I am wondering if there was a 911 call or if they drove to the police station to report her missing....I thought when this first broke I read somewhere that they DROVE to report it but not for sure on that. If they did that would make me wonder if they didnt want to be recorded and slip up....as most do on the 911 calls. And if they read up on true crime they would know this!

I remember she called DD to tell Hailey to go ahead and come home while she was at work. Then DD called her back and said Hailey never went to MB house...I would have called 911 right then!!!!

Nancy asked Billie what she has done to help find Hailey, nothing for nothing Billie seemed a bit taken back by that question but replied,  "...called a lot of friends, we put up fliers, talked to media to keep her in the news."  (Might be off a word or two because I was writing a member with an off topic assistance at the same time I was listening).

Just some thoughts that I will back up later when a transcript of tonight's Nancy Grace is posted.

1.  LE underminded Billie insistence that she had been told that both her and Shawn failed their respective polygraphs.  It is now revealed that there was "deceptive indicated".

2.  If what is revealed on Nancy Grace tonight reflects the truth ... there was no New Year Eve party.  There was an out-of-town aunt and uncle present as well as their grandbaby.  Shawn had a beer.  No alcohol was served.

3.  The crime printouts were Court TV cases.  The same cases that all wannabe detectives who are privy to computers follow.  It was Shawn who was into the weird stuff.

Hey ... I believe that Billie was negligent.  Despite the reported red flags of last February when Shawn threatened both her and Hailey ... she put her children at risk when she allowed Shawn to move in.  However ... was she involved in the disappearance of her daughter?  Does she have knowledge of a coverup?  I don't think so.

I believe that Billie truly suspects that Shawn was involved in the disappearance of her daughter but ... she cannot allow herself to believe it.  Also, LE keeps giving her mixed signals whether the investigation is focused on a runaway or a crime.

This is my EXACT feelings! I think yes she might have been neglectful as a mother, but we all parent differently and I am sure if my parenting styles were picked apart by America I am sure there are other mothers that would feel something I done was not what they would have done and vise versa.....but I still am not convinced she was involved directly!!

Again, things that make you go hmmmm....did she suspect the b/f right away but wont admit it based on a previous threat he made toward her and Hailey?  Did she suspect something based on what was going on in that home?   Was she or is she still in a way protecting her boyfriend?  Most would call the second they became aware that a child was missing with no explanation & call someone to get to the house sooner than they could get there to check & call 911.   Was there conscious of mind not to have a 911 call recorded....she doesnt come off that bright but let's face reality she & her boyfriend spent a ton of time fixated on other cases & moreover the gore involved.

I do not have a box stored up in my closet with printouts of cases but ... I am sure my hard drive would reveal all the cases ... some very depraved  ... that I have obsessively followed and continue to follow on the Scared Monkey's site.  If one of grandkids went missing ... would I be suspect.

Although Billie made selfish choices that put her children at risk ... at this point in time ... this wannabe detective believes that Billie Dunn does not have any direct knowledge of the events encompassing the disappearance of her daughter.

The only BIG problem I have with BD is why oh why is she not talking to Hailey? She has national television to do this! And why would she not be begging with anyone that may have her to "please let her come home" or anyone who knows what happens to "please come forward".....or even a "Hailey I love you and I will not give up until we have you home"

Does she feel in her heart that Hailey is not alive...maybe she is convinced SA might of acted on his "interest" with Hailey?

Oh it hurts my heart to type those words, but why else would she not be using the media to PLEA?

History seems to just repeat itself over and over. Most of us on the thread are aware of the bad stuff in the world, but I wonder about these women who think they cannot live without a man. They bring these guys into their homes with their kids and think it can't happen to them. Never mind the kind of entertainment the man prefers, much less their actions against them and their children. They have a man, and they are validated at being a real woman. I suspect since Shawn was into all this gore, Billie went right along with it to please him and probably totally lost herself in the process. She must have also been more of Shawn's girlfriend than her children's mother.

Imagine a child's fear at night to have to sleep in the same house with someone that gives you the creeps. I would walk the streets and talk on the phone in the yard myself. 

Did Billie have direct fault in Hailey disappearance? Maybe not. But I don't have a doubt in the world she would cover for him. JMO

Muffy, she asked me a simple question & I answered her via email which was clear in the last thread.   She didnt know how to do it otherwise  & I dealt with it appropriately & gladly.   

However ... maybe ... just maybe ... Billie is headed in another direction ... a direction that implies at this late date ... Hailey is her priority ... not Shawn.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, told KTXS on Tuesday that she now accepts the possibility that her former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins could be involved in the disappearance of her daughter.

After adamantly defending Adkins for two weeks, Billie Dunn said Tuesday for the first time that it is possible that Adkins had something to do with Hailey's disappearance.

She stressed, however, that no one knows for certain – and that she was not accusing him of anything.

Adkins is believed to be the last person to have seen the 13-year-old Hailey, a Colorado Middle School eighth-grader.

Adkins reported that Hailey told him on Dec. 27 that she was going to spend the night with a friend – but she never made it to the friend's house. She was reported missing the next day after her mother discovered she didn't spend the night there.

"I never thought he would hurt Hailey, or had anything to do with this," Billie Dunn said, "until it was pounded in my head that that was a possibility. Nobody knows, though."

Dunn said she hasn't spoken to Adkins recently but occasionally communicates with him through text messages.

Break Down of Adkins Inconsistencies Told To Investigators (with video)

ABILENE, Texas -- Information in affidavits about where Billie's boyfriend Shawn Adkins was has everyone trying to fit the puzzle pieces together.

On the 15th day Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn was missing, shocking new information surfaced in the investigation. Law enforcement pieced together a time-line of who was where on December 27th, but for Shawn Adkins, things didn't add up.

Adkins was reported to be the last person to see Hailey in Colorado City, but phone records place him in Big Spring from 9 AM through 2:30 and by that time Hailey had already been reported missing.

The affidavit says Adkins told authorities numerous other inconsistencies, for example, the affidavit states Adkins told investigators he was fired from his job in Snyder the morning Hailey went missing. His employer says that was untrue and Adkins left his job at 6:10 AM without saying a word.

Adkins also said when he left work he headed to Big Spring, 50 miles southwest of Snyder, but phone records show he wasn't in the Big Spring area until 9:30 that morning which leaves a nearly three hour gap in his whereabouts.

So where was Adkins during this time?

Following the records law enforcement got through a search warrant of Adkins' phone, instead of Big Spring instead of Snyder, his phone records place him at the Dunn's home on Chestnut street in Colorado City the morning of December 27th.

Witnesses say they saw Hailey's mom Billie Jean leave for work at 6:20 AM. While his phone records put him at the home between 6:35 AM and 6:56 AM, a time Hailey would have been home alone.

Another startling thing coming out about the time-line of that day, that afternoon at 4:00 PM, Hailey's brother David came home to a locked door. After knocking for a while he climbed into the home through a window and says his presence seemed to startle Adkins, who was already inside.

Officials confirm Adkins as one of the "persons of interest," missing teen

COLORADO CITY, TX (KCBD) - According to Colorado City authorities, 'persons of interest' have been identified in the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.   Late Wednesday afternoon, no names were released.

However, just  before 7 PM Wednesday the Colorado City Manager did confirm for KCBD NewsChannel 11 that Shawn Adkins is one of the persons of interest.  Names of other persons of interest were not revealed.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 has obtained affidavits from Colorado City police that were used to get search warrants.

In the documents, investigators ask Hailey's mother's live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, who they should be looking at, and Adkins replied "both of us." 

DPS Trooper Sparky Dean was later asked if they were monitoring the whereabouts of those 'persons of interests'.

"I think that would be fair to say that we are keeping a special eye on those persons of interest, yes," said Dean.

After Wednesday's news conference, we asked Colorado City Manager Pete Kamphor if they were investigating the whereabouts of Adkins, and he confirmed they were. He went on to also confirm that they were investigating the whereabouts of 'all persons of interest'.

Investigators believe Adkins is near the community of Dunn, about 15 miles north of Colorado City. They said they canvassed the small town and interviewed people there on Tuesday.

There were several other details about Hailey's mother, Billie, in the affidavit.

Disturbing Details in Hailey Dunn Case Emerge from Court Documents (with video)

COLORADO CITY - Court documents offer disturbing details about the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, 13, of Colorado City. NewsWest 9 obtained those documents through a Freedom of Information Request which was filed with Judge Roy Mayo in Mitchell County. Those documents  indicate law enforcement are looking into whether Hailey's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, and her live in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, had something to do with Hailey's disappearance.

According to the affidavit, "investigators noticed numerous inconsistencies in statements made by Adkins and reported suspicious behavior by Adkins on and around the date of Hailey Dunn's disappearance."

RESULTS OF POLYGRAPH EXAMINATIONS

The documents, search affidavits relating to the seizure of evidence, indicate that Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, and Dunn's live in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, failed their lie detector tests, when asked about Hailey.

According to the affidavit, "on the first two occasions upon his (Adkins) arrival, he terminated the polygraph examinations by walking out and refusing to cooperate with the investigator."

The affidavit goes on to say, "on the third attempt to polygraph Adkins, he submitted to the first stage of the polygraph and the result of the polygraph was that he was deceptive."

During that same polygraph, according to the affidavit, Adkins indicated that Hailey Dunn could be found in Scurry County. The results of his polygraph, indicated he was telling the truth. However, when investigators asked him, a second time, if he knew where Hailey was, he refused to answer the question. Investigators asked Adkins who they should be looking at, in regards to Hailey's disappearance, to which Adkins replied "both of us."

The affidavit states that Adkins answer was referring to himself, and Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn.

When Hailey's mother submitted to a polygraph, according to the affidavit, "Dunn was found to be under the influence of narcotics," and investigators wouldn't allow her to continue with the process. On a second occasion, the affidavit indicated that Dunn failed the polygraph examination. When investigators asked Dunn to explain her results, "Dunn could not explain why she failed the polygraph examination. Dunn ended the interview by walking out of the interview."

THE DAY OF HAILEY'S DISAPPEARANCE, AND SHORTLY AFTER

The documents also say Adkins quit his job in Snyder on the morning of Hailey's disappearance, December 27th. Adkins told investigators he went to his job and then left to visit his mother in Big Spring. However, according to cell phone pings, investigators determined Adkins first made a stop in Colorado City, before heading on to Big Spring.

On the same day, Hailey's brother told her dad, that he attempted to enter their home, but the door was locked. He pounded on the door numerous times, but when he could not get inside, he climbed through a window to make entry. Her brother told her dad that when he got inside he found "Adkins standing in the hallway with a deer in the headlights look."

The affidavit says that Dunn and Adkins "made two withdrawals from an ATM machine in Snyder." The affidavit also indicates the pair used the $140 to purchase drugs from someone in Snyder. Court documents show that Dunn admitted the drugs were for her and Adkins.

According to the affidavit Adkins and Billie Dunn hosted a New Year's Eve party at their home after Hailey Dunn had been reported missing. That would have been three days after Hailey was last seen inside the home. However, according to court documents, Adkins downplayed the event, "stating they just had a few friends over."

EVIDENCE FOUND IN MOTHER, BOYFRIEND'S HOME

During a search of Hailey's home, where Adkins and Dunn lived, investigators discovered a box containing hundreds of documents about crimes. Those documents covered mass murderers, serial killers, sexual sadists, murders of family members, motives from major cases, and other similar topics. According to the affidavit, Dunn said those topics were a "hobby."

PREVIOUS THREATS OF VIOLENCE

According to court documents, the home shared by Dunn, Adkins and Hailey, had been the location of a domestic dispute back in February 2010. The affidavit says Adkins allegedly threatened to kill Billie Jean Dunn and Hailey Dunn during the dispute. Adkins initially denied that statement, but went on to confirm that he did make those statements.

Following Hailey's disappearance, Hailey's uncle told police that he had a conversation with Adkins about Hailey being missing. The uncle reportedly told Adkins he couldn't believe that someone would hurt a child. Adkins reported replied "yah, it's like killing a deer." According to the uncle, on previous occasions, Adkins had "talked often about how he kills deer and cuts them up with a chainsaw."

CONCLUSION BY INVESTIGATORS

The court documents, say investigators believe Adkins was the last person to have seen Hailey, on December 27th. Investigators also believe that Hailey was "kidnapped and transported to another location against her will."

No one has currently been arrested or charged with any crime. NewsWest9 has made repeated calls to authorities investigating the case for comment on the documents, but those calls have not been returned.

I agree Fannie Mae.  How in the world could a mother introduce some man into her home when she has a young daughter living there.  Didn't she know that sometimes these men are more interested in the young daughter than they are the mother?  Having that man there doesn't validate her as a woman, it validates her as an idiot.

I thought that was what I heard on NG tonite that BD left for work about 6:20 ...which would be after SA left for work....but from th NG transcript....DUNN: She went missing on Monday while I was at work. My boyfriend - - he came home from work about 3:00 -- or he got to my house about 3:00. And he`s seen Hailey. Hailey was there. She told him, I`m running across the street to my dad`s house for a few minutes but I`m going Mary Beth`s, and I`m staying the night there. Let my mom know.

So that evening when he picked me up from work, we got home, we were getting ready for bed. I didn`t get worried when I hadn`t heard from Hailey. I thought she was at Mary Beth`s. I was kind of upset that she didn`t call and confirm it with me, but not worried at that point.

So they left in two vehicles and come back in one? I thought that they only had one and that is why the aunt had to pick him of the lie detector test....but then again she took ativan ...no it was pain pills and antibiotic.

Oh and she called CD to tell him that his daughter was missing...Oh no wait ...her son went in person to tell him

Is this an actual error in the affadavit or is it yet another inconsistency? Billie has repeatedly said that she talked to her son around 5:00 and she immediately contacted the police when it became known Hailey was missing. There's a BIG HUGE difference between 2:00 and 5:00.

Billie said Hailey did not have a phone of her own.

I believe that is yet another one....hummm

And the mom and boy friend had track phones that the police are suppose to be checking out

I gave you a smart azz answer but I did take your question seriously. I was busy helping my hubby so I am not ignoring you. There are so many things she has changed especially on Nancy Grace. Shawn went to work, no she didn't say that started it all off, and it has gone downhill from there. You are very good at documenting you posts, and I started one and gave myself a headache. If you really want me to do it, I will.

What about a ipod touch u can call from it. When u get certain apps. Or a iphone you can make phone calls from that to. Anyone no anything about that?

She had an mp3 player. She didnt own an ipod touch and also they had no internet so if she had one she would not have any internet connection on it without a wireless signal.

And something else...

Some of the media reports are off in their time. The official affadavit at the same link informs he was pinging from a tower in the area of Colorado City 6:35 - 6:56. Then there's a lapse in time of unuse. Then he's pinging off a tower in the area of Big Spring where his mother lives from 9:38-2:40. His mother lives approx 50 miles from the house in Colorado City. Having said that, there's no way he could have been home at 3:00, not even possible unless he had a plane lol.

What time did he say he last saw Hailey? Also, even though it's been stated that the neighbor's account wasn't credible bc of drug use, what time did they say Hailey was spotted in the back yard talking on a phone?

I'm wondering if the neighbor is a poi, also. Could that be what the authorities meant by saying they have several persons of interest? There's no way, right? Wouldn;t something have leaked by now? Nothing adds up with Billie or Shawn.

How many times did Billie tell various different media, through interviews, that David didn;t get home til 5:00? Now we know it's a fact that he was home at 4:00. Did Billie call the cops or did she go directly to the police station? Did Billie and Shawn share their "joint" car that day or did they ride or drive in seperate vehicles? Nothing makes sense...

I see Shawn fitting with this scenario. I also think Billie can fit into it, too. Hope I'm wrong. Nothing to me can explain a mother being deceptive in more than one poly and knowing full well her child could be in some serious danger and/or dead.

Giving Billie Dunn the benefit of the doubt ... could it be that when she was interviewed on the January 3rd Nancy Grace on January 3rd ... she was under the impression that at 3:00 PM on December 27th ... Shawn drove directly from work to home where a short encounter with Hailey occurred.

However ... following the January 3rd Nancy Grace Show ... she was learned that Shawn had left work almost as soon as he arrived on the morning of December 27th.

On the January 4th Nancy Grace Show ... the truth was revealed but ... the change in story was never clarified.

In other words ... could it have been Shawn's deception that changed the story; not Billie's inconsistency.

Think about it.  If Billie has no knowledge regarding her daughter's disappearance ... she is believing Shawn's every word regarding the events encompassing his last encounter with her.

I have gone back to the affidavits to find the time Shawn and Billie withdrew money from the ATM to buy drugs from somebody in Snyder.  I haven't found the link yet, but my recollection is it was about 6:30 PM. Billie stated when they got ready for bed she hadn't heard from Hailey. My question is, what did they do between the time they withdrew the money in Snyder till the time they were going to bed? And where were they? That's a big chunk of time. I think Billie would have wondered about Hailey before the time they went to bed.  :smt102

I believe that any inconsistencies in Billie's story are the the result of inconsistencies in Shawn's story.  Think about it.  Billie does not have story.  She was at work all day.  She is only repeating what Shawn is stating pertaining to his day that ended with a short encounter with Hailey and ... there lies the inconsistencies ... Shawn's inconsistencies.

During the investigation into the whereabouts of Shawn ADKINS and Billie DUNN
during the time that Hailey DUNN disappeared, it was determined by
ir~vestigators that:  Shawn ADKINS  and Billie DUNN had made  two witk~dxawals from
an ATM machine in Snyder, Scurry County Texas on Monday December 27'"t
6:lQPM and 6:20PM. The first withdrawal was for $60.00 and the second
withdrawal Nas  for $80.00.  It  was determined through the voluntary interview
arid  voluntary admission of Billie DUNN  that the money was  used to purchase
illegal narcotics from a person in Scurry County, Texas. DUNN  admicted that
the  illegal narcotics where for ADKWNS and HERSELF.

Yup, and I questioned the drug buying a few posts up ^  How do you go from admitting it was illegal narcotics to I had a tooth ache & it was for antibiotics & pain?  PS you go to a pharmacy with a prescription from a doctor NOT "some person."

I agree with you Fanny, there is a good bit of time gaps.

Fanny ... no inconsistency ... no time mentioned.

Billie was not concerned about her daughter at that point.  She was doing what her and Shawn did as part of their everyday lifestyle.  If she omitted on Nancy Grace regarding obtaining monies for illegal drug activity when recounting her evening ... so be it.  Why would she incriminate herself when it has nothing to do with the disappearance of Hailey?

DUNN: She went missing on Monday while I was at work. My boyfriend - - he came home from work about 3:00 -- or he got to my house about 3:00. And he`s seen Hailey. Hailey was there. She told him, I`m running across the street to my dad`s house for a few minutes but I`m going Mary Beth`s, and I`m staying the night there. Let my mom know.

So that evening when he picked me up from work, we got home, we were getting ready for bed. I didn`t get worried when I hadn`t heard from Hailey. I thought she was at Mary Beth`s. I was kind of upset that she didn`t call and confirm it with me, but not worried at that point.

I wish the media would get the facts straight... ILLEGAL says something imo.

And furthermore, polygraphs are videotaped now. Enough of Billie Jean's lies. Enough. She needs to quit spreading her lies to the media and whomever will listen to her speak. When an affadavit is written involving a missing child, and people close to said child are interviewed, it is recorded. If more than one cop or investigator isn't present, it is videotaped and recorded. She's gonna look like a fool in front of a judge if she doesn't knock it off. As a matter of fact, usually it's videotaped anyway! There is no way on the face of this earth that an investigator would type that Billie Jean Dunn said they used the $140 to purchase illegal narcotics if they didn;t have proof that she did in fact state that. This isn't the freaking mafia for crying out loud. It's a 6 man small town team of cops. This is ridiculous.

Cant agree this time, yea she might be bouncing off of what Shawn told her to a degree up to the point that she was at work but that doesnt explain her ever changing stories from when she went to go get the drugs with him thru the 28th when she then decided to report her missing.   Like tonight there was no need for her to lie that they were watching news all night on New Year's eve attempting to minimize the report that came out today that they had people over for New Year's...there was hardly any evening news on cable or local due to most channels having specials showing the New Year's celebrations across the country.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Colorado City officials confirmed to KTXS, the former live-in boyfriend of the mother of a missing Colorado City teen is a person of interest in the investigation of her disappearance, but no arrests have been made.

City Manger Pete Kampfer described a "person of interest" as someone who potentially is involved in a misdemeanor or felony.

He would not confirm if Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, is also a person of interest.

This, after KTXS received copies of affidavits that were filed by law enforcement officials for the purpose of securing search warrants to search for and seize evidence related to Hailey’s disappearance.

These documents revealed startling information on Hailey's mother Billie Dunn and her former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins.

Police say the criminal investigation of Hailey's disappearance has intensified, but that they have not ruled out the possibility this is a missing person's case.

In a press conference, law enforcement and city officials released the latest.

They say at this point they have not made any arrests, and no charges have been filed.

Adding that each person of interest is under 24/7 surveillance.

Trooper Sparky Dean said the investigation has narrowed into a criminal one, but they're not ready to rule out a missing persons case quite yet.

When asked about the affidavit they had little comment.

"Through the affidavit, you've seen part of what the investigation is, but we're asking you not to jump to any conclusions...there's a lot more to this case." Department of Public Safety Trooper Sparky Dean said.

During the press conference, KTXS asked, "Do you believe Shawn or Billie, one or both, know where Hailey is?"

Dean paused for a long moment, and then handed the question off to Kampfer who responded, "I think that's a good question. They're working several leads to the nature of that."

Dean then chimed in, "Obviously I don’t know what they are know or don't know, the people to best answer that question, are Shawn or Billie."

Police have now searched over 80 square miles, received 250 viable leads, and interviewed hundreds of people since Hailey Dunn disappeared December 27th.

Search crews will be out again Thursday. They say the goal has not changed; they're still working to find Hailey.

If she was wondering why she didnt call to confirm it with her, she could have called the friend's house to make sure she was there as most mothers would, for one.   Wouldn't all of you especially after the live in boyfriend reportedly threatened to kill you & your daughter?   Did law enforcement ask Mary Beth if they had plans for Hailey to come over?  Secondly, Billie already incriminated herself by admitting that according to the affidavit & why was Billie out getting illegal drugs in the evening first without even checking up on her pre-teen daughter?   Why is that relevant even if Billie has nothing to do with what happened to Hailey, TIME...precious time lost & for what over $140 bucks worth of a high?

So, how'd she get to work then? If he picked her up from work, then did he drop her off, too...could that be why their cells pinged off the same tower? Or did she get a ride with somebody else? If he took her to work that morning, then she;d have already known he didn;t go to work at 6:30 and get fired bc she would have been with him since she left at 6:20 to go to work herself. ITA~Not to mention that her "friend" posting at WS stated LE told her that Shawn left work after 10-15 minutes on Wednesday the 29th, which makes sense to me as they would have checked with the employers, why would she go on NG a week later and tell the first version she heard if it had already been cleared up? I only say this because it seems as though the city has very little LE presence. Also since it is such a rural old town, it seems that CCity would be a perfect place for someone to set up shop and no one notice.

lady that lives down the street from me has 4 kids, 2 young & 2 in hs. Her live in bf is 23. She is 44. He does everything with and for her kids. He had a really bad home life from what I hear. He treats her very well and actually worships the ground she walks on. I think it's wierd but try to stay out of it. I like them enough. I wonder what their childhoods were like - Billie & Shawn. Tonight on Nancy Grace Billie denied taking drugs, yet the affidavit states they withdrew $140 to by illegal drugs from someone. Maybe they were illegal prescription drugs and not street drugs, but drugs are drugs. We do know she was taking Ativan by her own admission, and something for a toothache. I wonder if she ever went to the dentist.

Break Down of Adkins Inconsistencies Told To Investigators
January 12, 2011

ABILENE, Texas -- Information in affidavits about where Billie's boyfriend Shawn Adkins was has everyone trying to fit the puzzle pieces together.

On the 15th day Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn was missing, shocking new information surfaced in the investigation. Law enforcement pieced together a time-line of who was where on December 27th, but for Shawn Adkins, things didn't add up.

Adkins was reported to be the last person to see Hailey in Colorado City, but phone records place him in Big Spring from 9 AM through 2:30 and by that time Hailey had already been reported missing.

The affidavit says Adkins told authorities numerous other inconsistencies, for example, the affidavit states Adkins told investigators he was fired from his job in Snyder the morning Hailey went missing. His employer says that was untrue and Adkins left his job at 6:10 AM without saying a word.

Adkins also said when he left work he headed to Big Spring, 50 miles southwest of Snyder, but phone records show he wasn't in the Big Spring area until 9:30 that morning which leaves a nearly three hour gap in his whereabouts.

So where was Adkins during this time?

Following the records law enforcement got through a search warrant of Adkins' phone, instead of Big Spring instead of Snyder, his phone records place him at the Dunn's home on Chestnut street in Colorado City the morning of December 27th.

Witnesses say they saw Hailey's mom Billie Jean leave for work at 6:20 AM. While his phone records put him at the home between 6:35 AM and 6:56 AM, a time Hailey would have been home alone.

Another startling thing coming out about the time-line of that day, that afternoon at 4:00 PM, Hailey's brother David came home to a locked door. After knocking for a while he climbed into the home through a window and says his presence seemed to startle Adkins, who was already inside.

Maybe she rode to work with someone else. That is all I can figure.

Billie stated Shawn had only moved in 4 months ago. The police report was last February. That means he moved in AFTER the police were called. How deluded is that?

Listening to NG, reporter is saying that Shawn's boss says "No, he was not fired.  He's a good employee.  He came to work and just left."

Because Billie said it was dark, I took it to me that it looked like she (a body) was in the bed - she said she didn't go over and touch her or anything...in other words, she peeked in the door and it looked like someone was in the bed and she wouldn't have thought it was anyone other than Hailey or that it was pillows, etc. put in the bed to look like a person was there.

It was dark - she saw something she took to be Hailey.

So....NG says since police can't confirm that a neighbor saw Hailey the next day in the yard talking on the phone - that means other than Shawn saying he saw Hailey in the afternoon, that the last "known" time Hailey was seen was by her mom at 10:00 p.m. the night before.

Billie says the neighbor told her that he saw Hailey in the yard on the phone the next day and that he said he told the police that, too.  The police say they can't verify that Hailey was seen.

Huh?

I think and granted I just got back from Margaritaville so I may have misinterpreted but I think she's talking about Sunday night/Monday morning when she "thought " it was her, and the MB story was Monday night/Tuesday morning. Y'all correct me if I had too many rita's and screwed that up....

I think I remember Billie saying something to the effect of just to check or something to that effect. If I had to leave early for work and the kids were still asleep, I still stopped and gave them each a snuggle and a kiss. I would most times get an "I love you" back from somewhere deep in the pillows.

She's always refered to him as her boyfriend and never hardly even by his name. It always cracks me up when people living together refere to each other as fiance even if they have no intentions of marrying each other. I guess it sounds better to the grandparents or something. I get to this point every night when a child is missing, and we have so many. I sit and wonder where they could be. Are they alive or are they laying out in some cold isolated place they never saw before until they were killed and God know what else has been done to them. I wonder if they are alive,are they warm, do they have enough clothes on, and is their belly full and warm. Has someone taken them that loves them, or have they been taken by some terrifying person. Have the fallen in a hole or are they trapped somewhere maybe never to be found. I use to dream of Caylee every night. It was hard for me to go to sleep because in my heart I knew she was somewhere in a damp, chilly, musty place full of bugs. I would feel guilty lying in my warm bed. Although I was overwrought with the finding of her body that December, I got the best sleep that night that I had gotten for weeks and weeks.

All this news about Hailey has not make the news much better either except that maybe we are closer to finding out what happened to her and maybe be able to bring her home.

I may be wrong, but IIRC - Billie said she looked in on Hailey that night around 10:00 and Hailey was watching TV.  Billie peeked in on Hailey the next morning, it was dark, but Billie thought that it was Hailey in her bed.

Hailey Dunn's Dad Visits Odessa (with video)

13-year old Hailey Dunn has been missing for 16 days now and authorities have named her mother's boyfriend as a person of interest.

Affidavits obtained by CBS 7 spell out shocking details about Hailey’s mother Billie Jean and her boyfriend Shawn Adkins.

Including admitted drug use, an interest in serial murders and that Adkins had previously threatened to kill Hailey Dunn and her mother.
Hailey's father continues to hold out hope and refuses to give up his search.

Clint Dunn is traveling across West Texas to spread the word about her disappearance.

He was in Odessa at the Music City Mall today, talking with people, getting his own leads in the case and handing out fliers... All in hopes that he will find his daughter Hailey.

"This is my daughter and I'm looking for her," Dunn says as he hands a flier to a mall shopper.

He hasn't seen his daughter since the day after Christmas.

"I think we may have played a video game that morning and she left that day, I haven’t seen her since," he says.

He describes her as cheerful, the type that would make everyone laugh and he doesn't believe that she would have run away.

"This is so out of character of her to run away that's why this gets more scary everyday," he believes.

But he's not putting the blame on Hailey's mother and her boyfriend.

"I'm scared everybody's looking at Shawn and Billie Jean too closely," he says.

That's why he's looking elsewhere.

"I don’t want to put them up on a pedestal and let the person get away with my child,” he says "I have to just focus on finding my daughter."

"My little girls out there and somebody’s got her, and I just want her back."

Clint says he will spend tomorrow in Odessa, then move on to Midland and Big Spring before heading back home.

to believe she is an abettor.

I'm not saying that mom has something to do with this.. But, i will go on the record and say that something about her demeanor doesnt sit well with me. I cant put my finger on it, but she , IMHO, doesnt act like the mother of a missing child. I have a problem with her sitting there like a deer in the headlights, unable to straightforwardly answer questions without hem-hawwing around about it. If my child were missing, I would be able to account every moment that I last saw her, everything she last said, where I was going,what she was doing, etc. And she seems to be having a difficult time recounting those things without stammering around.
Also, the lie detector thing still doesnt sit well with me. Taking a tranquilizer or not....Something about it is fishy...

I beleive SA has everything to do with it..but I cant shake the feeling that she knows SOMETHING....

Again, here is a woman, for whatever reason, cant live without a man. SHe goes from husband to SA within a 2 month period, divorce not yet final, and wraps herself up in him to the point that eventually,she moves him in. What is with these women who want a man so badly, that they would be willing to introduce men into the lives of their children and put them at risk? I am sorry...but no man is worth the life of your child..... When will they stop inviting the evil stright into their homes?

Well, her friend who post on WS set up an account at the bank in CCity for Billie just for donations for living expenses (not search related), reminds me of the Cummings case, everyone fell for her bit hook, line and sinker and were sending checks....then someone asked if this also went to help Clint, and this poster stated no, she felt real bad (blah blah blah), and that nobody should judge Billie on Clint's past.....anyway, the mods finally saw it and stopped .....she was the one that told everyone that Billie knew that Shawn wasn't at work that Monday by Wednesday the 29th. So, that was hinky to me since she was telling NG that he went to work, and then next day that she was mistaken when she had known for almost a week.

My guess would be that BD is on some kind of public assistance. That is why she changed one of her sentences and said "he came home, I mean he came to my house". I think that is also why she says he has only lived there a couple months. I would like to hear from David how long SA has been spending the night. I don't trust anything this woman says. I am not sure if she is protecting herself or someone else but IMO she is not telling the truth on a lot of things.

I also don't believe her about not using drugs of any kind.  Her afflect is very flat like someone on meth.  They loose all ability to feel or identify with reality.  I guess she could react this way to any drug but something is going with her.  All her stated feelings seem forced and fake.  She doesn't seem upset about her only daughter missing.  WTF!!!!!!!!  I think she is too worried about losing SA.  I believe that is all she really cares about.  I've seen lots of women let their young children run loose without any supervision and concern and be totally absorbed in their boyfriend.  She would probably make sure SA had his dinner and let her kids fend for themselves.  All MOO of course but from day one she acts like a bad actor standing in for the the real mom!

Breakdown of Adkins Inconsistencies Told To Investigators (with video)

ABILENE, Texas -- Information in affidavits about where Billie Dunn's boyfriend Shawn Adkins was on Dec. 27 has everyone trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together.

On the 15th day after Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn went missing, shocking new information surfaced in the investigation, which was first reported Tuesday by KTXS.

Law enforcement officials pieced together a time-line of who was where on Dec. 27, but for Shawn Adkins, things didn't add up.

The affidavit says Adkins told authorities numerous inconsistencies. For example, the affidavit states Adkins told investigators he was fired from his job in Snyder the morning Hailey went missing. His employer says that was untrue and Adkins left his job at 6:10 a.m. without saying a word. The employer said Adkins was a good employee and that he hadn't been fired.

Adkins also said when he left work he headed to Big Spring, 50 miles southwest of Snyder, but phone records show he wasn't in the Big Spring area until 9:30 a.m. that morning, which leaves a nearly three hour gap in his whereabouts.

So where was Adkins during this time?

Following the records law enforcement got through a search warrant of Adkins' phone, his phone records place him in Colorado City in the vicinity of the Dunn home on Chestnut Street in Colorado City the morning of Dec. 27.

Witnesses say they saw Hailey's mom Billie Jean leave for work at 6:20 a.m. While his phone records put him in the vicinity of the home between 6:35 a.m. and 6:56 a.m., a time Hailey would have been home alone.

Another startling thing coming out about the time-line, that afternoon at 4 p.m., Hailey's brother David came home to a locked door. After knocking for a while, he climbed into the home through a window and says his presence seemed to startle Adkins, who was already inside

Hailey's Father Speaks Out About Recent Information Involving His Daughter  (with video)

COLORADO CITY - After a disturbing affidavit was released and after Hailey's mother's live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins was named 'a person of interest,' the question remains what does Hailey's father think of all of this?  NewsWest 9 met up with Hailey's father and asked him how he's taking in all of this new information.

Clint Dunn, Hailey's father, is trying to get the word out in hopes of finding his daughter soon. Dunn left Snyder on Wednesday in hopes to find his daughter; he had gotten several leads that she might be in Odessa. So he decided he come and look for himself. And while he was out searching, he passed out flyers and anything he could do to try and get the word out.

But on Tuesday night, when he heard the news of the affidavit he was really concerned and said he stayed up reading it all night trying to make sense of it all. His feeling are of anger and frustration. He told NewsWest 9, he knows Billie and says she would never hurt their daughter. And while he was with her, she was not in to horror films or mass murder items. Clint never thought that his kids would be in danger and all he can do now is hope that the affidavit is wrong and that his baby girl comes home soon.

"I have to focus my attention on what I am doing and that's looking for my daughter. The cops they have their focus on Billie and Shawn and their in the spotlight. So there is no need for me to put them in the spotlight, I need to look elsewhere and hopefully they didn't do anything to my daughter," Clint Dunn said.

Clint did mention that on New Years he was still living across the way from Billie and that he did not see a party going on, he did see cars but not a party. Clint also told NewsWest 9, he did not get along very well with Shawn Adkins and he said that in one instance he and Shawn got in to a fight. Clint does not want to blame anyone or point any fingers, all he wants is for his daughter to come home. 

Clint also said that when his daughter comes back, he plans on making sure she comes to live with him.

Adkins Among "Persons of Interest" in Dunn Disappearance (with video)

Colorado City, TX - After saying there were several "persons of interest" in the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn during a Wednesday news conference, law enforcement in Colorado City has now revealed Shawn Adkins to be among them.  Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie Dunn.

Affidavits in the case show Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins failed polygraph exams concerning Hailey's disappearance, held a party after reporting her missing, purchased illegal drugs, and continue to change the stories they're giving to investigators.
Authorities have not said whether Billie Dunn is also a person of interest. 

During Wednesday's news conference, Texas DPS Senior Trooper Sparky Dean and Colorado City's City Manager Pete Kampfer made it clear they have several people they're keeping a close eye on.  No one has been detained and no arrests have been made.

"At this point we have interviewed hundreds of witnesses who have come forward and have followed 250 viable leads," Dean said.

On Wednesday, KTAB's Priscilla Luong attempted to speak with Adkins to get his reaction to the developments revealed in the affidavits.  A person who answered the door told crews Adkins would not be speaking at the request of his attorney.

Billie Dunn, who has continued to be very open with reporters throughout this entire process, admitted many of the items found the affidavits were true.  However, she had an issue with three aspects of the documents: the New Year's Even party, purchasing illegal narcotics, and all the focus on watching and reading "slasher" material. A portion of the affidavits revealed what happened behind closed doors when Billie Dunn and Shawn Adkins took polygraph exams.  The documents showed Adkins made "made a positive indication" that the girl could be found in Scurry County.

On Wednesday, Trooper Dean said authorities had done a second canvassing on the town of Dunn Tuesday.  Dunn is approximately 12 miles north of Colorado City in southern Scurry County.  Adkins is staying in Dunn at the home of a relative. 



Despite all the information found in the affidavits, there's no indication law enforcement is any closer to finding Hailey.

"The important thing people need to remember is not slandering me," said Dunn.  "The important thing is there is a 13-year-old who it seems just disappeared into thin air."

Volunteers plan to head out searching again on Thursday.  Last week, hundreds of people were involved in the grassroots searches.  Now, that number has dwindled as more time has passed and the temperatures have grown colder.


Officials now say the information that leads to Hailey's safe return is $15,000. They previously estimated much higher at $25,000.

Yea, I have little faith in this twit for many reasons, not the least of which she went hours on end to practically days not personally checking up on her 13 year old daughter but felt it was a priority to talk about birth control, yet seemed perplexed by her b/f's statement to police.  While in today's society parents are wise to talk to their children honestly & up front on many issues, there are certain topics that are more age appropriate as well as taking place after moralistically guiding their children not to make ill-advised choices in the first place.  It is also important especially with a young teen in the home to do your ultimate best as a parent to live by example.  The one thing a single mother should always do is proceed with extreme caution when dating & as far as I'm concerned at no such time should entertain the thought of a boyfriend becoming a "live in" with a vulnerable minor child in the home.  I'm not saying that a single mother shouldnt date at all or look forward to marrying in the future BUT there isnt a person in the world that can claim naivety with all the ugly news we get daily to not proceed with extreme caution since it presents a high risk that someone may find that situation a great opportunity to commit their evil.   Over and over it is repeated that careful, mindful deliberation must take place before considering making a person a part of your home.  Since Billie stated that this SOB actually threatened to kill her and her daughter prior to him moving in with them & the b/f admitted he did state that, she should have never let him move in with them to begin with.   Billie is spending way too much time defending herself & her own actions which tells me there is a reason she feels the need to do so, more than appears obvious to us all already.   Unfortunately, all this being said, its already too late for Hailey I'm afraid & this mother is riddled with guilt as she should be.

I have a question.
 Instead of HD being gone and not asking BD first. What if it was SA. Do you think she would have just gone to bed or do you think she'd be texting and calling and waiting up ?  PRIORITIES.  Her's were not her children.

And I would venture to say he has more than a fight & this that makes him feel this is what should take place, unfortunately it is my gut feeling it is already too late for that future thought....too sad for words.

You are so right. If Shawn had been out after telling the kids to tell Billie, I would bet Billie would be pacing the floor and calling until he came home and would have been giving him the riot act.

I also heard Billie say that Shawn was going to stay at his gradma's house until this is cleared up. She still doesn't see what this guy is. She thinks Hailey is coming home, (and God how I hope she does), they are going to "fix" whatever is wrong, and then Shawn is going to move back in. ::MonkeyNoNo::

Hailey is 13 years old, there should have been a talk about sex and birth control. In 2011, 13 year olds and younger know more about sex then we did at that age. They also teach that in school, I see nothing wrong about talking about this with a 13 year old.

Missing Colorado City teen's grandmother doesn't want ‘to think the worst'

Hailey Dunn's grandmother, Connie Jones, who lives in Snyder, said Wednesday that she has suspected Shawn Adkins from the beginning in connection with the disappearance of her granddaughter.

"She was afraid of Shawn," Jones said. "I know they did not get along and she did not like him."

Even so, she was hopeful that her granddaughter will be found safe.

"I don't want to think the worst," she said.

Jones said she had not heard of the allegations in the affidavits that Adkins had threatened to kill Hailey and her mother Billie Jean Dunn.

I wonder if the grandmother ever talked to Billie about Hailey being afraid of Shawn, and what Billie's response was. This isn't the first time we've heard of Hailey being afraid of him.

Odd she knew that HD was afraid and didn't like SA but was unaware of the threats..Do you suppose people just thought it was  disappointment that her parents weren't getting back together  and didn't really listen to her.

SA left for work, BD left for work shortly afterwards...if this was their normal routine neighbors would know this. Maybe Hailey was home alone and the "neighbor" (that states he saw Hailey on the phone at 12 in the back yard) abducted Hailey or is hiding Hailey?

IIRC BD stated on Nancy Grace that the neighbors name was Charles...and he no longer lived next door. Did he move? Maybe he is guilty and thought he should leave while the LE is focusing on the family. Maybe he thought he could throw off the timeline by saying he saw her outside talking on the phone around 12....

I realize there is alot of inconsistancies with BD and SA, but at this point nothing would surprise me. I would like to know if SA "knew" the neighbor....maybe they did this together...SA and the neighbor that is?

My understanding from what BD said was that Charles was a visitor staying there.

Mom's boyfriend 'person of interest' in Texas case

COLORADO CITY, Texas (AP) - A Texas official has named a woman's former live-in boyfriend one of several people of interest in the disappearance of her 13-year-old daughter, although investigators continue to chase hundreds of leads in the case.

Colorado City's city manager, Pete Kampfer, told The Associated Press that 25-year-old Shawn Casey Adkins is among the people of interest in the investigation of missing middle school cheerleader Hailey Darlene Dunn. No arrests have been made.

Adkins declined to speak to the AP when reached at a relative's house Wednesday night. Another relative, Adkins' uncle, said his nephew had nothing to do with Hailey's disappearance.

"He is the most passive, gentle person you would meet in your whole life," Matt Taggart said of his nephew. "He's not capable of that. He wouldn't even know where to start to make human disappear."

Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, said she asked Adkins to move out Jan. 5, nine days after she reported her daughter missing. The Dec. 28 report set off a multicounty search involving the FBI and Texas Rangers.

Dunn denied having anything to do with her daughter's disappearance, but investigators say she lied.

Court documents obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press include police affidavits that say Dunn gave contradictory statements and lied during a polygraph test that included questions about her daughter's disappearance. She has not been named a person of interest.

The affidavits also indicate police believe Adkins lied when asked about what he knew about Hailey's whereabouts.

The police affidavits said Adkins had previously threatened his girlfriend and her daughter.

Dunn said in a phone interview Wednesday that the couple had broken up before and Adkins said some "ugly things," but never threatened Hailey's life.

"If investigators can't rule him out, I can't either," she said. "I'm unsure at this point."

In one affidavit, police said Adkins' telephone records "dispute" his claim that he visited his mother on the morning of Dec. 27, the day he told authorities he last saw Hailey.

Witnesses said Adkins left work at 6:10 a.m., and Adkins told investigators he went straight to his mother's house in Big Spring, about 40 miles west of Colorado City. But records show calls from Adkins' cell phone were placed from Colorado City between 6:35 a.m. and 6:56 a.m., the affidavit said.

"According to all reports, Hailey Dunn would have been alone in the residence during this time period," the affidavit said, noting that witnesses and records show Billie Dunn left for work at 6:20 a.m.

Dunn denied lying to police. She said she left one interview because she was tired and had been questioned for hours when investigators told her they believed she had been untruthful.

"You're letting me know you're not one step closer to finding my girl," Dunn said she told investigators. "People still need to be worried about my daughter not being at home."

In the affidavits, police said they had obtained information that Dunn and Adkins hosted a New Year's party just days after Hailey was reported missing. Adkins told investigators the couple just had a few friends over for drinks.

Dunn on Wednesday denied "completely" there was a party.

Dunn also has downplayed investigators' claims that she and Adkins seemed to be fascinated with sadistic sex and brutal crimes. The affidavits said investigators who searched the couple's home found printouts of at least 16 different articles related to sex crimes and serial killings, some of them involving adolescents.

Dunn, in statements included in the affidavits, described her interest in true crime cases as "a hobby."

Hailey's Dad: Don't Just Focus on Billie and Shawn (with video)

Hailey Dunn's father continues to hold out hope and refuses to give up his search.

Clint Dunn is traveling across West Texas spreading the word about her disappearance.

He spent Wednesday in Odessa showing her picture around.

Dunn last saw her the day after Christmas.

"I think we may have played a video game that morning and she left that day," he told people.  "I haven't seen her since."

He describes her as cheerful, the type that would make everyone laugh, and he doesn't believe that she would have run away.

"This is so out of character of her to run away that's why this gets more scary everyday."

But he's not putting the blame on Hailey's mother and her boyfriend.

"I'm scared everybody's looking at Shawn and Billie Jean too closely," he said.

That's why he's looking elsewhere.

"I don't want to put them up on a pedestal and let the person get away with my child," he said.  "I have to just focus on finding my daughter.  My little girl is out there and somebody's got her, and I just want her back."

Clint will spend today in Odessa, then move to Midland and Big Spring before heading back home to Colorado City.

One more thing. I live in East Texas and we just had a case where a very well known loving christian family had there 16 yr old son kill his sister...we still do not know his motive.

Tuesday, I was at work again, I left my cell phone at home for my kids to use when I`m working. So Tuesday, I called my son. I said tell Hailey text the little girl, her friend, tell Hailey she needs to go ahead and get home. This was around lunch. My son called me back within a few minutes and she said, mom, she said Hailey never made it over there. She never spent the night.

So at that point I called Hailey`s dad and found out she didn`t over there and she didn`t stay the night with him. I left from work and went to the police station in Colorado City and reported her missing.

I am still looking at other sources to see if she gives a time Billie reported Hailey missing. The transcripts say 2:00 PM.

Well, if there were signs of forced entry (never confirmed there was), the b/f may not be the POI since he had access to the house.  There is nothing that we know at this time that indicates Hailey's brother should be under suspicion whatsoever, in fact he went to the house to find an unusual locked door & the b/f there being startled by his arrival.   Even if there was merit to it & Billie was protecting him, her b/f certainly wouldnt be going along with it especially since, let's face it, he's suspect no 1.

Not saying its not possible, just in my view I think it is extremely doubtful.

Yup, something happened in that house late night the 26th whether Billie is aware of it or not.

It sounds like Charles needs to be checked out.  BD said that he wasn't the owner of the house.  BD also said Charles told her he saw HD in the yard on the phone AND told BD that he had told the police the same thing.

Either Charles is lying to BD or police is lying to BD.

Bottom line Billie is getting snagged on her own lies slow but sure, the reason beyond the obvious remains to be seen.

Maybe the son did not have a key or have it on him OR maybe they were in a habit of not locking the door not having a need for a key (yea some still do that in certain areas), but more to the point why was the door locked with SA inside in the middle of the day.

The neighbor thing has bothered me too. I remember seeing a "video" from one of the news reports. Maybe someone else remembers seeing it too. But anyway, the reporter was interviewing the "neighbor". The neighbor was a black man. The camera was filming him from the back. He was not facing the camera as if he did not want to face the camera. It was a tiny video snip of the neighbor. I will see if I can locate it. I think he needs to be looked at as well. It just gave me a really odd feeling when this neighbor would not turn around and face the reporter.....things that make u go hmmmm?

When NG pointed out last night to BD that HD could have been missing during the night and if that's true, it changes everything...BD hesitated and then said "yes".  I got the feeling it was just "hitting" BD that her daughter might have gone missing during the night.

Have we heard anything to indicate that HD's bed was set up to make it falsely look like someone was in her bed?

Right..."why" wouldn't SA answer the door?  Surely he knew it was the son.

AND...if I knew someone was entering a window, I'd get up and check it out..."why" was SA "sitting"?

Its been reported that this neighbor has a drug habit, it could be as simple as that.  I feel it should not be overlooked whatsoever BUT from the get go my gut tells me whatever happened was a result of something that went on within the home, I pray not fatally but I cant muster much optimism.

Search For Hailey Dunn Continues To Widen, Intensify

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- The search for Hailey Dunn continued to intensify Thursday as volunteers and law enforcement officials spread out to search through rural areas outside Colorado City.

After a thorough search throughout Colorado City last week, the focus has expanded into outlying areas, including southern Scurry County, which shares a county line with Mitchell County about 10 miles north of Colorado City.

Shawn Adkins, identified by law enforcement officials as a "person of interest," is reportedly living with his grandmother in southern Scurry County in the community of Dunn, 12 miles north of Colorado City.

Law enforcement officials were scouring outlying areas in an attempt to discover any hiding spots – or the gruesome possibility of finding her remains.

Some volunteers contacted by KTXS News said they have been searching for Hailey since Friday – through the recent three-day cold spell in which temperatures barely rose above freezing. They were searching abandoned houses in the community of Dunn on Thursday.

The volunteers said they were not giving up hope. They said that they were now more determined to find her – and would be angry if anyone hurt the 13-year-old eighth-grader at Colorado Middle School.

The volunteers said they would stay on the search until she is found. Volunteers on Wednesday searched Lake Thomas, located northwest of Colorado City in Scurry County, without finding any new information.

Adkins, the former live-in boyfriend of Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, was named a person of interest by law enforcement officials Wednesday.

Affidavits acquired first by KTXS News on Tuesday revealed that Adkins' statements about his actions and whereabouts on Dec. 27 were inconsistent.

In particular, his statement that he drove to Big Spring that morning was contradicted by cell phone records that indicate he was in the vicinity of the Dunn home during that time. The affidavit leaves an apparent three-hour gap in determining precisely where Adkins was that morning.

The affidavit indicates some unusual behavior at his place of employment early on Dec. 27, when Adkins left without speaking to his supervisor about 10 minutes after arriving for work.

The affidavit further details the unusual reading habits of Billie Dunn and Adkins – with hundreds of pages printed out from websites about serial killers, mass murders, the killings of family members and other sordid crimes.

Billie Dunn characterized the reading material as a hobby.

Hailey was reported missing on Tuesday, December 28 by her mother Billie Jean (Ostrander) Dunn after Hailey failed to return home from supposedly spending the night with a friend.

According to Dunn’s live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, Hailey left to visit her father, Clint Dunn and then spend the night with Mary Beth Garcia, shortly after he returned home December 27 at 3 p.m.

Local police, as well as state and federal agencies have been investigating Hailey’s disappearance round the clock, interviewing family and friends, conducting a door-to-door search of the neighborhood, as well as searching fields, river beds, abandoned buildings and landfills. The search has covered more than 30 square miles.

Investigators searched the north eastern part of Colorado City by helicopter on January 6.

A temporary command post was set up in Dunn, Texas, January 8 as a authorities expanded the search for Hailey Dunn into south Scurry County.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice Wallace and Ware Unit personnel have conducted a grid search of the town on horseback, with dogs and on foot.

Officials picked up a car from the Dunn residence on 1804 Chestnut for further investigation, as well as an X-box to help solidify the timeline of events.

Authorities have also spoken with two girls, last seen walking with Hailey on Manuel Street on either December 26 or 27, who might have useful information about Hailey’s state of mind, according to DPS Trooper Sparky Dean.

New evidence sheds light on Dunn case

 New evidence has surfaced based on affidavits attached to search warrants issued through the Mitchell County Judge’s office that may shed more light in the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.
   Investigators for the Colorado City Police Department and the 32nd Judicial District served search warrants on Dunn and Adkins, taking their cell phones, a Dell computer belonging to Adkins’ mother, Christina Walker of Big Spring and a 2000 Chevrolet Lumina 4-door car into evidence.
   According to the affidavits, investigators believed there was probable cause for evidence of the felony crime of kidnapping contained in the items taken into evidence.
  Adkins and Dunn voluntarily surrendered their cell phones to police. The search warrants requested “all stored electronic and/or wire communications or files for user accounts..., including text messages, text message content and any attachments, including picture message and any other files associated with the account, that relate to the time period of December 25, 2010 to January 7, 2011 from the Cellco Corporation.
   Although the affidavits do not suggest guilt or innocence, investigators stated that “in the course of the missing person investigation, investigators noted numerous inconsistencies in statements made by Adkins and reported suspicious behavior by Adkins on and around the date of Hailey Dunn’s disappearance.”
   According to the affidavits, “the telephone records dispute Adkins’ report that he went straight to his mother’s residence in Big Spring, but show Adkins returned to Colorado City where Hailey Dunn was reported missing.”
   The computer, which belongs to Adkins’ mother, was confiscated because investigations showed Adkins had spent time on Walker’s home computer, a Dell Inspiron 530 computer. It was picked up on Dec. 30 and on Jan. 5 the computer was placed into evidence.
   Because information gathered during the investigation places Adkins as possibly the last person to see Hailey, police determined the 2000 White Chevrolet Lumina, owned by Dunn and jointly driven by both Dunn and Adkins, was the only vehicle available to Adkins at the time and might possibly contain forensic evidence.
   Members of the task force would not comment on a statement contained in the affidavits which state “It is the belief of your affiant (law enforcement officer) that Hailey Dunn was kidnapped and transported to another location against her will.”
   However, investigators are looking at several persons of interest, including Shawn Adkins.

My neice is 13 and has been educated about birth control by me and her mom. She has a boyfriend she "kisses" so I think it's better safe than sorry. I don't see 13 as too young now a days.

I said tell Hailey text the little girl, her friend, tell Hailey she needs to go ahead and get home. This was around lunch. My son called me back within a few minutes and she said, mom, she said Hailey never made it over there. She never spent the night.

So at that point I called Hailey`s dad and found out she didn`t over there and she didn`t stay the night with him. I left from work and went to the police station in Colorado City and reported her missing.

Hey ... I believe that ... in the process of elimination ... Clint needs to be interrogated and his house searched.  Something akin to Billie ... Clint's background is not without blemishes.  The other night on Nancy Grace ... Clint revealed he had not been polygraphed.  Why?

A missing little girl is what it is all about.  All avenues of speculation must be investigated.

And the main reason that is not for outgoing calls but so when someone calls in it knows what cell site to send it to in order to get to you.
If it sent it to the wrong cell site you wouldn`t get it. So it`s important it registers to cell site after cell site, it`s called a handoff. They can actually go to the MTSO, which is the Mobile Telephone Switching facility, at the base of each one of these cell sites, check the files where this cell phone registered, and will actually tell you what time he was in that area.
GRACE: So, Alexis Weed, he says -- let me get the story straight. And then line it up with the pings.
WEED: OK. So he says he leaves to go to his mother`s house and that`s in Big Spring, Texas. This is at 6:10. But his cell phone pings show that at 6:35 a.m., he is pinging in Colorado City.
GRACE: All the way up until nearly 7:00 a.m.
WEED: Correct.
GRACE: So he goes back to the area in which Hailey lives.
WEED: It looks that way.
GRACE: Question, if he were back at the home, is that the cell tower his phone would ping off?
WEED: Yes, police say in the affidavit that that`s the exact same tower.
GRACE: OK. Did you know that, Billie Dunn? He didn`t go straight to his mother`s. He went back to where the home is.
DUNN: I found that out last night watching the news. He told me the same thing that he went straight to his mom`s house in Big Spring.

So, in light of this information, there's absolutely no way Adkins could have seen Hailey at 3:00 in their house. It's also my opinion that Billie has to know more than she's letting on. If Shawn picked her up from work, then how the heck did she get there? Did he in fact leave work, go straight home, pick up Billie and then take her to work? Did she ride with somebody else, or public transit, etc? Are they both trying to confuse the authorities by sending them in different directions?

One thing is certain, Shawn had a positive reaction to Hailey being in Scurry County. When le continued the questioning during his poly as to the direct whereabouts in Scurry County, that's when he got up and walked out. Billie Jean also showed deception when confronted with that info during her poly. It's my opinion that this mutha knows more than she's letting on. She needs to quit playing dumb.

I agree with you, Janet. Why hasn;t Clink received a poly yet? Is it bc the police already surmise who the true culprits are? Tunnel vision can shoot a case right in it's collective arse. They need to cross their t's and dot all their i's in my opinion.

Two More Affidavits, Search Warrants Obtained In Hailey Dunn Case

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- KTXS News has used the Freedom of Information Act again Thursday to obtain two more affidavits and search warrants that have been issued in relationship to the Hailey Dunn case.

These warrants were issued out Nolan County by District Judge Glen Harrison, who serves as district judge for both Mitchell and Nolan counties.

Hailey Dunn, a 13-year-old Colorado Middle School eighth-grader, has been missing since Dec. 27.

The contents of the affidavits, though, were similar to the affidavits obtained by KTXS News on Tuesday and first reported Tuesday night.

There were some minor differences, authorities said, which will be presented by KTXS News after the information is studied and news determined. The latest information will be presented at KTXS News at 5 and 6 p.m.

The district judge issued the two warrants, one to seize a computer and one for digital media. Officials explained that different warrants are necessary to search the different media devices. A warrant to search a house, for example, would not cover the searching of a computer, thus requiring separate warrants.

The affidavits provide information, or the rationale, that the judge would need for the purpose of deciding to issue the search warrant.

The information in the affidavits does not necessarily provide evidence that would be used, or even admissible, in a court of law; the information is used to justify a search warrant to search for such evidence that might be used in court.

The affidavits, therefore, do not assign guilt or innocence but are used to gather evidence to build a legal case against a suspect.

Another relative, Adkins' uncle, said his nephew had nothing to do with Hailey's disappearance.

"He is the most passive, gentle person you would meet in your whole life," Matt Taggart said of his nephew. "He's not capable of that. He wouldn't even know where to start to make human disappear."

Hailey Dunn case hot topic in Colorado City eateries

COLORADO CITY — Posters of Hailey Dunn adorn the doors and windows of shops throughout Colorado City as the search continues for the 13-year-old middle school student reported missing Dec. 28.

The case was the hot topic in town as residents in coffee shops and restaurants weighed in amid new revelations from affidavits surfaced this week and as investigators declared Shawn Adkins, the boyfriend of Hailey's mother, Billie Jean Dunn, a primary person of interest.

The tables at Dandy's Café on Third Street have been buzzing with talk about the missing teen.

"It hasn't slowed down," said waitress Nancy Ward.

Sherry Holman, who also waits tables at Dandy's, said her son knew of Hailey and has had questions.

"I have told him to come to me if he has any questions because he has a kind heart," she said.

But, because her brother-in-law is interim Police Chief John Bivins, she said she is remaining supportive of the efforts of law enforcement.

"They (law enforcement officials) are doing everything they can to follow laws and procedures," Holman said.

Some residents said they believe Adkins should be looked at closely, but that Billie Jean Dunn is not getting a fair shake by investigators.

"I think they are trying to turn her into a monster, and I don't think that is fair," said Angela Lentz, sitting at a table at Dandy's Café. "I don't think it is fair the way they are looking at her."

Lentz, also a volunteer who has joined in the search for Hailey Dunn, said there are certain things about the case that just don't add up, such as cell phone records.

Even so, Lentz insisted that "I don't think she (Billie Jean Dunn) had anything to do with it."

Others said they were certain foul play was involved in the case.

"I think the girl is dead," said Kenneth Walraven, also a customer at Dandy's.

Where ever that is, I hope it's been searched. What was Billie thinking? 

I agree with both of you.  Children today have so much peer pressure and in many cases little guidance at home.  At least she discussed sex with Hailey.  I certainly don't approve of teenagers having sex, but what I approve of doesn't matter.  Children are having sex at younger and younger ages.  I wish that more of them who are sexually active knew about birth control.  Also, IMO Hailey comes from a milieu in which it wouldn't be unusual for thirteen year olds to be having sex.

Grandmother Says Adkins Would Stand in Girl's Bedroom Doorway and Watch Her

Hailey Dunn, the Texas girl missing for nearly three weeks, was scared of her mother's boyfriend Shawn Adkins, and said he would stand in the doorway of her bedroom at night watching her.

"Hailey did not like him. She was afraid of him and she didn't want him there," Hailey's paternal grandmother, Connie Jones, told ABCNews.com today.

Adkins, 25, was called one of several persons of interest on Wednesday by investigators in Colorado City, Texas. He was the live-in boyfriend of her mother, Billie Dunn. The couple is reportedly no longer together in the aftermath of Hailey's disappearance.

Adkins was the last person to see the 13-year-old cheerleader on Dec. 27, 2010. Dunn, 33, reported her daughter's disappearance the next day.

"She's very beautiful and outgoing," Jones said. "She plays softball and basketball. She's into all kinds of activities."

Hailey told her grandmother that Adkins would pace around the house at night, talking on his cell phone in the bathroom and peering into her bedroom.

"She had told me on a couple of occasions that...he walked around at night and she said that she could see his shadow standing at her door. She said, 'Nana, he scared me. I'm afraid he's going to come in there,'" Jones said.

Hailey's grandmother said she prays that Dunn was not involved in Hailey's disappearance.

"I don't want her to be involved because she's the mother of my grandkids and they love her," Jones said.

Jones last saw the middle schooler on Christmas Day when Hailey tried to take a picture of her grandmother with her brand new ipod.

"It was a good day," Jones said. "She ate two pieces of chocolate pie and we sat and talked. She told me everything that she had gotten for Christmas."

Jones saw Adkins that day too. She said he was quiet and said nothing to her.

"Ever since this has happened, he's been my top priority as a suspect. I've just always had an eerie feeling about him...just a gut feeling that he's not a trustworthy person," Jones said.

City Manager Peter Kampfer said that investigators have received over 250 leads.

"The law enforcement task group is pursuing all leads. They are aggressively focusing on the criminal aspect of this investigation at this time," Kampfer said.

Kampfer would not comment on whether Hailey's mother is a person of interest or still under investigation.

"As an ongoing part of investigation, I cannot answer that," Kampfer said.

Adkins' car, a white Chevrolet Lumina, and cell phone have been seized. The mother's cell phone has also been seized and her home has been searched.

Records show that police were called to Dunn's home in February of last year after Adkins threatened to hurt Billie and Hailey Dunn.

Documents Point To Mother, Boyfriend In Hailey Dunn's Disappearance


COLORADO CITY, Texas -- KTXS News has obtained documents that show startling facts into the investigation of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn that point to Hailey's mother Billie Jean Dunn and her former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins as being primary suspects.
Through the Freedom of Information Act, KTXS has received copies of affidavits that were filed by law enforcement officials for the purpose of securing search warrants to search for and seize evidence related to Hailey’s disappearance.
The affidavits contain facts discovered by law enforcement officials and statements made by Billie Dunn, Adkins and others. In all, a total of six search warrants were issued by Mitchell County Judge Ray Mayo.
The information provided in the affidavits does not assign any guilt or innocence. They are used for investigative purposes only, but in being released to the public for the first time, they do provide explosive details about what law enforcement authorities have found.
Information in these summary statements comes directly from the affidavits:
– Adkins previously had threatened the lives of both Hailey Dunn and Billie Dunn in February 2010.
– Both Adkins and Billie Dunn apparently held an ongoing, intense fascination with horrific films and brutal crimes. Seized in a box in their bedroom were numerous documents, some fictional and some past crimes, that covered such topics such as serial killers, ax murders, sexual sadistic activities, the occult, sex and death topics, motives for murder and mass murderers – including the killing of family members.
– Billie Dunn and Adkins hosted a number of friends for a New Year’s Eve party at their home – just three days after Billie Dunn reported Hailey missing. Adkins downplayed the party, stating they just had a few friends over to the house to have drinks on New Year’s Eve.
– Billie Dunn volunteered to take a polygraph examination, but when she arrived, she was found to be “under the influence of narcotics,” and she was dismissed from the test at that time. On her second attempt, the investigators concluded there was “deception indicated.” After the examination, Billie Dunn was given the chance to discuss and explain “why she failed the examination.” Officials said she couldn't explain them, and she ended the interview by walking out.
– Adkins twice refused to take polygraph examinations. Then he agreed to a polygraph, but after providing some inconsistent information, he ended this polygraph by walking out. Officials said he failed the polygraph, particularly concerning the whereabouts of Hailey.
– During his polygraph examination, before walking out, Adkins provided some positive reaction about knowing where Hailey Dunn is. Indications were that Hailey may be in Scurry County.
– Adkins and Billie Dunn made two withdrawals of cash from an ATM machine in Snyder, in Scurry County, at about 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 27 totaling $140. They told investigators the money was for purchasing drugs.
– Numerous statements made by both Adkins and Billie Dunn, particularly Adkins, have been inconsistent, some with initial denials, then admissions, then changed statements. <snipped>

When viewing these pictures, notice the bottles of Atenolol. That's the generic name for Tenormin. It's a med prescribed for high blood pressure, hypertension, among other things. When cut or smoked or taken with mary-j, it helps to keep the heart rate secure while experiencing the "high" or affect of the other drugs. It's a very dangerous combination. By seeing that he has 2 refills on each bottle, I sure wonder if there's some doctor shopping going on here. Notice the other paraphernalia in the pictures. You can even see a bag - looks like a dime bag to me, but of course somebody could say that's just Salvia or something. Puhleeease! I say this: If Clint (Hailey's dad) could be arrested on .2 grams of weed and lose the home they were living in after the police informed everyone they were only searching for Hailey and didn;t care what was in their homes (no wonder people shut their doors in Kyron Horman's case), then surely according to this picture this guy should at least BE TALKED TO by the authorities for crying out freaking loud!

OOOHHH, I see the pharmacy where his prescription was filled on one of his bottles. I sure hope they see these pictures and then maybe they can go through his records to see how many prescriptions have been filled by him at their establishment. Better yet, maybe they can locate that info and forward tehse pictures to those same doctors that prescribed them in the first place. Looks to me like the meds could be abused.... If this dude has a legitimate disorder, and truly has to take these meds, then he needs to be careful he doesn't kill himself. I sure hope he's not sharing...

Documents: Hailey Dunn's iPod, Other Electronics Seized


Additional search warrants obtained by Bigcountryhomepage.com show investigators seized several electronics from Hailey Dunn's home in efforts to learn more about her whereabouts.

The items were taken during a voluntary search of the home Dunn lived in with her mom, Bille Dunn, and Billie's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.  All the items were consensually handed over by Billie.

Colorado City police officer Kelsey Alexander took a memory stick found in the master bedroom, a CD-R found behind several DVDs in the master bedroom, a CD-R labeled 'Hailey Dunn' found in Hailey's bedroom, two pink MP3 players found in Hailey's bedroom, a black MP3 player found in another bedroom inside the house, and a VHS tape labeled 'White Snake' with the name 'Pete' found in Hailey's closet.

The contents of the memory devices were not disclosed.
Read the search warrants
Another search warrant seized a computer and hard drive from the home of Adkins' mother, Christina Walker, in Big Spring.  The attached affidavit states Shawn Adkins had spent time on the computer.  Walker agreed to let investigators search the computer on Dec. 30, two days after Hailey was reported missing.  Police downloaded thee contents of the computer, and when Walker told Ofc. Alexander that she was coming to pick it up on Jan. 5, the computer was placed into evidence, the affidavit said.

The search warrants were signed on Jan. 6 by District Judge Glen Harrison.

I can honestly tell you all, I wasn't a 100% perfect angel in college...but never never never did I hang out with these kinds of people, party at their houses, or even knowingly share the same breathing space with these kinds of people. Pardon me, but ummm uhhh wth?

Fifteen states have already acted to ban or regulate one or more of the chemicals used in the creation of K2 AKA Spice, AKA Blaze, AKA Red X Dawn. So while you are enjoying your Thanksgiving dinner, casseroles and Thanksgiving desserts this holiday season, the US is moving to make the ingredients used in making synthetic marijuana illegal making K2/Spice an illegal drug. Today, Wednesday November 24, 2010 the US government announced that it is moving to make five key ingredients used in making spice illegal and that will make K2 obsolete as an accepted alternative to marijuana. Spice has ingredients in it that are not approved by the FDA and on the package of all spice it clearly states that it is not for human consumption. But teens and others alike think it’s just a joke and so they smoke it like it is supposed to be smoking. It is marketed as incense which is just a cover, but people are taking it and smoking it to get high.



The five chemicals used in its making mimic THC and is not approved for human use. It has caused a lot of emergency room visits and some deaths have now been attributed to its use. There are even some reports of additions now! The blends sold to the public when smoked are making people across the country sick and there have been an increase in the reports since its day view on the scene in 2008 when the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency analyzed "Spice." As of Sept. 27, the American Association of Poison Control Centers has reported receiving more than 1,500 calls from 48 states and the District of Columbia about products spiked with these drugs, the DEA said.

DEA says it will allow 30 days for the change to illegal status to take effect so there is not a rush of panic in the American people creating an imminent hazard. John Hoffman, one of the key makers of some of the chemicals in K2 says, “They (the chemicals) are dangerous and anyone who uses them is stupid," in a telephone interview from his Sylva, N.C., home. Huffman said there have been reports of overdoses, suicides, hallucinations, seizures and even cases of addiction since 2008.

When you consider the time that David and Hailey spent with their father ... there is no way that Clint did not realize what was going on inside the house across the field.

I so agree and sadly this is turning into another case when everyone failed the child, HELLO ppl you are supposed to protect your children, give them a safe home, physically safe and emotionally. Then short...ly afterward I saw a KTXS news team van heading in that direction from Ira, TX. I have not heard of the cause. I have been told that several News crews have set up to do a live right in front of Billie Dunn's Home. They will be doing another interview w/ her tonight. Apparantly, there was some sort of evidence, either under the bridge or somewhere in the vicinity of, which has just been uncovered. I have absolutely know idea what the cause is and do not mean to insinuate any conclusion. However, I do not believe they would call in a Forensics team to convene at a location unless they had some good reason to do so. I guess we are to find out shortly. God BlessSee More

Billie says she doesn't want to get into the buying of illegal drugs. She said she and Shawn went to the north side of town (Snyder) to see her mother for fifteen minutes.

Volunteer Searchers Suspicious of Adkins in Dunn Disappearance (with video)

While things were fairly quiet in Colorado City Thursday afternoon, there was plenty of activity in the community of Dunn.

Authorities say they're now extremely focused on the criminal side of the case.
Scurry County law enforcement and volunteers scoured fields searching for clues in the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.  Thursday marks the 17th day since the Colorado City teen vanished.

While many searchers were willing to speak, others told KTAB's Tiffany Tatro they feared possible retaliation from Shawn Adkins.  Adkins has been labeled a "person of interest" and is the boyfriend of Hailey's mother Billie Dunn.

"Shawn's across the street watching us," said volunteer searcher Holly Jenkins.  "I just have this motherly intuition."

Jenkins is from Midland and vows to stay searching in the community of Dunn until Hailey is found.  She says she was shocked to hear the findings of search warrant affidavits.

"It still saddens me that Hailey was subjected to this type of lifestyle.  I just hope that it means nothing," Jenkins told Tatro.

"I'm not feeling to well about the mother or the boyfriend right now," said Freda Radcliff, another volunteer searcher.

Radcliff said she was initially optimistic and hopeful.  However, new developments have changed all that.

"I think it's going to be a horrible outcome," said Radcliff.   "The fact that she said she could be found in Scurry County and that they should be looking at both of them.  They've done something to her."

Despite her gut feeling, Radcliff says she and other searchers will still focus on their mission.

"I'm here for Hailey.  That's the only person that I'm here for," said Radcliff.

"She's a little girl who needs all of us," added Jenkins.  "We all should be out here helping." 

Officials now say the information that leads to Hailey's safe return is $15,000. They previously estimated much higher at $25,000.

I live in the area and the buzz in town was that it was a bag of clothes but no one can say if it is related to the case or not

I think that Billie just can't believe that she used such poor judgment and may have been responsible for bringing in a killer to her home...She is probably trying to convince herself that it isn't her fault because deep down she knows that it is her fault...jmo

I read the affidavits and got to thinking back to the beginning about the dogs tracking her scent towards her dads, the MBs, then the motel. I think it is possible something happened after 10pm Sun night and Hailey left the house running for her dads. Someone was chasing her, so she veered off in the direction of MBs, then changed course again heading towards the hotel. I think she never made it that far and that she was "caught" before she made it to safety. I can't get the image out of my mind that she was pursued by SA and an accomplice (his friend, cousin, BD, someone who role played with him), that they had finally decided to role play for real and chose Hailey as the target. I also think Hailey was likely dead and maybe on the car trunk when SA went to work, he got nervous thinking about it, couldn't wait to dispose of her or spme incriminating evidence, manufactured the story about being fired and left work so he could either a) get rid of body/evidence or b) return to the house to make sure he hadn't forgotten something. I just have the strongest feeling about this. I think BD must know something happened and is either involved or afraid she might be accused of being involved so she is covering up, being careful not to point fingers. This is just IMOO and I may be totally off base. I hope so.

Grandmother Fears Mother's Boyfriend Killed Hailey Dunn

One of Hailey Dunn's grandmothers revealed fears that Shawn Adkins may have raped and then killed the missing 13-year-old Colorado City girl. Connie Jones, mother of Hailey's father Clint Dunn, discussed this nightmare scenario during Thursday's "Nance Grace" show on HLN.
Jones claims that Hailey told her Adkins used to stand by her bedroom door at night. She also says that Hailey told her she was afraid of her mother's live-in boyfriend.

"That appalls me," said Hailey's mother Billie Dunn in response. "Why would nobody tell me this? If she was concerned of that, why not tell me or Clint a long time ago."

Jones went on to say she tried to get custody of Hailey last January.

Grace grilled Billie Dunn concerning information about purchasing illegal narcotics the evening of Hailey's disappearance. According to search warrant affidavits, Dunn admitted to buying drugs in Scurry County.

"I read that too," said Dunn. "The only narcotics I had were prescribed to me and I even showed them to Priscilla to get them on tape."

Later in the broadcast, a caller asked why it appears Billie Dunn isn't showing any emotion.

"I have every horrible emotion imaginable," Dunn responded. "I break down in my room by myself. I try my hardest not to do it on TV."

Documents: Hailey Dunn's iPod, Other Electronics Seized

Additional search warrants obtained by Bigcountryhomepage.com show investigators seized several electronics from Hailey Dunn's home in efforts to learn more about her whereabouts.

The items were taken during a voluntary search of the home Dunn lived in with her mom, Bille Dunn, and Billie's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.  All the items were consensually handed over by Billie.

Colorado City police officer Kelsey Alexander took a memory stick found in the master bedroom, a CD-R found behind several DVDs in the master bedroom, a CD-R labeled 'Hailey Dunn' found in Hailey's bedroom, two pink MP3 players found in Hailey's bedroom, a black MP3 player found in another bedroom inside the house, and a VHS tape labeled 'White Snake' with the name 'Pete' found in Hailey's closet.

The contents of the memory devices were not disclosed.

Another search warrant seized a computer and hard drive from the home of Adkins' mother, Christina Walker, in Big Spring.  The attached affidavit states Shawn Adkins had spent time on the computer.  Walker agreed to let investigators search the computer on Dec. 30, two days after Hailey was reported missing.  Police downloaded thee contents of the computer, and when Walker told Ofc. Alexander that she was coming to pick it up on Jan. 5, the computer was placed into evidence, the affidavit said.


The search warrants were signed on Jan. 6 by District Judge Glen Harrison.

Additional things seized via search warrant were Adkins' car, also registered to Billie Dunn, and both Adkins' and Billie Dunn's cell phones and cell phone records.

Both Law Enforcement And Volunteers Spend Hours Searching For Dunn Thursday

SCURRY COUNTY, Texas -- Around 5 thirty p.m. Thursday, search crews started winding down. Rangers are heading back to plan out where to search Friday, after both officials and volunteers put in hours Thursday to try and find Hailey Dunn.

KTXS Crews spent the day in Colorado City Thursday.

Since KTXS first released the startling information found in affidavits, missing teen Hailey Dunn's mother has refused to talk with us.

Billie Dunn was on "The Nancy Grace" show again Thursday night.

Meanwhile, we're told by family that Hailey's father, Clint Dunn, is still in Midland, following his own leads.

This as the search intensifies in the southern part of Scurry County.

Law enforcement were seen throughout the small town of Dunn, where Billie Dunn's former live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins is currently staying with his grandmother.

Authorities confirmed Wednesday that Adkins is a person of interest in their case.

KTXS was told earlier this week, Shawn is no longer talking to media, per advice from his lawyer.

On the edge of Mitchell County, near Dunn, a group of about 10 volunteers were investigating empty fields and vacant homes.

Heather Maddox, who's been searching for Hailey for nearly a week now, says they're not stopping until the 13 year old is found, "I'm a mom. A mom of three kids, one just a year older than Hailey, and I just felt like this is something God laid at my feet and I had to get up and do something."

As for the information in the affidavits, they say that doesn't change their mission.

"I'm not going to point fingers or make accusations," Maddox said, "after the affidavits were put out I just want to know. I want answers and I want to bring Hailey home."

Fellow searcher Deneise Coates chimed in, "We'll keep doing this until we find her. God willing soon."

Volunteers say they'll be back out at it again Friday.

My opinion only, but Shawn wasn't in Scurry county long enough to do anything with Hailey. But he did come back to Colorado City and there was a chunk of time before he was in Big Spring at his mother's. Seems to me that the target area really would be between those two places. As far as I know, do we know where his phone was pinging during that time, or did he shut the phone off?

Very true~she looked better on paper, but I'd have still tried, I'd have asked for a GAL and then that would have brought in the pros that run the parents thru the ringer with the psych evals etc., been there and done that when my ex fought me.....he lost all parental rights, but it took alot of money to fight and in fact I lost everything but it was the right thing to do. Could it be that sometime during the night after David and Billie saw Hailey on the evening of December 26th ... Shawn came to Hailey's room ... sexually assaulted her ... then killed her to assure her silent and ... covered her with her blanket?

Shawn Adkins left the home at 5:30 AM on the morning of December 27th ... went to his place of employment ... waited and ... then returned to the home immediate following Billie's departure to her job.

Could it be that the return home was a mission to retrieve and dispose of Hailey's body?

I dunno Sea.  I'm worried that LE hasn't done all that they could have from the get go. If she is downloading things at work admittedly so, then I am sure they are looking at it since they found all that info about serial murderers and such.  If I was LE and a child went missing I would look at ALL people close to the child, ALL devices used to communicate with whether it be at work or anywhere!

I still would have tried.  I would have brought in whatever attorney I could get to take the case outside of child welfare..and I would have tied the case up in court as long as I could..and I would have had a private dick come up with this background on the 25 yr old wanna be horror king,,,,and if it took my last breath or penny  I would have have kept on until my Grandchild was with me or her Dad.  I think a child saying  in court that her mother's live in boyfriend lurks around her bedroom and scares her, added to his horror king fetish and his age relative to hers..would be enough to gain atleast temporary custody.  A child that age has more weight in court in what they might feel and say then a younger child.

Another weird moment for me is how she peeked in on her to "ease her mind", yet didn't see her daughter from 10 pm on Sunday the 26th~Tuesday and in all that time she doesn't check in even though she never met the mother of MB, yet no contact period, calls, text etc until she calls her son and ask him to check on her.......why, was she distancing herself?  Just make no sense whatsoever.

She seems very disengaged from reality when she talks about her kids.

Okay...after hearing this I'm thinking SA liked BD to take pain pills and ativan to knock her out.  Maybe the night before she supposedly is missing SA passes BD out on ativan, attacks HD during the night, knows BD won't check on her that next morn and SA moves her to the shed or car that night.  He gets ready for work, goes to work but knows he can't stay cause he has a body to rid himself of and get back to BD's to clean up (if anything to clean up) which takes about an hour then drives to Mommy's home and dumps body somewhere he is familiar with then has all day to concoct fake story and the neighbor could be mistaken about seeing HD that day on the phone in the shed.  Kinda all fits now.  All hypotetical and MOO!

I don't think that Clint had the resources to do that. He was living in HUD housing with his gf. Up until Nov 2008 he had ownership of a house on the same street as Billie. I don't know what his current employment status was. He could see the kids any time and I guess he figured he would have to accept it for what it was. We just don't know. Maybe he was hoping that the kids would just gravitate to him 'cause she wasn't around for the kids alot.

Why state she didn't "touch" her when it wasn't even warranted? Why would she need to "ease" her mind anyway?

I have been leaning toward whatever happened was that night too. I'm not saying Billie was part of it except for being neglectful and allowing it to happen. But I sure think she has some guilty knowledge and had a part in the cover up. I just don't think she is as naive as she appears on camera. She is very quick on her feet when it comes to Shawn. I think she knows he did something to Hailey. Her son had even told her about having to climb in the window and finding Shawn with the deer in the spotlight look. I think she knew that from the beginning.
