Search Group Explains Hailey Dunn Merchandise Sales

The group behind t-shirts being sold to raise awareness about missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn sent out a statement detailing where proceeds for shirt sales are being spent.

Kristy Lloyd says money made from merchandise sales goes directly into the Hailey's Search fund set up at the City National Bank in Colorado City.

In a statement, Lloyd says the fund is used to keep Hailey's face out in the public and keep search efforts active.

Lloyd says time and labor is voluntary. She notes no searches are compensated with money.

Unfortunately, the group didn't say how much money had come in and for what exactly it was being spent.  If only these groups would be transparent, more money would come in.  People will give generously if they know exactly what it has been/will be spent.  I just don't understand why people won't just say what has been spent and for what, it is so easy.  Why do folks have to make it so hard?

Since there has not been anything new with regards to Hailey, people are looking for anything and everything to talk about on their Hailey facebook pages. One group does not like another group, one resident hates another resident, add in all of the partiers and drugs and alcohol and poor Hailey's case has become one big nasty gossip mill. It is thoroughly disgusting. People have been sent hate mail, threatened etc just because of false rumors posted. Then there are those who have accused innocent people of bald face lies and their kids go to school in that area and have had to fend off ugly rumors about their parents. I have never seen anything like it. It is my understanding that the three people who were chosen to handle the money for Hope for Hailey are upstanding citizens, did not know the family of Hailey and are keeping records of every penny spent.  One person comes onto the facebook blogs and posts some falsehood and these people lap it up and run with it. It is a feeding frenzy like none other. It makes me question that motives behind so many in that area that claim they are there for Hailey.

I would also like to thank Klaas for running a class act site. I have also come to appreciate all of the monkeys so much more than I already did because they are so much classier than that bunch.

I would also like to add something else. First of all, I am in NO WAY defending Billie or Shawn. However, I have done some sleuthing of my own. So many of the people that are stirring the pot and posting false rumors have criminal records of their own. They also have had drug histories much more serious than what Billie and Shawn have been accused of. In fact, I am just going to say it. Billie Dunn has worked the majority of her life supporting her children with little or no help from any man. Even though she had a serious disfunctional life growing up, she managed to better herself. She went to school and got a nursing license. She is clean and tidy and keeps a very nice home for her children. I have no idea what drew her to Shawn or if she watched any of the disgusting beastiality movies etc with Shawn. I have no idea why she apparently thinks he may be innocent of any wrong doing towards her daughter. I have no idea why she has not put forth much effort at all to look for Hailey. These are the things that bother me as well. I have been in touch with people close to this case and I would just like people to realise that there are MANY people close to the case and in that area that ALSO should be looked at. There is a childs life at stake. An innocent little girl who did nothing to no one. An innocent little girl that should be at school today enjoying her friends. It all makes me sick! There are some seriously sick and high risk sex offenders in that area. There are also a lot of drug addicts and other criminals. I hope LE is keeping a close eye on these Hailey blogs and seeing who is has the biggest spoon in the pot stirring contest. JMO

I was thinking about you last night when I was talking to a friend who was telling me some stories about some of the backwoods people in Texas. I thought "Oh my, this would make Janet's hair stand on end, lol"! I used to live in Texas myself and for the most part Texas is a fabulous state with some fabulous people. I still have family and friends there and really miss it sometimes. There are however some real backwoods, hillbilly types that are much like the the characters in the movie "Deliverance", lol. I too hope LE is checking everything and everyone. Hailey deserves no less!

Sebastian, on so many different levels I totally agree.  It is unfortunate that in other cases, folks getting public contributions/money for what is perceived as a worthy cause end up using the money for reasons not stated.  It does make one cautious about giving.  It takes folks like you that know the inside scope to help set the record straight.
I absolutely agree with your take on the rumors and what I call judgemental people.  Some, even on this board IMO, expect every family to be "perfect" and deem families as lost beyond any hope unless they get their act together asap.  Glass houses are good for one thing, being shattered.

I have always respected you and know how much you care about the missing! I have to admit something. I have always been (a tad bit) LOL! judgemental myself. It has been through my friendship with Carrie that I have come to be more open minded and less critical and judgemental. When Amber went missing and I went to the first Amber vigil, I was taken aback from some of the people there that had tatoos and piercings etc. I will say that I have always been a bit of a priss pot when it comes to tatoos and piercings and the like. I drove poor Carrie i-n-s-a-n-e wanting her to check out all of those who looked weird to me. Here is what I took away from all of that. Some of those same tatooed, pierced people turned out to be some of the best people I have ever known. They stuck by Carrie through thick and thin and were there for every single thing that she needed. They were fiercely loyal and worked so hard to try and find Amber. I will never judge anyone based on looks again. I have also learned that no one is perfect and all of us have made mistakes. I am not perfect and either is anyone else. Carrie is someone who will give anyone the benefit of the doubt until they prove her wrong.

sebastian, thank-you so much for those posts, I couldn't agree more with what you said. It is hard at times not to be judgemental, but I have known many types of people through my life, that many people would never look at twice, that just so happened to be very decent people. I could care less what a person looks like, if they are decent and live their life that is good and right, whatever that may be to a person, so be it.

An arrest, just not what I was hoping for...

Some people have to learn the hard way, don't they?  I really hate to say this, but I hope people don't rush to bail him out this time.  He needs to find his own way to get himself out of trouble, or he'll just lean on that crutch even harder and he will never learn to be a man on his own.  I'd say let him stew in there a while unless he himself has worked by the toil of his own hands to save enough money that he can pay his bail portion.

A bench warrant would be issued for anyone who was not in court when their
name was called.  Clint has enough experence with the court system to know
that.

I have always been able to tell that you are a kind and compassionate person just based on your posts. I have always loved your posts and your thoughtfulness! It takes some of us (ME) longer to learn that you cannot always base a book on its cover.

I am back and forth today between posts and trying to actually run my business, lol! Rather than having to go back through all of these threads, does anyone remember if there was ever a crimal record posted for Clint's brother? TIA!

While I respect your points of view, I must say I have to disagree with Billie being portrayed in a positive light.   She had her nursing license revoked & was caught stealing things from work.   She is a drug addict & no she has not raised her children in a responsible, decent manner in many respects.   She had no business whatsoever to have Shawn in their home & certainly not after what has come out but yet she did while defending him.  She failed her poly & refused to take another in addition to refusing to be cooperative with LE.   CPS came to her home and advised her that it was recommended that her son be placed elsewhere & if she didnt comply they would have done so by other means (court ordered).   He was not removed due to hecklers as Billie stated to the public, yet she let him go instead of ending her relationship with the only named suspect in this case...to me that speaks volumes as to what type of mother she can be portrayed as.   She currently has 3 criminal charges she has to answer to as opposed to aiding in the investigation as to what happened to her daughter....to me there is a reason for that & its not coming from an innocent place.  I have to agree that speaking to family members & others locally can only provide so much & yes some of it can be jaded for whatever reason but I can assure all of you that LE knows more than the public or those individuals do & eventually that will come to light which I cannot expound on further for obvious reasons.  I dont give a dang about tattoos or piercings even though I wouldnt get them, I care about one's character & how they live by example.   Its rather difficult to consider other persons of interest when everything points to the fact that Hailey never left her house from the evening before 12/26.  If any of that makes me judgmental, so be it but I can live with that very comfortably.   

As far as Carrie goes, while I respect the fact that she is a surviving mother by her daughter's heinous murder & feels compelled to help others surviving that horror, I cannot agree completely with what she is doing in this case.   She is no different than anyone else in that regard.  Right now, she is supporting a POI in a criminal investigation and I cannot agree whatsoever with that action.  In a different capacity she came to our pages to give her opinion & express her views.  In her own words she spoke of her angst for being judged herself so if people recognize that bias its only affirming what she expressed herself.   I can completely appreciate feeling hurt by being scrutinized unjustly but that doesnt mean it should cloud one's view when another individual is scrutinized with merit.  There is plenty before her in this case that should have given her great pause, Mark Klass leaving his support with just cause as an example for her if she doesnt want to listen to anyone else.  Carrie's desire to help other families & ability to reserve judgment is to be respected in so many cases admirably so long as it doesnt include supporting a POI/suspect unless they were totally cleared in that criminal investigation.   If Carrie chose to help Hailey's family that didnt include supporting Billie (in turn Shawn) the situation would be entirely different.   That being said, I wish her continued learned wisdom & all the best in her future advocacy endeavors. 

Clint mother's knew what was going on at the house across the field.  Logic dictates that Clint was made aware.  Hey ... Connie says it how it is.

As parents ... both Clint and Billie need to take equal responsibility for the chain of events that led up to the disappearance of their daughter ... the chain of events that neither did anything to stop.  Nevertheless ... Billie is being vilified while Clint is being given a pass.  I consider the upholding of Clint as nothing short of abetting.

I don't give either parent a pass.  It appears that their respective lifestyle choices took priority over the well being of Hailey and continues to do so.  Think about it ... both Clint and Billie are aware of the affidavits the reveal Shawn Adkins's lies and deception regarding his actions and whereabouts on the morning of December 27.  If Hailey were my precious granddaughter ... I would be going up one side of Shawn and down the other in my quest for answers.

Well, even if he states he was out looking for his daughter, he could have made this appearance on time & been done in a relatively short period of tiem so he could get back to that.   Considering we are over the 3 month mark, I think its fair to say he has to be aware that news wasnt on the verge of breaking & even if it did they would have excused him and rescheduled so he could get to where he needed to be.   Nope, cant defend him on this.

Neither Clint nor Billie were willing to make the necessary lifestyle choices to protect Hailey and David from the known unsafe environment that existed within their own home ... protect Hailey and David from the known enemy in their midst.

Then there were the 911 calls ... 911 calls that reveal that Shawn Adkins threatened the lives of Clint, Billie and Hailey.

Why did Billie allow Shawn to move in?  Why did Clint not do what was needed to be down in regards to his lifestyle choices that would put himself in a position to challenge Billie for custody of Hailey.  Hailey was at an age that she would have a say if both parents were deemed fit.

I have not read ANYTHING official which implies that Billie Dunn is a person of interest in regards to the happenings encompassing the disappearance of her daughter.  Until then my theory implies that neither Clint nor Billie were participants.  However ... I believe that the distancing of Shawn Adkins ... Shawn Adkins the official suspect in the disappearance of their daughter ... implies that both of Hailey's parents are aware of the truth.

Hi Capp,
I appreciate where you are coming from. I do not advocate ANY of the actions by ANY of this family with regards to Hailey. I was was trying to point out, that until Shawn came into the picture, it looks to me like Billie was trying to better her life and that of the lives of her children ON HER OWN. I was also trying to point out, and it is sometimes hard to do in writing, that many of those in that area that are pointing fingers have horrendous skeletons in their own closets. Many of those have not held down a job, provided a decent home for their children and have done drugs themselves and continue to do so. There is also a slew of other criminal filings. Luckily for them, THEIR actions or lack there of, have not led to the disappearance of one of THEIR children. I guess it just drives me nuts that so many of those casting stones are far from stellar themselves. I do not know 100% what happened to Hailey. It sure looks like Shawn may be the culprit, but the more I dig, the more it becomes one giant ugly rats nest there. I just don't want anyone to ASSUME that Hailey is dead, when her body is not found. It seems to me that LE would put a lot more effort into finding Hailey if there was even a slight chance that she were alive. I also don't want anyone to ASSUME that Shawn is the only seedy person in that area that could have harmed Hailey to the extent of not looking elsewhere. If Shawn is guilty, I want the charges to stick! I am assuming that many locals in the area read here. I would like to state that based on everything that I have read about the area, the high crime etc, it is NOT o.k. to let your children roam these streets. I don't understand the small town mentality of "we know everyone here, so it is o.k. to let my child walk the streets. IT IS NOT O.K. That is not Mayberry, and even if it were, I am sure even Mayberry had criminals and sex offenders.

With regards to Carrie. Carrie is not on anyones side per say. She is trying to remain neutral and offer assistance to ANYONE that needs it with regards to searches, vigils and keeping Hailey's name out there. People are getting bent out of shape because Carrie is telling the family how to keep Hailey's name alive and I guess I just don't understand that. To my knowledge, Carrie has never publicly stated who she suspects or does not suspect. The only side Carrie is on is Hailey's. JMO

I am aware that media sources have dubbed Billie Dunn as a person of interest but ... official sources (Toombs/Kampfer) have always made it clear that Biillie is NOT a person of interest in their quotes .

On March 21, 2011 ... Sheriff Toombs was quoted stating Billie was not a suspect.  (See above)

I equally appreciate your opinions Sebastian.  I agree there a lot of other seedy people in the midst of this convoluted case, this is true but one fact remains the truth lies with Shawn & Billie despite everyone else's wrong doings.  I'm disgusted with quite a bit and at this point by almost every person related to this case for various reasons, be it lifestyle or moral compass.  Now, some may disagree but the evidence as I know it tells me what happened to Hailey occurred in Billie Dunn's home.  We cam discuss the coulda, woulda, shoulda's and the conduct of others that has occurred since exhaustedly but it comes back to the truth lying with Billie & Shawn.   

I can tell you once again that Billie is indeed a person of interest.   I dont care how many conflicting reports there are, the fact is she IS a person of interest.

Bottom Line!

BOTH Clint and Billie continue to disregard all the past red flags waving at Shawn ... past red flags that indicate their daughter was at risk by distancing the OFFICIAL suspect in the investigation from implication in the happenings encompassing her disappearance.

Something is not right!!

The implication is that you have inside information.  If you are privy to share with the forum ... why does TPTB not release to the media that BOTH Shawn and Billie are persons of interest.

I have never read a direct quote of Kampfer and/or Toombs which stated that Billie was a person of interest.  However ... I have read several to the contrary.  I would appreciate a link to just one.

PT is NOT Hailey's grandmother.  She is only the mother of Hailey's half-sister.  This kind of sloppy journalism drives me nuts.  I have an ex-SIL whose girlfriend continually refers to her mother as my grandchildren's grandmother and it ticks me off big time.   Not because I don't want their to be plenty of people in their lives who love them, but I earned my position as grandmother and I don't share it with pretenders and temporary live-ins.

Are we to assume that Connie never mentioned anything to Clint in regards to the knowledge she was privy to about Hailey fear of Shawn ... about the dangers she knew her granddaughter was exposed to.

I cannot comprehend why Billie has been dragged through manure in regards to lifestyle choices that put the well-being of her children at risk but ... discussion about Clint's lifestyle choices ... about Clint's failure to be proactive in the protection of his children by taking the required steps to protect Hailey from what ultimately happened ... is swept under the rug.  There appears to be such a double standard.

The scenario encompassing Clint and Billie's passivity is something akin to someone lying on the beach and hoping that a child who is struggling in the waves a short distance away will somehow make it to shore.  Well ... Hailey did not make it to shore.  The waves engulfed her.

Hailey Dunn is my focus.  Shawn, Billie and Clint disgust me.  I hope Shawn hangs.  However ... Hailey's parents should also be held accountable for wrongdoing.  Justice for Hailey demands it.

Newspapers are suppose to deal in facts.  How Hailey may have referred to PT is irrelevant to the factual reporting of relationships.  She is not Hailey's biological grandmother and therefore, according to my journalism professor, this is shoddy reporting. 

I can see your point.  Also my grandchildren's friends may refer to me as "Mama" ... or my friend's grown children and their children refer to me as |"Auntie" ... there is no way a media outlit would or should identify me as such.

COLORADY CITY, Texas -- The father of missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn, Clint Dunn, has been arrested for failure to appear in connection with previous drug possession charges and driving with an invalid license.

Mitchell County Sheriff's officers took Dunn into custody Wednesday morning. He's being held in the Mitchell County Jail on bonds totaling $5,000.

Billie Dunn is a person of interest and this has been confirmed by District Attorney Ann Reed.  You can find the thread on Websleuths where I post often. 

They have not publically announced it but can you think of a bigger reason why not to other than that BD had no problem talking to the media over and over again?  The more I have thought about it, I think they are protecting her son, DD, from further trauma by not announcing it publically.

I also think CD is not protecting BD.  I think the reason why he is not bashing BD is because of DD again.  Think of it logically.  If he bashes BD, his and DD's relationship would go sour.  And, what if BD happens to be innocent (which I highly doubt)?  DD would never forgive CD.

Once again I will ask....how can they possibly rule out BD as a POI?  LE does not know when the last time Hailey was seen alive.  All the witness sightings on Monday have been put under the rug and do not hold water.  So, BD was at work on the 27th....doesn't mean that Hailey went missing then.  For all we know, the last credible sighting of DD was at 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 26th.

BD failed her poly on the question of participation in the disappearance of Hailey and the whereabouts of Hailey.  How can she be cleared if she's shown deception there?  The very questions that SA also showed deception on.

I intend no disrespect but ... I cannot comprehend why District Attorney Ann Reed would reveal to Trish's trusted friend on March 15th privileged information that Billie is a person of interest in the Hailey Dunn case.  Think about it.  On March 21st SherifF Toombs ... a LE spokesperson for the investigation claimed otherwise.

If the Task Force wished to hold this revelation close to the vest and not release it to the media ... why is Trish's trusted friend betraying the confidence of District Attorney Ann Reed?  Why is this privileged information being posted on a forum for the world to see?  Not my definition of "trust".

Anyways ... Trish does state in regards to this privileged revelation afforded to her by a trusted unnamed source ... "I can't make this clear enough. This does not mean Billie Dunn IS INVOLVED IN HAILEY'S ACTUAL DISAPPEARANCE."

We all know that Pete Kampfer is not part of LE but ... the City Manager was given the task of being a liason for the Task Force investigating the Hailey Dunn case.  This would imply that a professional relationship exists between Pete Kampfer and members of the Task Force.

Its not close to the vest nor is it privileged, its now a SECOND confirmation of same.  I'm rather certain that Trish wouldnt print it unless she was told it was okay to state on a public forum, just as LE informed BTH to make an announcement prior to that.  Typically, DA offices do not hold pressers or release media wide announcements during a criminal investigation, albeit local LE might.  Ive tried to explain that there are two tiers involved in this criminal investigation with some obvious conflict noted by everyone.    This matter of Billie being a POI is actually nothing out of the norm of procedure given her failed poly, her continuous lies, involvement with the only named suspect including defending him as well as evidence that is leaning towards Hailey having never left the home after the evening of the 26th, to those familiar with criminal cases her being a POI is to be expected.   There is a distinction between being considered a POI or a suspect.  Billie is a POI in regard to the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, it doesnt stipulate whether that is direct or indirect involvement or if any at all for certain but please do not mistake Trish's added words (in bold above) as part of what the DA's office told her friend.  The key point is that Billie Jean Dunn cannot be cleared at this time.

Regardless, stating she is or isnt a POI doesnt matter one bit unless or until she becomes a suspect and/or is charged with something regarding Hailey's disappearance.   What should be the focus is finding out what she knows, when she knew it & if she had any involvement during the commission of a crime or has knowledge after the fact (same for Shawn) and that is exactly what several agencies of LE is concentrating on, as they should be.   They are also looking into if there is anyone else involved, gathering evidence & moving forward as the case presents itself.   This case is convoluted & complicated for a variety of reasons, patience is short by many but its going to have to be tested further.

I have a feeling that this case is going to get a whole lot uglier! It is all so tragic. I look at Hailey's sweet picture and cannot fathom all of the ugliness that has surrounded her and continues to surround her.

Oh Cappy, thank you again for putting into words what I can not!  In regards to Amber's Mom whom I really adore and admire, I kinda felt like we were being scolded (that is too hard of a word but can't think good this early) for speaking against BD.  I understand her point and respect it but some of us here are speaking against the people we are because of Hailey and she is the only reason we are here.  I don't understand her speaking up for BD but I do understand from the point of helping keep Hailey's name/face out there.  Why not just go to the wonderful orgs set up to search for Hailey and use your knowledge there instead of speaking w/BD and helping her?  What has BD done with the knowledge given her by Carrie?  She's grown deep roots on her couch from what I can see and I doubt she told her to lie to LE when at the door looking for SA, etc., etc., and etc.!  In fact Cappy I'm just gonna say I agree with just about everything you say!  From now on when I post I'm just gonna say...See Capps Posts! lol

Clint Dunn arrested in Colorado City

Clint Dunn, father of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, was arrested this morning at the Mitchell County Courthouse for failing to appear on two misdemeanor charges, Sheriff Patrick Toombs reported

Dunn, 33, arrived late for court, which started at 9 a.m. and was arrested at 9:40 a.m. Toombs said. He is in custody at the Mitchell County Jail charged with failure to appear on a possession of marijuana charge and a charge of driving while license invalid. Dunn will be magistrated this afternoon and bond is expected to be set at $2,500 for each charge, Toombs said.

On February 15, Dunn turned himself in at the Scurry County Jail for a county court commitment on a probation violation for possession of marijuana, expired driver’s license and unsafe backing. He was released after sitting out his fines.

When the words within the affidavits are considered ... I cannot comprehend why official flyers/posters were not distributed early on by investigators ... official flyers/posters with a photo of Shawn  ... a photo and description of the vehicle that he was driving on the morning of December 27th and ... and an identifiction of the areas indicated by the cell phone pings.

Could flyers/posters have jogged the memory of at least one witness who may have unknowingly observed the disposal of a body?

Think about the efforts of investigators in the Kyron Horman case and ... Terri Horman has yet to be officially declared a person of interest.

The two-page flier includes pictures of Horman, Spicher and the white pickup truck Horman was driving on June 4 the day Kyron vanished, and in it police ask residents if they saw the two or the pickup between the hours of 9:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. that day.

The question wasnt what Hailey may have referred to her as, PT refers to herself as "grandmother."  When PT is speaking to the media that is how she refers to herself & they have reported it as she stated....it is not their job to correct her or answer to her angst if they change what she stated.   "Journalism" as we knew it or even in its disciplined concept in general is a conversation for another forum but if we look around what is in our papers, blogs & TV stations we're a far cry away from that these days.

The thing that bothers me the most is that Hailey's life is not so different from so many others out there. It is not the "norm" but it is certainly not rare. There are so many children around the world living lives like this, it really makes you question our society as a whole that nobody, the government included, steps in to intervene.

Good question.  I still wonder who thinks there would possibly be a living Hailey living out in a pasture or creek after all this time.  I am glad in some of the recent round-about-talk to see that more people had considered that possibility, even if still holding out hold for Hailey, than was originally reported by the media and from first reactions on places like facebook - where you would think the idea had never even been considered.

It is highly unlikely that you will get a specific answer to that question.  It was put out as a general warning due to concerns that were already brought to their attention but details shouldnt be expected regarding who it may involve and what occurred for obvious reasons.   I've seen a lot of speculative conversation on FB and other pages regarding persons & conduct but people have to also keep in mind that while they may be exposing something it also gives individuals that shoudnt have the information a heads up.   "Taken seriously" implies that criminal charges can be brought to individuals that do not follow the guidelines for searching or hinder the investigation in any manner.    You have to constantly weigh the public's right to know without compromising any aspect of an active criminal investigation.

It depends on who takes the lead in the investigation, if the FBI is the lead investigating agency than the answer would generally be yes.

Well technically it's a new charge - of failure to show, but on two old charges.  He was bonded out.

I was looking this forum a couple days ago and my daughter (age 12) came in to the office and saw one of the pictures of Hailey.  She says, "Wow...mom...that girl looks just like me!  Who is that?"  And I stopped for a second and realized...oh my gosh...she's right.  They do look so much alike.  The smile, the eyes, the face expressions.  Maybe it's that age...or naiveness that is similar.  I don't know.

Anyway, really wish LE would turn up the pressure.  Has there been any more talk about a Grand Jury lately????

There can be so many different implications, but I'm going to take what is ONLY a wild guess and say that it sounds like (and again emphasis:  GUESSING.... only guessing) that Naomi is no longer with Clint, thus taking Chloe with her away from this family.  That would be the loss of Chloe.  She doesn't have any other granddaughters, and she didn't mention a grandson missing because he isn't.  And since Hailey wasn't pregnant that leaves Naomi's mom.

All ***conjecture*** but I wonder if the worsened family dynamics (who knew they could get worse between these two) will cause someone to talk about anything related to the case?

I do have to agree with her that it is indeed hell.

Could it be that LE may not be implying that Clint was involved in the actual happenings encompassing the disappearance of his daughter but ... investigators suspect that both he and Billie know the truth?

Could it be that there is a Shawn/Clint/Billie past connection in illegal wrongdoings that has nothing to do with the Hailey Dunn case?

Could it be that the reason Clint and Billie have been distancing Shawn from implication in the disappearance of their daughter is because they realized Shawn has the ability to put them behind bars for a long time if he should expose that illegal wrongdoing?

In the process of elimination ... why was Clint Dunn given a pass as a person of interest.  Hailey Dunn's father was not given a polygraph.  For crying out loud ... Shawn Adkins stated that Hailey was on her way over to the home of her father the last time he saw her.  Clint concedes that he was at home.  The earring whch Billie Dunn first claimed in the missing person's report that her daughter was wearing was found in the carpet of her father's home by her brother.  Clint's criminal record and drug lifestyle implies a character that is not above reproach.  Clint has been distancing Shawn from implication since day one.  Why?

Think about the Kyron Horman case.  Communication records affirms that Desiree Young was nowhere in the vicinity of her son's residence or her son's school on the day of his disappearance.  Nevertheless ... Kyron's mother was given a polygraph.

If the Hailey Dun case were to go to trial ... Shawn's defense is going to have a field day regarding this issue.

Clint didn't show up on time for his court date re the mj and driving charges.  The judge issued a bench warrant, Clint showed up late to be arrested.  He bonded out.  Some (PT) say he used his taxes to bond himself out, facebook says a donor did it.  He came out and instead of saying "car blew a tire" or "alarm didn't go off", instead blamed LE for telling him to supposedly "give up" (give up what is the question - he's implying give up searching for Hailey... but did they mean give up child traffick hopes?  Give up pot?  Give up what exactly?).

Colorado City, Texas -

A possible break in the case of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn came today as a member of a civilian search party found a pair of sunglasses and a knife-cover in a creek north of the city.

Midlander Holly Jenkins spotted the knife-cover in Morgan Creek in Dunn, Texas, a small town north of Colorado City.

Jenkins reached into the water and retrieved the cover before placing it on the ground along the wooded shore area.

Jenkins is one of about 100 community members from Colorado City, Snyder, Midland and elsewhere who formed at 2:00pm Friday to conduct a civilian search.

Yes, I agree that Carrie is awsome.  I want her in my corner.  She can really rally folks.  She stands up against criticism, even occasionally creating strawmen to fight against.  As I recall there was almost no criticism on SM of Carrie.  I was in the thick of it, and after the Amber case I will never be the same.  My grief is still acute.  She read quotes of statements from local papers and somehow thought we had said mean things.  We had not!  Still she scolds us.  

Billie is not Carrie, or anything like her.  Not all mothers are saints, nor do they become saints because a child goes missing.    Carrie needs to take a good look at who she supports and defends.  Please let's support the missing children.

Why wouldn't she want to go through with the divorce?  Has anybody heard?  It makes no sense from a financial point of view.  A judge would order CD to pay support for Hailey.  Maybe it has something to do with the house.  If it was in both names, which generally is the way it is in Texas, they would either have to sell the place and split the proceeds, or one would have to buy out the other's interest. 

Unless she still had feelings for Clint and hoped for reconciliation, why wouldn't she go ahead and end the marriage.  Confusing to me... :-?

Did the impending divorce say provide that either Clint or BJD be prevented from seeing Hailey?  For that to go through, there would have to be some evidence brought to the court that the parent was not "fit" to be around their own child.  From what I have heard, both CD and BJD had full access to Hailey, so how could a divorce be granted where one would not be granted some visitation.

This case is as twisted as a can of worms.

I am so sorry about your fall! I have been there and it is very scary. I agree with what you have said. It is so hard to sit back and watch this family and not be judgemental. I can truly say that I have never seen another family like this. I did not follow Hailey Cummings case too closely for that very reason. I got so disgusted with all of the family and players. I just do not understand it at all. I guess that they do not know how to act any different? Ugh! If you look at the parents and grandparents in this particular case, you can see that the cycle is continuing. Our Government spends millions on teaching kids in public schools about gay tolerance, minority tolerance etc etc etc. I think all of that is fine, but I think they need to teach kids about parenting. Apparently there are far too many parents who do not know the first thing about it. I also wonder why no one is holding Child Protective Services in Texas' feet to the fire. Isn't it true that they have visited this family? I sure would like to read that report!

Something smells bad here?   To clarify the record yet once again, when Shawn cancelled it was advised not to let Billie be interviewed but then when Billie kept calling in LE gave the go ahead to let her on air that evening.

Billie Dunn is NOT scheduled to reappear on the BTHN radio show.  There was a major glitch with blog talk radio's automated updates, in fact it spit out two different dates & three different times & we are in the process of getting the page removed, it does not appear on the BTHN radio show page.

Any comment on this, Cappy?  I haven't seen the page referenced, but once a person puts their picture on a social media network, as far as I am concerned, it is fair game for someone to copy and place it somewhere else unless it is copyrighted.  If they write something slanderous or vile about the person in the photo, that's another story, but just cutting and pasting the picture is not a problem with me. ::CowboySmiley::

 

I did receive an invitation, however it is gone along with the page!  Has BTHN issued any type of announcement stating this was not their doing?  I think it might be a good idea, as I would have no idea that this was not an actual invitation, if I did not read on here.  I talked to another friend who listens to BTHN, but is not a SM member and she also stated she got an invite, but when I spoke to her this morning, hers like mine is now gone.  She said she had not received any explanation, either?

I doubt very much that if ther was anything sexual that happened between Adkins and Hailey that Hailey was going along with it. A more likely scenario given the drugs, the porn, the  kind of persons that BJD and SA have shown themselves to be is that Shawn made advances towards Hailey, she resisted and then it happened. 
I wish they would arrest someone, anyone. It's been way too quiet.

Colorado City Mayor Talks Election, Kampfer


Colorado City Mayor Carol Sue Dakan is running for re-election, but she'll have to move past some of the latest controversies coming from her town.

With early voting already in progress and election day quickly approaching, Dakan already has important issues, like debt, that she hopes to resolve.

"For a town of Colorado city size, 4 thousand people, we owe 8.5 million," said Dakan.

But other issues have put the city at the center of different controversies in recent weeks.

City Manager Pete Kampfer has received criticism for certain comments made, concerning media attention and the Hailey Dunn case.

"Reasonably, she probably is, deceased," said Pete Kampfer.

But Dakan discredits those remarks, saying they don't know for sure.

"Oh well he said it so it's got to be true. We don't know for sure that she's dead and that we will continue to search, you know, we will never stop" she said.

He also said he hopes this will all end soon so he can move on with his other duties as City Manager.

"I wished he hadn't had said that, but it was said," said Dakan.

I'm amazed that the hooplah is still over the "deceased" part of the statement, and not the part where he complains that he has no life.

Yeah that just did it for me.  Before, I thought "well he's just doing his job".  Now, I have to wonder why he would go out of his way to lie for her.  And that's what he's doing at this point when he says it's the charges that will keep her from getting her license back.  Even the statement retracting the license states that the reason she lost it was not just unpaid fees, but deception.

Amazing.  You know, I could get over him defending BD - because everyone has a right to a fair trial, and a lawyer, and you can't blame a person for picking a lawyer specialized in the areas that she might face.  I could even get over the schmarmy comments about "our baby", like he was Hailey's family in ANY way.  I could EVEN live with him saying "You feel ___(fill in the blank with some correct social statement)____, don't you Billie" and having her say "Yayuh" like she even listened.  But...it's not a lawyer's job to make stuff up outside of the case and lie for a clinic to try to get her a job.

They'd make a great couple, I think.  That is, if Clint doesn't "take her back" like he said he would do, yesterday on Facebook, if she wasn't always "lieing" (sic) on HDUD.

The whole interchange was crazy and that at Billie's request via Pam at HDUD, she removed the thread.   It was embarrassing to Billie to be called a liar by her soon to be ex husband.     But, we can be sure that Billie knows exactly what is being discussed online because Pam claims to call her frequently.

This lawyer may not be the brightest guy around cuz he probably didn't do his research before BD came running to him and he just spouted out the reason he thinks she doesn't have her license or she told him a lie and the pending charges are the hold up.  She's prolly doing a number on him and personally what normal, rational thinking person would think someone able to get their LPN renewed wouldn't?  I still think that the hospital had fault in letting her work w/o her licensed but it's also up to her to get it and may have just kept it quiet and gave her a new job as long as she wouldn't renew it.  They could've gotten her in trouble which would have brought legal trouble to them at the time.  Frankly, I don't know why it's not a big stink now that all know she gave patient care without one.  Bad, bad news for both.  I just think it was kept hush.  Too bad I wasn't there and rec. care from her at that time!!!!  Her pt charts should be reviewed when that was revealed in the paper!!!!

WHO would let someone work s a nurse without license renewal ? How many others have pulled this off as well ? Sounds to me like the
head of nursing and hospital Admin. need a reaming out.....

I'm in the nursing field and later took an office position and my head would be off and fired if I allowed a nurse or anyone to work without a current license.  I'll tell you how I think this went down...say you have a friend in HR who is responsible for sending you the friendly memo to remind you to renew and you and HR buddy have the same kind of habits...see where I'm going with this?  It's a small town, how could someone overlook something that important?  A hospital could lose it's credentialing because of mistakes like that.  Although, I must admit somehow it could have gotten overlooked but I seriously doubt it.  I think it was hidden.  There are a couple of scenarios of how this could go down but I'm banking on friend in HR!  It's almost impossible to submit a fake one too cause I still had to call and verify with state that license was active and in good standing (no complaints filed against nurse).

Melisb, Years ago when we got paper copies of our nursing license, a home health agency hired an RN. Later it was found she had forged the license changing it to her name. She had never been to RN school. The home health agency turned her in, they had to repay all monies received for the cert periods she had done visits, lost the ability to bill medicare/medicaid for services for a period of time,(seems like it was 1 or 2 years) which caused them to have to close.
Now when a nurse applies or is hired in Texas, the employer goes to http://www.bne.state.tx.us/ puts in the persons name and verifies licensure. You can put in Billie Jean Dunn, click on the one that lives in CC and read when she was first licensed, when she lost her license and why. Obviously her lawyer took her word for why she lost her license instead of getting the truth. Of course nothing is ever her fault. It's always someone elses.
It is the responsibility of the nurse to renew but as an employer, it's also their job to verify(as you said someone in HR). Obviously the person in HR didn't do their job(wonder if they are still employed) whether they just didn't do it or were covering for Billie. The other sad part is, when her co workers found out, they gathered a $$ collection to pay to have it renewed. To show her gratitude, she didn't show up at the nursing board hearing so her license was revoked.

According to Tx rules, she wouldn't be able to fight to have it reinstated at this point. She would have to go back to school and pass boards again AFTER the board agreed for her to do so.

BTW license's expire the last day of your birthday month. If I remember correctly, you initially get a 1 year license, renew the first time and get a 2 year license which continues to be a 2 year license thereafter.

I'd be interested in knowing when the last time was that Billie Jean worked as a nurse, LVN in the hospital.   She stated she was working as a secretary/unit clerk at the hospital when Hailey disappeared.   And was her license revoked only because she didn't pay to renew or were there other infractions?   

I'm surprised that she was able to work at the same hospital as a secretary/unit clerk after putting the hospital at risk for practicing without a license.   The way everything is so regulated in the hospitals from licenses, to insurance contracts, JHACO , etc, the hospital could have been reprimanded using money, accredidation, or worse.

You are correct in all areas Thunder and it's the same way here in FL.  I didn't go into it very far like you did but I was also wondering if the hosp admin kept this quiet because they didn't want to return revenue collected while she performed her duties unlicensed?  Of course we don't know if the hosp took necessary steps and rectified the situation but it worries me that this might have gone on and nothing was done about it.  How many others have had this major oops?  Some agencies go online to verify licenses but my co would only allow us to call personally which I like much better.

Hailey Dunn Anniversary Falls Near National Missing Children's Day

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Friday will be exactly five months since Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn was last seen alive and five months of searching has turned up no clues in her disappearance.

The City Manager of Colorado City, Pete Kampfer, meets with the police chief weekly to talk about the investigation, but volunteers are scaling back their search for the missing girl.

Part of the investigation also is focused on what may have been downloaded or added to the devices intentionally, and what may have been stored on the devices inadvertently.

"Because of where some of the files were found, we have to make sure we know if things were downloaded on purpose. The computers involved were not secured, and so any number of people that had access to them could be responsible. We're going to take the time to figure it out and make the best possible case," he said.

Thank you NR!  I clicked on just hoping for ANY news that is helpful so I really appreciate.  I live in a beautiful white sand, turquoise surf area and as I was at work looking at this I was not thinking that I was missing my hubby and son today because they are home safe and loved but about all our missing/murdered little (and big) loved ones that we visit here each day praying for some type of news.  I was thinking about all of them and how they would just love to be playing in the water, building sandcastles, water gun fights, cooking out, etc., things they will forever miss.  It's just so sickeningly sad isn't it?  Where the he!! are they?  Please God, show us the way to bring them home.

Sweetwater defense attorney lands in trouble
Sweetwater man charged with assault

A Sweetwater defense attorney has been arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

John Young was arrested by Sweetwater police early Monday morning and booked into the Nolan County Jail.

An official at the Sweetwater Police Department, who declined to identify herself, said the police chief — who had requested to handle any questions about the arrest — was not available for comment Monday evening.

Sweetwater's police chief said Tuesday that an area attorney allegedly pulled a gun on a police officer before being arrested early Monday morning.

Attorney John Young was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and taken to the Nolan County Jail, where he was released after posting a $12,000 bond.

Young, who most recently has been in headlines for representing Billie Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, has been an attorney in numerous high-profile criminal cases — including bigamy charges (later dropped) against House of Yahweh leader Yisrayl Hawkins — ranging from murder to a mauling by a pit bull.

According to Sweetwater Police Chief Jim Kelley, around 12:15 a.m. Monday, an on-duty officer was "staying at a house in the 2100 block of Robert Lee with his ex-wife."

"He stopped by there to get a glass of tea," Kelley said, when the officer noticed a car behind the house that he "assumed was Mr. Young's." The officer approached the front of the vehicle, at which point Young exited his vehicle "yelling" at the officer, calling him a "threat," the police chief said.

Young then pulled a 9 mm handgun from behind him and pointed it "right in the officer's face," Kelley said.

The officer told Young to stop pointing the weapon at him, then "knocked the gun hand away," at which point the two started scuffling, Kelley said.

"I don't know how long the scuffle occurred, but other officers arrived and helped (the) officer handcuff Mr. Young," Kelley said.

The mother of missing Colorado City teenager, Hailey Dunn, will be serving one year probation after pleading no contest to lying to authorities.

Billie Dunn is currently living in the Austin area where she will serve her sentence.

She must also pay a $1,000 fine and $232 in court costs.

KTXS News discovered that Billie Dunn’s home in Colorado City is now padlocked.
The charge stems from a March incident when she lied about the whereabouts of her live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins.

Some people are speculating that Adkins may be moving to the Austin area as well but that has not been confirmed.

According to a media release from Mitchell County Attorney Ty Wood, the drug charge against Billie Jean Dunn was dismissed after Dunn produced a valid prescription for the drugs found in her possession. The hindering apprehension charge never was accepted by Wood, a spokeswoman in his office said.

Toombs also said that on Wednesday, Dell Ostrander, Billie Dunn's brother, was arrested on two drug charges, two failure to appear charges, and a charge of bail jumping, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
Ostrander was still in the Mitchell County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.

Shawn Adkins, the only named suspect so far in the disappearance of Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, has moved away from the area, according to his attorney.

In an email to the Reporter-News, attorney C. Barrett Thomas confirmed that Adkins has moved away from Colorado City.

"Mr. Adkins has left the immediate area due to his inability to find work in Colorado City. He is now working full time. Mr. Adkins remains accessible to investigators through my office," Thomas said in the email.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Tuesday was the first day of work for Colorado City's new chief of police Roy Owens.

Chief Owens was sworn in last week but tells us his first day has already been very productive.

"It's been pretty busy so far," Chief Owens said. "I haven't done a whole lot as far as setting things in my office up."

Replacing an interim chief, Owens worked as a patrol officer in the city for a year and says he knows how to lead the seven officers on his staff

Colorado City, Texas- It's been almost seven months since 13-year-old Hailey Dunn went missing from Colorado City. With fewer and fewer people turning out for weekly searches for Hailey. Group leaders say they're turning their attention to making sure it doesn't ever happen again.

Though volunteers are short, the new police chief in town, Roy Owens says the effort to find answers is nowhere near over.

"I'm gonna work with those who have put the time and effort in on this case to find some kind of closure, whatever that may be," said Roy Owens, New Colorado City Chief of Police.

As the investigation continues, search leaders are working with law enforcement to launch a new program in the city.

"A program targeted at awareness on apprehension, defense, what to look for," said Owens.

"We just want the kids to know that they're not invincible, things can happen to you and we want parents to know what steps to take if your child goes missing," said Lloyd.

Chief Owens has only been in his position for two weeks but plans on digging deep into the investigation. He says the people of Colorado City deserve closure.

LUBBOCK,TX (KCBD) - A once united group, determined to find and bring Hailey Dunn home is now exhausted, divided, frustrated, and broke.

Search volunteer Holly Jenkins says just the financial burden of gas money to keep up the search efforts has become hefty. Jenkins tells the NBC television affiliate in Midland, KWES 9, that 300 volunteers have dwindled to less than 10.

Also, if Hailey has been murdered and buried in a shallow grave it would be nearly impossible to spot after all this time.

Jenkins states, "They tell us to look for overturned dirt. Well, after six months you don't really know what overturned dirt was six months ago. You don't really know what you're looking for anymore."

I haven't been able to find any other news confirming SA and BD have moved to Buda together. All I can find are stories saying BD has moved to Austin and seperate stories saying SA has moved out of the area. Has anyone else seen this in any other news story or is this one man's rumor filled blog?
The article also has information and pictures of two other people in poor Hailey's world, saying they are either registered sex offenders or felons of some other type. Poor Hailey.
I'm going to try to find more information and will post here if/when I do.

The Search Center has closed and the three board members refuse to account
for the more than $10,000 that was donated to the search.
Richy, Clint's BIL, has someone pregnant with twin boys, even though he is still
married to Mary, Clint's sister.
Billie's mother and brother have both been arrested since Hailey's disappearance.
and Billie herself is now on probation for two years.
There has been no arrest for the child porn.

During the vigil, a press conference was held and Billie, plus three other woman, one who is Carrie McGonigle, the mother of Amber Dubois, and a woman named Holly, were criticizing the way the police are doing the investigation.

"The only place they are looking at is in my back yard, and if they can't find my child they need to get off their asses and find my baby," said Billie.

This is a video of the press conference from yesterday. It mentions that they found bones in a search (six months agao) and LE did nothing.  Really?  That doesn't seem possible, but I hold Carrie in high regards so I believe it.

These are some BIG accusations, however, I agree I don't think that Carrie would make them if they are unfounded.  Hopefully, something will come of this and a new investigator will be assigned.  I believe after 8 months, that a fresh set of eyes could only be beneficial.  I just wonder why there wasn't more National Media called in for this announcement?

The Colorado City Police tell us that in the beginning of the case the investigation was intense, but over time it does settle down.

Detective Kelsey Alexander wants to assure the community that the case is still priority.

Alexander said "It's not getting brushed aside. We just in order of the integrity of our case and investigation, we can't say what exactly were doing. We always have to think that our person or persons of interest are watching."

On a daily bases they are receiving tips, emails and phone calls about Hailey and continue to follow leads.

Alexander said they have several leads "Even as far as Mexico, helping us look for her based on different leads and speculations."

A meeting has been planned for all the law enforcement agencies to meet and regroup on new information involving the Hailey Dunn case in the next few weeks.

The case involving the discovery of nearly 109,000 pornographic images on devices seized during the search for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn has not been presented to a grand jury, and law enforcement officials say they're not sure when it will be.

Toombs said representatives from the agencies involved in the case — Colorado City Police Department, Mitchell County Sheriff's Office, 32nd District Attorney's Office, Texas Rangers and the FBI — had another meeting planned soon to discuss the status of the case.

He said Billie Dunn, along with representatives of various search organizations, criticized the way the investigation was proceeding — specifically with regard to looking at local sex offenders — and the lack of communication between law enforcement and Billie Dunn.

"Well, for one, we have looked at every sex offender in the entire county. Multiple times even. We've looked at them and the FBI has looked at them, multiple times," Toombs said.

"And as far as communication, that was the decision of Billie and her attorney not to speak with us," he said.

When Billie Jean Dunn demanded that law enforcement "get off their @ss and find my daughter!" many remarked that it sounded a great deal like the deceptive diversion (and wording) floated by Cindy Anthony, in an attempt to get attention away from her daughter, Caylee's killer.  They shilled that Caylee was alive and wanted everyone but Casey looked at, including "Zanny", Jesse Grund, Amy H, and eventually George.  Sadly, the strategy of confusion successfully perverted justice for Caylee, but that was what the diversion tactic was designed to do. Cindy refused to let Casey speak to Tim Miller, and Lee refused the polygraph.   Just as birds of a feather flock together, they soon found a 'spokesperson' to fit their needs and personality.

In fact, Cindy had a spokesperson who  insisted that Caylee was alive and police needed to find her, rather than pursue the investigation against Caylee's mother.

Now, Billie Dunn followers are not only hindering the investigation by keeping Dunn from speaking directly to law enforcement, but are asking their followers to write letters to officials complaining that they are not following up on 'leads' and sex offenders.  The strategy is the same as the Anthonys.  Is there a link?

In both cases, police knew, and have known,  that they were not looking for an alive victim.

And so it continues now in Texas, as Billie Dunn followers  do the same:  insisting anything and everything but that which leads back to Billie Dunn and her lies, including Shawn Adkins.

Police have named Shawn Adkins the main Suspect and Billie Dunn as the Person of Interest, with it not known to what extent she has been involved.   Is she merely covering for Adkins, or does she have more reason to lie for him?   They have checked every lead, and every sex offender, and all roads have led right back to Adkins.  Every witness has been interviewed, and the only story that hasn't held up is the one that came from Dunn and Adkins.  They are the ones who lied to police, as they are the ones who have reason to lie.     

What is clear, however, is the strategy of impeding the investigation by, at all costs, diverting attention away from the two main persons of interest; those who failed polygraphs:  Shawn Adkins and Billie Dunn.

COAHOMA- It was late December of last year when Hailey Dunn suddenly went missing from her Colorado City home. Search parties were called off this July, and the case has appeared to have gone cold. However, a group of Coahoma teens are planning to change that.

It's been more than nine months since the teen went missing and the girls fear the community has stopped caring. They're bringing the hope back. The Coahoma High School cheerleaders are dedicating Friday night's football game to Hailey.

Cheer Coach Traci Carr is proud of her girls. "It's all about Hailey and hope for Hailey and the greater good. It's not about them. They're not thinking about themselves. They're thinking about what they can do for others and I think that's awesome," Carr said.

The cheerleaders are also going to be selling all sorts of orange and purple wrist bands, t-shirts and ribbons. Those are Hailey's favorite colors.

Friday's game will break for a moment of silence and they'll also release 14 balloons to celebrate her 14th birthday, which recently passed.

According to the FBI website, Dunn's case is listed as a kidnapping and a $15,000 reward is offered for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the crime.

Hailey has been missing since she was last seen near her home in Colorado City on December 27th.

Hailey's mother's live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remains the only named suspect in the case.

COLORADO CITY - The FBI may have made a mistake when it comes to missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn. Recently, the FBI put the 14-year-old on their website and listed her under kidnapped.

Newswest9 spoke to the Mitchell County Sheriff who told us it was a mistake. Hailey Dunn should not have been listed under kidnappings.

Instead she should've been under "missing person." The sheriff's office said the FBI will go back and fix the mistake.

Colorado City--"It doesn't get any better, everyday it seems likes it's worse than the day before," says Connie Jones.

Dunn's paternal Grandma Connie Jones says that each day of the past ten months has been a constant struggle, and that all she wants is for her to be found.

"We need her home, there's apart of us that's missing and she's that part," said Jones.

Thanks to recent anonymous donations the reward for Dunn's finding has gone up to thirty thousand dollars, an effort by both local donations and the F.B.I.

Hope for Hailey organizers say that all the support from the Permian Basin opens up numerous possibilities.

"We're getting an outpour of caring and willingness to do whatever is possible from everywhere outside of Colorado City," said Stacie Campbell, Hope for Hailey.

Which includes having enough funds to hire a search dog to try and track Hailey's whereabouts, which family friends say helps tremendously in bringing Dunn home.

No developments in Hailey Dunn search

Investigations surrounding the disappearance of Hailey Dunn continue as officers wait for new developments and on evidence testing, nearly a year after the Mitchell County girl vanished.

"We're still working on the case," Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said. "Not a whole lot has come in lately."

Dunn, 13 at the time, was reportedly last seen Dec. 27, 2010, by her mother's live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

Adkins said he was told by the teenager that she would be walking to her dad's house, then spending the night with a friend. Hailey's dad said she did not visit him that day, and the mother of her friend said Dunn did not spend the night in their home.

Toombs said Hailey Dunn's mother, Billie Dunn, is now living in the Austin area with Adkins.

Investigators are waiting on evidence — thousands of images of child pornography that were discovered on a computer confiscated from Adkins' mother's home in Big Spring.

Images of child pornography were found on a memory stick seized from the Dunn home. Investigators seized another computer from Adkins' grandmother's home in the community of Dunn, just north of Colorado City, along with other electronic devices, according to an Abilene Reporter-News report.

An FBI lab in Dallas is looking into the evidence, as is an expert contracted through the Mitchell County District Attorney's Office. No indictment has been filed in the cases, which are out of Scurry and Howard counties.

"Some of us met the week before last on the case," Toombs said. "There's not anything that has changed."

COLORADO CITY, (KCBD) - Eleven months ago Sunday, Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn went missing.  Since then, numerous searches turned up very few leads in the case.

Her family, including Hailey's grandmother, Connie Jones, is still desperate for her return.

Jones says Hailey showed no signs of wanting to run away.  Billboards are stationed for miles around Colorado City, and fliers have been put up from Lubbock to Mexico in an effort to bring the teen home safely.

"I don't want to live unless I know … where Hailey is.  But I make myself get up everyday and do what I have to do."

Investigators are staying tight lipped about the search for the missing thirteen year old.

Jones says, "I'd do anything humanly possible to bring Hailey and put her back in my son's arms because he needs her.  We all need her"     

Most of Hailey's family has moved away, changing their phone numbers, including Hailey's mother Billie - who now lives in Austin with her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.  Adkins was also the last person to see Hailey alive.

"If it was my daughter, there's no way that I would leave that house," Jones says. 

Jones has stayed at the same address and says Hailey knows where her spare key is.  "Hailey, you got to come back.  You told me you were going to make me a bracelet and you haven't done it yet."

"I always cautioned her on never talking to strangers.  She'd always assure me I didn't have anything to worry about.  I'm worried.  I'm worried about my granddaughter."

When asked that anyone you know could be involved, Jones says, "Well, they say that most abductions are someone that you know.  I don't know."

And while Jones doesn't know where Hailey is, she has a message for anyone who does.  "Just let us know where Hailey is at -- that she's alright, please.  Just let us have some kind of closure.  Please."

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Two events will be held in the next two weeks to mark the upcoming one-year anniversary of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, who has been missing since Dec. 27, 2010.

On Dec. 10, a search group called Hope for Hailey will hold a fundraiser at Kent's Harley Davidson in Abilene. There will be free live music and a magician on site. BBQ plates will also be available, along with hot drinks and cookies. The fundraiser kicks off at 6 p.m.

The funding will be used to further the search efforts, according to the Hope for Hailey website.

A prayer vigil will also be held on Dec. 17. According to the Hope For Hailey website, organizers chose to have the vigil early because of the holidays during the following two weeks.

A time and location has not yet been set.

The hunt for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, who was last seen almost a year ago, has dwindled, although her supporters have not given up.

On Saturday they were serving food and accepting donations to fund more searches.

The Colorado Middle School student was reported missing by her mother, Billie Jean Dunn, on Dec. 28, 2010, and is said to have been last seen the day before.

Diana Bien is among those who hasn't given up on finding Hailey, who was 13 when she disappeared. On Saturday, Bien was seen talking with attendees at her Hope for Hailey fundraiser at Kent Harley-Davidson in south Abilene, sipping on hot chocolate during the overcast day.

Bien and other people committed to the cause helped serve brisket, cookies, coffee and soda.

Last month the Abilene group raised more than $1,000 in an effort to bring back search-and-rescue groups.

"I have called the Police Department several times, and they say nothing," Bien said. "They say, 'No comment.' They need to bring the dogs back to pick up on her scent. It's like they've given up hope."

WHAT HAPPENED TO HAILEY?

People around town have their theories about what happened to Hailey — ones they're willing to share and others they keep close to the vest.

Was she kidnapped? Did she run away? Was she sold into slavery to pay off a drug-related debt?

Alexander, the Colorado City detective, said the case had generated all sorts of stories and rumors — "white noise," she called it, that had to be sorted through to get at the truth.

"This is still an open, active missing person case. We are following up on all leads and tips, and we're backtracking and reviewing things that have already been done," she said.

The investigation into the child pornography seized on several electronic devices owned by Adkins also is ongoing, but in another jurisdiction.

Images depicting bestiality and other deviant sexual acts may be disgusting, she said, but as long as they're not being done in public, they're not illegal. No child pornography was seized in Colorado City, she said.

Although Boyd believes there's only a 50/50 chance that the truth about what happened to Hailey will come out, law enforcement officials are confident the case will be resolved.

Sheriff Toombs said he believes the case will be resolved within a year.

Colorado City Police Chief Roy "Tinker" Owens, who joined the department in July and has been working to get up to speed on the case, is similarly confident.

"Eventually something is going to break. We firmly believe that at some point in the future, we will have some closure," he said.

He also believes police haven't been given all the help they can from Hailey's family.

"It's my opinion that, whether or not she was involved in Hailey's disappearance, Billie knows something, and she's not saying," he said.

Almost a year has passed, and there are no answers. But law enforcement officials believe the case will be resolved — some say within a year.

Detective Kelsey Alexander, the Colorado City policewoman who took the call the day Hailey was reported missing, has been the lead investigator on the case since the start.

"Nobody hides forever, eventually everything comes to light. One day we'll have definite answers, and every day we're getting closer," she said.

Hailey Dunn was reported missing by her mother at 2 p.m. Dec. 28, 2010 — a Tuesday. The day before, she was supposed to have walked to her father's house, just a few blocks away, and then go to a friend's house to spend the night. She never arrived at either location.

Even though it was late December, she was reportedly wearing sweatpants, a T-shirt and flip flops. Her MP3 player and her favorite jacket — something friends said she would never leave the house without — later were found at her home.

No witnesses saw her walking anywhere between the two houses.

The last time law enforcement officials can confirm she was alive was the early morning of Dec. 27. Police have not revealed their source but are sure of that fact.

It has been a year since 13-year-old Hailey Dunn went missing from Colorado City and Tuesday the dedicated volunteers who have been diligently searching for her did something a little different to commemorate the anniversary of her disappearance.

They walked what is believed to be the same path she walked before she vanished.

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said the case is largely circumstantial at this point and when all of the forensic computer evidence is retrieved, the district attorneys may begin to build their cases.

But investigators are combing through a mountain of circumstantial evidence which includes computers confiscated from Atkins’ mother’s house in Big Spring, his grandmother’s house in the community of Dunn in Scurry County and a memory stick from Billie Jean’s bedroom drawer in Colorado City.

Toombs said the task for forensic computer experts is to determine whether the pornographic items found on the computers was spam or whether someone intentionally accessed it. The next question they must answer is who was accessing the child porn sites.

A week ago, a vigil was held in the small park across the street from her former home, and Billie Dunn and Adkins traveled from their new home in Travis County to attend. The pain was evident in Billie Dunn’s face, in pictures published in the Colorado City Record.

A somber crowd hung Christmas ornaments on a lighted tree and Billie Dunn placed an angel on top of the tree.

“This month has been hard,” Dunn told the Record. “This is the first Thanksgiving and Christmas without Hailey.” She described the past year as “a nightmare.”

“I hurt for her, for my son and for myself, but there’s nothing I can do about it,” Dunn told the newspaper.

Lloyd said it was good that Billie Dunn attended the vigil, but wondered about Adkins’ motives for attending.

ABILENE, Texas -- Wednesday marks another somber anniversary in the case of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn.

Hailey Dunn was reported missing just after Christmas in 2010.

Wednesday marks the day exactly one year after KTXS exclusively obtained affidavits about the case through the Freedom of Information Act. The affidavits contained law enforcement statements that were used to justify search warrants to obtain more information.

The affidavits made it clear that investigators were looking at Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, and her live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, in the teen's disappearance.

The publication of the affidavits only intensified volunteers' desires to find Hailey.

One year later, Shawn Adkins remains the only named suspect in the case; however, there have been no arrests in the case.

ABILENE, Texas -- After months of little organized effort to find missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, cadaver dogs were out Thursday searching a property north of the town.

Many viewers called KTXS Thursday after seeing searchers on private property near the airport.

KTXS immediately traveled to Colorado City to find out if officials discovered anything, and officers said they came up empty handed.

The tip involved dreams, but no matter how far fetched, Roy Owens, chief of Colorado City Police, said authorities check into all tips about missing teen Hailey Dunn.

One such tip spurred the search Thursday morning of a private property near the airport using cadaver dogs.

"These are seasoned dogs that were used in this case from the beginning," said Owens.

The tip came from a person who specializes in finding grave sites on large private properties.

It was the search for missing teenager Hailey Dunn that brought Kampfer regional recognition.

You almost never saw a story about the investigation without hearing from the city manager.

Kampfer's decision wasn't something the city expected.

"This was a surprise to me," said Colorado City Mayor Carol Sue Dakan.

Mayor Dakan says she has yet to receive Kampfer's formal resignation, he's currently in New Mexico.

Regarding the search for Hailey Dunn, Kampfer said there has been a full time investigator for the case for some time now.

Another search for missing Colorado City Teen Hailey Dunn occurred on Saturday afternoon.

One band of searchers spent five hours searching around the South Mountain and Comanche Trail areas of Big Spring.

Searchers told NewsWest 9 those are areas that haven't been cleared yet and they're looking for more people to volunteer to search in Big Spring.

Not only are they looking for people to volunteers to look in Big Spring but Hailey Dunn searchers also need volunteers for their booth at an upcoming event in Sweetwater.

BigCountryHomePage.com Staff have confirmed that Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs has been called to the scene, as well as the DPS trooper who is investigating the disappearance of Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn. At this time there is no confirmation that the remains may be of the missing girl.

Big Spring is west of Colorado City, where Hailey Dunn was living when she disappeared.

According to a news release issued by the Big Spring Police Department, human remains found today near a pasture near the 2500 block of Apron Drive appear to have been there for a long period of time.

Big Spring Police Department Sgt. Tony Everett said the remains were found by workers in the area around 2:30 p.m. today.

Investigators have determined the remains are human, but due to the condition of the remains nothing else can be determined at this time, said Everett.

The gender and the identification of the remains are unknown at the time. The FBI, he said, will be on the scene Wednesday morning to begin processing.

Sources in the police department say the remains cannot be identified, so the connection to Hailey Dunn is speculation at this time.
The remains were reportedly located on the southeast side of the McMahon-Wrinkle Airport, just over a mile from the address listed for Shawn Adkins' mother in an affidavit from January 2011.

Didn't Shawn say that he was in Big Spring most of the day that Hailey went missing...and the remains were found close to his mother's house.  Hmmm...I wouldn't doubt if this were her.  So sad.

Telephone records obtained by investigators show ADKINS‘ cellular phone was using Verizon cell tower number 724 on the tower northern coverage area transmitter which is located at coordinates 32.41262 -100.86900 in the area of Colorado City, Texas from 6:35am to 6:56am with a break in usage until 9:38am thru 2:40pm when records indicate ADKINS‘ phone was in the area of Big Spring, Texas by pinging Verizon cell Tower #730 coordinates 32.22156 -101.45867 which captured all phone calls from 9:38AM until 2:40PM on the northwest coverage area transmitter. This would be the Verizon tower that someone using a Verizon cell phone at 2807 Apache Drive in Big Spring, Texas. which is Shawn ADKINS mother’s residence.

8:00 PM UPDATE: Human Remains Found At Big Spring Airpark 3/20/12

Law enforcement officials are still on the scene investigating human remains found at a Big Spring airpark.

Today’s discovery has sparked speculation surrounding the Hailey Dunn case. Hailey Dunn was reported missing in Colorado City back in December 2010.

The airpark where the remains were found is about 1 mile from the home of Shawn Adkins’ mother. Adkins is the only named suspect in the Hailey Dunn case.

We are told Hailey Dunn search crews are on their way to Big Spring.

The news of this find breaks my heart for whoever it may be !
I am happy though that a skeleton was found. IF this is
Hailey Dunn, then she can be properly layed to rest.

Once a body is very decomposed isn't it more difficult to determine the cause of death ?

I hope that Shawn and her Mom go down if this is her.

Investigators have not determined the age or gender of the person. Everett said the remains had been there for a long time.

The scene and the evidence have been secured.

An evidence recovery team from the FBI in Dallas will be in Big Spring Wednesday morning to process the area.
