Rep DePasquale Receives Dozens Of Emails On Caylee's Law
July 14, 2011

YORK COUNTY—
The Casey Anthony verdict is having a ripple effect in Pennsylvania. State representatives have been inundated with emails about Caylee's Law.

Rep. DePasquale is seeing some of the frustration from the public, firsthand. He has received nearly 200 emails from constituents expressing their support for Caylee's Law.

Rep. DePasquale says he isn't taking the feedback lightly. He has responded to every email, saying there is a bill currently being drafted in Pennsylvania.

The bill would make not reporting a missing child within 24 hours, a felony. Rep. DePasquale says he expects the bill will receive bi-partisan support.

Bills named for Caylee Anthony headed to Pa. House
By Myles Snyder
February 15, 2012

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A legislative committee in Pennsylvania has approved two bills drafted in response to the 2008 homicide of two-year-old Caylee Anthony in Florida.

House bills 1841 and 1842, together known as "Caylee's Law," were sent to the state House of Representatives by a unanimous vote Tuesday before the House Judiciary Committee.

House Bill 1841 would increase penalties for those who make false reports to police investigating crimes involving a child, while House Bill 1842 would strengthen penalties for concealing the death of a child.

Both crimes would be upgraded to third-degree felonies with maximum penalties of seven years in prison.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

The state House of Representatives has approved two bills introduced in the aftermath of the Caylee Anthony homicide case in Florida.

House Bill 1842 would increase penalties for parents who conceal the death of a child, while House Bill 1841 would increase penalties for making false reports to police during a criminal investigation involving a child.

Both crimes would become a third-degree felony rather than a first-degree misdemeanor.

The bills now go to the state Senate for consideration.

Senate approves Caylee’s Law
March 16, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY – The state Senate has approved Caylee’s Law, a measure requiring parents or guardians to report that a child has gone missing within a 48-hour period.

Sen. Ralph Shortey, author of Senate Bill 1721, said the bill was motivated by the 2011 trial of Casey Anthony, who was convicted of lying to police regarding the disappearance of her daughter. SB 1721 creates a felony for failure to report a missing child within 48 hours.
