's recovery just keeps on getting better every bulletin.  Walking unaided and no headaches!  No wonder she feels like dancing.  She will love the dancing collie Klaas has designed for her.  
AC's Daughter - Yes the relief is overwhelming.  You do not realise how worried and tense you have been until you know all is well and then you have to let go or burst. Thank you for the newsy updates - it makes us feel included, and it is easier to talk here than in a lot of other situations, as the monkeys are so kind and will listen to you and they also give very good advice.
We know that you are addressing all of us when you post and there would be other monkeys who are also concerned who do not always post but we all needed to know your mother is improving.

Hello ACDC. So happy to hear good news each time I check in.  When your mom gets home hug her for me.  I made her Monkey Nana Muffins today and they were wonderful...here have one.  That is how I first got to know your sweet mother.  So I am enjoying some muffins and thinking of you both.

 I just got off the phone from talking with my Mom, she was having a yummy brekky, so I will call back in 15 minutes. Also her physical therapist came in.

Here's the news I was waiting for however...SHE Positively, ABSOLUTELY, without a question, no ands ifs or buts about it, will BE DISCHARGED TODAY!!

 Last night she said she had to leave today because she wanted to avoid that Nor'Easter heading our way, otherwise I think she feared being stranded there. That's what she says..I however know the REAL reason..she misses her dogs, dove valentine's candies, and her own coffee! lol

 Well, if she is coming home today I better straighten up from all the partying me and the pooches were doing during her absence, I asked the oldest male dog to clean up all the empties (dog biscuit boxes) but he is a bit lazy like most males getting a free ride lol. Funny, I guess we never outgrow that surge of urgency that everything better be "just so" when we hear our parents are coming home lol.

 I will post when I have another update

 I just got off the phone again to her. She is being discharged in 1/2 hour to 45 minutes !!! It's a 4 hour ride from there to here. So that should put her here around shortly after her new bed arrives Woot!!

 Ok, time for me to go make sure the bedding is ready and floors are clear from any obstacles, like dog toys we carelessly left everywhere ! Hehehe.

ArtColley, you have certainly been in my prayers. We have all been blessed with the news of your amazing healing...Your daughter has been so steadfast in her reports to us and we are all so thrilled that things have gone well for you!! Will continue to pray for you and know you will probably be worn out after your long journey home. Enjoy the comfy bed (wish I coulda given it a test drive!! A memory foam bed is next on my list!!)...You have endured so much and I am so glad you have a loving, doting family who cares so much for you--that will help your continued healing. Can't wait to see your posts again...We missed you so much during your recent hiatus and are so glad to have you back!

 Well, the bed has arrived..Ooooh it is sooo comfy!! Yes, I did test drive it long enough for the rest of my show, in fact me and her cat tried it out, he likes it....up we went...down we went..wheeeeeeee!!!  lol.

 Now I just wait for the dogs to sound the alarm that thier Mommy and Daddy are home.

 Hopefully she will be able to post today, unless she is worn out, I can only imagine what a trip like that can be like right after leaving the hospital, might not be long in hours, but exhausting sitting in one position for so long after that ordeal..bebopping along the bumps in the road, ick! Makes me tired just thinking of it..think I will go have a lay down in that bed before she comes home *snickering* Now where is that cat??

I am so antsy waiting, I already cleaned what I could, I hung one of her more colorful paintings right in eye view of her coming in the door, even if it doesn't stay there I wanted her to see something warm, colorful and cheery upon entering into her home.

Ok, time for me to get the cat and just double check that the bed works good, can never be tooo sure of these things, doncha know?  :wink:

If I remember correctly the original painting to that image is actually only 2" by 3", she amazes me with detail so tiny.

I put over her fireplace a HUGE painting of Red Poppies with a warm yellow background she was working on. Or maybe it IS finished..(oops, sorry if you read this Mom lol.) Either way I LOVE it the way it is. *taking foot out of mouth*

I can't stay long right now as I am awaiting my Chisese food to arrive and just woke up from a bit of a nap.That 4 hour trip was so tiring..I did stop by my sisters for lunch about half way here, though, and that took some  pressure off!!!

First of all, THANK YOU so much for all your prayers...I must let you know that when you do have your "come to Jesus" moment, those prayers DO help. I felt every one of them and can never ever thank you all enough.

Also, Thank you so much for welcoming my daughter so lovingly into your fold!  I think she is a MOnkey lifer now! Totally addicted!!!!!
Seriously, she found such solace here and comfort. She just sat and cried over all the kindness she found here. You guys are all so very very special~!

THe surgery went well. I am supposedly all healed.  I am totally pain free since this second surgery which is odd. I think I've been carrying this thing without knowing (acutely) for over a year. Once this surgery was completed, I was immediately up and walking with no "slant", I was totally articulate again, no depression, it was like a miracle.  Even my facial expression changed..looks like I had a face lift and took 10 years off instantly! Weird.  Mind you, last week I cried all week. I was told that I could have a stroke, be in a coma or die. Those were the choices...Or of course, heal. Well, I healed!  I feel like I have a second lease on life. (third, actually!)
But,. I did dwell on all the prayers coming forth and I KNOW that gave me my miracle.

Hope I am making sense. I am just giddy over this, but know I do have to rest and can't go play soccer this evening. (wouldn't be prudent, doncha know!)

I was told that the actual first bleed was one that most people do not leave the hospital alive and that that in itself was a miracle.
I wonder how many miracles one gets in a lifetime?

Anyway, I am going to go for awhile, I wanted to check in with you all and let you know I love you all so very much!

Hello All...ArtColley's Daughter here...but with my own ID WOOT!! Thank you :)

 I wanted with my own ID to thank EVERY single one of you for EVERYTHING you all did for us. I can not name you all individually, my memory isn't good and this comp is WAY slower than my Mom's ( i keep getting errors lol). I will try not to get too mushy gushy :)
 
But I want to thank all of you that posted and all of you who lurked and prayed. There is power of prayer and you all proved it. My Mom is out of the hospital and recovery much faster than I could ever had hoped or imagined possible for what she had done.

 I can not even begin to express what all your presence and support did for me.

The last time she went through the surgery I stayed at her house a lot like this time, but I was alone living from phone call to phone call with any word, everyone was down in Boston, I had my husband and children when I went home at night, but I couldn't fully express what I felt in fear of upsetting the kids, so during the day I sat in nervousness and fright, then at night I played "everything is fine". I was a mess with no support system for me except for phone calls but even then I felt alone because you don't always say what you are feeling over a phone when you are the one trying to hold yourself together in order to get things done or taken care of, needless to say I found it hard to sleep that even my docotor put me on xanax..which I never did take and still haven't. I have a hard time submitting to meds. This is not a self pity post, I am just letting you all know the difference you truely all made. :)

This time though..THANK GOD for YOU all !!! I didn't feel alone at all, I felt I had a whole bunch of wonderful monkeys holding my hands through it all. All praying, lending thier well wishes, thier thoughts only for the best. Such warm wonderful people shining through even a computer. You all deserve a HUGE hug and a very heartfelt THANK YOU!

 Thank you ALL , those seen and those not seen, THANK YOU! Thank you for all you have done for me and my Mom and Family through the loving kindness of all your hearts.
