Happy Forth of July - America's day of independence.  The really first day that whorseface will be dependent on the State of Florida. The irony is rich.

I have a question.  Probably silly but just wondering.  If the jury, upon naming a foreperson, immediately took a vote and it was unanimously guilty, would that be it or is there a protocol they must follow?  TIA

no protocol that I am aware of.....I would have loved for that to happen!

Does the youtube video of Linda's closing show Casey's responses?  How do I get to see that?  WFTV only shows the attorneys for the most part.

I have screen shots here

lkb on hln crying that prosecution just paints a nasty picture so the jury will hate kc because they had nothing else to get her with.

Someone please gag that woman!
hahahaha
Well, who made that story to begin with.....that's kc's life 2008.
Gag her, no just send her to the nut house.
Sorry, all the nonsensical LKB comments will not change the fact that the Defense mess up on day 1 of their opening statements making promises to the jury that they never kept.

It will also not change the actions of Casey Anthony after the death of Caylee Anthony.

IMO, I think the Defenses entire method of defending Casey was ridiculous. There is no way that she is going to walk away without some type of charge of being guilty. There should have been a plea deal long ago by the Defense.

Short of that ... the Defense should have tried this case to mitigate their clients damages. If they wanted to go after the accidental drowning, they should have then said that Casey pannicked and tried to hide her daughters body. The Defense could have had Casey take responsibility and then totally panicked and tried to make it appear that nothing happened. Would Casey have been found guilty of a crime, Yes. Would it have been 1st degree murder ... no.

The problem with the defenses argument is they tried a case under the premise of an accidental drowning but did so in a manner like a murder. They lost everything, including sanity when they tried to pin this on George and Roy kronk. It just isn't believable.

In the end, their defense will backfire because it just does not pass the logic test.

If they find her guilty of 1st degree murder.  Say they find her guilty of 2nd degree or manslaughter, no penalty phase.  Judge would sentence her to whatever the law allows, not DP though.

This is from the scott peterson case from the link Islandmonkey posted

from the jurors

NICE: No emotion, no anything. That spoke a thousand words. That was loud and clear. Today, the giggles at the table, loud and clear. I heard enough from him.

CARDOSI: I did see emotions in him, most of which were anger.
CARDOSI: His wife and his child, and it didn't seem to faze him, and while it was going on they're looking for his wife and his child, he's romancing a girlfriend. That's -- that doesn't make sense to me at all.

Sounds familiar

Too many unkept promises

He promised to show that Conner Peterson, the couple's son to be, was born alive — the implication being that Laci Peterson was kidnapped and gave birth weeks after she was last seen around Christmas Eve, 2002. But a crucial medical witness failed to deliver the promised knockout.

"I'm sure he regrets all the things he said he was going to prove and couldn't," said attorney Steve Cron, who has represented comedian Paula Poundstone and other celebrities. He called Geragos a "fine lawyer," but added "he stuck his neck out, and in a high-publicity case everything you do is scrutinized."

Still, jurors, who felt enough of a connection to call Geragos "Mr. G," gave him high marks.

"I respect Mr. G. I think he's a great lawyer," said juror Richelle Nice.

How would they know to dress up if they have not talked about it?

good question...

i imagine if i were on the jury and my mind was already leaning that way, i would think maybe others would be too and it may not take long and just in case, I'd like to look my best. If they've already decided in what order when they'll give interviews to the media as they have, i know my mind would immediately going to "hmm, what to wear?" and be ready just in case.

then again, they could have dressed up mainly because it's the last day of appearing in the court room for this trial.

That would be my theory, that individually they already knew how they were going to vote and so they dressed better. WRT dressing better since it was the last day in court, I could see that as a possibility but I think the other explanation makes more sense to me considering many may be interviewed. Just my opinion.
But in order for them to be interviewed(if they get a verdict today)they would have to find her not guilty of anything. After they do find her guilty of enough to give her LWOP,they will still be held for the penalty phase......so there will be no interviews.IMO even when she is found guilty and goes through the penalty phase.....these jurors will be whisked right back to their homes way ahead of the media.
 ::justice2NJ::

If they find her guilty of a lesser, not requiring the DP, they would be released today.
Ahhhh,I didn't think about that even though I don't think she will get the death penalty. So even if she is found guilty on most of the charges.....it'll be up to the judge to penalize her?

Wow I did realize the peterson and anthony case has so many similarities.

REDWOOD CITY — Scott Peterson remains cheerful despite being sentenced to death just days ago, buoyed in part by the constant flow of fan mail he continues to receive, the San Mateo County sheriff said Thursday.

"He has been his normal self. He is very cheerful. He is very compliant and very helpful," Horsley said, adding that jailers describe him as a model prisoner.

I have a completely different question but I don't know how to ask it in a "thread appropriate way", so I hope this will be ok. I know I haven't said a lot but I have been following things since the beginning. I must have missed this though. What is the significance of the gas can having the Henkel brand tape on it after Casey returned them and why does Bozo keep harping on it?
I feel like I've missed something important.

No, if they find her guilty of 1st degree, the jury has to recommend death or lwop, so they need to go to penalty phaze.

All the other charges are not DP or LWOP charges, so no jury input, as far as I know.

Probably depends.  I imagine they won't be doing anything until tomorrow regarding the penalty phase even if they come back with a quick guilt verdict today.
