Oh Oh ...Easter is next to dress up for.  CBB I will try to find a Bilby for you to do something with.  There has been a movement here past few years to replace the Easter Bunny with the Easter Bilby.  Can get chocolate ones and all.   A Bilby is a small native animal with long ears so does not look out of place.  Will search tomorrow......

The whole Shango and Simian thing is one of those deals where we all sort of have different shades of opinion. I am convinced that they both are trying to lead us in the right direction, even if they may not have every detail down pat.

That's the problem.  Mr. Red doesn't go to sleep until he is absolutely exhausted.  Then he sleeps so hard that he snores.  He is OVER relaxed because he's so tired.

I snore sometimes.  If I've been up for too many hours... like during traveling.  Or when I drink too much and party too hard.  

If he would establish a regular sleeping pattern, he'd snore less and feel better.

In my opinion...

Monkeys... good nite... I need to get some sleep myself... LOL

As for my expertise, I will defer to other monkeys on that one.  I have studied Shango and Simian at length.  Changed my mind many times and even gone back to some original theories.  I have placed Shango's verses in relation to some of the new info we have from the perps statements.  Yes, I have studied it in detail.  I always welcome new ideas and theories.   So I will be waiting with excitement to see what you think.

I think I will hug Nemo for now. (Another code word.  Nemo is a doggie and I hug him each night before I go to bed.  Angie helps me hug him too. My arms get tired from time to time. He belongs to CP405, one of our monkeys.)    

I suppose I will be in pretty rough shape by Sunday afternoon, what with the withdrawals and all. I wish I had known about this intervention I would have been prepared.  I am not too good at going cold turkey.

Yes Patti, we have some strange creatures here - both on four legs and two legs as well  :lol:  :lol:
Bilbies are smaller than rabbits and hop a bit the same and sometimes sit on their haunches.  They are a sort of bandicoot.  They have pouches.
If you have not found it yet Klaas started a thread for me in the Monkey Lounge Forum to post things about Australia.  I always welcome questions on anything the monkeys would like to know to make sure I am not boring everyone.

Patti - between me and CBB we'll have you dressed up for St. Patrick's Day by Sunday!

RU actually started out as Ceetvrefugees.  The forum was started by banned members of the Court TV message boards.  Then, as members of SM or BFN or RWV were banned, they found their way to Ceetvrefugees.  Their original site went down and when they started their new site they renamed it Refugees Unleashed.

Thanks None! I've been at the lake since the wreck, with John: It's a one level ( well, everything required is on the main level ) and so I only have my lappy. Lot's of addresses, etc. aren't on this. He's in a new brace with a gauge lock that allows for slight bending of the knee. Every two weeks they'll increase the range of motion a bit as long as he's doing OK. It will be a minimum of 11 weeks before he can begin to weight bear. I'm able to move around so I keep him fed and bathed and take care of the pets, etc. I still can't wear a shoe, but am now in a soft coller. I'm much better!!! Thanks for asking.

San - my point that I'm sure YOU got, is that family and friends rarely believe their relative/friend would ever do anything to harm another person.

You know, for a while before they caught him, the thought was that he'd commit suicide. I had a gut feeling he wouldn't. Something about his crime just screamed to me that this guy was a coward on top of everything else. I think the fact that he was calling people made me think he was looking for sympathy. He gets none from me.

Yes I got your point.  As soon as I saw the picture of him I was like YIKES he killed her.  I felt the same way about Joran when I saw his picture I knew he killed Natalee.

I think she protects her son.  I think she knows he has a temper.  I also believe she knows what happened to Natalee but may not have been told the truth how it happened.

I knew he wouldn't commit suicide.  This was part of his plan in order to fool people so he could make his get away.

The Birmingham News is NOT in the family's corner.  Believe that. They were extremely slack in their reporting of the case after the first couple of weeks and have toned it down to nothing.

They are trying to sell papers to a demographic that is NOT too worried about a missing Mountain Brook girl. Sad to say but it is true.

It's unfortunate, but I know many of our out-of-town Monkeys have picked up on the class envy that is engendered in Birmingham whenever the subject of Mountain Bbrook comes up.

Tried to see the eclipse last night but it was mostly an East Coast show. It took place so early in the evening that it was pretty much over before the moon rose for those west of the Mississippi. The darkest part was so early for Alabama that the moon wasn't high enough to see it well. I have seen some other ones before that were really a sight though.

Looks like we had the forum change with MINIMAL drama this time for once!

It is loading a LOT faster than before.

Hey BTW, thanks for all you Monkeys that have sent along messages to me. I really appreciate y'all more than you'll ever know. Even today, things were very rough and I am NOT looking forward to this next week at all. We used to have a cat that thought he protected us as well as the next door neighbor like a dog does and he would run any stray dogs off. He would really bristle at them and then chase and they always ran. Thank God they ran fast enough that he never caught one because he was a small cat.

He was an indoor outdoor cat. He always met us when we came home. Like a faithful dog. When our ex neighbor went some where he always watched for her and met her when she got home as well. Loved that cat. Had him for 17 years.

When we were small we had a duck that used to run to the front yard because she knew we were coming home from school and she would be so excited to see us. :lol:   This is a true story.

Yep, Klaas.    I think there were a total of something like 14 in 2005 and about the same in 2006.  None in January or February but now it is either 3 or 4 already in March.

My mistake - the accident by the drive-in area was February.  Where the mustang ran under the bus.

Odd because you would think there might be more in January with Carnival and all.  Didn't Carnival last from January - February 22nd or something like that?  The fatal accidents all came after Carnival were over.

Carnival officially starts in January but not much happens until all the February parades, jump-ups, etc.   I think it ended around Feb 20 (just like Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras in the states is the finale).  

I'm not aware of any statistics regarding fatal accidents in relation to Carnival.

I was just thinking there might be more partying than usual durring Carnival times, leading to accidents due to drunk drivers.

I wonder if their hot water heater exploded?

I lived in New Orleans for a couple of years and saw some of the Mardi Gras parades. Some "un-pretty" things happen there (and I wasn't even downtown)- worst I saw was when a drunk woman tried to snatch another girl's baby from out of her arms and run off. The police caught the woman and they were pinning her down to the ground and smashing her face into the pavement with her screaming and struggling. Worst police apprehension I have ever seen.

Terrorism and crime are two major concerns for anyone traveling the next couple of months.

It's that time of year when college kids and adults head south for fun in the sun.

But this year, the state department is warning vacationers to be extra careful in the Caribbean.

The Cricket World Cup is being held in the Caribbean from March through April and the U.S. government is warning about a heightened threat of terrorist attacks.

"As security increases around event venues, terrorists may shift their focus to open public spaces, hotels, buses, churches and restaurants,"said State Department officials.

Pitt soccer players Carli Brill and Courtney Wrightson and their friends went to Key West, Fla., last year for spring break.

This year the pair wants to leave the country and is booked for Nassau in the Bahamas.

According to the state department, "Crime and violence have increasingly moved into tourist and residential areas there".

Brill said," I think we'll be fine. We'll just stick together."

Joann Cosentino, a travel agent at University Travel, said, "I always try to tell them, you know just play it smart. Don't wander off."

The U.S. government has warned "gang violence and shootings occur regularly in certain areas of Kingston and Montego bay."

Tourists are also targets of thieves and robbers. And the government warned, "The use of date-rape drugs has become more common at clubs and private parties."

Wrightson said, "My dad always tells me never leave your drink. If you leave it and go to the bathroom, don't drink it when you get back."

In Cancun, the U.S. government warned of "increased reports of crime, especially rape involving alcohol and the nightclub environment."

In Acapulco, "Drug-related violence has been increasing," according to U.S. officials.

With the disappearance of Natalie Holloway in Aruba, risk consultant Kevin Wilkes said spring break safety should be a real concern.

"She lowered her awareness level she lowered her inhibition," Wilkes said. "There was drinking involved she accepted a ride from stranger's people who she had just met and now unfortunately she's still missing."

Yes, most of them do.  What I've found works the best with the Dutch is running through any of the translators then looking up word by word.  Just don't want to take the time on these little articles.  That is what I did with the statements though.

I had noted the use of the word "color", though took no offense to it. As I am not Aruban, nor speak Pap, I have no idea how one's skin is appropriately addressed there. Nadira referred to her sons as black. In the US that is a misnomer. Also, in the US, I've heard many elderly folks refer to black people as "colored". And have done so with my biracial child standing next to me. They mean no offense by it. They are simply speaking from their generation. "Bryan Hamacker [of] Birmingham Alabaam" (who cannot spell the state from which he claims to hail), can blow it out of his nose and eat a bug.

Sorry to barge in here monkeys but I have an urgent prayer request.  My neighbor, which is really more like family than neighbors, daughter is very sick in Children's Hospital in Birmingham.  The little girl's name is Ella Grace and she is 5 years old. Her left lung is collapsed and fluid is building up on her right lung. Diagnosis is Pneumonia.  Went to doctor on Thursday and they sent her home without any blood work or xrays.  Parents are frantic. Please say a few prayers for this little girl for me.  I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I'll pray for this child.  They don't hospitalize children like they used to.  When my son was 2 1/2 he had pneumonia but they hospitalized him immediately.  He was home in 3 days and all better.  This child should have been put in the hospital on Thursday.

I, too, have been praying for Ella since reading the post.  Pediatrician when my older son was 2 suspected pnewmonia and ordered an x-ray immediately (he'd already been dx'd with an upper respiratory infection but his breathing worried us, so we brought him back).  It was found that it was starting in one lung, lower lobe.  Different meds were started right away and hospitalization was not needed.  In any case, it's a shame more had not been done for her on Thursday, as stated.

I certainly have offered my prayer and will continue.  I heard from a family member involved in the healthcare community that near the end of January, there were almost 40 children in UAB-Children's on respirators from pneumonia.

This is just awful.  I will add her to our prayer list at school, too.  Please keep us updated.

Saying prayers for little Ella. God is looking after her and she is in good hands now. She will be home soon and feeling back to normal before her parents know it. Giving a good scare sometimes lets us realize just how precious life is.

Upon examination the doctor probably did not hear anything in her lungs when he listened to her chest. Sometimes it can go undetected when lungs are full. My daughter experianced that several times as a child. Unless an x-ray is ordered they will feel nothing is wrong other than maybe a common cold and treat them as such. With no antibiotics to boot.

It's also possible it has something to do with which browser you are using.  I use IE7.0 and have not had any problems at all since the site came back.  Again, this is something you should ask Tom about though.

island. Aruba welcomed 64,733 stay-over arrivals in December 2006
compared to 57,210 stay-over arrivals in December 2005, a robust
increase of 13.2 percent.

The total number of visitor nights spent stood at 546,828 nights in
December 2006, an increase of 8.4 percent compared to December 2005.
The average occupancy rate of hotels stood at 75.7 percent in December
2006 compared to 74.4 percent in December 2005, an increase of 1.3
percentage points.

Canada Continues To Grow

Aruba received 3,408 stay-over arrivals from Canada in December 2006
compared to 2,659 Canadian arrivals in December 2005, an increase of
28.2 percent.

U.S. Market First Solid Growth Since August 2005

The U.S. market rebounded strongly in December 2006, and that is
mainly attributed to the substantial increase in arrivals from the state of
New York. A total of 42,663 Americans arrived on the island in December
2006 compared to 37,243 Americans in December 2005, an increase of
14.6 percent.

New York State Responsible For Much Of The Growth U.S. Market.

Aruba received 10,427 Americans from New York state in December 2006
compared to 7,751 Americans that arrived from that state in December
2005, an increase of 34.5 percent. The rise in arrivals from New York
state can be attributed to aggressive marketing of the island in that
region, in addition to new airlift by the budget carrier Jetblue.

Europe

The Netherlands, the most important European generating market for
Aruba, registered a decline of 4 percent. A total of 3,386 Dutchmen
arrived on the island in December 2006 compared to 3,526 Dutch arrivals
in December 2005. Most European markets registered solid gains. The
British market is up 44.9 percent, German market is up 64.3 percent, the
Spanish market is up 123.9 percent and the Russian market is up
247.6 percent.

South America

Aruba received 6,773 Venezuelans in December 2006 compared to 6,757
Venezuelans in December 2005, an increase of 0.3 percent. Colombia is
up 33.4 percent, Argentina is down 41.3 percent and Brazil is up 33.6
percent.

It is. I have Incredimail ( free ) at home . GD ( 8 ) loves it.
Tell little email stories. Can make some really cute invites. The best was a dinner invite with a turkey running across the page. I use the kitty as my sig line on that mail system. I also have the regular Outlook Express for more serious things.

Klaas I was wondering if it would be an idea to open a separate thread where I would put map of Australia and maybe the Aussie slang dictionary (properly censored, of course) so that they would be readily accessible for reference to save viewers leafing back through all the pages to find them.  I re-posted the map again as I realised I am waffling on about all these cities and towns and maybe no one knows where they are? :lol:  :lol:

It's fun, upbeat. Free. Did some shower invites for work mate with storks, crying babies. Printed them at work on their state of the art color printer and then trimmed off the to and froms. It is so easy. Your DH must be a fun guy if he likes to play with that mail thing. It appeals to my inner child. Too much seriousness in my work life, anything to release a few good humor chemicals is a good thing.

Thanks dkpen - I am amazed at the number of views so far on the Aussie thread.  I am really enjoying finding articles and pictures to post and it is nice to know there is so much interest in our lovely country.
It also helps me feel I am contributing to SM in a way as it is not possible here to join in the campaign for answers and justice for dear Natalee.  Flyers and bumper stickers would not mean much to anyone here.  I have chatted to many people and travel agents and have yet to meet anyone who has even heard of Aruba, let alone plan to go there.  People here go to Asia, NZ, and south Pacific Islands for holidays.  Some even go to Britain, Canada and the US!

I spent a year in Oz back in 83-84 as an exchange student at a school on the Gold Coast. A great time in my life and lots of fun and friends.

Is it true that Joran confessed on Thursday, the 9th of June; at which time the investigators said that they would be taking Joran to the scene on Saturday, June 11?  That's what I read.

What happened on Friday?  

Maybe the video was taken on Friday, the 10th.

But not down loaded on the internet until the Sunday, the 12th... which would seem logical once the news got out that nothing was found at the rocks.

Do we have any idea of who took the video?

What the heck is going on over there?  I saw a picture of a couple police officers talking to the man, as he was painting... or atleast, I think I did.

1.  I believe the confession was either late night on 6/10 or early 6/11
2.  No way to be certain what day the aru-bay video of the rocks was actually taken but the first part of it was uploaded to the site on 6/11.
3.  Yes, there are ALE at the rock area in the video.  It does appear to be a crime scene.

Why does everyone think it was Joran who confessed.  Deepak is the one with the big mouth and the most to lose and he is trying to not only save himself but also his brother.  I think he is the one who confessed.

Paulus twice denied he went back to the RC to meet Joran. Then remembered. It is possible a witness saw Paulus at the Marriot beach, forcing him to fess up. Paulus' denials make me think that Joran did not call him prior to the *bag drop-off*. No cell records.

If Joran did not call him...what was he doing there?

Not exactly sure what you mean by two crimes, Igsigs. Two seperate assaults, or the murder and cover-up?

Two lines of thought. First that Paulus was involved in the initial crime of rape and murder as was described by the complicity to murder. Jannsen was asked in an interview whether he was suspected in the the murder or the cover-up and she replied "both." If this were the case he could have been out and about and, as you say, been seen by a witness much earlier in the evening.

Second line is cover-up only. The timeline would indicate much later involvement, say around 4:00 am. Batting clean-up for Joran and the Kalpoes. Involving Steve Croes and others? He could have been witnessed here as well taking charge.

I think he was seen out and about or they have him on the ATM or some other video and, like the wiretaps, this has been under wraps.

I don't think Joran was the one who confessed. He had NO REASON WHATSOEVER to do so, he KNEW he was safe and the fix was in. I have always thought it was one of the other 2.

The Kalpoes had no such assurance that they wouldn't be shepherded into a dungeon somewhere. Or worse. They had a lot more to lose.

First he says he walked home, then he starts shifting it to the Kalpoes saying they dropped him off and drove off with Natalee, then it's Deepak that picked him up, and then it's Satish. He and evil papa are making up the story as they go along according to what they know. Otherwise the first story would have been the correct story. No reason to lie and change your story four times if you're not guilty is there?

They all agree on the beach part, which probably means none of them were there, but the pick-up is in hot dispute between the VDS and the Kalpoes. Satish asks Deepak the next morning how the girl is doing? Indicates the Kalpoes were out of the loop after they left Joran "wherever" and from that point forward it was all PVDS and cover-up, with a little help from his friends.

Got ya. Definitely believe there were two groups and could have even been a third. Could this be a broadening of the cover-up to higher powers? Confession on June 10, the day Oduber gets back, and then it is retracted. That statement, along with all of Joran's key statements, are missing.
