Hey Bleachedblack if you are here, That Corona hoof dressing is great. I have been using it on my legs, feet and hands. So has hubby. He really likes it. We have given small containers to friends. Most are wanting more.
I had been sending the link to the website and they are out of the smaller size. I think I must not be the only person or Monkey to take your advise.Anyway thanks for the advise. I am no longer shedding.

Hello Klaas and everyone,

I was wondering if you are going to watch the Academy Awards this evening. On the west coast, it begins at 6 pm.  What time is it broadcast on the east coast?

This morning at 10 am I went to the drug store and grocery store. I decided to go to the stores east of where I live and I made a good choice. I was at Sunset and Gower and could see from there that Vine Street is closed off. Coming home, I saw that Hollywood Blvd. was closed from Vine to LaBrea.

There must be a huge amount of security presence.

Are you going to watch?  I usually follow the awards meticulously and see every movie nominated by the Academy. This year, I have not been interested. I was not even interested last year. But in 2005, I went to one nominated movie and after seeing Million Dollar Baby, I knew that was the one and I didn't go to see any other movies as nothing could compare to Million Dollar Baby. Hillary Swank won best actress, Morgan Freeman for best supporting actor, and Clint Eastwood for best director.

LV, I am not going to watch... I made the mistake of watching about 15 minutes of the Grammy's and of course it was the part where Natalie Maines decided to say that she had just made quite a few tv's change the channel and "oh well".... and I expect nothing more of the Grammy's than more political discourse from people that don't live everyday lives.... people who think that because of their money and power nothing can ever touch them...

This is a link to the Hoof Dressing. It isn't really a liquid though. It is a cream/paste. Rich in lanolin, but easier to apply than lanolin from the tube ie that used by mothers who are breast feeding. My beauty supplies either staight from the maternity section or the feed store Yikes. But I really spend way to much on most of my cosmetics I swear it's true.

Mishy the Lounge thread is titled  "Product Review"  Lots of good hints but brand names are different here but I have got a few good ideas from there.

I have to say that CBB's recommendation of Aquaphor has really been great for me...

msmarple, we have used bag balm for years but it is so greasy. I also know I would never be able to get hubby to wear socks to bed.

This Corona hoof dressing is like bag balm in that it does not take much but this this does rub into the skin and feels good not greasy. It has lots of lanolin which is what Bleached says makes it work.

The male friends we have given samples of say it is so fast working . Turns there hands soft in a couple of days. These are contracter friends. They are working outside alot this winter.

Yo, monkeys! Boy, am I glad right now that I have quit smoking. I've got a burning cough that would be much, much worse if I were still supporting Camel investors.

I have not bought the Corona Hoof care yet  because the store for it is a bit too far when it is so cold. There was a product that sold at the sewing store and it was used as a hand cream for humans, but the actual use was udder care for cows. In the meantime, I am using cocoa butter by the vat.  I have seen and bought the mane care shampoo. It was also good and you could really tell as I had fairly long hair at the time.

Another thing that is good in the winter to take is cod liver oil in the capsules.

Actually, I have found that plain cholesterol hair conditioner from a jar helps dry skin quite a bit, and it absorbs fast. I can't stand greasy, oily substances on my skin.

Bahamas could suffer Aruba's fate

The fear that The Bahamas' reputation will be as severely dented as that of the island of Aruba, has prompted many concerned American citizens to bombard The Guardian with letters of warning.

In a period of four days, The Nassau Guardian was flooded with over one dozen letters from worried American citizens writing to voice their fears that the nation of sun, sand and sea may soon become a victim of the Anna Nicole Smith saga.

As the details involving Anna Nicole Smith's burial unfold, the scrutiny on The Bahamas and its involvement has also increased. In one letter, The Bahamas is strongly urged to remember that tourism from the United States is a "huge, huge" part of our economy.

"I sure do hope The Bahamas does not become the new Aruba in the eyes of the American tourists who frequent your nation," read a letter from Washington, DC resident Cameron Phillips. "That island suffered tremendously because of the appearance of obstruction of justice and corruption in the Natalee Holloway [disappearance] case."

In the case of Aruba, the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway while she was on a class trip to the island, caused it's tourism sector to suffer a six percent decline in visitors to the island in 2006.

A number of negative travel campaigns surrounded the island after many in the US disapproved of the way the Aruban government conducted the investigation by not opening their legal system to the US laws.

Some of the letters sent to The Guardian addressed the issue of the Bahamian legal system, one even urging the government not to "cave in" to strong arm tactics while "the eyes of the world are on The Bahamas."

A letter from Michele Colete, an administrator at xxx.refugees.xxx, stated that she and many members of her message board believed that the laws of other countries should not be ignored just because an American citizen is involved, similar to what some suggested happened in the Natalee Holloway case.

"During the Natalee Holloway case, we had Aruban and Dutch posters as well as American who were furious at the legal system of Aruba being slammed or denigrated as far as their laws went, and it's so helpful to get the facts about how another country works rather than one-sided innuendo," Ms Colete wrote. "I wish the media in the US would pay attention to your country's laws and explain them to the rest of the world rather than assuming that only American law matters for cases that are clearly under Bahamian jurisdiction."

It wasn't Aruba's laws we objected to.  It was their own disregard for it in favor of Paulus and Joran van der Sloot, as well as the lack of an honest investigation and communication with the family and media.   Aruba, One Happy Island, We All Lie.  Aruba, you know where Natalee is.  Please tell us.

I agree.  They lied, edited statements, changed search warrants, disregarded questioning certain suspects and allow them to flee their country at a crucial time in the investigation and all because they were following the laws. :roll:

I was thinking the same thing about the laws of other countries, Aruba case in point. I have no problem with Dutch law from what I can understand of it, just the way that the Dutch on Aruba manipulated it or ignored it and then their spokespeople tried to defend what they had done to give a free pass to murderers. It was the people working in the ALE and the prosecutors office and the politicians who buggered the case. Aruba and this case was not given a passing grade by the Dutch in Holland.

Nor do i. My problem is with the Aruban form of it and the uneven application of same. Arrests can be made, houses and cars can be searched and forensics can be done with little or no evidence. This has been described to us as an advantage of the system. Fine, but why was this advantage used against the Security Guards and not J2K?

The *strategic release* and *surveillance* excuses make no sense in a missing persons case. This was not a spy ring, it was 3 morons with an alibi proved false within hours of it's telling.

Their cuisine is very limited indeed.  Only vegetables I have seen in recipes are potatoes, onions and cabbage.  Boring!  Most unappealing recipe I have seen was Pig's Face and Cabbage.  Although cats may like it?

Pig's face and cabbage. ugh. Yes it is a very boring type of cooking and cuisine. Worse yet, and I have eaten this because it was put in front of me on a plate at a celebration thing was Haggis. The hostess had gone to a great deal of trouble to obtain it and it would have been very rude to not eat it and not comment on it in a positive way. She gave me the name of the Old Sod Deli where she obtained it, but I threw the paper away promptly upon leaving her house. I do not drink at all these days, so I had to eat it sober. No wonder the Celts are known for their drinking prowess !

Tib, Have you ever heard of an Aussie entertainer, singer songwriter named Eric Bogle ? He has performed in Canada and I always loved to see him in person. I believe he is a transplanted Scotsman ?

I can eat Haggis - my mother used to make it for St Andrews Day and Burns Night festivities and my father would pipe it in for the Burns Address, followed by plates of mashed taters and neeps  (turnips)  She always said she would not put anything into it that she would not eat herself so it did not contain all the gruesome bits.  Mostly liver, oatmeal, onions etc.  Cooked in a cloth like Christmas pudding. Very tasty.  I am not sure I would like to try a bought one though or even the tinned stuff you see in specialist delis.  I would prefer to know exactly what were the ingredients.  Scots have a much more varied cuisine even though they would have been as impoverished as the Irish in those days.

This Haggis was made here by a deli that specialized in the traditional Scot items, meat pies, haggis, etc. I've never seen it in a tin. If I did I am sure I would quicken my pace and get away from it.

Yes I have seen him perform and I enjoy a lot of his songs.  A favourite here is "And the band played Waltzing Matilda" which gets played around Anzac Day every year.  He is a transplanted Scotsman and very down to earth. In this song, she said there was actually no famine. We have many Irish bars and pubs and the ones that aren't Irish become Irish on St. Patty's Day.  It's a tradition.  Bars in the downtown and just north of it are very crowded.  Traffic nightmare after work that day if you're heading north of the downtown area.  Lots of restaurants have corned beef and cabbage that day.

I just learned that there will be a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE on MARCH 3 - the day of the monkey Lunch Date in Atlanta ... and hey, we just happen to have a planatarium and observatory, and it's FREE. ETA is 6:00 - 8:30 pm.

I was asked to give a thank you speech tonight at our City Council by the man who got the ball rolling on a city ordinance. (It was also televised on cable :lol:) in thanking our City Council as being the second city in America to pass an city ordinance giving free parking at curbside parking meters and municipal structures to Veterans' with special license plates (Congressional Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, American POW,Legion of Valor and Pearl Harbor Survivor). This was the 1st anniversary of the law.

A friend of mine in the city's Jewish War Veterans started the effort 3 yrs ago and he says I helped him a lot (all I did was write letters, emails, spread the word etc)

Anyway, in my speech giving thanks to all the important parties I pointed out how one person with a great idea, then a City Council and et al can make a difference. I also said that information in blogs such as scaredmonkeys.com is very important at spreading the word.

Now, remember I am about 20 feet from the City Council. The Vice-Mayor, also former Mayor, eyes lit up so large and his smile was so big when I mentioned scaredmonkeys.com I thought I'd loose my place in the speech.

Just thought that was neat and wanted to share.

VIP Management Services BV exists for ten years and is established in the Bon Bini Business Center at the Schottegatweg Oost. There are still 120 employees left, confirmed top executive Alistair Assheton.

The VIP-management has sent an internal e-mail to all her employees today, inviting them to a nine o’clock meeting. The employees were divided into two groups, and one group had to attend the meeting in the Hilton Hotel, and the other group had to go the meeting in the Floris Suite. The employees that went to the Hilton Hotel were told that they are still employed, while those that went to Floris Suite were dismissed.

They were told that they will get a redundancy of one week for each year of service, the remaining vacation days, and two weeks notice paid.

For all sorts of reasons, VIP.com has to downsize, said Assheton. One of the reasons for this is the new legislation that the US introduced against sports betting and internet gambling. ORANJESTAD – Amigoe reported in his edition of last Saturday that tbc-infection was detected in a man that has been straying illegally for quite some time in Aruba already.  Amigoe got this article from Bon Dia.  Spokesperson of Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH), Bob Harms indicated this morning that the complete story is a concoction.  

“None of our specialist knows anything about this.  Besides, the hospital has a responsibility to maintain.  When one of our lung specialists has a slight suspicion that a patient has open or active tbc, that person is quarantined in the hospital, and not somewhere else.  As a precaution, the patient will also receive treatment immediately.”

It takes a minimum of 8 days to diagnose tbc, because it takes a lab test to confirm this.    

That according to Bon Dia, the man was going to be deported, it also not true.  Rudolf Kelly, head of Instituto Alarma y Seguridad Aruba (IASA), says that his department doesn’t know anything about the deportation an illegal person with tbc.  Kelly says that entire story is a hoax.

Thankee, Anna! Unfortunately, I could only hold up for 3-4 hours.  :cry:  I feel terrible. My throat hurts even more with every cough and my temp is over 100 F.  :oops: This monkey is going to bed.

Why are you dissing poutine?  Sure, it's a heart attack in a bowl, just don't eat it every day.  I believe Quebec is the birthplace of that culinary feast of french fries, gravy and cheese curds.  Every restaurant here sells it.  Combine that with a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and you got a meal.

I am not dissing Poutine.  :oops: Or am I ?  :oops: I have always found it to be an odd combo. I think it is the CURD word. Never did like those curdy lumps in the food. I considered myself an abused child when they made me eat cottage cheese and sour cream. La Belle Province is the birthplace of poutine. Last week, there was a FP in the National Post about poutine going to Manhatten.
I haven't had a Montreal smoked meat samich in ages !  Oh those are good ! !

There were " food war of wills " in my house.
I won at breakfast because I had to leave to go to school.
Supper, well,  I remember sitting at the table until bedtime and the stuff on the plate just got worse lookin' .
To this day I have a hard time looking at a " shaky " undercooked  fried egg.

I know that I do have some serious food issues.
So does my SIL. Same cause.
Early childhood.
No one forces the little kiddo to eat. But parents in the olden days did ???

I hope no one forces any little kiddos to eat these days. I was always a very small child who didn't have a large appetite. In elementary school the teachers used to make me sit in the cafeteria until I finished lunch, but I couldn't hold all that food, so I spent a long time sitting in the cafeteria.  :( It finally took my pediatrician ordering them to leave me alone before they stopped trying to force feed me. Now we know that forcing children to ignore their body's signals that it's full is one of the causes of obesity.

Kat...have a sister that used to...and still does....look like a scavenger at meal times....she saved us all....when Mom went to make coffee, she ate everything we did not want....Dad never told....!  She is the skinny bird of our group.... :D

On the TB...Aruba is so full of bs. Another lie ofcourse to cover-up to protect what little tourism they have left. Talk about a possible pandemic.

And how could it really be traced back to Aruba with people going in and out of there from South America, Central America and the few tourist from all over the world. Including the cruise lines who port and stop over. This is truly sad when they feel they have to cover-up to protect tourism. Like the dengue fever, malaria and other outbreaks they have there.

I think the UN needs to be on high alert on the Health issues that can be spread out of Aruba. Seriously!

Why would a news paper make something up like that. Bon Dia could be sued. I highly doubt they would risk their company and reputation over reporting TB in their area. Alarming the public and their readers is a responsiblity they owe to everyone. Same goes with Amigo. I am sure once they heard of it from Bon Dia they did their own investigation and learned of it as well. Now Aruba is back tracking and covering up to save tourism. Unbelievable!

As to scuba- Our dil got our son scuba lessons a few years ago. He also does deep sea. It really worries me. I always worry about the bends.

She also got him flying lessons. Of course I worried about that also. They try to out do each other on there presents. LOL

I do not have a weight issue, I was always very thin ( see the ribs ) and I wonder why ???  :o  :o until the past few years. Just need to remove about ten pounds right now.
There is alot of attention being paid to childhood obesity because it is a serious issue with heart problems and diabeties. But I think it has to do with all the prepared food we consume because of the lives we lead.

Beth Twitty addressed this very issue at Bridgewater College Monday night. The safe traveling tips Twitty gave come at a very important time for upcoming spring breakers. Beth Twitty has never given up hope for the search of her daughter. But as she continues to follow up on leads, Twitty has also become an advocate for safe travel, making sure young students are educated about where they are going so a bad situation doesn't happen.

Natalee Holloway's mother Beth Twitty encourages that students go after every opportunity they get and to travel abroad as much as possible.

“It's just about making a plan, getting educated, investigating the infrastructure of the country you're visiting, so you can just be proactive instead of reactive if something tragic should happen," says Beth Holloway Twitty.

Many students are familiar with Natalee's story, and with spring break a few days away this really hits home.

"That that can be me, it's not just anybody, I've gotten in a car with people I don't know and gotten back to campus, it's just the thing, and it can happen to anybody, not just a random person with blonde hair," says Hope Stanley, a Bridgewater student.

Twitty told students to never tell strangers what day they leave the country, and to make sure they never leave clubs alone.

"If I put myself in a situation like that I'm going to have to think back to what she said and that's going to impact my situation and my circumstances," says Stanley.

Twitty says it's too late for her family to be educated, but it's not too late for others.

"I just want people to just to make a plan and just be more prepared when you leave our borders," says Twitty.

Auburn University is working with curriculum in conjunction with the safe travel foundation, a foundation that Twitty is starting up to educate others about safe traveling.

Kat, BT - When I was a kid I couldn't eat "white" things; just seeing a bowl of mashed potatoes or white rice gagged me.

White bread had to be well toasted. Eggs scrambled. Oatmeal yes, grits no.

Plus, NO milk or other dairy products. Mother used to give me half milk, half coffee, in a glass, with sugar, just to get some milk down me. I only ate home-made ice cream (fortunately, we did this often during the summer).

My dad would try to make me eat these things, but my mom helped me out ...  :lol:  Poor woman, trying to please such markedly different tastes.

I'm a very adventurous eater now, but still not much on dairy items (not even butter or whipped cream, and I drink my coffee black).

Wow, I gotta have my white rice. I love Jasmin sticky white rice and I love mashed potato's with gravy. Or a baked potato fully loaded. Yum!

"Poutine" sounds like a French word to me; is it also somehow an Irish dish? (Or have I missed a memo  :lol:  ??)

I have made the (white) Irish soda bread, just as an experiment. To me, corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, and/or turnip roots - the "boiled dinner" - represents Irish food and I used to make that sometimes for St. Patrick's Day.

When I first read the "Poutine"  I thought you guys were saying Pootang  :shock:  :lol:   That'll teach me to read more carefully! :lol:  :lol:

the cheese curds and gravy. It is a food that originated in Montreal. I suppose there are other varieties. Gourmet poutine ? I have been at restaurants here where ppl have ordered it. It is not bad smelling or anything, but it has more to do with me and my food things. I eat fries. I eat gravy. I eat cheese. I do not like curds or lumpy things and gravy on cheese does not appeal to me. It is a food that was unique to Quebec but is now being introduced to the rest of the world.
Strange thing, when I was in Quebec a couple of years ago, I didn't see it ? Or maybe I did because we did eat at a couple of fast food places
but overlooked it. ????

I am the same way - love brownies and like nuts but, please, don't put them together.  They belong apart.  Same goes for chocolate covered raisins - what a waste of chocolate and raisins...  
Poutine, pronounced POO TEEN is best experienced at a diner in a small town in Quebec.  That's where you get a heaping deep plate full of dark brown french fries swimming in gravy and topped off with an inch of solid cheese curds.  They don't ask you what do you want in the poutine (onions, foie gras, smoked meat) because... that ain't poutine.  In Montreal; the fries are golden, the gravy is a topping and the cheese curds are runny and it is served in a soup bowl.  It's poutine lite - not the real thing.  I don't eat it a lot, but just knowing that Chez Diane on rue Principale is only 5 minutes away gives me peace of mind.  
It's 60 degrees fahrenheit in the sun today and all the snow is melting.

You were in Saint-Sauveur, if I remember correctly.  That place is a little too fancy smancy for the real poutine.  All the kids, from Montreal,  who grew up on french fries, gravy and cheese curds (and Pepsi and Mae West) go to "Sauveur" to walk around in ski outfits and eat at Thai restaurants.  You have to go down the road to Chez Johnny in St. Jerome.  Look for a restaurant with people sitting at the counter smoking and watching the TV in the corner.  If the front window has huge stencils of hotdogs, hamburgers and steaming plates of poutine - you are at the right place.

What do I wake up to this morning?  Gravy on cheese!   I love gravy and I love cheese but cannot imagine the two together.  
Just to get even I will post one of our famous snacks which is pretty well isolated to South Australia, thank goodness.

Unique to the state of South Australia the pie floater is a minced meat pie floating is a sea of thick split pea soup and topped liberally with tomato sauce, which is more savoury that American ketchup. Typically, they are only available extremely late at night from caravans (pie carts?) parked around inner Adelaide.

I really liked Saint-Sauveur. We mostly ate where we stayed and then went out later ( walking ) . It was so peaceful. The shops were very overpriced, but I did get a deal on a very nice brooch.
We had to hang around Dorval for hours and I did see places like you described. We have our places here too for the fries. Real potatoes, lots of grease, tons of vinegar and salt. There is a place where you can get a nickel bag ( $5.00 worth or fries ) that will feed everyone you know, past present and future. For me, a once a year thing in spring when Greasy Mike's or whatever his name is opens.
It is still cold here, but not as bad. Haven't seen the sun for days.

I just wanted to add that as far as the Deepak emails, I do not know if I beleive in those or not. But I do know that this wonder woman character, did not bring them forward in an attempt to help Natalee's case. WW thought that the Deepak emails would prove him innocent. If they even were real, they were just a smokescreen IMO. WW has been slamming Beth, the Twittys etc. Even when WW did come here it was to argue. WW has all kind of theories, I call them garbage.  And just so that WW knows, this is not the entire forum's opinion, it is my opinion.

Aruban Brothers Want Natalee Holloway Lawsuit Dismissed
 
LOS ANGELES -- A lawsuit filed in Los Angeles against two Aruban brothers by the parents of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway should be dismissed on grounds the case has no connection to California, the siblings' lawyers argue in court papers obtained Tuesday.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge George Wu will consider the motion brought on behalf of Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, but no date was immediately set. The next scheduled hearing in the case is April 2.

The brothers' attorney, Kristina M. Beck, filed court papers last Tuesday in support of the dismissal.

The Kalpoes and another Aruban resident, Joran van der Sloot, have been the subject of scrutiny by Aruban authorities and the U.S. media. All three were arrested in connection with the Holloway case and later released.

Beck's court papers state that an important ruling occurred Jan. 24, when another Los Angeles Superior Court judge, Edward A. Ferns, ruled that the wrongful death claim of the teen's parents against the Kalpoes is substantially different from the siblings' defamation case against "Dr. Phil" McGraw.

"These actions do not arise from the same or substantially identical transactions, happenings or events...," Ferns wrote, in ruling that both cases should not be kept before the same judge.

The Kalpoes sued McGraw and CBS Television on Dec. 13, alleging they were defamed in a Sept. 15, 2005, show dealing with the still-unsolved case. Although the Kalpoe brothers had been released from Aruban police custody, the "Dr. Phil" episode suggested they gave Holloway a date rape drug and had non- consensual group sex with her, according to their lawsuit.

The episode also implied the siblings helped kill Holloway and dispose of her body, according to the lawsuit.

The Kalpoes and van der Sloot have maintained that they were not involved in her disappearance and did not have sex with her.

In addition to defamation, the Kalpoes' suit alleges invasion of privacy, emotional distress, fraud, deceit and civil conspiracy.

Natalee Holloway's parents, Elizabeth Ann Twitty of Alabama and Dave E. Holloway of Mississippi, filed a wrongful death suit against the Kalpoes the next day, even though their daughter's body has never been found and Aruban authorities have not determined if she is dead or alive.

Natalee Holloway was vacationing with friends on the Caribbean island resort when the 18-year-old disappeared the night of May 30, 2005.

Twitty and Dave Holloway, who are divorced, maintain that by bringing an action against McGraw in Los Angeles, the Kalpoes voluntarily submitted themselves to the Los Angeles Superior Court jurisdiction.

But in her court papers, Beck argues that Twitty and Holloway are not part of the defamation case; that the alleged misconduct by the defendants in the lawsuits occurred in two entirely different locations -- Aruba and California; and that one suit involves wrongful death and the other defamation.

In support of her motion, Beck attached to her court papers a declaration by the Kalpoe brothers' mother, Kemwattie Ramirez, stating that her sons live with her in Aruba and have no ties to California.

"Neither Deepak nor Satish has ever traveled to California, or anywhere within the United States, for business or pleasure," according to their mother, who also said her sons have no business, employment of financial ties to California.

Twitty and Dave Holloway also filed a wrongful death suit last year in New York against van der Sloot and his father, but a judge there also threw it out for lack of jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, a motion is set before Judge Ferns on Thursday in the defamation case.

Although both lawsuits are not involved with one another, it all falls back to the same denomiator. "Natalee"  And it always will.

Like many others on Aruba, they have Florida or USA POBox addresses or use someone elses in the USA. I was told by someone in Aruba he has a Florida POBox and uses it to keep from paying taxes or higher taxes.
I take it as a use for money laundering but they will never admit to that.

This was started on an earlier thread a couple of days ago by San or SB, can’t remember for sure but I know I wanted to weigh in and this is the first chance I’ve had.  The question was about what PIMPs meant.
In my opinion, a PIMP is a person whose mission is to exploit women for personal gain or gratification. PIMPs is just the plural of PIMP.
In the traditional sense, PIMPs controlled their women thru drug addiction, then prostituting them on the open market for personal gain.
The young Dutchboys in Aruba took this to a higher level, a more high tech sort of thing considering their long range goals weren’t in the real PIMP business by definition.  But they were bored on the small island and looking for a way to vent and fill all their idle time.  So they developed a little scam of using drugs to control young tourist girls, probably filming them while they are passed out and selling the videos to pornsites.
So in that same sense, they saw themselves as PIMPs, traditionally speaking in that they are exploiting young women for the same self personal gain and gratification.  Hence the Club name they are so proud of.
Natalee OD’d and their little scam exposed.
Now their websites have been removed, and they’re all just innocent young boys being boys according to Joe Taco-blow.

Yea but...Beth was directly quoted about 50 times in the defamation filing. Hopefully common sense is not over-ruled by some legal mumbojumbo in this argument.

The attorneys request to dismiss is to be expected.  I'm not surprised at all.  I would have been surprised if they hadn't filed the request.

Beth has never contended there was a connection between the 2 cases.

The basis for filing the suit was that since the Kalpoes chose the forum of California to file a suit, they came under its jurisdiction.

I think it should work.  But I have as much faith in a California judge as I did in a New York judge, to rule in Natalee's favor, which is to say, no faith at all.  Both places have MASSIVE under-the-table ties to Aruba through the entertainment and travel industry, and the money trail will win out. In fact, I am surprised that California hasn't already told Beth to hit the road.

Folks, this case is driven by sociocultural and political themes that very few people in this country understand.

Suffice it to say that Natalee is taking on people who have zero use whatsoever for someone of her Middle American background, on their own turf, and she is threatening their livelihoods and the $$$ of some powerful folks in some of the world's most sordid and scandalous business concerns. It has been a stacked deck against the family from the beginning.

OT...

I am having trouble re-sizing some pictures I took with my digital camera. I put the card into my tower and the pictures are so huge that you can't see the whole thing. A friend once told me how to save them in a certain program so that it would resize it to email to people. Does anybody have any advice? TIA@

Often times digital cameras come with software, did yours?

I'm not sure Klaas. There's some other stuff that came with it, like a printer and then something that helps the pictures get on the printer or something weird like that...(can you tell I haven't thoroughly checked it out?)  What kind of software am I looking for? A disk or something? If so, I don't have one of those...

ALso, my digital camera has a delay on it...when I snap the picture it doesn't get the picture I want most of the time (mainly because my daughter won't stay still). Is this something that can be adjusted, ya think?

It would be a disc/cd that you would download to your PC.

There might be something, but it would be a software program.  I can't think of one that comes with Windows XP off the top of my head though.

Edited to add:  WindowsXP is the operating system and different manufacturers add different software programs.

You might try downloading Google's Picasa software.  It is free and has many photo edit features.  I'm sure you could resize and email with it.

We've heard so many times from Aruba that there'd be action in the case and nothing.  I hope the Dutch are finding the holes in the investigation and plugging some of them.  

I think one of our local Aldermen (alderperson?) is from Aruba.  The feds have been poking around our city for a couple of years and indicting various officials on corruption charges.  One of the most recent was accused of corruption and supposedly is romantically involved with a leader of a major street gang.  When the FBI showed up at her door early one morning, she refused to answer the door.  They knew she was there so they broke a window and arrested her.  Hasn't gone to trial yet.  Today was election day for local officials and, because in this great country you are innocent until proven guilty, she ran for Alderman of her district again.  She lost.  She was on TV yelling 'THIS IS A CONSPIRACY'.   :shock: I'm thinking she's from Aruba and her real name is Croes.  Not so far fetched when you consider that her first name is Arenda (or something close to that).

I was just watching the show Cold Case Files and Mark Fuhrman was being interviewed and he said regarding the Martha Moxley murder that the Skakel's thought they would outsmart everybody and Flim-Flam everybody and it all blew up in their face.

Sounds like this case doesn't it.

File and Folder tasks... this is the one you want... in the choices, it says email pictures, you can click on one or a few by holding down the shift key and it asks you if you want to make the pix smaller .Say yes and it does it. The rest happens.

Nearly two years ago, Mississippi teenager Natalee Holloway mysteriously went missing while on a class trip to the quaint Caribbean Island of Aruba.

Her disappearance drew curious eyes from all over the world to the small vacation country with just around 100,000 residents and riveted everyone to the television set. Aruban natives, American citizens and people from countries all over the globe wondered what happened to the beautiful 18-year-old with a bright future ahead of her on a seemingly harmless vacation.

"I think people are fascinated with what happens in Caribbean islands to Americans," Rita Cosby, one of MSNBC's top reporters who covered Holloway's disappearance from the very beginning. "People are fascinated with what happens in these beautiful islands when people come here whether it's to live or for vacation and something goes awry."

Almost two years later and over one thousand miles away, Cosby is on another highly publicized story in a country slightly bigger than Aruba in size and population. However, this case started out a few months before her arrival and involves the well known former Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith.

Smith came to The Bahamas to have her second child in the Summer of 2006, however things took quite a tragic turn for the reality TV star when her 20-year-old son died in her Doctors Hospital room just three days after she gave birth to her daughter, Dannielynn Hope.

After news of such a tragedy occurring in The Bahamas circulated both locally and internationally, the small nation of islands was the center focus of much media attention, the likes of which the country has never experienced.

"I know the Bahamian people are ready for all the [international] media to leave," Kaylisa Moss, a Fox network producer said.

However, after Smith's ill-fated death while on a brief trip to Florida nearly three weeks ago the media scrutiny has only gotten more intense, and the country has had to play host to scores of international reporters, who have picked up the story and are now taking it to an unforeseen ending.

"The Bahamas, I think, could be the key area where all of this could be solved," Cosby said. "I talked to a lot of people. The little baby is here, Anna Nicole Smith lived here the last few months of her life and a lot of people are watching to see what the Bahamian court will do because they feel if there is any court that has the jurisdiction to order a DNA test to determine who the father is and therefore (the court has jurisdiction to decide) who should have custody."

Since then, many have worried if The Bahamas will now have a fate similar to that of Aruba, which noted a six percent decline in arrivals in the year 2006. And its has been speculated that the bigger Caribbean nation may follow on the same negative path in which the latter country has trodden.

"If you remember, Aruba took a terrible hit of the coverage surrounding that affair, " Attorney Brian Moree said last night at a public forum on the lessons learned from the Anna Nicole saga. "Aruba is what we call a civil law jurisdiction, which is very different to the common law and to the system in America and because it was so different, I'm not sure the American journalists ever really understood."

In adapting to the Bahamian legal system, members of the international press like Cosby and Moss said they doubt The Bahamas can ever be viewed in the same light as Aruba because at the very beginning some things set the two cases apart.

"I don't think that The Bahamas is going to be marked the way Aruba was marked because it seems as if with that story it was a native who had done something to Natalee Holloway, but here in The Bahamas it's completely different [in that] it's outsiders coming into The Bahamas and this is the place where they landed," Moss, who is also a Bahamian citizen, said.

But when it came to the laws and court proceedings of The Bahamas, as it pertains to a closed custody battle for Smith's baby, Cosby conceded that her coverage of the case was a little more difficult than it would have been in the U S.

"As a journalist [having a closed court and gag order] makes our job much more difficult. I was in Florida watching everything inside the courthouse and everything was so transparent [and] as a journalist that made everything interesting and lively to cover," Cosby said.

She added that she believed The Bahamas could never become like Aruba because, from what she has observed, "the Bahamian government is trying to be fair to all sides. I think they certainly don't want the appearance of anything questionable," Cosby said. " I think Bahamian officials have tried to be very transparent and fair to all sides, and I think in the end The Bahamas is still going to be a sort of shining light in the Caribbean."

I had a bit of insomnia last night and decided to see if I could remember or do a power point presentation. I did a simple one, one picture. With titles, etc.  All by myself, like a big girl.
I want to put some pix by category... gymnastics over the years of GD, .etc into a nice power point presentation , burn it to a CD and have GD Television. I can do that with pix on the camera, but there are pix sent to me that were never on this camera.  I have an assistant for the burning and the other tech aspects of this because he wasn't sure about something or other, some geeky stuff??

70-Million dollars investment

ORANJESTAD -- The owners of The Mill Resort & Suites, Julian Karam and Edmond Karam jr. have announced that they will invest 70 million dollars in The Mill Resort. Julian Karam is managing director at The Mill. De Karams are from Venezuela and they want to spend the money on a huge facelift and the expansion of the number of rooms.  

During a conversation with Prime Minister Nelson Oduber and Tourism-minister Edison Briesen (both MEP), the brothers Karam explained their plans.  They want to expand the resort with 206 rooms.  The Mill Resort has currently 211 rooms.

Premier Oduber indicated that the conversation with Karam was very positive.  He is very happy with the plans, because this investment means that in foreign countries, our country and the development in the tourism are considered very positive.

ORANJESTAD – An amendment of the Sanction-ordinance that the Parliament passed unanimously last Friday states that the president of the Central Bank of Aruba must be heard first, before the Justice-minister takes measures to carry on sanction decisions that concern the financial traffic.    

The Sanction-ordinance is part of the draft-National Ordinance that is in relation to taking measures to pursue international obligations; in other words, combating terrorism worldwide.  The Sanction-ordinance initially stated that when a legal body, a group of citizens, or in certain cases an individual citizen in Aruba is suspected of terrorism involvement, the Justice-minister can order to carry out a sanction decision and take measures.  Last Friday, the AVP-parliamentary party proposed an amendment to change this.  The Advisory Council and the Bar were associated with the judicial contents.  Lawyer Ricardo Yarzagaray explained to Amigoe that the article in which the minister could have given that order was indeed very permissive, and entailed that the government and all parties concerned (like supervisors appointed by the minister, editor) were not liable for consequences of the sanction-measure.  “Because the sanction-ordinance also included an indemnification clause stating that if the government was under the impression that it had handled in good faith, the citizen would not be entitled to receive compensation for damages.”  

The amendment that the MEP, AVP, and RED (MPA was not present) leaders signed last Friday, implies that when inter-regionally or internationally a reporting is received that a person is suspected of being financially involved with terrorism, the Justice-minister is allowed to decide on a sanction, but before carrying out that sanction decision (like blocking a bank account, editor), the president of the Central Bank must be heard first.  
The same sanction-ordinance includes a new article that states that the rules in the sanction decision are only binding, assuming that the individual natural- and legal bodies, groups or entities, for whom the rules apply, are clearly describes as such that there won’t be doubts regarding their identities.

The official figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) indicate that 1,600 people actually commit suicide each year - a number that has remained stable for a long time. But the Trimbos institute suspects that the actual figure is much higher, since many suicides in the Netherlands are registered as traffic accidents or industrial accidents. Hi Klaas Computer is up and running again today.  All my own work so I think I am in the wrong job! :lol:  No idea what caused it but have reloaded and using my favourite browser so I am happy again.

ORANJESTAD-The crew of House Hunters was recently in Aruba from Los
Angeles to film their second episode. Leonitt and Adriana Kozlovs from
the U.S. is the lucky couple in search for a second home on the island
and have decided to participate in the program. The Kozlovs were
successful in their classic ballet performance during the 1970's on
Broadway, New York.


The first episode of House Hunters on the island was filmed in 2006 and
broadcasted on February 9th of this year via HGTV. Soon the crew of
House Hunters will be back in Aruba to finalize the second episode. The
second episode will be transmitted in February of 2008.

I don't know what kind of camera you have but most "point and shoot" digital camera's have the dreaded Shutter Delay or Shutter Lag.  Can't get around that.  Newer 'point and shoot' digitals boast faster shutter response but bottom line is if you want NO shutter lag you have to go to an SLR digital camera.
It's the dirty little secret pocket digital cameras don't mention, you learn it the hard way.
I got so frustrated with the same kind of stuff you're referring to, I finally broke down and bought a Nikon D70. I'm a happy camper now.

PAUL VAN DER SLOOT HAD TWO PERSONAL CONTACTS WITH NATALEE THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPEARED
 
ORANJESTAD(AAN) On the 13th of  February 2007, the Superior Court dictated sentence against Paul van der Sloot in the case that he appealed with regards to the damages that his person as well as his family members asked for, seeing that in the Primary Court (Court of First Instance) Paul van der Sloot alone (no one else in his family) got a reward of 40,000 guilders for damages and 1500 guilders to cover the costs of the lawyers, court clerks, etc.
 
The sentence of the Superior Court fell like a bomb on Paul van der Sloot and his defence attorney because, according to the attorney, the Court made use of informations that do not agree with the truth.
 
The Court dictated that Paul van der Sloot fetched Joran and Natalee at the McDonald Palm Beach branch and took the two of them to the Holiday Inn, according to declarations by witnesses and also informations obtained from a phone tap carried out by the police.
 
Until recently, this key information was not known in the press and apparently only by the Police and Dept. of Justice.
 
The whole case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway gets a different twist now that the information has come out from no less than the Superior Court, and in which mention is made of the declarations of witnesses and a phone tap that show or give an indication that Paul van der Sloot had on two occasions personal contact with Natalee during the night that she disappeared.
 
Mention is made that, according to one or more official reports of the phone tap and also the declaration of Paul van der Sloot himself, that Paul fetched Joran and Natalee at McDonald and took them to the Holiday Inn.
 
Based on this information, the judicial authorities and the police had at that time a justified basis to arrest Paul van der Sloot based on different suspicions.
 
According to the Superior Court, Paul van der Sloot himself is guilty, he made possible or caused (depends how every one interprets the grammar in the sentence of the Court’s) himself to be arrested and that Aruba cannot be held responsible for the damages that he suffered and for which he was demanding damages, which he won in First Instance, but appealed to get more, and now has lost everything.
 
In the sentence there are various points and aspects that brought a different view on the Natalee Holloway case and that in the coming days will be analyzed, but the most important information is the matter of fetching Natalee and Joran at the McDonald, Palm Beach, and also that Paul had on two occasions personal contacts with Natalee on the night that she disappeared.
 
The cardinal question now is: what did the police authorities hear on the tapped phone of Paul van der Sloot, and the next question is hotter still: at what time, under what circumstances, and where did Paul van der Sloot as the father of Joran van der Sloot  have contacts with Natalee Holloway the night she disappeared?
 
If the Superior Court says that in the official report mention is made that Paul van der Sloot fetched Joran and Natalee on the aforementioned night at McDonald Palm Beach, that is the first contact, but where did the second contact take place?
 
On the night of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, Paul van der Sloot met again with Natalee after he left Joran with Natalee at the Holiday Inn? If that is the case, then where and at what time did Natalee disappear that night?

One thing stood out to me about the *Deepak* computer findings. This is the only PV that accounts for any Deepak (or Kalpoe) transmissions. As far as i know there are only references in other PVs and lawyer statements that are assumed to be true that fill out the timeline.

That being said...computer records account for only 38 seconds of Deepak's night.

PVDS tells Joran to get on the computer, act like nothing has happened.  He instructs Joran to go to the casino the next night, act like nothing has happened.

In the mean while, PVDS finds a way to dispose of Natalee's body.

1) Paulus having contact with Joran and Natalee.

2) Joran not breaking...does not know where the body is.

Yep, with this possible theory, Natalee would be at the Sloot residence at around 3am.  Keeping in mind we've really not had verification of that call nor the exact time.

I agree with everything you said.

If the witnesses did hear correctly that Paul told the polis "I picked up Joran and Natalee (or the girl) and drove them back to the Holiday Inn  at 4 AM" it shows that Paul had prior information that Natalee was staying at that particular hotel.  Even if "at 11"  was misheard as 4 AM,  there is Paul blurting out a link between Natalee and the HI that he would know by being the guy sitting beside her at the HI casino and having a conversation with her.

I agree Leslie.  The first time Paulus met Natalee was at the casino.  I think every move Paulus has made is calculated and there are reasons behind it.  Someone either saw Paulus that night or he is covering his ass just in case someone saw him.

I think the Judge and Paulus are related.  These are the two pictures that make me believe they are.  Also, it was said that this judge would spend time at the Sloots when he visited the island.  You spend time with family and especially if you are sleeping over.  JMO.

In my opinion this was part of the plan.  They had to make it look like the judge was not on their side in the very beginning and this is why he made these decisions against J2K.

That is the big fact that must be hushed up, in this case.  Paul has never been asked if he met Natalee, that we know of, and he has not volunteered that information.  If it was an innocent meeting at the casino and a short friendly conversation, why wouldn't he or Joran admit it?  It seems likely that Paul and Joran were sitting side-by-side and moved their chairs apart when the American girls arrived.   With this evidence exposed, Paul should be brought in to the polis station and asked a few more questions.  Peter deVries should investigate the year that Paul spent in Den Bosch/Boxtel (2004-2005) to see what he was doing when he wasn't studying to be a judge.

I agree with you that Paulus should be brought in for more questioning.  But I don't think it will do any good because Dennis Jacobs will be the one questioning him.  Also I believe that at this point in time Rudy Croes has made in perfectly clear whose side he is on and he will make sure it won't happen.  For a Minister of Justice to call someone a traitor for talking about the Natalee Holloway case is just unbelievable.

I infer that the story is about an American expat who is living there, a tourist, a "woman of color," and that something may have been stolen.

The Dutch said they panicked when she stayed unconscious.  At some point, they realized she wasn't breathing.  Total panic.  This was after Satish left them and possibly Deepak.  Someone was home chatting with John Charles Croes and probably just to establish an alibi because they already knew they were in trouble.  What's the time on the John Charles Croes chat?  That's about the only computer info that we can verify outside of a hard drive that's been "dinked with".  The search warrants were executed on June 13th IIRC, and the computers were taken then.  I specifically remember hearing on Greta's show sometime in JULY that those computers were being sent to Holland.  I remember this because my thought was WTH TOOK THEM SO LONG?  Those hard drives were looked at in Aruba, messed with, then sent to Holland.

I agree.  they knew they had to establish an alibi.  Satish asking - how's the girl leads me to believe they may have at least taken him home - to protect him (Deepak aludes to protecting him in statements)

I also believe it had to not have been long after she was unconscious and unresponsive, that they called Papa Sloot.(If he wasn't there in the first place)  Someone with a more mature mind did some covering/alibi work that night.  Young kids like this just don't think of it.  I can't see them thinking straight enough to pull off what they did and not have help from someone else.

Deepak and Satish don't seem to know all that happened after they left Joran, but when they left Joran, they knew something was wrong.  I'm thinking they called someone like Freddy or Koen or Guido first, then called Paulus.  There are many who think Natalee was buried initially and her remains moved later.  That makes me think that she died and Joran and a friend took matters into their own hands before calling Paulus.  Unless Joran and his pals are deeper into organized crime than we know, Paulus would be the one to make sure Natalee's remains disappeared.  I don't see Guido or Joran calling some drug kingpin to say "I'm in trouble, need help."  

We're missing so much information that ALE has.  I wish we'd hear from the Dutch investigators or DeVries.

Kat-Gram:  I feel for you because I hate the long cold winter also, but this year has been amazingly warm and sunny.  It is 52 degrees in the bright sunshine and, what little snow we had this year,  is melting.  This would be normal for April 1st not March 1st.

Continuing with weather topics -

The National Weather Advisory has issued a tornado watch today until 9:00 pm for many counties in Georgia. The watch includes the city of Atlanta and Cobb, Decatur, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Cherokee, Forsyth and other metro Atlanta counties.

The newspaper says that heavy rain is expected around drive-home time (3:00 - 8:00 pm) with straight-line winds of 70 mph.

(Anything can happen here in March - snow, ice, tornado, hail, and even spring!)

Forecast for tomorrow and through the weekend is good.

This is unusual for here. What happens we go from Winter to Summer all in one day.
PPl are sick, colds, flu, etc.
Always try to find a way to cheer up. Bought some Hyancinths that are blooming and a Begonia that was blooming.
Sometimes, we all check into a hotel with waterslides and spas. No cookin' no dishes, just Fun 24/7. But the others are too sick ( are on the mend ) right now.  Pneumonia is going around. Not me . Been lucky so far , but at the first sign of it will crawl to the clinic for DRUGS.

I'm at home as our office has closed. All the school systems shut down earlier...so we're expecting several twisters and people are getting a little antsy...It is headed south of Birmingham in a little place called Clanton, within the hour...

It was a horrible car accident.  The driver of the car they were in was trying to pass another vehicle.  Very sad.

Just stopping by to see if most Monkeys in Alabama know the schools are closing and to pick up children, etc.  Not so sure how I feel about this as the weather was predicted this morning and could have cancelled then as some did.  I hope this doesn't put lots of kids home alone for this bad weather.

Right now the Northwestern  and Southeastern corners of the state are being pounded as is the Tuscaloosa area, heading into B'ham.  

Be safe, monkeys!  Klaas, you will have many sign off as there is tremendous amount of lightening connected to some of these storms.  Good news is they are moving fast so maybe they will move from the area quickly.  Bad news is they are heading toward others!

Oh how terrible. It was certainly a large memorial service for the boys. I feel very sorry for their families. I saw their obituaries, very handsome kids.  :cry:

Enterprise HS has been hit by a tornado.  There have been injuries.

Trying to be sure about this news...but the Travel Channel says that the Enterprise High School has been severely damaged along with very bad damage in that area....

Yes,Klass,you are watching my tv.The high is hit and students and teachers are trapped.the Hospital in enterprise was also hit by a major tornado.ga. needs to get in safe places now.We have more tornadoes entering west Ala.now.It will be a fun day.Cat

We are now having more tornadoes moving in,so watch Tuscaloosa and then Birmingham.cat  this is a major Tornado.

Well - as I posted on the previous page, Metro Atlanta also is under this watch - as is almost all of Georgia, except the most northern part.
