I see the events of that  night in a very different way than you San I am not sure who called CC  that night and who is that "very major friend" but I don't feel that he was called with any diverson in mind, because that was not what happened. If a diversion were the desired effect, then he would not have brought the posse to the Sloot place within hours of their arrival but rather days later. I look at the help requested of CC by the frien as the help needed to locate the missing Natalee and more specifically the 3 guys she was last seen with.

But Croes had a pocket full of "hush money"

He paid that kid $100 to lead the family to the van der sloots rather than the Kalpoes house.  The description Beth had was of the Kalpoe car, Croes hands the kid $100, raps with him in papiamento for a few minutes or whatever and they are off to the Sloot dump.  Why is that?  Is it because Paulus wanted to control the situation and he would have completely lost control if the posse showed up at the Kalpoe house and Nadira answered the door?

I agree with what you said Blah.  How did Charles no where to go to question kids about Joran.  Were these kids Joran's friends and were they coached to direct Charles where to go.

I think Beth had a description of Joran, the car he was in the back seat of with Natalee and maybe a name (Joarn, Uran, U Ron)
Why CC offered them money ???  Maybe he thought he could be of real help...The pepole that got him involved. I do not know.

But I think Paulis would have been tickled pink if Beth went to the Kalpoes 1st and did not make it to his house until later on  Tuesday.

O/T Catalina Island is burning - the fire is heading straight towards the only main city Avalon - all residents have been asked to evacuate to the beach.  

The fire is over 400 acres and growing.  I can see the smoke and Catalina Island from my home.

Charles Croes said he got a call from a major friend of his that night.  Who does everyone think his major friend was.  Who tipped Charles off.

Vocking.  Sloot and Vocking have a history of covering up crimes.

Sloot called Vocking in right off that bat and got the ball rolling on the cover-up just like they did in the Mathews case(or whatever the guy in prisons names was)

Vocking called Croes in to buy some time and lead the family on a wild goose chase until they could get Natalee out of the sloot dump/compound the night Beth arrived.  Vocking was the director, at least in the very beginning.

Makes sense Blah.  In the beginning I always thought it was a person in the United States that called Charles and asked him to help friends of his out.  Of course I have since changed my mind and now we know it was someone in Aruba that called Charles to ask for his help and create a diversion that night.

well the call very well could have came from the US, these slimeballs have such a network between Miama, Aruba and Europe, who knows how it all came down.  But I believe that Vocking was the 1st one sloot went to to help out with the cover up.

Much as I hate to agree with Blah, I tend to do so on Vocking.  He owed Paulus big time from that Alex Matthews case that Aruba lost in the World Court.

Paulus was in charge of the evidence in the same manner that Dennis Jacobs has been in this case.

They seem to just change laws, positions and everything else down there at will.  Strangest system I have ever seen.  Arlene is right, I don't understand it because it is different every time I read about it.
