It’s just a crying shame.  Natalee, a goal oriented girl that didn’t mind earning her way through life, goes on a tropical fantasy trip and bumps into Joran.  A kid by his own admission that never had time to work and found it easier to steal from others and then lie about it.  What a horrible twist of fate!  

It is a crying shame and then we have  these posters like medley that uphold Joran and his lies,and we can see Natalee's life means nothing to them.

I'm told that there is no truth to the rumor about Julia Renfro being offered a position at DIARIO.  No slam against her and some think she does quiet well at Aruba Today, but the two publications are completely different animals.

Greta's producers contacted Jossy and some new ground rules were established.  She did treat him much more respectfully last night.  Personally, I do not care for her style, but it is an available platform to get the word out.

Well, this is good news at least about JR not being a candidate for Diario.

I don't think it was necessary for him to run the story about Beth and John Ramsey, however.  That's not their business.

Ya know, I just checked old email and see that someone sent me the rumor about Beth and Ramsey back in January of this year.  I never touched the story, because I didn’t see it as relevant in Natalee’s case.  It would have also just been fodder for those at RU and FOB.  So, that rumor just sat in my inbox all this time.  People eat that kind of stuff up though.

I received the info on that rumor same time as you did and like you, I did not see fit to run out and spread it all around.  It was none of my business.

And like you, I knew who would try to use this in some sick manner or other.  Now we have the Sloots being held up as some sort of family example.  That is like having the Munsters or Bonnie and Clyde given as a stellar example of family life.

If the Sloots were not such sorry parents, they would have known their kid was sneaking out at night.  He had to have been gone for hours and this is not like a small child being snatched but a huge one and all it would take is one checking on him, not every half hour like Madeline, to discover his game.  They knew all along what he was doing.

Anna, I found it horrific that someone would blame the parents of the little kidnapped and probably deceased British girl for her disappearance while allowing the Sloots to get away with murder and condoning their murdering, lying, raping, stealing, animal-killing, cheating, gambling, drinking, drugging son's behavior.  Are these people who would denigrate the family of a disappeared child  and condone the Sloots behavior living in some strange universe or just another group of third-worlders gone wild.

The sad thing about it though is that other people do read a lot of that garbage.  On my little blog I have noticed most of the traffic coming from the Netherlands and Aruba have followed a link from one of those sites and that sux.

I, too, am feeling vaguely discouraged.  Can't quite say why exactly but a little more action on the part of the Dutch investigators would help.  Just digging up that freshly poured concrete would help.

Madeleine: A UK Connection?

"Madeleine was snatched from her bed on May 3 while her doctor parents Gerry and Kate, from Rothley, Leicestershire, were dining in a tapas bar opposite their apartment.

In the U.K., there are reports of police activity in Warwickshire in connection with the investigation. Warwickshire Police said they were "assisting Leicestershire Constabulary with an investigation."

A spokeswoman for the Leicestershire force said: "We have been working closely with the Portuguese authorities since Madeleine went missing.

"Since that time we have undertaken a number of inquiries on their behalf, and this has included taking statements."

Horrible case.

Thought the UK connection was worth noting.  May very well not have been crime of opportunity, but planned in advance in some way.

That whole sneaking out thing is such a crock!  I don’t know how any of them can keep a straight face and repeat that crap.  Joran has to sneak out on Sunday night and gambles in tournaments to all hours on Monday night and that is okay?  One of the funniest ones is when Joran writes in his “book” that he had been passing himself off as 18 or older in all the casinos and everyone knew him by name.  Well, Paulus knew his son was underage and he supposedly also knew the law in Aruba.  So, what gives with that when the jerk accompanies his kid to the casino and enters poker tournaments?  Just what part of that BS are we supposed to believe?

LISBON, Portugal (AP) -- Police searching for a 4-year-old British girl who disappeared nearly two weeks ago in southern Portugal have placed a man under formal investigation, a news report said Tuesday.

Portugal's national news agency, Lusa, quoted unidentified police sources as saying the man was one of three people questioned Monday after detectives and forensic experts searched a villa near the hotel where Madeleine McCann apparently was abducted.

Police officials at national headquarters would not confirm the report nor identify anyone under investigation.

Under Portuguese law, opening a formal investigation is a first step toward possibly bringing formal charges. The legal measure is designed to safeguard a citizen's constitutional rights, granting access to potential evidence in order to mount a legal defense.

Lusa also reported that police took computers and cell phones from the villa, which is about 100 yards from the Ocean Club holiday village in Praia da Luz where the girl was apparently taken from her hotel room May 3.

Joran is what you get when you cross a greasy sleazebag mobster and a filthy eurotrash sow. Hard to expect him to turn out any better than he did. And he knows how bulletproof he is, too, which makes it so much worse.

I am thinking this morning about a scenario of the ALE's intents concerning the case in the beginning, and how that may have changed with events.

I think they originally intended to make it look like no crime was committed at all. Sanitizing Deepak's car (or switching the cars) was key to that. NOW, given the attention and Beth's perseverance, they WISH they could find a way to implicate K2 MORE deeply. They wish they had access to blood samples of Natalee or any forensic stuff they could plant in that car in order to point blame at K2, and evidently they don't have it.

In other words, they out-thought themselves in the beginning and cleaned up TOO well. Which looks more suspicious.  Any ideas?

sb - I agree with you.  If they did have the least little bit on the K2's or as I have thought, the K2's have something on Joran & Paulus, they would have had Deepak & Satish in jail so fast your head would spin.  ALE wanted it to look like a runaway from the beginning.  They didn't want to investigate, and when forced to investigate what little they did, they found this case to be something they HAD to cover up.  I have always thought perhaps it all snowballed - with Paulus being the orchestrator.  Soon it had gone too far to turn back and they kept having to cover and cover and cover more.  I guess they figured covering would  make them look better as if nothing happened.  Well that didn't work.  They have made themselves out to be the biggest idiots to ever call themselves law enforcement.

I agree that the absence of evidence of her being in the car is evidence in itself.

I’ve been feeling very discouraged over the past few days as well.  If they would just start rounding up some people and closing out some of these dangling PVs we have seen, I think I would get another wave of optimism.

Right now, I’m not sure what to think.

The recent interviews with JQK imply that he has forgotten important events encompassing the case ... events that imply guilt ... events that imply coverup.  His words cause me to reflect and ask the question "Has all our research has been in vain?"  Even the hosts of these interviews are being deceptive or ... they have forgotten many of the important details.  Dana seems to be the only one who is fully aware and ... asks the questions that will reveal the truth regarding those in Aruba who are preventing justice for Natalee Holloway from prevailing.

As I firmly believe that that it is too late to turn back the calendar as the implications are overwhelming ... I pray that there is not a negotiated settlement between Aruba and Natalee's family in the works ... a negotiated settlement that will allow the Natalee Holloway case to fade from media attention and become a cold case ... a negotiated settlement that will prevent those who participated in the events of that fateful morning and those who are involved in the coverup at all levels of the Aruba/Dutch administrations from being held accountable.

I just got out of a terrible meeting. We have a "zero tolerance" policy regarding leaving any of our children unattended. At one of our centers, a child was behind something and the staff and other children went to lunch and out to the playground without that child. He was four years old and left alone for an hour. We had to fire the three staff members. One of them had worked for us for 17 years. They cried and begged to keep their jobs, but we had to fire them anyway. It was very sad.

Easy and others, I understand feeling discouraged but a couple of thoughts regarding the article about Beth and John Ramsey. However it's reported it's nearly impossible for Jossy not to report it, it's hit the cable networks last week and it's going to be spun however so it's a no-win all around in trying to control how it's publicized or where or with what slant.

I'm glad Jossy found some middle ground with Greta, I don't respect her now but I do him, and it's far better to have him reporting from Aruba than Renfro - no contest there.

The KLPD and ALE "inspected" the Kalpoe home on Saturday, that is the latest.  JQK said on Greta last night that he expects more developments in Aruba within the next week or two.
