The proposed law would make it a felony for parents not to report the death of a child to police within an hour, or within 24 hours in the case of a missing child,...

"Children don't have a voice, and if the responsible adults do not stand up for the children, they're not going to be taken care of," Coleman said. "They can't protect themselves. They can't stand up for themselves. They can't fight back."

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio is joining the list of states to propose laws that require prompt reporting of missing children in response to public outrage over the acquittal of Casey Anthony.

Both chambers of Ohio's General Assembly have introduced so-called Caylee's laws, which would require parents to promptly report a missing child, usually within 24 hours. Both require the death of a child to be reported within an hour of discovery.
