Y'all and that American Idol stuff... Rolling Eyes  I have associated Natalee's case with that program somewhat because the big story here in bham just as the case broke was the hoopla over Bo Bice. I have never seen such carrying-on over a singer as there was as he was working through that competition. The hype about Taylor Hicks last year wasn't as big.

I could tell that "Bo" wouldn't win that thing, he was up against Carrie Underwood and it was 100% clear that she was being steered through to win that thing and be made into a superstar. If you don't think that program isn't fixed...

Natalee's case hit the news right at the time of that last competition where Bo Bice wound up 2nd. Then IT became the story that dominated the news here.

American Idol has been more than kind to Birmingham but like you, SB, I associated it with Natalee's disappearance and was never able to enjoy it again.  I don't even watch after that first year.  I just associate it with her and it sort of became sad for me.
