I asked an attorney friend via email about KC using the computer...here is my response

It is a defendant right to allowed to assist in his/her defense. Due to technology used in the courtroom  there would be no reason why she, or any other defendant, could not use computers,  or any electronic apparatus that could be used to assist in the defendant's defense. I can assure you she is not surfing the Internet or chatting with friends. There are a minimum of 2 court bailiff's watching her at all times. I hope this eases your concerns.
