Does anyone know what the judge means by "special" recess? He says it every day!
I think he means a smoke break.

Cindy leaving the stand for the 15-minute recess.

I think I saw Lee in the back next to Lippman but could not get a capture of it fast enough.

I think she asked to go to the bathroom to a male bailiff and I think he pointed her in the direction of a female bailiff to take her? just what I got from it..

Sidebar over.........10:35am.  Now a 15 min recess.  That poor jury must be so tired of this.  I think Cindy is telling the truth.  Casey is watching her every move, especially when she left the witness stand.  Cindy looks so heartbroken, she keeps her head down most of the time.  Casey is just stone faced, she primps and plays with her horrid bangs but other than that she makes no facial gestures.  She isn't even trying to play attorney or talk to Ms. Simms.  She sticks her chest out almost constantly, looks so out of place and very deliberate.  A deputy just told Casey something and she gave him a sly little smile, she flirts with anyone and anything who pays her the slightest attention.  Casey got up and left on her own, went out the side door, I was surprised to not see a deputy follow her.  One must of been waiting for her.  Casey has definitely been told about acting out and talking, this is the least she has talked to anyone since the beginning of the trial, with or without the jury present.

That's exactly what I saw, too.

In that picture of Cindy coming off the stand, is she looking at Casey?

Even though Cindy is downplaying some things, I believe the jury is thinking it has to be one way or another and not inbetween.  The have to base their decision on concrete evidence not lukewarm.  I believe the jury will see through Cindy's 'figure of speech' stuff especially once they hear Cindy on the 911 tape saying the car smelled like a dead body.

Beth Karas (spelling?) said that it's not enough to exonerate her but may be a mitigating factor in the penalty phase if she's convicted.

Hard to tell. She is looking in her general direction though.

I agree, and I also think the jury will be somewhat "forgiving" of Cindy for playing both sides, with the understanding she has lost her grandchild and want(ed) to hold onto her child.

Not if the jury feels its a total lie...and most will IMHO.  DP is majority not unanimous.

Sorry Caylee, the jury took your day away.

« Reply #498 on: May 31, 2011, 10:46:25 AM »

Two questions.

1.  Why would it be such a big deal for Cindy to have put dryer sheets in the car?  Why would she not admit that previously?

2.  Why did Cindy 2x mention the knife if she is trying to protect Casey?

I don't get it.
