Just dropped by to say about 25 minutes ago, we had a 5.9 earthquake here in VA!

The trembling shook everything in our house, including our house, for well over a minutes. Was unreal.

The news is saying that it was felt all the way up the east coast, including in Manhattan.

No injuries reported yet.

Very unsettling. Pun not intended.

 

So glad to hear your ok Brandi, watching CNN and it sounds as if it was a good shake.  Being a So. Ca. resident for nearly 60 years I know the feeling and your totally helpless when they hit.  Please be careful as the aftershocks can sometimes be worse than the 1st one.

They say it is the strongest earthquake to hit VA ...it tied a 5.9 earthquake recorded in 1897. Over 100 years ago.

Seemed to go on forever. At least a whole minute.

Local news saying no tsunami warning is being issued.

Was going to take my neighbor shopping, but we decided to wait a few hours to see if there are any aftershocks.

Reports of damage are coming in now, chimneys having fallen, that kind of thing.

...and to top it off, Hurricane Irene is making a bulls eye out of VA now.

What a day!

Please stay safe Brandi, I keep praying that Irene just goes out to sea and not hit land, now praying no aftershocks for you.

Library shelves shook in the area, and I felt nothing.  I am really dense, an earthquake and I was not aware of it, wow.

Have any of you monkeys seen the pictures from the Navy Seal Jon Tumlinson's from Iowa funeral. His dog Hawkeye is laid in front of the casket throughout the whole thing, only lifted his head up once. I watched it today and cried my eyes out.

It is heartbreaking. RIP Jon Tumlinson and thank you for the ultimate sacrifice.

Filled out Josef's paper work for boarding today. Asked the manager what happens if he gets sick and I can't get a call out at sea. She said that she IS his emergency contact, put her down and she is in charge of all Josef's care while I am away.  I am so lucky to have people and monkeys that love and care for my Josef.

Filled out Josef's paper work for boarding today. Asked the manager what happens if he gets sick and I can't get a call out at sea. She said that she IS his emergency contact, put her down and she is in charge of all Josef's care while I am away.  I am so lucky to have people and monkeys that love and care for my Josef.

Back from a great visit to my daughters.  Wonderful to see our grands.  We spent the day Saturday at their cottage they just purchased in Quebec.  about an hours drive from their home.  Nothing like seeing little boys catching toads and minnows.

  How wonderful, boys catching toads and minnows sounds like a blast.

I would love to go to Quebec, I hear it is beautiful. I have only been to Niagra Falls in early April. It was mostly frozen
