In a surprising new development, CNN is reporting the parents of Casey Anthony say they do not believe she is innocent.

It is a stark contrast from what the Anthony's said in the early days of this case when Casey's parents told the media over and over that their daughter had nothing to do with Caylee's death.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- George and Cindy Anthony do not believe their daughter Casey is innocent, their lawyer told CNN on Wednesday night.

The Anthonys' lawyer, Mark Lippman, told CNN that his clients do not want their daughter to receive the death penalty for the killing.

Casey, 25, is on trial for murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Both George and Cindy have taken the stand multiple times already in Anthony's trial. It is unclear whether the remarks could affect testimony that is scheduled to continue in Anthony's capital murder trial Thursday.

"They love her, they support her and they do not want her to get the death penalty and they will do all they can to avoid her getting the death penalty in this case," Lippman said.

The parents of Casey Anthony do not believe she is innocent, their lawyer told CNN.

George and Cindy Anthony do not, however, want their daughter to receive the death penalty for the killing, said lawyer Mark Lippman.

Casey Anthony, 25, is charged with seven counts in her daughter's death, including first-degree murder. If convicted, she could face the death penalty.

Lippman's bombshell statement to CNN's Gary Tuchman was discussed on "AC 360" Wednesday night. It is unclear how the remarks would affect testimony that is scheduled to continue in Anthony's capital murder trial Thursday.

"But this is important and they wanted me to stress this," said Tuchman. "They love her, they support her and they do not want her to get the death penalty and they will do all they can to avoid her getting the death penalty in this case."

In regards to his bad checks writing, shame on him. His home situation that his house is upside down I can't blame him for. That is happening all over the country. That is not his fault. Goodness knows I can't tolerate the man, but the housing situation is not his doings.

On Wednesday night, the attorney representing George and Cindy Anthony told a CNN reporter his clients do not think Casey is innocent. Attorney Mark Lippman went on to say George and Cindy don't want to see Casey put to death.

The CNN reporter talked about the conversation he had with Lippman. “I asked him a very specific question, ‘Do your clients think that she is "not guilty"?’ he said no, they do not think that. He said they want to see justice done, then he added to me, they do not think she is innocent," said Gary Tuchman.

That conversation happened off camera, but it's the first time that we've heard that the Anthony’s have turned on their daughter in terms of wanting to see her acquitted and now Casey's attorney appears to be having a hard time disputing the state's evidence.

I think he was to secure life insurance for his daughter per a divorce/support agreement.  It was one of the reasons he was denied admittance to the bar for so long.
