A Langley family is frantic over the disappearance of their 16-year-old daughter and police are asking for the public’s help to find her.

Amanda (Mandy) Grace McPhee was last seen at her Brookswood-area home at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

McPhee has blond hair, blue eyes, is five feet three inches tall and weighs 160 lb. She may have been wearing a black rain coat, black track pants with a thin yellow stripe down the side, and black Converse running shoes.

This one is so close to my home. I hope she is found safe!

Amanda (Mandy) Grace McPhee hasn't been seen since she left her home in Langley's Brookswood area on Saturday night (June 11) around 11:30 p.m.

McPhee had been studying for her upcoming exams and does not suffer from any medical conditions.

“She was supposed to study with a friend on Sunday afternoon, but did not make the meeting and did not call,” said Marks.

“As far as we can determine, she has not been in contact with any of her friends.”

I have found her facebook and it is set to private.

Her mother saw the straight-A student go to bed at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night, said Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP. The girl took her pet dog into her bedroom for the night.

A short time after that, McPhee sent a text message to a friend arranging to meet to study the next day.

When McPhee’s mother woke up the next morning, the dog was out of her daughter’s room. She waited, thinking her daughter was just sleeping in, but when she went to wake her, the room was empty.

There was no sign of foul play in the home. Presumably, McPhee left sometime in the night or early morning.

McPhee does not have a history of running away. She was in the middle of high school exams, she did not argue with her parents before disappearing, and she had planned a trip to Mexico with a friend and two mothers for later this summer.

Her parents say she didn’t have a boyfriend, and none of her friends have seen or heard from her.

A Grade 11 student at Langley Christian High, Mandy, had arranged to meet a school friend on Sunday to study for end-of-term exams. She never arrived at her friend's home.

"She took a wallet with a small amount of money. No cell phone, no ID," her father said.

Marks said there is no evidence of a forced entry into the McPhee home, and police believe she walked out of the front door. Both police and her family say it is out of character for Mandy to disappear.

"Mandy has never run away before," Marks said.

She said police do not believe Mandy's disappearance is criminal in nature and, having gone through her computer, police found nothing to suggest that the teen is the victim of Internet luring.

Mike McPhee said it was unusual for his daughter to disappear, and asks anyone in the neighbourhood who would like to help search or put up posters to come by the house or call.

He believes his daughter, an avid hiker and snowboarder, had gone out for a walk when she disappeared. She was wearing her Gortex jacket, trackpants and Converse running shoes.

Mike McPhee pleaded for anyone who saw a young, blonde girl near 208th Street and 42nd Avenue early Sunday morning to phone the police.

If Amanda left by the front door, he said, someone would have seen her because the road is so busy. Also several truckers and RVs had been parked across the street and can only camp there if they have a permit.

An article from yesterday but still nothing really new to report:

The family of missing Langley teen Amanda McPhee is organizing its own search parties and asking for community volunteers to help after police called off their official search.

I just hope that the RCMP isn't just classifying this as a runaway teen and are looking at other angles. We've seen that happen before and precious time was lost.

Praying that Amanda is found today!

METRO VANCOUVER - Langley RCMP have called off their search for missing 16-year-old Amanda "Mandy" Grace McPhee.

Search and rescue crews packed up at midnight Tuesday, and will not continue to search parks and areas surrounding McPhee's Langley home. The teenager was last seen in her bedroom at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A search of her social networking accounts did not turn up anything suspicious, said Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP. There is no evidence to indicate McPhee was lured out of her home or kidnapped.

However, police have received a number of tips through social media and phone calls.

There was no evidence to indicate foul play in the home. McPhee may have left sometime in the night or early morning, apparently walking out of the house without her cell phone or ID, and with not much money.

"This disappearance is very out of character for her - Mandy has never run away from home before," Marks said in a statement released Monday.

The straight-A student was in the middle of final exams at Langley Christian School, and had planned a trip to Mexico for later this summer. She did not argue with her parents before disappearing.

Even if Amanda stepped out of the house willingly and on her own accord to meet someone she may have run into problems and can't or isn't able to come home.  What a nightmare for her parents

MuffyBee, I ran into someone who lives near her and I guess Amanda liked to run for exercise.  I fear something happened but I do so wish she did run away and is ok!

Here is a new article:

The Integrated Homicide Investigative Unit is becoming involved in the search for missing Langley teen Amanda McPhee.

Sgt. Peter Thiessen will give an update on the investigation later this afternoon.

McPhee's aunt, Bev, said police have told the family they are doubling the numbers of officers in the search but still have no leads.

Meanwhile, the family is overwhelmed with the support of the community, which has rallied to help search the neighbourhood for the missing girl after search and rescue called off the search at midnight Tuesday.

The 16-year-old Langley Christian School student vanished sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning, apparently walking out of the house without her cellphone, without ID, and with just a little money.

There is supposed to be a press conference today at 4:00....which is in around 20 minutes.

I only live a 5 minute drive away from her house and I travel the street she lives on daily.  So close to home!

The family of missing Amanda McPhee is asking for public help as they search parks and woods.Amanda “Mandy” McPhee has been missing almost a week, but her large extended family remains hopeful, buoyed by the support of the entire community.

On Saturday and Sunday morning, family members will be in Campbell Valley Regional Park, where they hope to be joined by volunteers for a two-day search of the entire area.

“We do need people coming out,” said Bev McPhee, Mandy’s aunt.

Volunteers can gather at the park’s entrance in the 20060 block of 16th Avenue, just east of 200th Street, at the park’s north entrance. The search starts at 9 a.m. both days.

Amanda "Mandy" has been found SAFE!!
I'm moving this on over to "Missing Found Safe"

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Missing+teen+found+after+week/4969221/story.html
A Langley family is rejoicing as their 16-year-old daughter Amanda (Mandy) McPhee has made it home after a week camping on Mount Seymour.

McPhee went missing last Saturday night and search efforts were escalating when RCMP received a tip and picked her up at a Langley city bus loop Friday at 5: 15 p.m.

"It's unbelievable what she did. It was obviously terrible in many ways, but I'm just so glad she came back I'm not even concerned about that stuff," her father Mike McPhee said Friday evening over the phone.

Mandy did not discuss her weeklong absence with anyone -including her family -Friday evening, but her father said she is an avid fan of the outdoors and he was not surprised she was able to survive almost a week in the wilderness unscathed while on a "walkabout."

"We've camped a lot, that's why we were up at Alouette Lake looking for her," her father said. "I never thought Mount Seymour."

Mike McPhee said she had enough money to get there and back on public transportation.

Her aunt, Vicki Maloney, told the Langley Advance that her niece has been found and the family is now scrambling to find out more.

“She’s been found and she’s safe,” Maloney said.

More details will be provided as they are available.

“Today at approximately 5:15 p.m. Amanda McPhee was located on a City bus at the Langley City bus loop,” said RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen. “A passenger on the bus recognized Amanda and contacted Langley RCMP.”

Can't believe she was away camping but something must have been troubling her to do what she did.

So glad one missing child has been found!
