Hi Monkeys. We just got back in from a work-related 1950s party (I wore a pink poodle skirt - tee hee). It's almost midnight here, and hubby won't let me stay up long enough to read all the pages I need to get caught up on. He's easing toward his toothbrush already.

Could someone please give me brief highlights of any developments this evening?

From the Murder & Crime thread, page 3 - Arm bone found on coastline of Venezuela. There is a picture. This is one of klaas' crowning achievements.

Bone 08/10/2005 (est.)
Bone washes up on coast of Venezuela; found by dog walking with owner. Local (Venezuela) newspaper says it was a human femur (arm bone) with hand/fingers. A later report from Aruba says it was part of a mannequin; in D. Holloway’s book, he says he was told it was a “Halloween prop.”
Notes:
This finding occurred during the turbulent storm season of 2005.
Disastrous plane crash in Venezuela shortly after this finding.

Two really important things about this bone (altlhough apparently dismissed by all) -

That Hurricane season was THE big one and no "normal" tides and currents could be counted on.

Despite what Dave says, the bone looked quite human ...

But Rob, I don't think you have its location correctly positioned. IIRC, it was just inside that bay-looking area just inside Venez.

Indy, I think she was assaulted and killed at the VDSloot's home.  Her body was kept there for a while until they figured out how to get rid of her.  Was Joran meeting someone that night to arrange a boat trip and drop?  The drug boats go back and forth to Argentina/Columbia on a regular basis.  The ATM money transactions--were they to pay for a boat trip?

I strongly feel she lost her life at the VanDerSloot home. I think the 3 pervs took her there directly from CnCs to film the rape of an innocent American tourist girl.  Natalee died from the drug concoction given her at CnCs.
That's where the panic set in and that's why there are so many different versions of what happened.

msmarple, I just did those by the best recollection I have... if you have the exact coordinates, I will plug those in and make it exact. I'll be happy to do it.

Venezuela is a big country and has alotta coastline.

I keep going back to Dompig.  Dompig--caught in the middle between the truth and what he saw and the authorities in charge at the time.  Could Dompig be the Crown Witness?  He was relieved of his job after making so many puzzling and contradictory statements.  At times, he seemed to tell the truth and want to solve the case.  Other times, his statements were baffling when taken in context, but perhaps he was under orders to say particular things at specific times.  If he was offered protection, would Gerold Dompig spill his guts?  A witness needs to be credible, reliable, and believable.  Is he?

MsMarple, I have a friend that is a Doctor of Exercise Physiology and I have a picture of the arm bones, I will ask him what he thinks. He is a Doctor / Professor at a major University and he'll know right away what it is. I think it is either a human arm or the arm of something like a Gibbon.

I always thougth Dompig knew what was up - at first he tried to play the serious investigator looking for serious answers.
Then he saw the writing on the wall and tried to spin what he knew into something palatable that would satisfy everyone.
Finally out of frustration, he retired --- but Dompig holds some answers, he knows what went down that nite.
