How many states passed the bill to urge citizens to boycott Aruba?

My wife had her pocket book stolen in Food City today! The Pepsi man  stocking shelves saw it happen chased the thief and kept in touch with the police via his cell phone until they caught up with the thief and arrested him! She was lucky thet she got everything back!

I offered him $100. reward after I got there and he declined! My wife contacted Pepsi and reported his remarkable deed! ii am still going to send hIm a gift for dinner at a local restaurant! that way he may take it!

SEE THERE ARE SOME GREAT HUMAN BEINGS LEFT IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!

I am so sorry that happened to Mrs. BOC!  I had my wallet stolen out of my purse which was sitting in the front of the cart many years ago when I lived in San Francisco.  Of course, I got nothing back.  Sucked big.

NEVER LEAVE YOUR PURSE IN THE BUGGY!  I always put my purse in front but I NEVER take my hand off the cart.  Snatching your wallet out of your purse is child's play.  Happens fast.  Not everybody is as lucky as Mrs. BOC!

I’ve only posted a few times on BFN but I’m what you might call a steady lurker.  I come here frequently to look for news and follow developments in the case…but as we all know there’s been little “news” for awhile now.  So I’ve kind of settled in to reading all the theories and speculation on the forum.  If you’ll permit an observation, in my humble opinion there are more theories floated here about what happened to Natalee than there are about how the dinosaurs disappeared from the Earth.  Frankly it’s all a bit confusing for this reader.  And way too complicated.

So in an attempt to seriously simplify things...  

1.  This young lady disappeared with three boys in a car and no one ever saw her again.

2.  The boys changed their stories many times, especially early in the investigation…which is enough to make most reasonable people distrust and suspect them.

3.  One of these boy’s father was politically connected, and very tied in with the legal system in Aruba.

4.  It seems fairly logical to believe that a father could try to protect his teenage son…even if that son did something very wrong.

5.  It seems equally logical that a person with friends in the criminal justice system might receive some kind of preferential treatment…heck, that could even happen here in the USA, right?

6.  Do I believe there’s a conspiracy…or some of the other more complicated theories I read about here every day?  Not really.  I think you have a few teenage boys who did something very wrong and a father with friends in all the right places trying to protect them.  Why would anyone put together some kind of complicated conspiracy against an ordinary young girl from Alabama?
 
7.  I do think it’s possible that some of the Aruban authorities tried to do a favor for a friend who had a child in trouble.  And I’ll bet they believed their pal Paul’s son was “A good kid” who “wouldn’t do anything bad to a young American girl”.  So perhaps they tried to “deflect” some of the attention away from Joran and the Kalpoes.  And if they did do a friend a favor, it just might have been too politically embarrassing to admit that after the fact…especially when it turned out that their friend’s child might not have been so innocent.
 
8.  The best place to start investigating this case is with the three boys who were known to see Natalee last.  But since they weren’t forthcoming in the first place with all their many statements about what happened, where they went and where they left her off,why on earth should anyone believe their most recent tales?

9.  Is it possible someone else is involved?  You bet.  And if so, isn't it likely that the boys who were seen with her last could name the person or persons who saw her after them?  Seems logical…but unless I'm forgetting something they haven’t, which kind of forces your focus back to the boys, or possibly even the father, or someone else who is a close friend…but almost any of those options would also seem to involve, implicate and most likely also incriminate the original three…J2K.

10.  Should the kids from Natalee’s school have stayed on the island when she didn’t show up for the plane in the morning?  I don’t think so.  First of all kids do miss planes when they’re away on their own.  It happens.  And honestly, I think most kids would be concerned that their parents would be upset if they missed that plane and ended up having an extended stay on the island…especially to give statements in a police station.  Furthermore, my guess would be that none of them really thought at that time that she missed the plane for anything nearly as serious or sinister as what this whole thing actually turned into.  

11.  Did the police bungle the investigation?  Oh yeah, you bet they did, early and often.  And I still can’t understand why it took them so long to take J2K into custody…except perhaps for the intervention of PVS...and perhaps some well meaning but misguided friends of the family.
 
12.  I think it’s reasonable to assume that people who do political favors for their friends seldom admit to doing that…even under far more innocuous circumstances than this tragedy turned out to be.  That would explain a number of small and big things...like why someone originally limited a search warrant of Chateau VDS...and why, more recently, another legal eagle had some harsh words in public for Paul about his settlement.

13.  Do these influentials realize now, after the fact, that they made a mistake by helping their friend?  I would think so but what are they going to do at this point?  Even if they now think that JVDS might have committed this crime, and maybe even with some help from his father after the fact.  Would they implicate themselves in some kind of cover up?  Admit to having used their power in the wrong way?  Say they screwed up?  Formed a conspiracy?  Seems unlikely that they'd admit any of those things, doesn’t it?

I’m posting tonight because it seems to me that the discussion on the forum might be deteriorating a bit…kind of in sync with the case against the boys who saw Natalee last.  As the case against Joran and his friends seems to be falling fall apart, there are so many complicated theories, egos, tempers and frustrations on display here…on a forum with a nice group of well meaning people who have seen friendlier days together.

Listen folks, I’m not an expert on this subject like some of the loyal posters here are.  I can’t tell you what all the initials stand for, or give you from memory the names of everyone who’s ever been hauled in as a suspect, or draw you a map of the island with all its landmarks.  

But I do care.  It’s way too easy to imagine this happening to one of my own daughters.  And it’s really infuriating that this case wasn’t properly investigated by the Aruban authorities in the first place.

I would urge you all to get back on the subject…maybe even go back to the beginning where the case was bungled in the first place.  Try to keep it simple…this is about a lovely ordinary teenage girl from Alabama and a few out-of-control boys.  In my opinion, if there was a cover up it probably wasn’t actually a conspiracy.  Just a misguided display of friendship by people who should have known better…or didn’t think it would come to all this.  Go back to the boys...

To all the moderators, especially Debbie.  I think you all have done a great job here so far.  Do me a favor and please don’t toss me off for this incredibly long post.  Perhaps I don’t know as much as the regulars…but this forum is supposed to be about opinions, right?  Given all the stress here tonight, I just thought it might be helpful to have another more simplistic point of view.

Carpe ... prior to the public revelation of the casino recording in March, 2006 ... Beth Twitty had already stated that Paulus Van der Sloot had met Natalee.  I suspect that Natalee's friends who were with her at the Black Jack table had revealed this information.

It should be remembered that official witness statements of both Joran and Paulus as well of the Greta/Joran transcript ... have Paulus leaving the POKER table half way through the tournament for home.  This occured prior to Joran going to the BLACK JACK table where the encounter with Natalee and her friends took place.

Lies are created to cover the truth.  Why are Joran and Paulus compelled to cover up a Paulus and Natalee connection?

Morning everyone.  I enjoyed that post from BFN.  Thanks Mere and Klaas.  I did however begin thinking about what that poster said.  I too had my doubts about a conspiracy on Aruba.  I even doubted it when I began my Shango quest.  It seems so impossible that an entire island could have been involved.  Silently I held my tongue when some would ridicule me and others about not keeping it simple.  I even tried to go back to the KISS theory myself. It was just more than I could comprehend that more than 3 guys in the paryting mood were involved.  That is until I heard Jossy Mansur.  Now, I am back to leaning toward a massive corruption and cover up that is out of control and only a handful are trying to fight the good fight for justice.

Is Carpe around?  I have another video question.  No it's not about shoes.
