Okay, I don't get it.  Wouldn't that hair that was still attached to Caylee's skull ... and the duct tape ... when the skull was found ... have a death band?  Someone explain please?  I missed everything after 10 EST. 

Scientifically I do not see how this is possible. If she died as a result of the duct tape, I get it. If the hair attached to the tape had no banding, what did KC do, pull it out while she was alive. I personally would like to see a link that said the hair on the duct tape had no banding. All that proves is that not all hair develops it, or its not true.
Once Caylee died, the hair stuck to the duct tape should show the banding.. anyone?

Hi Flamom.  The way it was explained is that the death band can only appear on a hair after death.  Usually after  a few days but they have seen as early as 2 days.  Not all strands of hair will have a death band.  They don't know why this is. 

The thing that they do know is that this death band can not be replicated. The only way a death band appears is after death during decomposing.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Snoopy, I understand, I was being facetious.. The hair on the duct tape HAD to have the banding whether it was put on Caylee dead or alive.. I guess I have bozoitis as far as explaining

Janet, not every hair gets a death band. So, it could make sense. However, we haven't gotten to the duct tape hair yet. Only what was in the car.

Fortunately the one and only hair found by investigators in the trunk of Casey's vehicle following Cindy's clean spree revealed a death band.

Murphy's law would indicate that some of the strands of hair attached to the duct tape  should reveal a death band.

One would think so, unless the duct tape ripped them out before that could happen. I admit that I haven't read about the duct tape hairs yet. So, I honestly don't know.

Thank goodness that one of the hairs in the trunk showed the deathband and was consistent with Caylee's hair ..just one single hair in the trunk shows the deathband..but that evidence can place a dead body in Casey's trunk.  Now unless she was transporting other dead bodies..one has to conclude that hiar was Caylee's.  And Casey is done.

The only known source of a hair with a deathband is a decomposing body.
The deathband hair found in the trunk has only one known source and that is a decomposing body.
Although hairs on the duct tape were found, it was already known they were hairs from a deceased/decomposed person.  We do not know with certainity if there were any hairs with the deathband because those hairs have not been entered into evidence.
The hair found in the trunk equals a decomposing body.  Further testimony regarding decomposistion residing in the air samples, carpet samples, etc. will be forthcoming.

TY IBE..I do the same..watching DIY right now..also think the Food channel and HGTV are great ..and give a nice respite form the insanity of this trial.  HLN, and CNN I know by heart..but don't watch Fox Cable News much..

loca, I haven't a clue....I can't even imagine how they are gonna try to play this...if they try to follow some kind of time line...I think it will be fairly quickly....I think the bulk of their 'defense' is gonna be the psychologists testifying about  'sexual abuse' is responsible for her hiding Caylee and her actions during the 31 days...they have already layed a brick or 2 about living in a family of lies, living lies etc.  IMO none of it is gonna fly with the jury.

Not all cadaver hair has the banding...I have heard no mention of any of the hair mass having any banding.....I think this one hair was put there by an as GDd said

The way I understand this is :

Not every hair on a deceased individual will show the deathband..and they are not sure exactly what factors might come into play..say what stage the hair was in it's individual growth cycle, etc.  So some hairs may have it..some not...that's all I got out of it..then Baez tried to get the duct tape in..and prosecution objected because they haven't gotten to the dispoal crime site info in the testimony.

I don't know all about this case like ya'll do, but here is how I see it.   The state is
methodically laying out their evidence.  They are just to the point of examining the
car and what was found in that car.   One hair was found in the trunk of the car that
showed death banding according to the FBI witness.   That hair was pulled out by
the root....could have caught on Casey watchband or any number of ways.  That hair
was nine inches long and matched Caylee's hair.
The way the state is presenting their case, they have not gotten to the discovery of
Caylee's body and what was found with it.   We don't know about the duct tape yet,
or how it came into evidence.  The jury just knows that the car smelled of death and
the hair of the dead baby was found in the car, which pretty well tells them that the
dead baby was in the car during decomposition.

  Never thought of it that way, but I do believe it was put there by an angel. Divine intervention is going to brink KC down.
