Ok, here's a crazy monkey question. When the jury is deliberating are they allowed to use plain old common sense when considering the evidence and deciding a persons innocence or guilt? Or all the laws set so specifically that common sense isn't even an option?? This seems like it is probably a stupid question, but it's what I'm wondering?
Sorry, but this is assuming that jurors would even want to use some common sense.

Or........ do they even have any common sense. So many people do not.

Will we have to endure any more of piggy-boy or was he excused forever?
tia

I am still looking for his credentials. There IS a reason no one was given a copy of his credentials and vitae I think.

Hey Turbo & Monkeys! Sorry I haven't been on in a lil while but I'm dealing with my 9 y/o that's been going through brain scans...so I post sporatically but I lurk as much as I can.

Turbo, you've told me you have an interest in forensic anthropology. I think I remember that, not sure, but you post with some knowledge on this subject whether it's a hobby or experience in your life. I learned some of this stuff in college. Could you please look into pig decomposition and educate everyone? I remember learning that pigs USED to be used to determine bug life on decomposing humans to try to determine how long a body has been deceased, how it died, etc...but then it became known through scientific means that if a pig & a human were left to decay in the same environmental conditions, the pic would decay faster bc of all the toxins in it. This is why most people cook pork for a very long time, or they boil pork before cooking bc it has larvae of sorts that naturally live in a pig. Since a pig does not perspire, the toxins it ingests stay within it's body. Pigs eat extrement, any kind of rubbish, they even drink their own urine...the list goes on. This is why an entomologist learning from a pig would not know as much as an entomologist learning from a cadavar that's worked on both to differentiate the life cycles & turnaround time. There is a difference in decay time between a pig & a cadavar when given the same situation. Huntington has to know this. He'd be a little spedtial if he didn't. I wonder if he's throwing a different spin bc he's anti dp. IMO, all the prosecution has to do is compare maggot infestation between a pig & a cadavar then say no more questions lol.

Not to gross anyone out...but...has anyone ever tried the cola trick on a slice of pork? Ummm, ewww. Put the uncooked pork in a container with a lid, pour cola over it. Open later & what do you see? Maggots, tiny little worms, etc. It's bc of the toxins. Left in the environment, it could be devoured in a very short time. Once the food supply is gone, the insects are nowhere to be found. With a decomposing human, there will always be a trace of an insect left...unless somebody intricately cleaned up the scene.

Snipped..........

You are EXACTLY RIGHT.............

The early stages of adipocere formation in both pig and human adipose tissue in aqueous environments have been investigated. The aims were to determine the short-term changes occurring to fat deposits during decomposition and to ascertain the suitability of pigs as models for human decomposition. Subcutaneous adipose tissue from both species after immersion in distilled water for up to six months was compared using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Changes associated with decomposition were observed, but no adipocere was formed during the initial month of decomposition for either tissue type. Early-stage adipocere formation in pig samples during later months was detected. The variable time courses for adipose tissue decomposition were attributed to differences in the distribution of total fatty acids between species. Variations in the amount of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium were also detected between species. The study shows that large differences in total fatty acid composition between species need to be considered when interpreting results from experimental decomposition studies using pigs as human body analogs.

I believe he said that he would be questioning for more than 30 but less than a few hours.  Either way, he lied.

I have a question.  The state experts think her decomp was at approx. 2.5 days when she was in the car, right?  I had always thought she drove around with Caylee in the trunk for at least a couple days but now I wonder if it was only for a brief period of time - long enough to dump her and not that she had been decaying IN the car for that length of time.

Boy, I have Casey Anthony trial burnout.  I'm tired of hearing about flies and garbage or is it trash?....I didn't watch any of it yesterday..I needed a break.  Today I'm watching and just can't believe this so called expert on now.  I think I heard him say blow flies were attracted to trash?  Really?  I've never seen blowfiles in trash..using regular old looking houseflies. Seriously, who cares?  If the flies were in the garbage bag or the trunck, the fact is that were there.  I'm just waiting for the verdict...I just want to know what the jury thinks now.  Good grief.
