(snip) PHOENIX - The Coronado Mansion deaths are back in the spotlight again. But this time it's not about the girlfriend who was found hanging from the balcony.
The focus is on the little boy who accidentally fell down the stairs and later died.
The boy's mother is now filing a lawsuit and taking it to court. (snip)

But who would she sue?  Rebecca is dead and I'm sure she does  not have a big estate.

Does she think the father was involved?  The fourteen year old?

Wasn't Max cremated?  How can you sue without a cause of death linking homicide???

IDK - time will tell.  Some say she may sue JS...wrongful death at his home.

Yes, I did read somewhere that Max was cremated.  I wish I could find again where I read that.

Update 9:05 a.m. Tuesday: A San Diego Superior Court judge signalled Tuesday that he will approve release of autopsy photos in the July death of Max Shacknai, 6, but will wait to see if the District Attorney's Office has any objections.
 
The boy's mother, Dina Shacknai, sued to obtain the photos last month. If the DA opposes the release, the judge said, the office must submit any concerns by Friday. Neither San Diego County nor the Medical Examiner's Office objects to the release, according to an attorney from the County Counsel's office. A new hearing is set for April 20.

Attorney asks for new probes into Coronado hanging

CORONADO — An attorney for the family of Rebecca Zahau, the Arizona woman who was found hanging at the Coronado Spreckels mansion in July, has filed requests with the county District Attorney’s Office and state Attorney General’s Office asking for independent investigations into the death.

Seattle-based attorney Anne Bremner said Tuesday that she had asked the attorney general to look at the case previously but was told to first try to get the investigation reopened by sheriff’s officials. Since the Sheriff’s Department declined, Bremner submitted the request again to state and local prosecutors, she said.

Bremner would not say what kind of new information or evidence was included with the latest requests.

An attorney general spokeswoman said Tuesday that they hadn't yet received the request.

Investigators said Zahau was distressed about critical injuries suffered by Shacknai’s 6-year-old son, Max, who fell from a second-story staircase days earlier. Zahau had been baby-sitting Max that day. He later died.

They said no forensic evidence pointed to foul play in Zahau’s hanging.

Shacknai has already asked the attorney general for an independent review of the sheriff’s findings. His request cited confidence in the investigation, but he hoped another opinion would put minds at ease. His request was denied.

In the Rebecca Zahau case our requests to re-open the investigation have been turned down by the DA and SDSD. This was a stated condition precedent to our going to the AG for an independent investigation. We have now submitted a detailed request to the AG.
