Casey Defense Request To Seal Jail Records Denied

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Casey Anthony returned to court Friday afternoon. Casey's legal team was in court to try for a third time to seal all public records pertaining to her stay at the Orange County jail, including her phone calls and visits, as well as her commissary purchases, and to try to get more taxpayer money for its defense.

However, Chief Judge Belvin Perry denied the defense's request to seal her jail records.
Casey walked into the courtroom shortly before 1:30pm, with her hair pulled back in a bun and wearing a green blouse. Casey looked thinner, and at times seemed like she was going to cry.

Casey wiped her eyes and nose as she sat down along side her attorneys, Jose Baez and Cheney Mason. Cindy and George Anthony were also in court.

Aong with the request to seal records Casey's lawyer were in court because they say they don't have enough money to defend her. Her defense lawyers have exceeded limits already set by the judge, and now they're trying to dig deeper into the pockets of the taxpayers after spending more than $200,000 of Casey's money, which she got for selling photographs and videos of Caylee Anthony.

"When you start talking about taxpayer money, that's a different story," Judge Perry said to Baez.

Casey's defense team says it needs more than the $40,000 in tax money it's spent already on her case. It wants thousands more, even though it spent $275,000 of private funds in the first year and a half.

The state commission, which oversees its spending, has already balked at some of the recent requests from Casey's new death penalty expert, such as travel expenses and more money for Casey's mitigation specialist.
The defense is also asking for thousands more for its private investigator, who has been accused of harassing EquuSearch witnesses and trying to change their testimony about the flood condition of the woods where Caylee's remains were later found.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer says the defense team's focus seems to be off and some of its reasons for wanting more tax money do not seem reasonable.

From the little that I was observing from George and Cindy, it has finally hit home that they are going down, and they will be the cause of why Casey is the way Casey is. Whatever has and is being dug up, I have a feeling is going to be very interesting. And just knowing that the Anthonys don't answer her phone calls, they know also what is all being dug up. Speaking of safe landings, two US military fighting jets escorted and plane from Dubai, Yemen (Emirates airline) with suspicion device.   NY & FBI on the way to JFK airport, long inspection will follow.   Also, security being conducted at Newark airport (NJ, my home state) probably LaGuardia as well.

Also, there are 3 shootings in the DC area at the Pentagon & another military facility that have a pattern.    Another man with claims to terrorists was recently arrested in Hawaii a few days ago.   White House is claiming they heard about this plot last night.    Personally, the recent activity doesnt seem to be a coincidence that it is surrounding our upcoming election day, to what end terrorists think that has an impact seems ridiculous.

We all must have missed the beginning of this breaking news & frankly Im ticked Bozo wasted our time with his bunk & bull - our security in this country trumps his antics, IMHO.

I am a respector of all people and would never mean to offend, but I just want to say this prayer for the ones who know what this case is really about -- Caylee.

Casey Anthony’s defense lawyers went to court Friday to try and get more money and more privacy.

Anthony's defense team wanted to get jail records sealed and out of the public’s hands.

Judge Belvin Perry denied the request, but did leave the door open for a future ruling.

In a second request, Anthony's attorneys asked for more money for private investigators, court document copies and travel expenses.

The defense argued they need the money to give Anthony a fair trial.

Perry did award the defense some additional money, but said he wouldn't write a blank check.

"Taxpayer funds do not allow you to go on fishing expeditions,” Perry said. “It must be for a particular need not for drilling and hoping that you are going to find oil when there is no signs that there is oil there."

Perry did award the defense team around $3,000 for legal expenses. He said the public would not pay for travel expenses.

I think LDB mentioned her in the motion about extending the State's depos.  She said she was cooperative, and LDB had spoken with her attorney and they were going to do the depo the week of Nov. 14th.  (I think that was the date.)  I was a little disappointed that they didn't bring up the PI Lyons intimidation.  But perhaps they are waiting until they have the results of LE enforcement's investigation.  (They are investigating it, aren't they?)
I have no idea what the Jar's role is now.  Other than to be incomprehensible and arrogant, that is.

And you can't tell me that CA and GA haven't been putting in their 2 cents worth to Ma and Pa Anthony and what they should and shouldn't do either.

Hi Monkeys--Thanks to all for the updates.  I was busy most of the day and then had a telephone call which lasted about two hours.

I seem to recall him saying he was denying the motion for reconsideration "at this time," whatever that means.

IF the Judge's intention was to "leave the door open" as stated in the article, one possible reason for getting that wording in the record might be for appellate protection; the Bent ruling Baez had cited (incorrectly IMO) is still under review.  Just a wild guess, I really have no idea.

After watching JP during a trial on IS, I don't believe he plays to the camera at all. MOO  I feel he has everyones best interest at heart, totally follows the law, and runs his court room accordingly. He did tell the defense members to "hold on" a couple of times as they were rudely talking over him. He called Baez out several times today, as he should have.  I'm no expert on any of this trial stuff, by any means, but I have faith in JP and he will see that Casey gets a fair trial, at least from what he has control over. Again, JMO.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- In a status hearing in the Casey Anthony case Friday, Judge Belvin Perry demanded to know why the defense team wanted more taxpayer money and what they plan to do with it.

George and Cindy Anthony sat two rows behind Casey during the hearing and often appeared tense. Anthony came in to court looking as if she'd been crying.

Judge Belvin Perry adopted a hard line in the face of extra funding requests from Anthony's defense. He granted Jose Baez just 60 of the 300 extra hours requested to fund the defense team's investigator.

"I am not going to write an open check. I am just not," Perry told the defense team in court.

Cheney Mason said they're not fishing, but rather making a serious effort to reach material Texas Equusearch witnesses who have been told not to talk to them.

Meanwhile, the defense team's new death penalty phase attorney Ann Finnell said her requests for expenses were not excessive. Finnell addressed her expected $20,000 budget, which members of the Justice Administrative Commission said was expensive.

"In trying to develop a budget, I'm trying to come up with a worst case scenario," Finnell said.

Judge Belvin Perry denied the defense's motion to seal jailhouse visitation log and commissary records.

An Orange County Corrections representative spoke on behalf of the jail regarding the defense's privacy motions. The representative said there is "no legal basis" to exempt the logs and records from public record.

Perry approved $2,500 for a psychiatrist to conduct pre-trial evaluations.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry meant business today during a status hearing in the Casey Anthony case. The judge’s determined style was the focus of television coverage this evening.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. The defense has spent more than $300,000 on the case, but is seeking more for indigent client Anthony. (WFTV-Ch. 9 decorated its report with $300,000 in big type.) Anthony is scheduled to go on trial in May.

“He was really setting a tone, and it was a hard line,” WESH-Ch. 2’s Bob Kealing reported.  “In many cases, the judge would demand to know what the defense team had done with money he already budgeted and what they would do with any more he might give them.”

Kealing said that defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason were not commenting after court today.

WFTV-Ch. 9’s Kathi Belich observed, “The judge does not seem impressed with how it [the defense] has used some of the tax money so far.”

The defense sought 300 additional hours for its private investigator, but Perry OK’d just 60 hours.

“The judge got conflicting answers about how many authorized hours of work  already have been done as the defense asks for more,” Belich said.
WOFL-Ch. 35’s Shannon Butler weighed in: “Perry is a judge, but it also seems he’s a pretty good accountant.”

In another oft-played clip, Perry told Baez, “Taxpayers’ funds do not allow you to go on fishing expeditions. It must be for a particularized need, not in drilling hoping that you’ll find oil.”

The stations noted that the defense had lost its third bid to seal Anthony’s jail records, such as commissary purchases and the visitors log.

Anthony’s look also drew scrutiny. WOFL anchor Bob Frier highlighted the “hair slicked back.” Kealing said that “Anthony herself came to court looking as if she had been crying.” And Belich noted that Anthony wasn’t in shackles.

Orlando defense attorney Diana Tennis, who offers analysis for WOFL, theorized that the defense is “telling her [Anthony] to draw as little attention to herself as possible. Don’t do the long, pretty hair. Don’t do the makeup. Don’t make expressions. Don’t look around. Be as invisible as possible, so there are as few clips out there on the Internet of her as possible.”

Tennis predicted the money spent in the death-penalty case could exceed $1 million. “This is a special case. It’s a special penalty that’s being sought,” Tennis said. “Even though Judge Perry had some tough talk today, I think the reality is he’s going to continue to give to the point that’s he not worried about the appellate court saying she was denied due process.”

Anthony attorney Ann Finnell did talk to reporters after court.  She and Perry had a robust discussion about her budget for the death-penalty phase.

“I think he’s got a responsibility to mind the store,” Finnell said.

Judge to Casey Anthony attorney: 'I'm not going to write an open check.'
The overall cost of defending Casey Anthony so far has approached $300,000.

Chief Circuit Judge Belvin Perry made two things perfectly clear to Casey Anthony and her attorneys Friday: He will not seal jail logs pertaining to the young woman and he will not let public dollars be wasted in her defense.

"I'm not going to write an open check," Perry told defense lawyers and their client, who appeared in court Friday for the first time since summer.

Friday's hearing covered a broad range of issues from finances and public records to deposition deadlines and spats between the prosecution and the defense. But the money and the jail records were the key issues handled Friday.

Anthony's defense team had earlier asked Perry to seal visitation and phone logs and commissary records. On Friday, they also asked to have her mail kept from public review. They cited a recent appellate court ruling in South Florida, which would restrict public access to recorded jail inmate telephone conversations. The Orlando Sentinel's attorneys filed a motion earlier this week asking the court not to seal the records, and attorney Gregg Thomas argued that stance Friday.

Perry said that ruling was not yet final, but even assuming it was, he did not see how its narrow scope could extend to the Casey Anthony phone logs and the other jail records.

More significant time was spent Friday discussing the future financing of Anthony's defense. Between private money and public dollars, nearly $300,000 has been used to defend the woman during the last two years. Most was private funding, but since Anthony was declared indigent in March, the public has been billed roughly $38,672 for Casey Anthony's defense. Only about $18,405 has been paid out so far.

Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie, whose body was found in a heavily wooded area near the Anthony home months after she was reported missing. The woman faces the death penalty if convicted. Her trial is set to start in May.

Defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason argued that the task of tracking down Texas EquuSearch volunteers who searched the area off Suburban Drive in 2008 has been tedious and drawn out, causing them to ask for additional funds for investigation. These potential witnesses are important if they can say they searched in the immediate area where the child's remains were ultimately found but saw nothing during their early searches.

While learning of the attempts to contact these searchers, Perry warned defense attorney Jose Baez: "Taxpayer funds do not allow you to go off on a fishing expedition."

At one point, Baez acknowledged 300 hours of investigative expenses has been "completely exhausted."

Meanwhile, new defense attorney Ann Finnell, who is helping prepare the defense for the penalty phase should Anthony be found guilty, made separate requests for expenses related to "mitigation" in the case.

Perry ultimately approved $2,500 in funding for a psychiatrist or psychologist to do evaluation; $500 for additional copies; 100 hours of penalty phase investigation or mitigation expert expenses at $40 an hour; and an additional 60 hours of regular investigation expenses at $40 an hour.

Perry denied Finnell's request for travel and lodging expenses for trips she must make between Jacksonville, where she is based, and Orlando. Finnell and the other attorneys are not now collecting a fee for their work on the case.

Perry also said he wants to hear more about the defense sending an investigator or specialist to Ohio, where Casey Anthony was born and lived the first few years of her life. The defense wants to speak to people there about her early life as part of an in-depth probe, but at one point, Perry asked, "Do we know why that can't be accomplished talking to them over the phone?"

Several times Friday, Perry noted how long this case has drawn out for more than two years and urged the attorneys to stick to deadlines for depositions.

Since 2008, the Casey Anthony case has gained national notoriety and a big-league price tag.

Death penalty attorney Todd Doss, the Death Penalty chair for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, says his fee in death cases starts at $100,000, not including costs.

But a case like Casey Anthony's, Doss said, would run significantly higher because of the size of the investigation, number of witnesses, complexity of evidence and intense media attention given the case.

"I surely would not quote Casey Anthony that [$100,000 figure]," Doss said. "I don't think $100,000 would be enough for that case. It would absolutely be well past the $100,000 mark. You need multiple attorneys to be able to handle the enormity of the case."

Asked earlier this week about the costs associated with the Anthony case, Baez said, there has been "no abuse of funds whatsoever in this case."

"Anyone who wants to complain about the costs should ask: Is this something I would have a problem with myself?" Baez said. "It's extremely difficult to say this is how much it should cost to defend a capital case. You can't put a price on a human life or what it costs."

But as she walked out, it appeared to me as if she did all she could to avoid eye contact with George and Cindy.

Wouldn't you think that Cindy could supply something other than that green, snow white puff sleeved, ill-fitting shirt for Casey to wear? I could care less, but I think it's odd that Cindy chooses that for her.

Something tailored, understated, and in good taste would be so much more appropriate. Well........... maybe I just answered my own question. Anthony's don't understand appropriate.

That was my favorite quote from today's hearing. LOL

I didn't get to watch today, and haven't had time to watch the videos yet, but from looking at what has been posted and some of the pictures it seems as if a lot of things were different today. First, where is the entorage of "friends" and church members who usually come with the Anthonys? 

The only person I saw there was that kook Joy (and what was all that bush on the back of her head?)  Then we get to their previous attorney - remember how he said he would be there to support them from then on?  LOL  Guess his mouth like all the others has written a paycheck his butt could not cash.

It seems it was rather anti climatic and to be honest I was appalled that the PI who has been accused of witness tampering was awarded anymore time. Maybe that was because they figure give him enough rope and he will hang himself. I guess the witness tampering is still under investigation so it could not be brought up in court yet.

Last, I wondered if Buchanan's lack of appearing for deposition was brought up by the state. Did anyone hear amything about that?

I wonder if they were trying to talk to her about a deal.  She is against it and that is why another attorney left.  She is putting the nails in her own coffin.  In the beginning, she could have gotten off with 8.  Now the best she can hope for is life.

It's a shame they pizzed away so much of the $350,000. or they would have had enough for Todd Doss.

Casey Anthony’s defense lawyers went to court Friday to try to get more money and more privacy.

Anthony's defense team wanted to get jail records sealed and out of the public’s hands.

Judge Belvin Perry denied the request, but did leave the door open for a future ruling.

In a second request, Anthony's attorneys asked for more money for private investigators, court document copies and travel expenses.

The defense argued they need the money to give Anthony a fair trial.

Perry did award the defense some additional money, but said he wouldn't write a blank check.

"Taxpayer funds do not allow you to go on fishing expeditions,” Perry said. “It must be for a particular need. Not for drilling and hoping that you are going to find oil when there is no signs that there is oil there."

Perry did award the defense team around $3,000 for legal expenses. He said the public would not pay for travel expenses.

IF Casey's lawyers were talking to her about a plea deal....why on earth would they wait until right before a hearing to discuss it with her? Usual Baez laziness?  Or since the depos were taken in VA, have they been riding her about taking a plea, because they now know without a shadow of doubt that Casey killed Caylee?  I can see her becoming angry enough to cry all the while denying everything.  She's never gonna crack and I don't feel the State would accept a deal anyway.  If a plea is reached, I feel it will be only because of the massive amount of money the State of Florida has had to dish out. Anyone who follows this case would benefit by seeing it life size. It brings it down to human scale…. The courtroom is huge and very high tech.
Schaeffer and his intern in the row next to me and at the first when Baez was hee hawing around, he drew a cartoon of a goat and passed it up to Belich.
There was some emotional ‘lawyering and postering’ at the end by Mason and Drane-Burdick. Baez tried to be play some sort of peace keeper -high ground taker-at the end but it fell flat as far as I’m concerned.
I actually felt badly for the Anthonys. I know its not a popular stance but there it is. Cindy seemed achingly sad. The cameras followed her to the elevator and she just turned her face to the wall and put her head down. They walked to the garage alone. I was behind them allowing space. I try to be honoring of my own and other peoples pain. (am a social worker after all… This is all so sad and needless and certainly all of Casey’s doing.

Casey did look angry as she left the courtroom. Her mother leaned over the rail to try and get her attention but Casey ignored her and slunked off. She looked pissy at different times during the hearing.

I’m betting that they had an alternative plan for her shackles. Instead of wearing the chains vs. not wearing them, they probably used something that is like two ankle “cuffs” with a leather strap connecting them, or nylon strap. I realized they might’ve had an alternative like they have plastic zip tie cuffs instead of metal handcuffs, so I looked it up.
In the 2nd row of items on this page you’ll see what I’m talking about. This is probably what Casey had and explains why some people say she was shackled and some say she wasn’t. Thisbe said she had something “brown” strapped on her ankles.

Good morning, Monkeys...I've been pondering for awhile now about WHY Baez and Co. keep harping on trying to keep the public from knowing about Casey's phone calls, commissary orders and visitor logs.  I've speculated that the jail log issue has to do with some brokered media deal, or something as simple as not wanting to tip their hand with people knowing they are going with a "psychiatric" defense.  But what if the real issue is that they want to keep the damning phone calls, (especially the "Give me Tony's phone number" one,) out of the trial.
I know they lost on the Cindy 911 phone call, but could they try to be eeling around the issue with these motions? 
I don't know.  I just wish the defense wasn't so slippery and slimy.  I've got a lot of admiration for the State, there is no way I could work with these people.

Thanks for this, Tupelo.  Personally, I don't see Casey running amok in court, but I think she needs to be reminded that this isn't a garden party, she's there because she is being held for a capital crime.  Although I find her "Murdering Whore" Courtroom Collection amusing, I wish she would wear prison garb.  I believe that she thinks she's "dressing for her closeup, Mr. Demille."

Tax returns indicate the group has received $2.4 million in contributions since 2008. But Mike Stein, the man behind the alliance, wouldn't supply documentation to back up claims of how the money was spent. Judge Belvin Perry did not order the state to pay travel and lodging costs for new defense attorney Ann Finnell, Pipitone explained. "But Perry did allow $500 for copying costs, $2,500 for a mental health professional to examine Casey and another $2,400 for a private investigator," Pipitone said. "Perry drew the line when the defense wanted another $12,000 for investigators to follow up on people who searched for Caylee's body near where it was found months later."

In a clip, Perry lectured the defense that "taxpayers' funds do not allow you to go on fishing expeditions."

Pipitone added, "If the defense can specify exactly what it's looking for and what it would take to get it, Perry said he would reconsider ordering the state to pay for it."

Pipitone summed up: "So far, taxpayers have spent about $40,000 on Casey Anthony's defense. That could go up to $50,000 now and will get even higher as that May trial date approaches."

I too wondered if she was shackled. As she left the court, she turned towards her parents, but didn't look at them, then moved slowly off to the left, towards the exit. A deputy walking behind her gave her a prod when she apparently thought KC was moving too slowly... and then she moved on.

Bet that is the real reason, but I read somewhere on a blog that she had a broken ankle. Has Joy been to all the hearings?  I don't recall seeing her at the last several hearings.

After not seeing  Casey in the courtroom for quite  some time, there is no doubt that her attorney Jose Baez has been doing a lot of work with his client in terms of getting her body language under control. Gone  are the  unconscionable smirks and smiles. Gone is the ritualistic hair tossing and hair grooming.

No doubt,  Jose insisted that his client wear her hair off of her face,  so she wouldn’t  be tempted to toss and play with it all the time. So she wore it in a severe greasy looking bun tied at the back of her head, reminiscent of an oldfashioned prim and proper school marm.



I must say that Casey looked good physically. Her cheekbones and facial  features seemed sculpted, indicating that her weight was back in form, unlike previous times where she may have been munching on too many commissary snacks.

She also appeared   a little  more connected  to what was going on in the courtroom than she  did in the past. She even seemed to focus more often on  the people   who were  speaking and standing in front of Judge Perry, as we see in this photo above.



Even though Jose probably told her time and time again to stop grooming and adjusting her clothing, she still couldn’t seem to he;p herself. She still groomed herself  by adjusting her clothes periodically during her courtroom appearance.



MAJOR BODY LANGUAGE LEAK

While she still lip pursed, the  annoying lip gestures were few and far between. But no matter how hard Jose tried to keep his client in check body language wise there was something major in her facial and body language  which  that leaked out.

CASEY’S REAL NON- FEELINGS ABOUT CAYLEE  LEAK  OUT

When Judge Perry mentioned  the words ” remains of the victim“   Casey didn’t even bat an eye. It was as though someone said the” weather is  fine”.  Her lack of  reaction facially or body language wise,  clearly shows that she is over it. She appears to show no emotional attachment whatsoever to Caylee.

At least she is keeping it real. Gone are the fake and contrived wiping away of non tears when Caylee’s name was mentioned. Caylee is a remote thing of the past  to Casey as as  it is becomes harder and harder to  hard  for her to conjure up any emotion as it relates to Caylee.

 

While Jose gets points for trying to re-image Casey, he still fails miserably as far as her dress is concerned. There is a lot of disparity and contradiction in the image he wants Casey to put across.

She had on one of  her repulsive puffy sleeved hospital  colored  green blouses. This was most likely chosen by her former attorney Andrea Lyon as an attempt to make Casey  look more  innocent and sweet in court . But it did’t work.In fact the message that it was intended to portray, was just the opposite. This was especially true  when Casey wore that  puffy sleeved blouse with  either an ill-fitting  bra or no bra at all.

 



Her breasts hung low and her nipples were showing. At first I thought it was  be the dart line of the cut of the blouse that gave this impression.  But then, the  other photo clips I observed  confirmed that it was not the case.

She reminded me of  what we have seen so often in and out of the court room with Cindy. Like Casey, Cindy’s  breasts also hung low due to an either ill-fitting bra or her not wearing a bra at all. It certainly  seems to indicate that “the apple certainly doesn’t fall too far from the tree.”

JOSE BAEZ IS NO DUMMY AND NO BOZO

While it is truly” Baptism by Fire” . Jose Baez has been thrust into the forefront with a national case that may be well over his head. But  as you can see you he has sought out some  of the best people to help him out. No matter what you think of Jose Baez. he  may be inexperienced but he is no dummy.  He knows  the importance of image and perception. He knows it so well that  that he  has enrolled perhaps the best jury selector in the country who wrote the book on the subject.He won’t be able to apy the consultant with state funds, Judge Perry made certain of that.  So Baez  will have to pay him privately.

Being a jury consultant myself, I am well aware of  the jury consultant’s work and have the utmost of respect for him  He knows EXACTLY what to do and what type of jury to chose so that Casey’s guilt  will be questioned or her life will be spared.

It is a shame that the prosecution has decided to forgo using a jury consultant. They do not have the funds to pay such a consultant. And even if a consultant wanted to volunteer to help out, they would reject that as well because they want to treat this case as they treat all their other cases.

Personally I think that is a bad idea  because this case is NOT like other cases. They eyes of the world are on his case. Even if they chose someone local  in Orlando who does not have the savvy and the in depth background or understand the nuances involved and what  it takes to thwart  Baez’s jury consultant’s efforts, they will not  be successful in terms of arriving at the verdict they want in order to

Yes, I believe the defense is holding on to some docs, but the media paid for some last Friday, so we shall see.

I just don't understand why Baez has not been held accountable for every single penny he has gotten.  I feel that the money is hidden somewhere and the lack of mortgage payments by these players is supposed to be like a cover up....I can't pay my mortgage, if I had money, I would pay it. G & C were allowed to keep their hell hole with special circumstances......like a payoff once the trial is over?  None of this makes any sense.

Hey, I had a question...there's been much talk about how distraught Casey and Cindy both looked at Friday's hearing.  Is it just the stark reality of the death penalty setting in, or is there something more?  I suppose we would have heard if the Pleseas and Anthony seniors were having trouble.  It just seems that something is going on.  Perhaps it has to do with the FBI info.  I don't know.  I never trust it when there is too much silence. 

I believe so, too, Tupelo.  Anybody got an "in" with Kathi B. and could ask her when we're going to see them?

Good Morning Monks!  Hi tupelo!  I am not a fan of Lillian Glass. IMO Far too often she voices her opinion, but states it as fact. She doesn't reference her so called facts.  I wonder how she knows what the State can and cannot afford? The State has the evidence they don't need 'jury consutants', they have the truth on their side.  And for her to make such a big deal out of Kc's boob's is, IMO , so unprofessional. The only bra Kc can get is a sports type bra from the commissary. Kc seems to have lost a lot of weight making her boobs look even larger on her now tiny frame.  Give her looks a rest for goodness sake. Comment on her facial expressions, her body language....but she can't control the clothing she is given to wear.  This entire article reinforces my opinion of Lillian Glass ....HUGE WASTE

hi Monka!!  I didn't think either looked very distraught....cindy was playing for the cameras as usual and I think Kc finally got the word to stop with the facial expressions etc. I think she has been told to act like she is taking this seriously...

I don't ever see the point for a jury consultant, what a joke IMO.            I didn't want to say anything during the hearing, but geez I thought the same thing Glass wrote, though I didn't think it was appropriate for her to write it in an article.  I'm talking about the bra or lack of a bra.

Hi Monka!  I wondered the same thing about the elder Pleseas. Even looked them up to see if there was something in the news (Obit, GOD forbid) and didn't find anything. But is would not surprise me in the least that they would not publicize such an occurrence.  They are definitely stay out of the limelight.  I pray Caylee's great-grandparents are doing well.

Hi, new here.

I definitely think something is going on. Baez looked extremely uncomfortable and nearly chewed his face off. Never happened before. Casey wasn't flirting, giggling, or anything cheerful. No pen spinning or anything. Never happened before. Her mother was crying. Never happened before. I think something is going on behind the scenes. Maybe she is finally ready to try and take a plea bargain, if the state goes with it. You'd think they were all at a funeral for Casey, and the DP hasn't even been decided by a jury yet - the dang trial isn't until next year. Yep, something is definitely going on behind the scenes in Caseyland.

Yeah, we all noticed her chest, but LG's point of view was to favor jurors.....well, this was just a hearing, and if a potential juror was watching this hearing.....chances are they won't be chosen anyway. JMO  Maybe Casey has no funds to buy a bra, she owed the jail the last time we saw.

The last time I saw Cindy look this upset was at a hearing, Lyon was fairly new and a few days later docs were released stating that duck tape was over Caylee's mouth and nose area.  Just sayin'....

I would love to know why the family in OH will not talk to the defense?  Perhaps they just don't want to get involved or they feel that anything they had to say would not help, but would hurt Kc?

AF said she would remain, even if she didn't get her travel expense. lol  But that was the only condition she stated that she would stay for.  I have a feeling relatives in OHio could care less about Casey, maybe even the whole family since they have seen and read first hand about their deception. They have also learned how this group has harmed so many innocents.  If these people are absolutely (ugh) necessary they will have to be subpoenaed, and I'm not sure that is even possible.....this is all for the sentencing phase.

This past week, it was announced to the public by Casey Anthony's defense team that Florida's Ann E. Finnell had joined them, the latest death-qualified defense attorney to represent the young woman accused of murdering her toddler-daughter, Caylee Marie.

This news comes on the heels of Professor Andrea Lyon withdrawing from the case in late June 2010.

Ms. Finnell's efforts will focus upon the penalty phase of the trial, currently set for May 2011.  This, of course, means that Ann Finnell will take a lead role only when, and if, Casey Anthony is found guilty during the initial guilt or innocence phase of the trial.  (For the legal qualifications to serve as a death-qualified attorney under Florida law, read our earlier post.)

Personally, I don't know Ann Finnell but I've heard lots of great things about her -- she's known to be a fighter, a true believer, and a very good death penalty attorney.  As the first death-qualified attorney on the Casey Anthony case, I do know a bit about the representation that Ms. Finnell has just undertaken, however.

And, as I did before with Professor Andrea Lyon, I wish my colleague Ann Finnell all the best in this important work.

I read it as good luck but you are beating a dead horse.  What's your take on it?

I think it was just an excuse to get more money.....the people in Ohio are not going to be any more receptive to speaking to someone in person that they are on the phone.

that brings up an interesting question............what happens if they both quit?????????????  Would the state then appoint a death qualified PD?  would the case get postponed until BOZO could get another sucker errr death qualified attorney to work pro bono??  Is this where they are heading?

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Around 1,000 pages of evidence will be released on Tuesday in the case against Casey Anthony, the state attorney's office said on Monday.

A spokeswoman for State Attorney Lawson Lamar said some of the material dates back to 2008. Some of the evidence is more recent.

There are more than 20,000 pages of evidence in all in the case.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- About 1,000 pages of documents are expected to be released Tuesday in the Casey Anthony murder case.

Anthony, 24, is jailed on first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee, whose remains were found in December 2008. Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008, about a month after she was last seen alive.

Jail letters are expected to be among the items released by the state attorney's office as part of the discovery process.

Anthony on Friday appeared at a court hearing in Orlando in which Judge Belvin Perry ruled against a request to make her jail records, such as visitor logs and commissary purchases, private. Perry said the records will remain public and can continue to be released.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty, claiming she left her daughter with a baby sitter and they were both gone when she returned to pick up Caylee.

Anthony's trial is scheduled to begin in May.

Prosecutors plan to release roughly 1,000 pages of discovery in the Casey Anthony case on Tuesday.

Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office spokeswoman Danielle Tavernier said the documents should be made available electronically by the late-morning on Tuesday, probably around 10 a.m.

She said the discovery records do to not follow a single theme or strand. While some information will be new, some of it has been released already, she said.

Casey Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie. Her trial is expected to start in May. She faces the death penalty if convicted.
Her defense team tried to have jail records involving Casey Anthony sealed, but that request was denied in court Friday. Her defense was granted access to additional state funding, however, to prepare the case for trial during the hearing last week.

hi Curly...I have thought a lot about this and came up with something that I THINK seems plausible....if he could get a judge to rule they should not be released, then I think he would have grounds to have every thing that has been released be inadmissible in court. And he would hope this would cast a dark eye saying the State was persecuting her as well as prosecuting her. This is JMO, but there has to be some reason he keeps filing this particular motion.

Hi Monks.  I wanted to weigh in on talking to people in Ohio.  IMO, there aren't many family members left in Ohio.  The most prominent is GA's sister who is married to a reputable car dealership owner.  The local papers don't carry much info on KC or the trial - mostly just stories off the newswire services.
I haven't seen a story containing an interview by a local reporter.  When I talked with a media person, he seemed to know less about this story than we do.  It hasn't had the kind of attention one might think it would.  It could be that GA's brother in law is so respected (and a big advertiser) that the local papers have stayed back; or it could be that the editors just don't feel it is newsworthy in NE Ohio. 

Whatever the defense is trying to dig up in Ohio doesn't bode well for GA and CA.  They are apparently trying to set the stage for "what went wrong in KC"s life that caused her to murder her child".    ::MonkeyNoNo::

I would love to see the A's tax returns.  They can redact all the numbers - I just want to see if they were claiming either Caylee or KC as dependents.

Yes Girlzrock!  Also, financial reports could also show who paid for Caylee's needs.  And a friend of mine said that the reason for re-releasing info is that there might be a change added from the first release, as more info came in. But the best part of this is that the defense has to go through it all to find out what is there. lol  If they can find the time.

1.) Could LKB have left because there's forensic evidence in this document dump that even she can not dispute or dispel?

Ayup - Casey is guilty!

2.) If the above is true and there is solid, indisputable evidence of Casey's guilt...It would also explain the defense's continued posturing about funds for the penalty phase of the trial when the trial, and her guilt or innocence (it hurts to type that word) has yet to be established in a court of law.

Ayup - The A's are guilty of crimes and this dump could be a precurser to charges being brought against them in the future. Crimes such as, obstruction, misuse of funds, tax evasion, witholding evidence, etc.  I know...wishful thinking on my part!

This could be a good day for little Caylee Marie...a spoonful of justice could be served up, before the banquent of evidence is even layed upon the table.

I *think* we've read this before but am not positive...

August 9 (Roy Kronk reporting day #1?), this lady Lynn Gibson says she and a friend and their kids were walking west down Suburban.  That would be from the direction of the school toward the direction of Hopespring Dr.  They were walking along the edge of the road where Caylee was later found.  She says as she passed the area she was looking into the woods.  Says she saw a black plastic bag and numerous articles "strewn" up/down the slope 20-25 feet from the road.  One of the articles she noted on the ground there was a little flesh-colored doll/toy/figure with no clothes.

If that is true, it could be most interesting.

Her statement, which seems only vaguely familiar to me, was taken on December 18, 2008, a week after Caylee's remains were found.  Sorry if this is an old "repeat."

I'm finding it odd that DC was looking at Kronk's son, wondering what color his hair is as Ginette feels a blonde haired man disposed of Caylee.  Now he is a witness for the defense.  Again....HUH?

Just in the sense that there has been much speculation about the Mama dolls; it would be interesting if one of Caylee's "Mama" type dolls had been tossed out with her in the swamp.  That would make the Mama doll that was found in the car seat in the Pontiac a sort of "decoy" doll and would raise lots of questions.  Probably just a red herring, but if the lady really did see a doll, and if it happened to be a doll that had belonged to Caylee,  it would be interesting, IMO.  And also, what happened to it?  It wasn't there three months later, when Caylee's remains were finally found...

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Hundreds of pages of documents were released by prosecutors in the case against Casey Anthony on Tuesday.

The documents included a report from an Orange County Corrections officer who was with Anthony when the announcement was made that Caylee Anthony's body had been found.

Lt. Tammi Unser sent an e-mail to investigators on Dec. 11, 2008, after she spoke with a detective about the incident.

Unser said Anthony fell into a chair, doubled over and began breathing rapidly upon seeing the news coverage on television.

"At one point, we thought she was going to hyperventilate," Unser stated in the e-mail.

Anthony asked to have her chains loosened because she said they were too tight, but Unser said the chains were not too tight and were not changed.

As Anthony continued to watch the coverage, Unser said she stated, "Oh no," after hearing the location where the body was found and word that it was a small child's body. She then began pulling at her arms and fidgeting with her hands, the e-mail stated.

It was more than a week later before the body was identified as Caylee Anthony.

When asked if she would like to speak with a doctor in the jail's mental health unit, Anthony told Unser she wanted to call attorney Jose Baez. Unser said she would have to talk to the doctor before calling Baez. Anthony agreed.

Anthony was taken to see the doctor, and Unser said she remained with her during the visit.

"(Anthony) was still breathing rapidly and fidgeting with her hands during her conversation with him," Unser said.

During the conversation with the doctor, Anthony was asked if she would hurt herself, and she reassured both of them that she wouldn't.

"I stressed my concern was her safety, and we needed to make sure she was OK," Unser said. "She again stated hurting herself would not solve anything."

Anthony did ask for a sedative and reiterated her request to speak with Baez. When asked whether she had taken sedatives before, Anthony said the only drugs she had ever taken were muscle relaxants after an injury.

Unser waited with Anthony for Baez to arrive. Unser said about 15 minutes later, Anthony changed the subject to football and began talking about the national championship game.

Anthony was taken to an interview room after Baez arrived. Unser stood outside the interview room during their visit.

"During the first couple of minutes, Casey broke down and started to cry. She held her head in her hands and seemed visibly upset by her body motions," Unser said.

After a conversation with Baez, Anthony received the sedative and was escorted back to her jail cell.

"(Anthony's) personal property was bagged up as she was put on a (psych) watch," Unser said. "She was allowed to keep reading materials and her pictures of Caylee."

The state attorney’s office released more than 1,000 pages of discovery in the Casey Anthony case Tuesday morning.
ncluded in the discovery is an e-mail written by Tammi Unser from the Orange County jail to Matt Irwin from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office narrating Casey Anthony’s reaction when she saw breaking news television coverage of the discovery of a child’s body near the Anthony family home on December 11, 2008. Unser writes that Anthony was escorted to the female medical area to watch the TV coverage and when she entered the room and saw the TV and “immediately fell into the chair.”

Unser goes on to say Anthony was breathing rapidly and stated “Oh No” after she heard it was the body of a small child. Unser writes that Anthony was then asked is she wanted to see the doctor and she replied that she wanted to speak to her attorney, Jose Baez, but was told she had to see the doctor first. She was then escorted to the doctor and later Baez arrived and the two met in an interview room which is where Unser says Anthony broke down and started to cry.

The discovery also includes the application for a wire tape of Casey Anthony’s phone as well as phones belonging to her mother and father, George and Cindy Anthony, her brother Lee Anthony, and her ex-boyfriend Anthony Lazzaro. The wire tap application was approved by a judge. A judge also approved tracking devices be placed on the vehicles driven by them.

Also included in the discovery is a letter dated June 8, 2010 written by an inmate in Marquette, Michigan to prosecuting attorney Linda Drane-Burdick as well as an affidavit he produced. In the letter and affidavit, Curtis Jackson tells her that in late 2007 until mid 2008 he was an associate of Casey Anthony and Tony Lazzaro, a former boyfriend of Casey. Jackson says he met Anthony through a pen-pal and the two wrote each other for several months.

Jackson goes on to say that Anthony told him she was too young to have a child and care for one and asked him if he killed anyone and what he would do to get rid of a child. He also says she asked him how to dispose of a body.

There is also a letter written by Cindy Anthony to Cindy dated July 21, 2010. In the letter Cindy tells Casey to “stay focused and strong” and that she sees her “strength and commitment to fight for your freedom.”
lso in the discovery is an e-mail from attorney Christian Lake with the Justice Administrative Commission to prosecuting attorney Linda Drane-Burdick. In the e-mail Lake discusses a phone call a JAC employee received from a person in Minnesota claiming to have knowledge about “Kaylee Anthony’s whereabouts.” (sic) Also included in the e-mail are the hand written notes the employee made while on the phone with the person.

On July 26, 2008 -- four days after the July 22 bond hearing where we first heard from Yuri Melich that Casey's car trunk smelled like decomp -- one Ryan Huffman, a friend of Will Waters, tells police (I think Ryan was under arrest at the time, and hoping for a break) that Will brought his girlfriend Casey's vehicle in for repair after an accident, and that an unknown mechanic at an unknown garage where it was brought in, later said that it had a bad smell like a dead body.

Since first hearing of this long ago, possibly from an LE interview with Will, I've always wondered if there could be any truth to this "tip."

Why?  Because during the time before Caylee was likely dumped on Suburban, Amy's (not Casey's) wrecked car was kept at Tony's apartment complex, until the management asked that it be removed.  IIRC, on June 19, 2008, Amy arranged to have Will help her tow the vehicle from the parking lot at Tony's apartment. I believe it was the same day Casey went with Tony to look at apartments at Crane's Landing, where her friend Matt Crisp worked as a leasing agent.

Some have wildly wondered whether Casey, who was staying at Tony's during that time, might have initially stashed Caylee in the trunk of Amy's totaled car because it was handy, she could keep an eye on it, and she assumed it would be undisturbed.  I have seen ZERO evidence to support this theory, however.  If so, she would have had to transfer Caylee's body elsewhere by the morning of the 19th because Amy was on her way over with Will to have the car removed from the property. 

Just more wild speculation.  Again, there is likely nothing at all to this "tip."  But if there is, it would be a bombshell.

The document release included more letters written to Anthony while she has been in the Orange County Jail, but the bulk of the pages included the Anthony family's bank records from around the time that Caylee Anthony disappeared. Detectives subpoenaed the records early on the the investigation so they could understand the family's background.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- WFTV obtained 910 pages of documents in the case against Casey Anthony Tuesday morning
Among the nearly 1,000 pages released are more letters written to Casey behind bars, documents regarding tracking several people involved in the case, and a correction officer's description of Casey's reaction when learning Caylee's body had been found.

Also released, were handwritten notes by Orange County Sheriff's detective Eric Edwards.

In a letter written by corrections officer Tammi Unser about Casey's reaction, she wrote, "Upon entering the medical area, she looked at the TV and immediately fell into the chair, doubling over and began to breathe rapidly. At one point we thought she was going to hyperventilate."

Unser also wrote that Casey said "Oh no" after she heard the location on the news and that it was the body of a small child.

There were "two" of those baby dolls - I don't remember where I read it but Cindy said that in one of her statements. She said one was the one KC had as a child and one was Caylee's.  I always speculated that there was only one and that Cindy got one and placed it in the car for the police to find.

I know there has been a ton of information released in Caylee's case but for some reason this statement made by Shirley struck me as odd.  If this came out before and I just missed it or glossed over it will some monkey set me straight please. 

I assume Cindy is the one that tells Shirley that KC is gone for weeks at a time and stays in a hotel with Caylee and a babysitter which is paid for by Universal Studios.  Huh?  Really?  I find this interesting for a number of reasons, mostly because it proves just how good both Cindy and KC can lie.  If this is true then why didn't Cindy say this when asked how KC paid for the services of Zanny the Nanny?  None of it correlates with anything either one of those two have said in the cover up of Caylee's murder.   ::MonkeyNoNo::

-- Cindy mentions Janeane a lot (the mitigation lady).  Janeane says this, Janeane says that...

-- The first 2/3 of the letter is a nutty ranting diatribe, laced with extreme and to my eye shallow references to God and Jesus.  If I didn't know better, I would suspect that Cindy was following some kind of "script" to make her appear even more unhinged than ever.

-- How odd that except for a brief mention about the grandparents on both sides, the rest of Cindy's letter to Casey is filled with depressing topics relating to Caylee:  That there was a burst pipe that caused water to leak in Caylee's room, which in turn caused the carpet to stink.  She says she has to be careful describing the smell, or it will end up as "discovery." 

She says that she only recently removed Caylee's little potty chair from her (Cindy/George's) bathroom, after two years.

She mentions the dog being ill and seeming to be on the same downward path as a previous pet that died.  She associates these dogs with Caylee, saying it is extra sad to see them sicken and die because "they were Caylee's pets, too."

She says she still sees Caylee in the house (in her imagination presumably) but has to stop talking about Caylee in this letter to Casey, before it makes her cry.


Of interest:  She states that Caylee normally spent her mornings in Cindy's bathroom/bedroom with her as she was getting ready for work.

Hey, Monkarinos!   Been busy all day---SOLD MY HOUSE YESTERDAY!!!!!  Woo Hoo!!! Now I can get down to business and read some docs.  (It's like Christmas!)
Only got through a couple of things, but in reading Shirley's email, (bless her heart,) she confirms what we've always suspected.  Cindy didn't have any close friends.  I'm sure being the breadwinner and caretaker of everyone in her family took its toll on her, but according to her mom, she had "no one to confide in."  That is sad.

Yes, I agree.  The discussions in these letters between Shirley and Loubea contradict much of the the SWORN information provided to LE and the State by Cindy and George regarding Casey's behavior, G&C's marriage, Casey's lies about working, Casey's stealing, and the 31 days.  There is a lot there; they are a treasure trove.  I believe these have been released before, but they are really interesting to re-read after all this time.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's mother wrote in a letter last summer that she has never given up believing that her daughter is innocent of murdering her infant granddaughter.

The letter Cindy Anthony wrote to her daughter, Casey, in jail last summer was among 1,000 pages of documents released Tuesday by the State Attorney's Office. Cindy Anthony says in the letter that after Casey Anthony's trial is over they will look for 2-year-old Caylee Anthony together.

Casey Anthony has pleaded not guilty to killing her daughter and says a baby sitter kidnapped Caylee.

The documents also show that detectives investigating Caylee's disappearance sought and received court permission to trace the phone calls of Casey Anthony, her parents and brother, and as well as put tracking devices on their cars.

I do, I do!  If you look at the checks for "Brighthouse" and to "Earl Wood", tax collector, (by the way doesn't that sound like a bad 60's tv show?  But I digress.  Alot, as it happens.)  At any rate, those signatures are quite different from the "Casey" checks.  She signs Cindy's name like she signs her own, messy and self important.

Thank you for summarizing this Desi - I was trying to read it myself and was not having a whole lot of luck.  Cindy is as self absorbed as KC.  Shame on her for using the Good Lord once again because if she were a true Christian she would not have even written that letter, she would have gone to visit regardless of the visit being made available to the public.  She just doesn't get it.

That might not be new, but I had not heard it before.  And this too:

Same page, fingerprint testing is being requested on the plastic bag from the top shelf of the A's garage, which contained the extra laundry bag.  Comparisons are requested for Casey, Cindy, George, and Lee.  They want to know who put the laundry bag in that garbage bag and stored it up on the shelf.  Oh boy.  (Again, sorry if this is old news; it was new to me.)

I agree.  Desi, thanks for the "closed caption" for the bad photo copy impaired!  The rampant hypocrisy of Cindy is so apparent.  She is the epitome of what Casey called herself, "spiteful biotch'...not very Christian, if I do say so myself. 

Taking a closer look at these checks......notice the dates and check numbers.....it appears that Casey would just snatch checks from within the batch so that Cindy wouldn't notice right away.  Cindy allowed this to continue for quite some time.....so since she did....is she really lying when she says Casey didn't steal the money?

I don't know who's they are...but am sure they are from the letters with Robyn...I would think the state attorney's would be classified under work product and not discovery.

Okay, the list of all the little bones.  Yes, that got to me.  I will take a break now.

That letter and what Cindy is all saying has to be a ploy, Janeane I think is behind it, and I wouldn't be surprised that what they are doing is showing that Casey isn't right in the head, thanks to Cindy. Cindy is probably thrilled to go along with it if it will get Casey off.

Michaels, Walgreens, Target, K-Mart....all of these have pharmacies......notice the amounts of the checks made out to these places.....seems to me to be the right amount to be purchasing over the counter meds.   Casey may have been drugging Caylee for quite some time, IMO.....hope I'm wrong.

Then why didn't Casey go with T. Lenamons way of Defense? There is also an email from Shirley Plesea that states that Georges family has issues, one sister (I think) was bipolar. So possible hereditary....perfect defense and Casey said no.

Can A. Finnell get medical records for relatives or just for Casey?  If George's family does have mental issues, could she be going to Ohio for those records, because I really don't see what they will find on Casey for the first 3 years of her life that she lived there.

No. There's no way she can obtain those records. HIPAA laws forbid releasing personal info. to an unauthorized party.

Even though we won't know when or where jury selection is to be, I have a feeling Cindy will, and I envision her sitting outside the courtroom, checking out these potential jurors and telling them her version of the truth. I put nothing past her....nothing.

Among the documents are letters to Casey in jail from well-wishers around the country, a memo from Lt. Tammi Unser of Corrections, documents that trace phone calls to and from the Anthony home, and a letter from Cindy Anthony to Casey.

In a recent letter Cindy Anthony writes that, she has finally been able to remove Caylee’s potty chair out of her bedroom and notes, it “sounds crazy that it was in there for 2 years.”

“It’s just so hard to let go of somethings”, Cindy Anthony wrote.  “We spent a lot of time together in the mornings while I was getting ready for work.  I can still see her.”

WOFL-Ch. 35’s Holly Bristow highlighted that investigators trapped and traced phone calls to and from the Anthony family home as well as calls from the cell phones of Anthony’s parents, brother Lee, boyfriend Tony Lazzaro and former fiance Jesse Grund.

“More than two years later, it’s unclear if these efforts helped investigators,” Bristow said. “After all, it was Roy Kronk, a then-county meter reader who found little Caylee’s remains.”

WESH-Ch. 2’s Bob Kealing highlighted that investigators monitored Anthony family phones and cars in the months after Caylee was reported missing. Investigators focused on phones that Casey Anthony might use. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

A therapist suggested that Cindy Anthony kick Casey out of the house when Cindy wasn’t allowed to see granddaughter Caylee, Kealing reported. “But Cindy refused, not being able to stomach the idea of her granddaughter being out on the street,” Kealing added.

Looks like Cindy  shopped at walmart 6-16-08 maybe thats why casey couldnt get a hold of her.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- About 1,000 pages of documents were released Tuesday in the Casey Anthony murder case.
The document release included more letters written to Anthony while she has been in the Orange County Jail, but the bulk of the pages included the Anthony family's bank records from around the time that Caylee Anthony disappeared. Detectives subpoenaed the records early in the investigation so they could understand the family's background.

The documents also include information that reveals that investigators traced every phone call to and from Anthony's family, including their home phone and all of their cell phones. Investigators placed tracking devices on cars belonging to her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, her brother, Lee Anthony, and her boyfriend at the time, Anthony Lazzaro.

One of the letters in the discovery released Tuesday was from Cindy Anthony, written days after she testified at a hearing.

"I have never given up on you," Cindy Anthony wrote. "I see your strength and commitment to fight for your freedom and for Caylee. When spring comes and your trial is over, we will find her together. I continue to seek her and continue to have hope that we will all be able to be reunited soon. All their twisting of the truth and purposely leaving out statements or evidence will eventually bite them in the rear."

Of course the video has been removed, so I don't know for sure if the A's were actually there at the studio or were they here at home.  But it sure is funny that the date is the same.  And since Amy's phone is a cell phone, one can't get her # through information, so who ever called her was given her # and we all know that Cindy had it.  I can see Cindy finding some poor dude on the street and offering him money to dial the # and say what he said.  JMOO

This is a video of the Today Show  10/22 where C & G were in the studio.  Meredith says, "When we talked last week...."  Still doesn't prove they were there on 10/15, but I believe they were.  They most likely needed to be there for a length of time to wheel and deal book/movie deals.

From what I understand, and I could be wrong (again), but Patty had some issues about a lot of her videos and she took down some. But what I don't know is why some are still there and some are gone.  Just hinky that the 10/15/05 Today Show has been removed.

Good morning, Monkeys!  I've been really busy, (Sold my house, five days before I close on my new one, what a blessing!) 
This is the first I've heard that poor Amy was being threatened to drop her case.  I wonder if this alleged tampering with a witness investigation has been closed.  Maybe this is why Cindy looked so upset at the hearing last Friday.  Maybe she is being charged at last.  (A girl can dream.)  Remembering the nasty phone call she made to Tim Miller, this sounds exactly like something Cindy would do.

This is where I get into trouble, I want to pass over this part and I do for a bit but something in me makes me go back and read.  No matter how dellusional her own family is, we all know that was all that was left of Caylee.  Her lil bones, still so precious to me.  I have tried over and over to back away from this case, I can't, my heart won't let me.  Although I don't post very often, I am sure that you can all see me up in the tree-tops, day after day, many nights till the wee am.  I am so grateful to all of you that are so much better in discussing the case and the discovery to keep me in the know.  I think some of you were meant to be detectives, so many times, I am thinking, I hope someone from the defense is reading here.  I can't wait for the trial and am so glad you will all be here with me.  I hope justice for Caylee will bring us all the closure we need.  We are the ones in angst now, lil Caylee has been safely home with Jesus for a long time.  She is looking down on her monkey friends and blowing us sweet kisses.  ::MonkeyAngel::

Thanks for bringing me back to my senses.  You are so right, for just one tiny second when I read the, "I can still see her" part, my heart ached for Cindy.  I lost my only brother in a car accident, I was 28, he had would of been 30 the next month.  For years, we lived in so much pain, I tried to help my mom through her grief, my father grieved alone and she needed me.  So many times, I heard her say, I can still see him do this or that, or say this, or tell that joke.  I know that pain really exists, I so want to believe that there is something human inside of Cindy that feels that.  However, wanting that, does not make it so and I am glad you all reel me back in and make me realize that all the goodness in our hearts will never make Cindy anything but evil.  She has said and done too much and not said and done enough.  When she mentions God in her letters to Casey, I almost feel like I am reading something obscene, that every word is a blasphemy.  I know, I am not supposed to judge but judge I do and I know in my heart that God will forgive me.  It would literally take a miracle for Cindy at this late date to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  I know it's crazy of me but I still pray for that......just not holding my breath.  I like the rest of you, think she is gonna live in her own nightmare world of lies and deceit until the bus runs over her and the rest of her family.  Casey is not done with any of them, you can see the evil spite and contempt she has for them, in every action, every movement, even in her own written words.  I would be afraid Anthony family, very, very afraid.........

Cindy went to a lot of trouble to put ashes into every piece of jewelry she could find and maybe even into stuffed bears and who knows what else.  Why in the world would anyone who had one bit of doubt, go to all that work?  She would of denied reciept of the body and the ashes if she had true doubt, I have heard of mothers in disbelief and grief, they won't go to their own childs funeral or ever go to their graves for years.  Their grief is not what usually happens but it does happen.  They keep the childs room the same for years and it becomes a shrine.  They just don't have it both ways, wear cremations while also either not comprehending the death or not being mentally able to accept it.  I don't think Cindy is one of those grieving messes, she has come off too nasty and no one in real denied, grief could of pulled off that so-called CMA Memorial.  Her smile and song did it for me, no one in complete denial would of been able to pull that off.  You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool a monkey.

In a letter written July 21, 2010, Cindy Anthony writes "When spring comes and the trial is over we will find [Caylee] together," adding "I continue to seek her and continue to have hope that we will all be reunited soon."

Caylee's body was found in December 2008, about six months after she went missing, in a wooded area behind the Anthony family home. The remains were positively identified as Caylee nearly a year and a half before the letter was written.

The letter was among 1,000 pages of documents released Tuesday by the State Attorney's Office.

Cindy Anthony tells her daughter how beautiful she looked in court the week before and how nice it was to be able to see her face-to-face "for more than a brief moment." She tells Casey Anthony how sorry she is that she has to "continue to be put through this." She tells Casey that she has "never given up" on her, according to the documents obtained by CBS affiliate WKMG.

Casey Anthony is jailed on first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter. Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty and maintains that Caylee was abducted by her babysitter. The trial is scheduled to begin in May.

Atlanta, GA – More than 900 pages of discovery documents related to the Casey Anthony murder case were released by the Florida State Attorney’s Office. We’ve read through the documents and have more information on the investigation and the Anthony family. 

On the investigation

The discovery includes a letter and affidavit from a Michigan inmate to the prosecution. Curtis Jackson wrote that Casey asked him about hiring a hitman. Jackson said that Casey “asked me in coded language if I knew of anyone who was willing to be paid to kill someone." Jackson also wrote that Casey asked about disposing of children and if he knew which types of poison were untraceable. Jackson said he met Casey and her ex-boyfriend Anthony Lazzaro through a pen pal.

Another document describes Casey’s reaction to television reports that a child’s body had been discovered near the Anthony family home on December 11, 2008.  Tammy Unser at the Orange County jail wrote, “She looked at the TV and immediately fell into the chair, doubling over and began to breath [sic] rapidly... [at] approximately 1140 she stated ‘Oh No’ after she heard the location of the news and that it was the body of a small child.”

Unser went on to write, “I asked her again if she was OK and she said yes, it was just too early to cry and she was not going to break down. She then changed the subject to football and began talking about the national championship game.”

Letters to Casey

The document release includes letters from Cindy Anthony.  In a note to her daughter from June 2009, she explained her frustration with the State Attorney’s Office.  Cindy wrote, “I really don't know how they can get away with sharing all of your private mail with the public. I don't care that the Sheriff's Office reads them, but where in the constitution does it state that the public has a right to read letters sent through the U.S. Postal Service."

Several of the letters released by the Attorney’s Office came from people with no relation to the case. Their names and addresses were made public.  Cindy wrote, "I certainly hope enough people will contact an attorney and file a class action lawsuit against the prosecutor's office."

OK, I'm confused again.  Cindy came home in a limo on the 15th....from where?  Was she in NYC prior to that and was just getting home?  I believe Amy's statement stated that the call came in at 3:30 am the 15th and Cindy showed up at home later that same day.  I still feel this is all her doing.

This creep came to my mind too, when I was reading Amy's report.  He always reminded me of that guy Latka, Andy Kaufman from the Taxi TV series, in that mug shot.  I wouldn't put a thing past him and who else would be able to get her personal cell phone number?  That is not an easy thing to get but of course Cindy and Jose had it, so it would of been very easy for this scum to get it and do something like that.  Even if it wasn't him, it was definitely someone from the Anthony's or the defense, who else would have her cell phone or care enough to call?  Hmmm....was her cell phone number part of public records by then?

Hi Monkeys! It's been nearly a year since I've posted and as someone who studies social media and checks out tons of websites, something unique about this one always keeps me returning from time to time. Probably the lovely sense of community.  The document dump brought me back here.  I love thumbing through email threads and random documents for some reason but I keep having a recurring question.

In the emails between MaryLouBee and Shirley Pleasea, Shirley talks about how George "has no formal education therefore he can't earn top dollar" or something to that effect.  Yet on his resume he has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the 1970s, I believe. Do you monkeys think his resume was a lie or there could possibly be some sort of criminal or felony history or just his laziness that prevented him from holding a job for very long? ::dogwag:: ::MonkeyDance:: ::piggy::

Casey Anthony’s grandmother could be crucial to the state’s case against the young mother, WESH-Ch. 2 explained tonight.

WESH’s Bob Kealing focused on candid e-mails that the grandmother, Shirley Plesea, provided to investigators. It was an interesting report for anyone who has been baffled by the Anthonys.

Kealing studied the e-mails between Plesea and her sister that reflected concerns about missing toddler Caylee. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Pleasea, the mother of Cindy Anthony, documented Cindy’s tears and anguish about not getting to see Casey in the summer of 2008. “Something is fishy. God knows what is going on,” Plesea wrote.

Later, Plesea wrote: “Casey keeps promising to come and bring Caylee, but never does.  Cindy hasn’t seen Caylee for three weeks.”

In another e-mail, Plesea wrote that she was “just out of words” about Casey’s behavior.

Caylee’s remains were found in December 2008.

Orlando attorney Richard Hornsby,  who provides analysis for WESH, said that Pleasea “basically served as a de facto  investigator for the state attorney’s office.”

For anyone who has followed the case and tried to understand the family, Plesea’s comments are invaluable.

A day late & a dollar short, well not really but I didnt post yesterday after the doc dump-I havent gotten thru it all due to being busy otherwise.   I admit to hysterically laughing at Cindy's attempt to set up Casey's defense thru her letters & ridiculous statements of her belief that Caylee is still alive & will be found.   The set up in her letters is so obvious, even if one were a rock!   Better yet Cindy's hope that the public would even entertain a "class action" suit against the prosecution over Casey's privacy being invaded is just as transparent & laughable (talk about scum being thick a thieves-Casey's defense team & family).   Word to Cindy, hey lunatic lady be careful what you ask for because I would venture to say that the majority of the public not of "Wray of sunshine" madness would just love to bring forward a class action suit but it wouldnt be against the prosecution....o no, that would be against you and your idiot husband for pain & suffering after having to endure your lies, volatile outbursts, incessant gum smacking! LOL       I certainly hope that these two sorry excuses for grandparents get criminally charged for the crimes they have committed & the continued perjury they will commit.

Im hearing Cheney Mason bloviate on JVM/HLN trying to minimize the doc dump & push the idea upon the public that the State is trying to poison the jury pool.   His arrogance & theatrics are shameful.  Im getting even more disgusted with JVM.   For example, the other day she asked why the entire Suburban area flooded from rain wasnt drained in AUGUST 2008 - I had to just shake my head over how ridiculous that was.   Based on a child being missing/suspected of being murdered, there was nothing in August 2008 to indicate that Caylee was indeed in those Suburban woods.  Moreover, Im fuming mad at Leonard Padilla...yea yea in the beginning of the case I thought he had some merit to what he knew or thought, however, that changed drastically approx a year a ago.    His constant "conspiracy theory" that LE knew where Caylee was is as mucked up as it gets....totally absurd, infuriating actually.  There is NO way any law enforcement agency would leave a body somewhere for months on end as the evidence would be deteriorating hourly much less longer.   There is NO way they would put off nailing down evidence against a child murderer, just no way!   The reality of all this bunk & bulk is that this skank, despite all the psycho bunk & bulk would have never rented murder movies with a boyfriend the very evening a child "reportedly" went missing nor would she have gone 30 days without telling a sole that her child was missing, period.   The mere fact that her parents & brother were constantly in touch with her & repetitively asked to see Caylee tells us right there that even if she had some sort of mental break that she was hit in the face with it on a regular basis & I personally defy any psychologist that would insinuate that it wouldnt have been enough to jar any recall from her over an extensive period of time (month).

I havent read anything on the board since Friday & not done going thru the doc dump, more later when I have time.

Me thinks that she had the hots for baez! they did spend alot of alone time when she was out on bail and at his office all day every day. I found it interesting there was a $22,000 line of credit at the first of the 08 year then it was gone. Then there were all those bounced checks in June, July of 08. One I noticed was an electonic check by KC to AT& T which was for $377.33 which bounced 4 times. Is that the same amount she took from her grandmother?  I guess if Cindy's checks were bouncing then she had to take grannys and then finally Annie's.

I am not sure, but I believe at one time it was released by LE on one of the documents that he had no college at all and there was some question as to if he even graduated from high school. Back when he was with the sheriff's dept in Ohio they only required a GED and for some reason, I thought I read that was all he had and that it might be questionable.  Yes, I think his resume is totally bogus because he was not listed with the college he claimed and if you notice his age and the years didn't work. That was what got some moneys checking it.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Newly released documents showed on Wednesday that a member of Casey Anthony's family laid the groundwork that could help prosecutors make their case against her.

According to investigators, Cindy Anthony's mother, Shirley Plesea, said she wanted to share e-mails that she had exchanged with her sister.

“It gives the state a window into the family, (which) the family might not freely and candidly be revealing to the State Attorney's Office,” defense attorney Richard Hornsby said.

Hornsby said that 11 days before Caylee disappeared, Plesea talked about Cindy exhausting her savings to cover credit card expenses run up by daughter, Casey, and husband, George. A month later, Plesea noted that Cindy Anthony had not gotten to see Caylee since they visited the child's grandfather on Father's Day.
Four days later, Plesea said, Cindy Anthony found her daughter and called authorities to report Caylee missing.

Hornsby said the state will argue that money conflicts, tensions with Cindy Anthony about raising Caylee and desire to hurt her mother were Casey Anthony's motives for killing the child.

LP needs to be quiet.  Why did LE treat him the way they did during the Little Econ River search at JBP?  TM had already searched there for one thing and I agree that they didn't want LP to insert himself into their investigation. An no way would LE let a body sit there to decay to the point that the body did. Losing valuable skin tissue on purpose (if any was left by August), no way.

Next we will hear the defense claim that LE had the body, had taken duct tape from the Anthony home, placed it over Caylee's skull and then placed her in the laundry and trash bags that they also took from the home and put Caylee in the woods near Casey's home, so they could frame this on Casey because they didn't want to look elsewhere and so they didn't.   ::MonkeyRoll::

Hi Turbo.  FWIW, I went to the Niles McKinley Library and looked up George in the yearbooks.  He had a senior picture in the correct year - but I know that doesn't guarantee that he graduated.   ::MonkeyTongue::

I do not know if there is any correlation to the letters coming and out and his visits ceasing and his leaving the law firm....but it would make sense if it was.

Good morning, Monkeys.  I believe NOTHING the Anthonys say anymore. What I do believe is that George would lie on his application to make himself look better.  These people puff themselves up with imaginary talents, and pretend to themselves and the world that they are superior to hide their multitude of defects.  I cringe when I hear them speak and write, trying to sound educated, and ultimately sounding ignorant and crude. 
On another note, I was thinking about Cindy and George's penchant for "other partners" within their marriage.  It wouldn't surprise me a bit that she has targeted one of her new "church friend's husbands for comfort.  I have absolutely nothing to base this on but Cindy appears to need male contact.  (Remember her inappropriate rubbing of Lee and Rob D.  I can't say his last name in conjunction with inappropriate rubbing, it's just not nice.)  Her martyrdom worked with Dom Casey, and I see her resemblance to Casey in latching onto a man. This is pure speculation on my part, but the A's seem to have a very loose interpretation of wedding vows.  I'm just sayin'...

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Oh, the humiliation. You won`t believe how this once "it" couple went from $10 million to less than zero.

But first, a massive document dump in the Casey Anthony trial reveals a shocking allegation. It`s made in a letter to the prosecutor from an inmate named Curtis Jackson. He claimed to be an associate of Casey and ex-boyfriend Tony Lazaro from back in 2007 and 2008.

In it he`s claiming to have known Casey before little Caylee vanished. He says, quote, "She asked me in coded language if I knew anyone who was willing to be paid to kill someone. She asked me for instructions as to how to properly dispose of a body. She discussed different types of poison and wanted my opinion on ones that are untraceable," end quote.

Joining me on the phone, the distinguished attorney, Cheney Mason, one of Casey Anthony`s lawyers who has called us saying he wants to clarify this. Take it away, Cheney.

J. CHENEY MASON, ONE OF CASEY ANTHONY`S LAWYERS: To tell you I hope this guy`s a state`s witness in this case because he`s -- to say unreliable would be at a minimum. I have a file in my office that we refer to as "that file" that we put this stuff in from all these letters we get from around everywhere.

The bottom line is there`s absolutely no truth to his claims. There`s no credibility to it whatsoever. And it`s just one of many of those people that would like to get themselves involved in the case somewhere.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: So why is the prosecution putting this in a document dump? Are they trying to poison the jury pool?

MASON: Well, I don`t know if they`re trying to. We have a very bizarre interpretation of this Florida public records law that says everything that`s a public record has to be given out to you and everybody else. This stuff is obviously not public record. It has no relevancy to anything whatsoever.

But ok, so they put it out there. If they`re trying to poison the pool, so be it. We already got a change of venue. I really don`t think the state is doing it -- I think it`s our law that needs to be changed. And hopefully we can do that.

You know, these types of letters, these sort of claims are just -- you know, we get something every week from some nut somewhere claiming they knew something and write to lawyers to say, "I know the truth about what happened. I know how Caylee died and where she died, blah, blah, blah. And there`s no truth to any of it.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Well, Cheney, we want to thank you for coming on and again, you are invited anytime we discuss Casey Anthony. We want to be fair. Thank you so much for clarifying that. And again come back --
