G'bye, All.  G'bye, Third.  Hope to see you & Spooky on later tonight.  Going to take a much required nap before I get hungry and eat myself into another round of "stomach."  This donut talk is getting to me.

I am staying home for the weekend because the fireworks scare my dogs so will comfort them as best I can.   Very Happy They are not much on that kind of celebration.  But I may bring my mom over for a visit, always an adventure.  And plan to fix ribs soaked in vodka on the smoker, slaw, baked beans, etc.  Will be nice.

I am worried about my kids in the D.C. area.  Anyone from up that way and with any inside information on the Fairfax-Arlington, VA flood conditions?   Sad

.

I wish I could be home with my cats ~ but I have to work that night...  Especially Bink...  He get scared when it rains...  or hears a truck go by...  never mind thunder and lightening ~ I feel so bad for him on the 4th of July ~ thank God there aren't many fireworks here...  Thankfully a lot of people just watch the displays that are put on by the different casinos...  last years was beautiful...

I hate it when my cats are scared because there is nothing I can really do to make them feel better until what ever is scaring them goes away. Sad

You have your answer - SUNNY NEEDS YOUR TIARA !!!  Very Happy So Sunny wears it now !!!!!!!!!

As you recall, you and Klaas put that tiara on me without my consent, I may be an egghead but I'm a happy egghead  Very Happy I yam what I yam!!  Laughing

crazymom-

Keep the faith, try to take a mini vacation and know that jacks-of-all-trades like you are always in demand!

Ono-

Good to see you and Katz too. I have a few pieces from King's Antiques I just adore..... did ever hear of an artist Arthur Weeks? My mother's gallery represented him for many years, so miss his work now post his death.

Must run again, time for medications and also those kittens need some screen porch time. I think I just saw Wiggles give Sophie the people's elbow so they need to take that rowdy girl stuff outside!

Take care all !!

Hey Monkeys.  I posted in a couple of days but wanted to say "hi".  I don't know how much I will be around anymore.  My boss that can't bring in any business laid me off yesterday morning.  I guess it is bad when you lay off your only office, human resources, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, marketing and general gofer person.  He thinks he can do it all.  Say a prayer for me.  Something good is going to happen to me, I just know it!!!  Maybe this is the motivation kick I needed.

Hi ~ we've been there before ~ high-tech layoffs affecting my husband ~ I CAN tell you that the good news will occur when you least expect it!  And, it will happen . . . I'll say a prayer for you and all other monkeys, as I always do . . . keep the faith!

Could it be that there is a cable line attached to something from beachside out into the water and attached to something out in the water that Joran hung onto while walking/swimming out?

Ono - that was my first thought when a cable was mentioned.  I just wish we knew what kind of cable they are talking about.  A long cable, a big cable, just a piece of cable?   It would be very possible if this cable is "permanent" that Joran did use it to help get out and back in - as a guide.

Also the pipe they are talking about.... where did it come from?  was it found during a search?  does anyone know?

Crazymom - Go for it!

Tyler - no cooking tonight taking the young marine out for wings.

Ono

There is a Crispy Creme on my way to work.  They have taught the donughts to scream my name and taunt me.  I ignore their calls and drive by.

Lord knows I'm zoftig (or is it Rubenesque) enough from my own cooking.

Crazymom - I am so sorry to hear about your job.  I will keep you in my prayers - I too am sure something good will come of this. The uncertainty of being laid off is scary - Been there, done that, but for me, my situation improved 100%.  (((((hugs)))))

Me too!  There's always something better around the corner.  You'll see.

Well, for a long time I felt I gave my best years to a company and really got slapped in the face by the dump after 12 years.  It was an ESOP and the stocks had split off several times over those years, which had turned into a nice little nest egg.  Then the corporation began to have financial problems due to some really bad calls made by management.  It was sold to this group of speculators who took the company public and offered each employee X number of dollars per share, plus so many shares in the new company.  Well, those people took the place a little closer to ruin and I got my walking papers one day.  I then followed the stock until it dropped off the stock exchange and the company went belly up.

We shareholders wound up getting 7 cents on the dollar, which didn’t amount to a hill of beans.  My attitude started to change after that ordeal and I found refuge away from the rat race that has a few more assurances regarding benefits and 100% less stress.

Chit happens, but we just have to move on…..

everything happens for a reason:
True story, condensed version:

Owner of a restaurant in World Trade Center got scared after the first bombing attempt in 93.

Decided to move his restaurant out of the the city and over to Jersey.

His employees unhappy but a tight group so they all followed.

Jump ahead to 9-11.

First plane hits the towers on the exact floor that restaurant used to be on.

All of the people in that area killed.

When owner of restaurant found out what happened , he realized he saved his employees lifes.  When asked by friends how he felt after this he of course was grateful but not surprised.  "after the first attempt, I knew it would just be a matter of time before someone tried again" was all he replied.

Sometimes things happen for a reason even though at the time they seem senseless....

It's happened in my life and all of our lives ...

I find this a comfort........

Yeah, there is nothing that smells better, so alluring.  I want to stop in and have a whole plate full.  One day I just might do that, all covered with chocolate.

Still warm from the oven. . . . . . lemon jelly filled with coffee.  Have you bouncing off the walls in no time, a real energy jolt!   Smile

Well, SUNNY, I don't know but I think the metal pipe and cable are the same thing.  We just thought it was a pipe but turns out to be cable.

So we have metal cable, frozen condom and article belonging to Natalee
that Beth should recognize should it EVER be shown to her??

O/T Unless You Believe Natalee Taken By Sex Slave Industry:

World Cup Sex Industry Uncovered — Part III

Wednesday, June 28, 2006

by Father Jonathan Morris for FOX Fan Central

Editor's note: Tune in to FOX News Live at 11:45 a.m. ET for Father Jonathan's live report on human trafficking at the World Cup.

In the last two days I’ve interviewed three girls from similar backgrounds that I want to tell you about. Each has gone her separate way.

Shasha is Russian and looks the part. She moves quickly, smiles quickly (although rarely), works hard, and gets things done. Her hotel manager surely loves her.

For two days she watched my colleagues and me work, but never said a thing. Last night she broke the silence. “Why do you wear that around your neck?" she asked.

“I’m a priest," I said. “It’s called a clerical collar and it signifies my dedication to God."

“And the television camera?” she retorted.

There was no camera in sight. She must have seen Barnaby lugging the equipment around the reception area earlier.

“Well, we are here in Germany to do a story for American television. It is about human trafficking and legal prostitution in relation to the World Cup."

She gave a quick, forced smile, and with that she left.

Her abrupt departure was revealing. I called her back and asked if we could talk for a moment. She refused politely and signaled toward the kitchen. She said she was very busy. And I’m sure she was.

As I left the restaurant she strolled by again.

“Okay, I’ll talk with you." That’s all she said.

A half an hour later she was weeping. “I made a big mistake. I will be a shame for my children.”

She went on to tell me the harrowing story of her departure from Russia. She was poor, but her parents were good and ordinary folk. In a moment of youthful rebellion and a healthy desire for self-improvement, she agreed to go with a group of her friends to work in Germany. They were told they would be dancers. In the back of her mind, Shasha knew it might not be pretty. It wasn’t.

When she arrived in Munich she was placed in an apartment with seven other girls. Her passport was taken. She danced, but she was only paid for her extra work. It was prostitution. She recalled how she cried every day for two years, and still cries. “I wanted to go home, but I couldn’t. Or maybe I could, but I didn’t know how. I was afraid, above all, for my parents.”

She wouldn’t say more. Shasha was eventually released to return to Russia, after pleading with her employers to allow her to visit her sick parents. A month later she was back in Germany, but this time on her own and determined to make an honest living.

“It’s very hard…very, very hard. Here I work too much, but I don’t cry." Shasha knows her past will never leave her mind. She has not decided if she will marry or have children.

“Coco” was from the former Yugoslavia. My conversation with her was much different, and it wasn’t because the camera was on. Mr. Kruneich, the manager of the brothel and her boss, stood by her side. She answered my questions with one or two words and she knew precisely what to say — and what not to say.

Here’s how we began:

“You work here. Do you like it?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Are you forced to be here?” I continued.

“No, I want to be here.”

I tried another angle. “Do you have sisters?”

“Yes, I have two."

"And are they younger than you?”

She looked down. “Yes, they are."

“Do you want them to work here with you when they get older?”

“No, I don’t.”

She looked at her boss. He looked at me. End of interview. There was no reason to go on.

Tomorrow, I’ll tell you about the third girl I met, who tells a very different story. It is a happy one.

I’ll also report on my conversation with the spokesman for Germany’s Department of Family Life, which, surprisingly, is the government ministry that oversees the legalized prostitution industry. It is an important piece of the story.

God bless, Father Jonathan
