Published : Monday, 19 Dec 2011, 10:32 PM EST

MYFOXNY.COM - The parents of a missing Indiana University student from Westchester are breaking their silence.  Lauren Spierer's parents have come forward to speak out about their missing daughter.

Heather Brown with Fox 5 News spoke to them.

They say it's still as difficult as it was in those first few days since her disappearance with no clues.

The talked about how they think the Bloomington Police Department is handling the case, why they thought it was a good idea to bring in their own investigator and their frustration with the young men who were the last to see Lauren, including one who has refused to speak with police.

YW, Sister.  It will be very painful for the family, especially the first holiday without Lauren.

I so admire Lauren's parents; they have done everything in their power to find out what happened to Lauren and to bring her home.  Their determination reminds me of Beth and Dave Holloway, who have worked so hard for years for answers and justice for their daughter, Natalee.  Sending special prayers of comfort to both families.

Spierer's say PI found new information regarding daughter's disappearance
The Spierer's said there are new developments in the case that could soon be released.

New York

New information has surfaced regarding the disappearance of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer.

As Hanukkah begins, Lauren’s family returned home for the holiday season.

 ::snipping2::

The Spierer’s hired private investigator Bo Dietl to further investigate. When asked if their private investigator found out anything the police did not, the Spierer’s replied ‘yes.’

Fox59 spoke with Dietl on the phone and asked when the public will learn the new information he has uncovered. He was not willing to give us a time table.

Lauren’s parents told WNYW they have received little cooperation from the persons of interest in the case.  The Spierer’s also commented on how reluctant some of the persons of interests were in taking a polygraph test.

Meanwhile, one of the persons of interest in the case, Corey Rossman, issued a statement through his attorney.

“I pray for them every night,” said Rossman. “I feel sorry for them.  I want to help them find Lauren.  (As far as a polygraph), I’m not going to get them to bait me into commenting.”

To the Person Who Took Lauren
Posted: 3 days 11 hours ago

During this season of being with family and friends, we are without Lauren. If by some miracle, YOU, the person who knows where Lauren is at this very second, are reading this, we once again beg YOU to tell us where she is. As you sit across the table from your loved ones, we are sitting across from an empty chair where Lauren should be, enjoying her loved ones. Let today be the day YOU do the right thing.

Words cannot express the sadness which fills our hearts in Lauren's absence. As the New Year approaches we pray for answers and for Lauren's safe return. Just one small miracle.... We hope that YOU, the person who took Lauren, will finally have the courage to end this nightmare for our family. We are here, waiting, for your answers.

This is the first I've seen about the rumors.  I hope this wasn't someone's idea of a cruel joke.

Sadly, it might be a cruel joke.  If the rumors were on Twitter, maybe the LE can track down the origin of the rumors.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Supporters continued pushing for information on the whereabouts of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer Tuesday, which is her 21st birthday.

Bloomington Police Department officials say they still get several tips every week, but none have turned up anything. Detectives remain in regular contact with Spierer’s parents.

Lawmakers Propose 'Lifeline' Amnesty Bill
Bill Would Provide Legal Immunity For Intoxicated Hoosiers In Emergencies
POSTED: 5:18 pm EST January 19, 2012
UPDATED: 8:23 pm EST January 19, 2012

INDIANAPOLIS -- Some Indiana lawmakers are proposing a new bill that could provide legal immunity to Hoosiers who call 911 on behalf of themselves or someone else who is intoxicated.

Senate Democrat Vi Simpson authored the "Lifeline Bill" and said she hopes it can make a difference.

"We hope to be able to save a few lives,” Simpson said. “This would give that person immunity for whatever law they broke at that point in time in order to access emergency services for the person who needs it.”

Administrators at Indiana University and Purdue University have considered similar policies on their campuses following the disappearance of IU student Lauren Spierer, who was last seen in June 2011 after a night of partying, RTV6's Chance Walser reported.

Lauren Spierer's parents clear persons of interest from daughter's disappearance
Lauren Spierer's parents said they have ruled out several persons of interest in the disappearance of their daughter.

The parents of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer announced Thursday that they have ruled out several persons of interest in the disappearance of their daughter. It was the first time Charlene and Robert Spierer have publicly eliminated potential suspects.
 ::snipping2::
Since June 3, when Lauren was last seen, police have focused on five Indiana University students, all deemed"persons of interest."

The Spierers wanted more help and hired New York private detectives, led by former NYPD cop Bo Dietl. The private investigators said they have spoken to four of the persons of interest, including Lauren's boyfriend, Jesse Wolff.

"Have I ruled out Jesse?" asked Robert Spierer. "I am comfortable saying he had nothing to do with it."

Spierer also doesn't think David Rohn, Lauren's close friend, had anything to do with her disappearance. He spoke to the private investigators, and so did Jay Rosenbaum, one of the last people to see Lauren.

The family's biggest questions remain about Corey Rossman. The private investigators interviewed his roommate Mike Beth, but the Spierers said Rossman isn't talking.
