Here is what the jurors do.

1.  They get the case, read instructions then they elect a Foreman
2.  Once they start deliberating they try to put the puzzle pieces together to see if they fit the charges.
3.  If everyone doesn't agree they have to work on GETTING everyone to agree.  The problem with that is it takes time.  Those in a hurry are more likely to change their mind to get out of there.

I can understand them not finding her guilty of murder in the first degree but AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE was a slam dunk, IMO

Agreed about how they did not find her guilty on AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE. (Same for my husband.)

About 1-3 ... that is what they are supposed to do.

Very true Brandi - that is what they are supposed to do

A text my husband (next to me in our home office) sent me:

  AGGRAVATED MANSLAUGHTER OF A CHILD
  § 782.07, Fla. Stat.
To prove the crime of Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child, the State must prove the following
two elements beyond a reasonable doubt:
  1. Caylee Marie Anthony is dead.
  2. Casey Marie Anthony’s act(s) caused the death of Caylee Marie Anthony.
  or
The death of Caylee Marie Anthony was caused by the culpable negligence of Casey
  Marie Anthony.

For the jury to reach a verdict of Not Guilty on this count alone is a complete miscarriage of justice! (Mother was home with child, child drowned, she's negligent!)

The state didn't need to prove anything on this count. Baez admitted it! His "accident that snowballed out of control" theory is an admission of this very charge, which he made both in his opening statements as well as his closing arguments.

The culpable negligence in this case is her complete indifference to to the whereabouts of the child (in a location that includes a pool, therefore where harm can come to the child.)

This totally ignores anything and everything the State was trying to prove and relies solely on what the DEFENSE ADMITTED THROUGHOUT THE CASE.

Every member of that jury should feel ashamed! Such a charge does not carry the Death Penalty, so it's not like they'd have more work to do.

So...what is the longest time that JP can give to Casey? Do we have any hope that she will remain in jail for a few more years?  I hope that no one buys Casey's book or movies or anything that will give Casey money...I don't have any desire to listen to her at all on any tv shows...I hope that she gets the crap beat out of her when she gets out of jail.  Or while she is in jail

I believe 4 years but likely she will go free on Thursday or Friday with time served.  She's been in jail nearly 3 years.

I agree klaas... I am at a loss ... fwiw... i did not much like the jury from the beginning, but I at least thought they would do their job...

CBS is doing a special 48Hours called Judgement Day, but it has Linda Baden.
Well, l won't be watching it.  I still have not turned tv on tonight.  I may not turn it on the rest of the week.  I won't watch anything that has to do with that family.  I guess I have moved from disbelief to anger now. I just keep reading here and praying.  I still just can't understand how this happened.  How could the jury ignore the fact that she did not report caylee missing for so long.  That in itself pointed to her guilt.

Yesterday, I read something about Jose bringing in a 'gift' for jurors but the deputies intercepting it.  I don't know where I read it, twitter, fb, media blog, but I remember thinking, WOW, he knows better.  Did anyone else read about it?
I read that too.. probably envelopes with cash
It was on Blink's blog.

Jose was spotted given jurors a parting gift over lunch, which was intercepted by deputies.
Do you think she meant it as a joke?  I don't get it.

All twelve members of the jury did not consider not reporting a two year old child missing for 31 days as a form of chld abuse/neglect.  GMAB!

Casey was deemed not guilty of all charges execpt lying!  This was the exact defence that was being furthered in Baez/Mason's closing arguments.

Something is hinky.  The prosecutions closing arguments ... rebuttal to the defence was not a consideration.

Is Judge Perry allowed to instruct the jury at any time throughout the trial outside of the courtroom setting?

Sorry Caylee, the jury took your day away.

« Reply #3971 on: July 05, 2011, 10:21:33 PM »

I have just decided I do not care any more.

They are all made for each other.

I live way too far away to care.

Caylee cannot be hurt any more.  She is in heaven.  She is happy.  She suffered, but sometimes suffering is necessary in the grand scheme of things.

This may sound horrible now, but had she lived, she may have turned into Casey or Cindy.

My life will go on.

My kids are beautiful.

My hubby is a wonderful man who would never do what George did if his daughter killed his grandbaby in the beginning.

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.

The A's do not have Caylee to love them any more.  The irony is rich indeed.  Tough noogies.

Casey has lost everything.  All her friends. Everybody hates her.  Cept her lawyer family and her covering up family.

Caylee got Justice.  She got away.

I wrote this from sweet Caylee's perspective....

If Caylee could talk.....

Why did you leave me alone in the trunk?
While you partied and smoked and got horribly drunk?

Why did you kill me and stuff me in bags?
And duct tape my mouth while I coughed and I gagged?

Why did you lie and blame everyone?
You know that you did it so you could have fun.

Why did you throw me away like i'm trash?
You took me away.. I was gone in a flash.

I loved you and trusted you more every day..
Just so you  could drug me and throw me away.

This jury cant see through your lies and deceit..
But I have told God all that YOU did to me...

He told me He knew and that justice will come..
And I will be watching when you come undone.

God gave you a gift and you tossed it away...
You thought that at two, I just got in the way.

You took me away because I got attention..
People loved me a lot and you never were mentioned.

How much are you loved and doted on now?
PLease tell me, mommy, I want to know how.

How could you do this to your little girl?
I no longer am yours... I belong to the world.

I'm still loved the most and It's plain to see...
You are loved by no one....especially me...

This is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Anyone else think she'll change her name and get a make over? What's going to happen when she wants to register a phone, or get a new license, buy ANYTHING with credit? She'll probably change her name

Lizzie Borden?

holy sh!t! the wikipedia pic of Lizzie Borden looks a lot like Casey Anthony, methinks.

Thinks the state of florida should arrest George Anthony for the murder -since the duct tape is linked to him---and at trial they can call casey to the stand and we ALL know that she will lie on the stand-(that should be worth a few years for her) ---and Cindy should be arrested tomorrow. jmo--- an angelic monkey

Yes, if they can put the screws to "bird boy" - who had a robust savings plan of $12... I wonder what interest he's pulling on that cheese?

They can certainly put that lying sack of gas Cindy Anthony in jail. I would even stick it to her for wearing a pair of coolots to court yesterday.

With the manly legs she's got... man, give me a break.

Hey its worth a shot!! You could at least send the fashion police!! --:)  As for George--just lock his lyin arse up for me while you're at it-...they are just as bad as their "daughter" Sad imo
