I was wondering about similarities to our case in the MO of the suspects.

And how the victim was treated.

Can this kind of rape/attack be a WORLDWIDE "marker" of sorts for deranged young men sort of a fad they participate in?
unfortunately, it may very well be possible. It is a subject I am interested in delving into some more. If I find some common link to what you speak of, I will post it.

I opened a thread in the Crimes against Children forum where I posted the main article on Klaas" advice.  It would be interesting if there is a common thread to this type of crime.  Are you considering background and upbringing in this subject.  I would think that their racial background may well be significant in this.

Tibro - I know there are people who will disagree vehemently with me on what I'm about to say, but I truly believe violent video games and easy access to pornography are partly the cause of this behavior. If young men "practice" violence repeatedly as they are growing up, and if they see women used as objects in pornography, I think it has to have a serious effect on them.

BT - I agree 100%.  When people (and especially young people) are exposed to violent depictions be it on TV, movies, video games or whatever the latest fad is, they must become desensitised to  the true horror of these practices.  And I believe that the video games are the worst offenders in this regard as the player becomes involved in the action in the first person and is not merely an onlooker.
Pornography is everywhere in increasingly more lurid detail.  Even TV advertising has crossed the line of decency in many instances, and I find "family friendly" shows rely more and more on adult behaviour to ensure ratings.  Women are no longer held in respect in many instances.  Some blame the girls for their behaviour but what are their role models?  A lot of so-called celebrities are nothing more than persons of low morals who have got where they are by "horizontal progress".   Rant over.

Bt, I agree stuff like this certainly does not help.

Monkeys, this is way way O/T, but I wanted to share it.

This is the latest piece of furniture I purchased for the sock monkeys. They now have their whole living room furnished.

Hey guys! This just in:  Local area Wally World reported the strangest thing today.  Some woman raced into the store and grabbed a shopping cart.  Taking out three elderly ladies in aisle 5, the person then demanded entrance to the self-checkout lane.  She said she was just trying it out.  After a quick exit the person in question ran a red light at the intersection and zoomed off into the sunset.  Witnesses claim the person driving the car resembled a monkey.  One of the elderly ladies said she was mumbling about a our southern accents and our slow paced driving.  Police believe this person had an accomplice in the car that was armed and dangerous.  Should anyone see these two monkeys...uh, I mean...women please call the authorities.  Do not attempt to apprehend!

Klaas I have proof you were in my neighborhood...wonder if there is a reward?  Was that San riding shotgun with you? Rolling Eyes

Well, their actual house is a 2200 square foot, two-story building that they let me share.  Laughing

For sock monkey story purposes, however, hubby hinged together several large pieces of lumber that we set up as a backdrop and arrange the furniture for whatever room they're supposed to be in. Right now we only have the living room and bedroom furnished, though. I think I'll start on the kitchen next.  Laughing  Laughing

BT - that is adorable.  All ready for Christmas too, I see.
I collected Teddy Bears and was going to buy them some rocking chairs etc., but the chairs cost more that most of the bears!  So they get to sit in a bookcase instead.

You mean you have left them to starve all this time?  Or do they just order pizza delivery?

Tibro - all that stuff is soooo expensive, but I have plans to get my money back. I'm hoping to turn my sock monkey stories that I photograph into something I can actually sell. Wish me luck!

Those sock monkeys are the worst fast-food junkies in the world! No wonder people refer to them as being "stuffed."  Wink
