I sure hope the US Media doesn't do anything on Joran's book. He doesn't deserve any publicity, negative or positive. Let NL keep their stink bug in Netherlands where he can spread his rot gut there.

I wonder how much Joran's publisher paid NL news media to publish in their papers or place Joran on an interview for his book cost them. I'm sure no one was racing to get him in their headlines. He's yesterday news in my book. Now when Aruba and the Dutch decide to re-arrest Joran and have a trial and keep that smuck behind bars, then it might be headline news for me.

Just went back to read Wardlaw's statement. A teacher (not the headmaster). He says Joran was there.

May 30th 2005, I can state the following. I cannot precisely recollect
whether Joran went to school that day. It is possible that he did not
go to school that day.

To your question how it then is possible that I had not seen Joran
get onto the bus, I can state the following. Of course I see the children
get onto the bus and that also is true for Joran. But unlike Valentijn and
Sebastian who went with the bus everyday Joran didn't go with the bus
once or twice during that period. But I do not remember exactly which
days he did not go with the bus. It could be that it was that Monday.
Most likely I informed the bus driver that Joran would not be going with
the bus. A clue to the fact that Joran did not go to school that Monday
could be that on Tuesday I insisted that he went to school that day.

Hummm. Maybe I'll start one. There also was talk about the Headmaster who said something about a girl, tourist, hitting her head? Or drowning? But we don't have a statement from anyone else from the school, other than Wardlaw.

Just thought a thread would be a way to collect the rumors, and what the statements say, about school on Monday.

Recent conversation about the VDS maid - who shares the same last name with the bank teller? - reminds me of another conflict. Joran said in one of his statements that the maid was there when he got home from school. But the maid's statement says she works from 8-Noon on Mondays.

And we think the maid is now deceased? Or the bank teller is deceased?

Also - someone mentioned a page or two ago, that Aruba media didn't announce the disappearance until Tuesday. I may be suffering from selective amnesia these days, but I thought it was actually in some print form, and also on radio/tv, Monday afternoon. IIRC, either Native Lingo or Arubagirl made that statement early on.

klaas - Okay, I'll check my notes at home and see if I can figure out why I think it was "in the news" on Monday.

MEANWHILE - Wardlaw's P-V indicates that it was signed on June 31. There is no June 31. I tried looking at the Dutch version but can't make it out. I'm sure this is just a typo, but wonder whose? If it's on our end, you might want to fix it.

What is so implausible and unbelievable about this is that certainly Paulus, Joran, the schoolmaster, and others would have been asked about whether he was at school in statements well before June 23rd. This shouldn't even be left up to conjecture, except for the fact that all of Joran's and Paulus' early statements (or pages from them) are missing.
