I'm not a Bachelor watcher but just returned from my son's athletic banquet at school.  I was so mad the entire time because right before I left "Wheel of Fortune" gave away an "exotic" trip to Aruba with lodging at the Marriott and of course promoted the casino and beautiful beaches.  I'd already stopped watching Regis and Kelly the few times I'm here to see it and now I'm gonna have to boycott the Wheel also.  Geez, they must be selling those trips for peanuts because it seems like everything I turn on is giving one away.  It just turns my stomach!

Well, they have all those empty rooms there, so I guess the only way they can get them occupied is to give them away.  Wink

Art, you do not have to answer me if you do not want to, but sometimes I think surgery and/or therapy in and around the brain can make one stutter.  I always suspected Rainman in the movie (in real life) had undergone ECT which made him stutter.  No proof of anything I say, but I have a friend whose brother stuttered after AVM surgery.  It is amazing how we even make it through these procedures, muchless ever walk or talk again.  The brain is a delicate little creature.

Carrying on with this OT train of thought (no pun intended), the brain is truely
amazing. One thing that I find fascinating is that often when someone has a stroke that effects the part of the brain involving the ability to speak and express oneself, if that person has a second language say English, they often loose the ability to speak English, but  retain the ability to still  speak their original language. This does not happen 100% of the time but frequently. I guess what I find interesting is that I would think speech would be generated from the same part of the brain.......apparently no completely true.

Hi bb that is interesting.  Would it be more of a memory part that is affected rather than the speech part of the brain?

Memory is of course often effected, as such leads many people post stroke  to at times understand what is being said to them, but they are not able to speak having varrying degrees of expressive aphasia. Memory impairment
definately can play apart. I have seen some people with mild memory impairment , profound loss of gross motor movement  retain their  primary language and it always reminds me what miracle the human brain is.

Dihannah,

I'm glad your hubby didn't suffer anything worse than whiplash!

Thanks Artcolley and BT.  Messed up his work truck and the other man's Dodge Ram.  We went to ER and x-rays didn't show anything broken, but he's pretty sore.  Dr. said he's going to be really hurting tomorrow and the next couple days.  He is sooo mad that he can't work!  So, we'll see.  Hopefully that's all that comes out of it.

See if you can find locally Homeopathic Arnica Lotion or order online (Arnica is a daisy from the mountains and this lotion has alcohol in it so it won't ferment) Putting this lotion on any overexertion, sore muscles and whiplashed area really helps. Good for bruises too that do not have  cuts in them. Good to have one in car and one in home. Use Homeopathic Calundula (sp) for cuts.

We are going to go thru the many things that TES does and where help can be provided to them. There are always ways to streamline tasks and have them done from afar.

As was said on the radio interivew TES is looking to have offices and points of contact in every state eventually. These types of efforts are not done overnight, but will be a focus if their efforts.

Dihannah that is just so terrible.  Glad he is not badly injured.

Hi to all the monkeys joining our food discussion day.  Laughing  Laughing

Artcolley - how far NORTH did you live to be 35 below?

On the Canadian Border...the wind chills were 70 below sometimes. You couldn't go outside and breathe without your breath freezing. We wore scarves and things over our mouths. Flesh freezes in 20 minutes up there when its like that. I do NOT miss it, ROFLMAO!

Art, over-time OT.  Our new pet will probably be coming to live with us next week.  His name is Zoey (he) not to be mistaken with Zoey (she) and our dog is Derry and I all her Derry Dew, so I guess this will be Zoey Zoo. Laughing

Oh, I love the names!!!  This will be so good for Derry. The first day or so there may be some form of "power struggle" and mounting of the new dog. NOrmal. However, since she is younger, you may not have that going on.  It will be fun to watch the interraction.
Congratulations on the new member of the family! Laughing

Hi Red, the broadcast was awesome and came across clearly even this far away  Laughing
There are just so many missing people everywhere and so few trained volunteers to search.  I do hope that they will get more volunteers as well as the donations.
