Casey Anthony Trial Update: Defense says it will rest its case Thursday

CBS/WKMG/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - Casey Anthony's defense team says it plans to rest its case Thursday, and the judge said that could pave the  way for closing arguments Saturday in the first-degree murder trial of the Orlando mother, according to CBS affiliate WKMG.
The defense proceeded Wednesday with a strategy of painting a portrait of the Anthony's as a dysfunctional family, calling Casey Anthony's parents to the stand for a third time during their daughter's capital murder trial for the death of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony - but it may ultimately backfire on them.

I think George is the most at risk to follow through with suicide. I hope he clings to G_d and his little angel Caylee. I, honestly feel badly for him.

I felt badly for Kronk. Seems like he told his son over the phone that he was going to be on TV and all that because he had a bad relationship from the divorce and was trying to improve his worth to his son.
Just seemed like another family being destroyed and it's sad.

Did I hear Kronk correctly when he said the reason he said that was because his son hadn't seen him since he was 8...meaning his son could see what he looked like?  It really didn't sound like he was boasting ..I might have heard wrong.

I gathered that they had a nasty divorce and maybe she wouldn't allow him to see his son and I surmised that
because the son testified today that he reached out to his dad and his mother didn't know he was calling his dad. Apparently, there were a lot of phone calls to each other. Sometimes it just a gut feeling with me, I might be totally wrong as I have only what I'm seeing now to judge.  I thought Kronk was feeding his ego to look good to his son. I might be wrong. But.......heck I might be right LOL

But what about REBUTTAL?  I have been looking forward to that all along.

Does the Defense get to do a  REBUTTAL too?

Defense goes after state.
Then state gets a second bit of the apple..

No, if anything the defense would be granted what is called a surrebuttal which would only go towards what the State presents in rebuttal but it doesnt sound like they are.   The State in their rebuttal can only bring on what would refute things brought up in the defense's case-in-chief....i.e. Cindy's ex-employers, the computer searches.

I thought Bill Shaeffer said what I stated. 
I'm sure he'll restate it when we get to the end of trial.
When we'll all be waiting for the verdict.
I could of heard wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

George Breaks Down During Talk Of Caylee's Remains

I hope Casey takes the stand as it will then be more on her.  As it is, George knows he is the one sending her down.  That's his child.  I am afraid for George harming himself when this is all over.  And after all that, he has lost the person I do believe he loved more than anybody in the world.  Very sad for him.

 I do not believe at all nor does any reasonable normal soul out there that George helped Casey AT ALL or molested her.
at this point I think she lied about LEE for attention!

I want to know why Byass asked Cindy if she "remembered" Lee groping Casey ... and he never asked her if she remembered any sexual allegations Casey made against George?  That says it all.

I just think George is feeding on other's compassion... and doesn't deserve it. He is a user.

Casey's ship is sure going down hard, though. This is a good thing.

Judge Belvin Perry told prosecutors to have witnesses ready for rebuttal, and to have closing arguments prepared for Saturday at the earliest.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Casey Anthony jury could be deliberating her fate over the holiday weekend.

Casey Anthony's defense team said Wednesday evening it will rest on Thursday.

Judge Belvin Perry said closing arguments could be held Saturday, and it is up to the jury if they would want to hear closing arguments on Sunday or on Independence Day on Monday.

The defense has claimed that George Anthony found Caylee dead in the family swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and helped try to cover up the toddler's death.

During cross-examination, prosecutor Jeff Ashton asked George Anthony about his suicide note. George Anthony said he wanted to be with Caylee, and he would be dead had law enforcement not intervened.

George Anthony began to cry again as he reviewed his suicide note on the stand.

"My emotional state, even through today, is very hard to accept that I don't have a granddaughter anymore, but for that particular day, it just felt like the right time to go and be with Caylee," George Anthony said.

George Anthony said that in his suicide note, he acknowledged questions he had about what had happened to Caylee.

"There was numerous pages I wrote ... I probably repeated myself numerous times. I had to express what I was feeling," George Anthony said.

Ashton said he plans to introduce the suicide note during the rebuttal phase of the trial. The note ordinarily would not be allowed, but Judge Belvin Perry said Baez opened the door for the note to be introduced by bringing up the suicide attempt.
