What does it matter when he took the statement. This man did what he had to do and called the police when he thought that trash may have something to do with this case. He appears to me that he doesn't care to get in to peoples business to much. I am sure he has heard alot of stories from people coming to the tow yard.

It bothers me that Simon didn't report what he smelled, back when he first smelled it, which was a few days before the A's picked the car up.  Even tho he wasn't sure because the odor was faint, because the car wasn't opened.  I dunno, am thinking had it been me, I would have reported it then, so LE could come open the car and see what the heck might be in there.  Even so, when he and George opened the trunk, and it was very CLEAR to Simon that the odor definitely was human decomp, WHY did Simon not say that to George?  WHY didn't he refuse to allow George to take the car at that point, but run to the phone to call LE?  Just seems to me that the odor might have been an indicator to Simon that all was not well with that car.  IMO.

I think Simon dropped the ball and like most peole probably didnt want to get involved

how similar does human decomp smell to large animal decomp, like a dead deer in the woods or a dead dog? does anyone know if they can be confused? TIA

Not based on my personal experience...human decomp is definitely unique.

Human decomp is much stronger you will almost vomit JMO
