Also revealed on Tuesday was that defense attorney Jose Baez would not allow detectives to talk to Casey about allegations she made to ex-boyfriends and a jail pen pal that her brother molested her and that her father might have.

"We did reach out to the Baez law firm and were asked not to approach her at the jail," said Sgt. Eric Edwards.

The sheriff's office, the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI are all totaling the costs they incurred in their search for Caylee until her remains were discovered on December 11, 2008.

The State Attorney's Office will ask Chief Judge Belvin Perry to order Casey to pay the costs should she cash in on Caylee's death or come into money some other way. ::snipping2::

ORLANDO, Fla | Tue Jul 12, 2011 5:26pm EDT

(Reuters) - A Florida sheriff's office will provide no special protection for Casey Anthony when she leaves jail on Sunday, despite the public scorn she faces after being acquitted of killing her daughter.

"We're not going to be her personal security," Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said on Tuesday at his agency's wide-ranging and final press conference about the case.
  ::snipping2::

Demings said his intelligence officers were assessing "lots of chatter in social media" and elsewhere by people angry at the outcome of Anthony's seven-week trial in Orlando. But he said they didn't have "credible threats to move forward in active prosecution." ::snipping2::

As for the alleged witness tampering, detective John Allen would only say the sheriff's office has interviewed some witnesses.

"In regards to where we will go, it really depends on what information we get and what people come forward to provide additional information," Allen said. ::snipping2::

EquuSearch suit: Casey Anthony lied about daughter
By CINDY GEORGE HOUSTON CHRONICLE
July 12, 2011, 6:03PM

The lawsuit details how EquuSearch became involved in the case, beginning with a phone call to Miller from Cindy Anthony, Casey's mother and Caylee's grandmother. Miller later met with Casey Anthony, her parents Cindy and George Anthony, and Casey Anthony's attorney Jose Baez. In the presence of Casey Anthony, the grandparents said Caylee was "still alive" and was not corrected by the toddler's mother.

Caylee Anthony's skeletal remains were discovered in December 2008, almost five months after she was reported missing by her grandmother. Casey Anthony failed to alert authorities that her daughter had been missing for a month and was indicted on a first-degree murder charge. In her criminal trial, Casey Anthony's defense team maintained that Caylee died in an accidental drowning in the family pool.

Jurors in Casey Anthony case concerned for their safety

The high school gym teacher in his 30s went on a national show asking not to be shown or identified. He is now declining any more interviews.

The foreman said he "wants to get his life in order" before talking to anyone else. He said he never imagined he would need to hide out.

But is that the only solution?

Juror 12, a Publix chef, retired early and fled the state. She told MSNBC she feared her coworkers wanted her head on a platter.

A not guilty verdict was the not so-favorable result for the thousands, and even millions, who watched the trial every day.

Are these jurors right to be afraid? Is it right their identities are being kept secret even though they are volunteering to go on shows watched by millions?

Those questions remain to be answered.

As the hunt for jurors continues, Juror 11 said reaching this decision was tough, and so far, so has living with the consequences. ::snipping2::

Cindy Anthony Will Not Face Perjury Charges
BY STEPHEN M. SILVERMAN

Wednesday July 13, 2011 07:00 AM EDT

Cindy Anthony will not face trial for perjury after allegedly lying in court to protect her daughter, Florida state prosecutors have announced – saying, too, that they had earlier considered bringing such charges.

Cindy Anthony initially told police she did not search for chloroform on the family computer, only to reverse her statement when she took the stand in her daughter Casey Anthony's trial for the murder of Casey's 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

"Our office is not pursuing perjury charges," Danielle Tavernier, a spokeswoman for the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office, told the Orlando Sentinel in an email.

Jury foreman says two thought Casey Anthony was guilty

The jurors deliberated more than 10 hours, and decided the only charges they felt were proven were the four counts of lying to law enforcement.

He said the jury searched for any felonies to charge Casey with, but given the evidence, none applied.

During more than 30 days of testimony, the jurors heard all about Casey's promiscuous behavior and partying, all while her daughter was missing.

However, none of that was illegal, so the jury did not factor Casey's wild behavior into their verdict.

"We wish there was something else we could look at that would be a felony. Something, we don't have the power to do this, we don't have the ability to put the laws in place for this, but, something where you do not report a child missing it would be a felony for every hour, every day, whatever goes on, it gets worse and worse because her actions were disgusting."

The jury foreman said he wishes they could've at least charged her for waiting 31 days to report her daughter missing. ::snipping2::

- Orange County sheriff Jerry Demings said Tuesday that an intelligence detective has been assigned to assess any threats against Casey Anthony.

Demings also said that deputies will make sure Anthony is released from jail safely, but said they will not be escorting her to wherever she chooses to go.

"We're not personal security," Demings said.

Anthony is expected to be released from the Orange County Jail on Sunday. A jury recently found her not guilty of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony. ::snipping2::

Casey Anthony is expected to get out of jail this weekend.

If so, the news will once again energize the cult of Casey.

These are the people whose prime source of entertainment for the past three years has been the death of a 2-year-old girl.

Casey Anthony: Tony Lazzaro is shopping a book

Caylee and Casey Anthony, Orlando Sentinel — posted by halboedeker on July, 13 2011 9:01 AM
Tony Lazzaro, Casey Anthony’s former boyfriend, is shopping a book, says a source familiar with the project.

The focus? “The interaction that the roommates had with Casey around that 31-day period” after Caylee went missing, the source said. “It’s going to be a must-read. It’s going to be insane.”

A failure of the justice system

That's not to say the jury should have convicted Anthony of first-degree murder. Reasonable people can disagree about the amount and quality of evidence.

But the six-week trial once again revealed problems in a justice system that we Americans regard as the greatest in the world.

Perhaps most troubling was this one cold fact:

In 2011, with all the cutting-edge forensics at our disposal, with a sophisticated court system evolved over centuries to sort truth from fiction, we couldn't identify and convict to the satisfaction of 12 educated people the killer of one of the most vulnerable members of our society.

It's a failure. A swing and a miss. Any argument to the contrary is to accept a substandard brand of justice, to settle for something less when we should aspire to something more.

To most of us, this wasn't an entertaining contest between attorneys. It was a contest between good and evil, and evil, it seems, won this time.

That is the fountainhead of our public outrage.

Emergency motion demands quick deposition of Casey Anthony

ORLANDO --

Attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez want to make sure they will be able to take Casey Anthony's deposition within the next week.

Gonzalez's attorney John Morgan filed an emergency motion to compel Casey's appearance at a videotaped deposition.

Morgan wants to either force Casey to answer questions under oath before she leaves jail, or have the judge force her to appear next Tuesday in Morgan's office for that deposition. ::snipping2::

Casey Anthony: Lawyers fear Casey Anthony won't show for deposition in defamation case, file emergency motion
Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez is suing Casey Anthony for defamation. Hearing is set for 10 a.m. Friday.
By Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel
4:48 p.m. EDT, July 13, 2011

The attorneys said it is "imperative" they question Anthony.

They also presented another option — the lawyers are willing to depose Anthony at the jail before she is released.

Anthony told detectives in 2008 that her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie was kidnapped by a babysitter named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.

Detectives said no such nanny existed, and the Kissimmee woman eventually filed suit against Anthony.

During Anthony's murder trial, defense attorney Jose Baez said Anthony fabricated the story about Zenaida, and that Caylee accidentally drowned in the family's pool.

Anthony was found not guilty last week of murdering Caylee, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter. Jurors convicted Anthony of four counts of lying to law-enforcement.

In their emergency motion, the attorneys representing Fernandez-Gonzalez asked a judge to compel Anthony to be deposed Tuesday, or in the alternative, before she's released from jail.

A hearing was set for the issue 10 a.m. Friday before Judge Jose Rodriguez. ::snipping2::
