Police Search for Missing Mother in Van Buren County

Multiple agencies are trying to locate 30-year-old Amy Sue Henslee of Hartford Township, after she was reported missing early Monday morning.

Police originally took the report from Henslee's husband, who tried calling her from work at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Monday.  She was home when he left the house just a few short hours earlier.

When his calls went unanswered, Henslee's husband drove home from work to find that the house was still locked, but his wife was gone.  She did not have access to a vehicle and left her purse with all her identification at home.

Family and friends were alerted, and they tried reaching out to other family and friends, but nobody had heard from her.

Henslee is described as a white female, approximately 5'0" tall, 114 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  She is likely wearing a black nylon coat with brown fur around the hood, along with black Puma tennis shoes.  Henlee was last seen at home, which is located in the 67,000 Block of CR 372 in Hartford Township.

Police Search for Missing Michigan Mother

Authorities are searching for a missing 30-year-old mother who was last seen inside her Michigan home early Monday.

Amy Sue Henslee, of Hartford Township, Mich., was reported missing on Monday after her husband said he returned home to find the front door locked and his wife gone, police sources told FoxNews.com.

James Henslee, 32, told investigators that he last saw his wife at home at approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday when he left for work. He said he called the house about three hours later and no one answered the phone, according to police. Henslee then said he drove home to find his wife gone, with her purse, wallet and ID still inside the house.

Henslee did not have access to a car, her husband told investigators.

Lt. William Lux, of the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, told FoxNews.com that it was unlike Henslee to leave home for a long period of time without notifying her husband or other family members. Henslee is the mother of two young boys.

"We're following up on tips and leads," Lux said in an interview Wednesday. "We spent all day yesterday talking to her friends, coworkers and neighbors."

Henslee is described as 5 feet, weighing 114 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black nylon coat with brown fur around the hood and black Puma tennis shoes with pink stripes.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Amy Henslee's whereabouts to call the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office at 269-657-3101.

that is very strange that he says she was wearing that, unless if it was more of a sweatshirt type, zip up hoody? i wear those around my house.

does it seem strange he knew what color of shoes she was wearing to anyone? not sure if it is common for husbands to notice those little things... or he could very well have a good reason, as maybe it was her only pair of tennies.. several things i could think of.

sorry i thought i had read that in the main article, but here is the link to where i read she is a stay at home mom, so i wonder who this person is that said that.

i wonder if she worked part time? i suppose the boys were in school? maybe home schooled?

just trying to figure out if she is truly a stay at home mom, yet they talked to "co-workers" as Donks pointed out, yet she was apparently supposed to be home if her DH called and was alarmed she didnt answer...

very well could be, just caught my attention b/c it is stated that she was seen wearing it not that it was missing. but could all be in the way it was reported or precieved by the media too, or how DH reported it.

just seems kinda hinky to me so far, until we get more info i suppose.

Apparently walked the boys to the school bus wearing the coat and shoes that's why no other clothing mentioned. That's all that would be visible to people.

HARTFORD TOWNSHIP — James Henslee isn’t likely to forget the what his young wife said to him Monday morning as he prepared to leave for work.

“I love you,” she said.

Henslee hasn’t heard his wife’s voice — or seen her — since. Now he and the couple’s two sons — ages 10 and 8 — are hoping for the 30-year-old’s safe return.

“I'm hoping for the best but with the more time that goes by you can't help but constantly worry,” James Henslee said. “But I've got to stay strong for my kids.”

"It's very scary when you don't know where your wife is," he told 24 Hour News 8 at the family's home. "And we don't have any clues as to what happened. You just don't know what to think. She's never just left and not came home, without a phone call or anything. Her kids and her family mean the world to her. She's the all-American mom."

i am curious if she does truly have a job or not, the DH didnt state he called her work or talked to co workers, granted she might not have worked full time, or monday..

and that one article is the only one so far that has said co workers, maybe the reporter just assumed??

i will say her husband sounds pretty genuine from the articles i have read, but at the same time anyone can "seem" genuine, and there isnt a wealth of info yet...

Members of the community came together for a vigil on Wednesday night, for 30-year-old Amy Sue Henslee of Hartford Township.  She was reported missing early Monday morning. Police originally took the report from Henslee's husband, who tried calling her from work at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

She was home when he left the house just a few short hours earlier. "She made me coffee and we kissed goodbye, just another day," said James Henslee.

James, who works as a welder not far from where they live, said he called the house phone several hours later to check in with his wife, who is a stay at home mother. Their two sons were at school. When his calls went unanswered, James drove home from work to find that the house was still locked, but his wife was gone.  She did not have access to a vehicle and left her purse with all her identification at home.

"We always check in, we're close, it's not like her not to answer the phone or tell me if she was going out to run an errand," said James Henslee.

Family and friends were alerted, and they tried reaching out to other family and friends, but nobody had heard from her. Amy's parents and friends live nearby and did not get a call.

"She's always home when the kids get off that bus, it doesn't make sense," James continued. "I'm worried sick and just praying they will find her, I want my wife back home safe."

Amy did not have a cell phone and didn't have access to a car.  She is described as a white female, approximately 5'0" tall, 114 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  She is likely wearing a black nylon coat with brown fur around the hood, along with black Puma tennis shoes.  She was last seen at home, which is located in the 67000 Block of CR 372 outside of Hartford Township.

The community has spent the last few days putting up posters to help find the young woman.  Police told the family they do have a lead, but haven't released any more information at this time.

Family members say Amy didn't have any health problems or take medications, and it was unusual for her to leave without letting anyone know where she was going. Amy and James Henslee have been married twelve years and have two boys.

They live in a rural area outside of Hartford, Michigan.

Wednesday night's vigil is being held at the Hartford Community Center to offer support in the search for Amy.

From the article: Many in the small Van Buren County community knew Henslee, who often cheered on her two sons while her husband coached football, wrestling and baseball.

Sounds like he was an involved dad and she an involved mom. Very sad.

I find it odd that there have been 3 women in as many months missing from southern Michigan who look the same. A woman named Tonia Stiles from Grass Lake went missing in November and she didn't take anything with her one would need like a cell phone and keys. Heather Cousino walked away from her mother’s house in Albion after they fought in December and hasn't been seen since. Tonia Stiles boyfriend might have had something to do with her disappearance, and Heather Cousino could be out there and just doesn’t want to be found. I am not saying these cases are definitely related, I just find the similarities strange. Since I have lived in the same place my whole life and have never heard of so many women going missing in a short time. Maybe the papers are simply reporting on missing people more? Brittany if you check back on this site please know we are thinking about you and your family.

From Facebook it appears there is a large extended LOVING family all hoping desperately for Amy's safe return.  Her husband appears to be a loving husband.  Sounds to me like someone abducted her after she dropped off the boys at school.

that is exactly what I was thinking..Hubs probably left for work,she dropped the kids at the school/bus and someone grabbed her then..

Remember the case when a woman disappeared and her husband was a police officer..He was the last one to have seen her, they were going through a nasty divorce..He was the suspect of course..most thought that he was guilty....turns out that someone else actually did harm to this woman..a guy who was infatuated with her...can't remember all the details..

She already posted messages on Facebook to alert friends and family of Amy Henslee, the mother of two who vanished Monday.

Now, all Reed could do was pray.

She joined nearly 100 others at the Hartford Community Center's gymnasium during an impromptu vigil for the missing stay-at-home mom. She was last seen at 7:30 a.m. Monday when her husband left their home in the 67100 block of County Road 372, in Hartford Township, for work.

PAW PAW — Van Buren County Sheriff's Lt. Bill Lux said he believes Amy Henslee, the Hartford Township mother who has been missing since Monday, is alive.

"My belief is that she's still alive, and that's why time is of the essence," said Lux during a press conference held this morning at the sheriff's office in Paw Paw.

Amy Henslee, 30, was last seen by her husband, James, when he left for work at about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Lux said James Henslee is not a suspect.

Amy Henslee may have voluntarily left the house with someone she knew because the front door was locked and she left with her coat and shoes, Lux said.

"We've got nothing to us that says there was foul play," he said, although he did say that police are still unsure whether a crime has been committed.

HARTFORD TOWNSHIP — One day this summer, James and Amy Henslee walked hand-in-hand, arm-in-arm down the sidewalk in Hartford.

James wore his coach's uniform; Amy had on her sundress and looked like a prom queen.

Family friend Wendy Boyd thought the couple looked so happy and in love, like they were high school sweethearts.

"They never ended their honeymoon," said Boyd, who spoke to reporters following a press conference this morning at the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office in Paw Paw.

On Monday, Amy Henslee, a 30-year-old stay-at-home mom, went missing.

She was last seen by her husband at their Hartford Township home when he left for work at about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

During the press conference, sheriff's Lt. Bill Lux said he believes Amy Henslee is still alive and may be voluntarily missing.

video - female neighbor saw a black p/u truck with snow plow on front pull up to house with others in truck and than leave.  Neighbor has some mixed up idea's on what exactly she saw that day. 

I work from home and can't imagine not having a car/cell phone in this day/age.  Don't use them much but for security/safety measures they are there.   

It was revealed Thursday morning that a relative or an acquaintance came by the home before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, but Lt. Lux was reluctant to specify anything further. The fact that she didn't answer any calls Monday was another reason to believe this case is different.

Breaking news on this case.   Not sure how much of the article to post, but the family heard about blood at a trailer belonging to husband's cousin on JVM rather than from police.

Volunteers find Blood in Search For Missing Van Buren County Mother

Volunteers searching for Amy Henslee found blood in a camper belonging to a relative, and now tests are underway to determine if the blood is human or from an animal.  The mother of two has been missing since Monday.

James Henslee says the camper is owned by a relative.  James says that relative told him that  he stopped by the Henslee house Monday morning between 9 and 9:30 a.m., but found no one home.  "I'm not ruling anyone or anything out," James told FOX 17 News.  "I'm just praying that we find her alive."

Police shut down traffic Thursday night on County Road 687 in the 42000 block, where the camper is located, as police search the relative's property.  Police on the scene say it was shut down at 6 p.m., and could remain closed for hours.

HARTFORD TOWNSHIP — The gut-wrenching sobs of Amy Henslee's mother could be heard from the kitchen as she stood by the television and listened to a reporter who knew more about her missing daughter's case than she did.

The television reports from Thursday evening are how the family first heard that police found a trailer with blood in it.

The trailer belongs to a cousin of Amy's husband, James.

How could the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department not notify Amy Henslee's family first and keep them informed before the media, demanded close family friend Wendy Boyd.

The family had been waiting for hours for authorities to inform them of how the investigating was going to find Amy Henslee, a 30-year-old stay-at-home mom who disappeared Monday morning.

The final blow was when the television reporter erroneously said the Henslee family was already called to the scene of the bloody trailer.

As the family watched the news, nearly 20 vehicles were parked outside James and Amy Henslee's small grayish house. There were several news trucks that looked intimidatingly large on snow-covered County Road 376 located next to fields and woods.

Ever since a morning press conference at the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department, Boyd patiently fielded question after question in front of several cameras.

She invited reporters into the Henslee house and answered more questions when James Henslee was too shaky to speak.

And now, after all that, Boyd was disgusted.

On JVM Mike Brooks said they could determine if it was animal or human blood on the spot.  He said there is a 'kit' they can carry for just this purpose.

Considering this cousin of James concedes that he did drop by Henslee home the morning she went missing tells me that this case is not going to end well.

VB Police Investigating Blood Found: Police Treating As Crime Scene

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department may have a new lead in the case of Amy Henslee. A Michigan private search team found blood in a trailer in woods near a relative's house on a property on County Road 687 in Hartford. They are declaring the area a crime scene. Henslee's cousin Junior Beeve lives there, but he hasn't been ruled a suspect. Our reporting partners at WNDU say the woods are used for hunting. Police said a lot of blood was found inside and outside of the door.

When I considered that Amy has no cell, no vehicle, no computer and ... he husband responded so quickly to not being able to contect his wife three house after he left the house ... I was suspecting James.  I know that in the same situation my husband would not be concerned so quickly ... react so quickly.  He would assume I was at a neighbour's home ... gone for a walk ...

I feel quilty.

From my perspective ... James seemed controlling and Amy's life seemed controlled.  Nevertheless ... ALL reports indicated that they had a very good marriage.  James immediately volunteer to take a polygraph so he could be eliminated as a suspect.  Then there were the children.  Amy saw them off on the school bus following James departure to his workplace.

I should have taken other factors into consideration prior to being so quick to judge.

That family must be going through a H--- on Earth at this moment.

UPDATE AT 6:30 P.M. (WZZM) -- Police searching for Amy Henslee have taken away a man for questioning after a pool of blood was found near a trailer.

We are still getting details, but the man being questioned by police is a relative of Amy Henslee's husband-- the same relative who reportedly visited the missing mom's home the day she went missing.

Volunteer dog teams followed a trail from Henslee's home in Hartford Township to the trailer, where the blood was discoverd.

WZZM 13 News has crews following the story and we will have more online and on WZZM 13 News at 11 p.m.

Some relatives of her husband, James Henslee, own the property. Police were there Thursday evening and into the night, and took one "person in question" from the scene for questioning: a cousin of James.

That cousin lives in a camper near the front of the Hartford Township property, where the blood was found. Additional facilities sit about a quarter mile behind the unit.

Yes cookie.  If the friend of the family is correct, her husbands cousin likely killed her.  Shot her and buried her.  So sad on all accounts.  Wonder if they knew there was something wrong with the cousin?

In the video that Klaas posted (thank you) the person on the back of the gator surely was acting oddly if he is not involved some how.
Klaas, I did see what the friend posted............but am wondering how she could know that when family didn't even know about the blood around that time????   Maybe she is connected to LE?

Why did it take three days to come to this point.  I can only assume that the good friend/neigbor who observed the cousin's pickup truck would have come forward on Monday ... the day Amy went missing.

So sad and it really makes no sense whatsoever at this point.  I'm just glad there happened to be a nosy neighbor at this point or who knows what could have been with the way it goes now days.

I think Philip Beebe is his uncle.  I just watched a video on woodtv.com and a reporter spoke to a "Philip Beebe" and I think they said he's the uncle.  Not 100% on that.

WWMT Channel 3 reported that two bodies were found Thursday in a wooded area off County Road 687 in Bangor Township.

For hours Thursday night, police on all-terrain vehicles shuttled between crime-lab trucks parked along rural County Road 687 and a brightly illuminated wooded area a few hundred yards off the road.

At about 10:30 p.m., ATVs pulled a wagon that had been loaded with shovels and other equipment and carried several officers back into the woods.

The area is behind a mobile home at 4287 CR 687 in Bangor Township, north of Hartford.
The mobile home was cordoned off by crime scene tape and a pick-up truck advertising firewood and plowing services was parked in front.

Public records indicate the property’s residents include Richard P. Beebe, 27, and Phillip Beebe.

A ramshackle shed and at least two other vehicles covered high in snow sat near the mobile home. A lot with firewood and bins and a small older travel trailer sit just north of the residence, in the direction of the area police have been searching.

As of 11 p.m., police with flashlights were scouring that area of the woods.

Maybe if Phillip is the Senior BJ is the Junior?  Who knows?  I've been looking thru UFC stuff for a real name for him but all they state is BJ Beebe.  Usually the real name follows in parenthesis but not with this guy.  Somebody must of found it to pull up his record in that news article but I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Police: Wooded area an active crime scene in missing woman’s case

Thursday afternoon, the family requested a private company, Mid-Michigan Search and Recovery, join in the search efforts on the property. The canines of that group located a trailer, deep in the wooded area on the back of the property.

Police say they found a large amount of blood, both inside and outside of the door to the trailer. That trailer is apparently used for hunting purposes, and it's unknown at this time whether the blood is human or animal.

BANGOR — There were signs that something was wrong at the blue house in Bangor where Junior Lee Beebe Jr. lived with his family and girlfriend Tonya Howarth, neighbors said.

Mysterious fires. People constantly coming in and out. Regular shouting matches between Howarth and Beebe. Noise coming from the garage late at night.

"We called the police so many times," said neighbor Jessica Parish, who lives across the street from the Beebes.

Missing mom, 2nd woman found buried in Mich.

PAW PAW, Mich. (AP) - A man charged Friday with the murders of two women found buried near a blood-splattered trailer in southern Michigan was trying to buy the rural property where the days-old graves were discovered, authorities said.
Junior Lee Beebe, 34, was arrested in the slayings of his cousin's wife, Amy Henslee, and Tonya Howarth, whom Beebe dated on and off for the last few years. Both women were shot multiple times and likely died Monday, the same day Henslee was reported missing, Van Buren County Prosecutor Juris Kaps said.

Investigators didn't initially suspect foul play, because it appeared Henslee had voluntarily left her home with Beebe. But friends in this small town insisted the 30-year-old mother would never intentionally abandon her husband and their two sons.
The women's bodies were found about 5-feet deep in a wooded, rural area in Bangor Township, about 60 miles southwest of Grand Rapids, on property that Beebe was trying to buy from his uncle, said sheriff's Sgt. David Walker. Investigators don't believe Beebe was living in the nearby trailer.

It was unclear whether Henslee and Howarth, 36, knew each other.

Henslee's family brought in a private canine tracking unit that alerted the sheriff's office to the trailer, Walker said. The crime scene was about a quarter mile into the property, which authorities said was accessible only on foot or with all-terrain vehicles. Its entrance off a rural two-lane highway was guarded by signs warning of dogs and forbidding trespassers.

Autopsies were scheduled for Friday afternoon, but results weren't expected to be released until Monday.

Walker said some neighbors said they saw two women in Beebe's truck when he was at Henslee's home, but Beebe told detectives that he went to Henslee's house alone and Howarth met up with him later.

Walker said investigators didn't know whether the women were dead when they were buried or if they'd been sexually assaulted.

The court appointed public defender David Hunt to represent Beebe. Hunt said he plans to meet soon with Beebe, but that he likely won't discuss the case until he has reviewed the police reports.

I'm wondering why in the world he is confessing to killing Tonya, but not Amy.  Just not getting that.

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (WOOD) - Former neighbors and friends of Tonya Howarth described her alleged killer, Junior Beebe, Jr. as abusive.

"She'd come to our house with black eyes and I begged her right in front of her mom to leave him," Stacey Bunch said.

Beebe, Jr. was abusive, according to the couple. When 24 Hour News 8 pulled Beebe, Jr.'s criminal record, it listed convictions of assault and domestic violence.

Tonya Howarth never pressed any charges. According to friends, she blamed herself.

"She loved him to death," Stacey Bunch said. "that's what she did."

"We should've did the right thing and called police but she begged us not to," Billy Bunch said. "We couldn't do it because of her and now I wish we would've."

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Facebook page has popped up in support of Junior Lee Beebe, the man charged with the murders of Amy Henslee and Tonya Howarth.

The page showed up on Facebook on Saturday and it encourages people to support Beebe claiming he is innocent.

According to Henslee's brother-in-law the family is not sure who created the page, but they have already contacted Facebook to have it removed.

Maybe some of you super sleuths can find it - I can't relocate it - but I had seen an article in the news that stated Beebe and Henslee were at the trailer, and Howarth met them there.  In another article it stated that Beebe claimed he didn't kill Henslee, but killed Howarth.

What if Henslee and Beebe were having an affair, and Howarth showed up and killed Henslee - Beebe killed Howarth (maybe even in self defense before she could kill him?). He doesn't sound like a decent fellow by any means (abusive to his girlfriend). Just looking at a scenerio that could possibly make sense in him stating he killed one, but not the other. Stand back y'all cause my brain is thinking...neighbors of Beebe said there were people coming and going all hours of the night, fighting and shouting all the time(per news articles a couple posts back)so I am wondering if maybe this man was on meth and maybe making it?  We know how delusional one can be on that.  My point being his cousins wife may have had absolutely nothing to do with this situation other than Beebe, in an altered state, dreamed up Henslee was out to get him or something like that and he went after her and intended to kill her.

maybe Beebe was trying to rape Amy and Howarth walked in and saw him doing that..he killed Amy cause she would talk and killed Tonya cause she was mad at him for trying to be with Amy? Amy was the object of Beebe's affection but she did not return the feelings? dunno..all kinds of scenarios until we get some actual facts from LE...
what we do know is that 2 women are dead...I hope he gets the worst possible punishment for what he did...

If this is true it strikes me as very odd that Amy would get into his truck.

Maybe Beebe made up some story to get her into the truck, or threatened either her or her children in some way to get her into the truck?  I just don't know.  Maybe we'll get more information soon.

Prosecutors have charged Beebe with two counts of open murder, but Beebe claims he didn't shoot Amy, Tonya did.

Beebe says he and Amy were having an affair and Tonya walked in on them. Beebe claims Tonya shot Amy in a fit of rage. He says he tried to get the shotgun away from Tonya when it fired.

On Monday Newschannel 3 spoke with forensic experts about how they determine whether the evidence supports Beebe's claims.

To get a better grasp on the likelihood of proving or disproving Beebe's alleged claims about a love triangle leading to the deaths of Henslee and Howarth, Newschannel 3 spoke with Det. First Lt. Chuck Christensen of the Michigan State Police.

Christensen couldn't comment on an open case, but did talk generically about forensic evidence gathering, like analyzing blood splatter caused by gunshots.

“That blood can tell you a lot about where a shot came from,” said Det. Christensen, “what the trajectory was, things of that nature.”

Beebe allegedly claims that Tonya shot Amy first, then he fought with Tonya over the gun, which is when she was killed. Christensen says a struggle could leave a lot of evidence behind.

“You could be looking for many things, such as blood smears, transfers from one person to another in terms of bruising, DNA transfer,” said Christensen.

Christensen says investigators also need to be wary of a staged scene or even a faked struggle in any given case.

“By looking at it through experience, the investigator's experience and things like that, with how things normally happen, then you can make a determination if it was staged or not,” said Christensen.

It is not yet know what evidence was collected from the crime scene, and it could take months to get lab work back.

Tolerance, I agree with you.  I can't understand why she would get in the truck with him. . . I suppose he could have told her something had happened to James at work?  In the pictures of Amy and Beebe together it doesn't look like she is frightened of him. 

As an aside, I don't understand why the people running in that circle had such a fascination of flipping off the camera.   ::MonkeyEek::  James does it alot and so did Tonya. 

This was so touching to me - I feel such sorrow for the man and his kids.

HARTFORD — Nearly every pew at Hartford Federated Church was packed as several hundred people gathered today to say goodbye to Amy Henslee.

Henslee, 30, of Hartford Township, was killed last week. The cousin of her husband, Junior Lee Beebe Jr., was charged in the deaths of Henslee and Tonya Howarth.

Howarth's funeral was Wednesday in Benton Harbor.

BANGOR, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The mother of Junior Beebe, Jr granted Newschannel 3  her only tv interview.

Beebe's mother Karen says her son is not the villain everyone's making him out to be.

She says he's not a killer.

"They're portraying him as some kind of villain or a monster and he's not," said Karen Beebe.

Karen Beebe says she hasn't been able to watch the news since her son has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

"My son couldn't do anything like that. He swears he didn't do anything to Amy, that much I do know," said Beebe.

We asked her if Tonya was an accident.

"I am not sure. I don't know," said Beebe.

"I understand why they don't believe him. He's just my son and I love him, no matter what happened, I love him, he's my son. If we could turn back the clock and change this we all would but I don't know, I just love him," said Beebe.

talk about being in denial...wow! his girlfriend and another woman are dead and buried on his property..he has blood in his home..he admits to killing 1 of the women and yet his mom is saying that he didn't do it??? I love my sons beyond life but come on...Mom can still love her son, but don't make yourself look ridiculous...especially to the families who have lost their loved ones because of her son..She should be apologizing for her son's actions. she can still love him but don't alienate others because she doesn't want to see the truth....jmo....If there was no evidence whatsoever to arrest him, I can understand her better...

The Missing You Foundation and Mid-Michigan Working Dogs organizations provided a critical piece of the investigation that led to the discovery of the bodies of two women found shot to death and buried in a rural, wooded area of Bangor Township.

But, in the meantime, James Henslee had contacted the Missing You Foundation, based in Albion, to see if it could help.

Jamie Jones, the lead investigator for the organization, was happy to spring into action. Jones, in turn, contacted Sheila Eldridge, of Sheridan, who works with Mid-Michigan Working Dogs, and arrangements were made to bring dogs to the scene.

The trial for the suspect of a Van Buren County double murder is scheduled for next week, but suspect Junior Beebe has a court hearing today. We should expect to learn more details about the exact time the trial will start and if Beebe is keeping his not guilty plea. Today Beebe will be in court for a pre-trial conference.

Murder trial for man accused of killing Amy Henslee and Tonya Howarth gets delayed until August

The trial is now set to begin Aug. 2.

The prosecutor's office said the trial was delayed because the trial for John Bartley, who is accused of running over and killing Joseph Shoyrer with his car on Oct. 30, 2010, will begin Tuesday in front of Judge Paul Hamre, who is the only Van Buren Circuit Court judge.

PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) - A jury has convicted Junior Lee Beebe Jr. in the January deaths of two Van Buren County women.

Beebe was found guilty Tuesday of second-degree murder in Amy Henslee's death, which carries a penalty of life in prison with the possibility of parole. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in Tonya Howarth's death, which has a penalty of mandatory life without parole. He was also found guilty of firearms charges.

When asked point blank after the verdict was read if he killed Howarth and Henslee, Beebe shouted, "No."

The jury began deliberations Friday afternoon and stayed until around 7:30 p.m. Jurors returned to continue deliberations at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. At around 10 a.m., the court went back into session and the judge addressed the jurors' written requests.

Jurors asked for transcripts of testimony regarding DNA evidence, the layout of the trailer where the shootings allegedly occurred, and testimony of one of the first officers on the scene after blood was found at the scene off of County Road 687 in Bangor Township.
